Wusthof Grand Prix 10-Piece Cooking Couple's Knife Set with Block

Wusthof Grand Prix 10-Piece Cooking Couple's Knife Set with BlockThere are really two main competitors in the high-end mainstream kitchen knife market: Henckels and Wusthof. Those who have used both usually have a preference. My preference (and therefore bias you should know about) is for the Wusthofs.

The Wusthof Grand Prix line is a more modern design than the Classic series, with a simple black handle. The balance and grip of these knives are as close to perfect as I have found. For those wondering what benefits a higher priced knife provides, one benefit is that the blade (or tang) is one piece all the way through the handle. This makes the blade much stronger, and less likely to snap.

This set includes an 8 inch chef's knife, a 3 ½ inch paring knife, a 6 inch sandwich knife, a 6 inch chef's knife, a 9 inch bread, a 4 ½ inch utility knife, a 5 inch salami knife, a sharpening steel, and an oak block

The 8 inch chef's knife and the 6 inch chef's knife are great knives. Wusthof offers three sizes of chef's knives, 6, 8 and 10 inch. For most home cooks, I think the 8 inch knife is the best choice. The 6 inch is a bit small for bigger jobs, but the 10 inch is too big for most jobs. While the 8 inch isn't perfect for all uses, if you are only buying one size chef's knife (and most people only buy one), this is the one I would recommend. Adding the 6 inch makes the set almost complete.

The Wusthof 4 ½ inch utility knife is a great all-around knife. This is the knife I use for the majority of my small chopping work (when I don't use a Chef's knife).

As for the 3 ½ inch paring knife, this knife falls into the category of overkill for me. Most cooks will get by just fine with the 4 ½ inch utility knife. There is really no notable difference in size for the vast majority of applications between the 3 ½ inch paring knife and the 4 ½ inch utility knife. I prefer the 4 ½ inch utility knife, but the 3 ½ inch paring knife will do the trick.

I have found very few uses for the 6 inch sandwich and the 5 inch salami knives. I prefer the larger size of the chef's knife or the smaller 4 ½ inch utility knife. The knives are just the wrong width and length for most tasks, and fall into the overkill department, except when part of a set.

The bread knife, is a great knife. Many people think tomatoes are the hardest food items to clearly cut. I think bread is much more difficult; but this knife makes the task seem easy.

When it comes to sharpening steels, I have found very little difference between Henckels and Wusthof. As long as you buy a high end steel, you really won't go wrong. Therefore, I shop for this item on price, and Henckels has a price advantage. However as the steel comes with the set, you won't go wrong with this steel.

This set is a great deal, and includes just about the right assortment of knives. Adding the steak knives fills the block perfectly.

Victorinox 3-Inch by 5-Inch Chef's Slotted Fish Turner Head, White Poly Handle

Victorinox 3-Inch by 5-Inch Chef's Slotted Fish Turner Head, White Poly HandleThis spatula is just about perfect for many tasks and I reach for it regularly. It is super thin and strong, springy and responsive, which makes it easy to slip under delicate foods as well as basics like fried eggs. I took away one star because at just under one year the seam between the handle and blade started leaking and allowed water to collect in the handle. Victorinox replaced the item after some discussion of the timing of the failure and returning it over the holidays. Found out that the "Lifetime Warranty" is only good for one year. After that the replacement costs a bit more than buying a new one and certainly when you count shipping the old one back it's more economical to toss it and buy a new one at this price point.

The Ultimate Edge Model 2001-8BN 8 Piece Knife Roll

The Ultimate Edge Model 2001-8BN 8 Piece Knife RollOverall I liked this case. It is well made, easy to use and handy. My only complaint is I wish there were a little more space between each knife "pocket". You really need to be careful as larger (chef, etc) knifes end up being close to each other. And if you go to pull one out, you want to really watch what your doing or you could cut yourself on the knife next to it.

If you have 7-8 knifes you might want to get a bigger size and leave some of them empty.

This is a pretty no-frills knife roll, but sometimes that's all you need. I purchased it so I'd be able to transport a couple of knives and other select accessories to and from specific events/places and it works just fine for that. This roll is extremely comparable to the 8-piece Wüsthof roll both in terms of material and layout on the inside (the Wüsthof has two more small pockets for carrying cards/papers inside, if I remember correctly--otherwise they are pretty much the same). The Ultimate Edge is slightly cheaper though, and it comes with a shoulder strap (you have to buy the shoulder strap separately for the Wüsthof), so if you're looking for a small, lightweight knife roll, this one has its bigger name competition beat if you ask me.

When I looked at it I was surprised by the price and assumed it would be junk. Quite the contrary, I ended up buying one for each of my catering staff as a thanks for excellent service. Well worth the money.

I bought one of these for work, and ended up buying two more for co-workers who liked it. It fits 8 pieces, but if your knives have really wide blades they might bump up against each other. I like that the flap zips up around the knives to keep them protected and the mesh zipper pocket holds a lot of little tools. The removable shoulder strap is great too, it lets you use it either way you want.

Very nice knife roll. Bought this for my co-worker as a gift of appreciation. Only complaint would be wishing some of the pockets were a bit deeper. Otherwise nicely made and durable materials. Very professional.

Grande Epicure Professional Polyethylene Utility Board

Grande Epicure M6431506 Professional 10 by 14 by 9mm Polyethylene Utility BoardI purchased two of these cutting boards to replace the two I had. These will certainly work well enough, but they are a lot thinner than my old ones. I will not put these in the dishwasher because I am afraid they will warp. They tend to move around on top of my counter when I use them because they are just too light. I am going to keep them, because I already tossed my old ones in the recycle bin. Next time I will pay more attention to the thickness and most likely I won't purchase these again. If you want something that is not too expensive, and will get the job done, these are fine. If you are looking for something better or thicker, you might want to keep shopping.

The cutting board was exactly as described and perfect for preparing small meals. With just me and my roommate to cook for it was exactly what I was looking for in a cutting board. Fast delivery. I would definately use this seller again.

Chroma ST-G Knife Sharpening Guide Rails

Chroma ST-G Knife Sharpening Guide RailsI purchased these guides to sharpen KAI Seki Magoroku series knives. I have never used a water stone before, so I thought these guide rails were necessary. I followed the directions on the package for attaching and using these guide rails, but their corners were leaving deep scratches on the water stone, so I stopped using them after just a few passes. I ended up sharpening knives without any guide rails, and, I think that I did a pretty good job.

Nice tool for accurately sharpening Japanese and other chef knives. Actually works very well by maintaining a 15 degree angle, which is very hard to do by hand. Be sure you know how to sharpen Japanese knives before using, pressure points during sharpening is important. Search youtube for helpful hints.

these guides really help put a sharper edge on the knife because it creates consistency, they do rub against the stone but you aim for putting pressure more on the knife edge than the guide, for the price it is a great item to help improve your sharpening ability through angle consistency

Mikasa Sophia 65-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 12

Mikasa Sophia 65-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 12The size seems to be about 1.5 times larger than a normal set. The size of the teaspoon with this set it almost the size of my regular serving spoon! If you have children, this would not be a good set for you. I really liked the design, but I had to send it back for being so ridiculously large.

Was looking for an elegant flatware set, stainless steel 18/10, service for 12-18, reasonably priced. Did a lot of looking online and in stores, and found most sets were at least $200 so this one was reasonably priced. It is however, somewhat more rugged looking as opposed to elegant looking. And the teeth of the dinner forks are so long I'm afraid I might hurt my throat with them. The salad forks are about the size of standard dinner forks so we've been using the salad forks as our dinner forks.

I am furnishing a second home and have been on the market for things I haven't purchased in a very long time. I was shocked to see how few high quality 18/10 Stainless Steel flatware sets were available, and those I could find were at very high prices. A previous poster complained about the large size of the flatware. I believe this is "continental size" flatware. I tried to post a link that explains the various sizes of flatware available and the differences in size, but apparently Amazon deletes external links.

This set works for me. I have Le Creuset stoneware. My dishes are large (dinner plate 12") and small flatware would look strange.

Kyocera Steel Knife Sharpener, Red

Kyocera Steel Knife Sharpener, RedI've been using the AccuSharp Knife Sharpener With Replacement Blades for about a year or maybe a little more. I'd been happy with it but recently have been having more and more trouble getting a good edge with it.

Turns out that little sharpener requires a fair amount of dexterity to use properly, which I didn't realize until I started to lose strength and dexterity in my hands. It did an OK job while I was able to use it properly, but that time has passed, so I went looking for a new knife sharpener.

This is what I settled on and I only wish I had had the opportunity to try it sooner. The Kyocera is MUCH easier to use and gives much better results than the AccuSharp ever did. Not that the AccuSharp is necessarily bad, but this is just a LOT better. The AccuSharp is more versatile I can easily use it to sharpen pocket knives, tools that are beveled on both sides, and even our pizza cutter but there is no question that the Kyocera is a lot easier to use and gives a much better, sharper edge on our kitchen knives with less time and effort.

I could not believe how quickly and easily this little sharpener brought my knives back to sharpness. Just a few swipes back and forth and everybody's happy.

The knife geeks will tell you the ONLY way to sharpen a knife "properly" is to get a couple hundred dollars worth of expensive whetstones, clamps, and guides and then spend hours sharpening your kitchen knives or you will "ruin" the blades. Well, I can't speak to somebody's $1000 Japanese blade made by some company I've never heard of, but for my plebian everyday kitchen knives, the Kyocera does an excellent job.

Seriously, the food doesn't care if it gets cut with a $500 Wusthoff that was sharpened with a precision diamond whetstone at an exact 18.5 degree angle, wiped clean with a lambskin hankie, then blessed by 9 priests and sprinkled with holy water before being wrapped in lambswool and put away in a Lebanon Cedar box, or the Chef's knife that came with your block set, which you cleaned off with the same scrubby you use for all your dishes before drying it on a paper towel and sticking it back in it's block.

My knives are tools, not fetishes, and this Kyocera knife sharpener is a good, affordable, effective tool that will keep my knives sharp so they can keep doing their jobs. It's affordable, sure, but it's also easy to use AND it's effective; can't ask for more than that.

I purchased this mainly because of Kyocera's good reputation for producing innovative products with ceramics. Their ceramic knives are an outstanding innovation, even if somewhat expensive. They also make well manufactured grinders, including a manual coffee grinder that is superb and only available in Japan and from one vendor in the United States. Google Kyocera coffee grinder if you're interested in that.

This product is also ceramic based, with an inclined pair of dual ceramic wheels doing the sharpening. It's similar to other sharpeners of the same general design, but using ceramic sharpeners rather than steel. I received it today and this evening I took all the kitchen knives and my pocket knife to a table and worked on them with this sharpener, and for some knives I was having difficulty with, a Chicago Cutlery set of crock sticks.

The key to sharpening is precision. You want to have an accurate flat bevel on both sides, intersecting at a 25 35 degree angle (depends on what kind of use the blade will get, rougher uses need bigger angles). The more perfect the bevel at the edge (and I mean high powered microscope level), the 'sharper' the knife is. The whole thing depends on the 1/1000 of an inch at the very edge of the blade. Back from the edge, it doesn't matter.

I would say that this sharpener works pretty well on high carbon steel (the kind that rusts), and not quite as well on stainless steel, depending on what kind it is. For some stainless blades, I resorted to the crock stick for most of the work, then the Kyocera sharpener. Very high quality stainless blades may be too tough for this sharpener, cheap stainless won't really hold an edge for long, no matter what you do to it. Reasonably good stainless steel can be sharpened by this thing, but it takes some time. A damaged or very badly worn blade will have to be reprofiled with something more aggressive like a diamond hone or wheel. This sharpener works best on blades that are properly ground but dull at the edge. It also will not work on ceramic blades, which must be sent back to the factory to be sharpened with a diamond wheel, but only every 5 years or so.

I was unable to create a "razor edge" with any of the knives I sharpened. "Razor edge" means able to shave arm hair without trouble or any significant pulling. The edges I did achieve were just this side of razor sharp, but sharp enough for many uses. Given the price, this would not be a bad item to take on a camping trip or put in a kitchen drawer for touch ups -it's certainly better that a sharpening steel. However if you are looking for something to sharpen very dull or damaged blades, or to sharpen at a razor sharp level, I don't think this is your item.

Buy Kyocera Steel Knife Sharpener, Red Now

For five or more years, I've had the Chef's Choice Sharpeners 460 Diamond Hone Two Stage Manual Sharpener with Chrome Overlay. It works fine, and I though it was a good hone until I tried the Kyocera.

This one has a single slot and a rotating blade. You can search youtube for a video about how it works, but short story is that it does coarse and fine honing simultaneously. All the knives I ran through this hone were as sharp or sharper than the Chef's Choice could do, and the Kyocera did the job it faster.

If your blade is curved, as most are, then you have to rotate your wrist to sharpen the curved portion in the Chef's Choice. This is unnecessary with the Kyocera, or at least less necessary, because the rotating blade arrangement handles the curve for you. For an extremely curved blade (scimitar?), you might still have to rotate a bit.

Great product for a low price. Five stars!

I really like this knife sharpener. It's easy to use and has produced a very sharp edge on the knives I've sharpened with it.

I would highly recommend this knife sharpener

Want Kyocera Steel Knife Sharpener, Red Discount?

I've had the same knives for almost 20 years and they were just awful and absolutely terrible at cutting. In fact, my knives were so bad I almost became averse to cooking because the prep was so horrible and time-consuming without properly sharpened knives. There I'd be, sawing away at a chicken breast or hacking up cilantro with a knife that might as well have been made from cardboard. I've owned three different electric, mechanical knife sharpeners, each one more expensive than the previous. I was incredibly skeptical about trying this inexpensive hand-held knife sharpener, but I enjoyed one of the previous reviews on the Kyocera and decided why not? After the Kyocera arrived, I sharpened all the knives I could within 20 minutes and -surprise, surprise! -they were actually sharp and using them was like cutting soft butter. So easy! So precise! Now the Kyocera is not for ceramic, serrated, or non double-sided steel blades, so I wasn't able to get all my knives sharpened (at this point I'm considering investing in a really good, solid knife set in general) but the Kyocera really did do a very impressive, efficient job on my double-sided blades, including my ancient pocket knife. My $60.00 Chef's Choice 310 (diamond hone electric sharpener) is going to the Goodwill at the end of the month. I like the Kyocera's red color as well, and it's small size which makes for easy storage. I recommend this great little knife sharpener. It's easy to use (it leads the blade of the knife instead of leaving you to figure out the angle the blade needs to be in to be sharpened), easy to wash, easy to store, and quite a nifty little gadget.

The Ultimate Edge BS6 6-Piece Steak Knife Blade Saver Set

The Ultimate Edge BS6 6-Piece Steak Knife Blade Saver SetI bought this set to protect my smaller kitchen knives and it does the job perfectly. It is just long enough to hold my serrated tomato knife and my longer cheese blade. This set is an excellent value and is indispensible for the serious cook.

These measure 6-1/2 inches and can be cut to length very easily with a 24 tpi hacksaw (my scissors wouldn't cut through them). This is a very practical, inexpensive set. With them I can safely store my very sharp Victorinox steak knives in a drawer.

These blade savers are hard to find in retail stores. I'm glad Amazon carries them. I've had one for two years for the Sanuko blade and it has cracked. Melange French Classic Premium Porcelain 40-Piece Place Setting, Ivory, Serving for 8

Melange French Classic Premium Porcelain 40-Piece Place Setting, Ivory, Serving for 8I ordered this setting right before Christmas and so far it's been a great everyday set. The design is simple but elegant, nice enough to use with dinner guests but not too fancy for everyday. We've put them in the dishwasher nearly everyday and in the microwave, too, without incident. They are sturdy, however not too heavy like some other dinnerware we've had.

There is a small protruding line on the bottom of the dinner and salad plates as another reviewer mentioned as a quality control issue. I don't believe this is a mistake, as other dishware has had this element, as well. The protruding line is a little over an inch long and very thin, and the result is that the plates do not rest evenly on top of one another in the cupboard. This is only noticeable when they are stacked on top of each other and does not create any issues whatsoever when they lay flat on the table during a meal.

The bowls are traditional 'soup' bowls so very wide and elegant looking. I think it's worth mentioning that they are not handy for cereal where I prefer a much higher bowl to keep the milk and cereal in. But I just use another set of bowls for this purpose. I think the bowls are much nicer looking for entertaining guests and they can double to put candy in or appetizers since they look quite nice.

Overall, I'd recommend these to a friend for the price and quality. They are similar to the Mikasa set but more affordable.

I was in need of new everyday dishes and was tired of expensive stoneware chipping and showing scrape marks from flatware, ultimately looking terrible on the table. I still wanted something microwavable, ovenproof, freezer and dishwasher safe though. I purchased the Melange French Classic 40 pc set at Amazon recently. Although they are porcelain, Amazon's sale price was great and far cheaper than stoneware too.

These dishes are absolutely great! They are a creamy white color, with subtle non circular shape and not as heavy as stoneware. I have used them in the freezer, microwave, oven and dishwasher with no problems. If you want to create a great table setting with creamy white color that looks very nice against any color tablecloth and/or napkins.

I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend these dishes.

We received the set and immediately noticed an interesting "rib" protruding from the bottom of all the plates. At first, we thought it was some innovative new way of keeping the plates from rubbing against each other while stacked. After about 12 hours, we finally determined that it was a manufacturing defect on all of the plates in the set. Clearly it's not supposed to be there. We repackaged everything and shipped back to Amazon. It's a shame if you could trust the quality, it would be a nice budget set of china. However, the poor quality control from the factory in China makes it not worth the risk of needing to repackage and ship back the 40 lb box. Who knows if your set will come off the same factory run as ours?

The creamy color was soft and matched my linens as well as a nice blend with the decor of my home. The weight was easy to use, not too heavy but a strong medium weight. I loved the size of the dinner plate, a nice easy to use size. They do not chip, microwave and dish washer safe, good for every day use. I recommend these dishes as a personal use purchase or a wonderful gift. Simply put, they are useful, a great bargain and pretty too!

1. 420J2 budget quality stainless steel (doesn't hold edge well, but durable)

2. these are not japanese blades :

A. the blade is printed made in china

B. the patterning is actually stamped into the metal as oppose the metal was "worked" (fake pattern)

C. claim to be forged but I highly doubt that due to the false pattern

3. the sheers don't separate

Black Cutlery Drying Rack

Black Cutlery Drying RackI don't know what there is to say about a cutlery drying rack, but this looks nice and does its job. It is sturdy and hangs nicely from our drying rack. It's easy to take on and off, and I've found that it is convenient to put this in the sink and fill it with recently scrubbed and soaped up silverware and then rinse them all off at once. The coating on this wire rack has held up just fine to this sort of use. A few times I've had trouble with knives slipping through the sides of the rack, but as long as I remember to put knives in the center compartment, this isn't a problem. This was the cheapest black wire cutlery rack I could find at the time of purchase, and is definitely buy it again.

We went through several replacements of the chrome version of this silverware rack that inevitably rust away. After looking for (and not finding) a stainless steel version to match our drying rack, we decided to spend a few extra bucks for this black plastic-coated version. It looks nice and is working out very well. The plastic coating makes the holes between the bars a bit smaller, which helps to minimize the "fall-through" that inevitably happens with this type of rack. It's also quieter when you're dropping things in. All in all, a very nice looking, longer-lasting alternative to the classic chrome rack. Five stars for practicality and value.

Our old cutlery basket accumulated "gunk" in the bottom all the time and had to be cleaned/scrubbed with a toothbrush and bleach to get it out and make it really clean. Not a problem with this! A few items do tend to slip through the grid on the bottom, though, and the basket/rack doesn't seem to attach tightly to the dish drainer. LOVE the black and the modern look!

Read Best Reviews of Black Cutlery Drying Rack Here

The item is well constructed and overall I am very pleased with it. However as with the other comments the flaw with the design is that the side slots, especially at each of the 4 corners of the unit are too wide apart and my utensils slips through. The only way to prevent it was to face my spoons and forks face downwards. (Normally I have the handles facing downwards). As with another person's comments knives do slip through and the only way I can figure to keep them in if I put them at the two outer sections, is to place another shallow wire/vented unit under it; this solved my problem beautifully. This solution also elimitated the need to having to remember to place the wide end of my forks and spoons facing downwards.

Overall I still love the construction. However I do think that they do need to fix the design of this caddy so that one doesn't need to do modifications to keep utensils from slipping out.

I originally surfed the net to find the exact dish folding drying rack that had broken. I found the picture, clicked it on and this item came up in it's place. I showed it to my mom since it was her dish drying rack that had broken, we liked it and ordered it. This item was the mach and substitute for the Large folding rack that I had also purchased. We were very pleased.

Reed & Barton Bristol Grande 43CF Flatware Chest

Reed & Barton Bristol Grande 43CF Flatware ChestMy wife and I bought this chest as an alternative to storing our flatware in the "silver drawer" of our buffet. The problem with the latter arrangement was that there was no way, apart from wrapping them in flannel, to keep the individual pieces from scratching each other. This Reed & Barton chest proved to be the perfect solution. It stores 12 knives on the underside of the lid, and allows us to stack the other pieces in such a way that they don't move around. The two lower drawers offer plenty of space for larger serving pieces. The chest itself is made of solid wood, except for the drawer bottoms, which are made of particle board lined with anti-tarnish cloth. This is a good investment for the safe and convenient storage of your silver flatware.

The chest arrived in fine condition and faster than the anticipated arrival date. The wood grain and finish are attractive, it is strong, well built and the piece can be displayed. Our chest will remain featured in the dining room. The roomy interior is nicely lined with anti-tarnish material. We were concerned that it would not hold all of our silver and thought two might be required, but were surprised that there was room left after a complete antique setting for 12 plus a lot of additional pieces. When full it is extremely heavy so you may want to be sure it's placed where you want to keep it before you fill it. We are very pleased with our purchase and it has drawn attention and admiration from our guests.

WÜSTHOF Silverpoint Colour 2 pc Utillity Knife & Shears (5558) Kitchen Set -8500B - BLUE

WÜSTHOF Silverpoint Colour 2 pc Utillity Knife & Shears Kitchen Set -8500B - BLUEMy cousin gave me this set a year ago as an apartment-warming gift, and I highly recommend them! I've used the shears to cut through cardboard, the rubbery bottoms of shoes, and a sturdy plastic flower pot, to name just a few. They come apart, so they are easy to wash. (I've also used them for cutting veggies and plastic packages.) Truly an all-purpose pair of shears. The knife is also very sharp, and is my favorite knife of all of the ones that I have. I just looked up this set to get it as a gift, discovered there were no reviews, and thought I should write one.

Wusthof 8518Grand Prix II 8-Piece Knife Set with Block

Wusthof 8518Grand Prix II 8-Piece Knife Set with BlockI am not the prince of France nor a professional cook, as the earlier reviewer claims to be. I am an IT professional who likes to cook for my husband and friends and family on the weekends. Since I'm not a member of the French royal family (is there such a thing anymore?) and a mere humble, midwestern lass of various Euro-American decents (a "mutt"), I must carefully stock my kitchen with the best items I can afford. In short, I HATE buying things twice. That's why I buy Wusthof knives. I already owned a Classic 8" cooks knife, a paring knife, and 6 steak knives from Wusthof. I bought the Classic knifes like 15 years ago, when I was much younger and didn't care for my knives as well as I do now. Fortunately, I bought quality back then, and with a little honing and some sharpening, my older knives are working like new again. Every tool in my kitchen should be this durable and forgiving.

This Grand Prix 2 is a nice addition to what I already had. These are a comfortable weight and well-balanced. The Grand Prix 2 knives are a wee-bit lighter in weight than the Classic knives, but that's ok with me. My husband prefers the weight of the Classic series and I prefer the weight of the Grand Prix 2 knives. Life is good.

There are a couple of knives that aren't included in this collection that I still plan to buy. Fortunately, my block has a couple of slots left open. I really want a Santoku knife. This would make my collection complete.

FYI... as of this writing the amazon.com price is $. I actually bought this set from another website (a MAJOR U.S. retailer) and paid $. Either price is a great deal (but I really liked saving the bucks... sorry amazon).

Excellent knives. I would recommend this set with block. Such a great price. I will definitely be buying more of this brand.

We are very pleased with these knives. The sharpness, feel and balance is far superior to less expensive cutlery. The video on care and use was a nice plus.

We did not register for knives for our wedding as they were just too expensive. These were a wonderful gift from my parents for our 3 year anniversary.

The difference between the grocery store knives we used for 3 years & the Grand Prix II knives is incomparable. These knives are beautiful! A quick sharpening of these knives keeps them as good as new! We take good care of our knives, only washing with warm water & soap. NEVER EVER in the dishwasher!

You can feel the quality in these knives when you hold them. They are perfectly designed to fit in my "circus carny" hands & my husband's collegiate shot-put thrower hands. They are heavy enough to cut through the thickest cut meats & root vegetables. It eases through tomatoes & bread. We have also succeeded beautifully in thin slices of meat.

We have loved that this knife block has additional openings. We bought a set of 4 steak knives & a tomato knife. We received a large chef's knife that unfortunately does not fit into the block.

This is not the most expensive knife block you can buy for your kitchen. But why do we need knife blocks that cost as much as our mortgage payment? A family's kitchen will shine with these knives. They are exquisite knives that don't require a loan.

These are by far the nicest knives we have ever used. Very sharp and after a couple of months of use they still seem to be as sharp as the day we got them. There is definitely a huge difference between these and the typical consumer grade knives you find in most retail stores as the blades are thicker, the balance is much better and they have a true quality feel. This is our first upscale knife set so we cannot compare to others in this class but we are very pleased.
