Victorinox Ceramic Chef Knife, 6-Inch

Victorinox Ceramic Chef Knife, 6-InchCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program The most used knife in my kitchen is a smaller santoku knife. So trying this out as a substitute for that knife made good sense. My santoku is a steel knife, sharpened regularly, and I use it on vegetables and meat both, cleaning it when I switch cutting one to the other.

Using this one the same way I used my other knife just wasn't an option. I tried. I really did. But the fineness of the blade had me shaving carrots, cutting paper thin slices of onions, seeing how many slices I could get out of one crimini mushroom. The manual said that it could be rinsed between cutting things, that the blade wasn't very porous and would rinse clean enough to go from one thing to another without flavor or scent transfer. Absolutely true. I rinsed it, and the onion scent came right off of it.

Then I got to the steaks I was making for dinner. My plan was to cut them into decent portion sizes. Same thing I'd do with my santoku. By then I was just having too much fun cutting. I cut sirloins into strips across the grain, raw and not partially frozen, and it cut so nicely that I wound up yelling for my husband to come see. He was impressed with how well it cut.

The handle is easy to hold, and it weighs very little. The sharpness of the blade rather than the weight does the cutting.

Now, about ceramic knives, I've wanted one for ages, but I wasn't sure. So this was my first ceramic kitchen knife. I'm probably going to replace most of my knives now. They do need to be hand washed. I use hot water, a bit of detergent and a soft dishcloth that I crocheted and they come very clean. The other thing about them is that they seem a lot more fragile than they are. You can literally see the logo through the blade when you hold it up to the light. I chopped and sliced and treated it the same as I treat my steel knives. It held up just fine. They are also very light. The white blade and black handle combined with the complete lack of heft made me think of it as being toy-like straight out of the box. Using it ended that perception though. It's a fine kitchen tool. One that I'm just thrilled to have in my kitchen.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Have had a set of Henckels Four Star for years and am still very satisfied---so why a ceramic knife? I found an interesting article about knives that discussed ceramic. Here is what I found: Ceramic holds its edge at least 10 times longer than high-carbon steel, it has a much lighter weight, almost a non-stick surface, it is much harder than steel (close to a diamond), hygienic, and it is so easy to clean---and most important I love trying new things in the kitchen! I also found that you should not expect ceramic to replace your steel knives, but rather, compliment them. Like most good things ceramic has its down side. Hand washing is preferred over the dishwasher, should not be thrown in the knife drawer with other utensils, should only be used for up and down cutting on fruits, veggies and boneless meat, don't try prying a lid off with ceramic-----why you may ask. Ceramic is brittle even though it is strong, it can chip or break. Now for the good stuff! I just don't enjoy sharpening knives, when they fail to cut through hot butter I will do what is required. So the sharpness of this blade lasts 10 times longer than steel? I'll just believe the description, as mine is nowhere near needing the blade honed, I have read the same thing on several other ceramic reviews and have no reason to doubt their findings. I cleans up just with the wipe of the dish cloth, the blade is hygienic because of the hardness.

Have cut carrots, potatoes, sliced bell peppers, ripe tomatoes and the most impressive was a loaf of rather soft french bread. Did an exceptional job on all the ingredients for a wonderful stew. Fruit salad is another great use for this blade, the apples, pears, oranges etc. did a terrific job.

I do feel that if you love to cook and enjoy good knives you probably would find this knife as one of your favorites and a great addition to your knife collection. I use a knife block. The sheath would probably be a good investment to protect it, if you don't have a block. This knife has become a favorite in our house.

Hope your experience will be as positive as ours if you choose to buy this knife.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've been using this knife for two weeks now, and it's the first ceramic knife I've owned. My first impressions have persisted throughout that time: it feels very light, and it's very sharp.

I am a little nervous still about the longevity of the edge. I've reached for my kitchen steel more than once, and then sadly put it down unused after I realized that it's not appropriate for this knife. Straight out of the package, this knife had that just-steeled edge that can slice through a tomato skin like it's not even there. Within a week though, even with great care, I found that the knife lost a little of that keen edge. It's still quite sharp, but not perfect anymore. Otherwise the edge seems stable now and it will be interesting to see how long until it actually needs sharpening, and how difficult or expensive that will be.

The logo on the blade wore off after the third use; I'd rather they didn't put one on at all.

But overall, I'm very happy with this product. The light weight makes it comfortable to use, and it handles all normal kitchen slicing duties with ease.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This is not my first ceramic knife, so I can tell you after six years of use, I have broken the very tip off my old one. With constant use, I have sharpened it only five times. I forget now just how I or somebody broke off that 1/8 inch but it bothers me every time I look at it. Probably, this mishap has prevented me from doing any more damage, even though I use it much more often than its steel counterpart. So know these knives, while harder than steel, are brittle. Do not chop with any striking force. You can chop all day long with a rocking action normal to a chef's knife. No boning. And take care not to let it fall on the floor. And even I am not lazy enough to put this easy to clean knife in the washer, but you could if it did not bang against anything else to nick the blade. That is it. I am done with the bad stuff.

Victorinox has long made one of the best steel blades in the world. I have a dozen in my arsenal, from the giant fourteen inch lobster knife that made Crocodile Dundee skee-daddle, to my flexible fish fillet rapier. Unlike their French and German cousins, they sharpen more easily. For ceramic knives, use a diamond surface only. I have a 6000 grit block and an F. Dick oval diamond wand, rather like the traditional sharpening steel. By the way, you will no longer need a sharpening steel for this knife. The teeth do not bend over as do steel ones, hence their need for the steel to stand them back up. I sharpen my steel knives after maybe six uses of the steel. I sharpen my ceramic blade one for every five times I sharpen my steel blades on the oil stone.

This blade is made in Japan, where all the best work in ceramics has been done for decades now. This blade composition is far more pure than my old one. The finish is near perfect compared to my old one, which already made my steel blades seem uneven in comparison. And this blade, while brittle, is more flexible than the previous generation or any inferior make.

This knife is light; you can slice and mince for hours with less fatigue. The size is perfect for a wide range of jobs. The six inches gives you substantial size with maximum blade control. The three of this line would account for easily 80% of your knife work, maybe 90%. Lastly, I have a couple of guilty memories, finding a rust free steel blade a mess in a slight puddle the morning after a major cooking job where it was somehow mislaid in some dark corner. I polished for hours and often as not, not to my satisfaction. There is nothing you can do with these knives that you cannot with steel, unless it involves high voltage or sulphuric acid. They will not replace your boning knife or meat cleaver or pry-bar. But it is dang pretty even with the commercial grade handle.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Ceramic kitchen knives have a number of benefits over standard metal blades: they maintain their sharpness for far longer, they do not pit if used with highly acid or alkali foods, and they have a lighter weight, leading to greater chef comfort if used for an extended period of cutting. The downside of ceramic knives is that they chip easily don't drop it, use it to cut frozen foods, or use it to cut bone-in meat/chicken. They're fine in the dishwasher if they won't hit against other items. Ceramic knives are simple to wash because the ceramic has such high density that it cleans up easily and quickly.

The Victorinox knife available here has a very effective white blade; I just cut several pounds of sushi into thin slices, using it instead of my usual Pure-Komachi, which has a stainless blade. I found the ceramic blade to work just as well, though I prefer the handle of the Pure-Komachi. The proper grip of a chef's knife involves placing ones fingers on the blade itself; the Victorinox handle design is such that there is greater comfort if you don't hold the knife in this manner but rather simply hold the handle. The blade gets five stars; the handle gets three, giving us a 4 star total.

Addendum: The knife lasted two months, before meeting its end as we used it to halve a delicata squash. These are thin-skinned varieties which are firm but which I wouldn't have expected to destroy the ceramic knife. My mistake. I'm leaving the four stars on the basis that the destruction of the knife was on me for not understanding its limitations. That said, and as lovely as the knife was to work with, I'll return to metal knives for now.

Further addendum: Although the knife was sent back to Victorinox with an explanation as to how the knife broke, I received nothing back from Victorinox no response at all and not even an email to say that the knife arrived. Customer service is at a low here; even if Victorinox felt that I was unworthy of a replacement, perhaps having determined that I received the knife as a review model, or maybe feeling that no right-minded knife bearer would use their tool on an unsuspecting squash, they had my email address. Send me an email telling me their side, so that I would stop wondering if the knife ended up at their Warranty Department where I'd sent it. Lousy customer service shouldn't be supported drop from 4 to 2 stars on that basis.

Furi Rachael Ray 4-Inch Paring Knife with Blade Guard

Furi Rachael Ray 4-Inch Paring Knife with Blade GuardIf you are planning to replace this with one of your pairing knives that came in a furi set, do not order. The quality is not the same and it will not fit in your knife holder that furi supplies. It is ok as a knife on the side to use but not the quality that furi normally puts out. In fact the color is not even the same as it has a slightly off color handle compaired to the sets. Would I order this again. No.

I agree with other reviewers that these knives are not of the same quality as the paring knife that comes with the set, but they are also not the same price! For the price, these knives are excellent. They are very sharp and so far have kept their edge. If you are looking for a REALLY good inexpensive knife, this one will fit your needs.

Chicago Cutlery Essentials 2-piece Set: 5" Partoku Knife, 7" Santoku Knife

Chicago Cutlery Essentials 2-piece Set: 5' Partoku Knife, 7' Santoku KnifeI have owned a Santoku knife for quite a few years. In my opinion it is the best, most versatile design in a knife thats available. They can either be used as a cutting, slicing knife for preparing your veggies, or as a small cleaver for the thicker cuts. I really don't know what the indents on the side of the knife are for, but they all seem to have them. I am sure there is a good reason for them, I just don't know what it is. Like just about everything else you can buy, these knives come in a wide array of prices and promises as for being called the very best. What I wanted for a second set was something that was quality made and would stay sharp, without spending the price of a new microwave. My old knife is a Chicago Cutlery, and it is a full tang very thick blade of good quality and a comfortable handle. I pretty much chose this set based on my old knife. When they arrived they had the very same blade design and insignia, but were definitely thinner than my old knife. Full tang, (meaning the knife extends all the way through the handle), but the blade was a good one third thinner than my other knife. Despite this difference, I still consider both knives to be well worth the price for the average home chef or homemaker. They arrived extremely sharp and can easily be made to stay that way with just a simple sharpening device. I would have to say that despite these being a definite cheaper version of my original knife, they carry an edge like nothing I have ever owned before. They are almost dangerous to use. Be careful and don't make any slip ups when using them. And one other thing, the larger knife is quite a bit thicker than the smaller one, but I feel you will have much more use for the 5 inch. Its just not that often you will need a 7 inch slicer/cleaver unless you cut a lot of big pieces of meat or anything else tough. If you feel the need to just own one of these knives, I would suggest the smaller ones available. However together these make a nice set that can handle just about anything your kitchen can offer up.

In conclusion, you can definitely buy better knives for a lot more money. But unless you do a lot of cooking every day for a large number of people, these knives are a very decent price, quality made, and as noted before, carry and sharpen to a superior edge. Highly recommended for the everyday homemaker on a budget..

Chicago cutlery makes thee best kitchen knifes [in my opinion]. I had a pair of these from 1993 and one day i was just cutting and the blade broke. I sent the company a e mail and told them that i originaly bought these in a 2 pack and within a week, i received a brand new pair of the same-no questions asked. Ive never had a blade just snap before and i think its very nice that they sent me a new pair.

Wusthof Classic Ikon Serrated Bread Knife

Wusthof Classic Ikon 9-Inch Bread Knife, BlackWe make our own bread every week, so this gets a lot of use.

We've used several lesser bread knives over the years, but were never quite satisfied. We've been very happy with our other ikon series knives, so decided to give it a go.

It took 4 order attempts (we kept recieving the 8") and two years before we finally got our hands on the 9" ikon. I'm glad we held out. That extra inch really makes it easier to slice. The 8" knives force you to make smaller strokes which makes it more difficult to get nice, straight cuts. This thing is very easy to handle and makes a very smooth, straight cut.

Bought this as a Christmas present and decided i needed one myself. The 9-inch is just the right size for all types of bread. I use it to cut tomatoes, too, sometimes. I've had it for over a year and it is just as sharp as it was when I received it. I highly recommend it.

Robinson Knife 61323 "Sunbeam" 4-Piece Measuring Cup Set, White

Robinson Knife 61323 'Sunbeam' 4-Piece Measuring Cup Set, WhiteThese have all of the qualities that I was looking for in measuring cups, that some others do not always have.

They are made of a hard plastic, so they are stiff and sturdy, but not flexible.

The handles are a little shorter than most, only 2 inches long, but it is just fine for me. (I have shorter fingers.)

They snap together at the handles for easy storage, taking up little space at 3 inches high altogether.

And then, I like that they pop apart for individual use, no ring or clip in the way holding them together like others have.

The measurements are on the handles, and they are raised markings, which is what I wanted, because the painted on measurements always wear off and become unreadable. But keep in mind, these markings are raised from the plastic, so they white on white, and that might be hard to see for some people, so that may be undesirable for you.

Set includes: 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup, 1 cup. They are compact sized as individual cups, and also when stacked together, though a bit taller, but I like that they are not so wide as others. Cup sizes range from about 2-3 inches in diameter, and 1-3 inches in height. The measurements are also marked in smaller print in ml: 60 ml, 80 ml, 125 ml, 250 ml.

No frills... Just a handy set of measuring cups. Nests well which is what I was looking for so that it would store easily in the kitchen drawers.

They work like they should. They are also very sturdy. There is nothing connecting the cups so it's important to make sure they are lined up together so you don't lose one.

These measuring cups are just what you would expect. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there is no 3/4 Cup measure. They are durable and hold up well in the dishwasher.

We have a nicer set of measuring cups (though I can't really tell the difference) that we use for baking, and we purchased this additional set for measuring out our two puppies' dry kibble (don't want to mix the people and pet measuring tools!). They are sturdy, have lasted through the dishwasher, and seem to be accurate. The price is right!

Misono UX10 Gyutou 7.0" (18cm) - Right

Misono UX10 Gyutou 7.0' - RightI've been a knife geek and knife sharpener for almost 40 years. I have over 30 high end knives from single steel blade construction to 33 layers Damascus. I love all my knives but this knife is special. After all the research that I do and consistantly see this knife as one of the top rated production knife series made. I have to agree to the max. It is like no other knife that I own. It is the easiest knife that I have ever sharpened and you can work it like a dream. It has the right amount of flex and is a complete joy to use. It is expensive, however, is worth twice the price. Only one issue for anyone looking for a hefty knife, this is not the one for you. It is lightweight but performs better than any hefty knife that I own. I've been sharpening knives for almost 40 years and the edge that you can put on this knife is unbelievable. Highly Highly recommended.

Bambu 24-Piece All Occasion Veneerware Utensil Set, Natural

Bambu 24-Piece All Occasion Veneerware Utensil Set, NaturalI don't know why you would try and wash these and reuse them, they are intended for a single use only, and it clearly states that in the product description.

Liked some of this flatware used it with the bamboo plates. However, the knife is next to useless it looks like it should cut well, but the edge is very dull and because it is not serrated, you have to saw at your food to get it to cut. We used it on a Calzone made with pizza crust and ended up having to hold the crust with the fork and tear the pieces off with our hands. NOT good. Will not order these again unless they find a way to make these cool-looking knives actually cut! And the spoons seem very shallow we didn't really need them for dessert, but I would think for something like ice cream or something with any liquid to it, they would tend to drip over the sides as they are relatively flat. As the pieces all are, attractive but that doesn't trump usefulness.

These utensils cant be washed in the dishwasher or submerged in the sink. So essentially you arent supposed to wash them or they will warp and then fall apart. I dont see the point in utensils you cant get wet!? I originally bought them because I like how bamboo is an environmentally sustainable material, and I do not like to use plastic. But these are just completely useless, and if you put too much pressure on them when they are dry they will just crack! Please do not buy these, they are only decoration and not real.

Magnolia Yanagi Knife Sheath 270mm (10.6")

Magnolia Yanagi Knife Sheath 270mmHandsomely made and a perfect fit for my 270mm Yanagi even though it was from another manufacture. Best way to protect the oneself from the razor-sharp edge of a Yanagi and to protect the edge from damage during storage.

Only disappointment is that it has a hole drilled to fit a paper clip instead of the ebony pin usually used to secure the blade.

Excellent value!

Happy Hour 10530 4-Piece Wine Set in Round Box

Happy Hour 10530 4-Piece Wine Set in Round BoxThe product itself was in good condition. The retail box it came in looked like it was 10 yrs. old and was damaged. I ended up taking the product out of the box before giving it as a gift. My only real complaint is the items are so snug in the case they are very hard to get out. Anyone who is elderly. lacks hand strength and/or has medical issues with their hands would not be able to get them out. Had I known this before I purchased I would have looked for another product.

Oneida American Harmony 45-Piece Set, Service for 8

Oneida American Harmony 45-Piece Set, Service for 8American Harmony (also known as Arbor) has an elegant yet simple design, and is nicely balanced in the hand. It coordinates nicely with both traditional and more modern tableware. The finish holds up well through multiple trips through the dishwasher.

There also is a coordinating silverplate pattern called Silver Arbor, and a festive-looking gold-edged one called Golden Arbor. All are reasonably priced.

Original order contained several defective teaspoons (indentions along sides of spoons). E-mailed Amazon regarding problem they instructed me how to send items back. Returned three spoons which had the imperfections. After UPS had picked up package Amazon sent E-mail informing me the entire 45 pieces were to returned (this had not been mentioned in the two previous correspondences). After several polite but useless phone conversations with representatives in India I received another complete set of flatware ..... with yet more defective spoons included in the set. Attempted to contact Amazon by both phone and E-mail calls went to India once again and E-mail replies were generated form letters which did not address the issue at hand. Removed three good teaspoons from the replacement set and returned the remaining 42 pieces but not before Amazon sent me the incorrect return label which was going to cost me an additional $10.00 to have UPS pick up from my home had to drive six miles to hand deliver package to the "nearest" UPS substation. I will not purchase from Amazon again this was my third and final order. Customer service and communication is completely lacking.

These skewers took forever to ship. When I received them, I was surprised to see that they were just thrown inside an unsealed plastic bag with a sticker on it saying "Confezione 10 Pezzi Spiedini". Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pro-S 18-Piece Knife Set with Block

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pro-S 18-Piece Knife Set with BlockI have used my new knives for about a week now and am extremely impressed with how easily they but through whatever I'm trying to cut through, and how perfectly they feel in my hand. Their weight, and extreme sharpness, allow you to exert very little effort in slicing through food. I compared them side-by-side to my other store-bought set of knives, and even after using the sharpening steel on the old set, I just couldn't achieve anywhere near the same degree of razor-sharpness as have the Henckels. Not that it matters to me, but the 8 steak knives are stamped, rather than forged, but they are still extremely sharp none the less. Unfortunately, however, the knives do not comes with any care instructions, nor instructions as to how to use the sharpening steel. It took some Internet research and some practice on my old knives to begin to feel comfortable sharpening these. In any case, you can't go wrong, albeit the price is pretty high for this set of knives.

I take exception to Mr. Michael George's (Scottsdale, AZ.) reveiw of this knife set, Henckels Pro "S" series and forged, bolstered knives in general.

If he has been a professional for 14 years then he should have learned the term "bolster" by now...and he should have been able to sharpen his knives properly without wearing the edge out...he's probably using an electric sharpener or sending them out. The culinary school reference is questionable also...Le Cordon Bleu uses Mundail knives...etc.

This a top of the line set and shouldn't be maligned out of ignorance. If you learn how to use the steel that is provided and a good fine stone then these will last you a lifetime.

We defend the honor of these mighty fine blades with 6 mojo*z

The main knives in this set are advertised... from the Pro S line, beautiful and excellent quality.

However, nowhere in the product description does it say that the steak knives are not Pro S knives, but in fact serrated much lower quality knives from the Gourmet line.

I had gone back and forth in my mind between buying Henckels or Wusthof knives, and was incredibly impressed with some non-serrated Wusthof knives the other night at a nice steakhouse. To find out that I had inadvertently bought a set of lower-end serrated knives was a disappointment. I would have willingly paid more for an all Pro S set of knives, so this is unfortunate.

I purchased this set in December of 2011 for Christmas. It clearly states on the Amazon advertisement and on the Henkel website (at least before I contacted them) that this is a 18 piece "PRO S" set. No where did it mention, not even on the packaging that it was a 9 piece "PRO S" set and a 8 piece "Gourmet" Steak knife set! I contacted the manufacture about this and there answer was the following. "if you look at the picture of the knives, you will clearly see that the steak knife was stamped and not a forged piece". I do not know about you, but I did not and think that this set is clearly misrepresented. PLEASE NOTE, YOU ARE ONLY RECEIVING 9 "PRO S" KNIVES IN THIS SET!!!. The manufacture knows of this and still continues to market it as an 18 piece "PRO S" knife set. The interesting thing to note, if you refer to the Henkel website now, they made a change immediately after I contacted them which basically admits fault. Just on principle alone, I would not purhcase another Henkel product as they are clearly using a "Bate and Swith" tactic to sell their knives in some instances. I think the PRO S knives are fantastic but this set is not worth the money, even at the "Discounted" price they sell for. Why would you advertise a set as a "PRO S" WHEN NEARLY HALF OF THE KNIVES IN THE SET ARE NOT REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE QUALITY OF THE "PRO S" SERIES!!! As you can tell I am very upset by the whole issue and will not do business with the HENKEL company again. I used to have lots of respect for the Henckel company as they lead me to believe that they were above this type of tactic to sell a high quality knife but I think it is clear to me that in order to maintain their sales volumes, they have sacrificed on quality and have resorted to misleading customers. I completely respect the opinion of those who disagree and hope that you do the same for me. I just want all to know, this is only a "9 piece PRO S" and not the 18 piece PRO S set they advertise.

Assuming you have also read the other reviews (you should there's good info there) I must concur with Mojostarz. Although I am not a professional chef, I have used this set (completed by the 6" Meat Cleaver and the 7" Carving Flat Fork) for probably over 6 years now, every day. Sharpening knives is a serious hobby of mine. I have sharpened these blades many, many times on my stone in the years I have owned them. They are not bowed, nor are the blades edges at all noticeably shorter than the metal bands at the back. They still cut "all the way thru" just about everything. (So watch out, that means your clumsy fat fingers too.) I can even get the steak knives pretty good on the stone. You just have to ease off right before you feel the serrations on the right side. The steak knives are very difficult to sharpen because they have a kind of undulating shape to the blade, but I can get 'em pretty good if I concentrate.

I'm not going to re-invent the wheel, because a lot of good information has already been said. I will add this:

1) These Professional "S" knives are excellent. If you understand the very fine art of how to restore an edge with a fine grit stone and some oil (my preference) to a blade when the sharpening steel is no longer enough, you will be very happy with the way these Pro "S" series blades respond. I can get mine as good or better than new when sharpened, just wicked sharp. Especially if you have tried to sharpen cheaper knives and wondered why your efforts just don't seem to "take" as well. They are well balanced, the grips have the best ergos ...they're just a pleasure to use. If you don't know anything about sharpening a knife, at least learn how to correctly steel them. There are some excellent videos on YouTube. Maybe the Henckels site includes this in their "Instructional Knife Skills" web video. If you sport this kind of quality in your home, live it.

2) Don't put them in the dishwasher please.

3) The 19 slot wooden Henckels block looks REALLY LOPSIDED and "sad" without the carving fork and cleaver.

4) Don't pass them around with Hors d'Oeuvres or leave them all night on serving tables when you have big parties and everybody gets sloshed. Because when people think they're "helping" they may actually be dumping one of your prized knives into the trash.

Tramontina Teaspoons - 36 pc.

Tramontina Teaspoons - 36 pc.Don't plan on scooping any hard ice cream with these spoons and they'll be fine. These are plan spoon. They are not even curved to strengthen them. However I can't complain about their price. I'm happy. Would have given them 5 stars if they were more than pressed steel.

Celtic Charm Cake Serving Set

Celtic Charm Cake Serving SetVery pretty. Matched other Celtic Charm pieces perfectly. They are not the highest quality but served the purpose of cutting my sisters cake at her wedding.

Pretty but fell apart. When I took them out of the box one of the Celtic charms fell off. I wouldn't reccomend them.

Wusthof Classic 7-7/8-Inch Scalloped Panini Knife

Wusthof Classic 7-7/8-Inch Scalloped Panini KnifeSaw an introductory ad for this knife in a recent edition of a cooking magazine. I thought it would be a good knife to use for slicing crusty breads that we like to eat. Not only does this work well for bread, it is easily slices meats, tomatoes and the variety of sandwiches I make. Very comfortable handle and nicely balanced, this is going to be one of the most often used knives in my collection.

This has rapidly become my favorite knife. Bought it to slice the artisan bread I bake.

Have been using it for paper-thin slices of tomato and onion and even an eye round roast.

Incredibly sharp (I do wood carving, and am fussy about sharpness), and a handy size and weight for most of what I do.

Pretty happy with this knife.

Definitely not a "must have" in the collection, but it does get used.

The angle of the handle and the length of the blade make it useful where the longer bread knife is too much.

Same quality and sharpness I have come to expect from Wusthof.

We've always had good luck with Wusthof knives. This is no exception. Unlike regular serrated bread knives, this knife cuts through the thickest loaves and densest sandwiches without bashing your knuckles. We're just sorry we didn't find it sooner.

Professional chef for 20 years...I bought this as a gift for my pastry chef. I think I need one too! The scalloped edge is smooth, so not so abrasive as some new "serrated" knifes. Very high quality.

Zyliss Serrated Paring Knife, 4-Inch, Red

Zyliss Serrated Paring Knife, 4-Inch, RedI first used this paring knife on some steaks I grilled. It was perfect! The blade is very high quality, stainless steel, and has a non-stick coating. This also works great on tomatoes to peel and slice without bursting the tomato. The ergonomic handle is awesome! It has a nice soft grip that allows you to ensure optimal precision cutting and control. Plus, it's dishwasher safe, so clean up is really is. There's also a protective cover so you can store it safely and take it with you to your next BBQ or picnic!

Overall, the Zyliss Serrated Paring Knife does a great job. The rubberized grip on the handle is very comfortable and makes the knife easy to hold. It's the perfect size for an all-purpose paring knife, and it's nice and sharp (and won't require sharpening in the future, which is great!). The protective slip that comes with it is really nice, particularly if you keep your knives in a drawer instead of a block.

The only negative thing I have to say (and this is more personal preference than anything) is that the knife is a little too light-weight, and that combined with the plastic handle gives the knife a cheaper feel than other heftier knives. Other than that, though, I really do like this knife and think it's been a great addition to my kitchen.

The knife looks as sharp as it is. The serrated blade easily cuts through tough skins and makes paring a snap.

I like the red, plastic cover that comes with it so I can store it in a drawer without worrying about slicing my finger open.

All in all, it's a cute and sassy looking knife that works well. Not much more to say than that!

SET 12 SPOON RESTS

SET 12 SPOON RESTSThey might be great in a play house. Not so much in my real house. I suggest passing on these.

recommended to all that has trouble finding a spot to lay that wet ice tea spoon. it's that extra that people of yesteryear just knew how to set an elegant table.

I found them to be very inexpensive looking, with an alum. feel rather than silver, and they were very small. I was hoping for rests for serving spoons and there were specific for tea spoons.

These spoon rests are small but I like the versatility of them. I have used them for larger serving pieces on a buffet and they don't take up too much room on the buffet line. They can also be used at individual place settings on a formal table. Watch the price as it is always fluctuating.

Set of 4 Grapefruit Spoons with Serrated and Pointed Edges

Set of 4 Grapefruit Spoons with Serrated and Pointed EdgesThese are the best grapefruit spoons I have ever had. I like the points on the spoon tips. They work very well. I will most likely buy more of these.

I've never had a grapefruit until a couple of months ago. It was at that time I discovered you really can't eat it without the special grapefruit spoon. As a total grapefruit novice, I don't really know what constitutes a great spoon and a bad one. All I know is that these worked perfectly. I guess you could maybe find a nicer quality but it works and doesn't bend when slicing out the fruit. Not sure what more I would want? And, I wouldn't be horrified if a houseguest used it, so they're not that terrible.

Works as advertised!

This comes with sharp edges to get the good stuff out of the grapefruit, however, it may also cut into your tongue.

These grapefruit spoons work wonderfully. There really isn't anything aesthetically pleasing about them, and they came with stickers with barcodes on EACH spoon. These weren't any ordinary stickers. It took me 5-10 minutes and a lot of patience to take each sticker off. Other than that, These were definitely worth what I paid.
