Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Cute little owls make this a very popular pattern. This set has been selling like mad since it was introduced earlier this year. It's something that would be nice if you have kids, since it's either whimsical or juvenile, depending on your point of view.This is not expensive stainless, so the price point makes this attractive. You can find less expensive flatware, and also more expensive, so this is moderately priced. But I have questions about the durability of this over time according to my internet research.
Since this is 18/0 stainless flatware, I took a look at the differences between the various types of stainless steel:
18/10:

Like most flatware, this is made in China, although there is at least one company that advertises that it's flatware is made in the USA.
I wanted my review to be as accurate as I could make it so I have included the problems I found with this set.
On these flatware pieces, owls are not uniform from piece to piece. Some are deeply embedded while others are shallow. On some pieces you can see the pupil of the owl's eyes and on some pieces you can barely even see the outline of the eyes. On some pieces, the owl is actually not completely engraved, with one full side missing, or the design looks smudged in some places.
Also, four pieces had areas that were defective. It looked like tiny dents in the surface.
The finish on some pieces, mostly the bowls of the spoons, looks dull, and more cloudy grey than shiney silver. The handles are nice and shiney though.
The pieces seem a tad larger than usual, but they are strangely lightweight for their size.
There are reports on other websites that this set starts to show rust spots after only three months, even without them being left standing in water.
I put these in the dishwasher, and there were an unusually large number of water spots on them when I took them out. It may be better to simply hand wash and dry these.
I think, considering the reasonable price, that as long as you know this probably won't last forever, you will be pleased with it.
I showed this set to my sister, who is an owl lover and collector, and she was instantly in love with it. She immediately got her own set.

All pieces of the set look good (shiny, solid, medium size) and handle well (balanced, shaped nicely, and with smooth edges).
These are dishwasher "safe" but came with a recommendation to hand wash if you want to keep the original smooth luster.
We've been putting them through the dishwasher and while they may not keep the "like new" luster, they continue to look good.

I thought at first the little owl was perhaps a bit too juvenile but I've received several compliments on them and directed people to them online.I use these for my everyday flatware and run them through the dishwasher. So far so good. I tend to use the lemon detergents which can sometimes be a problem with flatware but I've noticed no ill effects.
I did get one spoon where the edge wasn't very smooth and I had to set that one aside for just stirring coffee and such. A little too sharp for eating but overall I'm satisfied with this cute set.

The cutlery feels heavy and well made though doesn't hold up quite as well as the Reed & Barton set recently sold at Costco for the same price. As Bernadette pointed out, the owls are not completely uniform across every item in the way they are imprinted. Sekiryu Deba Japanese Knife 6 1/4" Blade
This is a reasonably priced deba.The ootb sharpness is about par with some Wusthof and Henckels products.Nothing special compared to higher price point japanese knives.The fit and finish are ok but nothing special here either.Nice balance though.
I put a razors edge on the one I purchased. I haven't really done a lot of cutting with it so I can't comment on the edge retention. But it sharpened easily so it doesn't appear to be super hardened. But it can be used as a cleaver on smaller poultry and fish bones so that's not a bad thing..
After staining the handle. And polishing the blade.Both easily accomplished. It's not a bad looking knife either.
Appears to be worth the money if you're not ready to shell out a hundred bucks or more to see it a deba is a knife you'll like and use.
Once you see what this cheap one will do you might decide a deba is a knife you want and upgrade.Instead of spending $50-150 and finding out you don't appreciate it.
If you're just looking for a cheap handy knive that can be sharpened to a razor edge
this isn't a bad choice.

Faster than a food processor I love a good chef's knife and this one is perfect. The blade is solingen steel. the edge holds up and is easily and quickly sharpened with a few strokes of the steel. The blade is wide enough that when chopping i can let the side of the blade rest against the knuckle of my left hand and very precisely and safely guide each stroke. the blad has enough weight that given a little momentum it will cut cleanly through 4 or 5 carrots or stalks of celery. the bolster does not extend down the blade to the edge so that i can sharpen the entire length of the blade. it's a workhorse tool in my kitchen.

Wusthof 10-Inch Sharpening Steel
This steel is just the right thing for honing blades right before using them (for more intensive sharpening use a stone). I only have a few objections:I own two steels, one obtained two years ago that doesn't have the washer-shaped metal guard between the handle and the shaft, and one obtained four years ago that does. The one that does has collected a lot of scratches on the guard. I can't help but wonder if hitting that metal has also hurt my blades.
The wusthof logo is stamped onto the shaft, into the metal grooves, right where the tip of a blade passes. When honing a long blade I wind up holding the steel so that the blade doesn't hit the logo. (Those raised ridges can't possibly be good for the edge). But this means I only get to use half of the steel.
The Wusthof Classic line is the more conservative counterpart to the Grand Prix line. The only difference, however, is the handle style. I personally prefer the Grand Prix, but this is an issue of personal preference.
However, when it comes to sharpening steels, I have found very little difference. As long as you buy a high end steel, you really won't go wrong. Therefore, I shop for this item on price, and Henckels has a price advantage. Unless you want a matching set, shop on price, and look to Henckels.

It took 22 years to wear out my original Wusthof Sharpening Steel. Their products are premium, world class and worth every penny. I value my knives highly and wouldn't consider any any knife manufacturer.While there is no substitute for a knife sharpener, steeling your knives after every use (I do it when drying and putting away my knives), keeps the blades true and does allow you to go a little longer between sharpenings. If you're serious about cooking, you need a steel.

I love my new cutting board. I love the color. I love the fact that they are made with post consumer waste. I love the size. I love the shape. I love that it is made in the USA. The only thing I wish it had was a hole so that I could hang it on a hook in my kitchen. Other than that, I highly recommend this cutting board.
The red color really livens up my kitchen and makes me want to take pretty pictures of the items I'm chopping (I don't actually do it, but I want to). Like everyone else, I love that it's constructed of recycled materials and made in the USA. However, it spins and it's uneven. More than once, I've held onto the item I'm cutting and the board has spun my hand under where my knife is chopping. I'm certain that if I leave the board this way I will eventually chop off a finger. I'll be making a trip to the hardware store to see if I can get some rubber nubs or something to glue to the bottom of it...in the meantime, I'll probably continue to use it anyway because those vampires are so damn irresistible.

I bought a set, small and large, at a local store. I liked the recycled material and made in USA aspects. But neither is perfectly flat, they are slightly bowed so they spin on the counter. I love this cutting board! It's great that preserve uses recycled #5 plastic for their products. And made in U.S.A. is pretty rare and awesome to come by these days! The board itself (I have the large one) is a good weight, nice textured bottom so it doesn't slide much, great surface area, nice thickness, and great quality. I've seen it in stores too but Amazon still had the best price, plus no shipping charge and no tax! I accidentally purchased this knife while attempting to purchase the 8" Henckles chef's knife from the same line. I'll call it a happy accident because I'm quite pleased with it. It was sharp out of the box and has maintained it's edge very well.This size knife is great for cutting in areas where the wider blade of a chef's knife gets in the way. I use it frequently for finishing up pineapple as the narrow blade turns easily to follow the contours if the skin.
The fit and finish is excellent and the knife feels very comfortable in the hand.

I just finally got a chance to sit down and sing my praises to this product. I am one of the only 2 "white boy" rollers at my sushi bar and all of the other chefs, myself included have been amazed by the quality of the knife and its ability to hold an edge through 2 entire 8 hour shifts. compared to my previous knife this blade is at least 45% lighter, preventing fatigue and making most of my other cutlery feel like boat anchors. I would recommend this product to anybody looking for a sashimi yanagi. Although if you are a beginner a shorter length would be better.

I got the 1724 model from ebay and it was used-like new. It's a very good knife. It has the Doudble D serrated edge.I started to get into baking my own bread and just learning new things. I used that slicer on the bread and man did it cut through like butter with no tears just like it says. Also, I saw that it's good for carving thin slices of ham and other meats. I haven't tried that yet, but, will do when I have the chance.
It's very precise and very easy to use. I also read that you could shred cabbage, slice a piece of cake, etc. They also advised not to use small sawing motion so that you could get nice even slices.
I already know the quality of this knife and like all the other knives (though I'm not trying to sell it to anyone) what cutco from the rest is free sharpening (granted that you pay for shipping) but, which company will give you a lifetime guarantee to replace the knife (if you chip the blade or handle) that they'll place it for free (just the shipping fee is all you need to pay) and what's awesome is you could pass this down to your kids, relatives, friends and still have that warranty. It's not just a knife, but, it's all about quality.
Sure there are a handful of great quality knives that may do the samething but, a warranty like that can't be compared. Once you own it, you don't have to buy another to replace the one that broke. How cool is that?
