Wüsthof Gourmet 14-Piece Deluxe Knife Block Set
I've owned this knife set for a year now, and I'm 100% satisfied. These Wustof knives are great they keep their edge, they are razor sharp, and they hold up very well to daily usage.I was hesitant to buy the Gourmet set based on reviews here on Amazon and elsewhere. The Gourmet knives are stamped, not forged like the Classics. There are very minor design differences that make the Gourmets look slightly different than the Classics. Otherwise, these knives are exactly like Classics. First, the stickers. The Wustof emblem is a sticker on the handle. The emblem is a sticker on the Classics, too, so if the sticker really bothers you that much, go with a different knife manufacturer. My stickers have not faded, worn, or shown any sign of coming off under heavy usage in one year. Take that as you will. Second, rusting. These are carbon steel knives, people. Steel rusts if you let water sit on it. My knives have not rusted in the least. I hand wash them, wipe them off in one swipe with a paper towel, and air dry after use. Not a spot of rust. If you want to stick these in the dishwasher, or want to let them soak in water, you're going to get rust. Take care of these knives and they're fine.
I give these knives five stars. Unless you really feel you need forged, ground carbon steel Classics for hundreds more, buy these Gourmets.

They are not the top of the line but respectable for a budding gourmet. Proof of their effectiveness can be found underneath the several bandaids I have had to wear since accidentally mishandling the bed knife once and a steak knife once.What a joy to have decent knives to use in the kitchen. It helps to inspire me as a cook.
Great for the price and definitely do not put these in the dishwasher. I am proud to own, even if it is on the lower end of the spectrum, one of the finest knife collections currently on the market.

I did some research and saw that these knives had good reviews. After using them for a few months, I noticed a little rust and the rivets were eroding!!! (I washed these knives by hand only, no dishwasher) I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it for myself. I didn't expect such a good company to have such poor quality. I was very suprised to find out how thin the steel blades were, so thin they bended while I was cutting an apple.The knives got rusted and dull after just a few days of use. I looked throughout the website to find customer servcie number however i could not. Will demand my money back, including shipping cost.

We had originally bought this knife set last Christmas as a gift. I got the chance to use the knives while lending a hand in the kitchen and loved how nicely they cut. Now, eight months later when I needed to replace our knife setit seemed like a no brainer to purchase these. However I am just so disappointed with how dull they are. The chef knife in particular is very dull, even after sharpening the knives, there is little to no improvement. My wrists become sore/achy from having to apply a lot of pressure just to be able to cut through simple items like a bell pepper or onion. Sadly, I do not recommend this knives to anyone.If you are in search of a good and affordable knife set, look into the kitchen aid knife blocks. Sharp knives and great assortment for the right price.

I have bought 3 sets of these(all ordered from the same link) one for myself, one for my sister-in-law and one for my mother-in-law. The knives themselves are excellent! I love themthey are very heavy duty. I have owned my set for a year with no issues, no need for frequent sharpening and no rust spots. The issue that I have is that the picture shows scissors, the picture of the box shows no scissorsbut shows a sharpener rod.My set had neither the scissors or the rod, in fact it had an extra knifewhich I loved. My sister-in-laws has no scissors but has the rod, my mother-in-laws has no rod, but has the scissors. I wanted everyone to have the set that I got originally, but since every else is happy with what they received, I didn't bother to try to exchange. I wish there was some way to tell them when you order, which combo you actually wantor at least make a note telling consumers that there are different configurations.

I started a job at a fish My only quamarket place cutting fish. lms with this knife was that the blade is slightly wider than i would have liked, and just a touch bit more flexible than i would have liked. But this works great for filleting any fish that requires a flexible blade. came out of the box sharp enough to start it on the job, and touches up nicely. It is a bit too flexible to skin any fillets over 5 or so inches because the tip of the blade starts to bow up. but for this price i can't complain! great knife recommended to everyone.Save 17% Off

All 3 compartments are accessible from one zipper, so you don't need 7 sq feet of space to open it all the way & find what you're looking for...the only downside of that is that you're hanging all your hopes on one zipper & if it fails you you're sunk! But it feels strong and secure. Everything from my old Koobi Kit (whose zippers DID fail me) fit neatly inside, so it's roomy....can't wait to get out there and break it in!

I have this case filled all the way up and I have issues closing it. The zipper would bulge and it would not zip right. I also had an issue with one of the teeth on the zipper getting out of place and it would not zip right. I called Messermeister they did replace the case. Classic Nonstick Paring Knife
This is the best knife I've ever had it beats Gerber, Fiskars, and Chicago Cutlery! It slicks right through everything I've used it on so far. It's large enough to cut bigger fruits and veggies but still small enough to easily peel potatoes. Love it!!!
Zwilling J.A. Henckels Bellisimo 42-Piece Flatware Set
I am having a huge love-hate relationship with this tableware. The quality, weight, balance, finish and styling is phenomenal....gorgeous....perfect!Sadly, it just isn't practical. It has to be hand-washed and immediately hand-dried. Otherwise, it spots to a degree of spotting that I've never seen before! Rewashing, even with a lot of scrubbing, doesn't get rid of the spots. The only way to make them spot-free is to use stainless cleanser.
Things are better now. Dentistry came a long way and the aunt doesn't come around anymore. I still take fish oil but only so that I can annoy the kids and make them take it, too. Otherwise they'd never want to grow up. We take our turns, make faces, swallow and say "blaw". I always point out smugly that I actually don't have to take fish oil anymore because I am a grownup. That way our kids will want to get their own kids to have someone to annoy and boss around. Because of such seemingly trivial events the Western civilization may not end abruptly and those of you who don't have kids because you spend all your time reading Amazon consumer reviews will at least have someone else's kids to wheel you around the old folks' home. But I digress.
This silverware would have done it for us kids back then. It has a clean modern design but with a traditional handle shape---just like our comfortable old everyday set---while being nice enough to impress the in-laws over holidays. I tried some of the other Henckels thin-handled sets including those with "standing knives" but I did not like them. It's form over function. If you want your knife to stand on its edge you can always stick it in your food. My mother-in-law gives me "the look" when I do it but I don't want to talk about that right now. These handles have enough shape and mass to hold steady and keep from spinning in your hand but not so much bulk to look like it's an arthritis-friendly design. The knife handles are hollow---there is a straight seam where the blade is attached with a smooth transition so you won't be looking at unidentifiable food sediments in the crease like with our previous knives. The hollow handles give the knives good balance. The forks were designed for forking---I successfully tried them on a boiled potato. The spoons are unusual---a sleek drop-like shape that at first seemed smaller in volume compared to other spoons. They are not---the spoons have enough depth to make up for the missing surface so I won't lag behind during supper on account of a small spoon and I won't get "the look". Of course, unless people brought their own spoons to dinner it would not matter anyway because everyone at the table would have pretty much the same equipment just like in NASCAR. That's also why we decided to buy two sets so we have enough standardized gear for everyone.
The forks and spoons have stamps on the underside that say: J.A. Henckels International 18/10 China. They are letting us know that there is 18% chromium and 10% nickel in the stainless steel and also that we can't pay the Germans to manufacture such things anymore. Not in affluent Solingen, for sure, and impoverished East Germans won't do it for less anymore because it would not be fair and also because they'd lose their welfare checks. Fortunately today's Germans are very sensible people and when they hire the Chinese to make German products they at least make the stamping so small that most people won't see it without glasses and your unionized dinner guests won't berate you over your Chinese silverware. Also, the knives which could give the game away do not have any such compromising stamp and should a guest start scrutinizing the underside of your spoons or forks you can always enliven your dinner conversation by remarking in a nasal tone, "Is there something the matter? Did the kitchen help not polish your fork, Steve?"
I ran the whole set through a dishwasher right after unpacking to see what happens. It came out with the same mineral stains like it does with everything else, including our old silverware. That was reassuring because we are on hard well water and dishes are supposed to look scuzzy after a dishwasher cycle. I put it back in some water, wiped it with a scotch-brite and it came right off. We rarely did it with our old silverware but I'll make the kids polish this new set regularly and I'll always call it "flatware" when I do. That'll give them two more reasons to want to grow up.
This silverware deserves 5 stars even though I was tempted to subtract one for using stuck-up words like "flatware" and for misspelling a common word like "bellissimo".

Item purchased to replace a similar size/style item. For my son, of course it had to be red. This eBags lunch bag is available in several colors (including red) so it fit the bill.The bag is a robust design using quality components. The zippers and zipper pulls are oversized and have pull assists covers on the attached lanyards, to make them easier to grasp and orient by smaller hands. They zip smoothly and do not bind. The shoulder strap is adjustable and of a quality woven nylon that should outlast the bag itself.
The interior of these type bags is where they most often (in our experience) fail, and this bag may follow suit. The insulated interior features an aluminized lining material that appears as durable as other makers, at least for now. Only time will tell if it should become brittle along crease areas and eventually tear allowing moisture leakage into the insulated space between the inner and outer lining. My original impression is that it should do fine under normal use. There is also a small netted pouch on the underside of the lid for securing fragile foods.
This lunch bag is a good size. It easily fits in my son's backback to carry to school, and on days when the pack is full, he can use the strap over his shoulder or around the backpack's extendable handle. So there are lots of carry options.

I am a knife junkie and love buying these when they are on sale. Most from Amazon don't come with any protection once I take them out of the box so these covers are perfect. I have had one of these for more than 20 years and it is far and away the best tool in the drawer for routine knife care. It is capable of putting a new edge on a really abused and dull knife but that isn't its strong point. Knives should never be allowed to get that dull and that is the strong point of this tool. Regular use will keep all your blades in the best possible condition. Highly recommended at any price.
