Furi Rachael Ray 4-Inch Paring Knife with Blade Guard
If you are planning to replace this with one of your pairing knives that came in a furi set, do not order. The quality is not the same and it will not fit in your knife holder that furi supplies. It is ok as a knife on the side to use but not the quality that furi normally puts out. In fact the color is not even the same as it has a slightly off color handle compaired to the sets. Would I order this again. No.I agree with other reviewers that these knives are not of the same quality as the paring knife that comes with the set, but they are also not the same price! For the price, these knives are excellent. They are very sharp and so far have kept their edge. If you are looking for a REALLY good inexpensive knife, this one will fit your needs.Buy Furi Rachael Ray 4-Inch Paring Knife with Blade Guard Now

My husband actually bought me a smaller Kasumi knife as a Christmas gift. It is only about 5" but it has a blade shape of a chef's knife, so a review under this knife seems to be the best fit. And I felt the need to review it since I am so attached--one could even say loyal to it. First of all, I had no idea that these Kasumi knives were so expensive. So I had no bias. We have some decent heavy German (Wusthof) knives that are good quality, so I didn't even understand why my husband bought me a knife. I didn't use it much at first, but slowly over time I started reaching for it. Eventually I noticed it was the only one I reached for. I asked myself why and realized it is because it is strong and sharp, but most of all it is LIGHT and fits my hand so comfortably. I would however like a bigger knife as well, and I'm telling you I am eyeing this one. I wish it weren't so expensive or I would have bought it already!Pretty and functional. Great knife, though did not come as sharp as I was lead to believe.Buy Chroma KTB1 Kasumi 7-3/4-Inch Titanium-Coated Chef's Knife Now
Wusthof Classic 4-1/2-Inch Steak Knife
Firstly, a knife has to cut, or what is it for? These knives take an excellent edge, as is generally true with the forged Wusthof lines. (note, I own about a dozen Wusthof knives, Classic, Gran Prix and Culinar) They easily cut any meat, and as another reviewer noted, they serve well as a utility knife too. It has been my experience that any knife that says "never needs sharpening" is probably a piece of junk. So, yes, once in a while you may need to sharpen your steak knives. Fact is, those cheap serrated knives tear the fibers of the meat, and the moisture quickly runs out, leaving a less succulent steak. It's a trade-off I'm not willing to make. The handle of this model seems just right to me. It's not slender or delicate, feels sturdy, but it's not clunky or awkward. The blade is sturdy, strong and true, and should last a lifetime. As a nice bonus, they look great, elegant and clean.
I must admit, I've never owned a dishwasher, so I've never been tempted to put fine knives in one. If hand-washing your knives is too time consuming for you, then you may not find these your best choice. On the other hand, if you enjoy working with quality tools, and don't mind the extra care that they require, these knives are a pleasure to use and own.As a chef, I put my full faith into Wusthof knives and I love the Wusthof Classic. Although I have at least one or more of Global, Shun, Henckels and Mac knives, my wusthof knives get the most use. To each their own with which knife feels the best in their hand when in use, but I'll swear up and down about the Wusthof Classic handles. These steak knives are lightweight enough to use easily, yet have enough weight that you're unlikely to get careless.
Although these steak knives shouldn't replace a paring knife, they double up as one for the larger fruits/veggies and make slicing an ease.
If you're looking for knives at a low end of expense and don't mind buying new ones in a few years, look elsewhere. If you're looking for great steak knives that will last you a lifetime with numerous uses, look no further! They're worth every dime.

Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1
This is the best silverware I've used. It even stands up to the "eating-out-of-the-carton-of-hard-ice-cream" test without bending. We have had 8 place settings for 9 years and they still look like new (except the one that went down the disposal).Juilliard is the best patten for both casual and fine dinning. It never goes out of style and it matches so well with any decor. It is the price point it is for a reason...worth every penny you pay! Beautiful and great, great quality! I have had this pattern for over 20 years and I just keep adding to it and you can't tell the new pieces from the ones I started with years ago. Unbelievable value!Buy Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 Now
I appreciate the simple elegance of the Juilliard design. It is not too ornate and not too plain, rather, just the right amount of decorative flair. Too, the utensils feel balanced and of a comfortable weight. I purchased the one set to begin with because I wanted to see how I liked the design before buying the four set. I am so glad they still have this pattern. I have had it over 20 years and need some more pieces to replace some that have disappeared over the years. They still look amazing. Nice balance in your hand.Love Cooking Antibacterial Cutting Board
I like the green color. The cutting board was not designed for people who really cut with good knives. It's hard, dulls blades and scores easily, creating nice cut marks to collect debris. The rim edges raise the board about a sixteenth of an inch above the surface it's placed on, thus it flexes when pressure is exerted, preventing a clean cut. I'll continue searching for another resilient white plastic board like the one I thought I was replacing. An inch thick would be nice.CAKE KNIFE/SERVER SET, HEART HANDLE, SILVER PLATED.
Wusthof Classic Bread Board Set
I bake bread a few times a week, and finally decided to upgrade to this bread knife. All I can say is WOW. It slices through crusty loaves effortlessly. The board is a good addition for presenting bread and charcuterie/antipasto. Never thought I would spend so much on a bread knife, and even after I saw this set on sale for cheaper in a store, I'm still glad I bought this.As others pointed out, for some reason it's less expensive to buy this combo than the knife by itself. We wanted a bread knife, but could not warrant paying the price to add to our JA Henckel Pro S collection. This knife looks almost identical to the Pro S knives, was sharp and appears very well made. It is not as heavy as a Henckel, but it is well balanced and will be everything we wanted for a rarely-used (in our house) bread knife. We didn't even card about the little cutting board that comes with it, but it will be handy for light use with french bread or cheese.Buy Wusthof Classic Bread Board Set Now
I have this knife as part of a set of Wustof Classic knives and they are fantastic. I got this one for my Mom on Mother's day and Amazon shipped it out quick. For some reason this particular packaging is cheaper than buying the knife on it's own from other vendors.... Great bread knife. The bread knife worked really great, it sliced through the thick crust of the cranberry walnut whole wheat loaf without any effort! The weight of the knife is just right too. I bought these because they were inexpensive and the design was almost exactly the same as a set that I purchased a number of years ago from JC Penney (and I was down to only 2 forks). I felt pretty confident in this purchase because of the other reviewers' remarks and I figured I could always return them if they were unsatisfactory. They arrived in 5 days, were smooth-edged with a mirror-bright finish, the metal's weight seemed fine, and they matched my current set almost exactly. I'm a very happy, satisfied customer. We needed just forks and spoons for our office kitchen at an inexpensive price, since they go missing after some time. These forks not only look and feel nice, they are a great bargin. When we need to replace lost forks again, I will buy these. I also bought the Hightower teaspoons (12) to go with them. Open Frame Dish Rack with Bamboo Knife Block in Clear
dish rack comes with 4 plastic "knobs" so you can elevate certain corners to get the rack to tilt any way you need. The plastic, metal & wood look amazing. Very modern & sleek with all the functionality.
Because of the open concept of it, I find that my dishes dry quicker. I can also find several ways to fit dishes, I'm not confined to the walls of the dish rack like with many other designs.
The drainage spout on the bottom swivels-I don't have to use the dish rack ONE way.
Wooden block to hold knives puts me at ease! I'm not worried about the sharp edges touching anything when drying.
*I love this product, I am so happy I spent the money on it. I don't have a lot of money to blow on household things, but it's worth the investment. It sits on my counter in plain view everyday & it doesn't take away from the look of my kitchen. There is nothing worse than a beautiful kitchen with a big ugly plastic dish rack sitting in the middle of it.I purchased Open Frame Dishrack Stainless Steel last month. After using the dish rack for a few weeks, we found water leaking from the bottom of the channel waterway where
it is designed to catch the water and drain it to the sink. We though it might be a defective product so we returned it and replaced it with the same Open Frame Dishrack Stainless Steel. However, again....the water leaks from the same waterway section of the new dish rack. I spoke with customer support and they told me that they cannot fix the problem. If you do not want to go through the same hassle, I recommend to purchase another brand.

I have been looking for a great dishrack and this one has met all my expectations. First my sink has a big lip so I need a dishrack with a drain that would go over the lip and after installing the optional feet that came with it this one does. Second all surfaces are tilted toward the drain so no standing water!! Plus it holds a ton of stuff. The knife block is very nice and will fit in most parts of the silverware section. This is replacing a Kitchenaid Dishrack that looked great but was basically flat so there was always standing water that would end up getting slimy. This one is a MUCH better design really love it!!Read Best Reviews of Open Frame Dish Rack with Bamboo Knife Block in Clear Here
I have used this for about 3 months now, no more messy countertop or nasty forever wet towel. I have seen no rust on any of the metal, I think the bamboo knife holder keeps my knives sharper and like the title states, the drain that can be aimed back into your sink is sweet.I wish It was able to hold more cups, would hold cups higher up so there is no contact on the lip (sometimes leaves a funny water mark) and I have friends that complain they can's stack as many larger items in it.

Harold Imports Chestnutter
After buying 2 of these for myself and a friend, they both fell apart after several uses (the hinge pins came out and have been re-installed several times), the blades bent and lost their sharpness. A great idea but horrible construction. The idea of chestnutter is good but needs some improvements. Due to the depth of chestnut chamber, the cutter can only reach the big size chestnuts. Also the cutter is not sharp enough.Buy Harold Imports Chestnutter Now
This is a great idea. I bought it a few years ago as a gift for my parents who love roasted chestnuts. It really worked well until it broke after maybe a dozen uses. Dexter-Russell (S134PCP) - 3" Boston-Style Oyster Knife - Sani-Safe Series
I earn my living as a cook. Every restaurant I've needed to shuck oysters in has these knives. This one was for my personal collection. I don't know what I'd do without it. It makes opening oysters a relatively easy operation, provides a good grip and plenty of leverage. I would recommend this for home users and pro's alike. Save your money and buy this instead of the Wusthof or JA Henckel models, it does the same thing for 1/4 of the price. This knife is made to last a lifetime. The handle is designed for a solid grip and the rigid blade makes for a great oyster knife. I have owned the 4 inch version of this knife for about 20 years and I tend to prefer the extra length but both do the job better than any other knife I've used.Buy Dexter-Russell (S134PCP) - 3" Boston-Style Oyster Knife - Sani-Safe Series Now

I've shucked approx. 5 dozen oysters since receiving this knife. It does the job well. Did a nice job on the smaller Kumamoto's.Dexter-Russell (2333-9PCP) - 9" Fillet Knife - Dexter-Russell Series
Buy a Dexter Russell if you want a good dependable fillet knife. I bought a much more expensive Wustoff fillet knife prior to this. I should have saved my money, as this knife worked out better for me. I too was a commercial fisherman for over 20 years. That means you know how to catch fish, not necessarily process them, as most of the fish I sold were only gutted or sold whole. However, because I sold my fish I got to look inside the commercial processing plants of the larger fish buyers. The people that work there know more about filleting than anyone. Believe meit is harder to fillet commercially than what the average person can produce. They leave a good looking fillet and with less fine bonesand they do it at high speed. You will always find Dexter Russell's at the top of the list of knives used. Now I have a selection of lengths and widths of Dexter Russell's (this is the longest) for different species of fish for my personal use. Just learn how to properly maintain it's edge (watch some YouTube videos if you don't know how) and you will be more than satisfied.I give 5 stars for the quality of the blade, but the handle is softer wood than maybe should be in a knife handle. Really do need to oil or otherwise give the wood handle some sort of protective finish first chance you get. Blade is older style high carbon steel that tarnishes right away, and builds up to a sort of dark finish over time. I am pleased with the feel of the blade, which is to me the right balance between stiff and flexible. I think this knife is best for special work like ham slicing. The best jack-o-lantern carving blade ever.Buy Dexter-Russell (2333-9PCP) - 9" Fillet Knife - Dexter-Russell Series Now
After six months of use this knife is still sharp. We have cleaned 100's of fish with this knife this year and I have not had to sharpened it yet. Lock&Lock Cookplus Nova Stainless Steel Flatware, 30-Piece
I waited a little while before reviewing these to see how they'd hold up after a bunch of times through the dishwasher. They've been washed quite a bit and still look brand new! They have a nice feel to them and they aren't to heavy or bulky. The knives have a little bit of a sharp point to them that can be a little tricky if your spreading jam and peanut butter but once you get used to it it's not a problem. Overall I am happy with the heft and feel of this knife and I much prefer it to Kleve 7" Santoku. This knife "rocks" easily (like you're supposed to when you chop), whereas the santoku, at least the Kleve version, doesn't rock as well. It's pretty heavy and thick and while it's sharp, it's not as sharp as some others knives I've tried. I can't really afford a good knife, but just for kicks I went and tried a Shun damascus steel chef knife and also an expensive german knife. They were thinner, but cut easier.
Anyway, I know that this knife's steel is nothing special and can't be expected to perform as well as VG-10 core with damascus cladding, but I think I'd go back and save my money for a Slitbar knife from IKEA (they have a $50 Damascus steel 8" chef model). For $12 I'd be happier and would give 4 stars (everything is relative to price).
One thing I don't like: the full bolster it will eventually get in the way of sharpening and serves no purpose. A bolster is nice, but the Santoku version has a partial bolster that would be the way to do it.
I have most of the Kleve knives and overall for the prices I paid I like them, they are well balanced and feel and look nice. Fairly sharp and hold edge ok.
Schmidt Brothers Cutlery, SBODB15, Bonded Teak 15 Piece Full Knife Set
Prepare to be amazed by the quality of these knives. If you've ever tried cutting through meat with dull knives, you'll be absolutely astounded by the incredible cutting ability that this premier set offers. While they're obviously not inexpensive, the cost is well worth it, considering that this is a knife set that will last a lifetime. They make preparing a meal a pleasure, and look gorgeous when displayed on your kitchen counter. The high quality German stainless steel blends beautifully into the soft teak wood and really makes a statement when guests arrive. What I like most about the product 1) Looks beautiful on the counter top 2) Steel is good quality 3) The set of knives that comes with the block are a good variety 4) My other signature knives look good on the block too 5) Manufactures tips on website, include a video on turkey carving. What I liked least about the product 1) Inspite of other reviews I've read my knives didn't arrive at the peak of sharpness and needed additional sharpening 2) I thought the wood handles would have a finish but it's a natural texture and you will need bamboo oil to prevent the handles from becoming and looking dry & brittle. 3) Magnets on the block could be stronger. The knives tend to wobble or lean. Overall I think the product performs well and cosmetically looks nice but the quality of the teak wood could be better. I don't think they're dishwasher safe because of the handles. If you purchase the knives make sure to purchase bamboo oil too.Buy Schmidt Brothers Cutlery, SBODB15, Bonded Teak 15 Piece Full Knife Set Now
Mundial 5100 Series 6-Inch Chef's Knife, Black
I'd heard good things about the Mundial 5100 series, so when I saw this 6" chef's knife for less than $20, I grabbed one. The 5100 series is made in the style of traditional German knives -for example, the Wusthof Classic series. In comparison to the Wusthofs I own, this Mundial knife is distinctly beefier, but not as perfect in finishing. The blade of the Mundial is thicker than the blade of my Wusthof Classic 7" Chef's Knife; the Mundial weighs 210g, while the (slightly longer) Wusthof weighs 170g. The joints between the black plastic handle and the steel bolster are not as "seamless" on the Mundial as on my Wusthof knives, and there is more asymmetry between the right and left sides of the handle on the Mundial than on my Wusthofs. For the sake of comparison, if I rate my Wusthofs 9.5-10 in quality of finishing, this Mundial would rate about 8.5. The Mundial is still a nice knife... it is better made than Chinese knives made in the German style that I have seen. Considering that the Wusthof 6" Chef's knife is currently $100 at Amazon -a five-fold difference -the Mundial deserves 4.5 stars for high quality at a very good price. My wife is petite and an 8" chef's knife is too big. This 6" knife is perfect for her and she loves it. Her sister tried it and bought one for herself.I was tempted to buy one of those German $100 knives, but after trying this one, I do not see why I should. It feels good, looks good, and is sharp as a razor. What more could you want?
Kuhn Rikon Kinderkitchen Dog Knife with Teeth
I got this knife along with the Kuhn Rikon Kinderkitchen measuring spoons for my daughter for Christmas. She loves using it to help chop vegetables for dinner. I was so pleased when she ate some raw cabbage after chopping it up. She spreads butter with it as well. I am teaching her proper knife use techniques even though she is only 3. As other reviewers have said, the knife is sharp enough to cut food, but it would be difficult to really injure yourself with it. Great, fun product that playfully includes children in food prep.I bought this knife for my daughter after she came home from preschool day after day talking about how she helped to cut up vegetables with a puppy knife. I asked the teacher what she was using to cut with. She showed me and we had to have one! My daughter LOVES cutting up vegetables for soup or to dip, and this knife is the only thing I would let her use. It works and is safe for a careful 4-year-old (with supervision). Gave this to our nephews for Christmas (they are 3, 4, and 6 years old), and the six-year-old told us the next day that he had already used it "all the time." :) Funny, since it had only been one day. When we see him again in a couple of weeks, we'll ask him if he still likes it. The knives are super-cute and perfectly kid-sized, and I'm not aware of any problems... I'll check in with their parents on that. They are Swiss-designed, and having spent a month in Germany last year, I tend to have confidence in designs that come from that part of the world. :) So four stars for now, until I check in with the family again.March 2012 Update: Five stars now, since I asked the six-year-old in February how he liked his "little dog knife," and if he uses it. He says he still loves and uses it all the time. I asked how his four-year-old brother's knife is holding up, and he said "good, but he pulled the tail off." So they still love their knives, and they've held up well, though the rubbery tail can apparently be pulled off. That's too bad because they're so cute with their flexible little tails.

This knife is slightly larger than the dog knife without teeth. Both are great products, easy for the kids to hold, fits nicely in their hands, great story to teach then the proper way of cutting keep the dogs nose to the board, watch his eye as it goes up and down, no fingers in front of the ears, and hand status in front of the tail (look at the knife and this will make sense)
