Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton 14-Piece Knife Block Set
These knives are perfectly balanced and blades are tough by light. They will help keep you from being a Donkey in the kitchen, these are Chefs knives after all. Brilliant set. Ordered the carving knife and fork to complete this beautiful set. Oh, the steak knifes are great too. Happy to have this set in our kitchen.11.5" Aluminum Magna Bar
I purchased one of these at a local kitchen store. To mount it to the wall you must remove the endcaps and anchor one of them to the wall. You must then place an anchor on the other side and slide the endcaps together. This is not only difficult to do but makes it almost impossible to get a secure fit. This product is very poorly designed. I returned it for a refund.First I have to take a moment to say why you want a magnetic knife holder and why you definitely don't want a block. In a word: hygiene.Dirt, moisture, and other undesirable elements creep into those cozy crevices in your knife block. This makes your knives unsanitary and can even damage the blades by promoting rust or other corrosion. In addition, as another reviewer so aptly pointed out, running your blades into and out of the block slots will invariably wear out the edge.
With a magnetic strip, you can avoid all of the issues of the block while also showcasing the beautiful blades you love so much. A mag strip filled with glimmering steel is truly a sight to behold!
Now, let's talk about this strip specifically...
First and foremost, the magnet strength is perfect. The knives are firmly held to the strip with zero chance of falling or coming off by accident. On the other hand, removing the blade requires minimal effort on your part. You needn't be the least bit concerned about bending or breaking your blade as the strip will release it to you easily upon request.
A quick word about installation: it's tricky. As another reviewer mentioned, to install the strip you must remove the two black end caps, screw them to the wall and then slide the caps back into the strip while holding the strip to the wall. I agree wholeheartedly that the mounting method could have been designed a lot better, but I am not all that mechanically inclined and I managed to get a nice firm mounting in about 10-15 minutes of total installation time. (If you're mounting to drywall make absolutely sure you use anchors!)
In the six months or so I've had it installed I haven't once encountered any wiggling, wobbling, or loose fitthe thing holds to the wall extremely well.
If I had to buy again, I would probably look for something with easier installation but I am nonetheless happy with the one I own.

I put this on the side of my cabinet above my sink and it looks great and is quite functional. It keeps my knives clean and sharp, and looks really sleek. I was unable to find anything else that looked good which was short enough for the side of an upper cabinet.Read Best Reviews of 11.5" Aluminum Magna Bar Here
I was using a utensil tray in a kitchen drawer. It's so much more convenient -and sanitary-to have the knives hanging at your fingertips on the wall. Also better for keeping the blades sharp. The magnet in the bar is very strong. I wasn't 100% thrilled with the mounting system, and the bar does tend to wobble a little if I pull a knife off too quickly. I think if you are able to install it into the side of a wooden cabinet (my original plan, but ended up not having quite enough room) you won't have any problem with wiggling.Such a better way to store knives! Also fits other miscellaneous metal items. Make sure to wash/dry good knives before hanging them up.
OXO Good Grips Corn Holders
These are strong, sturdy corn grips that are durable and extremely comfortable to hold. The two steel prongs grip the corn firmly and do not slip or slide while in use. The holders are comfortable to hold no matter how hard you grip them and are suitable for use by the smallest hands, as well as the largest ones. They wash well and look new, no matter how many times one uses them. These corn grips are a very good value for the price.Okay, if there's one thing we know in this area besides great pizza, its corn. I KNOW that corn grips aren't on most people's top priority list for kitchen gadgets, but if you're gonna buy 'em, buy the best! Ever dropped your cob because of all that delicious butter all over your hands? Add a couple of Good Grips handles to it, and problem solved! One hint those prongs are REALLY sharp. Stick them in a measuring cup or something to store. Once you stick your hand in your gadget drawer and get jabbed by one of those things, you'll never want it to happen again! Enjoy that corn!Buy OXO Good Grips Corn Holders Now
To my knowledge, there are two sets of Oxo corn holders -the regular "Good Grips" and the "Steel" lines. The ones I ordered from this page and received from Amazon were the "Good Grips" and they are black and yellow, like a large bumblebee(28381), the photo here is old. The "Steel" ones are black and stainless steel and cost almost twice as much(1050061). They both are great... large and sturdy and I'm satisfied with my Bumble Bees for $6.00. Good product just be aware there are 2 sets and Amazon's set up is a bit confusing. By the way, I store them in a used wine cork in the drawer as they are indeed sharp.I've always found that Oxo brand products for the kitchen are top notch, and these corn holders are no exception. I was surprised to see that they are even heftier than I'd expected. The size ensures it's easy for anyone to hold whether that be children, men with large hands, or even people who suffer from arthritis or other hand problems. And the rubber gripping makes hanging onto the holders easy even with buttery fingers. One of the more ingenious parts is the length of the prongs; Oxo had the common sense to make one prong longer than the other to ensure that both prongs come in contact with the peaked shape of the ear of corn. I highly recommend these!I love these corn holders . Especially great for little ones hands. But I also use it for something else. And that is apples, when I peel the apple I put the holders on the ends and give it to my 3 year old . No more sticky hands. And she does know not to throw them away!Ginsu Essential Series 10-Piece Stainless Steel Knife Set with Triple Riveted Polymer Handles and N
I bought these knives for like 20$ when I first got my new apartment and had no complaints about them. Lately, after dishwashing I have noticed a few spots and stuff but thats my fault because your not supposed to dishwash them. An example of how sharp these knives are, the other day I was taking my dishes to the sink and the knife fell off the plate, bounced on the carpet, and then fell tip-upward toward mytoes. It slid between my large toe and the one next to it, and it didnt hurt much but a moment later I felt wetness between my toes and had a surprisingly deep gouge. I put a bandaid on it for a few days and it was fine, but I was surprised at how the blade managed to cut me with such little momentum. They are pretty sharp! Had them for about 4 months and think this was a great alternatives to a knife set running 100$ and upward, which I had almost bought, but then reconsidered and tried these instead and I'm glad I did.Edit: It's been at least six months, and the knives are great, except for one of the big ones that I rarely use. I usually just use the smaller ones, and it looks like this larger one had developed some rust spots. I can probably scrum them out, but I think I had probably used it and hand-washed it and put it back in the knife block without wiping off the water, and that's how it got rust stains. I usually dishwash them and none of the other knives have any spots or stains like that. Other than that one thing, they are still a great value, just wipe any extra cindensation off of them before placing in the block.I was looking for a reasonably priced set of kitchen knives, and the Ginsu Essentials 10 piece set stood out as being just what I had in mind. I particularly like the handles. They are sturdy and easy to grip. The blades are strong and serviceable, although I would prefer finer serrations on the cutting edges for certain tasks such as cutting through watermelon rind. Be warned, the points on the steak knives are extremely sharp. Finally, I would mention that the hardwood Block is attractive and functional if your counter space is adequate.Nice middling set, not too many pieces, not too few. Shears are great for every day use (I have a nicer one for food prep). Knife handles are a bit small, but my wife and I are small, so there you go. They work.
No problems with rust, but, then again, I wash and dry with each use so I don't see it as a problem.
Blades are great, cut cleanly, effortlessly.
All in all a nice set for the price.
Update Have to take back what I said about the shears. The hinge is WAY too flexible (plastic on plastic). They make a decent, general purpose, light duty, household shear, but not a whole lot better than a plain set of scissors. Scissors might be better, actually. Knives are doing great. As I said, I wash and dry them as I use them. Or shortly there after, so no rust. This set of knifes was a Christmas gift for my husbands parents (we had already given a set to my parents) This is a GREAT set of knifes, we purchased us a set and knew we had to get our parents a set, we often talk about how dull our knifes are! They cut so well you will think your stake is Tender even if it is tough like cutting BUTTER!!!!! For the price I will and have recommended This knife set!!!!i bought these thinking they were ginsu so they were quality and they are jusnk it says dishwasher safe i put 2 in the dishwasher and they came out covered in rust!!!! the handles are sturdy and light wieght but i have had that less then a month and all but one knife has rusted and 1 broke while cutting a potato so please dont waste your money on these

Oneida Marquette 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1
After using my previous stainless steel flatware for more than 30 years, I decided it was time for a change. This flatware is everything I hoped it would be. Beautiful, versatile and practical. I did follow the manufacturer's directions and changed my dishwasher powder from lemon-based to regular to avoid spotting and discoloration, but if I follow the manufacturer's instructions, this flatware should look good for many years to come.As icing on the cake, so to speak, I hunted around (both at stores and online) to get the best price for this beautiful flatware. I found the best price on Amazon.com.I ordered two place settings to supplement the settings my wife and I received 25 years ago as wedding gifts. I was not sure that the new settings would exactly match what we had. Amazingly, they matched exactly except for the new shine. Twenty-five years and 6 kids later our everyday old place settings have been going strong without any sign of wear and tear. The new settings look and feel that they can also go the distance as well. I highly recommend these Oneida products.

Like another member, we received this set as a wedding gift (also in 1988) and need some replacement pieces. We have enjoyed their timeless elegance and will buy several more sets to keep our collection up. We love the look and the quality is fantastic. I put almost EVERYTHING in the dishwasher and these pretties have held up against the test of time and even getting caught in the disposal a time or two oops! (It's the spoons...they sneak down the drain when nobody's lookin'!) This will actually be the second time I've added to our set. The new silver will look 'newer' (duh) for a while, but it doesn't take long until their extra shine can't be told apart from the original pieces.Read Best Reviews of Oneida Marquette 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 Here
This was purchased to augment our existing sets for Thanksgiving. The prios sets are 15 years old and have held up amazingly well but, this new set is just that tiny bit more shiny and new. Quick delivery, much better price than the department stores, and this set is a staple in inventory if you wish to add (much) later. Excellent purchase.Want Oneida Marquette 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 Discount?

Just used these for my wedding, and I wasn't sure what to expect in the box. I'm very impressed! The pieces look amazing and gorgeous. I think I was expecting something rough and scratched up/thrown together, but the engraving and finish are smooth and lovely!! I'm so glad I got these because they also look great in the cake cutting photos. Really worth the price! They're classy and not gaudy at all.Nice set, I only hated that I was not given the option of having them engraved...It would have been a plus if engraving was offered.Buy Hortense B. I needed something that would allow me to take multiple kitchen sized knives to outdoor barbeque competitions. I have a set of knives that include a 12" slicer and a 13" steel. I needed to be able to keep my knives clean and protected from the outdoors, and be compact when not in use as space is a premium at these events. This roll is exactly as it looks. LOTS of room for even more than I carry, and a very rugged, tough exterior. Stitching seems to be tough, and the fabric is nice and thick. Fully loaded with knives, it rolls down to about 5 inches in diameter, and has both a handle and shoulder strap. The slots hold the knives firmly with enough of the handle sticking out that you can grab one without having to grasp the blade, and while they are snug and won't fall out, I found that you could pull a knife with two fingers.
If you need to bring a knife set with you for whatever reason, I've never seen a better way to carry them for the price, or even at 3 times the price. I have a few outdoor cooking friends that will be getting this knife roll as a present this year.great buy for the price. I wish it had a pocket somewhere in it, but besides that great.

The Cronidur steel used by Zwilling to make this line of knives is very hard and will hold its sharpness far longer than most. The knives will also stay beautiful as the steel is almost totally resistant to corrosion. The knife itself is a gem -very sharp and stays sharp. The ergonomic shape used to connect the handle to the blade is remarkably comfortable even for long sessions. I prefer the 4" length but I've seen a 3" sold elsewhere. This knife is also simply a pleasure to use. Highly recommended.I have several other knives from this product line and they are all beautifully packaged and feel wonderful in your hand. I cook and bake a lot and have arthritis and fibromyalgia so sometimes prep work is difficult for me. These knives are so well balanced and a pleasure to use -the expense is well worth it and this price is at least $40-100+ less than I've seen them anywhere else. You will have this knife for your lifetime and pass it on to the next generation as well. The shape and balance of this knife makes it feel right in my hand. The blade holds an edge amazingly well.
Yamazaki Oslo 5-Piece Place Setting
This is beautiful, high-quality stainless from Yamazaki. I have received many compliments on it. It is versatile for many types of dinnerware. It is above-average for weight but a medium size so it is nice for small hands as well as adults. The round bowl spoons are great for anything you might eat with a spoon.Chicago Cutlery Centurion 7.5-Inch Bread Knife
I previously purchased the Chicago Cutlery 8 inch Chef's knife and was so impressed with the quality for the money I bought this knife. When it arrived, I noticed the same quality as the Chef's knife but also an unexpected bonus of a plastic blade cover included with this one. I wish my Chef's knife had come with one of these.I bake bread and this knife works perfectly to slice cleanly through it without shredding. It has a full tang blade, and feels good in my hand. I think these knives are an excellent value. I would recommend them and I would buy them again.Sabatier 7 Inch Stainless Steel Santoku Knife
This knife arrived sharp at the first inch after the haft, and dull for the remaining length of the blade. My husband, who is very adept at honing knives to sharpness, spent about an hour trying to get a sharp edge on this knife, using his whetstone. He believes it is made of inferior steel. It was moderately sharp after that would cut through bell peppers and onions OK but the sharpness diminished within a few days. Buy a better knife.Victorinox 49002 Handheld Manual Knife Sharpener
Searched this out because I saw it recommended on America's Test Kitchen as the "Best" bang for the buck. Got the Victorinox chef's knife to go with it and the team is the best investment I've made for my kitchen in many years. A few quick swipes each time I chop or carve and it's like slicing butter. And I thought Cutco knives were so amazing. HA! Order, delivery, etc., were quick and easy. Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Let me start my review by saying this product is a almost exact copy of the AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener which sells for about half the cost. After sharpening identical knives with both products and doing edge sharpness tests and comparing under a microscope I can confirm they produce indistinguishable results. So without further ado on to the results. The Accusharp and Victorinox 49002 both work by having fixed tungsten carbide blades you draw the knife through. They essentially rip away a layer of metal at a fixed angle. After a few strokes you can visibly see removed metal. The amount of metal removed is a long term concern with repeated use, unless you like to replace your knives on a regular basis. Edge sharpness tests show good fist level sharpness (ie will bit into your thumbnail) but poor second level sharpness (ie will not shave arm hair). Closer examination under a microscope shows jagged metal fragments on the edge of the blade and jagged pitting on the edge. This type of pattern essentially turns your blade into a serrated blade where the serrations will quickly break off leading to need for re-sharpening. Sharpening in this fashion will result in greatly reduced edge retention.
This product will essentially take a blade that is so dull it has no edge and quickly remove a lot of material producing a very rough edge. It is small and easy to use. Because of its ease of use and ability to put a edge on a knife quickly it has gotten rave reviews.
I'd like to compare the result to the Tri-Angle Sharpmaker The Sypderco triangle sharpener is less convenient to use, you have to spend about 30 seconds to set it up. It also takes longer to use (it will take probably 3 or 4 dozen strokes to restore an edge). It's also more expensive. However, the results are so much better I have to recommend it as the preferable sharpening system. For one thing it removes far less metal so you knives will last much longer. After following the instructions a good blade is noticeably sharper (good send level sharpness, ie will shave arm hair). Even better though is when you stick the blade under a microscope and see a smooth edge with no pitting or jagged metal fragments hanging off. This is the type of edge that holds up much better in use. Sharper knives, longer lifetime of your knife, and better edge retention. It's worth the extra time.
Still, I'm not throwing away my Accusharp. The triangle sharpmaker is the better sharpener but it takes time if you are putting an edge on a knife that didn't have one instead of restoring an existing edge to full sharpness. So for a knife that hasn't been properly sharpened before I start with the accusharp to save time because I'm lazy and then switch over to the triangle sharpmaker because even though I'm lazy I care about the result.

I work in a meat packing company as a butcher. Have always had trouble keeping my knife sharp, and have tried a lot of sharpeners to use when I dont have time to go to the stone. Since Victorinox is the company that makes the knives we use,to find they make a sharpener too I was thrilled. I ordered 2 of these. intended to have 1 at work and 1 at home. But another guy I work with tried the one I took to work and bought the other one. So I ordered 2 more, one for home and another for my son who works in the meat department in a grocery store.Read Best Reviews of Victorinox 49002 Handheld Manual Knife Sharpener Here
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program As a manual sharpener, this is pretty much a no-brainer. The knife is pulled through the slot with pressure for about 3 times and then again with lighter pressure for 4-6 times to smooth the edge. Visually, I couldn't tell the difference in the blade nor could I feel a difference by touching the edge. But I tried cutting cardboard with the sharpened knives (I used 3 different blades) and they all seem to cut better. Safety wise, this product is pretty good since you hold the blade upward and pull away from yourself so no risk of cutting yourself. It's light and handy and can be easily stored in a drawer. Design-wise, it functions well but doesn't look very pretty.Want Victorinox 49002 Handheld Manual Knife Sharpener Discount?
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program To date I've been using the Edgeware Edge Grip 2 Stage Knife Sharpener to sharpen my Wustof knives so when I received this product that was my point of comparison. Overall it seems to be a pretty solid sharpener and easy to use. You simple rest your knife on the counter with the edge facing up and pull the sharpener from the part of the blade closest to the handle to the tip 2 or so times. The edge I get is pretty comparable to what I'd come to expect with the Edgeware, which is to say it greatly diminishes dullness but doesn't quite match the sharpness when the knives were knew out of the package. Prior to sharpening tomatoes and bell peppers, for example, were a challenge and know these knives cut cleanly through both with ease. Also being lazy I appreciate that should I ever need to wash it, it's dishwasher safe. (Although sharpening knifes it hardly comes in contact with food or liquids that might soil it.)My only gripe about this sharpener (and this is what makes it a 4 star vs. 5 star product for me) is that the directions you get on the back of the package are very brief and clunky in wording. I'm hoping that is because this sharpener makes it fool proof to sharpen your knives. But still since my knifes are expensive and something I view as a long term investment, I'm careful to make sure I'm doing anything that might damage them long term. In inspecting my knives after sharpening the blade didn't seem to have any discernible nicks or damage so at least for now I'll assume it isn't harming the longevity of my knife.
Overall, it's a pretty solid product. I think whether you choose to go with this or another sharpener (like the Edgeware) has a lot to do with personal feel as they are slightly different motions and how well you feel the sharpener does on your individual knives. Overall I've been pretty happy using this on my Wustof knives and it's world's better than trying to get the precise angle with the sharpening rod that came with one of my knife sets.
Wusthof 9655 Grand Prix II 2pc Starter Knife Set
My step father is a chef and has been using the Wusthof Grand Prix-II set for years. The knives really hold an edge and have perfect balance. I know my step father really likes the feel and shape of the handle also. When my step fathers knives where stolen there was no question as to which knives we would replace them with.
A set like this is really nice because these are the two most used knives for chefs and cooks, it really saves on the wallet when you can get both cheaper then they are singly. These knives are my favorite. Everyone will have a knife they like better than others, and if seems like Henkels show up a lot. I prefer these because the blades feel a little better balanced and the handles fit my hand really well. The solid handles of the Grand Prix series don't have the ridges and rivets where crud can get stuck like the Classic line does. Also of note, the only difference between the Grand Prix I and II is the handles: specifically the little ridge at the end of the handle on the I that was smoothed out in the II. I actually prefer the I, but I have small hands. Those with larger hands will probably favor the later version, which is likely why they changed it. To my knowledge, though, everything else about the knives is the same. All in all, great blades. Sharp as razors, and easy to keep sharp with only period use of a steel. This set covers just about everything you'd ever need, though I ultimately complented it with a 4" utility knife as well.

I believe this knife is one of the best knives ever made, we owned one of these for many years and it became our "go to knife", the only reason we bought another was we used our original one for a pry bar and the tip broke (I later reground the front of it and it is now back in service), we have since purchased a larger selection of these knives and they NEVER fail to impress us, be careful with these as they are very sharp and remain so.
