Cook N Home 15-Piece Stainless-Steel Cutlery Set with Storage Block

Cook N Home 15-Piece Stainless-Steel Cutlery Set with Storage BlockI saw the cheap price and read the reviews. After buying and returning Chicago, Henkels, and Ginsu knives from amazon I figured I'd give these knives a chance. They arrived and the block was beautiful. It was professionally constructed and very easy on the eyes. Each knife was sharp and all felt tight in their handles. Not sure why others felt these were cheap quality knives. They are just as strong and sharp, if not sharper than the Chicago and Ginsu I tried. for this low price you cannot go wrong. I am now sold on the cook n home brand.

these knives are worth every penny they are very sharp and classy looking keep away from kids id recomend these to anyone looking for knives

I am a college student and bought this because i was looking for an inexpensive knife set i wouldn't mind if it got damaged.

It is greaet for everything i need.

The only problem is all the knives are serrated, i wish the big knife wasn't, but oh well.

Great knife set all in all!

Please note that the knives in this set have HOLLOW handles and are not the best with those with a rough grip. However, these are perfect for a starting set or style. Used for my day to day cooking/prep.

Wusthof Classic 4 Piece Steak Knife Set 9731

Wusthof Classic 4 Piece Steak Knife Set 9731I was looking for the most reasonably priced, high-end steak knives out there and I believe I may have found them! They are extremely sharp and have a great weight and feel to them. They will be in our family for a very long time.

Caveat since they are a very classic knives, they have beautiful wooden handles (which feel great!) that cannot go in the dishwasher. If that is not appealing to you, they may not be the knives for you.

KitchenAid mixer cutter blade knife for food meat grinder.

KitchenAid mixer cutter blade knife for food meat grinder. We have been using the food grinder attachment for 15 years with no complaints. This repacement blade is nothing like the original. It is lightweight junk. I will try to sharpen the original blade.

This was a very flimsy version of the original that I misplaced. I paid more because I understood it was an authorized replacement. It was thinner than the original.

I'm truly not happy with this blade at all. It's not as heavy duty as the one I have and so far..doesn't seem to do a good job at all. I'm glad it wasn't expensive!

A new knife blade for the food mixer is a God send if you're grinding meat. When the old blade gets dull, it causes tendon and ligament striations to clog the holes in the grinder plate which turns the meat into goo. The new blade solves this problem by cutting off the meat as it presents through the holes in the grinder plate so the grinding process takes much less time, as well as eliminating the messy chore of unclogging it. This is particularly nice if you are grinding "select" grade meats for pork or pizza sausage. If you're still using youe original cutter blade, this replacement blade will put a smile on your face.

Found this blade at Amazon, read the reviews, some were puzzling. I needed a new blade because the original one just wasn't doing the job. Ordered this blade and when I received it placed it along side the original and it looked like a clone. Attached the blade, used it, it works fine, I'm satisfied.

Danesco Natural Living Bread Board - w/Crumb Catcher

Danesco Natural Living Bread Board - w/Crumb CatcherI love fresh, crunchy bread--but hate the crumbs it leaves everywhere! This is a fantastic item to have on the counter at all times...the tray catches all the crumbs beautifully, and if needed, the tray can be used to serve the bread in. I get complimented on it all the time. The quality is top notch.

Ricci Regale Satin 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8

Ricci Regale Satin 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8This set of silverware is beautiful. We are so glad we ordered it. The design is very elegant and will go well with the new dishes and glasses we just got. Our only complaint is that the description says the silverware has a satin finish, which is true of most of it, but the eating surface and part of the handles are made of stainless steel. So those sections show fingerprints and smudges. We were expecting a satin finish on all of it. Otherwise, the silverware is perfect. Definitely would recommend it.

Bambu 5-Inch Baby's Utensils, Set of 4, Natural

Bambu 5-Inch Baby's Utensils, Set of 4, NaturalThis fork and spoon set used to be just great. 5 stars all the way. Unfortunately the company didn't have the guts to raise the price directly, so instead they've cut costs by making 'em much thinner and much thinner thereby increasing their profits-'cuz they charge the same amount! If I'd known I certainly wouldn't have bought 'em.

I would not recommend this product. It splintered after one use, not exactly a safe product for a toddler. In addition, the tines of the fork are far too sharp. It's a shame but I would stay away form this product.

These products are fabulous! We got a set of two forks and spoons and used them over the course of our two little ones early eating months. Now they've graduated to metal, but for the first year of feeding, these are wonderful! They did splinter after a couple of years, and then we tossed them into the compost.

To summarize:

Nice spoons. Useless forks. Use wood conditioner to make them last.

The rest:

I ordered this Bambu set (2 spoons, 2 forks) on Amazon 3 years ago for my first child. I've used them for 2 children so far. I wanted something softer than stainless steel that didn't involve plastic. The spoons were great for most things, but the forks are pretty much useless...they won't pierce anything and so we hardly ever used the forks.

After constant use, the spoons did get rough and sharp around the edges although they didn't totally splinter. To prolong their life, I occasionally buffed them with a generic food-grade wood conditioner that I use on my wooden cutting boards. The more frequently you use the conditioner, the more it helps smooth out the roughness. Bambu makes a wood conditioner called Bamboo Goo (Bambu Bamboo Goo 8-Ounce Nourishing Oil, Natural) that you can use on these utensils, but any food-grade wood/bamboo conditioner should work.

The spoons also occasionally served as teething toys when the kids were sprouting teeth. Now that both children are using stainless steel utensils, these Bambu spoons and forks have become part of their play kitchen toys.

All in all a nice purchase although I would recommend only the spoons and not the forks.

The spoon of this set is perfect for little onesnot too much volume in the payload area, and a good shape. I haven't tried the fork, but it seems like it would be able to spear or pierce soft foods (cooked veggies like potato, pumpkin, etc) but I don't know about harder foods like a veggie with a membrane or meat. The handles are curved and seem to be a good shape for little hands, and don't seem flimsy. They are meant to be handwashed, so those who say they splinter may be treating them roughlymine are ok after months.

Cambridge Landscape Sand 20-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 4

Cambridge Landscape Sand 20-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 4This is a very nice flatware set. The design is very attractive and durability is excellent.

I got my first service for 4 from Amazon years ago, and was frustrated to find it had disappeared when I went to order more. Looked everywhere on line with no luck. Then I spotted it in Walmart, with a slightly changed name, for about half what it costs now on Amazon. Anyhow, it's a great set. It's heavy and larger than most, that is the forks and spoons have longer handles. The design is very attractive, with the alternating shiny and brushed finishes. I have three sets now and will go for a fourth. When this flatware was last on Amazon, it was around $20. Fifty strikes me as steep, but I like this pattern so well I would probably spring for it if I didn't know where to get it for less. Highly recommended.

World Cuisine 2-3/4-Inch Forged Paring Knife

World Cuisine 2-3/4-Inch Forged Paring KnifeI was looking for a French style fluting knife like the one pictured on Amazon with a sharply pointed triangular blade and a rather straight cutting edge and with a rat-tail tang set into a one-piece handle with a metal ferrule where the blade joins the handle. The knife pictured on Amazon looked to be just what I wanted. Unfortunately, the knife I received was a German style knife with a much more curved cutting edge, a forged bolster at the base of the blade and a two-piece handle attached to the tang of the blade with rivets. It doesn't seem to be a bad knife, although the finish was a bit rough, but was not at all what I was looking for or what was pictured on the site. I returned the knife and asked for a refund.

Twin Four Star 2.75" Parer

Twin Four Star 2.75' ParerWe have the rest of the set of these knives they're the real deal, although don't loose them (as we did) as replacing the individual knives is expensive. The rest of the ones in the set have held up very well under daily use and infrequent maintenance or sharpening. We don't put them in the dishwasher (duh) and they hold their edge very well. Worth the money.

Manchester Brown Canvas Zipper Silverware Chest

Manchester Brown Canvas Zipper Silverware ChestThis is a wonderful product. Just the right size if you have extra steak knives as I do. I inherited my mother's silver and after years of having her keep it in plastic bags (that can't be good for silver, can it?) I decided it was time to give it a good home. I am so pleased with this product. It holds the entire set plus various serving pieces as well. Very sturdy, very well thought out. It was perfect for my needs.

This is a good value. Two aspects could be improved though. Better fit on the removable knife holders and a better quality zipper.

LamsonSharp 4" x 9" Jumbo Chef's Slotted Turner, right-hand

LamsonSharp 4' x 9' Jumbo Chef's Slotted Turner, right-handEverytime I use this spatula, I recall the scene in Uncle Buck where John Candy was making pancakes on a big piece of sheet metal & a snow shovel then says, "This is where you separate the men from the boys." All joking aside, this spatula is well made & it'd be the 1st thing I grab for a big job. Its smaller model is excellent too but this one is best when you need that little extra help. In addition to it being a well made spatula, it's great if you want to pretend to be Wolverine on a cooking show. Schwinnng....I cook what I wanna cook, bub.

Seriously, there is no spatula that compares to this (for this style of spatula, of course). For the amazing quality of this, it's absolutely dirt-cheap. You will never have to buy another one. Ever. Even expensive varieties, such as A11 Cl@d, use a separate piece of metal delicately welded onto the metal in the handle, which can rust. This has only one piece of super high-quality metal making up the whole thing, enclosed in a high-quality handle. The metal is thin enough to be ever-so-slightly flexible, yet sturdy enough to pick up surprisingly heavy things. (Again, very high-quality metal.) I would expect something of this quality to be at least $90. I got this larger one, because sometimes I make crèpes, frittatas, etc., that benefit from a larger surface; yet a small thing, such as a single fried egg, will work nicely, too. This thing is amazing! Buy it. Now. You know you want to... ;)

Shun Kaji Fusion 8-Inch Chef's Knife

Shun Kaji Fusion 8-Inch Chef's KnifeThis knife was a birthday gift from my husband who tends to buy things because they look "cool" and not necessarily because they are the best at what they do. Let's just say I opened this knife up and thought, "HOLY COW, Now that's a knife!"

Here are my observations after several months of use:

The substantial blade is razor sharp-and has stayed that way. It slices through tomatoes and london broil like a hot blade through butter-no "sawing" motion required. I typically have a knife for each job around the kitchen, but this knife does the job of several, quite easily.

I was initially surprised how well the handle fit in my hand. The handle has grooves where you fingers rest, and I thought that perhaps they would feel oddly placed, as my hands are quite small. This wasn't a problem... and the knife felt very natural.

I did a little research, and read that the design of this handle is unique in that it places your hand in "the perfect position in relation to the blade for less effort and fatigue." Hmmm... I don't know if I have ever felt "fatigue" while using my other knives, but I do see now how I was never holding the handle properly, forcing the knife with pressure to cut, chop and slice. Knife-science...who knew?!?!

I find that my other knives are getting little use in my kitchen. I reach for this knife again and again.

I'm hinting to my husband that another knife in this line would make a great Christmas gift.

Overall sharp blade, good heft and right size. If you take care of this knife it will last a lifetime.

Handle: I have small hands and honestly some knifes have such a long handle it feels a bit awkward. When I used this knife, I felt like Goldilocks, it was the right size. The handle has these grooves which helps with placement of your fingers, allowing you to cut with minimal effort. I was able to cut thin slices of salami without thought and no sawing motion. With my other chef's knife, I always had to concentrate on the right placement as it did not feel natural. No such worries with this one.

Blade: Aesthetic wise, I love the designlooks like it could have come right out of my Fable game. The blade is very sharp and it cut through the Thanksgiving ham as if it was butter with minimal sawing motion.

Weight: There is a good weight to the knife, heavy enough to be substantial but not so heavy that it is burdensome.

The knife is expensive but worth it because it is a great staple knife that will work for the majority of your needs in the kitchen.

I admit that I have a bit of a steel fetish which is limited by financial restraints. That being said, I took a chance and treated myself to the Shun Kaji Fusion. The shipping was quick and tonight I had an opportunity to use the knife to cut potatoes for home made french fries. I have used Wustoff knives for many years in the kitchen and have been satisfied. This however was a completely new cutting sensation. Very minimal pressure was required to glide through the russet potatoes and the pieces did not stick at all. I have larger hands (6'8") and the knife fit very well, my wife (5'2") tried the Shun and she was amazed at how balanced it was, which speaks to the manufacturing of the implement. Expensive...yes, but fit, form and finish are immaculate. If you want to cut a tree...a can and then have to slice a tomato perhaps not. If you want a knife that will be a cherished, beyond surgically sharp and designed to last generations, look no further.

I bought this on a lightning deal, and was a bit hesitant since the price was still much more than I ever thought I would spend on a knife! Let me tell you, I do not regret my purchase at all! This knife is wonderful! Its extremely sharp and the handle has a nice grip with grooves, so I dont ever feel like the knife will slip. Its a good weight, heavy enough to know its not something flimsy, but not overwhelming. I have owned one other Shun knife, and both are FANTASTIC!

Herdmar "Luxor" 18/10 Stainless Steel 5-Piece Placesetting, with Mirror Finish

Herdmar 'Luxor' 18/10 Stainless Steel 5-Piece Placesetting, with Mirror FinishVery expensive (this is service for one), but the pieces are heavy and feel sturdy. However, I'd like to point out that this company tends to make everything a lot larger and the handles are longer. For reference, the larger pieces are 8 inches long and the smaller pieces are 7 inches long. The knife is 9 inches long. This may be harder, for example, for the pieces to balance in small bowls. As a reference I've only owned this product for less than a week.

Kyocera Revolution Paring and Santoku Knife Set

Kyocera Revolution Series Paring and Santoku Knife Set, White BladeThese knives took a little getting used to at first. They just have a different "feel" than my high-end steel knives. At first I thought I might cut myself but you get used to them quickly. It's almost spooky how easily they glide through food. You can make tomato slices so thin you can almost see through them! They are almost all I use I'll wash and re-use my ceramic knives before going to the rack for a steel one. My only problem is my wife and squabble over who gets them when we are cooking together...

I have one of these and I must admit that they are heaven to cut with. Really, you have never used a sharper knife I can assure you. The blade is VERY brittle. no matter how careful you are you will chip and nick the blade. I must admit that even though my blade is chipped like crazy, after a year of use, this knife is still sharper than anything thing I have used. I have to maintain the edge on my Henckel Pro-s knives on a regular basis. At their best they are not as sharp as this damaged knife.

(See my ONE YEAR UPDATE at the bottom of this review.)

First let me make it clear I do not own THESE ceramic knives, but I own some that are similar. I am writing this to help people to understand ceramic knives better. After looking around, I bought the Tachi three knife set (with black blades), mostly because I wanted more than 2 knives. I am not disappointed. In fact, these knives have become my preferred knives for almost everything.

Ceramic Knives are an up and coming thing, but they have advantages and disadvantages. I also bought some Stafford Worldwide Ceramic Paring Knives and I compared all of these very closely to the Kyocera Ceramic Knives, and I find them to be fairly similar. The Tachi knives are sharper than the cheaper Stafford Worldwide knives, but the Stafford knives are still quite sharp.

Advantages of Ceramic Knives:

1. They retain their sharpness for many years, far longer than any steel knife.

2. They are quite inert and do not rust or react to food and chemicals.

3. The blade, at least, can withstand very high temperatures, up to 1,400 Degrees F., and it doesn't hurt the blade. Whether the handle can withstand these temperatures is another matter.

4. The blades are lighter weight than steel.

5. Because of their lack of reactivity, these knives clean up fast and easily.

Disadvantages:

1. Though the blades are sharp and retain their sharpness, I cannot say they are sharper than steel blades. Certainly razor blades are sharper, as are surgical scalpels. A good, sharp carbon steel blade would also be sharper, so don't get confused or expect too much. The advantage is not that they are super sharp, but that they are quite sharp and they RETAIN their sharpness. A carbon steel knife will stay sharp for about a day of hard use. Stainless steel knives will stay sharp for weeks to months. These knives will stay sharp for years.

2. The blades are not STRONG. They are made out of Zirconium, the same thing that is in Cubic Zirconium, and Cubic Zirconium is a very hard substance, second only to Diamonds. But they lack the crystalline structure of the Cubic Zirconium. On a molecular level they are instead an amorphous ceramic, almost like glass, and though they don't dull easily, they will break VERY easily if put under any kind of twisting motion, side to side motion, or similar bending stress, or if they are struck against a hard object such as stone or bone. They also might break if dropped on a tile or cement floor.

I strongly recommend you ONLY use it to cut on plastic or wooden surfaces. Vegetables and boneless meat are the premier uses for these knives. Buy yourself a nice counter top butcher block knife holder to keep these knives in, and always hand wash the knives and put them back into the block. Don't leave them in the sink where they might get broken by heavy kettles or plates being placed on them.

Having said all of the above, if you want a sharp knife that will stay sharp and last for many years with proper care, then this certainly is something with which you could be happy. These actually are now the sharpest knives in my drawer, including sharper than several (older) sets of Cutco knives. I rate it four stars ONLY because of the general lack of toughness that ALL ceramic knives have, NOT because of any inherent defect in this product.

-----------------------------------------

ONE YEAR UPDATE. I have now (as of April 23, 2011) had my ceramic knives for over a year. They seem 'almost' as sharp as ever (probably 90 to 95% as sharp as they were at the beginning). However, despite excellent care, washing by hand, and NEVER using them to cut against bone or hard materials, my knives have developed some small nicks and 'divots' in the cutting edges. This is especially prominent in the largest knife. I have no idea how these nicks and divots occurred. I think they are just something that you need to expect with these knives. The 'defects' are quite small and seem to have minimal effect on the sharpness and cutting ability, but there is no question that they are there. Just be aware that this probably something you just need to expect with these knives. Sharp they are, but 'strong' they are not.

My assistant at the Inn, trained in culinary school in Paris, told me about these ceramic knives. I have a wonderful namebrand set of steel knives that she ribbed me about not being very sharp and that ceramic knives were better. I was curious, so ordered these to find out if they are as sharp and easy to use as she said. And now I can say first hand, that they are! I love cutting tomato slices that thin! Still need my steel knives for boned meat and bread cutting, but so glad that I ordered these for the fruits and veggies that we use so much of at the Inn.

Alaska Ulu Knife and Chopping Bowl Set

Alaska Ulu Knife and Chopping Bowl SetI have bought three Ulu knife's (2 as gifts) over the years and my daughter wanted one now that she has her own kitchen. She selected this one from Amazon because she thought it was just like mine. Turns out that the bowl is about 1/2" deep. Mine is more than an 1" and therefore keeps whatever you are chopping captive. We use it for chopping nuts, chocolate, anything you want to be kept captive as well as herbs. I am returning this item and will find a replacement with a deeper bowl shape.

I've had my Ulu Knife about three weeks and a day does not go by that I don't use it for slicing &/or chopping! Its very efficient as it does not take up a lot of space on our counter. I use both sides for depending on the job and the knife is very sharp and very easy to use... Plus it cleans up super easily! In my opinion a must have in your kitchen.

I know most people purchase the item as a display piece. But I use mine. I live in Texas and it is really handy when cleaning game and the chopping board is concave enough that you can really chop fresh herbs. But if you only want to display it, it does have the Alaskan flag that is laser etched (I think, it is definitely not painted). It stays sharp even while cleaning deer. It chops vegetables with ease. My wife likes that it fits in the drawer neatly and is easy to clean and maintain.

Calphalon LX Series Cutlery 5" Santoku

Calphalon LX Series Cutlery 5' SantokuThis knife is great! My favorite part about it is the curved handle. Very comfortable in my hand. Its a great size to slice smaller things like shallots, garlic, limes, etc. Very happy with this knife and will use it for years to come!

Once I purchased the 7 inch Santuko, I stopped using the 5 inch. After I bit I removed the 5 inch from my block. I have had no stain issues, but I wash my knives right away. The quality of both knives is tops. The 7 incher is just dramatically more effective.

I bought the 5 inch santoku before I bought the 7 inch, and I still love the knife. The five inch is good for smaller jobs where the 7 feels a little big. If you are deciding between the 5 or 7 inch, I will tell you to get the seven inch, especially if you have large hands. For dicing smaller veggies, especially mushrooms, this knife is hard to beat. The entire LX line was well constructed and will definitely last a life time. The previous poster complains of rust issues, I have not experienced this with any of the 5 lx knives I have. These are great. The only drawback I see is the thick blade spine, but some feel this is a good quality.

I received this knife as a gift. It cuts very well and is extremely sharp. I very much like the way the knife feels in my hand, but it is a bit small for people with large hands. Wusthof Classic Ikon two piece starter set

Wusthof Classic Ikon two piece starter setThere are really two main competitors in the high-end mainstream kitchen knife market: Henckels and Wusthof. Those who have used both usually have a preference. My preference (and therefore bias you should know about) is for the Wusthofs.

The Wusthof Grand Prix line is a more modern design than the Classic series, with a simple black handle. The balance and grip of these knives are as close to perfect as I have found. For those wondering what benefits a higher priced knife provides, one benefit is that the blade (or tang) is one piece all the way through the handle. This makes the blade much stronger, and less likely to snap.

This set includes an 8 inch chef's knife, and a 3 ½ inch paring knife.

The 8 inch chef's knife, is a great knife. Wusthof offers three sizes of chef's knives, 6, 8 and 10 inch. For most home cooks, I think the 8 inch knife is the best choice. The 6 inch is a bit small for bigger jobs, but the 10 inch is too big for most jobs. While the 8 inch isn't perfect for all uses, if you are only buying one size chef's knife (and most people only buy one), this is the one I would recommend.

As for the 3 ½ inch paring knife, this knife falls into the category of overkill for me. Most cooks will get by just fine with the 4 ½ inch utility knife. There is really no notable difference in size for the vast majority of applications between the 3 ½ inch paring knife and the 4 ½ inch utility knife. I prefer the 4 ½ inch utility knife, but the 3 ½ inch paring knife will do the trick for most tasks.

This set is a good deal; however, if compiling a set myself, I would include the chef's knife and the 4 ½ inch utility knife. Judge for yourself.

I grab these to knives first. This is the perfect starter set, as you can do most anything with these two knives. The larger chef knife is perfect for when cutting meat, vegetables, dicing herbs, and so much more. The smaller knife is perfect for when going after the smaller vegetables, or fine cuts. These knives are high quality, that can't be beat. They hold a blade very well, and have a good weight in your hand. If you like a pistol style grip these are the perfect knives for you. I honestly can't say enough about these high quality knives.

Misono Swedish Carbon Steel Sujihiki 10.5" (27cm) - Right

Misono Swedish Carbon Steel Sujihiki 10.5' - RightThis is a beautiful knife and a great performer. It is easy to sharpen and takes and keeps a really sharp edge. It is light in the hand and looks cool with its logo and dragon engraving. It slices effortlessly through meat and fish. It has a thin edge so be careful not to try cutting through bones or frozen foods because you may chip the blade. Other reviews of this knife express concerns that, because of the carbon steel, that it is overly reactive and can rust. You can expect that the blade will start to take on a patina right away. I have owned mine for around 10 years and it is now completely gray-blue. I think this adds character and does not affect the performance of the knife at all. I take proper care of mine and rinse and dry it after use. This is all you need to do to avoid rust. I'm really not concerned about the rust situation and have really never seen any on my blade. The patina now protects the steel. This is a $200 knife so give it the proper respect. No dishwasher, keep it dry and touch it up on a sharpening stone now and then and it will serve you well for generations. You will be happy with this knife as a sashimi knife as well as a carver. I highly recommend it.

Acrylic Plastic Products Cutting Board, 9-Inch by 12-Inch

Acrylic Plastic Products Cutting Board, 9-Inch by 12-InchFor a inexpensive chopping board, this product is just fine. Unfortunately, after the first dishwash, the plastic legs came off, but as they were mostly unnecessary, I didn't care. Gourmet cooks will probably require a higher standard (and price), but for the average household, several of these boards are perfect.

These acrylic boards are superior to other types of cutting boards I have tried. They do not stain, do not retain odors, are effortless to clean and dry, and storage is also easy. I have three different sizes (this is the one I use the most). I also have a larger size for dinner preparation for larger groups, and a small-sized one that I can hang on my kitchen utility storage rack. Works great for cutting cheese, chopping veggies (especially onions). I would like to see these come with different designs available to help coordinate with other kitchen decorations, or when giving as a gift. I am thinking of looking for some waterproof window decals to stick on the underside of the board, such as flowers, garden vegetables or cute little animals. I always wash my boards by hand -I do not use a dishwasher nor do I let them soak in the dishwater.

I think these are more sanitary than the wooden ones and they are easy to clean by putting them in the dishwasher. It's a good size. I have about 5 of them and I wash them in dishwasher after each use. They scratch eventually, but not much. Those little feet always fall off, so I don't even miss them.

I mainly bought this because it is clear and I can leave it out on the counter without it appearing in the way in the kitchen. As others have mentioned, on of the "legs" did come off after a couple of weeks but I put it back on (without any additional adhesive) and it hasn't come off again several weeks later. I'm not an expert on knives but from what I've read, this is not the best surface to have to maintain a nice edge.

Bottom line: If you have a nice knife collection and need something to preserve them, stay away from this and any cutting board like it. If you don't care about your cutlery and just need something cheap to cut up veggies on, this may be the item for you.

I have a bad habit of cutting right on my counter because I'm too lazy to get out a cutting board to slice something small and quick. I stayed at all suites hotel recently where they had one of these on the counter. It blended right into the counter and was there when I needed it. Right after i got home, I searched and found this one. Now it has a permanent home right on my counter and gets used almost everyday.
