Kuhn Rikon 4-Inch Nonstick Colori Paring Knife

This is the best paring knife I have ever used. The blade is incredibly sharp and the handle is comfortable. And of course the color is fun and makes the knife easy the find in the drawer or the dish water. The case protects the blade in the drawer and makes it easy to take camping. The blade doesn't stick to anything, not even soft cheese. I have two myself and bought one as a gift. I would highly recommed this knife to everyone.

The Kuhn Rikon Nonstick Paring Knife is a very good value for a quality knife. We own several of these knives in different colors for use at home and in our shop. The different colors allow us keep the ones we use to cut materials in our workshop from accidently being used for food products.

The blade is *VERY* sharp and holds it's edge very nicely. The nonstick coating on the blade is a real plus as it helps to keep the knife clean as well as to keep it moving through thicker items. The snug fitting platic sheath is a welcome addition to safely store or transport the knife.

My only complaint is the light feel of the plastic handle. It isn't flimsy exactly, just lacks heft. This might just be a personal prefference issue and it hasn't stopped me from buying more of them.

Overall this is a very good paring knife at a reasonable price. Recommended!

When I first received the product it appeared by looks and touch to be dull BUT I bought it originally to match my kitchen. I was out of clean knives so decided to try and WOW or WOW what an amazing product. On the expensive side yes..............but as long as they continue to cut like they do now........they have become the favorite knives in the house by the entire family. Arcos Maitre 6-Inch Utility Knife

This knife is excellent for its price range. Even if there are better knives for this kind of money out there, it would take you much more time and effort to find them than is worth it. For $12 this is a decent allaround knife. Why only "decent"? Read ahead.

First, the steel of the blade is not so great, it cannot be sharpened too well because of the large grain and its relatively soft. Also it means that it will have to be resharpened more often.

The design of the blade is not perfect eitherthe straight part is too short and its too thick, therefore when using it on vegetables such as potatoes, it does not perform perfectly. It still is much better than any cheapo knife, just bear in mind that you will have to slice rather than cut.

However, all of this is nitpicking. The bottom line is that this is a fantastic knife for this kind of money and with a bit of care, it will serve you for many years to come.

World Cuisine 2-3/4-Inch Forged Paring Knife

I was looking for a French style fluting knife like the one pictured on Amazon with a sharply pointed triangular blade and a rather straight cutting edge and with a rat-tail tang set into a one-piece handle with a metal ferrule where the blade joins the handle. The knife pictured on Amazon looked to be just what I wanted. Unfortunately, the knife I received was a German style knife with a much more curved cutting edge, a forged bolster at the base of the blade and a two-piece handle attached to the tang of the blade with rivets. It doesn't seem to be a bad knife, although the finish was a bit rough, but was not at all what I was looking for or what was pictured on the site. I returned the knife and asked for a refund.

This is an excellent knife given the right conditions. If you find yourself cooking large roasts of any sort, this is the knife to carve with.

This thing goes through prime rib like no other knife I've ever used. You want paper thin beef? Done. Big honking thick slices of beef? Done.

The one drawback of this knife is when you are slicing near bones. It's a pretty stiff knife and very long with a blunt tip. If you want to get the tender little bits from the bone, get another knife out, or plan on getting your hands dirty!

The first time I used this was to slice soporsato for the Superbowl....Excellent knife! I was able to slice this cured sausage diagonally, and with thin, even slices which can be really difficult. Love this knife....I look forward to many years of use with this knife!

Victorinox 8-Inch Bread Knife with Blade Protector

I had been using my Mom's old bread knife for years but finally convinced myself to buy this one as a treat. I love it, the price is good and it really cuts those crusty loaves!!! I have several other Victorinox brand knives and I'm crazy for them!

This knife will take abuse and still continue cutting well. A friend made a loaf of bread in a bread machine and forgot to remove the metal paddle before using my knife to slice the bread. The paddle took quite a beating and the knife only had a few minor nicks in the blade. It still slices just as well as it did before.

Accu Sharp 010 Filet Knife Sharpener

It used to only be available inbait stores, this is the best sharpener available. I would buy them when I was back east, nice to be able to just order online.

Bought this as I expect to actually catch some fish and have them for a meal. I understand from another review that you cannot buy this at the stores? It is what it is designed for, to sharpen your blades. Well, it does just that,"No brainer". I put it to use on my fillet knife and ended up with a razor edge. So proceeded to do about all my knives and the same results. Remember NOT to apply much pressure while drawing it across the blade. You will feel the cutting and just a light touch at the end will end the chore. Of course it's plastic but still nice quality and the safety strap will come in handy for those less challenged (who shouldn't play with sharp objects anyway) Still haven't tried it on a fish yet?

This board started to split at the edges after a few months. Never had it in the dishwasher. Always hand washed. Bamboo is great for utensils, but sucks for cutting boards. Not sure why sustainable cutting boards are needed anyway. A well made wooden board will last 20 years. Hardly seems like a serious environmental impact.

When I first saw these I thought they were a neat idea and not too expensive so I bought a pair to try them out. I was a little concerned as to whether they would be top heavy when used as chopsticks but they are so light in general I experienced no such problems. I am pretty good with chopsticks but if you're not this material might present a challenge to use in spite of the textured ends that give it a better grip on the food. They are somewhere in between standard wooden ones and metal ones as far as ease of use. As for the knife and fork -they are quite effective for the foods with which I have tried using them (a lot of stir fried dishes and also pasta dishes). For the most part I haven't had to use the knife portion much but it seems to cut fine when I tried it -still both are pretty thick so the knife might not be ideal for something like cutting meat off the bone. Both pieces feel relatively sturdy so I wouldn't worry about breaking them with added pressure.

Since buying them I have gotten a couple more pairs for my family who all seem to enjoy them.

Our kids were excited when they received this for Christmas. It was a bit of a gag gift, but they also love to eat with chop sticks, so we thought why not?

The only thing I think this product needs is some texture at the chop stick ends because they are so smooth, it's hard to get a good grip on the food. My husband who is really good with chop sticks even has some trouble. We talked about roughening up the ends a bit so they grip better, but we haven't done that yet.

We're still happy we bought them, and they are durable.

They might be 23 inches too long the knife useless unless your cutting warm butter, i'd rather it was a spoon. all in all they work ok and I will probably buy another pair especially if a spoon is attached..

Silvermark Salad Server / Spoon Rest Set, Stainless Steel

Okay, so I bought these bc I was looking for spoon rests to match my kitchen decor...LOVE THEM! I really only use the "smooth" one bc the other one is clearly for a salad spoon, but if I needed a 2nd spoon rest during my cooking I'd use it. The other one sits out all the time; they're sturdy, pretty, not that "finished" stainless like some other things, that rubs off. Very pleased with my purchase.

Bigger than expected, which makes it a little clumsy looking in my opinion but, of course, that's completely subjective. Nice and solid, good value for the cost.

This spoon set does look nice and they wash in the dishwasher very nicely.

My complaint is that we use them solely as spoon rests and the handles are too high for what I like. If you have something drippy on the spoon you want to rest (such as spaghetti sauce) I want the bowl of the spoon to rest in the bowl of the spoon rest and these handles are positioned such that the spoons rock back & the handle rests on the highest point of the spoon rest handle. Not a huge problem but the sauce tends to run down the handle of the spoon, getting the handle of the spoon rest all yuckky. I'd much prefer the sauce to collect in the spoon rest bowl.

Are they functional as a spoon rest? Mostly.

Would I buy them again for a spoon rest? No.

They probably work very nicely as a salad server set. They do nest nicely if you wanted to store them.

Chicago Cutlery Centurion 7.5-Inch Bread Knife

I previously purchased the Chicago Cutlery 8 inch Chef's knife and was so impressed with the quality for the money I bought this knife. When it arrived, I noticed the same quality as the Chef's knife but also an unexpected bonus of a plastic blade cover included with this one. I wish my Chef's knife had come with one of these.

I bake bread and this knife works perfectly to slice cleanly through it without shredding. It has a full tang blade, and feels good in my hand. I think these knives are an excellent value. I would recommend them and I would buy them again.

Fiesta Plum 5-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 1

We have a nice set of china and silverware for the dining room but had an awful mishmash of mismatched flatware & "dishes" for the kitchen table. Since Fiesta had a huge old sale recently, we decided to back up the truck and buy an entire set of dishes. We were extremely impressed by the quality and decided to give the flatware a try. I received this flatware set today and opened it to find it matched my fiesta heather plates perfectly, but was not dark like fiesta plum dishes are. There were also some sharp metal edges peaking out from the end caps near the base of a spoon and a fork. I have 5 other colors of this type of flatware that match the stated color perfectly so I will try another order in case these ones were just marked wrong. If they arrive without the sharp edges, I'll live with the shade problem if it's still apparent.

Fiskars 158920-1001 Package Opener Plus More With Snap-in Screwdriver

I purchased three separate package openers to always have something on hand to open those terrible blister packs with. You know the ones that not even a Pit Bull could get open. Well, I do believe this one will do the trick. I immediately opened it. How simple. The plastic was simply glued to it all the way around the package. I ripped it out and began to use it to open another one of my new treasures from Amazon, another package opener. Well. Of course, that one too had been simply glued all the way around the pack (for us simple minded women). Then I had to tape the cardboard holder back together because it contains pictures and information I want to save.

This FISKARS has slanted blades which help in tackling blister packs. It has a sliding lock on the handle to open blades. A very good safety feature considering how sharp the blades are. This one also had a small screw driver, for working in small spaces, attached between the handles. This tool is FAR SUPERIOR to two others that I ordered at the same time.

2-7-12: This is "da bomb"! Wow! This tool is worth twice what I paid for it. It has the perfect weight, size, design and boy does it get the job done. I should buy another to keep in my garden hand tool carry all. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this wonderful tool to everyone who ever tried to open one of those industrial strength blister packs.

This tool makes opening packaging easy. I've used it on thick plastic clam packaging and it cuts through all parts with little effort (thick outer edge and easier to cut interior). The handles are comfortable, blades are sharp and provide enough leverage to use with one hand without straining. I've cut myself with a sharp knife by slicing through a clam pack into the hand holding the package. In the emergency room while receiving stitches they told me it is a common injury, especially during the holidays. I have also used it to cut open cardboard toy packaging and to cut the small wire ties holding the toy in place. The opener speeds this process up and gets the toy out more quickly than untwisting the ties. The tip of the blade is small enough and strong enough to get close to the toy and cut the ties without damaging the toy. Haven't used the small screwdriver yet but it's a nice bonus item.

This is another holiday season must have with all the gifts you will be giving and getting in return, you need a handy tool like this to open all those hard to cut plastic ties and packages. I love this as it is very sharp and cuts just about anything open and the tips of the scissors can get into tight spots. The little screw driver is a great idea as after I opened toys for my son, I always have to put batteries in! It is stored in a convenient place. Very great product!

I love the Henckels Four Star line, having started using them well over 15 years ago. I bought this set on Warehouse Deals and have been using it regularly. It is very sharp, so please handle with care, and get it professional sharpened on a regular basis!

It has been said that a chef only needs three knives: the Chef's, the Paring, and the Serrated Bread. I've always felt this list a little short as there are some tasks that a paring knife can't easily manage, where a utility should be more useful. However, the 4-inch length of this parer gives one just enough for tasks like boning and it effectively becomes an able paring and utility knife in one. So, with this set, all one really needs is a bread knife, making it a very good starter set--not at all like those trying to sneak in something unneeded. The towels are both an attractive and useful bonus, especially since quality cutlery ought be washed and dried by hand.

The knives themselves are everything you'd expect from the German manufacturer. Seamlessly finished and well-weighted. The Chef knife has good heft to it and the Paring is not too light. Edge retention is very good on this steel; while not quite so good as that of high-end Japanese cutlery, they are not nearly so fragile and certainly not so expensive.

All and all, I am very pleased with this set. Quality, performance, usefulness, and price all come well-balanced. I'd recommend it either for personal use or as a gift. Neither you nor the recipient should be disappointed.
