The title says it all. Bought this knife a few months ago and just got to use it. Filleted a salmon caught just this weekend, and WOW. Dangerously sharp, flexible (but not too flexible), excellent handle size and grip. Was worried about the point not being "pointy" enough to start filleting or getting under the skin. No worries now. Although the blade curves to a point, it is definitely sharp enough at the point to do the task.
I have a whole set of Global knives. This holder looks great and is very functional. I am not a fan of wooden blocks. Most non-wooden blocks do not hold knives in a way as to not hurt the blade. This knife block allows the knives to sit in their slots without ever touching the blade. It has thick holes for the forged knives and thin ones for the stamped knives. It also has a hole for your sharpener.

When the Kalorik slicer arrived we just happened to have finished cooling a fresh loaf of bread and a smoked corned beef brisket. We set the dial for 1/2" and quickly sliced the loaf into perfectly equal slices in about 3 minutes. We moved on to slice the cold brisket at a 1/16" slice and were absolutely astonished at the speed and uniformity of the slices (not to mention how the thin slice enhanced the smoked flavor of the meat). A few notes...the manual fails to give the specific number of "usage minutes" before allowing the motor to cool. (It directs you to look at the label on the bottom of the slicer which is a little messy if you forgot to look before beginning.) FYI, the maximum usage minutes is 10. Also, another point I missed regards where the sliced food will drop...I fixed a lovely little landing strip in front of the machine...unfortunately, the slices dropped out the back. Good Product. Good Price. Cleans easier than others since sliding bottom tray also rotates away from blade for access. CAUTION: The documentation does not specify that the screw holind on the blade is a left hand thread. Also the plastic peice behind the blade is hard to keep in place when putting the blade back on. I needed to lay the unit down so the blade could be laid in place horizontaly. The pusher to hold the meat in place is also plastic (I wish it were metal). I would recommend this product.
My wife and I have purchased electronic Panasonic products with satisfaction for more than 30 years, so we decided to give this meat grinder a try. Extremely satisfied, with first use to make ham salad (something not available commercially here, alas, any more, after the demise of Honey B on Texas Ave a couple of years ago). (Anyone reading this remenber the ham salad sandwiches at Reeves on F, then G, street in DC? Well I do, and have tried to duplicate them with this machine.) My! In any event, this is a solid, well-built, quiet (like a blender or food-processor) machine, that, properly assembled (cutter blade toward front, not back!!), will produce a great grind. For our ham salad we used the medium cutter disk, though if you want a coaser grind you can use the coarse disk. Perfection. Does not grind onions well (mush), however. Carbon steel parts (blade, disks, parts of the impeller)are NOT stainless and will require proper storage (use food-grade mineral oil available at your local pharmacy or cooking oil -olive, peanut, etc. to coat, then store). Finish, weight and size are all about right for those needing a carving set of this length. I would adjudge it best for large carving, a substantial prime rib for example. The depth of the blade also increases its utility for a large turkey.

This is my third Henckels and first santoku-bladed knife, and now that I've used it for a week I can say that I'm not a fan of the santoku blade. If you're used to working exclusively with a long (8") chef's knife and using the whole blade (tip for detailed cutting, length for chopping, etc), you'll have a hard time adjusting to the santoku blade. It's a great knife for slicing and chopping vegetables and so will save some wear on my other knives, but it's not going to replace either of my two 8" chef's knives as my favorite kitchen tool. This item was purchased for my father. Both of us own knives from Henckels 4 star line, which for him, the knives have held up over twenty years, including time working as a chef. The quality of these knives makes them the type you own for life. This particular knife is excellent for cutting vegetables. The scalloping breaks the vacuum between knife and vegetable, making it easier to make multiple cuts in a row. The steel is a high quality, that retains an edge for an extended period of time. The handle is ergonomic, and the knife itself is well balanced.
Maybe I am just too particular. But my issue is that you have to put the loaf in, cut a piece, move the loaf, remove and place the cut piece elsewhere, put the loaf back in, and continue this cycle until you are complete in cutting your entire loaf. I want to cut a piece, push the loaf up, cut another, etc. This is not the slicer for that. Also, it slides around way to easy. I literally had my 10 year old hold the unit steady, while I used both my hands to hold the loaf in place and cut the pieces. I am so bummed about this purchase. I think the ONLY thing I actually like about it is that it has the option for different widths.

Why anybody gives this a five star rating is beyond me. The platform where the bread is placed is not firm but flexible with no way to fix. Useable but makes holding the bread difficult. This would probably be OK for standard commercial square bread. But try cutting a country or odd shaped European style bread and you need three hands. I bought this and really liked it at first. So much I decided to buy a new bread knife because mine was not overly sharp as it came from a cheap set. I bought a Victorinox 47547 10-1/4-Inch Wavy Bread Knife, Black Fibrox Handle and began finding white pieces of plastic shavings on the bread. After a bit of looking I found the knife used to slice thin pieces from the guide making the product unusable. So unless you are using a fairly dull bread knife I would look for a stainless steel bread guide. On that not I have yet to find one. Perhaps the makers of this product might look at that.
Knife is sharp, easy to use, and easy to clean. I like to use it to cut vegetables, pizza, wraps, etc. It looks nice too on display.

Wow, these are terrible. I was really excited about them but they are terrible for two reasons. One, they stink. Really bad. And it doesn't matter how many times you wash them, they still stink. And second, they shed like crazy. There is no way of getting all the tiny fibers to stop coming off of these boards. Terrible, terrible product. Don't make the same mistake I made.

These are wonderful cutting boards and perfect for my small kitchen. They are half the thickness of other wooden cutting boards and pleasingly lightweight, but very strong and rigid. With a small kitchen and limited counter space, I cannot leave my heavy maple cutting board out on the counter all the time. Have been using a plastic cutting board for everyday chopping, as it's easily stored by propping against a counter wall out of the way, but I hate plastic boards. These thin, lightweight bamboo boards are the ideal compromise solution for me real wood, easy on good knives, very good looking boards, strong and solid, but lightweight and thin enough like the plastic boards to deftly prop against a wall or in dish rack out of the way when I need the counter space for other tasks.
This serrated knife is very sharp. The cutting guide is excellent for slicing bread evenly, meats, cheeses, even cutting fruit like tomatoes. The guide and adjustment knob make it take up more room in your drawer than usual, but this useful tool will more than replace the knives you have to store in other places.

I know the knife is for deli and meats, but I use it for my homemade bread. I can now make slices either thin or thick as I want. It cuts great, and does not rip the bread. If you make homemade bread you will love it.
After buying a bread machine, we now no longer buy our bread. Everyone (children and adults) cuts their own bread, at the table, to the slice thickness they prefer. With my old bread knives, the slices quite often came out looking like an ocean surface (waves and all). After upgrading to this Henckel (to match my other Henckel knives), we can now all cut straight slices. It doesn't matter if the bread just came out of the bread machine (yum) or if the bread was baked yesterday. No longer is the French bread (hard crusts) squashed while we try to slice it. I got this as a small knife roll to carry with me to working interview, as a light case for culinary school, and as a professional case for work. The case looks quite sleek. It has 7 pockets, (elastic topped, with mesh) one large enough for my to carry a pair of culinary scissors in, but most about standard knife handle size. It has a fold-over top and side flap (both made of canvas) to prevent things from accidentally sliding out, and the velcro straps are adjustable by several inches as well. I have carried it tightly rolled with just knives in it, as well as still being able to carry a wire whisk and 2 oz. ladle in it when I needed. It was well worth the $25 I got it for, figuring in professional appearance and practicality, especially when pricing it against most of the others I saw.

We managed to lose our old chef's knife (don't take it out of the house!), which came in a set of Wolfgang Puck Kitchen knives bought at Sam's Club a number of years back. This is is way sharper than our older one it's easily as sharp as my mom's and sister's both of which are Henkels (different lines, not sure which, but theirs were always sharper than our old chef knife). I could not be happier with this knife, and for the price? wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
