Shun TDM0722 Premier Serrated Utility Knife, 6-1/2-Inch

Shun TDM0722 Premier Serrated Utility Knife, 6-1/2-InchBOTTOM LINE

Shun Premier Knives are made with the same technique as traditional samurai swords. After months of moderate use on the toughest items, my Shun Premier knives haven't dulled, chipped, scratched, or otherwise marred their initial perfect finish. I know what I want daily in the kitchen and by my side in the Zombie apocalypse. However, consider looking for a better price elsewhere.

SHARPNESS AND STRENGTH

As an example of their sharpness, I have used other Shun Premier knives for cutting through the toughest things, like pineapple. The outside of a pineapple is as hard as wood, and my Santoku does it with only gentle application of force no sawing required. After months of use on only the tough stuff (I use different knives for for different things), this knife still hasn't dulled noticeably. Notice, this knife is for different uses, but I mention the pineapple as an example of how sharp Shun knives are generally.

BEAUTY

This knife is a thing of beauty it has a beautiful wooden finish on the handle, and the knife has this pretty blotted ink look, referred to in the description as Damascus. I love to show off my knives to all of my friends.

SHARPENING

Shun allows you to sharpen their knives easily by sending it into a discounted, professional service center for professional sharpening and restoration. The price is cheap (25% off of $3 per inch of sharpening). Just google "Shun Sharpening."

I won't risk sharpening my knife at home because I don't know how to properly use a whetstone. I have a Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Sharp Duo Knife Sharpener for use on my cheaper knives, but the instructions on the Shun recommend you don't use that kind of sharpener, since this knife is sharpened to a different degree than European knives.

PRICE

Surprisingly, the price on Amazon is not the best price I've seen for the blade. You may want to check your local high-end home-goods or kitchen-goods store like Crate and Barrel. Still, I would consider ordering from Amazon, simply because shipping to my door is so convenient.

ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

I'm so impressed with my Shun Premier Line's ability to cut through poultry, ligaments and all, that I'm already planning on how to adapt my knife for the zombie apocalypse. Considering these things are made like samurai swords, I'm confident I'll be more well-equipped than my regular knife wielding buddies when we're out of bullets and the zombies are inevitably bearing down upon us.

I've had my serrated shun knife for almost a year, and it's still as sharp as the day I took it out of it's cardboard sleeve. It's a beautiful knife, as well. As long as you hand wash and dry these knives they will last for decades...if not for generations. My favorite use of this particular knife is slicing tomatoes and onions. You can slice so thin, you can almost see through the slice. Amazing.

I've had expensive German knives for 30 years, but have decided to give them to my son and switch to a complete set of Shuns.

Shun makes a quality product that is valued by the people who use knives for a living. My son loves these knives as the tools of his trade in the same way a mechanic would use a craftsman product or other hight quality tool. These knives are very expensive but worth every penny.

OXO Good Grips Bent Icing Knife

OXO Good Grips Bent Icing KnifeIf you are either a beginner or an expert cake baker, this bent icing knife is one of the best on the market. Thanks to OXO, whose product line, has the best grip handles, the balance of this knife is great. It is the only one you will need.

I bought this because I, too, wanted a longer icing knife. I works well, with the exception that it is flexible. So, the frosting cannot be cold or stiff, which sometimes makes the cake more difficult to ice. It does work fantastically with softer frostings and whipped cream.

Buy OXO Good Grips Bent Icing Knife Now

This tool may have some other uses that I don't know of, but it is just too flimsy for icing cakes with anything other than whipped cream. I think it's also much too short and narrow for the job, but that's probably a personal preference.

This utensil will slide under cookies stuck on a baking pan without cracking or crumbling them. It will allow you to remove a small square of brownie or cake from a pan without breaking up the pieces alongside it. It transfers several appetizers or treats at a time. And if you do use it to ice a cake, the offset handle provides excellent control and keeps your fingers out of the frosting. It smoothes any topping to absolute perfection -you will look like a pro.

After mangling a number of cakes with a butter knife, I gave in and bought this for icing my cakes. It's perfect for the job. I'm not a cake artist by any stretch of the imagination; I'm happy if the icing is on the cake and the cake is still in one piece. This knife made the job SO much easier. You just load it up with icing and start spreading. It's simple and easy and the right tool for the job.

Shun TDMS0200 Premier 2-Piece Carving Knife Boxed Set, Silver

Shun TDMS0200 Premier 2-Piece Carving Knife Boxed Set, SilverThis is a beautiful set and makes a very fine gift. Shun/Kershaw is a well respected brand and the knife is very sharp and of fine quality.

That said, you could likely find a set with similar cutting ability for less than half the price (but it would not be the work of art this set is; no points off the review because simple functionality is not what this set is about).

Watch for it to go on sale.

This set is not only beautiful, but comes both well packaged and sharp. This is the second set I received from Amazon though. In the first set the point of the knife had been broke off and was not anywhere to be found.

Had company coming over for Easter and needed a new carving set for the spiral cut ham...Had heard good things about Shun knives, but thought they were a little over priced-til I started carving with it! Amazingly sharp and gorgeous to look at right out of the box...easy to keep sharp with just a few strokes on the steel...A+!

Pricey but an excellent set. I have other knives made by Saber which are excellent and Kyocera ceramic but as far as looks, this is the knife to use.

Finish, weight and size are all about right for those needing a carving set of this length. I would adjudge it best for large carving, a substantial prime rib for example. The depth of the blade also increases its utility for a large turkey.

Wusthof Wood Block and Steel

Wusthof Wood Block and SteelIt's a shame when people rate products based on the defective example they received. Sure, consistency in workmanship is a consideration, but don't think bad things don't happen in transit.

That said, I really like this block. It is exactly what I needed and I couldn't beat the price (free with purchase of 3-peice starter set). And, it HOLDS MY 9-INCH BREADKNIFE, as well as the 3-peice starter set and steel. It came to me in great shape and feels solid. It's a lot heavier than I thought it would be. I plan to add kitchen shears and leave the other 3 slots open for knives I decide I need later.

The only thing missing is a place to put steak knives. You'll need a separate steak-knife block or a larger block to accommodate steak knives. I'm single and don't need many knives. I gave four stars instead of five for the small size that may not work for many people, and as stated above, the lack of space for steak knives.

: )

This is the set (block and steel) that some stores offer for free when you purchase $100 or more worth of Wusthof products. I have not seen them for sale seperately anywhere else. It's a wood block that will be perfect to start a collection with. It's got the logo that will show off your Wusthof preference. It's a bit bulky and doesn't go up as much as it goes forward. If you have enough counter space this will be perfect, it takes quite a bit of space on my counter.

Buy Wusthof Wood Block and Steel Now

This quality 9-slot oak hardwood slant knife block made by Wüsthof is perfect for those of us who begin collecting Wüsthof knives one by one, rather than by purchasing a larger set that comes with a wooden block and steel. It holds the included 9-inch steel, plus slots for seven knives, and a kitchen scissors. I have three different Wüsthof knife blocks, including this one, and I keep them in different places around my kitchen. This block is for storing some of my more frequently-used Wüsthof Classic knives: 8-inch cook's knife, 8-inch bread knife, 6-inch sandwich knife, 5-inch tomato knife, 5-inch serrated utility knife, 3 1/2-inch paring knife, 2 3/4-inch 'bird's beak' peeling knife, and my kitchen scissors. I've tried many methods for knife storage, such as a wall-mounted magnabar, a Wüsthof 'swinger' under-cabinet knife block, drawer storage with Meissermeister knife edge guards, and wooden knife blocks. I've found the Wüsthof oak wooden slant knife blocks to be the safest and most convenient means for storing my most frequently-used knives. I use a special oil on the exteriors of the wooden blocks when they appear to be dry, although one could use any non-toxic oil that isn't subject to going rancid for this purpose. The only drawback that I've found with this particular wood knife block is that it won't hold a cleaver, or some of the longer cook's, carving, and slicing knives, or carving fork. One needs either the Wüsthof Oak Mega Block with 25 slots or the Large 15-slot Block to store those items.

This is a good block, but I am quickly outgrowing it.

It fits a chef, slicer, bread knife and 4 smaller knives (paring, utility etc...). It also fits a steel and scissors which is nice.

The steel is great, and this is a great price.

The block itself is well made and attractive. It is made of pieces of wood glued together, but mine is done well.

It only has one slot for a chef's knife which is annoying because I have two.

I recommend this, but if you are like me, once you start buying Wusthof knives, you will want more and more.. thus, you may want a larger block.

Want Wusthof Wood Block and Steel Discount?

Yes the this item is poorly made the block is !!! I was going to give it as a gift but I am not going to give a block of wood slapped together for money!!! the 2 stars are for the steel!

Norton 24450 Japanese-Style Combination Waterstone 1000/4000 Grit, 8-Inch by 3-Inch by 1-Inch

Norton 24450 Japanese-Style Combination Waterstone 1000/4000 Grit, 8-Inch by 3-Inch by 1-Inch
  • Waterstone to create abrasive slurry for effective sharpening with less pressure than an oilstone requires
  • Combination stone has 1000 grit on one face for establishing and 4000 grit on the opposite face for maintaining and refining steel cutting edges
  • 1 x 8 x 3 inch (H x W x D) size is suitable for use as a bench stone for knives and tools
  • Cleans up easily with water as lubricant instead of oil
  • Blue plastic hinged box with no-slip rubber feet can be used as holder for the stone during sharpening

This is my first waterstone, but I have used them before in restaurants and know a good one from a dud. The 1000 grit side (brown) brings back an edge to a slightly dulled knife in just a couple of minutes, and the 4000 grit side (white) refines that edge further and slightly polishes the blade. I've used this stone on carbon steel knives, inexpensive stainless steel ones, and rather pricey stainless steel ones. The results with all of them have been excellent. There is a somewhat steep learning curve with these stones; it's easy to get a knife sharper than it was, but tricky to achieve the sort of edge that you're probably after if you're considering a whetstone. Regardless, I highly recommend this stone. The price may seem daunting, but considering how rarely you'll need to use the stone after your initial sharpening (a honing steel is sufficient for regular maintenance, in my experience), it will last a very long time. Other advantages include the larger than average surface area of the stone, which makes sharpening long or wide knives much easier than on the smaller, more common versions of stones that are popular, and the carrying case, which doubles as a sturdy stand.

Buy Norton 24450 Japanese-Style Combination Waterstone 1000/4000 Grit, 8-Inch by 3-Inch by 1-Inch Now

This stone works very well in sharpening knives without taking a lot of metal off of the knife. Highly recommended.

Bought this for my son to use while away at school. It works as intended, and seems to be holding up well after about a year of use. Using it on carbon steel blades such as a Morakniv (Mora brand) makes quick work of returning the edge to razor-sharp. Stainless kitchen knives take a little more work, but you get the same results.

This stone isn't the quality of the finer Japanese Waterstones, but then it isn't nearly as price either. If you are not a fanatic about sharpening you won't be able to tell the difference. If you are a sharpening snob and have the money to spare you are not seriously considering this stone anyway.

Good first waterstone or introduction to waterstone sharpening.

good all in one waterstone. i suggest getting lower grit for shaping heavily miss shaped knives (really dull). but if you want to just get one stone this is a good buy. the carrying case doubles as a platform, that is a big plus.

I use this stone on my Misono UX-10 knives. The 4000 grit does a quick job of putting an edge on these knives, and I would recommend purchasing a higher grit stone for finishing the edge,

Would have given it 5 stars but it arrived with numerous chips on its various corners and edges.

Wedgwood Vera Wang Stainless Hammered 4-Piece Hostess Set

Wedgwood Vera Wang Stainless Hammered 4-Piece Hostess SetI love this hostess set; The style is lovely. The large serving spoon and fork are very useful, but I was suprised that the knife and other spoon were so small. I had not looked closely at the photo. The knife is a butter knife and the spoon is the small (very small) kind that you would use for sugar when serving coffee.

Haidragon Coconut Knife

Haidragon Coconut KnifeThe secret is to peel away at the "cap" of the coconut where it connects to the tree with the tool. There is a light fleshy meat under the cap and the tool slides right into it no brawn required! We live in Florida and have green coconuts in our yard this makes them so easy to drink and coconut water is so good for you!

No matter what you call it, this is a great item for getting at coconut water from green and white coconuts. The coconut knife is meant for Whole green coconuts or fresh coconuts, with these coconuts it is recommended to go thru the side. Young coconuts, Thai coconuts and White coconuts: set the coconut on its flat side and tap the coconut thru the cone shaped top. Insert a straw and enjoy! I like to keep coconuts from my tree in the fridge and drink chilled. The husk acts as a natural insulation keeping it cold and is 100% recyclable! Once the coconut water is consumed you can use a large cleaver to split the coconut for the jelly inside. I make several holes in the coconut with the coconut tap to make this easier.

This tool was not designed for Brown ripe and white RIPE coconuts. You can find the soft eye of the three on the top and pierce that eye, but you risk damaging the coconut tap. Get a hammer and an ice pick for those hard nuts. Although these type of coconuts do contain coconut water, it is not of the same quality or taste as a young coconut. Generally these coconuts are used or their meat inside. The Coconut tap is NOT intended for use on unhusked or brown ripe coconuts.

The coconut tap comes with a cap over the sharp end that also serves as a knock out tool for the coconut core left in the tap after opening. An old fashioned ice pick also does the job cleaning out the tool.

This is a great little tool. Well-built; works well. Arrived in a timely fashion, although the seller didn't think so. They sent me a peronsalized e-mail advising me of a delay due to increased holiday business. That's great customer service.

My first experience of drinking coconut water on a regular basis (I think many call it "milk" here in the U.S.) was when I lived in Puerto Rico. Vendors in areas where coconut palms grew would harvest them and keep them in salvaged-from-the-junkyard, 30-year old electric soda pop coolers on the roadside in front of their humble house, to sell to thirsty travelers.

Some locals would mix it with Scotch whiskey, or rum. Pretty tasty, but it definitely cancels out some of the health benefits of the unadulterated coconut water.

With about four skillfully-placed strokes, (coconut in one hand, the other wielding the machete, (scary until you got used to seeing it), the vendor would chop out an opening in the end of the coconut to open it up, stick a straw in it, and hand it to the customer. Delicious, cool, mineral-packed, sweet but not too sweet refreshment!

Later, when I lived in Brazil, many of the food stands on the beaches in Rio de Janeiro and elsewhere offfered this natural liquid delight. They would normally use a tool similar to the one here, but wider in diameter.

Then I started to see franchised kiosks in shopping centers, where the sale of fresh coconut water was semi-automated, the nut being perforated by a manually operated punch, and the water emptied out and stored for ready delivery to the customer in containers ranging from a six-ounce plastic cup to a liter container.

Nowadays, we see coconut water in stores here in the U.S., packaged in liter boxes, and probably filtered, pasteurized, and who knows what else, in order to be able to ship it 5000 miles and meet sanitary requirements for imported foods. You don't need a tool to get into those packages, but the taste of the water does not compare the real thing.

Long story short, (or already too long, perhaps), if you or a friend are lucky enough to have coconut palms in your yard, as I am, or you love coconut water and have the $$$ to buy coconuts in the grocery store, you need a tool like this one! I was throwing out coconuts because it was too difficult to get at their liquid treasure. No longer. This coconut knife makes it safer, faster, easier to get at the water, even if you are dealing with the husked nut from the grocery store.

The only thing I would suggest is that this tool should have a bigger diameter, about twice its current size. As it is, I have to make three holes in order to be able to pour the water of several coconuts into a container for a couple of day's supply. It's fine for sipping one coconut's water with a straw, but not for pouring.

It's also a minor challenge to get the piece of coconut husk, shell and meat out of the knife after each use. A larger tool would make that easier.

Love this product! Ignore what others say about difficult to clean. Of course it's difficult! It's physics, people! You are compressing a substance into a restricted space. Get over it. If you want a self-cleaning coconut drill, have someone else do the work...

This tool makes opening coconuts way easier than cutting them open... plus you don't lose any of the precious coconut water! It took a second to clean it, though, I wish the cap wasn't as flimsy because I used it to push the pulp out and it bent slightly. But it's still an amazing product!

small bites which are necessary in the recovery process. They are highly durable and wash great in the dishwasher.

Global GF-32 - 6 1/4 inch, 16cm Heavyweight Chef's Knife

Global GF-32 - 6 1/4 inch, 16cm Heavyweight Chef's KnifeA great utility knife. Heavier at handle end than it looks. Thin blade can be easily damage if not use correctly. But still great knife with excellent finished.

I purchased this knife on 7/27 and contacted Global on 9/10 regarding a chip in the blade. I used it as a lite duty knife I can take to different restaurants and use on a salad line for chopping vegetables on the fly. I used it very seldom only on softer vegetables for one month and noticed a chip in the blade. It was out of the return period for Amazon which was fine because I really only wanted the blade fixed by Global (not an unreasonable request). I was told by Global that this wasn't under warranty and had nothing to do with the metal. Really the blade has nothing to do with the quality of the metal?

I have been a long time customer of Global. I have never had any problems with my other knifes from them 10" chef, 10" serrated, Veg, etc. for ten years. The fact that a company can't guarantee it's product for 45 days is absurd, I wasn't asking for a refund or something better, just fix the product. If you are going to invest $135 on one knife, I suggest you buy from a company that will at least fix a chip out of the blade and realize the value of a long time customer.

Update: So after talking with some chef friends. I have been told that shun is the way to go. One guy left his knife at his restaurant, line cook dropped it, breaking off tip, went to shun said hey is it fixable, they offered new knife at no cost!!! So I'm switching to SHUN!

Zwilling Cronidur 8 Chefs Knife

Zwilling Cronidur 8 Chefs KnifeIf you can afford to get only one knife for your kitchen, this is the blade to get, particularly at the current sale price. The balance of this blade is just about perfect while the weight for me is neither too heavy nor too light. The ergonomic connection between the non-slip handle and the Cronidur 30 steel blade encourages even a new cook to hold the knife in the efficient way recommended by cooking schools. And the blade is sharp, sharp, sharp.

The Cronidur 30 steel used by Zwilling for this line of knives is highly corrosion resistant and will also retain its sharpness far longer than the usual knife you may think of buying to save a few dollars.

A good knife will make you a better cook because it will make the sometimes endless slicing, chopping, dicing tasks virtually effortless. This is definitely an instance where paying more money now will save you from many replacements of inferior blades over the years. Highly recommended.

This was a gift and when I saw it I said there is no knife worth this amount of money. I decided to keep it since it was a gift and not something that I would buy myself. Then I used it and I was converted. The knife is increadible, it makes all the cutting task easy and fast. Not only does it make cutting thigs quicker but now with the way it sits in my hand I can cut things more uniform, which improves cooking items.

Shun Classic 6-Piece Knife Set with Bamboo Block

Shun Classic 6-Piece Knife Set with Bamboo BlockThe only thing this set is missing is a Serrated Blade. I have the Shun Serrated 9" Bread Knife and although it's not used as often as my Chef's Knife and Paring Knife, it's still essential to have a good serrated blade for cutting bread and the like.

Shun knives are beautiful creations period. Since I'm Asian, I love the tradition look and feel of this Japanese knife. I love the beauty of the blade and the dark, polished, Pakkawood handle. The unique "D"-shaped, Wood handles are preferable. The shape fits my hand perfectly, and the wood does not get slippery when wet providing a very secure hold. The steel is of utmost quality and sharpness. Do not put this blade into any old electric knife sharpener! Electric knife sharpeners are made to put one angle on any blade. These blades come with a 16 degree angle and you don't want to be changing that angle. There are electric knife sharpeners that can sharpen these knives, but you'll have to do some research and find out which ones can be a fit with these knives. I prefer to hone with a sharpening steel and manually sharpen with a stone if necessary (and I don't see it being necessary to touch it to a stone any time soon). The blade is sharp straight off the factory and as Alton Brown says it's the sharpest straight out of the factory edge as he's ever seen.

These knives are more expensive than most, but I think it's definitely worth it. To have the sharpest, most beautiful knife around it's no contest. If you are on a budget, build your collection slowly. It's been said that there are only 3 knives that are the absolute basics for any kitchen: A 8" Chef's Knife (or some kind of similar, large-ish chef's knife), a Paring Knife, and a Long Serrated blade for cutting bread and larger items. I would add a thin utility knife and a boning knife to that list next. Then I would add those "in-between" sizes as I get more money flow in. Now if you're buying a whole set like this, you'll get it all in one shot and it becomes a better deal than pieceing your collection together, one-by-one.

If you plan on spending any time in the kitchen, good kitchen knives are a definite must. Preparation is the bulk of cooking and when you have good knives, it cuts down on the danger of cutting yourself, it adds pleasure to the work, and it cuts down on prep time. Knives are also a very personal choice and it's best to at least go to a store and try it out for yourself first. Shun Knives are designed by the Japanese, so remember it's designed for small hands. This makes it fit most women's hands perfectly, but I've heard of guys with larger hands not like it so much and going back to the German knives. So definitely try it out. It's a personal thing, it needs to fit you.

Why spend so much money on a knife? Well, if you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and you almost always have to bust out a knife to prep a meal from scratch why not use the best? Why spend that time with items that you love and brings you pleasure to use? Many times, it's the small things that brings us the most pleasure in life, and I consider my Shun knives as one of those things. Having something so beautiful and yet so sharp and perfect it makes my time cooking just that much more enjoyable.

Another good thing to know is that although the Shun Knives are usually offered for right-handers, you can get these knives for left-handers. You just need to find the guys who stock and sell those ones as they are less known, and less common.

I bought this set for my significant other at Christmas. I looked around at Wusthof, Global, and a few others but liked the unique look and feel of these better. I also figured these would be more comfortable and easier to wield for a female. The end result is that she really enjoys them. Although she has fairly large hands for a woman, the handles fit her nicely.

The knives come very sharp and hold their edge for a long time. It will be interesting to see how well they take to a professional sharpening. Overall, I am happy that I purchased this set.

There is one caveat. I also do quite a bit of cooking and have large hands. After using the Shuns for a couple of months, I have come to the conclusion that the Wusthof Grand Prixs fit me better and feel sturdier. I cannot really justify having two sets of expensive knives around the house, so we will be keeping the Shuns. My advice: Go to Sur La Table or Williams-Sonoma and handle the knives yourself. Feel the weight, notice the handle shape, and decide what fits you best. There are so many quality manufacturers of cutlery now that it is hard to go wrong with any of the selections.

Buy Shun Classic 6-Piece Knife Set with Bamboo Block Now

The knives are excellent, as is usual for Shun knives. However, the bamboo block does NOT have the Shun logo (it is a plain bamboo block), and the shears are NOT the Shun Taskmaster Shears -no nutcracker, no bottle opener, no bone cutting indentations. In fact, I got the Shun Herb Shears DM7100 instead. My advice: get the knives, shears, and block separately so you get exactly what you want. The few dollars you "save" by ordering the combo are definitely not worth it.

I'll be honest. I lusted for these knives. I just didn't want to pay $350.00 for this set. However one day I found a timed Gold Box deal on the knives for $199.99 and I snapped them up without the normal spouse check before spending that much money. The spouse has since approved of the purchase.

These knives are incredibly sharp. They use a different steel, VG-10, and are sharpened to a 16-degree angle, much sharper than the normal 22-25 degree angle of most knives. If it matters to you these are also the knives that are used and endorsed by Alton Brown.

One final point. Shun provides lifetime free sharpening for these knives, including return postage. Just ship them to Shun and they will be sharpened. The knife set comes with a honing steel that has a 16 degree guide built into the honing steel. Be sure not to sharpen or hone the knives using normal sharpeners or honing systems. They are set to a different angle.

Want Shun Classic 6-Piece Knife Set with Bamboo Block Discount?

I loved my Shun Classic 6.5" Santoku knife, so I purchased a 6-piece set (except my set came with a 9" serrated bread knife instead of the utility knife). Shun is the best! For the most control and best grip, I was told to hold the knife close to the blade with my index finger on the metal ridge. It seemed a little awkward at first, but it's very comfortable once you get used to it! I love the weight of the knives, the wooden handles, and the sharpness of the blades. They do, however, need to be sharpened occasionally (I judge this by how well they cut through a tomato). I was told that you should use the boning steel every time you use a knife, but I have never used it. Instead I've been using the MinoSharp Plus sharpener, which sharpens the knives extremely well. If I could only have one knife I'd get the 6.5" Santoku (not in this set) because I use it far more often than any other knife. However, the large chef's knife is much better for cutting large, hard foods like squashes and melons. I love the multi-functional scissors (they come apart so you can sharpen them and clean them well), and I like being able to protect my knives and keep them together in the wooden block.

This knife is without a doubt the best knife I have ever handled. It cuts great and there is a good balance when you hold it in your hand. I would definitely purchase more of this brand.

This knife has never failed yet. It gets dull over time, but, it doesn't happen for awhile. I recommend not to slice meat with this knife as it isn't design for it and will wear out quicker.

I use it for slicing my vegetables and just that only. The blade is so sharp and I like the way the handle feels in your hand. Surgical steel, straight edge blade, and keep in mind buy this once and if anything happens to the knife. Do contact their customer service and they'll set you up to send in your knife to get a replacement if it does break on you for any reason.

My whole family loves this knife and will be passed on from generation to generation.

I really liked this knife . . . until the steel blade cracked inside the handle. This is the first time such a thing has happened to me with ANY knife. I would think such a high-priced knife would be better manufactured.

World Kitchen/Ekco 102SP Chicago Cutlery 3'' Parer And Boning Knife

World Kitchen/Ekco 102SP Chicago Cutlery 3'' Parer And Boning KnifeThis company is NOT honest.

The knife pictured on the webpage had the name and model number on the side of the knife. This is required to match our set. The company shipped a knife that does not have the name and model on the side so of course it will not match our set. The knife they shipped is in a package marked Chicago Cutlery but its workmanship is poor and it looks cheap.

I sent an email to the company asking if they could/would send the knife as pictured. They have not responded. That was many days ago.

Know you will be dealing with a company that is not interested in responding to problems

This knife is so valuable to me that I always have at least one unused and hidden away to pull out when the one I'm using disappears. Who knows where knives go--in the case of this one, probably into the pocket of some family member who suddenly realizes how great it is!

This is the best knife Chicago Cutlery has ever made. You will not find a smaller knife anywhere. Great for cleaning out small peppers.

Just what I've been looking for with a nice sharp thin blade. Makes the work easy to do since most paring knives tend to be too thick and hard to work with.

Zoom Infant Feeding Spoon

Zoom Infant Feeding SpoonThe shape of this spoon was perfect for our 16 month old because it was oval and fit into her mouth easily. So many baby spoons are very round and either way shallow or way deep and they bump the edges of baby's mouth and the food falls off, etc. This was perfectly oval and was just deep enough to have a nice-sized bite (but not so deep that baby's lips didn't clear the food off).

Unfortunately, it only receives 2 stars because the spoon handle became discolored after only 2 weeks of use. It started with a small spot and spread all over the spoon's handle within a week. Although the spoon says it's dish-washer safe, I hand washed mine every time, so I know it got good care.

I gift wrapped this spoon for my sons 1st birthdate because he loves to unwrap things. He got lots of wonderful toys, but kept reaching for the spoon. I finally had to hide it to get him to open hs other presents.

Del Ben Open Air Why 6-Piece Resin Handle Forged Knife Set

Del Ben Open Air Why 6-Piece Resin Handle Forged Knife SetI have bought this item in a retail store (at higher price) and I love it. The design is so simple, but so beautiful, the assortment of the knives is perfect and the quality is among the best I have seen in my kitchen experience. The 8" chef knife is my favorite knife, I use it for everything. It also comes in a very nice package and can be a perfect gift!

Lunch on the Go 1 Kit

Lunch on the Go 1 KitI have almost all of the fit and fresh lunch to go containers and they really make taking food to go a lot easier.

I handwash everything and do not have problems getting my containers to stack or close like another reviewer said. The two small containers only fit on top of the icepack. When I made a big salad in the bottom, I just put the icepack on top, then my two filled small containers and the outside lid. Easy.

I bought the first one a couple weeks ago at a brick & morter store and then bought two more this weekend so I can pack one for my husband too. Hopefully he won't mind the purple lid.

I wish it had a place to stow away cutlery, but for five or six bucks, it's just fine.

I have not had any complaints about the containers. I really like the size and the freezer packs in the lids. they are easy to open and close.

The containers look great, but once filled they do not clip togetherEven with the suggested measurements. They are poorly engineered. Believe me, I never complain about things, but I ordered two different stack and go containers from this company and they both experience the same problem. You will be very disappointed if you order these, and I can't believe SparkPeople is endorsing them.

Fox Run Brands Adjustable Cheese Slicer

Fox Run Brands Adjustable Cheese SlicerFinally found one that is adjustable. Had one for about 30 years just loved it but sadly it finally broke. Tried several different kinds none worked took them back. Glad I found this one hope it lasts. This has spare wire so hopefully it will be around for another 30.

I was disappointed in this product. The wire just won't remain tight... The slices get bigger and bigger, regardless of adjustment.

Inexpensive and held up in the dishwasher just fine. Was worried about not being stainless steel but it's fine. Would buy again

It will slice your cheese and even comes with a replacement wire. However, overall the unit is cheap. For instance, the backside of the handle is hollow (i assume to save on material costs) and the adjustable bit is a bit flimsy. I'd recommend spending a bit more to get a better quality product. However, it does slice cheese and has not broke yet. Just feels and looks cheap.

Want Fox Run Brands Adjustable Cheese Slicer Discount?

Came with a loose wire. I tried to tighten the wire, with no luck. My husband also tried to tighten the wire and was unsuccessful. The screw used to adjust the width of a cheese slice does not stay tight. I would not recommend this item.

Schmidt Brothers Cutlery, SURAC01, Urban Block, Acrylic Display Block

Schmidt Brothers Cutlery, SURAC01, Urban Block, Acrylic Display BlockJust the contemporary knife block for a modern kitchen that is practical and looks great on the counter like art.

We wanted to ditch the old wooden block and had tried a cork box draw version for our knives, but we missed the convenience of something on the counter. We hated the plastic block versions and did not want to drill into the back splash, so when I saw the magnetic standalone style I was all over it. I reviewed a lot of feedback for these styles and liked what I saw in this model. The magnets are just strong enough for our Henckels knives; they snap in place and come off easily. Both sides can be used so we have our steak knife set on it too. It looks lovely on our small modern counter I'm so pleased I found this!
