Victorinox Paring, Sheep's Foot, Small, Red Nylon, 3.25 in.

Victorinox Paring, Sheep's Foot, Small, Red Nylon, 3.25 in.I love this knife. It's razor sharp, and the shape is perfect for me, which I prefer over the classic shape. The knife stays clean, it's easy to hold, and the plastic handle is better than wood, since it won't rot and has texture for a good grip.

There's absolutely nothing to dislike about this knife, and I like everything about it.

However, note that the blade is pretty thin (and very sharp), so don't use it to pry things open or apart. That's what screwdrivers are for. :-)

Unica Flatware Collection "Daniel" 24-Piece White-Handle, Vibro Finish Flatware Set plus Blue Organ

Unica Flatware Collection 'Daniel' 24-Piece White-Handle, Vibro Finish Flatware Set plus Blue Organizer, Service for 6I would have given this set 5 stars, but the teaspoons are small and remind me of baby spoons. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase and I love the bright white handles.

Figured the price was great, and I can see why. Look like they may last 3 months. The forks, only ones in order, are not standard dinner size, they are salad type. Oh well.

I have always loved the Arthur Court Grape Series, and this is no exception. It's a small plate to serve brie or other similar cheese or rich small dessert. It looks lovely on a small breakfast table for two. Very well made, functional as well as decorative.

OMNI V Blender 3 HP Heavy Duty Professional, Multi-Speed, Timer, 6 Knives Blade

OMNI V Blender 3 HP Heavy Duty Professional, Multi-Speed, Timer, 6 Knives BladeThe best bang for the buck. Blends everything just like the Vitamix and Blendtec... little longer (in the seconds) blending. Done! Super fine smoothies and soups. Really happy!

I first tried a Vitamix, but it was way too expensive and did much more than I needed. I returned it, and THEY REFUNDED ALL of my money, AND sent me a paid shipping label to return it (as it should be)! I found the Omni online, and it cost less, so I thought I would try it. The owner told me my money would be refunded if it didn't work for me. He said NOTHING about me paying for both initial and return shipping! Bottom line I needed a tamper for every smoothie, even when do everything correctly. Not cool got very tired of it. Saw the Blendtec at Costco, and you don't even need a tamper for that one built way better too. I returned the Omni and he charged me for both shippings!!! I suggest you get a Blendtec instead very powerful, simple, sturdy and easy to clean. LOVE MY BLENDTEC!!! Owner of largest health food store in Alaska swears by Blendtec too!

Cast Iron Taiyaki Pan

Cast Iron Taiyaki PanI looked incredibly hard for a good cast iron taiyaki pan and was so excited to finally find this oneand now I'm incredibly disappointed! The pan I received was Aluminum coated in teflon, materials linked to Alzheimer and other health issues! I immediately requested a full refund and am awaiting a response. Please do not buy this pan if you are at all concerned about your health! Amazon should remove this pan!

I wish the pan was a little heavier and had a darker finish, but that's personal preference speaking. There aren't very many of these pans available online, that I have found, in cast iron.

It does the job. Takes a little practice, but the same can be said for anything.

Chicago Cutlery Belden 15-Piece Block Knife Set

Chicago Cutlery Belden 15-Piece Block Knife SetNeeded to replace my old knives, which were Oster knives. Hesitated for a while after reading some reviews. Received the knives and started using them the first day. The knives are sharp and easy to handle. The only knife that I really don't care for is the serrated utility knife (5"), I am hoping to find a none serrated knife to match the set. I don't care for serrated because you cannot sharpen them and they are awkward for me to use. Others may have no problem with the serrated knife. The remaining knives are fabulous and the steak knives actually cut not tear. The knives feel solid in your hand to include the steak knives. I don't think anyone would be disappointed in this set.

Chef'n Leaf Shear Salad Shears, Arugula

Chef'n Leaf Shear Salad Shears, ArugulaI was intrigued by this new kitchen gadget when I first saw it in the beautiful Su La Table catalog. But when my husband monopolized the chopping board one day, I decided to order this because I knew I could slice the veggie with this WITHOUT the chopping board. It cuts leafy vegetable very well and for the stalky part of the lettuce you have to push it to the pivot point of the shears.

Free from sharp knives and chopping board and WON'T RUST. We've used this for about a month and are quite pleased with this spiffy little tool.

Great concept, but poor results. These may be good for snipping herbs or very small items (and can't you do that with your kitchen shears anyway?), but is more trouble than they are worth for lettuce. They are difficult to handle and makes the process of cutting the lettuce VERY SLOW. I like using the plastice "brownie" or lettuce knife and just chop it up that way. Much faster and more effective.

I really like this product. Shipped on time. Works like a charm. Only complaint would be that I wish they were longer.

Really was hoping I would like the salad shears but to me they were worthless! My good ol' kitchen scissors, though not nearly as pretty, did a better job of cutting/shearing the various kinds of lettuce! As for the iceberg lettuce staying greener and not browning up like it always does, I couldn't see that by using the salad shears that mine faired anymore than it usually did -still brown and yucky after a week or so. I sold my shears or did I pitch them -don't know, can't remember but at least they're not taking up space in the drawer anymore.

Bread Slicer -Multi-functional (Large)

Bread Slicer -Multi-functionalMaybe I am just too particular. But my issue is that you have to put the loaf in, cut a piece, move the loaf, remove and place the cut piece elsewhere, put the loaf back in, and continue this cycle until you are complete in cutting your entire loaf. I want to cut a piece, push the loaf up, cut another, etc. This is not the slicer for that. Also, it slides around way to easy. I literally had my 10 year old hold the unit steady, while I used both my hands to hold the loaf in place and cut the pieces. I am so bummed about this purchase. I think the ONLY thing I actually like about it is that it has the option for different widths.

Oh, there was a gift sent with the product by the seller. That was very sweet. AND it got to me WAY earlier than expected, so that was cool too.

I love this product. It was shipped on time and packaged well. The product itself held no disappointment for us. We like the fact we can choose thickness of our slices. It seems quite sturdy which is important to us as it will be used every day. The fact that it folds up and stores in a very small space, but opens quickly and easily is yet another plus. As far as the instructions being in Japanese, not a problem, we looked at the pictures.

When ordering, I thought it a bit pricey, but now that I have it and like it so well, I don't mind paying the price.

This product is well made, and love how it stores away. However, it slices really wide slices, even on the thinnest setting. If you make whole wheat bread, like we do, this means your sandwiches will be very thick and heavy with bread. This product is really meant for the light, white bread that is popular in Japan, where thick slices are the norm.

Why anybody gives this a five star rating is beyond me. The platform where the bread is placed is not firm but flexible with no way to fix. Useable but makes holding the bread difficult. This would probably be OK for standard commercial square bread. But try cutting a country or odd shaped European style bread and you need three hands. An overpriced molded plastic which barely meets its purpose. Save your money.

Want Bread Slicer -Multi-functional (Large) Discount?

I bought this and really liked it at first. So much I decided to buy a new bread knife because mine was not overly sharp as it came from a cheap set. I bought a Victorinox 47547 10-1/4-Inch Wavy Bread Knife, Black Fibrox Handle and began finding white pieces of plastic shavings on the bread. After a bit of looking I found the knife used to slice thin pieces from the guide making the product unusable. So unless you are using a fairly dull bread knife I would look for a stainless steel bread guide. On that not I have yet to find one. Perhaps the makers of this product might look at that.

Kyocera Electric Diamond Knife Sharpener for Ceramic Knives

Kyocera Electric Diamond Knife Sharpener for Ceramic KnivesI have purchased about 5 sharpeners (black ceramic, 4 diamond sharpeners) that were supposed to sharpen ceramic knives. My wife brought this model back from Japan just recently and it sharpened my two ceramics like none of the others. Like the first reviewer said almost as sharp as factory. My big knife had a small nick in it and the directions explained how to grind it out and it worked. Ignore the others and get this one. Battery powered which worried me, but no problems were encountered.

I really did not expect it to work! It puts a beautiful edge on my Kyocera a knives. The edge is very close to factory. I tried to sharpen with my with my various diamonds to no avail. This is an impressive product and the first real option to sending your knives back for a factory sharpening.

I bought this as a gift and the recipient, absolutely loves the ability to sharpen their ceramic knives themselves. At first thought everyone was cautious as to the machines ability, but after running a severely dull knife through it a few times, it came back to life and was able to be used. The only issue is that some knives have a continuous edge from the tang to the tip and those you can't really get in there to sharpen, so this works with some ceramic knives.

I purchased this sharpener as a as a last ditch effort to rescue a badly chipped and dull ceramic knife before having to throw away an expensive piece of cutlery.

It took a while (more passes than the instructions) to completely eliminate some large chips. I was quite amazed it worked as well as it did. I have a few of these knives of various sizes and I'm not having to be so careful about using them now.

If you have a hefty investment in ceramic cutlery as I do, I really recommend the investment in this sharpener.

You can use it on steel knives as well, so it's now my favorite sharpener of the many I own.

Want Kyocera Electric Diamond Knife Sharpener for Ceramic Knives Discount?

At first, the sharpener was a complete disappointment. I popped in new batteries, tried to shapen my knives per the instructions and it just kept stalling and failing. A couple of days later I bought new batteries from a different brand and it actually worked great some batteries must just lack the power to run it well.

Now, my knives weren't too dull to begin with, so I can't say how well it works on heavily (ab)used or nicked knives, but it did grind a better blade on them. My knives don't feel as sharp as they were from the factory, but there's a definite improvement and this way I don't have to mail them out to the factory for resharpening.

The sharpening sound is obviously unpleasant, but what can you really expect from a diamond wheel grinding against a ceramic blade?

My only real complaint is the lack of a/c power I'd rather plug it into the wall than have to buy new batteries.

4-Pc Side Tang Steak Knife Set

4-Pc Side Tang Steak Knife SetThough it was great to get an affordable replacement to a knife we had lost from out Oneida knife set, I was surprised to see some rust forming on the metal as it dried in the dish drain. I guess we will have to be sure to dry them as soon as they are washed as whatever coating was on the original steak knives, in the set, does not seem to be completely covering the replacement knife we had used from this product. Still, a great option if you are prone to throwing forks out by mistake after a night of entertainment.

Shun DM0766 Classic Western Chef's Knife, 8-Inch

Shun DM0766 Classic Western Chef's Knife, 8-InchI absolutely love this knife. I have owned this for about 5 months now.

Yes, it is extremely sharp.

It is my "go-to" for prep work. I mostly use it for large-quantity vegetable prep, but it is heavy (and sharp!) enough to break down and cube large cuts of meat as well. The wider blade of this Western-style Chef's knife is nice for the "chop & scoop" move.

It feels great in my hand and I love the balance and weight of it. It's easy to handle and maneuver. It has held up very well so far with absolutely no issues.

In my opinion this is a must-have when building a set of quality kitchen knives.

My general thoughts on Shun knives:

I have chosen switch from my German Wusthof and Henckels I've been collecting since college and started building a set of Shuns. In doing so, I've noticed a few things:

Firstly, they are absolutely stunning to look at. If I'm honest, it is a large part of why I love these. Superficial, I know, but when people come over for dinner, they actually notice and compliment them. You won't get the same reaction with a Wusthof.

Practically, though:

I prefer the D-shaped handles of the Shun. It's comfortable for both the "hammer" and "pinch grip".

The Shuns are literally razor-sharp. These really slice through things quite effortlessly. The angle on the Japanese knives is different than on German steel. If new to Shun, take some time to familiarize yourself with this fact.

The Damascas steel is extremely hard, and these knives are incredibly well-made.

How I simplify the comparison:

The Germans engineer some amazing things, and their cutlery is world-class. There really isn't a task that the Shun does that a Wusthof can't.

It's just that the Shuns do it with such precision and beauty. I am extremely pleased with my set of Shuns and I absolutely consider them an upgrade to their German counterparts.

As with anything of value, take care of them. Always hand wash and never put in the dishwasher; and always store them appropriately. The limited lifetime warranty is great, and Shun offers free knife sharpening (aside from shipping costs).

Towle Arctic 5-Piece Flatware Place Setting

Towle Arctic 5-Piece Flatware Place SettingI already had 4 place settings of this attractive flatware and was pleased to find more on Amazon.com. The price was very good. I already knew the quality would be very good, too.

I almost always find 18/10 stainless steel flatware to be too heavy or too large (who wants a fork with prongs that long in their mouth?)...and when it's not, I don't like the design. Too many frills, or just too provocative/bold looking.

I realized I've always had a few forks I loved, that were just around since college. They didn't match any sets I'd gotten since then, but I kept them because they were so comfortable in weight and handling. I liked how they looked, too, except that they were scratched up a bit. I just always assumed they were part of a brand-less, randomly well made but long lost line of flatware.

Well after researching various new flatware sets and not liking anything, I flipped over the forks I had....and discovered they were Towle! 18/8 specifically. I immediately went to the company's website to see if they still made this line, leading me to the Arctic line.

Now a quick note --on that website, the product is listed as 18/8. When receiving the flatware from Amazon, they matched the appearance perfectly, they happened to be 18/10....but I'd already picked them up before seeing this, and the weight felt identical with my 18/8 forks -perhaps the tiniest bit heavier, but as someone already sensitive to "too-heavy" flatware, I definitely felt comfortable with this weight.

HIghly recommend this line! It may not be flashy, but it's definitely timeless and comfortable...and great quality! (my three eight year old forks have never rusted...and that's saying something, given that four of those years were spent in college. I just realized they must be more than eight years old, since I got them through random roommate encounters, not buying them as part of a set in a store).

Ricci Ascot 5-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Place Setting, Service for 1

Ricci Ascot 5-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Place Setting, Service for 1I chose this rating because, while the product itself is excellent, the MSRP (around $80 for a 5-pc placesetting) is too high.

This pattern is known as a "thread" pattern, so-called because there is an incised line, or thread, around the handles. A very classic and classy pattern. The size is "Continental", so it has a heavy, fine restaurant feel to it. It is done in beautiful high-polish 18/10 stainless, and the attention to detail is good. The knife blade is the best I've seen in any flatware. This is the last flatware I'm going to buy in my lifetime. I just wish it was priced more realistically.

Chef Works ECSS-WHT Capri Egyptian Cotton Short Sleeve Coat, White, Size 42

Chef Works ECSS-WHT Capri Egyptian Cotton Short Sleeve Coat, White, Size 42I like this chef coat, It runs a bit large, I ordered the 44" jacket. and It's a bit big on me. I'm 5'10" and about 200Lbs. It is long in the torso and I have enough room underneath to where in outside my winter coat. Just yesterday I was measured for a wedding and they told me that I have a 46" chest. I like the fabric and the look of the jacket but i think that I'll sell them to a coworker.

Maybe I'll order them again next time they are at 50%.

Classic 6' Utility KnifeI'm still using Wusthof knives I bought in 1974. They stay sharp for a long time and are easy to resharpen when necessary. Be sure to hand wash these knives with the wooden handles. It's best to hand wash any good knife anyway.

Trudeau Oyster Knife Set

Trudeau Oyster Knife SetI was reordering one of these because we lost the one I had and decided to write a review.

I shuck a lot of oysters. My sister has the expensive Wusthof shucker that I've sometimes used, and I much prefer this one. The blade on this one is a little more blunt than the Wusthof, yet the longer blade of the Trudeau seems to be more efficient in penetrating the shell (and probably less dangerous more on that in a second). What's more, the plastic sheath of the Trudeau is much easier on your hands than the metal sheath of the Wusthof. I can usually get away without using gloves with the Trudeau using a steel sink as my "backstop", but with the Wusthof, gloves are damn near a necessity for both hands. Oysters require a fair amount of force to open, and opening multiple oysters with the Wusthof without gloves gives me a bloody ring around my index finger and thumb from all the pressure against the edges of its metal sheath. Also, its sharp blade has my fearing about a slip on the other hand. I've never had an accident with it, but I'm sure it would just be a matter of time. I'm faster with the Trudeau, the plastic sheath is hand friendly, I never have to worry about stitches from its blunt blade, and I usually never need to wear a glove only occasionally on the receiving hand only to prevent minor scrapes from gripping the oysters. I own a lot of great Wusthof knives, but do yourself and your wallet a favor and go with the Trudeau here.

I needed an oyster knife. After searching amazon for different knives I thought I would be smart and purchase not only the knife but also this plastic shell. The knife is solid and works well. However, the plastic shell is harder to use than a hand towel. When placed inside the plastic shell, the oyster stays in place but when you need to move the knife to a portion of the oyster covered by the plastic shell, you need to open the shell and rotate the oyster. It seems that a hand towel would serve the same purpose and probably not cost a penny (since most people own a towel). Just my two cents.

I was opening oysters with a screwdriver until i got this knife. Since then i've opened over a hundred with little effort using it! I haven't really used the plastic holder yet, just a glove, but the knife is of excellent quality and can really take a beating! This was a great choice!

Wenger Swibo Butcher Knife, Large Blade

Wenger Swibo 14-1/10-Inch Butcher Knife, Large BladeI have quite a few big knives but this is now the biggest. I use it for cutting large steaks across the full face of whole rumps, slicing sirloin steaks and slicing topsides. I've cut up few other things just for the sake of it, but it really is purpose built for butchery.

I have a couple swibo knives (a filleter and the 12 inch chefs knife), this blade is a little thinner than the chefs knife and is not really suitable for hard chopping of things like pumpkins, but perfectly good for meat.

The knife came delivered razor sharp and was well packaged by Amazon. Delivery time was good, just before scheduled.

At a much better price than one could buy it for in Australia, it was a good buy for me.

Excellent cutting utensil. Very sharp and sturdy construction. Handle well balanced with knife for ease of use, makes cutting through large roasts very, very easy. Shipped very quickly.

Buy Wenger Swibo Butcher Knife, Large Blade Now

I bought the 14" knife with no particular use in mind. It is much lighter than I expected, and surprisingly well balanced. The stout handle is attached solidly, molded on, not riveted. It's doesn't seem to be a good fit for someone with small hands.

The fit and finish are just superb, and the polish on the blade makes it look like a work of art. The handle color is not "bright yellow" though, it is safety orange. No way it is getting lost in a kitchen or outside cutting up game. This is a slicing knife, I suspect it's too light to be useful for hacking through a bone or opening a coconut. But those are jobs for a cleaver, not a knife, anyway.
