This product helped me reconfigure and organize my kitchen cabinets. I put the plastic storage containers which are lightweight up in my overhead cabinets [in a cardboard box that easily pulls out] and made room for a spice drawer. Although my husband doesn't understand it, it works for me! I can see all my spices with one open drawer instead of spinning various lazy susans and trying to shuffle through bottles to find ones that have slipped to the middle.
Nice quality, easy to clean.I got this rack to organize my spices, but once I loaded it up with my (standard, 4" high) spice jars, I found that it's too tall for my drawers. They have 3.25" of clearance, and the rack with jars in it is 3.75" tall. Other than that issue, it seems well made and easy to clean.

so glad i found this organizer! I have owned this knife for about 5 years and have to say the solid metal Chicago Cutlery knives are outstanding for the price. The first thing I love is the fact that they are one single piece of metal as opposed to a handle of a different material that has been bolted on. This is important to me because I had a handle from a Faberware knife break in my hand while in use. I did not get hurt, but the possibility was still there. Second, the price. You can't beat the price of these knives for the quality product you get. One thing, they do not hold an edge for more than about 5 vigorous uses and its ready to be sharpened again. Victorinox Cutlery 9-Inch Round Sharpening Steel, Black Plastic Handle
Since I often see these tools reviewed with references made to "sharpening" a knife, it is worth noting that (name not withstanding) they do not sharpen. (Forgive me if you know all of this). If you took a knife which was actually dull, and spent the day using this tool on it, you would never get it sharp. What this tool does do, and well, is repair the damage that ordinary use does to your already sharpened edge. If you look at a freshly sharpened edge under adequate magnification, (try a BelOMO 10x Triplet Loupe Folding Magnifier ) you will see a (more on less) regular edge. Prepare a meal with that knife, and look at it again, and you will see all sorts of small insults to the edge. These flaws can dramatically reduce the performance of a knife which is still actually quite sharp. This tool performs the task of smoothing out those little insults, and allowing you to get the full benefit of the sharp edge which is already present. The steel performs the same task as the leather strop Fromm Razor Strop 2 1/2" X 23" W/HDL Russia which used to hang on the arm of your barber's chair, and in fact I have a leather barber's strop I have used for the task.While this is a very affordable and useful steel, I would point out that it is only suitable for short knives. Your steel should always be a bit longer than the knife you are polishing with it, and so, while this steel is fine for a boning or paring knife, it is unsuitable for a slicing knife or a large chef's knife. That said, I find the small size convenient for use with small knives, and keep a larger steel for use with my big knives. If you can only afford one steel, you may wish to consider something bigger that would work for both large and small knives. Unless you have a large slicer or other really big knife, a 12" steel is probably big enough for almost all home use.
This is a tool you should be using at least every other time you use your knife. An actual sharpening should only be needed once or twice a year. Keep in mind that using the wrong cutting surface will ruin any edge never cut on glass, marble, Formica, or any hard surface. A hardwood J.K. The description of the product and the title is confusing due to conflicting descriptions. It is not a Black Fibrox handle as indicated. Even though the title says plastic, product description says Fibrox and since most of Victorinox's knives comes with a Fibrox handle one would assume the sharpening steel's handle as well. Unfortunately it's cheap light weight plastic, hence the 4 star. We purchased these knives...and think they've been worth every penny. They're sharp, comfortable to grip, aesthetically appealing, and come in a nice assortment. Certain knives like the Chef's knife and the table/steak knives have become the proverbial 'work horse' of the set while the tomato knife hasn't really seen the light of day since it left the box. The polypropylene handles are capable of withstanding high temperatures and, because of their nature, do not harbor bacteria like some sets that contain rivets or those with wooden handles.While this is a great set, it is not a high-end set, so you may want to look elsewhere if that's what you're after. None of the knives have a full-tang (where the steel goes all the way through the handle) or rivets. The handles are plastic. Also, the steel is from Japan (if I'm not mistaken) instead of Germany and boy, do the Germans know how to make steel!
So, dear friends, if you're looking for a set that you can pass on to your children and your children's children then you should indeed move up the Henckels line or look into Cutco (my favorites) or another high-end set. If you're looking to buy a good, inexpensive set that looks great and is every bit as functional, then look no more!
Also, consider looking into a pair of kitchen shears... they're indespensible!First, a caveat: These knives, while trash by Henckels' traditional standards, are still better than the huge majority of knives sold each year. They are not, however, comparable in any way to the "real" knives made by Henckels, Wusthof, or other top manufacturers.
Want performance from your knives? Here's what to look for:
(1) "Made in Germany." There's not much to say about this; the Germans make no compromises when it comes to making steel, and their manufacturing technology is among the finest as well. Ask your favorite surgeons where their scalpels come from; ask the most knowledgeable machinists you know where the tool bits they respect most are made; ask the best mechanics you know what "country of origin" is listed on the boxes containing the finest bearings. You'll get an occasional "Japan" in there -and the Japanese certainly deserve recognition, though they have yet to enter the cooking knife market in earnest -but Germany usually dominates.
(2) A name of distinction. It's true, there are many good knives made by lesser names, at lesser prices. The trick is, which ones? I have to tell you, I have been selecting knives for over 20 years, I use them every day and have studied their characteristics carefully, and I still am fooled sometimes by promising-looking knives with concealed but nonetheless tragic flaws. Make sure your brand is made by a manufacturer who stands behind their products, so you can exchange or return your knives if you are unhappy. It is YOUR satisfaction that matters, forget all the reviews written by "experts," how do they know what will make you happy?
(3) Buy knives whose handles fit your hand and whose weight distribution fits your strength and style. This might sound obvious, but most people skip it. There is no substitute for this point. My grandmother is a German native, my inspiration for entering the culinary profession, and one of the greatest geniuses of kitchen wizardry I have ever known. She also curses my beloved collection of mostly Henckels and Wusthof knives when she visits -despite her loyalty to all things German! -because nearly all the knives I've chosen fit my large masculine hands, not her dainty, nimble feminine ones. I would never dishonor her by saying she's wrong...and she means me no disrespect by saying my knives are lousy. They are...for her. Free wisdom, if you are tempted to discard Grandma's good advice, ask yourself: What's more malleable, a steel knife or my hand?
(4) Consider your use habits. Are you going to toss them in the dishwasher? Make sure your steel is as stainless as possible (not all "stainless" is equal, or even close, so do your homework). Are you the type who is disciplined about using a steel and skilled enough to do his/her own sharpening, or at least inclined towards this goal? (Most people, including the majority of culinary professionals, are not. I acquired the interest over time, but initially I was like most cooks, more interested in what a fine knife could do than in what made it capable of doing.) Stay away from "stay sharp" knives, the hardness of the steel will only frustrate you -and you probably know this already. Are you going to use them with wet hands? Share them with youngsters? Display them as a showpiece for visitors? All these things factor into your decision, be honest with yourself about what you want and you'll have a better chance of getting what you need.
(5) Buy fewer fine knives rather than many lesser ones. Most people don't know what the various knives are actually intended for; even fewer understand that the intended uses are just guidelines, and that individual skill and preference will sometimes make selection different than conventional wisdom would suggest. More knives means more maintenance; it doesn't necessarily mean more versatility. I once had a young cooking student who stubbornly stuck to a single small knife for everything, a habit I tried to dissuade him of until I noticed that he could cut nearly everything better with that one little knife than any of the other students -or, sadly, his instructor -could with ANY knife! He explained that he had inherited his love of whittling with a pocket-sized knife from his deceased father, and spent nearly all his time creating things out of wood as his father had taught him. Well, no wonder! This young man still found a couple of tools he had use for -a cleaver and fillet knife among them -but the huge sets of cutlery would not have improved him one bit. You may be a bit more diverse but you're probably not infinitely wealthy; given constrained funds, you would be smart to concentrate them where they can do you the most good.

It's been 6+ months now & they are GREAT! Anyone shooting these down are nothing more than some kitchen utensil snobs who have nothing better to do with their money. I don't need $400 knives. If I buy these & they only last me 2-3 years... I STILL can't go wrong for the quality & price!I suggest you read the negative reviews on this product & notice how "stuck up" they sound. Years ago, I had started a Henkels 4 Star collection, and found joy in using them. They are the kind of item that you sharpen, polish, and use caringly, the way you would treat something you plan on using for a lifetime. Well I don't live alone, and when they started getting sharpened on the face as well as the edge, I decided it was time to save them for special uses, rather than everyday. So when I saw these Henkels, especially at the Amazon.com sale price, I decided to give them a try. Glad I did. Since they don't need to be sharpened, I didn't have to worry about someone scarring the face with a sharpener. They are very sharp. They create their sharpeness with a minutely serrated edge. You have to be careful when cleaning these knives, because it is possible to cut yourself, when scrubbing along the very side edge of the blade, as well as the actual cutting edge. The serrations only go up a minute amount, but enough to cut yourself along the side of the blade. A little care when cleaning, to use a sponge or whatever, and avoid direct contact with your skin.The solid wood holder is very nice. The Henkel logo emblazoned on the front is a nice touch for your kitchen.
I don't really have anything negative to say about these knives at all. They are sharp. The selection suits most every need. You can use them and not have to worry about them. They are durable. I am not a knife expert, but I understand that these are stamped, instead of forged and ground like their more expensive sets. Notwithstanding, they look good, cut great, and have sufficient durability to them to be used for a very long time.
I bought them when they were listed at the better price, and at that number, it pays to get a set just to keep as a gift.
Definitely a 5 star product considering the quality and the price. Hope this helps.

Not worth $30. It doesn't pull out far enough from the cabinet to open lid of the coffe machine. I still have to lift it out and turn it to fill. I might as well just lift it like I was doing. Very simple roll-out design that doesn't stop if you are not careful. I think $10 would be a reasonable price. Not $30!I like the looks of this, however it is very easy to pull the top sliding part too far so it comes off the track. I know this but still end up pulling it too far out very often. This is the best pull-out caddy I found for my Keurig coffee pot. I ordered the other black ones and they were okay eventually the wheels wore down and left a black roller mark on my white kitchen counter. I found I was constantly trying to remove these black roller marks each time I used them. This one was a little more money but so worth it. My coffee pot just glides in and out from under my cabinet with ease and without any marks. This is a great all-around slicer. We've used it on very soft, moist cakes and breads both soft and crusty.But, thanks to a sharp edge and the length, it does a great job on meats. It breezes right through a London Broil and does a beautiful job slicing up an entire beef tenderloin into individual filet mignons. Sharp enough and long enough that you can usually complete a cut in a single stroke, providing a cleaner cut. I even tried it on a turkey last Thanksgiving and it worked great.
One really nice feature of this blade over many other slicers (including some other Wüsthofs) is that it is scalloped on only one side, so you can still take it to a steel between professional sharpenings.This amazing knife breezes through super hard, crusty day old bread, making sharp clean cuts. Often enough there's a watermelon or big round loaf of bread or turkey or some other thing that's broad enough that I can't quite get any of my "regular" knives through it in one downward motion. This knife is great when you want to trim the excess fat from any meat before preparation. Using any stroke, small or large removes fat effortlessly from roasts, chops, steaks, etc.. No 'hacking' necessary and the lightest of touches gets the job done. If you need sharp knives at lower, affordable costs, the Komachi line is the one for you. These are the makers of the Shun line of knives and you can send these knives in once a year for FREE sharpening. These are inexpensive enough to have 2 sets, one set to send in for sharpening and the other set to keep and use while the dulled ones are away for resharpening. These prices are less that the retail store, by about $3.00 each. Just keep in mind that these knives are razor sharp and fairly lightweight so you must be careful at all times.I'd say 4 inches of the blade are not serrated so it's good for slicing. The thin tip is flexible which enables you to remove the skin from fish easily. I also think this is an ideal knife for deveining shrimp. However, I don't think this knife is the correct size or shape for comfortably mincing vegetables. I have two sets of these utensils, for taking my lunch to work. I especially like soups and stews, so the spoon gets the most use. It is a lovely set, and very handy to have everything together. But I've found that, even with hand-washing (of course!), the spoon has cracked a little, and took on a slightly whitish sheen. Last time I cleaned them, I rubbed a bit of vegetable oil on each utensil, and that took care of the discoloration. But I'm disappointed that the spoon cracked so soon (I've only had it about a month or so).I love these so much I even used them at home instead of the metal utensils. Metalic utensils leave a slight metal flavor with every bite, but we're so used to using metal utensils that most of us don't even notice that taste. I didn't notice until I went back to using metal utensils after a year of eating only with wooden chopsticks. I was delightfully surprised that this bamboo cutlery set does not leave any flavor behind. If there is a flavor it's so subtle and clean that I can't detect it. It definitely has less of a flavor than wood does (Though I happen to like the slight wooden flavor that comes with using chopsticks). Unfortunately this set met their match when they met up with some indian curry. The curry permanently stained the bamboo. I have some bamboo plates also and whenever they happen to get stained with tomato sauce I just soak in a bit of lemon juice and the stains disappear... Not so with this cutlery. I bought a few of these sets for traveling and for taking my lunch when I go to the office. The knife is hard to use. It has an odd bend in the blade, so it's hard to use for spreading and cutting. And what else is a knife for? The fork is essentially flat, so food falls off it pretty easily. The tines are also not sharp enough to spear or stab your food. The bowl of the spoon is quite shallow, but it does kind of work for soup.What kept this in the 3-star range is the sleeve. Nice colors, handy design, and it contains all the pieces well. I'll probably toss out the bamboo cutlery and use the case for some of my old stainless steel tableware that's been consigned to the picnic box.
It would be nice if they sold just the sleeve. I wouldn't have wasted the resources involved in growing, harvesting, and manufacturing the bamboo.

I had high hopes for this as a set of easily portable, eco friendly cutlery I could keep in the car to replace the disposable plastic stuff. These are beyond cheaply made. I sent the first set back because the chopsticks were so warped they were unusable. I ordered two more, in the hopes that the first was a fluke. One had the same chopstick problem, plus a spoon that was misformed, and had almost no bowl. The other couldn't be snapped closed because the thin, cheap imitation canvas bag was missewn. It also had a fork with uneven tines. Stick with the plastic stuff, and just take it home and wash it...it's high quality compared to these.I bought 2 sets of these at the Lilith Fair where there was a booth of 'sustainable' products. I LOVE them. I'm kind of a chopstick freak, so that's actually what I use the most. (1 chopstick also makes a perfect coffee stirrer for any size cup). I toss them in my backpack and take them to work or wherever I go. I noticed reviewers for some of the bento boxes complaining of nowhere to put the included spork and I immediately thought of these and the little carabener clip that comes with them. Perfect for clipping on your beltloop if you're camping or just out. You can stick them in your purse or a bag. I've had mine for almost 2 years and they're still great. I keep one in my motorcycle bag during the summer & take it with me wherever I go. I know that I've personally managed to not use dozens of disposable forks, spoons, etc. by having this item. This is an amazing product. It works better than expected. It peels, cores and spiral slices all at the same time. It follows the contour of the fruit perfectly. When I was a child my friends mom had one of these...that was 40 years ago. Our children are eating several apples daily now. We are on a crusade to eat "Raw" foods as much as possible, and now are children joining in without even knowing they are. I will recommend this product to everyone. I originally bought it to make "squash noodles". I haven't had a chance to try it for that yet,but I know it will work for that also. My son and I peeled an entire apple in one string with it. I love this thing. I spent all weekend peeling apples and potatoes. I also discovered that if you run a potato through it a bunch of times, you can make hash browns from the peels! I ran into this knife when I was actually hoping to find one of those short Japanese sushi knives with the nice little wood sheath. A nice multi-purpose portable knife. I have a lot of small pocket knives, but but one of the most common uses I end up needing them for is food. SO here comes a great idea: a small kitchen knife with a sheath!But there are some problems that could easily be fixed with little or no cost:
1. The handle guard hangs down below the blade, while a food knife is usually better if the blade hangs down so it can chop flat onto a plate or board.
2. The handle is shorter than the blade, but a short kitchen knife (ie, paring knife) usually gives you a useful handle length with a short blade. To make it worse, some handle length at the back end is wasted with that stylish drop-down bump, which is right where my pinky wants to sit.
3. The sheath has no drainage hole. It's basically impossible to give the sheath a good inside cleaning. Plastic sheaths for many hunting or utility knives often have a small hole at the end, so you can flush it out all the way just by holding it under the faucet. It's like trying to clean a cup by slowly filling it with water and pouring it out. Not very sanitary for somthing I want to use for food.
4. The plastic is cheap. Oils or alcohols are causing red stains when I wipe them on a paper towell. That means the plastic is not stable. Not only is the sheath difficult to clean, you have to be worried about what you clean it with.
5. The steel isn't that great either. It was sharp when new, but that didn't last very long and when it was time to sharpen it the thing just didn't want to get sharp. I have sharpened hundreds of knives and I have a dozen different stones, and this is one of those knives that just doesn't like to get very sharp. It's not an expensive knife, but I had a Victorinox parer I got for 5 bucks that was better.
For the price it's still handy to have, but it could be 10 times better and still be cheap.I have had this knife for many years kept at my desk to slice fresh fruit. It was so liked by co-workers someone absconded with mine while I was out of town. So I am back to order several more. The blade stays nice and sharp easy to clean and the blade is right sized for small tasks and reduced risk of cutting fingers. I love the cover and knowing that visitors to my desk are protected and blade is not exposed while not in use. Highly recommend this knife!

I love this knife. We've had ours for about ten years and we take it with us when we're going on trips and picnics. I love this for camping, picnics, or whenever you need a take-along-knife for food prep or serving. It's sharp and compact. Just make sure the blade is dry before you place it back in the sheath and there will be no problems. I have one that I have used for 10 years and it is still as sharp and shiny as new. I also include them in gift baskets of cheese, etc., for friends, so I have purchased several. These are my first ceramic knives and I have to say I was a little skeptical, but these work great! I tried them on carrots and I was able to slice and julienne them with ease. They also glide right through tomatoes and cucumbers, and they did a fine job chopping an onion. The knives are very sharp and the peeler also works great. I am not going to have a problem chopping and slicing veggies! The knives look very handsome sitting on my kitchen counter in their holder. I am very happy with this purchase I love them!
