Trudeau Stress Less Steel Pizza Cutter

Trudeau Stress Less Steel Pizza CutterThis Stress Less Steel Pizza Cutter from Trudeau has a few minor--but effective--tweaks that made a much bigger difference to my overall enjoyment of the product than I would have imagined.

A bit of backstory: I'm an avid home baker and one of my favorite things to make is homemade pizza. (I was never jealous of Gwyneth Paltrow, despite the riches, the skinniness, the Academy Award... until I learned she had her very own wood-fired pizza oven in her back yard. That b****. But I digress...)

At any rate, over the past years I've collected 3 different pizza cutters and I really never gave them much thought. One I bought, one was included in the purchase of a pizza stone, and one I've had so long that its origin is clouded in mystery at this point. Garage sale, probably. So I thought I knew from pizza cutters, is my point. When a friend gave me this one, I thanked her politely and added it to the "miscellaneous kitchen tools" drawer with little thought other than "Wow, that's a BIG blade."

But then I used it -it's really NICE! Homemade pizza dough (at least mine) tends to be really thick and chewy. The big wheel cut right through the dough with no problem and no sawing (well, rolling-back-and-forth) necessary. The larger wheel also seemed to allow me to convey more force with less effort, if that makes any sense. I don't know, I got a "C" in 10th grade physics -I just know this badboy cut the pizza really easily. There's a litle "lip" on the handle that lets you hold it close to the blade without worrying that you'll cut yourself. I'd imagine that this would let someone with hand problems (like arthritis, for example) find a comfortable grip and use the strength of their arm to cut w/o requiring a particularly strong grip.

My favorite feature, however, is the way that the wheel detaches from the handle to allow for cleaning (it's super-easy to take apart, but stays together even when pushing hard on the handle). Plus, the handle is plastic, which means you can put the whole thing in the dishwasher. When you pile pizza with everything but the kitchen sink, as I am wont to do, that's a pretty handy feature. It's a good value for the price, too.

Overall, I've officially given this pizza cutter WAY more thought that I've ever imagined possible! As, clearly, did the designers at ::checks item title:: Trudeau. Kudos, guys. This is a keeper.

Wusthof 17-slot Storing Knife Block.

Wusthof 17-slot Storing Knife Block. The Wusthof 17 slot knife block is made of finished oak. It takes up about 4.5"x10.5" of counter space. Its slots are as follows, from top to bottom:

wide slot for a chef's knife of up to 10.5" (27cm) blade length

square hole for a sharpening steel of up to 10.5" (27cm) length

wide slot for a chef's knife of up to about 9.5" (24cm) length; you might be able to put a 10" knife in this slot, but the tip might protrude a bit into the space between the bottom and the counter

slot for a narrower knife of up to about 9.5" (24cm) length, such as a carving knife or a bread knife; as above, you might be able to squeeze in a 10" knife

two moderately wide slots for knives up to 9" (22cm) blade length; note that a 23cm blade would probably not fit, even though it would still round to 9"

wide slot for a chef's knife of up to 8" (20cm) blade length

narrow slot with a curved cutout, 8" length; my Wusthof kitchen shears will fit this slot, either flat or at an angle to avoid blocking the slot to the left, but the slot is not good for knives because the nonrectangulat outline can cause the blade to hang up when dropped in

three small slots, 7" (18cm) long, but only wide enough for smaller knives, such as the paring knife, utility knife, or tomato knife

six vertically oriented slots, 4.5"-5" (11-12cm) long, intended for steak knives

I received this block with a set of Wusthof Culinar knives. It appears to be of very nice workmanship. The finish does chip a little at the sides of the slots if you drop your knives into the block as I do; however, this doesn't affect the functionality of the block. This is a good knife block for someone with a moderately full set of kitchen knives, or someone who likes the convenience of keeping steak knives in the block.

This is a sturdy knife block at a reasonable price. It would be nice to have a slot for a meat cleaver, but otherwise I am pleased with it.

J.A. Henckels 10-Slot Beechwood Knife Storage Block

J.A. Henckels 10-Slot Beechwood Knife Storage BlockBetter looking than the "other wood" blocks, sturdy construction. It's a knife block, and it works!

The placement of some of the slots is odd and the widths definitely seem to correspond to some Henckles set. I did have some problems owning more than one chef knife. Overall the quality of the block is excellent though.

This block is well made and very similar to one I've had for many years. We've figured out they will last even longer if we made sure the blade is wiped dry before inserting it. Maybe we are the only people that learned the hard way but when our old one finally broke we could see the moisture was causing the inside to become soft and moldy. Yea...yuck! This block will las a long time.

Furi Cutlery FX 10-Inch Coppertail Cook's Knife

Furi Cutlery FX 10-Inch Coppertail Cook's KnifeI purchased this knife not from Amazon but directly from the company. It's sharp and it stays that way. I keep a honing steel handy but I seldom use it with this knife. The slightly narrower blade allows you work the knife easily into tight working areas allowing you to surgically dissect a chicken in almost no time. It is also very well balanced. I haven't had the need to file down the copper end yet but I believe that some people will find it quite useful. About my only con with this knife is that the copper is quite hard to keep shining brightly.

Mundial 5817-10 10-Inch Cimeter Knife, Black

Mundial 5817-10 10-Inch Cimeter Knife, BlackI have owned the Mundial5817-10 Cimeter knife for about a year now and I love it. I bbq, make sausage, and cure my own meats on a regular basis and needed a knife for trimming large caps of fat and cubing up the big meat clods I buy. This knife is perfect for the job, the curved blade makes it super easy to trim off large caps of fat and seperate muscles. The size might be a little intimidating at first but the knife is very light and even is good for semi precision work, I have used the knife for 3 hours straight before with little fatigue. For the price and performance I have and will continue to recomend to anybody any of the Mundial knives. I also own the 12inch slicer, 6inch curved boning knife, and 2 8inch chefs knives and love them all and love the price.

Wusthof Classic Ikon Serrated Bread Knife

Wusthof Classic Ikon 9-Inch Bread Knife, BlackWe make our own bread every week, so this gets a lot of use.

We've used several lesser bread knives over the years, but were never quite satisfied. We've been very happy with our other ikon series knives, so decided to give it a go.

It took 4 order attempts (we kept recieving the 8") and two years before we finally got our hands on the 9" ikon. I'm glad we held out. That extra inch really makes it easier to slice. The 8" knives force you to make smaller strokes which makes it more difficult to get nice, straight cuts. This thing is very easy to handle and makes a very smooth, straight cut.

Bought this as a Christmas present and decided i needed one myself. The 9-inch is just the right size for all types of bread. I use it to cut tomatoes, too, sometimes. I've had it for over a year and it is just as sharp as it was when I received it. I highly recommend it.

Global G-668/16 - Knife Roll with Handle and 16 Pockets

Global G-668/16 - Knife Roll with Handle and 16 PocketsFor it to be a Global product I was kind of disappointed. The fabric/material the roll was made of was great. The design works in theory. However, where it fails is its knife pockets. The pockets are way too small and close together. Keeping the knives bunched up. Overall its fine, but not worth the high cost.

This is a very good bag. Very sturdy and resistant. It has 16 pockets varying in size. The only problem is it is far from being a bag that you can quickly reach into and grab a knife. It folds out into a 2'x 2' square. You then unzip the protective cover and fold that over. This leaves you with the need to have an area of 2'x 4' unless you allow the flap to hang over the edge of the table. All of this just to grab one knife. If you are working in a tight kitchen you should make sure to take out all the knives you will need at once.

I love this case. It's sturdy with plenty of room and slots for pens, business cards, bothers along with a mesh pocket for peelers, small offsets, spoons and anything else under 7 inches. The only reason why this case doesn't get a five is that the mesh pocket doesn't have a velcro closure like my Wustof case did. Excellent case and in my opinion much better than the Wustofs.

I ordered this set because of the design and was not disappointed. Be aware, they are not restaurant quality or dinner party quality. They are relatively lightweight and suitable for casual, everyday use. Unfortunately, a spot of tarnish was noticed between the tines on a dinner fork before it even made it into the utensil draw!

Manage your expectations with this set of flatware (18/0 stainless is a lower to mid-range quality, anyway); and purchase a higher quality set for good company (18/10 stainless)!

For the price, these are great. Obviously these are not your swanky silverware that you bring out when dining with the president but they'll do just fine for the in laws. They have a weird texture to them and feel pretty light/cheap. Probably because they are. But like I said, if you just need a few extra sets and don't want to spend a lot, these are for you. Thanks

John Boos 9-Inch Square Maple Edge Grain Chopping Block with Feet

John Boos 9-Inch Square Maple Edge Grain Chopping Block with FeetI wanted a good solid cutting board that wasn't to big. This was just what I wanted. It is just the right size for my counter and even though I have a black, white and red kitchen with granite, this board looks great.

Chef'n Flexicado Flexible Avocado Slicer

Chef'n Flexicado Flexible Avocado Slicer with Plastic BladesThis item was actually a gift for my mother but I have had the opportunity to use it a couple of times, and it is awesome!!

Now, I know what some of you are thinking, "How hard is it to slice an avocado, really?" I know! I thought the same thing before I used this tool. This is a great little tool by Chef'n, that perfectly slices nine thin uniform slices of avocado for you and also cuts it away from the skin as it does so!! How cool is that? Definitely worth a buy if you value thin uniform slices that make a nice presentation or if you are slicing a bunch of avocado for salads and burgers all summer long... zip, zip, zip, All done!!

The only thing I would recommend is, contrary to the instructions, start slicing your avocados from the narrower/smaller end. The handle is quite stiff so this makes it easier on you and it lets the tool do all the work. So basically, you squeeze the handle, insert into the avocado and then drag it through, allowing the handle to open up as you go along. Voila!! Perfect slices. Really nice tool from Chef'n!! I also highly recommend their VeggiChop manual food processor, which I did buy for myself, and is so great to be able to process small amounts without all the noise of an electric.

This is the worst kitchen gadget I have ever used. I thought this would be really cool, but I was wrong. I used a wire version once and liked it, and I felt like a total retard for wasting my money on this plastic POS. This will mash your avocados instead of slice them, then you'll work twice as hard trying to clean the darned thing. Just use a knife, or if you must have a gadget try the wire one. I thought about giving this away or putting it in the box destined for charity, then decided to throw it in the garbage instead in order to save somebody else from having a frustrating time using it.

Buy Chef'n Flexicado Flexible Avocado Slicer Now

I used an avocado smaller than the tool, so I had to uncomfortably squeeze the tool until it'd fit. Then it kind of smooshed my avocado into slices that were not attractive, while leaving a layer of unused avocado in the shell.

It made me realize that it's not *that* hard to slice an avocado with a paring knife... oh well.

This product is great! There is a bit of a learning curve to use it most efficiently, but once you get the hang of it you can fly through a bag off avocados in no time. the best part is the ability to be able to squeeze the sides and make it smaller to adjust for the size of your avocado.

Want Chef'n Flexicado Flexible Avocado Slicer Discount?

I absolutely loved this gadget as soon as I got it. You're not going to get it right on your first avocado, but once you figure it out, you'll have perfect slices every time.

You must squeeze it to the size of your avocado, then scoop really deep to get all the flesh.

I use this even when I want to mash my avocado, because it works better than a spoon to get everything out. If I do miss some, I just go back and scoop some more.

I took away a star because if you don't wash it immediately, it's very hard to clean and it just gets more and more nasty over time. Mine is badly discolored now. (I eat a lot of avocados.) This hasn't affected the performance, though.

YOSHIHIRO - Japanese Blue steel Kuro Uchi 2PC SET chef knife Santoku & Petty - MADE IN JAPAN

YOSHIHIRO - Japanese Blue steel Kuro Uchi 2PC SET chef knife Santoku & Petty - MADE IN JAPANI am a professional chef (sushi) and really can recommend all of yoshihiro's products. Priced so much better than Suisin or Masamoto but with a similar level of quality.

I bought these for home use and I am quite pleased. Sharp out of the box, definitely recommend whetstoning any new knife though. The blade road is nice and clean. The black surfaces do have some minor imperfections such as scratching or pitting but this is to be expected with this style of steel.

Both knives are light and well balanced.

Messermeister San Moritz Elite 8-Inch Carving Knife

Messermeister San Moritz Elite 8-Inch Carving KnifeMessermesister is one of the "hidden" knife makers. They produce knives much in a similar vein to Henkle, and Wusthoff (sp?). However, they are less expensive and not only that, they are IMHO better. Henkle et al. while good knifes have changed their forging processes in order to keep up with their relatively new popularity. Messermeister since they haven't gone to such a mass volume manufacturing model is able to keep with their original forging methods keeping the high quality that the others have lost.

Linden Sweden Cutting Board

Linden Sweden Daloplast Anita Bar Board, Small, PurpleI was a bit disappointed when I received this. It is flimsy and knife marks on it began to show immediately. Then, when shopping at my local grocery store, I spotted the same size board pretty colors as well for $1.50 less and it was much nicer. I am using it, but wouldn't recommend it for the price.

Just what I was looking for. I used to get the Pampered Chef (PC)small cutting boards when my niece was a PC consultant but since she quit I just hadn't gotten around to find a new consultant. I order these (I got three of them) and I like them better than the PPC cutting boards. They don't seem to get cut marks in them as easily. Easy to keep clean. Dishwasher safe. And they don't move around on the countertop (the PC ones did slide around which was akward). I highly recommend these.

World Kitchen/Ekco 102SP Chicago Cutlery 3'' Parer And Boning KnifeThis company is NOT honest.

The knife pictured on the webpage had the name and model number on the side of the knife. This is required to match our set. The company shipped a knife that does not have the name and model on the side so of course it will not match our set. The knife they shipped is in a package marked Chicago Cutlery but its workmanship is poor and it looks cheap.

I sent an email to the company asking if they could/would send the knife as pictured. They have not responded. That was many days ago.

Know you will be dealing with a company that is not interested in responding to problems

This knife is so valuable to me that I always have at least one unused and hidden away to pull out when the one I'm using disappears. Who knows where knives go--in the case of this one, probably into the pocket of some family member who suddenly realizes how great it is!

Wusthof Classic 7-Piece Block Set

Wusthof Classic 7-Piece Block SetI wanted to replace my cheap generic Walmart knife set that I've been using for years so I ordered this 7-piece set. I placed the order on January 8th and received them on January 12th, which was great. I got everything I ordered in one box, and it was packaged well. I've read almost every review on these knives (Wusthof, in general) and noticed some people saying the packaging said they were made in China. That definitely wasn't the case with these. All the boxes said Made In Solingen Germany and the knives themselves say Solingen, Germany on the blade. Also, the red emblem on the knives in the picture are in fact just stickers, which I read in another review. I was slightly bummed about that, cause it looks nice, but I could care less about it after using them!

These knives are sharp! I took them out of the box and did the paper cutting test. All the knives sliced right through a sheet of printer paper from bottom to top, without a snag...even the bread knife! So far I've only used them a few times for actual food preparation. I used the 8" chefs knife to chop garlic, onions, and a bell pepper. It cut through all these with little effort, and made beautiful, clean cuts. The chef's knife is amazing! I used the small paring knife to core the bell pepper and make finely sliced strips. This paring knife is awesome! The chefs knife works just as well, but for smaller, thinner cuts, the paring knife is great to have. I used the bread knife to slice up some bread sticks, which it did without squishing the bread even a little bit. I couldn't find a legitimate use for the scissors, so I tried them out on the day-old breadsticks, right out of the fridge. Sure enough, it was like cutting through a marshmallow! The scissors also come apart easily for cleaning and are very sturdy during use.

Overall the knives feel great in your hand. They are solid and well balanced. They don't feel too big or too small. I am a guy, and just for your reference, the distance from the center of my palm to the tip on my index finger in about 5-1/2 inches. So if you're somewhere around there, you should be fine. Also, if you know how to properly hold a knife(YouTube it if you're not sure), I think you'll find that you'll have plenty of control with all these knives.

So the few bad reviews these knives get all seem to be about two things. Some complaints have been that the handles crack and corrode. Most likely thats because they put them in the dishwasher. You really should discount those reviews. Unless, of course, you plan to do the same. The manufacturer tells you to hand wash them for a reason. The second biggest complaint is that they don't stay sharp. Were my knives still just as sharp after I used them? Honestly, no they weren't. I tried to cut through paper after my first full use, and it snagged in the area of the blade that got the most use. But this isn't a problem. I used the honing steel(comes with the set) and after 5 passes on each side of the blade, they were razor sharp again.

I've done a lot of research on these knives and several other top end brands, before purchasing. Every knife maker will tell you that you need to hone your knives before or after each use. That doesn't mean they are cheap. The carbon steel in these knives is sharpened to such a fine point that they WILL dull. Thats why all knife sets come with a honing steel. Its the same reason why a razor blade dulls after a few shaves, and thats just cutting hair. Your knives will be hitting a cutting board every chop. You really cant expect metal this thin to stay razor sharp forever. Besides, using the honing steel is fun and makes you feel like a pro. If you're concerned about having to use the honing steel every use or possibly having to sharpen your knives, just do a little research and you'll see its a pretty simple task.

Obviously I feel pretty strongly about these knives, and I realize I've only had them a short time. Im sure there are other great knives out there, but you're probably looking at these for the same reasons I did. Upgrading your current knives, price, and the ability to add more knives to your set later. And for the price and quality, I think this was a fantastic deal. Feel free to comment or ask a question. Thanks

I've handled wustof knives before this purchase. The knives feel great to hold and use. The weight of the knives is what really differentiates it from others.

Superior quality at a great price!

Shun Ken Onion Chef's Knife

Ken Onion by Shun DM0500 8-Inch Chef's KnifeI got this knife as a kind of impulsive indulgence, I think it looked cool in its own holder and I had heard good things about Shun knives. However, all those good things are true. It is by far the sharpest knife I've owned, and I've got Henckel Zwillings (not the cheapo kind you get at Target) that have been sharpened to what I USED to think was the sharpest blade around.

I'm not dissing the Henckels if I had not indulged in the Shun I would have been very happy with their performance. But I did get a chance to make some observations on how the Shun shone (no, it's not the same "u" as in "Sun" but it's a borderline pun):

Ripe tomato: The Shun needed no sawing action whatsoever. It cut the initial waxy and soft skin like it was being dipped in water. All my other knives need to break the skin either with pressure, angle, or a teensy bit of sawing motion

Dish brush: While cleaning the blade side with a circular motion in sudsy water (safe for sharp knives) I found bits of the brush bristles in the water. Anything that touched the sharp edge was cut, and that has never happened with the best knife I'd had prior to that. I can normally touch a sharp blade without cutting myself, I am not going to try that with the Shun.

Tortilla stack: I make chips out of 8" flour tortillas by taking a thick stack and chopping it into diamonds or strips, then frying. I've always had to get over the knife and press it in because the multiple layers (20) would slow down the blade. Or I'd work in batches of 6-8. With this knife, I cut the whole 20-thick stack with less pressure than I've used for half that many.

Potato while hardly a test for a knife (anything cuts potato) the slicing was awesome. After cutting into the potato, it felt like the Shun DREW the potato into itself and the potato came apart like it was already sliced. If you've ever held a potato in your hand and expected to re-position your hand after you're halfway through, DON'T do it with this knife. It will be cutting into your hand before you even realize it.

If anything got close to cutting like a lightsaber, this would be it. I kid you not. I wonder how long the sharpness lasts, but I'm enjoying it while it's there.

About the Ken Onion design those used to the generous handle on Henckels might find the handle appearing to be a bit short (I have big hands) but that's until you find the thumb and forefinger position that fits almost over the blade. However, once you hold it, you realize it gives you an added cutting advantage. My only complaint is that the advantage is wasted. You'd have to wait till the blade goes blunt before the handle's design can actually help you cut better.

Did I mention I'm extremely happy with it? Happy indulging.

I own more than 100 knives made by most well known manufacturers of fine cutlery. I have a masters degree in food science and I worked my way through grad school as a butcher and instructor of meat cutting and meat processing at a major University. This is the finest knife I have ever owned. It is so fun to use I think up things to do with it as entertainment. Take it from an "expert" this knife cannot be beat. Read the other positive reviews. I have given this knife to my brother and my son (both are gourmet cooks) and they love it as well. Spend the money and have a ball. I have no use for a reviewer who holds a knife in a store and writes a negative one star review.

Buy Shun Ken Onion Chef's Knife Now

I have a whole set of these blades, so I'm breaking down my review to two parts: Review of the Shun Classic Blades, and the portion as it pertains to this knife in particular.

I absolutely love this knife and it's my main work horse knife. The 8" blade is perfect size for everyday uses for chopping, dicing, smashing garlic, etc.. In my daily cooking, I reach for this knife first, and may pair it up with the Paring Knife for smaller tasks. I love the look and feel of this knife, I love that it's so unique and beautiful, I love that it comes with it's own bamboo stand for disply when not in use. I don't hold this knife only by the handle though, I wrap my hand around the handle and base of the blade to give me a very steady hand. Many chefs do this with regular knives and that's where I got the idea from, it allows more control and steadiness (you really feel this when you're using the larger knives). I'm right handed and do rest my left hand on the curve on top of the blade to steady and control rocking motion when dicing. I found that it's very ergonomical and seemed to be designed just for me. I have absolutely no complaints about this knife, I wish they made more like it.

Shun knives are beautiful creations period. Since I'm Asian, I love the tradition look and feel of this Japanese knife. I love the beauty of the blade and the dark, polished, Pakkawood handle. The unique "D"-shaped, Wood handles are preferable. The shape fits my hand perfectly, and the wood does not get slippery when wet providing a very secure hold. The steel is of utmost quality and sharpness. Do not put this blade into any old electric knife sharpener! Electric knife sharpeners are made to put one angle on any blade. These blades come with a 16 degree angle and you don't want to be changing that angle. There are electric knife sharpeners that can sharpen these knives, but you'll have to do some research and find out which ones can be a fit with these knives. I prefer to hone with a sharpening steel and manually sharpen with a stone if necessary (and I don't see it being necessary to touch it to a stone any time soon). The blade is sharp straight off the factory and as Alton Brown says it's the sharpest straight out of the factory edge as he's ever seen.

These knives are more expensive than most, but I think it's definitely worth it. To have the sharpest, most beautiful knife around it's no contest. If you are on a budget, build your collection slowly. It's been said that there are only 3 knives that are the absolute basics for any kitchen: A 8" Chef's Knife, a Paring Knife, and a Long Serrated blade for cutting bread and larger items. I would add a thin utility knife and a boning knife to that list next. Then I would add those "in-between" sizes as I get more money flow in. =)

If you plan on spending any time in the kitchen, good kitchen knives are a definite must. Preparation is the bulk of cooking and when you have good knives, it cuts down on the danger of cutting yourself, it adds pleasure to the work, and it cuts down on prep time. Knives are also a very personal choice and it's best to at least go to a store and try it out for yourself first. Shun Knives are designed by the Japanese, so remember it's designed for small hands. This makes it fit most women's hands perfectly, but I've heard of guys with larger hands not like it so much and going back to the German knives. So definitely try it out. It's a personal thing, it needs to fit you.

Why spend so much money on a knife? Well, if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and you almost always have to bust out a knife to prep a meal from scratch why not use the best? Why spend that time with items that you love and brings you pleasure to use? Many times, it's the small things that brings us the most pleasure in life, and I consider my Shun knives as one of those things. Having something so beautiful and yet so sharp and perfect it makes my time cooking just that much more enjoyable.

Shun makes the best knives I've ever owned, bar none. They all come with a razor edge and are easy to re-hone with just a few strokes on the Kershaw-Shun steel (well worth purchasing to accompany this knife). It was scary sharp right out of the box. The damascus pattern and perfectly crafted profile slice through darn near anything (food-like anyway) with ease. This one took me a bit to get used to, but after a few tries I've come to really appreciate the ergonomic design. The stand is kind of nice too. The weight, balance, and shape of this knife are perfect for chopping (and heavy slicing). It rocks much better than the "classic" chef's knife design. The only downside is that it tore the heck out of my bamboo cutting board so I had to replace it with an end-grain, hardwood one. I've had it for just under six months and use it just about every day. It has proven to be a great chef's knife, one that really holds up to heavy use and abuse.

I received this knife for Christmas and recently broke it while doing a straight-down cut through cheese that was frozen in the middle.

The lead customer service rep at Shun, named Brittany, said "This is not a chef's knife it is ONLY for cutting fruits and vegetables. Not meats or anything else." Thus, they will not honor the lifetime warranty on the knife.

I'm extremely unimpressed and will not buy another Shun knife again, and although it was nice for the 3 months it lasted it doesn't seem to be as hardy as a true chef's knife.

Joseph Joseph 12 by 16-Inch Worktop Saver with Black Design

Joseph Joseph 12 by 16-Inch Worktop Saver with Black DesignI've used this as a trivet, a serving piece and for rolling out dough. I would not use this or any hardened product as a cutting board for sharp knives. Slicing or chopping on a glass surface will blunt the knife's edge on every contact. Use a wood cutting board for knives. Hot water, soap and the wood's natural antibiotic properties will keep harmful bacteria at bay.

I placed a pan out of the oven on this heat resistant to 536 degree worktop saver. The worktop saver literally just exploded in hundreds of pieces all over my kitchen. I reported the incident to Amazon who immediately refunded my money. I do not recommend this product if you are going to use it for hot pans or pots.

This is a very nice top. I have it under my microwave and it sets off the 'wave' very nicely.

While this cutting board is sanitary, it is very shiny and overhead lights reflect off of it and bother your eyes. It also makes noise when you cut on it with your knife. I had a clear glass one and wanted a black one that would blend in better with my dark granite counters. After having it just a few weeks, I decided not to even use it anymore. I really wish that it had been made similar to the clear one which had a consistent overall textured pattern. This black one has a lot of little lines that form a pattern that somehow ends up reflecting light in several large vertical lines. The photo actually depicts this but I unfortunately didn't understand what it would be like when I purchased it.

West Bend Can Opener Stainless Steel, 60-Watt

West Bend Can Opener Stainless Steel, 60-WattThis opener works with a strong motor which allows even the largest can to ripped open with ease. The cutting unit is easily removed, and has a cleverly designed knob on the back of it which allows for an easy and mistake proof re-insertion. It doesn't "pop" when the can is done cutting, so no splash back. Solid construction with a great value.

Had to return this can opener because it would jam while opening certain cans. Very disappointing because the unit seems well made and has nice styling.

I checked the ratings for this and it rated very high. I'm not sure why. It is mediocre at best. Like most I've had, it doesn't always do what it's supposed to and the cutter assembly likes to fall off when removing the can. I will continue to look for a GREAT can opener.

Easy to use and works as described. Not much else to say about a can opener, it just works like I wanted it to.
