7 Pc Soap Carving Knives Set

LamsonSharp 6-Piece Forged Knife Set with Block

LamsonSharp 6-Piece Forged Knife Set with BlockThis is an absolutely top notch set of knives, and I could not be happier with the quality and craftsmanship. The weight and balance of the chef's knife feels amazing to work with, it's definitely the go-to knife in the set, and is Horror movie LARGE. All the knives are super sharp and will tear into any task with ease. My only complaint is the quality of the block, it rocks on my counter as it's not flat which is really annoying. I didn't let that affect the rating I gave the set as it's about the knives, not the block, which looks nice enough, it just isn't flat, and it also didn't say LamsonSharp as it does in the picture. I have noticed in using these knives over the past 5 months that I use the chef's knife 70% of the time, and the paring knife the other 30%, I've barely ever used the carver or fillet. I do however want to add the bread knife to the set as there have been multiple times I would have used it in the past 5 months. I would almost recommend just buying those three knives and calling it a day. You can't go wrong with these knives, they're an amazing SHARP, QUALITY set. The classic style will look great for decades, never gimmicky or trendy. The wood riveted handles are great. I really don't feel like I can say enough nice things about these knives, I definitely feel they were worth every penny, I'll never buy knives again! (and they're made right here in America, imagine that!)

The Coconut Tool Stainless Steel Coconut Meat Removal Knife

The Coconut Tool Stainless Steel Coconut Meat Removal KnifeI must admit, it is easier getting the meat out with this tool than, let's say, a knife or other sharp gadgets. However, you still need a lot of muscle using it. I would say that it took me about 5 minutes versus the advertised 60-90 seconds(very misleading) Moreover, the meat did not neatly come out in one piece. My right hand is still has some soreness trying to get the meat out with this thing.

Pretty disappointed because I paid a lot of money for it.

UPDATE TO REVIEW: 8/22/12

Purchased this in mid July, used it a few times and decided to keep it although it was not as easy to use as the description states. HOwever, I'm very upset because rust is starting to appear. I never really looked very close to the metal itself( I just assumed that it would be a very high quality metal due to the price), but there is a pin sized hole or something there and a few other places are beginning to rust. This is very shocking because I purchase quite a bit of metal kitchen gadgets and treat them about the same in terms of cleaning and maintenance. Wash after use and let air dry completely after dried. This is the only metal material that is rusting.

I wanted to return it for an exchange, but I wasn't able to because the window for a return for exchange expired 7 days ago. This is so frustrating. An item that can pose a health concern cannot be returned after 45 days?

If you love coconuts or just need to open one now-and-then or weekly as I do, THEN THIS TOOL IS FOR YOU! Let me explain: I am off of dairy and grains, so my primary "milk" is coconut or almond. All of the commercial brands have gums or other thickeners that I cannot tolerate, so I must make my own milks. My technique for making coconut milk is easy, starting with fresh whole coconuts--HOWEVER before I met the COCONUT TOOL, the best way for me to open coconuts was to put them in a 400 degree oven and wait until they cracked open, and then it was a hassle to separate the meat from the shell. The COCONUT TOOL has two winning attributes: the first is the video link that the inventor of the tool sent to me after I had purchased the tool this video showed how easy it was to crack a coconut and then how to use the tool to remove the meat. The second is how the tool has drastically reduced the time that I took to make my coconut milk. This tool really works it now takes me about 30 minutes to make milk, beginning from a hand-held coconut through blending, through the straining in a nut bag, freezing some of the milk, and filling my mason jar for refrigerator storage. I love this tool just about as much as I love my morning cinnamon or pumpkin pie or apple pie lattes NO SUGAR! I heat some fresh coconut milk in a ceramic-coated fry pan, transfer to my coffee cup, aerolate the milk to a thick foam, then add coffee down the inside of the cup and top all of this with cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice....ah, then I relax and sip the coffee through the thick milk. .... end of review gotta go brew up a batch!

Oh, the milk is great on oatmeal and easy to cook with, but you gotta get the TOOL to end once and for all the frustration of opening coconuts and removing the meat! Fun tool I like fun tools in my kitchen!

Buy The Coconut Tool Stainless Steel Coconut Meat Removal Knife Now

This curved knife is great to remove coconut flesh. I assume that the age of the coconut has to do with the ease of removing the flesh, though I don't know how you'd know the age of a coconut from the outside. It took more strength than I have to get the tool fully underneath the coconut meat and I had to ask my husband to take over thus the 4 stars. It probably would have taken me about 10 minutes on my own. I do have to say that without this knife I just wouldn't buy coconuts for the pain it is to try and get everything with other tools. It's very sturdy, not flimsy whatsoever, I feel comfortable that it won't slip out of my hands and am not scared of it cutting me. The blade has just enough sharpness to get between the husk and the meat but not enough to cut someone reaching into a drawer. Coconuts truly are a miracle food so I thank you for this product!

I first learned about this product from an online video about how to make fresh coconut milk. Since then, I always wanted to try. I personally like a lot of dishes with fresh coconuts but the task of opening one always deterred me. For me, there are 3 steps in opening a coconut. First, make two holes to pour out the liquid. Second, crack through the middle to split it into 2 halves. And lastly, extract the meat from the shells. The third step is by far the hardest and this tool is just the thing for the job.

First off, this thing is made from very high quality and strong stainless steel. I can feel the sturdiness when holding it. It takes a little strength to push it into the coconut and I don't see it bend or give way one bit. Because of its build, I can really feel my strength transferred into the task efficiently. I hate using things that wiggle or bend because you know it's taking power away. This thing really feels like it'll last forever.

Secondly, about its function. When using this, one has to understand how to do it. Brute force is not the way to go. When holding the coconut half in one hand, I will look over it poking with the tool to find a good entry point. From there, I just use enough strength to get the tool a centimeter or two into shell. From there, I'll wiggle it until it opens up more space on the side. I'll then move the tool to the new place and wiggle some more. Rinse and repeat and soon you'll find more and more meat is dislodged from the shell. After a while with this, I'll push it in deeper to try to pry the whole thing loose. I was able to get a perfect half coconut dislodged from the shell in my first attempt! Compared with my old way of doing it with a hammer and knife, this is a world of difference.

Overall, I am happy with the purchase. My old attempt took many times longer and makes a huge mess. I usually do it in the yard. Now, I can finish a coconut in 10 minutes in the kitchen. Great product.

UPDATE: I watched the video as Hugh suggested and bought another coconut just to try this tool out again and basically the difference was using the counter vs my hand. Once I used a counter as leverage the meat came out very easily with this tool. The first half I got the meat out very easily and quickly, the second half which was smaller (coconut didn't break perfectly even) took me a little more time but still not too long. It is a very good product and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to use it to demeat their coconuts. Thank you Hugh for caring about the customer satisfaction of your product, we need more inventors like you.

I was not able to remove meat in less than 60 seconds with this tool. I've only tried with one coconut but it was just as difficult as usual. I ordered this tool because I saw someone on youtube using it but they weren't removing the meat in less than 60 seconds either, maybe like 10-15 minutes. I worked on one half of the coconut but then got frustrated with the small pieces I was getting for the amount of time and work I was putting into it. I was also afraid of stabbing myself so I just stopped, never ended up going back to that coconut to finish it. I will try one more time with a new coconut and update my reveiew if anything changes. I've recently been told that you can just hammer the coconut once it's been broken in half and the meat will start to come off. I will do a comparison.

Gorham Melon Bud 5-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Place Setting, Service for 1

Gorham Melon Bud 5-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Place Setting, Service for 1Gorham Melon Bud 5-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Place Setting, Service for 1 I have owned this flatware for several years now and I am very disappointed in it. I have 14 place settings and all the serving pieces so I am heavily invested in this set. I liked the fact that it was a versatile style with a good weight, it was comfortable in the hand and it offered a large assortment of serving pieces. However, this set does not hold up well in the dishwasher. You must hand wash and dry this set to keep it looking it's best. Even with hand washing and drying, I still get occasional rust spots and tarnishing and I must polish the pieces every several months or so. For the price paid, this flatware requires much too much care. If you don't want to baby your flatware, look elsewhere.

We've been using this flatware for six years now since we married in 2005. All the pieces look in tip top condition. I also had issues with spots and rust on the blade of the knives. It would come off with a little Dawn and the scrubbing sponge. I've since learned that most all knives use a different metal combination for the blade as compared to the handle. They key to not having spots or rust to remove is to wipe off any oils like butter or mayo before putting it in the dishwasher. Once I began doing that the issue stopped. We run our dishwasher every three days on average as it's just me and my husband.

We've owned our Melon Bud set since our wedding in 1987 and the set has stood the test of time. The set, of course, has the expected wear of 23 years of daily use, but we've observed absolutely no need for special care, i.e. polishing, rust removal etc. Our set has been run through various quality dishwashers in towns with the some of the hardest water around, and have observed no stains or build-up, as would be expected from stainless steel. We find the set is well made. Each piece is well balanced and the right weight, i.e. not too light and not too heavy. The rounded edges are far more comfortable than more modern looking squared edges. All in all, we've been extremely satisfied with this set, and as time has progressed, we've always chosen to replace the lost pieces over the years, rather than move on to something new.

I have owned a service for 12 plus serving pieces and iced teaspoons in this pattern since my wedding in December 1986 and I have been very happy with the quality, style and durability of this product. In fact, I am online now looking to add more 5-piece place settings to my collection. These pieces have held up very well for me for the past 21 years, which is why I am choosing to add to my service rather than purchase an entirely different pattern. I have never had to do anything special to my flatware...I wash it in the dishwasher every day. I highly recommend this product.

Gibson Mr Coffee Harpwell 1.8 ? Liter 2 Qt Whistling Tea Kettle

Gibson Mr Coffee Harpwell 1.8 ? Liter 2 Qt Whistling Tea KettleI needed a new tea kettle and like other reviewers have stated on reviews for various styles, who would have thought it would have been so involved finding one I liked? The thing that was most important to me is a removable lid. My last tea kettle cost me probably less then $10.00 and has lasted for better then 15 years. The only thing that was wrong with it was the handle. It had begun to become loose and did not have screws that could be tightened. It was becoming dangerous due to the fact that when I was pouring the boiling water into my cup, with the handle being so loose the 'pot' of the kettle would swing and I was afraid that one day I would end up with boiling water all over myself so off I went looking for a replacement. I love shopping on www.amazon.com so I looked and I looked and read reviews til I was cross-eyed! Although this one had no reviews (and I am pleased to be the first!) I liked the looks, the fact that it has a removable lid, and a stationary handle that stays cool and has a button you push to open the pour spout. With my old one, I had to remove the whistle from the spout and as you can imagine it could be very hot. The whistle on my old tea kettle was piercing; this one is softer but I am able to hear it if I'm in another room. I like the fact that the lid fits very snug. I have arthritis in my hands and the button on the handle that opens the spout is easy enough for me to push open and closed. It's a good weight and does seem to be very well constructed. I have been using it for my nightly tea ever since it arrived and I am loving it! It really looks nice sitting on my black smooth top stove too. I think I'm going to be using this one for a very long time.

This is an excellent tea kettle. It holds 2 quarts, it heats up quickly, pours perfectly and doesn't spill a drop, handle stay comfortable. It has a lining on the inside and I can't see any way it could possibly rust (I do empty it every time), and it whistles loud enough to be heard anywhere in my house. What more could you ask of a tea kettle.

I have read lots and lots of reviews on other kettles (as well as this one). I couldn't believe all the complaints on some of the other kettles. This one seemed to be just right for me and it is! It is also a beautiful kettle with a nice modern look, and I love mine. Thanks again, Amazon 5+ stars for you and the kettle.

this is just what i was looking for i had been looking for a whisteling tea pot for sooo long and i read a ton of reviews before i buy anything. and this item did not really have all that many good reviews but i thought i would take a chance with it so i did and i'm glad i did. it whistle so loud with time first you will seem steam coming out of the whistle tip but then after about 10 min after that the whistle will slowly get louder. so don't worry the whistle does get very loud. but works great and always love the "me coffee" brand.

The tea kettle is ok. I love the shape and look. It is very large, larger than I need. I love the the trigger to open the spout. You click it and it pops open and stays open until you shut it. The thing I find disappointing about it is that the handle gets very hot. I find I have to us a pot holder when pouring which is very disappointing. Because of the hot handle I would not buy again, and will probably keep an eye out for a replacement.

I shopped long and hard for the perfect tea kettle. This one is great. It not only is affordably priced, but also has my must-have features. This kettle has a loud enough whistle, is not too big, is attractive, has a very substantial stay cool handle, has an easy to reach spout opener button which avoids steam burns, and it heats the water quickly to a full boil. I highly recommend this kettle.

Messermeister Park Plaza Spear Point Paring Knife

Messermeister Park Plaza 4-1/2-Inch Spear Point Paring KnifeThe blade's a little flexible although it seems thick enough to be stiff. That's really the only negative.

The handle's a typical german paring knife handle. No bolster means it'll sharpen better. It was pretty sharp right out of the box.

Under Cabinet K-cup® Holder. Designed for Keurig's® K-cups®- Elite

Under Cabinet K-cup® Holder. Designed for Keurig's® K-cups®- EliteI don't like to have a lot of kitchen counter clutter so I was so happy to find this product. I read a bunch of the reviews ahead of time so I went ahead and secured it with the screws so it wouldn't go anywhere. I love this thing so much that I bought a second one so both my husband and I can have our own coffees in our own holders. The design is sleek and I love being able to have a bunch of different flavored coffees right by my Keurig without having a pile of different boxes on the counter.

The one tip I would like to pass on is to open and close the holder by using the front bar only. Otherwise it can go up cockeyed and not close up flat.

Bought the smaller one for the wife. Mounting is a breeze. I went ahead and used the screws to insure it wasn't going anywhere. Perfect way to store your K cups without taking up a drawer or more counter space. It tucks them away nicely out of site under the cabinet. Highly recommend this unit.

This was easy to install. After reading other reviews I decided to use the included screws. The bottom of my cabinet has a rough texture so I doubt the adhesive would have held very long. I did use it to keep the rack in place while I screwed it in. I love that it keeps my countertop clutter free. This is by far the best storage for k cups!

Very nice item. The BUT is about the self (non)sticky tape provided. Had it installed about my wine glasses. In the middle of the night it fell down. It comes with screws USE THEM!!!

Will look for another though.

Want Under Cabinet K-cup® Holder. Designed for Keurig's® K-cups®- Elite Discount?

I love the idea was exactly what I was looking for to store KCups out of the way without taking up valuable counter top or cabinet space. I can't see the sticky tape being practical so I also used the screws.

My real complaint is that it doesn't come down smoothly/easily enough. It requires too much force to open. To me, this means it will eventually loosen the screws.

I would pay more for a better engineered product. I just think the movement isn't smooth enough and forces more wear/tear on the unit than should be necessary. a full 5 stars if it had a smooth/gliding movement instead of the forcefull/stiff/jerky pull required to yank it down.

Chicago Cutlery Accessories 4-Piece Paring/Utility Knife Set with Colored Handles

Chicago Cutlery Accessories 4-Piece Paring/Utility Knife Set with Colored HandlesI have owned Global, Shun (ken onion series), Furi, Ran, Henckles, Wousthof, Chroma, Mac and most recently, got myself a Haiku. I cook professionally, spend my days in a professional kitchen, I have 14 sets of knives ranging from 3pcs to 8pcs sets. I love knives.

So, here is my review of these knives. Good utility knife set. Handles are big enough to fit in your hand, sharp enough to do "simple" cutting, blade is thick enough to stand abuse and they are very light. Rating, Price, quality and performance were all considered as a WHOLE.

Workmanship, I would say, it's excellent for a $4.00 knife set. I can't compare them to my other knives which cost 10x or 20x more than these. But, considering the price I paid for, they are great. I keep them by my side especially the serrated ones.

And I'm just sadden coz, people should know, there is no such thing as "stainless steal" or rust proof knife. They all stain. That's why never, ever put your knives in the dishwasher. Wash them by hand and dry them with a towel. Even with care, with age, you'll notice staining on your knives. Good luck.

For the current price (four bucks) these are a good deal. Just don't expect them to be very sharp. The blades are unusually large and unusually thick. This makes them strong, but not sharp.

So sharp I cut myself the first time I used them ... I must have been thinking of my OLD knives that I passed along to someone else. This little set was such a good buy! I am quite impressed and didn't think I would like the colored handles... I do! It is very easy to pull them out of the block and know which knife it is because of the color. Granted, they don't match my wooden Chicago Cutlery set, but the quality is still there! I liked them so much I bought TWO sets. You can't go wrong @ 3.99 for FOUR knives! A+ in my book.

Three out of the four knives began rusting after only one or two uses. I am not suprised because they were so cheap, but I am surprised by the good reviews. Perhaps my situation is unique, but nothing else in our house is rusting!

This set of four knives is the same great quality of more expensive knives and they are a fraction of the cost. The knife blades are Chicago Cutlery quality at the best price I've ever paid for a knife (much less a set of four) ever in my life. The sturdy colored handles make it easy to identify each knife blade, they contour fit the hand well and you can leave in water without the worry of warping. With four knife blades to choose from there is a knife for almost anything you need to do in the kitchen.

Fortessa Bistro 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 1, 5-Piece

Fortessa Bistro 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 1, 5-PieceCustomer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm going to risk the unhelpful votes and go against the rest of the reviewers on this item. While I agree that the design is extremely nice, the flatware manages to look both classic and contemporary at the same time, it's also nicely polished and very heavy, I still don't like this set.

Our everyday set is by Reed & Barton, also sold here on amazon but is priced far lower then this (less then $100 for service for 8). Honestly the weight is about the same, the Fortessa is a bit heavier but if anything it feels almost like a chore to lift the pieces with the additional weight. The edges on the Fortessa aren't consistently smooth, if you run your finger along the edge of the spoon for instance it feels uneven and rough. The final deal breaker for me is really my own fault for not looking closer at the photos, what they are actually considering a plus "makers mark on every item-craftsman symbol of quality" I can't stand. There is a engraved mark on the front of the pieces which no matter how many times I use them I always glance at and initially think there is some sort of dry food stuck to the piece and it drives me nuts.

If you can get past that symbol and are looking for very heavy flatware at a premium price it might be perfect for you, I'll stick with my other set personally :)

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program To set the stage I've been using the same Hampton Silversmiths "Bistro" flatware set since 2000, and I've been very happy with them. While I did start perusing flatware off and on about a year ago, I'm in no real hurry to replace them and not prone to sing the praises of just any nice flatware that comes my way.

That said, these utensils are quite nice and I'm happy that I was able to audition them. Style is all personal preference, and you can likely tell from the pictures if you like that. I'll discuss what you can't see. I think that the construction and build quality are excellent, with consistent fit and finish throughout. The heft is nice, with the exception of the knife that seems overly heavy to me, and all pieces have good balance. The surfaces are very smooth and comfortable (with one exception listed below). The utensils came packaged nicely to prevent shipping damage. I've been mostly handwashing them because I just have one set, but I've run them through the dishwasher at least a couple of times to check for issues and can't see any change in the appearance.

The one thing that I really don't like, and the reason for removing a star, is the makers mark on the spoons. The mark is, IMO, the single flaw in the comfort of the spoons. The mark annoys me because I can feel it every time I put one in my mouth. The mark on the forks isn't so bad because my lips don't tend to touch that part of a fork, but they touch the back portion of a spoon all of the time. If they had to mark them, I wish that it would have been where the base of the cup meets the handle where neither hand nor mouth would tend to touch it. Because I like everything else about the spoons, I've been using these for over a month now to try and get used to it, but I haven't at least, not yet.

Despite not loving the knife, I'd consider getting a full set of these if it weren't for the mark. However, because of it, I won't be ordering any more.

If you are used to such a mark, or are able to try out some spoons with one and don't mind it, then I recommend trying these. They really are very nicely made. At the current price of $30 a setting, these do seem pricey to me especially if you're getting enough for a family. I think that $20/service would be a decent (if not great) value. Even that would be about twice what I paid for my previous set, but these are a step up.

A note on the 18/10 steel. From what I've read, I think that's a bonus in this case because these are polished and the nickel provides a nice sheen. I've read how much better 18/10 (same as 18/8) is than 18/0 in regards to corrosion resistance, so I wouldn't even consider 18/0 flatware when I was looking last year. That is, until I found the packaging to my 11-year-old set last month and saw that it was 18/0. Imagine my surprise! I have never seen any signs of rust on my flatware none. They have been left in water (or dipping in pools of water in a bowl) for extended periods from time to time for over a decade. Of course, everyone's mileage may vary, but I'm less averse to 18/0 now. 18/10 is more corrosion resistant and offers some insurance, so I do think that it's worth more. I'm just not convinced that I need it, given that I don't plan on passing down my flatware as an heirloom.

Overall, these have a lot of nice qualities. I don't like the mark on the spoons and am not a huge fan of the large knife, so I won't buy any more. Given the pros, though, you might want to consider these (especially if you can see them in person at a store near you).

Pros:

Sturdy construction

Consistent fit and finish (with one very minor mark on one spoon, which was under the polish)

Nicely polished surfaces

Great balance

18/10 steel (apparently the same at 18/8, but a step up from 18/0)

Cons (for me, anyway):

The makers mark on the spoons

The knife is larger and heavier than I prefer. I think that it might be problematic for younger kids.

Buy Fortessa Bistro 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 1, 5-Piece Now

Pros Very sturdy. Could probably pull up the tile on our marble counter with the spoons. Weighty aka hefty. I like the heavy feel, but some may not. I read one review of someone getting fatigued while using heavier flatware. Really? If your hand / forearm gets fatigued eating, you're eating too much.

Cons Shipment came damaged (UPS' fault surely, so I am not docking for this). Seller responded quickly but was unable to ship out the missing knife in a timely manner (issue I am also not docking for as Amazon stated a 1-2 month delay on shipping at the time).

The real cons begin with the finish. First, this is 18/8.3 silverware not 18/10, but that's fine. I'd be surprised to find any silverware setting under $75 per that uses actual grade 305 stainless. That being said, the finish scratches SO EASILY. The wear was noticeable after three HAND washings using only a minimal amount of a non-lemon based soap and the soft side of the non-scratch (blue) sponge.

Numerous nicks and poor finishing job on the components. The finishing job was just hands down lazy. These were not buffed properly nor finished properly. It looks like the plating process was done totally half-assed. Furthermore, albeit small, there is an obvious dent in the bottom of one of the forks. It appears to be a total failure, across the board, by the QA person on duty when this set was made, which doesn't bode well for those buying a set in the near future.

Overall, if you are going to spend near $40 per setting (with shipping), look elsewhere. A middle grade Oneida or R&B set for similar, if not less money, will provide much more bang for the buck. Obviously you are not trying to buy top of the line if you're interested in this set / price range and that's fine, neither was I, but when I do it over again it will be for something either less money, so the flaws will be expected, or I will spend 50 100% more and guarantee satisfaction.

Would I buy from this seller again? Absolutely. Would I buy this product or anything from this manufacturer again? Absolutely not.

Read Best Reviews of Fortessa Bistro 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 1, 5-Piece Here

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program The flatware set I currently own was purchased as an 8-piece setting for under $100. It was cheap. It is also functional but is not as high quality as this single serving set which would cost $239.60 for a service of 8 at its current price of $29.95 per 5-pc single service.

Overall, I think this set is very well made. It is heavier, stronger, and in most cases larger than my current flatware set.

For instance, the dinner fork, dessert fork, and knife are 1 inch to 1-1/2 inches longer than my forks and knives. However, my spoons and these spoons are the same length. I also weighed each piece and compared it to the one I own and this is how they stack up:

Knife is 4.6 oz and my knife is only 2 oz.

Dessert fork is 2.2 oz and my dessert fork is 0.8 oz.

Dinner fork is 2.8 oz and my dinner fork is 1.1 oz.

Teaspoon is 1.7 oz and my teaspoon is .08 oz.

Tablespoon is 2.7 oz and my tablespoon is 1.3 oz.

There are only two things that disappoint me with this set. First, because the handles on the flatware are bulbous (more round than flat), they do not stack well. As a neat freak, I like my flatware to stack nicely one on top of the other. Second, all the flatware except for the knife have an engraved "trademark" on the front and name and "trademark" on the handle. The knife has no engraving on the handle and on the blade is a written name AND written "trademark." Since the name and "trademark" on the knife is in a different format than on the rest of the flatware, it makes the knife look like it is part of a different set. However, these are relatively minor points.

This flatware functions very well as eating untensils and except for the two disappointments I mentioned above, I think it is a quality set. They certainly are attractive.

December 26, 2011 Update I showed this flatware to my boyfriend and he was very impressed. He say they are very attractive and functional. He did mention it would be great if they sold it in sets of 4 or 8 at a cheaper price than $29.00 per one serving. However, in general he could find no fault with this flatware and to him the set is a five-star product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If you're looking for some nice flatware, then you really can't go wrong with this Fortessa 5-piece set. The package includes a dinner knife, dinner fork, dessert fork, tablespoon, and a teaspoon, all of which have a simple and elegant design. It is also worth noting that this set is a bit heavier with somewhat thicker handles than you might be used to. While I've seen a couple of other reviewers who dislike the weight and shape, I disagree it makes them feel very durable and long-lasting.

Overall, I'm quite happy to have these. If I ever need more good-quality flatware, I'd definitely buy a few more sets.

clean easily. The serrations are heavy duty and the handles fit my hand very comfortably. And they look good!

Totally Bamboo Maui Thin Cutting Board

Totally Bamboo Maui Thin Cutting BoardI own several bamboo boards of various sizes and shapes. My favorite go-to board was one exactly this shape and size, but it was 3-4 times thicker. It was a lovely board, but, sadly, I accidentally burned it on the hot stove. This is the item I bought as a replacement and actually it is even better than the original. I learned with the other one that they sometimes slide around a little as one cuts, but placing a damp towel beneath it for friction solves that issue. The elongated shape gives room for various items to be chopped and yet stay separate.

It's a pretty board that stays on display on my counter, so I do oil it fairly frequently with Totally Bamboo Oil. (Regular mineral oil from the corner drug store seems to go on heavier and gets sticky more easily than smooth.) Of course, I don't wash it in the dishwasher, but do wash it frequently with hot soapy water, thus the need for oil, which I add monthly.

Guess it's the size and weight, though, that I appreciate the most. Food is heavy and awkward enough without adding a bunch of unnecessary pounds to lug around. It is used at least once or twice a day in my kitchen much more if I'm doing entertaining, because it easily doubles as a cheese board, or other serving tray. I also have the two smaller boards that come as a pair, and they're fine, but this one is the star.

I've never had a board from Totally Bamboo split or break.

I highly recommend it and can't see why anyone would be unhappy with it especially at the low price.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

United Solutions Plastic Cutlery Tray and Utensil Organizer, White

United Solutions Plastic Cutlery Tray and Utensil Organizer, WhiteMy husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the quality and size of the tray. The tray fits all of our utensils, and the tray even fits our extra long Korean style spoons and forks! We liked that the tray was Made in the USA, and not from China.

Personally, after visiting China, we will limit our Chinese product purchases because ethics are nonexistent in China, which means who knows what harmful chemicals are used in Chinese products.

Anyway, I digress, the tray is large, so be sure to measure your cabinet to ensure it fits.

This tray may look a little different than the rest. But, it works very well. I recently purchased a silverware set with 2 sizes of forks and spoons. This was one of the few trays I could find that would accommodate them in their own sections instead of shoving both sizes into one slot. Overall, it was a great purchase at a good price.

Unfortunately I bought two of these. The compartments are too small to fit the average knife and fork and the others are basically useless.. less compartments and more space would be much better

I was hoping this would help to organize my drawer. I found that the tray was more shallow than the one I already had. it will hold a single set but not deep enough for a double set.

Sturdy plastic. I was glad to have the extra compartments for extra flatware. Seems like a very durable product; made well.

F. Dick - 10" Diamond Steel , Oval

F. Dick - 10' Diamond Steel , OvalI have and use "sharpening" steels. They sharpen nothing. They are properly used to stand up the teeth (which you cannot see with the naked eye) that you bent over by smashing them down against the food you cut. This will stand them up over and again, until they break off. Then you NEED a sharpener.

This is a sharpener that looks like a steel. The diamond dust on the surface lets you cut new teeth into your knifes. You just stroke a few times, then do the other side. You can choose the angle. 22 degrees or so is normal. Many like the super sharp 12 degree. But that dulls faster, and is not so good for tougher cutting. A cleaver may have a more aggressive pitch. Then you go back to the first side for another two or three more. Then a final stroke on each side.

The diamond wand will even allow you to dispense with the steel altogether if you do not like the procedure and you do not care about the increased rate of wear. Ever see an old, busy butcher with knives that have a very small depth to their blades? They are not made that way. They have just been honed that many times.

You might prefer the oval to the round shape. But I saw only oval steels on Amazon, not the diamond sharpener. F. Dick makes superior quality, long lasting sharpeners and steels both.

Also, this is what you need for the hardest steel knives that take forever on a stone. Finally, you must use diamond on ceramic. That is the only way to restore that razor sharpness.

This is an excellent product, as are all of my F. Dick steels. Since I steel my knives on a regular steel after every use, I use this steel only occasionally. But when I need to actually sharpen a knife, a few light strokes across this diamond steel restores the edge to a razor sharpness.

Shun Reserve ND0747 Hollow-Ground Chef's Knife, 6-Inch

Shun Reserve ND0747 Hollow-Ground Chef's Knife, 6-InchThis knife is a perfect weight that fits well in the hand. The 6 inch blade makes it a good all purpose chef knife. This knife, together with the paring and nikiri knives are a great trio for any kitchen. Like all Shun knives, they hold a good edge and are wicked sharp. Time to put a lock on my knife drawer!!

It is a sharp knife but only about 2mm thick. It would be more useful if it is thicker and heavier.

Dansk Bistro Cafe 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Dansk Bistro Cafe 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1I have had this flatware for 31 years, it was my engagement gift from my parents. I adore it , it is heavy and feels great in the hand. I have replaced a few pieces over the years, as pieces were lost and they matched perfectly. I just received 4 place settings and while they are similar they are slightly different. The metal is slightly lighter in weight and the shape of pieces slightly different. Also the metal finish is matte and was not like that in the original...Some of mine was made in Korea and this latest batch was made in Vietnam, not sure if that is the reason why.

These are a pleasure to use, beautiful to look at, and easy to clean. The only warning is that the knives might not be great for "tougher" meats, but work very well for everyday use.

This item is flawless, very elegant yet simple look to go with my porcelain china. Very similar to Kate Spade Malmo flatware setting. I'm very happy with this purchase. I havent tried it on the dishwasher just yet but I recommend washing it in the dishwasher to prevent any swirl scratches from hand washing since it has a smooth shiny finish.

I just received 8 sets of this product and... very much satisfied at first sight. It looks modern and sleek, but is also good for formal dining. The knife is made of one piece of medal not with separate handles. I have searched for new sets of flatware for long and reviewed more than 20-30 popular products. I am very happy about my choce. Mine is made in Vietnam. I have not used them yet so I cannot say anything about the review about dishwashing or else.

Shun DMS444 4 pc. Block Set

Shun DMS444 4 pc. Block SetGreat set for Shun classic knives. It includes three of the most versatile knives each of which is slender, light-weight and sharp, with typically high Shun quality. The 11-slot Bamboo block enables you to gradually fill it in with the knives YOU want unlike typical sets which come with a bunch of knives you might not use. The natural anti-microbial properties of bamboo make this a great place to store knives. The only complaint I had was a lot of sawdust in the block, requiring the quick use of a blower or shop vac to get it all cleaned out before use.

I love Shun knives for their quality and incredible cutting ability. This was an incredible purchase. I also have six other Shun knives.

Greetings fellow amazonians, now that I have been in the carnival for a while I wanted to start to learn some extra skills that my come in handy (you know fire eating, glass chewing or any other desirable skill that's out there). I picked up these knives because they looked cool and because our local knife thrower was going to teach me how to do it. First he said I had to find an assistant and since mongo already works the funhouse I couldn't take him. So Eugene was the lucky one since he spends most of the day playing dungeons and dragons, and video games. Once I pulled him away from the computer I started my first lesson. The knife thrower said I needed to become the blade. I didn't know what that meant but I hoped he didn't want me to stab myself with it. He then clarified that I needed to make the blade like another body part; I understood this better; I just don't have any body parts that I typically throw. So the time had come and I set myself to throw the knife as eugene stood there against a wooden wall with an apple on his head. I told him to close his eye, but I could see he was too terrified. I pulled my arm back and let the knife rip. At that moment eugene ran as fast as he could out the door (I have never seen anyone run that fast). It turns out that it was a good thing that eugene left. My aim isn't so good and the knife hit the wooden wall right where eugenes chest would have been. The knife thrower was till impressed because I hit the apple as it fell to the ground so I may have a future in this after all. Thanks amazon for these great knives.

Wusthof 4109-7 Classic 5-Inch Tomato Knife

Wusthof 4109-7 Classic 5-Inch Tomato KnifeWhen I began collecting Wüsthof-Trident Classic knives twenty years ago, I chose the basics first: cook's knives, parers, slicers, utility knives, steak knives, boning & filet knives. I acquired them one or two at a time, always on sale, because this cutlery has been an expensive investment. When Wüsthof added a tomato knife to this line, I bought it even though I wasn't sure if I would like it or use it a lot. Now I recommend this 5-inch tomato knife to everyone. Its serrated edge hasn't needed sharpening ever, and it cuts, slices, dices, and chops fresh tomatoes so quickly. The forked tip is great for taking out the stem ends of tomatoes. I've never used my tomato knife on anything other than tomatoes, which is why I think it has stayed so sharp. I use my 8-inch serrated bread knife for slicing bagels and breads, and my 5-inch serrated utility knife for cutting citrus and other fruit. Also, I hand-wash and dry this knife and keep it stored in a wooden block.

You don't have to be a gourmet cook or have your own TV show to find good use for this knife. Anyone who has ever needed to make neat slices of ripe tomato in a hurry and ended up wishing that he or she had sharpened all the knives _yesterday_ is a person who will appreciate the ease with which this knife does the job. Anybody who has ever resorted to slicing tomatoes and/or fingers with a bread knife is going to love this knife.

It's use is not limited to tomatoes; I use my knives for whatever I please, and I use this one for slicing all sorts of foods that are too soft for easy even cutting. Ripe peaches, soft cheeses--that sort of thing; it's not big enough and it's too sharp to be really safe as a bread knife.

If you are peeling the tomatoes, though, you may want a straight-edged paring knife of some sort; this serrated blade doesn't do the neatest job on that part unless you make a work of art out of it. It doesn't bother me, because I never peel tomatoes unless I'm cooking them.

I know it's heresy and not classy at all, but I put it in the dishwasher. I lay it by itself on the top rack, so that nothing will knock against it; I wash all my good knives that way, and some of them are over twenty years old and still look good and hold an edge, so why not? Life's too short to spend it hand washing things that are clearly said to be dishwasher safe.

Buy Wusthof 4109-7 Classic 5-Inch Tomato Knife Now

This knife works as advertised and is a fine knife in-and-of-itself; however, I find that the Wusthof Classic 5-Inch Serrated Utility Knife ends up being a better tomato knife primarily because the pointed tip (as opposed to the forked tip on this one) makes short work of cutting out the rough core where the tomato was attached to the vine. The forked tip of this knife seemed like a useful feature and was the primary reason that I purchased it but in reality it has never lived up to its perceived usefulness.

While this is a good knife, I would normally of given it 4 stars, the single bevel grind on this knife basically ruins any advantage this knife has for the left handed person.

Acrylic Plastic Products Cutting Board, 9-Inch by 12-Inch

Acrylic Plastic Products Cutting Board, 9-Inch by 12-InchFor a inexpensive chopping board, this product is just fine. Unfortunately, after the first dishwash, the plastic legs came off, but as they were mostly unnecessary, I didn't care. Gourmet cooks will probably require a higher standard (and price), but for the average household, several of these boards are perfect.

These acrylic boards are superior to other types of cutting boards I have tried. They do not stain, do not retain odors, are effortless to clean and dry, and storage is also easy. I have three different sizes (this is the one I use the most). I also have a larger size for dinner preparation for larger groups, and a small-sized one that I can hang on my kitchen utility storage rack. Works great for cutting cheese, chopping veggies (especially onions). I would like to see these come with different designs available to help coordinate with other kitchen decorations, or when giving as a gift. I am thinking of looking for some waterproof window decals to stick on the underside of the board, such as flowers, garden vegetables or cute little animals. I always wash my boards by hand -I do not use a dishwasher nor do I let them soak in the dishwater.

I think these are more sanitary than the wooden ones and they are easy to clean by putting them in the dishwasher. It's a good size. I have about 5 of them and I wash them in dishwasher after each use. They scratch eventually, but not much. Those little feet always fall off, so I don't even miss them.

I mainly bought this because it is clear and I can leave it out on the counter without it appearing in the way in the kitchen. As others have mentioned, on of the "legs" did come off after a couple of weeks but I put it back on (without any additional adhesive) and it hasn't come off again several weeks later. I'm not an expert on knives but from what I've read, this is not the best surface to have to maintain a nice edge.

Bottom line: If you have a nice knife collection and need something to preserve them, stay away from this and any cutting board like it. If you don't care about your cutlery and just need something cheap to cut up veggies on, this may be the item for you.

I have a bad habit of cutting right on my counter because I'm too lazy to get out a cutting board to slice something small and quick. I stayed at all suites hotel recently where they had one of these on the counter. It blended right into the counter and was there when I needed it. Right after i got home, I searched and found this one. Now it has a permanent home right on my counter and gets used almost everyday.

Zyliss Stainless-Steel Cake Server with Detachable Blade

Zyliss Stainless-Steel Cake Server with Detachable BladeI first saw this at a grocery store selling for $18. I thought it was crazy spending that much for a cake server, but when i saw this for $10 on Amazon, I thought it would be perfect to try with all the holiday desserts that I planned to make. My main desire for this product was to allow me to serve a piece of pie or cake without having to either put my finger on the food, flip the food on its side, or having to serve with a server in one hand a knife in the other. Product works like a dream. I was able to serve using this simple tool which allowed me to dispense cakes and pies on plates without having to touch their food or ruin the appearance of what I was serving. The edge of the metallic blade is perfect for breaking the pie crust. The plastic piece that slides out is made from a durable plastic so it does not feel cheap nor is it difficult to slide.

My main concern of this product was cleaning it. With the sliding plastic blade, I was concerned that crust or pieces of food could easily get trapped within the moving parts. After washing this a few times, I have to say that is no longer a concern. It cleans very easily without trapping any food.

the black blade didn't fit the main server well. the quality should be expected higher with that price.

My 9-year-old saw this when we were food shopping and insisted we buy it for his mom/my wife. It works exactly as described.
