Sunbeam 76893.05 Kitchen Bake 5-Piece Bakeware Set, Carbon Steel

Sunbeam 76893.05 Kitchen Bake 5-Piece Bakeware Set, Carbon SteelSunbeam 76893.05 Kitchen Bake 5-Piece Bakeware Set, Carbon Steel

All of my baking pans were ruined by rust and mold in a flood so I ordered this to have some basics again. I'm going to order another whole set because they are very nice, good sizes and non-stick. I definitely recommend this set to anyone setting up a new apartment or home. They will last a good while if properly cared for so unless you are a professional baker and want to invest in high priced bakeware, this is perfect.

Very happy with this product so far. It truly is non-stick and so easy to clean after using. I have used the cookie sheet the most and the quality seems to be very good...no warping (again, so far).

I was very excited to receive the product because all of my baking products have been ruined by my male roommates who do not know how to use them. Within two days, I recieved the product and it was excellent. So far I have used all the bakeware except the cake pans since I don't typically make cake. The muffin tin, loaf tin and cookie sheet are all non stick and excellent with even heat distribution so everything cook perfectly and evenly.

I would recommend this to everyone, especially for the cheap price.

Got these on sale on Amazon. Got them in the mail shortly after ordering and opened (and put them to use!) right away. Definitely am happy with my purchase. 2 cake pans, 1 bread/loaf pan, 1 muffin pan, and 1 cookie sheet. I really wish it was a 12-muffin pan instead of a 6-muffin.. but doesn't affect how much I love this set! I've used the cookie sheet almost daily since ordering and no warping, or any other negatives, have occurred. EASY TO CLEAN! Overall happy and satisfied.

Very small, very thin, can't last long...we'll see...not what I expected...the photos don't in any way let you know what is really coming...6 muffin holes should've told me something....apparently there are lots of marketers who know they can really pull one off since the photos don't give you any scale for what to expect...buyer beware !!!

Wusthof Culinar 8-Inch Carving Knife

Wusthof Culinar 8-Inch Carving KnifeIf you frequently carve roasts or poultry, and have some extra money lying around, then this is the knife for you. Although not quite as sharp as the Shun Stainless slicing knife, the Wusthof Culinar carving knife is better balanced than the Shun Stainless or the Henckels Twin Select, and it is sharper than the Henckels. Although some might find this knife pricey given that it may not get used as much as a cook's knife or a santoku knife, neither of those will carve meat as easily as this knife. I have tried carving a turkey with a cook's knife, and it just is not a good idea. The stainless handle may be slippery for some to use, but I find it more comfortable to use than the handles on the Wusthof Classic and Grand Prix knives. With all said, this is a great knife that has encouraged me to buy more roasts and whole poultry by its ease of use.

There are really two main competitors in the high-end mainstream kitchen knife market: Henckels and Wusthof. Those who have used both usually have a preference. My preference (and therefore bias you should know about) is for the Wusthofs.

The Wusthof Culinar line is an all stainless steel look, rather than a black handle. Although the picture and some descriptions want you to think this is a single piece knife, be advised that the hand is a separate piece of stainless steel molded onto the tang. I personally prefer the handle of the Grand Prix and Classic, because the grip is surer for me, but this is, to some extent, a matter of personal preference. This series "looks" more professional to some (like a Viking stove).

This particular model, the 8 inch carving knife, is a good knife, but I find its uses to be few. For chopping, the chef's knife or utility knife are more useful. This knife is too long and thin for chopping; its balance isn't right. Therefore, this knife is really limited to carving meats. For most cooks, this is an expensive knife for a rare job. If you are completing your collection, I recommend this knife. If you are starting a collection and looking for an all-purpose knife, I would recommend the 8 inch chef's knife or the 4 ½ inch utility knife.

This was advritised as an 8'' carving knife when in fact its a 6'' utility knife either way it was a good deal just not what i ordered still a very handy knife to have in my roll

Kitchenaid 4.5 Inch Santoku Knife Red Handle

Kitchenaid 4.5 Inch Santoku Knife Red HandleVery good for chopping. Keeps a nice edge. Handle is somewhat slender, especially for a male user. Would prefer this knife in 5 1/2 inches and a very thin, hard blade. Am wondering if there is a 5 1/2 inch standard knife available and if it has a more slender blade than the Santoku. Used such a blade when vacationing in Hilton Head, staying in a condo.

I choose this rating because this knife is very durable and sharp. A quality WHICH I expected from kitchenaid and they did not disappoint.

Prestige Coutale Sommelier - All Stainless Steel

Prestige Coutale Sommelier - All Stainless SteelFirst off, this is a well made sturdy piece of equipment that will probably last many years. This comes at the price of weight though. This thing is solid steel and it feels like it. 5.4oz (1/3pound) doesn't sound like much but when its in you pocket and your walking fast you notice it. I'm a bartender and server so I need to keep it in my pocket and after a few weeks I've already noticed a holes forming in my pockets. Part of this is due to the pointed end opposite the opener. The handle closer to the opener is rounded and smooth but the pointed end has very angular and sharp sides and the end is fairly narrow which makes it pretty abrasive.

The knife design isn't optimal either. It's serration is to aggressive and tears the foil rather than cutting.

the bottle opener is also not optimal. I often need to rotate a beer bottle a bit and make a second bend to get the top off. The opener is a bit too short and causes the bottle top to bend at one side rather than pop off. If you fully extend the opener and use the bottle opener on the far side of the bottle tab (flip the tool over and push down on the corkscrew side of the handle)it works better but I don't want to flip it open 50x per night.

The corkscrew and lever work wonderfully. The hing mechanism on the lever works great and is well constructed. The corkscrew itself is sturdy in its hinge and has a groove on the edge that helps it slide in the cork easily.

Great for a low volume fancy wine shop where the customers need to be impressed and it sits looking pretty on the shelf when not in use. Not great for a bartender/waiter who needs fast functionality and carries it with them at all times.

This is the best wine tool I've ever owned and as a sommelier I open a lot of wine. Not only is the product great, but the customer service is top notch. Thanks again!!

This is a fantastic opener. I've used all of them, Laguiole, hand-made gorgeous models... you name it. This opener is the one I use in my wine store and after 7 months, it's still my favorite. Operates perfectly and I highly recommend it!

After going through rabbit corkscrews and basic corkscrews, all which broke after some time, we found this amazing wine opener. It is solid and easy to use. What a breeze. Looks fancy on our bar as well. Highly recommended.

UPDATE: I am updating this review because I had to deal with the company Wine-n-Gear and their service was exceptional. After quite a bit of use, I still highly recommend this opener and if anything goes wrong with the product or your order, just know that you will be well taken care of. A+ for the product and for customer service.

UPDATE #2: I am updating my May 16, 2012 review because this corkscrew turned out to be a dud. It worked very well for the first while, but then the spring that holds in the little foil cutter broke causing the very sharp knife to fall out very dangerous. So, we contacted the sellers who replaced the corkscrew immediately (very good customer service). Unfortunately, our second corkscrew didn't even last as long as the first one before the foil cutter spring broke again. We are now using it very gingerly so as to not cut our hands every time we open wine. I do not recommend this product.

UPDATE #3: I was contacted by the vendor that the design flaw in this product has been fixed and they replaced my defective opener. I have changed my rating back to 5 stars for two reasons. #1 the product has been used every day since it was replaced and it remains in excellent shape. It's a great opener. Excellent quality. Not sure why someone didn't like the quality of it. It's durable and sleek. Heavy duty. #2 the customer service I received from the vendor, Wine-n-Gear, was exceptional. I would refer this product because I believe it's a great opener, and also because the company is great to deal with and provided excellent service. A+

I own a Screwpull by Le Creuset Waiter's Corkscrew and enjoy it very much. If the only goal is open the bottle of wine without any trouble Screwpull is all you need it is cool and works easily. I even purchased a whole bunch of them as a small gifts. Unfortunately, utilitarian functionality is not what I wanted and I decided to spring for the different items of that variety. As long as Screwpull (and Le Creuset Waiter's Friend Corkscrew, Black as well) is just a re-branded Coutale, I wanted to have different handles and sizes with that perfect two-step mechanism, which was available under original brand Coutale. Before buying full line of openers (wooden, pocket...) I tried the one, which all stainless and here is my sad story:

1) Polish is no good for the item with the word Prestige in the title. Item has many visible edges, which supposed to be polished out. There is an unpolished spot next to the foil cutter;

2) Item comes covered with manufacturing oil and polish paste residue;

3) Item consists of 5 layers of steel and there are two clearly visible splits between the layers at the notch of the handle;

4) Foil cutter is hard to open. It is skewed and when I close the cutter, it doesn't go directly into the slot. It hits the handle instead and you have to help it with the finger to go into slot;

5) Worm opens at a wrong angle and item looks skewed, asymmetrical;

6) There are many other small defects and inconsistencies, which are difficult to describe, but they provide a lousy feel.

Altogether this make corkscrew looking screwy, which is a surprise. Probably, my perfect Screwpulls went through Srewpull's control. And it looks like neither Coutale itself or its exclusive distributor wine-n-gear cares about what the sell under Coutale brand.

Goes back to seller...

P.S. I just received a True Fabrications Deluxe Professional Corkscrew, Stainless, which is exact copy of the Coutale, so the copy has none of those defects and it costs only $12.50 a real stainless STEAL. Good job True Fabrication, shame on Coutale.

I got these scissors as a stocking stuffer. When I told Santa they turned out to be no good for me, she was taken aback these were supposed to be great scissors, and good for lefties.

The scissors were good for a few uses, but in a short time the hinge loosened to the point that I can't cut anything with them left handed. Most "ambidextrous" scissors are regular right-handed scissors with no special design feature other than a tight hinge. When gripped right-handed, the hand naturally pushes the blades of the scissors together. When gripped left-handed, the blades get pushed apart. Obviously a loose hinge on supposedly ambidextrous scissors makes them no good for left handed people.

Even if I were right-handed and the loose hinge did not make the scissors useless (they do still work right-handed), I would still say that any pair of scissors with a loose hinge after only a couple weeks of normal kitchen use is simply junk. These scissors are expensive junk.

Rada Cutlery Deluxe Vegetable Peeler, Made in USA (Pack of 2)

Rada Cutlery Deluxe Vegetable Peeler, Black HandleMy opinion, because I personally prefer the larger Deluxe size and I use a dishwasher: Three stars for the regular size aluminum version; down one for aluminum handle and one for regular size. Four stars for black handle, regular size. I rate the black handled Deluxe version as five stars. In spite of variable star rating, for various Rada peelers, the unobstructed high quality blade is superb. Read on.

The Amazon descriptions for the great (see other reviews) Rada vegetable peelers sometimes lack key information which, from the radacutlery dot com site, products page, is as follows. Pay attention to the model numbers; assume a smaller size if model number is not listed.

There are TWO peelers:

The Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R132 / W232) is blade 1 3/4", overall 7 1/4".

The Deluxe Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R141 / W241) is blade 2", overall 8 3/8".

There are TWO handles, one aluminum and one black dishwasher safe. This explains some of the differences in price between listings and some reviewer comments. In reviews, pay attention to the "This review is from:" line, because Amazon groups reviews, not making distinctions between aluminum handle and black handle reviews.

To make comparisons of all the peelers, search within Amazon for, simply, Rada Peeler. That gives you the aluminum peelers with the option to click on black handled version. But, if you click on black handle option you cannot review the item. If, however, you search "Rada peeler black" you can then review the black handled version.

If you have a dishwasher AND plan on cleaning your peeler in it, I'd stay away from the nice looking but impractical aluminum handle models, because aluminum reacts with dishwasher detergents, causing it to turn color and over time to look horrible (my opinion) compared to an original finish. If you hand wash the aluminum handled peeler (or knives), no problem. Other reviewers have mentioned the color change. My comments on aluminum and dishwashers is not based on the Rada product specifically; they are based on long, long experience with many different aluminum products in dishwashers.

I wish Rada would make an all stainless handle, but the black dishwasher safe handle models are quite fine. Buy two, one to give to a relative or friend; you'll like it enough to share it.

If you are considering getting some (highly rated) Rada knives, be sure to go to the products page of the company website to get the blade size dimensions which are not given for many knives listed via Amazon, yet which is key info for online purchasing, so you can compare to your knives currently in counter-top holders or your drawers. Buy black dishwasher safe handles!

I have bought every kind of peeler available & this is the best one I have ever had. I bought one for each of my kids for a stocking stuffer as mine seems to wander out of the kitchen drawer!

Well designed peeler works very quickly. Grip leaves something to be desired but it's easy to clean and the basic shape makes it easy to change hand position while you work. Way better to have a peeler that peels well instead of a peeler that feels good in your hand but doesn't get the peeling job done efficiently.

J.A. Henckels International Classic Forged 2-Piece Stainless Steel Carving SetThis J.A. Henckels International Classic Forged Carving Set does a high quality job at a reasonable price. While not as impressive as the Henckels top of the line carving set, it slices with ease. You can carve adequately thin slices without much effort. I highly recommend this set to anyone on a budget who requires a satisfactory slicer.

I bought this for my husband & he loves it! He didn't think he's care much about the fork, but found that to be handy as well. A great value! Another great Henckels product!

I gave it 4 stars since I have not tried a more expensive carving knife set. I used it twice over the holidays, carving a 14lb Thanksgiving turkey and a 8 lb leg of lamb for Christmas.

The knife and fork did not feel heavy in my hands while carving both on the kitchen counter and cutting was a breeze.

My only possible complaint is the corners of the handle feel a bit sharp. It won't cut your hands, but might be a little uncomfortable for some.

Chef's Choice 320 Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, White

Chef's Choice 320 Diamond Hone Knife Sharpener, WhiteYou must read the instructions and follow them to get the knack

of making "new" knife blades out of old. It took a bit to get my

extremely dull knives sharpened, but now they are fantastic!

I sharpened tiny paring knives up to my chinese cleaver and was

pleased with the super sharp results.

Make sure you allow the blades to align with the magnetic edge,

do the passes according to instructions and you won't be sorry.

Sorry Amazon doesn't have a better price, I actually found cheaper by $40.00 in Manhattan, still the price is good compared to some of the models I priced out at that big box store on 6th Avenue. My husband can't believe this sharpener delivers the goods without the addition of oil and water during sharpening.

I've been sharpening knives since I was a kid, but got really tired of hand sharpening kitchen knives everytime a family member cut through something on a ceramic plate (seemed like daily). I was really skeptical of any motorized sharpener, especially as costly as these are, but most of the reviews were good so I purchased one. I am so pleased. Don't try to use one of these without reading the directions...they have specific steps to follow that are not always obvious, even to those of us used to hand sharpening. And, like others have said, the first sharpening takes a while in order to correct the angle of the blade. Once you're there, you feel a huge burr/curl form on the edge, then you hone, and the knife will get extremely sharp. I have a large bald spot on my arm now where I tested the knives.

I really like the blade guides. They're not perfect in holding the blade, but are good enough to give you the idea of how to hold & draw the knife. Some have commented on scratch marks that are left on the sides of the blades. I got them my first try, then realized if I was more careful in holding the blade true to the angle guide, it didn't happen. As a word of warning, if you order one with a metal exterior it adds about $20.00 to the price. White plastic saves you money and doesn't have anything to do with functionality.

...and that is purely because I am a traditionalist when it comes to sharpening knives. I spend a lot of time outdoors and sharpening a knife the old fashioned way is an essential skill for every man...and sadly maybe for the woman whose man won't develop the skill. Even during a stint in the deli and meat business for 9 years, I stuck with the old methods. As often as I had to sharpen knives, only occasionally and with a lot of work was I able to get our knives really razor sharp. Other times, they were only just pretty sharp!

Many people don't realize that the most dangerous utensil you have in the kitchen is a dull knife. A dull knife requires more force to do the same work. Dull knives are more susceptible to slipping and combined with the force that moved them, can still produce chilling and even life threatening accidental cuts. A sharp knife requires much less force, can cut more precisely and is easier to control.

I bought this device for my son and daughter in law for Christmas 2008. They owned excellent quality knives, but they were sharp only for the first few months after they bought them. After that, I discovered they may as well have used a butter knife because that's the condition these knives reached pretty quick. The knives also suffered from the very bad habit of being stored loosely in a drawer. Consequently they had nicks in addition to just being dull. I was afraid that my daughter in law would end up with a nasty cut. The situation got so bad that instead of sharpening the dang things, my daughter in law would just buy a new knife each year!

I used this device for the first time just last week only because I remained as stubborn about my son learning how to use it as I did about my own traditionalist methods. He and a buddy tried using it...without looking at the instructions... and didn't get anywhere with it. I learned very quickly that had I been smart, I would have bought one of these machines for ourselves when we started our deli business in 1994 !!

It is important to read and follow the instructions to get the best service from this machine. Starting with the dullest 10" knife and using only the weight of the knife, I drew the knife blade in 10 alternating passes. This very quickly produced the burr sought in the instructions for stage 1 along the entire length of the blade. (Normally, a knife in better condition would need only a total of 2-4 alternating passes to produce the same result.) After reaching the burr stage, only 4 alternating passes (2 on each side) in stage 2 produced an edge on this knife that I could use to shave the hair off the back of my left index finger! I gave that knife one more stage 2 pass for each side and went on to the next knife. This time fewer passes...same results! My daughter in law gave it a shot with another dull knife that would only smush a tomato and produced an edge in only seconds that would cut tomatoes paper thin! She also got razor sharp results on a short bladed paring knife!

Once a knife is this sharp, the machine won't be needed for quite a while. Generally, only a pass or two with a high quality ridged sharpening steel such as those offered by Forschner or Mundial will be enough to maintain the edge for months of household kitchen use. This is because the edge of a razor sharp knife becomes so thin that it will "fold over" in the shape of a J during use. The steel straightens the edge and restores it's razor sharpness with just a few VERY LIGHT strokes. The vision you might have of the butcher flailing his knife 10-20 times with the steel to restore the edge is really overkill and mostly for show. The two light strokes should do it...and as quietly and lightly as possible. I have even used the bottom of a ceramic coffee cup or the back edge of another high quality knife in place of a sharpening steel, although the coffee cup will remove some material from the blade of the knife.

In just minutes with this machine, we had 8 razor sharp knives and accomplished what could have literally taken HOURS to achieve with traditional methods. If you are not getting the same results with your machine, my humble guess would be that you are not using it properly. the steel in your knife is very hard or they are in really bad shape. Only as a last resort would I fault this machine. We were even somewhat saddened when we were done!

Remember to store your knives in a way that keeps them banging against each other. We prefer wood blocks designed for storing knives. They can get pricey if you buy them retail. We managed to pick ours up at Goodwill for $2....a real bargain. They have them every time I go in there.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE 11/29/2010

This sharpener worked so well on my daughter-in-law's knives that I took one of mine that I have been maintaining the traditional way on this trip to sharpen it on her sharpener. The knives I did for the above review needed only touch up sharpening and was done with them in a few seconds. My 10" kitchen knife, on the other hand, needed a lot of work. I was getting nowhere on the 1st stage and thought I might be using it wrong. In reality, the angle I had sharpened mine to manually was incorrect and the machine was putting the correct edge on them. I lost count of the # of 1st stage passes made to get the burr, but when I did, a few passes in the 2nd stage had the knife razor sharp. If you are not getting anywhere with this sharpener, you need to make sure you are following the directions and be persistent to get that "burr". Then you will be only seconds away from the sharpest edge you've ever had...

I wasn't planning to buy an electric sharpener, but after reading a guide by Wusthof on honing and sharpening knives , I decided to go for it. Wusthof recommended this electric sharpener, as did my local Sur La Table store.

It works pretty well, was easy to use, and my knives were definitely sharper afterwards. I recommend this knife sharpener, and definitely recommend reading the Wusthof guide.

Product does a decent job of sharpening both everyday, cheap knives as well as the more expensive Henkel and Wusthof branded knives although in my experience I have been unable to achieve the "razor-sharp" edge that they have advertised. It could be that I am doing it wrong but will have to re-sharpen to find out if I can do it.

After reading the instructions and going through the motions it was easy enough and it did sharpen what were previuosly unusable knives relatively quickly compared to using a manual sharpener my only concern is that the motor did heat up somehwat after doing 4 knives in succession

Genesis Waiter's Corkscrew - Black

Genesis Waiter's Corkscrew - BlackI purchased this to replace a very nice one I'd had for about 18 years; and I specifically wanted this type of foil cutter again (not the knife). It seems sturdy and I have not been disappointed.

Victorinox Forged 17-Piece Knife Set with Block

Victorinox Forged 17-Piece Knife Set with BlockIncredibly solid, sturdy, well-balanced feel. As soon as you draw a knife out of the block it has your attention as a serious piece of workmanship. Without any introduction to the set my brother-in-law cut a slice of sourdough with the bread knife, took a long look at the blade, felt the balance a bit, and proclaimed "I think this is the first bread knife I've ever seen that I would actually use for self defense." Nobody's suggesting these be used as a weapon of course, but the comment does speak to the quality. Even the shears are really remarkable.

The knives are wonderful to use as well. The factory edge on the blades is mind-boggling. They cut almost like straight razors but without the need for constant sharpening. When I first realized the steak knives weren't serrated I was a bit worried but having used them I can say they cut far better than any serrated steak knife I've used and will be easier to keep sharp.

The complement of included knives is very balanced. At first I thought the chef's knife might be a little too big for most tasks but it handles so supremely that it is still easy to use for any size job from chopping garlic up to slicing / dicing large onions. This was a big deal to me to be able to have a single go-to knife for general meal prep. I also recently used the boning knife for a bone-in honey baked ham and effortlessly had perfect slices down to the bone. My wife is crazy about the veggie knife. No matter what job you have there's a choice in this set to make your job easy.

The bamboo block looks surprisingly nice in person. I think bamboo can sometimes be written off as a cheap / eco-trendy option, sometimes rightly so, but this in no way feels like some temporary "oh that's the one that came with the set" block that I'll be replacing in a couple years. The bamboo is very well put together, very nicely finished, and very solid. And without the slightest hint of cheap about it the bamboo is extraordinarily beautiful. If you want oak and nothing can change your mind that's your opinion, but for my money this particular bamboo block leaves nothing to be desired.

I chose this set over similar Wusthof and Henckels sets when I found out they included stamped steak knives. I know there are some fine stamped blades out there but I personally see forged blades being in another category and although the sets with stamped steak knives cost less up front when I looked up the cost of the set of matching forged steak knives I would need someday if I got the other brand I decided it was silly to spend that much money on a knife set with the intention of having to buy part of the set over again.

The Victorinox selection is also a bit more comprehensive than the competition's in my opinion. I don't feel like I have to add a santoku or a nice chef's knife or a boning knife or have a couple more steak knives in a drawer because everything is included.

The only "con" to this set is the price. All I can say about that is that I think it's worth every penny.

Hope this helps!

I noticed that the description does not include exactly which knives are included. Victorinox is a great brand and if you want good knives at a decent price, this might be a good option for you.

Chef'n Slicester Cheese Slicer, Apricot

Chef'n Slicester Cheese Slicer, ApricotI like this slicer for several reasons. It is easy to use, safe and creates slices that are even all the way to the bottom. The handle is a comfortable size and shape to grip and feels secure in your hand. The unit will accommodate a cheese block as wide as 3 1/4". The roller is adjustable allowing for three different slice thicknesses, from an 1/8" to 1/4". I found the adjuster a bit hard to turn so I've selected the size I like most and just leave it there most of the time.

There's a spring action built into the cutter that isn't evident when looking at it, but allows the blade to descend all the way to your cutting surface giving an even slice from top to bottom. I've only used the cutter on cheddar and block cheeses of similar firmness so can't speak to its performance on other types, but am very pleased with the slices on those I've tried. The blade is not sharp so might not be good on hard cheeses. The holes in the blade are good for letting each slice fall away rather than sticking to the cutter as happens with some types.

I don't like the spatula/plane type slicers with the slot in them because the slices are too thin to suit me and I can never get them even. I've tried the T shaped slicers with the wire, but get annoyed that I can't get all the way to the bottom of the block so after several slices I have a sort of tongue of cheese left at the base of the block. The cheese cutting boards with the wired lever can work until the wire breaks, but since I'm left handed, they aren't ideal for me.

I'm always trying the latest gadget for cheese slicing and have finally found one I really like. If, like me, you haven't been satisfied with traditional slicers, you may find this is the answer. It sure does a great and consistent job for me.

First off, I will say it is easier to clean than my "board and wire" slicer. Just toss it in the dishwasher. Other than that, this is a great idea and I wanted to like it but it is fundamentally flawed.

First of all it only has three thickness settings, not an infinitely adjustable dial. For me, the thinnest was too thin and the next setting too thick.

It is difficult to cut even slices, especially on the thinnest setting.

You are limited to slices the size of the thin side of supermarket block cheese such as Cabots (about 3 inches max). If you have a bigger chunk or a wedge, or want a bigger slice, forget it.

Overall, too limiting for my use. It has gone in the trash and I've gone back to my "board and wire" cheese cutter.

This product really is perfect for slicing cheese.

This past Sunday it got its first good try out, since we sliced up about 5 blocks of cheese for the superbowl. Using this tool I was very easily able to slice a block in just a couple of seconds and each slice was the exact same size. The cheese slice might be a bit thicker than some people like, but I don't mind a thick piece of cheese. If you press the cheese firmly up against the plastic the metal blade will cut the perfect slice each time.

This cheese slicer is made of plastic and it isn't sturdy at all. The cheese never comes out in a single thickness because the inner arm isn't held in place at all. I bought it hoping it was as handy as it looked, but it was a terrible waste of money.

This is a great cheese slicer for burgers, sandwiches and more. The thinnest setting may produce too thick of slices for some applications. The more I've used it though the more I like it.

Oneida American Harmony 45-Piece Set, Service for 8

Oneida American Harmony 45-Piece Set, Service for 8American Harmony (also known as Arbor) has an elegant yet simple design, and is nicely balanced in the hand. It coordinates nicely with both traditional and more modern tableware. The finish holds up well through multiple trips through the dishwasher.

There also is a coordinating silverplate pattern called Silver Arbor, and a festive-looking gold-edged one called Golden Arbor. All are reasonably priced.

Original order contained several defective teaspoons (indentions along sides of spoons). E-mailed Amazon regarding problem they instructed me how to send items back. Returned three spoons which had the imperfections. After UPS had picked up package Amazon sent E-mail informing me the entire 45 pieces were to returned (this had not been mentioned in the two previous correspondences). After several polite but useless phone conversations with representatives in India I received another complete set of flatware ..... with yet more defective spoons included in the set. Attempted to contact Amazon by both phone and E-mail calls went to India once again and E-mail replies were generated form letters which did not address the issue at hand. Removed three good teaspoons from the replacement set and returned the remaining 42 pieces but not before Amazon sent me the incorrect return label which was going to cost me an additional $10.00 to have UPS pick up from my home had to drive six miles to hand deliver package to the "nearest" UPS substation. I will not purchase from Amazon again this was my third and final order. Customer service and communication is completely lacking.

I love this flatware, been wanting it for some time. The knives are a little long for my taste, but the set is comfortable in hand. Terrific!

I ordered this set to supplement the set (about 12 years old) that I already owned. The pattern has changed ever so slightly, but its not noticable to most. It was such a GREAT buy for the price. Shipped on time and the quality met all my expectations.

Set came and was exactly what I wanted to replace lost silverware at 2 houses but Oneida changed the weight and shape of the handles of the knives between my original purchase of the 2 sets maybe 10 years ago and this year. I can live with the different knives but they are not the same.

Wusthof Gourmet 2 -Piece Utility Knife SetMy wife uses knifes a lot because she loves to cook. She has a lot of Wusthof Classic knifes but I bought this set and she said there not bad but there no Wusthof Classic. These knifes are made of stamped steel and are not out of forge steel like the Wusthof Classic. Next time I will know and ask my wife. :)
