We had originally bought this knife set last Christmas as a gift. I got the chance to use the knives while lending a hand in the kitchen and loved how nicely they cut. Now, eight months later when I needed to replace our knife setit seemed like a no brainer to purchase these. However I am just so disappointed with how dull they are. The chef knife in particular is very dull, even after sharpening the knives, there is little to no improvement. My wrists become sore/achy from having to apply a lot of pressure just to be able to cut through simple items like a bell pepper or onion. Sadly, I do not recommend this knives to anyone.If you are in search of a good and affordable knife set, look into the kitchen aid knife blocks. Sharp knives and great assortment for the right price.

I have bought 3 sets of these(all ordered from the same link) one for myself, one for my sister-in-law and one for my mother-in-law. The knives themselves are excellent! I love themthey are very heavy duty. I have owned my set for a year with no issues, no need for frequent sharpening and no rust spots. The issue that I have is that the picture shows scissors, the picture of the box shows no scissorsbut shows a sharpener rod.My set had neither the scissors or the rod, in fact it had an extra knifewhich I loved. My sister-in-laws has no scissors but has the rod, my mother-in-laws has no rod, but has the scissors. I wanted everyone to have the set that I got originally, but since every else is happy with what they received, I didn't bother to try to exchange. I wish there was some way to tell them when you order, which combo you actually wantor at least make a note telling consumers that there are different configurations.

The chop stick part probably will have to wait a little longer for the kids to use, but the fork and knife is definitely good to train kids to eat properly at table. There aren't many fork/knife combo out there for kids, mostly fork/spoon. It's great to be able to train kids to use fork and knife properly, just no "stab and saw."

Why not just order some Chinese food and get some free chopsticks !!!These are great, however, when eating MREs or things that need a spoon... these fall a little short. However, they are a great product... the chop stick function is always fun.

I have owned this particular knife for 5 years now and it is one of my favorite and most useful knives. As a professional chef, i own several boning and filet knives both curved, straight,and stiff and flexible. At 7 inches it is long enough tobe used for everything from trimming tenderloins to cutting through tuna loins. it has a decent heft and the handle is large enough to fit my hand (a problem i found in other knives) another feature i enjoyed with this knife is how smooth itis without any crevices to harbor microorganisms in its handle or bolster. My girlfriend on the other hand finds the blade a bit too long for use in our home. prefering the 5.5 inch pro s boning knife. I also enjoy the slight flex in the blade it allows me to use knife in situations suitable for either a flexible or a stiff bone. All in all it is extremely useful in a professional kitchen and not a necessity in a home kitchen but it is very nice to have in both settings.

I'll admit it up front; I'm a hardcore Henckel's fan. I know there are more expensive knives out there, but I prefer these. I purchased this knife to replace one, that I suspect, went out to recycling with a pizza box. It's got a great edge on it. I find myself reaching for it more than my santoku's now. Sabatier 4 Inch Forged Carbon Steel Paring Knife Made in France
First let me say the price of $29.99 was the best I found and these were shipped fast. (The name Sabatier is not protected by patent. Sabatier knives are made by a number of companies including China and really the 4 Star Elephant brand are the nearest in quality to these K Sabatier knives). I bought a set of 4-6-8-and 10 inch. I liked these well enough to buy my daughter a set. They do have a slight curve to the edge so you can dice or slice with them. These knives have a RC of 54-56 and while may be considered a soft steel it's also easier to sharpen, plus holds an edge pretty well. These are carbon steel (not stainless) and will develop a patina or will also rust If not hand washed and dried, then vegetable oil applied. Truthfully I believe any good knife should be hand washed, even stainless can rust and handles crack. I prefer carbon steel knives for kitchen work . Now I'm 69 years old and own 200 plus knives (stainless and carbon steel) for hunting and kitchen work (some hand and custom made), plus own a number of sharpening systems. Many stainless knives sold today are junk (cheap ones won't hold or take an edge) and good stainless knives will be harder to sharpen due to the alloys used. I'm not a novice when it comes to knives. I'm very satisfied with this brand of Sabatier, have found they do take a good edge and hold it well. I also have three 4 star Elephant Brand Sabatiers, two of steel forged in the 1930's (sold as historic knives) and one of new forged steel. The two historic older forged will match these in edge holding, but the modern one doesn't match them. I really didn't expect that and I know a lot of people like the Elephant Brand, so many will disagree. (Both brands in my view are better than the German Knives, yet generally cheaper in price) Fit and finish on these are good, did notice one had slight grind marks on the top edge, but not bad. Most wouldn't even notice it. But one of my Elephant Brand historic knives did too. That doesn't effect use though. The blades are thinner than some Chef Knives, they are lighter than many, well balanced, but for most of us in home kitchen use, these are great. Handles on the smaller knives are larger than most making them easy to use too. The only kitchen knives I have and rate better are 40+ year old Carbon Steel American made, Wear-Ever and some Clyde Knives. I don't believe anyone has ever matched those in quality, nor do they now. This review is just my opinion and some will disagree and that's OK and why we have many knife companies. Hope this review helps someone and I tried to be very honest.
If you like carbon steel knives, trust these. These are the real K Sabatier. You won't be disappointed.

I needed to replace my Sabatier 4" paring knife because, unfortunately, it fell out of the moving box and was run over by the moving van. Searched Amazon.com. Came across many Sabatier-type knives. Decided to take a chance on the 4" paring knife from China Fair, Inc because their description seemed to be honest. Besides, I fully intended to send it back if I were disappointed because $40 is a lot of money for a knife that small.Was extremely pleased. That little knife met all of my expectations, right out of the box. It would slice a hand-held piece of typing paper into shreds, just like the proverbial hot knife through butter.
I have just ordered a 6" chef's knife from China Fair, Inc. Incidentally, in subsequent e-mails with high-level staff, I learned that China does not come from the word `China'. It comes from the word `china', i.e. dishes. They are a family-owned business who have been purveyors of fine kitchen `equipment' for 47 years.

This is a very nice knife at a good price. It is super sharp because of the material: carbon steel.The disadvantage is that it SHOULD NOT GO IN THE DISHWASHER. The sheller states that, and I can testify to that, since I ignored his advice. It will discolor in the dishwasher, but it stays sharp.
Global GS-10 - 5 1/2 inch, 14cm Cheese Knife
The idea of a cheese knife with "holes" in the blade is to reduce the friction as one slices cheese, thus ensuring consistant slices, without the cheese crumbling or falling apart. This Global knife delivers admirabley to the task. Indeed, the design best fits hard cheeses, and Global have (imho) the best knife for this, period. Our old "stamped" knife bends and is awkward (dangerous) on hard cheeses.For soft cheeses, this may not be the best knife, probably a knife such as one would use for pate would be best. But, it is the penultimate for soft cheeses, and the best all round cheese knife my wife and I have ever experienced. We never regret the purchase.
It is great for semi-hard and hard cheeses (although I would not strongly recommend it for Parmesan cheese, despite that it worked fine for me, since Wustohof parmesan cheese knife is appreciably more efficient for that purpose). Don't pay much attention on those that tell You advices such as that other [less expensive] imitations with similar shape would do the same job (I tried several of those prior I got Global). On the other hand, don't expect this knife to do a good job for soft cheeses.
Global knifes need a tad amount of attention and care, and in return beside superb design and balance (of course, which is an individual thing) are very thankful and durable. So if You are not cheese addict and prepared to give this knife care that it needs, then rather buy something else (cheaper that You can toast and replace after short time) but of course, You won't know what You are missing ...

This knife is great for hard cheeses, I can cut them without the slices crumbling to pieces. It feels very comfortable and sturdy in my hand like my other Global knife. The blade has a serrated edge so you will not be able to sharpen it easily, but if you only use it for cheese, it should stay sharp for a long time. This is a great knife for hard and soft cheeses. It has a good grip and comfortable design. My wife was skeptic about it but when she used it she immediately told me to order an additional one as a gift for her parents because they are cheese lovers too. Some people complain that the knife will make a second cut after the middle holes pass through but this will not happen if you make a straight cut. This is my second purchase of this knife. I got one for myself in the summer and just bought another for my parents for Christmas. I have tried to find a flaw with this knife, but there is none. It cuts hard cheese like asiago and soft like brie or fontina. I use four knife in my kitchen. My chef's, vegetable, cheese and paring knife (ALL GLOBAL).
