F. Dick Ergogrip 7" Fillet Knife, Flex.

F. Dick Ergogrip 7' Fillet Knife, Flex. The title says it all. Bought this knife a few months ago and just got to use it. Filleted a salmon caught just this weekend, and WOW. Dangerously sharp, flexible (but not too flexible), excellent handle size and grip. Was worried about the point not being "pointy" enough to start filleting or getting under the skin. No worries now. Although the blade curves to a point, it is definitely sharp enough at the point to do the task.

Will probably buy two more one for a gift and one for the camper!

The product arrived promptly and proved to be a wise, frugal purchase among the myriad offers which are far more expensive.

Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 6-Inch Utility Knife

Chicago Cutlery Walnut Tradition 6-Inch Utility KnifeThis is, in my opinion, the best all-around kitchen knife you can buy. And is, to boot, one of the least expensive. Perfect hand fit, and the blade width and length are such that it is INCREDIBLY versatile. I use it to slice, de-bone, core, fillet, you name it. I can't think of another knife that you can use to core a small jalapeno pepper as well as slice prime rib. I've used mine daily since I got married almost 19 years ago.

Note: a high-end sous chef told me about 10 years ago that, if you pay 15 dollars for a knife, you are overpaying, and you only need two knives at most, a utility knife (like this one) and a bigger chef's knife for fine chopping veggies and smashing garlic. And then with a pair of squeeze tongs, a saute pan, a sauce pan, a stock pot, a collander, there's your kitchen, and you should pay no more than 100.00 total for all. And "You should actually pay less than 50.00 for the whole set because you should buy it all at a restaurant auction. Otherwise you're throwing yur money away."

This is a good knife for the price. To me it does not feel as balanced or precise as my 6 inch Henckels Four Star but then it is also a fraction of the price. The knife feels particularly appropriate for butchering meat.

I've owned several Chicago Cutlery knives and have never had a complaint about any of them, of which most are still in use. This one is no exception. Appears very well built and a quality product. No complaints. I highly recommend it.

Have been using my orignal knife set for 18 years. Couldn't ask for better. This one was for my daughter. When I visit I cook and can't stand not having great cutlery. A tip to all never put these in the dishwasher. It will ruin the walnut handles. Keep them oiled with whatever is available in the kitchen including bacon grease or olive oil. My grandfather used to oil his Saw blades with a fat meat skin from his smoke house. It worked

I've had this same knife for atleast 15 years. I have used this knife for just about anything in the kitchen. Since I am not living by myself anymore I had to buy 2 more just to be able to cut something. My original knife is still like new and I sharpen it myself often. As with all wooden handled knives, hand wash it, do not throw it in the dishwasher. The heat from the dishwasher also messes up the edge of the blade anyway. Also use cutting board oil or mineral oil on the handle once in a while so it does not dry out and crack. Chicago make good quality knives. I love this knife.

Set of 5 Cheese Knives - Stainless Steel with Rosewood Handles

Set of 5 Cheese Knives - Stainless Steel with Rosewood HandlesThis set is beautifully constructed and appears to be made by Chicago Cutlery, which is the manufacturer of another set I own that is no longer being sold.

The blades are both sharp and sturdy. I have used the knives/cutters on different densities of cheeses and the right knife for the right cheese works perfectly. Among the cheese densities I have used them on are soft cheese (brie), medium (gorgonzola) and harder cheese (Parmigiano-Reggiano). The spreader (second to the left in the photo above) is superb for mascarpone and spreads like cream cheese and herb style spreadable cheeses. The small fork in the set looks cool but I honestly have to say that I have never used it, nor have I witnessed any of my guests using it.

You definitely need to hand wash the knives and other tools. I fear that even one cycle in a dishwasher would damage them. They are easy to clean by hand so this requirement does not diminish their utility or value as far as I am concerned.

Overall, if you entertain or like me have a cheese addiction this set is great. I will disclose that I purchased my set locally and paid more than these are going for here. I also seem to collect cheese knife sets, so I have more than a few with which to compare this set and can attest that it's a value. Also, if you are a serious cheese connoisseur you may want this set plus Boska Holland Explore Cheese Set, which will add additional cutters to your arsenal.

Arcos 6-Inch 150 mm 2900 Range Chef's Knife, Red

Arcos 6-Inch 150 mm 2900 Range Chef's Knife, RedI got this knife for my young son, who likes to help in the kitchen but isn't big enough to wield our 8" chef's knife yet. I have actually had trouble teaching him to use the rocking, slicing motion with it because it's so sharp it STICKS in the polyethylene cutting board. The handle is big and a little rough-textured, so the grip is good even if your hands are wet. The blade is thin without feeling at all flimsy, and wonderfully, wickedly sharp. My son occasionally catches me using it when he's not helping me and tells me not to use HIS knife.

Figured the price was great, and I can see why. Look like they may last 3 months. The forks, only ones in order, are not standard dinner size, they are salad type. Oh well.

Tsubaki knife oli

Tsubaki knife oliWould love to know the science behind this oil and why it works on knives. I thought that vegetable oil would suffice in protecting my carbon knife, but this works so much better, and curbs the rusting so that it forms a nice patina on the surface of the blade. Feels pretty dry, similar to the "dry" oils my girlfriend uses on her skin. No wonder Tsubaki oil is used in skin-care products too. It's not a once and for all, full proof protection from rusting, but I'm glad I made the purchase as it provides a very good resistance for the knife, against all the acids and liquids and corrosive compounds it comes in contact with.

I bought this to keep my Japanese sashimi knife looking pretty while I wasn't using it. After a while, the metal of carbon steel knives will darken and turn dark grey as it oxidizes. This black rust isn't bad it's Fe3O4 and it protects the knife (as opposed to red rust) but does not look as nice. Putting some of this on a rag or paper towel and rubbing it on the knife before putting it away will keep it looking bright and shiny, protecting it from any corrosion.

I recommend cleaning up your knife with a "rust eraser" first to get rid of the oxidization and then rubbing this oil into the metal to show off your expensive knives.

Buy Tsubaki knife oli Now

This is the only oil I would use on my High Carbon knife. It doesn't leave any funky residue on the blade and is completely food safe. A little goes a long way too. This bottle lasts for a long time. Highly recommended for anyone who needs to protect their knife from rust.

It has a different feel than cooking oil. A drop on the knife and it looks shiny and slick but does not feel "oily" at all. The only negative: all the info is in Japanese so I do not know what is the composition and if I am supposed to remove it from the knife prior to its use

Zelco Mangia 3 Piece Set

Zelco Mangia 3 Piece SetI had the original Zelco Mangia from years ago, and while the new one is a touch lighter in weight (thinner gauge metal), there is no difference in quality or construction. In fact, I prefer the lighter weight for traveling :) It feels less industrial and a little more sophisticated and modern.

I have used this picnicing, traveling, at work and have a few in my car for impromptu picnics. There is always a set in my travel bag.

The only issue I have with the new Mangia is that the inside edge of the hollow knife handle is sometimes sharp and unfinished. Be careful!

What it is and how it's put together:

If you haven't already, click on the detailed product photo above:

* The knife blade is just under 3", actual serrated cutting area is just under 2.5". The 1/2" remaining is the end that is next to the handle and is flat and blunt to prevent accidentally cutting yourself while opening and closing the utensil.

* The handle is a hollow square tube with the knife welded solidly inside at an angle. This divides the square tube into 2 equally sized triangles.

* The fork and the spoon are wrought from a solid sheet of stainless. The handles are bent inwards and form a shallow "V"

* The V-shaped handles of the fork and spoon slide into each of the triangles formed by the welded knife.

* The knife is only welded halfway inside the handle. The bottom half contains one large pinch-spring that holds the spoon and fork in place when inserted.

* Because 1 large spring holds both the fork and the spoon in place, the first utensil out and the last utensil in are the hardest and this most likely when accidents happen.

How to safely remove and insert the fork and spoon from the knife:

Removing:

1) Spoon side facing you.

2) Hold the Mangia in your hand thumbs on the spoon, where the bowl becomes the spoon-handle. Push your thumbs firmly and gently forward (making sure your right thumb is on the spoon and away from the serrated edge of the knife) until the tip of the spoon slides over the tip of the knife.

3) Continue sliding or flip the Mangia over (fork side up) and grasp the widest part of the spoon and pull it out and away (in the direction AWAY from the serrated edge of the knife).

4) Flip Mangia over again (fork side down), and repeat step 3) with the fork. Again, out and AWAY from the serrated edge.

Putting the Mangia back together:

1) Holding fork at widest point by the tines, insert into knife handle.

2) Push all the way down until the end of the fork touches the spring at the bottom.

3) Insert the handle of the spoon.

4) Using a firm surface like a table or countertop, push the spoon into the Mangia as far as it will go.

5) Hold the spoon at the widest part and gently and firmly push it in the rest of the way into the Mangia so that it touches the spring at the bottom.

How to get the cover on:

* The blunt end of the blade sticks out beyond the handle by a bit. This has to fit inside the cover.

* Make sure the fork and the spoon are fully inserted and touch the bottom end of the spring in the knife handle.

* The Mangia fits together the way it first came in the box: Serrated edge facing left, fork above and spoon below.

Additional notes:

* The hollow tube the knife has for a handle is actually much more comfortable than it looks. It adds weight and balance.

* The Mangia is heavier and sturdier than many cheap utensils out there. These are not flimsy utensils and are not easily bent.

* The serrated edge is very sharp and strong.

* The brushed finish on the inside lower 1" of the fork and spoon will get marked by the spring mechanism over time.

* Do not leave the knife soaking in the sink. The spring might rust because it is made of a different quality metal.

* The Mangia comes packed in a box that can be easily wrapped for gift giving. (See added photo)

I like these and bought four total different colored caps. Some seem to be from a different production design because the caps secure themselves differently. I love usig these for packed lunches as they stay together and travel well. Woudl be five stars except that sometimes certain spoons or forks can get stuck in the knife part, I think this is from different production runs or something Most of the time they all fit together well and come apart easily to use. But when they stick you have to use force the spoon and fork help sheild you form the knife edge, but if you grab the spoon and fork with your thumb right behond the spoons bowl and have to yank them apart it can slip and cut you, like it did to me. Maybe I should have just gotten all with the same color cap cover so they would all be consistant

I only bought this set in order to have covered silverware to keep in my desk at work. The case does not stay closed or fit properly. Even when I remove the silverware entirely, I cannot get it to close, let alone stay closed.

Other than that, the silverware itself is sturdy and fits together well. If you do not need a case to cover the part that goes in your mouth, I would recommend this set. If you plan on traveling with it or keeping in a drawer and want the case for sanity reasons, don't bother.

When both Form and Function come together like this, the result is magic. You could set a table with these, they're so clever. Or you could take them on safari. The design is both elegant and practical. You'll be happy you own one even if you seldom use it. As travel flatware goes, it's a brilliant work of art.

We took Mangia tool sets to China, where knives and forks are not always available. The knife, fork and spoon pack neatly into the plastic cover, and a set is not too heavy to carry around. The cover could be a tad larger it is a snug fit, and the cover on one of our sets cracked when snapped shut when the implements were not quite nested together perfectly. The cover was handy following a meal, when the cover could be snapped over the implements and the food residue was prevented from making a mess inside a pocket or purse.

Multi-Colored Exotic Wood Handled Ulu with Stand

Multi-Colored Exotic Wood Handled Ulu with StandI actually ordered a lesser Ulu Knife, but they were out of stock, so they upgraded my order at no additional charge.. I am writing this review based on the knife that I was sent, NOT the one that I ordered.... First off, if you have never used an Ulu, be warned, these are VERY sharp, and VERY powerful! I have used Ulu's to cut through frozen meat 3 inches thick. The handle position allows the user to lean in and use body weight to power the knife through whatever it is you wish to slice... As for the wood handle and stand, they are very beautiful, but they are unvarnished and susceptible to water damage during cleaning. (I varnished mine myself... No biggie).. Otherwise, if you are careful not to submerge the knifeor basein water, it is an excellent knife for everyday use.. Very happy with this purchase!

*** BEWARE THIS IS VERY VERY SHARP, SO USE CAUTION WHEN USING ***

I was looking for a knife that would cut my herbs and filet chicken or fish with out having to WORK hard at it, being I am an older person and my poor hands and joints aren't 20 any more... then during a search I found this Ulu knife... being I never heard of one my curiosity was peeked. Reading the reviews and then watching you tube on how to use such a cutter, I was hooked! I had remember seeing one similar, used in a movie once and didn't think much about it at the time.

I first bought just a plan wood grain, after using it 1x, I came back to purchase this BEAUTIFUL multi colored one which goes perfect in my kitchen.

One review I read stated the wood was not varnished. Using Butcher Conditioner ( which by the way you use on your cutting boards to keep them conditioned and is NOT harmful to the body), helps keep the wood from cracking & drying along with giving it a protected coating during washing, (of course you will want to wash with mild soap and water and dry right away as you would any wood items in your kitchen ) I use this at least once a month to keep it protected and to keep the beauty of the wood ( to me if you invest in good items in your culinary then you will want to keep them top condition )

I loved it so much I now have one stashed for my grand daughter's hope chest, ( she wants to become a semi profession chief for her family & self only ).

I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone with a caution warning as i stated above.

The ulu, as a tool, is a wonderful thing! This ulu has a beautiful layered wood handle and the stainless steel used seems fine. My wife says it works like a champ on veggies. The only negative that I can see is that the edge wasn't sharpened for about 1/4" on one end of the blade. When I have to sharpen the edge, I'll fix the problem. Otherwise, a great tool for the money!

True Fabrications 4-Piece Cheese Tools Set

True Fabrications 4-Piece Cheese Tools SetThis set does everything I need. Four different tools to cover all of my cutting and serving needs. A handy set to have for a reasonable price!

The only reason I didn't give this set 5 stars, is that it doesn't include a cheese plane. For soft cheeses like Gouda, a cheese plane is the best tool.

These tools look nice and they can go in the dishwasher. I expect them to last a long time. There are no joints, just one solid piece and the handle is very comfortable and solid.

I'm going to look and try to find a matching plane.

United UC1337 Knife Storage Case Small Holds 15 Knives

United UC1337 Knife Storage Case Small Holds 15 KnivesThis knife case is not what I expected. A lot of my knives have wider blades (i.e. wider handles) and there wasn't enough elastic to accompany all of them. If you have a bunch of small knives like kershaw leeks, butterfly knives, etc--this would be perfect for that. But when I was putting in my SOG Vulcan VL-03, Benchmade Barrage and Spyderco knives, the elastic just wouldn't stretch anymore. It's not like each knife has it's own little band of elastic. For 4 knives, it's the same 2 strips (side by side) of elastic, so if you put in a large knife, it's going to pull the other 3 slots of elastic tighter. I hope that makes sense, it's hard to describe. For the price, it's not that bad, but is definately room for improvement.

**I posted pictures as well to show what I'm talking about

This case looks great online and once i got it and tried putting my knives in it not all of them fit because there was only a limited amount of slack in the elastic. So i had to improvise and all my knives have pocket clips so i clipped them onto the elastic bands instead of having the bands hold them into place. The case itself is very nice and it will do a great job at protecting your knives from scratches and it is also a very nice display case once you have it opened.

I have 8 knives,,each on stand by for EDC...I'm not a knife collector,,but wanted a small nice looking case to keep my great 8 protected and dust free..This case does the job....Elastic holds em down....Red cover cloth keeps em scratch free...The "leather feeling" material has a nice look and touch....

The little packet that comes inside of the case (seals out moisture)I leave it in there with the knives....

This can hold 15 or 16 small to medium sized knives (I wouldn't fit a knife that was over "5 inches closed" inside)......Overall Great Case

The product itself is not bad but it will not hold larger knives easily. I have a few different SOG, Benchmade, and Boker knives that fit, but pull the elastic so tight that fewer than 10 knives fit total.

Arcos Forged Riviera 7 Pcs Beechwood Knife Set

Arcos Forged Riviera 7 Pcs Beechwood Knife SetThese knives arrived beautifully packaged in an elegant Arcos box, shouting out 'quality' from the start. It looked so smart that I almost wanted to leave them in the box. The set itself has also more than lived up to my expectations. The smart Beechwood block houses a truely exquisite set of knives, with one to meet my every need from an everyday paring knife to a ham/salmon knife (which is a real luxury). I love that it even includes a sharpening steel, and I now have to learn how to use this properly. The knives are very well balanced and their ergonomic handles make them very comfortable to use. The blades are razor sharp and simply glide through everything they meet a real pleasure to use.

We own an iittala pepper mill, and we agree it looks very nice, and the hammer-head mill mechanism makes it quite usable. However, we are more concerned with the ability to mill pepper relatively fine, not too fine, just not getting large chunks of pepper. At first, this mill did just that, but after a relatively short period of time, it no longer was able to produce the same fine grind. We will continue to investigate to find a longer laster fine-grind pepper mill.

Farberware Classic Paring Knives, Mixed Colors, Set of 4

Farberware Classic Paring Knives, Mixed Colors, Set of 4Wish I had known the dimensions of these tiny paring knives before purchasing they are too tiny for my average-sized (female) hands to use for much of anything and the blade is so thin it can't handle cutting with any force. Here are the dimensions to help in your decision:

Handle: 3.5 in. long and 0.75 in. wide at widest part

Blade: a whopping 2.25 in. long and less than 0.5 in. wide.

Unless you have petite hands I'd skip it.

not as sharp as I hoped they would be for quikcut knives. My old quickcut knives are sharper. too bad.

Chef'n PrepStation, 3-in-1 Cutting Board

Chef'n PrepStation, 3-in-1 Cutting Boardthis prep station is ok but complicated. the sides have a tendency to pull out when you are trying to use them. if you leave them in a little further, there isn't much room to use them. the side to drain items, doesn't hold much. Browne Foodservice MWS91R 8 1/4" Right-Hand Magna Wonder Slicer

Browne Foodservice MWS91R 8 1/4' Right-Hand Magna Wonder SlicerI've been looking for this knife for about 10 years. My dad purchased one for my mom through a restaurant supply catalog years ago. I love it to cut bread and I know that I can pre-slice an entire loaf and it will be the right width for a sandwich --not too thin, or too fat, or end up with only half a piece. Never had a problem with my mom's dulling.... I can't wait to get my own!!

I was very hesitant about purchasing this knife, primarily because of the high cost. I shopped around and found it for about $55 online including free shipping, so decided to go ahead. SO GLAD I did! It cuts bread perfectly, even hot out of the oven. I didn't want to be locked into a jig, especially as so many reviews commented on how flimsy most are. And, by the time you get a jig plus a knife long enough to use it, you will spend almost as much. The ability to adjust the knife to your preferred thickness is wonderful and I love the consistency. Also useful for portion control. We use it for roasts and blocks of cheese for the same reasons. I just got this knife, so I am sure we will find several other uses as time passes.

This bread knife is well-made, sturdy, and very sharp. The mechanism for adjusting the thickness of the slices is easy to use. I had a bit of trouble with keeping the knife perfectly vertical so the slices are uniform all the way to the bottom crust, but that is improving with practice. Any kind of bread cuts easily, even if it is hot.

Yoshihiro Cutlery NSW Hammered Damascus Usuba Knife, 6.3-Inch

Yoshihiro Cutlery NSW Hammered Damascus Usuba Knife, 6.3-InchGreat customer service and wonderful product! If you are looking for a high quality Japanese knife that is a value, please consider purchasing from Yoshihiro!

All in all, I highly recommend this knife. It's perfectly functional, being sharp right out of the box, and it has a lot of aesthetic charm to it. In comparison to my Shun Premier knifes, this one is more "rustic." The blade is less polished and refined looking (IMO) than those on the Shuns, but it has a rustic beauty that I happen to really like. The handles on the Shuns are treated, finished, and perfectly smooth right out of the box. The wooden handle on this one, in comparison, is completely untreated and wasn't sanded very well out of the box. Outside of color variations in the bolster (which are clearly stated in the description to happen), my knife looks exactly like the images here so the description is spot on.

I'll start with the blade. The steel has a good sturdy feel to it, and the fit and finish are consistent along the whole length. The edge was sharp right out of the box which should always be the case, but hasn't been on every brand that I've bought. The layered steel on the bevel is very attractive and polished, and the hammered upper area is an excellent look.

The shape of the blade is what got my attention and inspired me to buy it, as I'd never used a knife like this before. My Shuns come to a very fine thin tip, and I find myself worried that I'm going to bend the tip (which certainly could be unreasonable, but I am nervous about it) when I'm cutting through something and the tip hits the cutting board with a lot of force. The lack of a sharp tip at the end makes it easier for me to cut with simply because I'm not worried about damaging the tip, and I can fly right through cutting veggies. Shun makes this same type of knife, and I might like it just as well.

Now for some notes on the handle. The wood is completely unfinished, as least as far as I could tell. That surprised me, so I was disappointed. It might be traditional, so I might have had the wrong expectations but I wanted to note it in case you were also thinking that it would be treated in some way. Although the shape was spot on, the surface roughness was sub-par, IMO. Honestly, I would have gotten a "B" at best in eighth-grade shop class if I had left it like that. Due to the outer finish, I felt compelled to lightly sand it down. After sanding, which took very little time, it looked and felt much nicer. Being untreated, though, it just soaked up water when I washed it. I applied mineral oil three times, and it soaked it up quickly each time. The mineral oil improved things, but it still looked too unfinished to me so I ordered some Howard Butcher Block Conditioner because it contains waxes that coat the surface. After using it, the handle is starting to really look and feel nice to me. I wish that it had been treated with something before it arrived, considering the cost of this knife. Since that might be traditional, I didn't deduct a star but I did deduct a star because it required sanding.

I agree with Rubbertoe that the handle feels light compared to my other knives. That said, I find cutting vegetables with this knife to be very easy and...I've got to say...enjoyable. I've learned to grip it higher up on the handle, which puts it into balance for me.

I wanted to make sure that you knew about the handle being unfinished, but I do recommend this knife. The handle can be treated once you get it, and the overall feel and look of the knife is great.

First thing first, this is not an usuba. It's a nakiri. It has a 50/50 double-bevele edge, not a single bevel edge found on an usuba.

I've been using this knife for a few weeks now, chopping, slicing and cutting every vegetable I could get my hands on. It is a traditional vegetable knife, so I'd rather not use it on meat (and I don't even want to consider using it on anything with a bone in it). As such, it has a much thinner blade (than a chef's knife, for example), is super-sharp but would probably get nicks in it quite readily if it were to be used on bones. The hammered Damascus blade is very beautiful and slices through vegetables with the greatest of ease. Also, the saya is a nice addition and fits snuggly on the blade. This knife, however, is not a full tang knife (I've read elsewhere that traditional Japanese knives are not full tang). My only complaint about this knife (albeit a minor one) is the handle. The knife feels a little out of balance because the handle is so light and while magnolia wood is waterproof, the handle is unfinished so after wrapping the knife in a towel for transport, I found little splinters forming from the friction of the towel. All-in-all though, I'd recommend this knife to anyone looking for a nice, affordable Japanese knife.

Long Sashimi Rib Sushi Knife

Long Sashimi Rib Sushi Knifethe knife is great for the price, i do not like the raw wood handle but maybe thats just how these knives are? i cover mine in foil since while working with rice and raw fish my hands are wet. the knife needed a quick sharpening once it arrived. i will also be ordering a hone stone set to keep this knife sharp. it cuts threw fish VERY well. it cuts threw my sushi rolls nicely too. its not that great for cutting cucumber but, maybe thats just how sashimi knifes are. i will use this only for fish and cutting sushi rolls. it was a Christmas present and i love it.

So you basically get what you pay for. If you're looking to buy a memorable sashimi knife I encourage that you spend over $200.00. If you're a novice and you're just starting sushi, this knife is decent.

This knife is OFF THE CHAIN and Sharp Mon!!

This thing Can CUT SOME FISH GOOD. Im able to slice the skin off my salmon with little to no effort.

Only down side is only one side actually looks like a knife. flip this sucker over and you have this flat peanut butter looking knife. And Im sure you can make some good peanut butter sandwhiches with it. But dont waste the use of this knife. The only reason why I dont give it 5 stars is because its like a one sided knife. But I love it, my wife loves it, and my Fish loves it --Well not really but you get my point.

Totally Bamboo 3-Piece Set Bamboo Flatware, Fork, Knife and Spoon

Totally Bamboo 3-Piece Set Bamboo Flatware, Fork, Knife and SpoonThis flatware is _TOTALLY_ bamboo, and totally flat. Some reviewers rated this one star because there must have been a wrong picture before. The picture must have been fixed because I got exactly what was shown, flatware made out of bamboo only.

I think this is very good quality flatware, it has a kind of burnished finish so it repells liquids. I used the spoon to eat soup and it works great without soaking up the soup. One thing to note is that this is really flat, so the spoon isn't ideal for eating soup but it works for me.

For me, one advantage of using the bamboo instead of metal is it won't ever scratch your plates, and the spoon and fork will never scratch your teeth. I also like that they are so light weight.

The only qualm I have is that the knife serrations are not very good. The purpose of serrations is to decrease the apparent angle of the blade next to the teeth (making it sharper), while still maintaining durability. The serrations on the knives don't even have an edge at all between the teeth! They are not terribly effective at slicing anything, and must be used more like a rip saw, leaving lots of crumbs. Also, due to the weird serrations, food gets stuck between the teeth and is really hard to get out.

Overall, these aren't 100% perfect, but they are very good. I'm docking a star for the poor knife serrations and because it makes the knife blades so hard to clean. 4 stars

I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The utensils are constructed entirely of bamboo and are very durable. I used the knife to cut through a sandwich with no problems. The utensils are naturally antibacterial and were not treated with any harmful finishes. I put them in my bag and bring them everywhere to use instead of disposable utensils. In fact, I took them to Disneyland last week and they worked out great for me and my family.

Well proportioned bamboo utensils are not only attractive, but also useful, and quite washable. I was impressed that the knife was so sharp. These are lightweight enough to use for backpacking or traveling and presumably won't be confiscated at the airport. I bought four sets and am pleased to set a unique patio table with them. Plus they're perfect for the Green Movement.

I was not looking closely and did not realize it is so small. The quality is good, and eventually I found a way to use them, but it will be so much better if they are normal sizes.

Love this product...cheap...and just what I wanted. I bought the set to use on my non-stick camping cookware. I only use the spoon, and I had to cut it down about an inch so that it could nest inside the cookware...but the spoon is flat enough to do double duty as a spatula, and still deep enough to eat soup. The set is lightweight...renewable...resistant to microbial growth...and does not scratch the coating on my cookware...who could ask more for the 3.00 I spent?
