Misto 3pc. Salad Set with Gourmet Oil Sprayer, Knife, and Peeler

Misto 3pc. Salad Set with Gourmet Oil Sprayer, Knife, and PeelerI already owned one of these, purchased from Sam's club. (For my expensive olive oil i cook with...) I wanted another for my Orville redenbocker's fake butter oil spray. Found it here on Amazon, (prime of course,) and snatched it up. Got a second lettuce knife, and peeler i don't need, just to get the oil sprayer. this is actually one that works well, over an extended length of time, multiple daily uses.

Highly recommended.

The frosted glass bottle Misto is what this purchase was about. Bottom line they can break. If this thing rolls off the counter and hits the tile floor, it is going to break. If you forget it on top of the BBQ lid, and then open the lid... It is going to break. If these seem like extremely specific examples of how to break a glass Misto, you're right.

What keeps me coming back in spite of my clumsiness is the fact that it is see-through glass. You know when it needs to be filled and by how much. If you love your Misto like I do, the transparency is a tremendous benefit. I use it every single day, no exceptions. The only problem is that the frosted glass version seems to have been a limited time manufactured item because they are almost impossible find anymore. The only way I could find a replacement was in this three-piece set. The other two items are a waste a plastic knife and gimmicky peeler. Who cares? This set cost about $1 more than a non-transparent, metal, standalone Misto so I gladly bought it. The peeler is in the drawer and it may come in handy if all my other ones are in the dishwasher. I'm waiting for an excuse to through away the kindergarten chef's knife. And "yes," totally worth it.

The knife works well and the sprayer is ok. The peeler rotates and is really hard to clean, not recommended

Arthur Court Grape 8-Inch Plate with Cheese Server

Arthur Court Grape 8-Inch Plate with Cheese ServerThis was a disappointment. It was much smaller that I expected and the quality for the price is just not there. Big disappointment.

I have always loved the Arthur Court Grape Series, and this is no exception. It's a small plate to serve brie or other similar cheese or rich small dessert. It looks lovely on a small breakfast table for two. Very well made, functional as well as decorative.

Messermeister Pro-Touch Teflon Spatula

Messermeister Pro-Touch Teflon SpatulaI ordered a bunch of spatulas at one time. Can't say I have used them equally, so it's not a scientific test, but the head of this spatula has separated from the handle already--looks like it was held on with just a bit of glue. I will try to reglue it, but thought I would provide the feedback.

This is one of the best spatulas I have used

The material is great dies keep the shape under hig heat and is confirtee to work with.

ok my husband and I argue over the spatula...I love its length he doesn't but then I don't get how he can use a broken one when I bought this great one!

I wish it were a bit smaller which would make it easier to flip pancakes. Otherwise, I feel safe using it on my teflon frying pan.

Want Messermeister Pro-Touch Teflon Spatula Discount?

The description for this spatula on the Messermeister website claims it has a "stainless steel neck and Teflon spatula head." That got me interested, since Teflon is far more heat-resistant than the nylon these spatulas are normally made from. I've been irritated/annoyed by how easily nylon spatulas are damaged by the heat of normal cooking, and thought that Teflon would be a very sensible material to make spatulas out of.

I was skeptical that the Messermeister spatula would really have been made of Teflon. I felt it was far more likely that it was just another nylon spatula, and that the person who wrote the description didn't know anything about plastics. Still, I was willing to give it a shot.

Well, I was right. The Messermeister spatula is made of nylon, not Teflon. It melts at normal cooking temperatures. It is an okay spatula for its type, but no better than hundreds of other cheap plastic spatulas. I'm giving it two stars because the description is confusing at best, deceptive at worst.

My search goes on for a good heat-resistant spatula. There are very heat-resistant plastics out there that could be made into spatulas, but they are more expensive. You would think that premium cooking supply houses would offer at least one high-end plastic spatula, but nobody seems to have one. Looks like there's a business opportunity for someone who wants it.

Chef's Knife 8" (Bulk) - Kershaw Knives 9945, Knives Kitchen/Chef

Chef's Knife 8' - Kershaw Knives 9945, Knives Kitchen/ChefThis is a wonderful knife, I have many very expensive knives and for the money this is the best of the lot. It has a wonderful heft, it is easy to grasp, it cuts superbly, and it is so sharp it rivals my Kramer Damascus blade. I had originally bought a Kershaw sheath knife for camping and discovered what a superior blade it is, i immediately went out and bought a chefs blade for the kitchen. I do not allow anyone in the house to touch a couple of my knives, they are so sharp, and this is one of them.

Sage Pizza Peel

Sage 12 by 18-Inch Pizza Peel, NaturalI got this peel a few months ago and have used it a number of times. I was initially attracted to it because of the FSC certification and the size but really like how thin it is. When the pizza is done it slides under without shaking off any of the toppings. I will be getting one of the cutting boards soon.

You could probably find something cheaper but this pizza peel is very nice and does the job perfectly. I use it for loaves of home-made bread, sprinkling it with cornmeal so the dough slides right off leaving almost no sticky residue. It only needs a wipe with a damp paper towel for cleaning.

I've used the peel a couple of times since I got it and it works really well. Seems sturdy and like it will hold up to use.

I would definitely not buy this again! It's a nice enough peel but I did not think this one through properly at all. 10" is too small unless you are making little mini pizzas or flat breads. Overall quality of the peel is good; it is very sturdy & feels like it will last a very long time.

Want Sage Pizza Peel Discount?

I purchase this peel along with a pizza stone and found both a bit on the pricey side but wanted to give the whole thing a try. Have only made pizze once since receiving them and spread out the pizza dough on the peel and then added the toppings. When I went to slide it off on to the pizza stone (that was preheating in the oven), it was sticking to the peel and spilled sauce and toppings onto the stone. I did use flour on the peel before stretching out the dough. I think next time I will try making the pizza directly on the stone without preheating it and hope it doesn't crack. The directions that came with the stone recommend leaving it in the oven and preheating, but a few reviewers did not preheat and made the pizza directly on the stone, using the peel just to take it out of the over. The 14x23 size is a bit large for what I normally need, but will be fine. Any suggestions, please feel free to comment.

OXO Good Grips Professional 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife

OXO Good Grips Professional 3-1/2-Inch Paring KnifeThese knives are a great value. They perform as well as some more expensive knives that I own, and seem to retain the blade longer. The handles are very comfortable. Overall very good knives for the money.

Want OXO Good Grips Professional 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife Discount?

That's what I'm telling my best friend when I give it to her. She gave me a short list of things she wanted/needed and a small paring knife was on the list. Since I didn't want to come off as an extreme cheapo I looked at several pricier knives but settled on this one because I already own the identical knife and love it for plenty of reasons beyond its reasonable price tag.

The size of this knife is wonderful for most kitchen tasks. I use it for chopping vegetables every day but it also does a formidable job when carving a pumpkin or peeling potatoes or trimming a zucchini. The handle is very comfortable which is a signature feature for the OXO brand. I can use this for a long time without any hand cramping or fatigue. The blade is super sharp and if you follow the manufacturer's suggestion to hand wash it will stay that way. Overall, this knife is nicely balanced and well made. I have been using this knife for quite awhile and I haven't had to sharpen it yet as it still has a solid and sharp cutting edge. I also own the 4" version of this knife, but this is my go to knife for most jobs.

Handy Gourmet Vegetable Peeling Gloves

Handy Gourmet Vegetable Peeling GlovesBeware of spending your hard-earned money on this product. They say put on the gloves and simply rub to remove potato peels WRONG! What they don't tell you in their ad, but it is written in the instructions that come with the gloves is that you have to boil the potatos for 5 to 6 minutes, let them cool and then peel them. I don't know about you, but that sounds like MORE work than just peeling them the old fashioned way. It's not an expensive item, but when you tack on the Seller's shipping and handling costs it comes to about $15.00. And if you return it, not only do you have to pay return postage (which is normal), but in some instances you have to pay a 25% restocking fee. DON'T FALL FOR THIS LIKE I DID! Remember the old adage (which I forgot momentarily) that "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"! In this case, that is absolutely true!

I thought these gloves sounded great so was stupid enough to

buy one for me and three for my daughter and daughter-in-laws!!

They are completely useless!! You can peel the potatoes in 1/4 of the

time!!! What a waste of money!!!

I'm a impatient person when it comes to cooking. If I can't prepare my foods in under 20 minutes I won't bother.

I seen these tater mitts on TV and was thinking someone out there loves me! It took me a while to get but I ended up winning this off of Ebay because I'm a Ebay junkie and is ticked off!!!

When I took the gloves out of the box I was greeted with a greasy feel and an unpleasant smell. I had to pre-wash these greasy smelly gloves. I went to rub the potato and nothing. I read the instructions because I thought maybe I was doing it wrong but I found out that you have to cook the potato beforehand and then peel it. It claims it's water proof but not heat resistant and the instructions tell you to remove the hot potatoes from the pot and let it cool and then peel. What??? So I tried to do another alternative...Run the potatoes through hot water first and then peel. I will admit the more I rubbed the potato showed some sign of peelage(I know that's not a word)but that was it. I wanted french fries not mashed potatoes so I stopped running it through the hot water. I will say one positive thing about this, if you want a baked potato run the potato through cold water, then rub it with the gloves for a few minutes. It will remove all of the dirt residue off the potato. Other than that, this is a piece of junk.

Have never tried these on vegetables, but got them for pulling (shredding, for non BBQ folks) BBQ pork and beef and they are fantastic! The one size fits all claim is a stretch, as they BARELY fit on my hands. Don't understand the "hard to clean" comments. Just leave them on and wash your hands with dish soap. Voila! Clean gloves.

If you go through all the cooking instructions you will get a pretty much peeled potato, however it is a lot of work. What these glove are really good for is skinning raw chicken. The abrasive gloves grabs on to the slippery skin and that ordinarily hard job is made easy! Canned 17 quarts of chicken legs, all without skin! Beautiful! Easy too!

Acacia 17-Slot Knife Block

Acacia 17-Slot Knife BlockThis is an exceptionally beautiful, well made block with cleanly laid slots. It's best for your shorter Wustoff (6-8" chef and bread knives)and is a bit slimmer than my last block, which is a plus. The depth is also a little short for more than a 8-10" sharpening steel.

It's a lightly finished medium to dark acacia. It appears to be an easy to clean and long lasting finish, which may need to be maintained with walnut oil in five years or so if the finish fades. Just don't put mineral oil or "cleaners" on it (or any woods) and it should be fine for a long time IM(NS)HO.

The variegation in color on the acacia block allows for setting beautifully with a variety of accessories on a variety of countertops from black pearl to blue, brown, pink to nearly white granite, slate, marble, concrete, tile and glass. It just glows. Looks good with the Classic set and the Blackwood Classic Ikon. Not as great with the plain steel Culinar but still good. If you prefer your own special selection of knives rather than the basics you find in most sets, this is a fair price for the block. I've paired it with Kunihiro (see their website) of various glazes and Pacific Merchants Acacia trays which you can find here on Amazon. It looks good everywhere and performs nicely so far, no shredding edges from hastily pulled knives.

Made in USA Can Opener (Black)

Made in USA Can OpenerI volunteer at a no kill animal shelter and have sliced my hand open numerous times on the can openers we use to open the dog food. I have purchased numerous can openers, in hopes of finding a long lasting one that works. This is it! Every previous can opener has been made in china. This unit is hand crafted in the USA and it shows! It has by far out lasted other openers used at the shelter and works soooo much better. The engineering and craftsmanship is unparalleled. I highly recommend this and am purchasing several more to donate to the shelter. I know this seems like a lot of words praising a can opener but in all honesty for the price, you will never need another.

I use a can opener every day. I feed my dog wet (canned) dog food daily. My new "Made in USA" can opener is the best hand held can opener I have ever used. From the first time you'll notice the difference. It has a padded set of handles that feel good when squeezed, and it rolls around the lid with almost no effort at all. If you want a fine product, you should buy one of these.

This is the best kitchen applicance that I have bought in years. My previous can opener would only partially open cans or mangle the lids.

Read Best Reviews of Made in USA Can Opener (Black) Here

We bought one can opener that lasted twenty years. Then about eight years ago we bought another can opener. And another. And another. And another. We bought cheap grocery store ones. We bought regular ones and french cut ones. We bought very expensive designer kitchen appliance store ones. We bought and bought and bought and they broke and broke and broke. Or at least stopped opening cans which is the same thing as far as we're concerned..

Then we bought EZ Duz it. It took us a few cans to remember how to line it up and make it turn easily (remember it had been eight YEARS since our last decent can opener.) No it does not do the french cut where you don't have an edge that will slice you. So far we've never been cut by an opened can lid so we're not worried about that.

We just wanted to buy a can opener that would still be cutting cans months (years! we're aiming for years!) later. This one does. Thank you John J. Steuby Company!!!

Update six months later the can opener is still working. (that beats the box store brand already.)

I bought my **very last** SwingAway probably about 18 months ago. It was okay for a few months, but then began to perform about as well as those 3 or 4 dollar can openers that you toss into the cart at the grocery store to get by with 'til you get to a department store and pick up a new SwingAway. In other words, absolute garbage. I really had thought that I must have somehow damaged my SwingAway, because who the H E double hockey sticks has EVER heard of a bad one??? I've just turned 46 and I'd never seen it or even heard of it my entire life.... 'til I bought the last one, which I now know thanks to many wonderful fellow Amazon users is what it used to be in name only.

After stumbling upon this one while browsing Amazon and then reading the reviews and finding out SwingAways are now garbage, I just *had* to order this can opener. I am sooooo glad I did! It's carrying the torch, so to speak. LOL. In fact, I'll definitely be ordering a back-up soon. Great product. If you order it, you will NOT be sorry. You'll be doing your happy dance :D

(This review probably sounds a bit overly enthusiastic considering that we're talking about a can opener. But I have a dog and 3 cats and I open lots of cans :P)

I really do hope that this helps someone to make the right decision and buy it :)

Dexas Fleximat, Set of Two

Dexas Fleximat, Set of TwoMy old mats had chopping marks and were warped. These are high quality & are several steps up from the old ones I had. They hold up well in the dishwasher and I don't believe they will warp like the old (cheap) ones did since they are thicker. I'm very pleased with this purchase & highly recommend them.

Since I have a granite top on my kitchen, I need cutting mats that won't move around on the slick surface I've had another brand that grabbed before, but these have a great grid pattern of gripper type material that stick the mat to the granite and keep it there they seem very tough also, hard to slice up, unlike the other mats I was using I've just started using them but so far I've liked them enough that I bought another set so that I have 4 for different uses on different foods

These cutting mats work well enough to stop the counter from being scratched, but they don't hold up well in the dishwasher. After two months (probably about 12 washes) they were so bent that I wound up replacing them with a set from a different vendor.

Wusthof Asian Edge Knife Sharpener, Red

Wusthof Asian Edge Knife Sharpener, RedThis sharpener sharpens at 17 degrees, which is perfect for my Wusthof Classic Santoku and Wusthof Ikon knives. It can be used on other Japanese knives as well (though truthfully, you should be using a stone to sharpen your nice Japanese knives).

I guess you could call this the lazy man's sharpener, for those of us who don't have time to learn how to use a whetstone. It's cheaper, and more compact than a Spyderco 304, which I was also looking at (but can only be found on eBay these days, and costs twice as much). But it works well, and creates a sharp knife in just a few swipes.

Now my sharpening is complete. For my regular German knives, I sharpen every 6 months 1 year with the Chef's Choice 120 (sharpens at ~ 25 degrees), and I steel everytime before use at about 22-25 degrees. For my remaining knives, Ikon, Santoku, I just use this Wusthof Asian Edge sharpener (using the fine ceramic) every so often, and the coarse ceramic at most 1x or 2x a year.

I would not use this sharpener on Shuns however, since Shuns may sometimes have a one-sided bevel edge that may be destroyed with this type of sharpener. Consult your knife manufacturer's recommendations for best results.

**EDIT** After having owned this device for nearly 2 years, I can attest that it's just as handy as ever. I use it to sharpen my MAC MTH knife, and it works beautifully for this purpose. My MAC knife chops through watermelon rinds/butternut squash/taro roots like a hot knife through proverbial butter, after just a few sharpenings.

I purchased this santoku sharpener at Amazon and have been very satisfied with it's performance. It maintains the 16 degree angle required on all german-made santoku knives and most other similar asian knives. Routine honing with the finishing stage will maintain the ultra sharp edge of a new blade for a long time.

Have not used the course-stage sharpener because I do not allow the knife to become dull. However, a dull knife usually requires removal of metal to become sharp again, and I don't believe this sharpener removes metal. It is great for its intended purpose though, maintaining the near-new sharpness of a high quality santoku knife, and maintaining the 16 degree angle without scaring the edge when sharpening.

Buy Wusthof Asian Edge Knife Sharpener, Red Now

I highly recommend this sharpener it does a better job on my Global, Wushoff and Calphalon knives than any other sharpener. Including Global's recommended Minosharp with the two wet sharpening wheels, which does just an ok job in comparison.

It performs excellently on straight blades you need to curve the knife a little for best effect if the knife's blade is curved near the top.

I think it loses some of its effectiveness after about 6 months of moderate to heavy use, but at this price I think it's well worth getting a new one if you spent on premium kitchen knives.

Also, it is impossible to cosmetically scratch your knives with this sharpener it will touch the blade an nothing else...

Designed for one specific purpose, to sharpen santoku and a few other Asian knives, it works very well. Fools trying to sharpen every other knife with this sharpener will be disappointed. It's not made for every knife. But it restores an edge to your santoku and Chinese cleaver in record time!

Knife experts will try to tell you that a quality knife needs to cost 100 dollars or more. Pay no heed. This bargain knife from MIU France arrived razor-sharp and made quick work of a chicken. It is comfortable to hold (for me at least), and has a good grip for when things get greasy. The tapered tip is great for getting between bone and muscle, and it keeps an edge well. The knife is the perfect flexibility and size for poultry, but I'd want a much more flexible boning knife for filleting fish.

I think just like all of the MUI gear i have tried it is very functional. I especially like the slotted fish spatula. I don't particularly like this knife. Understand that I am a professional cook and I butcher meat all the time specifically beef and bison tenderloins. I think the tip of the knife is a little bit wider then i like. The problem with that is it makes it a little more tedious when peeling the silver skin off of the tenderloins. basically the knife works fine but I don't like when I am using the point of the knife the peel things away.

LEM Products 32 Tinned Bolt Down Hand Grinder

LEM Products 32 Tinned Bolt Down Hand GrinderI bought this meat grinder with the intention of grinding deer meat. I took my time removing the silverskin to limit anything that might clog it. It didn't work well at all. I thought wrongly the large size might make it "heavy-duty" or robust. Instead, the large spiral provided a large area to hold the meat. It didn't really grip and advance the meat forward. I tried pressing the meat down while spinning it, and it merely squished back up around my hand. I tried both the large and small orifice plates. Neither worked well. This unit would not be a good candidate for hooking up to an electric motor either. Near the handle is a plastic bushing (not a bearing). With the extremely rough finish, I expect it would get chewed up quickly. The cheap plastic sausage stuffer attachment doesn't much look like it would hold up. The threads that hold the big retaining nut are super course, it seems they are cast threads. I ended up returning this product.

1. The inside components of the product get rusty easily.

2. This product is very heavy and rough, it was very inconvenient to clean and wash.

3. If you want to return it, the seller will ask you to be responsible for shipping cost. I paid UPS shipped it back.

Made almost entirely of rough castings. Virtually no machining on it. I tried using it to grind pork into sausage. It worked poorly and never did stop wearing and putting metal in the meat. A great deal of the meat stayed inside the grinder. It was very wasteful. This is not the only hand powered grinder I've used, but it was the worst. I returned it for a refund. Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 5 Inch Hollow Edge Santoku

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 5 Inch Hollow Edge SantokuThis is a awsome knife. Super sharp. Great weight and easy to use on Veggis, Seafood, Sushi, Beef etc. Cut Salami or Carrots paper thin. The slices will fall right of the side, no more sticking to the blade! Great for chopping as well. I have almost all the 4 Star Henckels and I love them all and this one stands out. I can highly recommend this great tool. The same Santoku knife also comes in 7 inch lenght (for only ten dollars more) in case you are interested.

I have a set of Henckels chef's knives that I just adore. I recently added this 5-inch hollow edge santoku to my set. It has everything I have come to expect from Henckels: world-class quality, balance, comfort and control.

I am an advocate of EXCELLENT kitchen knives because they are so much more safe to use than crappy knives. When you use one of these, you are in control, even when cutting something hard and round like a winter squash or a huge, firm onion.

After Hurricane Katrina, when my stuff was in storage on the other side of the country, I went out and bought some inexpensive (OK, CHEAP) kitchen tools to get me by until I could get my things out of storage. I had TWO different knives break apart in my hands while I was using them! You know the kind: cheap plastic handle, poorly joined to the blade, not terribly sharp. Yikes.

What a relief it is to have a good knife in my hand again. I can focus on cooking, rather than on avoiding maiming myself with a cheap blade.

Every household needs at least three good kitchen knives--a paring knife (for trimming mushrooms and slicing small veggies, like carrots), a smaller chef's knife (for chopping onions and small cabbages) and a large chef's knife (for slicing bigger, harder things like watermelons and butternut squash.)

This 5" santoku nicely bridges the gap between the small and large chef's knives--perfect for people on a more limited budget. I used mine tonight to thinly slice a large onion. It slid through the onion like a warm knife through soft butter and the slices fell away from the knife cleanly as advertised. Using a good tool made well is one of life's enduring little pleasures.

This is an outstanding knife. It has replaced my Henckels 6" chef knife as my go to knife for smaller jobs. I thought my knives were sharp, but this knife is so much sharper that I'm now sending my other knives out to be professionally sharpened. I highly recommend this knife and at the sale price, it's a real bargain.

Sushi Master The Ultimate Sushi Maker

Sushi Master The Ultimate Sushi MakerI bought this product but was not sure it would make round shaped sushi as I didn't see any round shaped one in the picture of the package online. So i was happy when I got it, it does have the round shaped sushi mold!

It's not very easy at first to put a sheet of Nori to the mold as the manual said. When I inserted the top of the mold to complete sushi, it broke the Nori sheet! My sushi came out ugly!

I saw on Internet people made sushi using a clear plastic sheet (I cut one from a plastic bag! :)) to put to the mold first, then a layer of rice, then the Nori sheet, then tuna, avocado ... Finally, close the Nori sheet & seal it with some more rice then tight it with the plastic bag & the mold on the top. This way, the mold doesn't break the Nori sheet.... & you can either spread sesame seeds/or avocado layer on the plastic sheet so they stick to the rice make it looks nicer...

I have to practice more to make the sushi look better though... :) I am still happy I got those molds. It makes sushi making faster! I just hope it comes with special plastic sheet to help me more! :)

(Sorry my English is not as good to express what I mean. Hope it's still helpful!)

DO NOT LISTEN TO ANY REVIEWS OF PEOPLE WHO SAID THIS DOES NOT WORK. I have been using my Sushi Maker Plus for about 14 years and have just taught my 21 year old son to use it. He perfected it on his first try. I have nothing but positive to say about it. If you make sure you pack the rice well you will have perfect sushi every time. Everyone always thinks I make it the old fashion way with the bamboo mat but believe me this is much easier and fool proof. I was happy to see they still make this item and is available to purchase for my sushi loving family members to use on their own.

I got these on a whim. I also own a Sushezi and I use both products. I tend to use Sushezi for the big round rolls. Sushi Master is handier for other things.

Some recommendations:

Maki-Zushi: Small, square pieces. Use the small mold BUT DO NOT PUT THE NORI IN THE MOLD! Instead, loosely put in some rice. Use the groove-making strip to make a slot in the rice. Add your other ingredient (singular... there's really not much room for more than one thing in these thin rolls), top with more rice and press down. Remove the bottom piece and then set over a half-sheet of nori and then push the food out of the box onto the nori. Bring up the sheets of nori to be on the sides of the roll. Place the roll over on one side and use one of the flat pieces to press the roll ever-so-slightly thinner. Then turn it back upright and slide it back down in the box. Moisten the flaps of nori and close up the roll. Finally, slice up the pieces.

Oshi-Zushi: the oldest form is pressed sushi. Line the bottom of the big square box (I think it's actually a little smaller than the traditional wooden box for this) with whatever you want as the meat/vegetable. Make sure it reaches all the edges. Add rice to the box and then use the piece used to press square rolls to make it flat. Slice and serve. For ingredient ideas check Sushi: Taste and Technique

Note: Sushi Master and Sushezi don't get along completely as one is geared toward using the nori along the long edge and the other along the short edge. Nori, like so many things japanese, isn't totally square. I've got a Go book that explains the philosophy behind that... as I recall it's Go for Beginners, but don't hold me to it. I actually got that Go book before Amazon existed.

I just received the product today and was mildly disappointed. The package was new and sealed but there was no instruction booklet. Googling hasn't produced one yet either. Also the product title says that a knife is included with the kit. I didn't receive a knife but when I came back and read the full product description, I saw no mention of a knife. So the title should be updated to omit the mention of the knife as it is a bit misleading.

For those two reasons I'm giving the product a 3 rating which some may think is unfair but instructions are KEY for using a product that is new to you and the inclusion of the knife was one of the reasons that I was ordering from this vendor.

As for making sushi, my husband and I got a lumpy but satisfying roll done and are looking forward to making more. We found a recipe for sushi rice online and used julienned veggies for the filling. We winged it because we had no instructions but my husband loves to cook and he kinda sorta figured out how to use the pieces.

fun for the novelty of it. make sure you press in everything as you fill it up :) otherwise it will fall apart. this is a nice way to make uniform sushi once you get the hang of it.

Lee Mfg Adj Wd Corn Cutter 101-P Slicers Cutters & Graters Kitchen

Lee Mfg Adj Wd Corn Cutter 101-P Slicers Cutters & Graters KitchenI have used a Lee corn cutter for years in preparing fresh sweet corn for freezing. First you blanch the cobs for five minutes, then cool in cold water for the same time, let drain, and cut the kernels off into a bowl, holding the corn cutter horizontal over the bowl with one end against a vertical wall (obviously best done on a counter, not an island). By adjusting the height of the two cutter edges you can cut clean kernels off, or (our favorite) cream-style, scraping all the delicious juice as well as the kernels. Freeze in boxes or bags and enjoy pure golden goodness in the middle of the winter -your holiday guests will love you. These cutters are so simple and obvious, I'm always surprised that folks are still struggling with knives and other less easy-to-use gadgets. Buy a couple extra for gifts -folks who see me use it (or the results!) always wish they had one.

My 84 year old mom makes some of the best creamed corn in the world (whose doesn't). All her life she has used the good 'ol kitchen knife to cut the corn off the cob (then adds her magic ingredients and into the pan until beautifully sweet).

A friend recently told her about a device that would do all the cutting for her in much less time and with little to no mess to clean up (I think the no-mess part was what really intrigued her). She asked me to look on the internet to see if I could find what her friend was talking about (mom does not own a computer).

I did a quick google search for corn cutter's and was surprised at how many "hits" there were. There were several competitor's of Lee's but most of them simply cut the corn from the cob, while the Lee's version also creamed the corn. I asked mom which version she wanted and her reply was "I want the one that does it all".

I ordered the Lee's corn cutter/creamer and upon arrival I had to inspect this "thing" to see how it worked. The construction is straightforward and it is built with solid materials. I swear I could just see some ingenious person back in the "day" (1920's) put their thinking cap on to figure out how to make such a simple but useful device. It really reminds you of one of those items that makes you think "why couldn't I think of that?".

I couldn't wait to take it to mom's to try it out. With a simple phillips head screw driver I set the 2 screws to determine the depth of the cut and how deeply to scrape the cob (or milking it, as the instructions call it). Mom already had her 5 ears of corn shucked and cleaned, so within about 30 seconds wee were ready to go!

We placed a plastic pail under the wooden cutter and placed the end against the kitchen wall for stability. You place the narrow end of the ear of corn into the groove and slide it (somewhat forcefully with a tight grip) toward the cutter/scrapper, through and past. I made about 5 passes in each area (to get all the milk from the cob). Then you flip the ear to a new section and repeat. This baby was slicker than slick!

It took less than a minute to finish an ear and mom came rushing over to clean any mess and she said "I can't believe it there is no mess". Everything (well 99% of it) fell through the cutting hole into the pail.

The Lee's corn cutter may be my best internet purchase ever! The cutter is fully adjustable and if you only want to cut the corn (and not cream it), you can remove the scrapper.

Oh yes, the corn seemed to taste even a little sweeter knowing I had cut it myself in such easy fashion.

this is the best cutter i have used!! infact i just purchased a second one. we grow organic heirloom corn and prosses lots for later usage i have tried several other cutters with terrible results uneven cutting only good for one size of kernel just junk.

this however is very adjustable i can set it for any size i need just sort your corn by same size kernels then set the blade for that then cut away !! then reset blade for next size and so on no more destroying the whole kernels or cutting the cob etc.

it has made our prossesing much faster and cleaner i have used it cutting for creamed and whole corn bolth ways work perfectly !!

ALSO A FOOTNOTE you can sharpen the blade easily with a wet stone if you have one if not you can use 800 or higher grit wet sandpaper from your local hardware store this will keep a very sharp egde on it

Well, this corn cutter works great. For me, to just remove the kernels, the most difficult step was getting the kernel depth and scraper depth correct after removing the shredder. Mine came set at the deepest depth, and that ended up cutting some of the cob into the mix (with a lot of pressure). So I set both blades at the half-way depth, and it worked great. Cutting the corn off a cob is actually pretty fast once you get the hang of it!

Wonderful product! One problem the nails loosen after several uses. This could have been due to the initial setting being wrong, and excessive cutting force. I have bought four and given 3 as gifts. You have to get the adjustment right, however, or you'll end up cutting the cob. It also helps to sharpen the cutter blade. Remove the shredder blade to cut just the kernels.
