Mundial 5610-10 Cook's Knife 10"

Mundial 10-Inch Cook's Knife with Wide Blade, BlackGourmet magazine recommended this fine Brazilian knife. Only $24 for the plastic-handled one and about $42 for the nicer fused wood handle, but they are the same knife. You can get them slightly cheaper at other sources, but there you have to pay shipping, so Amazon is the best bargain!

It is sharp and easily sharpenable, good thickness of steel for this sized blade. The upper edge of the blade has quite sharp 90 degree corners, so you may want to do as I did--grind off the sharp corners and polish it more rounded to allow comfortable left hand pressure on the blade while cutting.

A great knife for the price!

I got this knife for my nephew who is in his last semester of culinary school. He saw it feature at the Bon Appetit Magazine recently and while he like it and says it works great, he was not expecting it to be so big. Like it says, the blade is 10" but the handle adds another 6"7". It looks like a machete.

The box it came in was also huge. I will be happy the day amazon do a better job boxing stuff in better packaging instead of sending single items in outreageusly big boxes, full of air bags or extra brown paper.

This knife is well made and came very sharp out of the box. It holds an edge and is well balanced.

First off, the size noted, 10-inch, is the BLADE! Not the overall length. My bad. That means it's BIG. But boy, is it SHARP! I'm getting used to the large size but kind of wish I'd purchased the 8-inch instead. I definitely should have noted the dimension of 19" on the product site. Regardless, chopping veggies or slicing meat is WAY easier (and more fun!) now that I have it. It seems well made and is comfortable to hold so I'm not concerned about slipping and shortening a finger or something. I'm sure real cooks would love it.

Forschner Victorinox Steak Knife 4 1/2" Serrated Blade. Plastic Handle, Blue

Forschner Victorinox Steak Knife 4 1/2' Serrated Blade. Plastic Handle, BlueThey are so sharp! They cut and slice well. These were just the knives I was looking for and they did not disappoint me. Really liked the blue handle too.

I have been using these knives for 20 years! I lived in the UK for the past 19 years and when I moved to the USA, I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to find them here. I can't be in my kitchen without it! They are easy to handle and have a great non slip grip. They are sharp and can cut even tough things easily. I find the knife very easy to control, which is great for safety. Highly recommended!

Oneida Act I 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Oneida Act I 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1When I got married 10+ years ago.. I registered for this pattern, but only received the hostess set and 3 place settings. Over the years other silverware has come and gone... but my husband and I still rush to get the "good forks" every night.

In a nutshell, this set is stylish, has a great heavy feel, sturdy and holds up with regular use plus it has a lifetime guarantee. The forks and spoons aren't too large (I tend to like smaller silverware). I would recommend it to everyone and Amazon has a great price. It's listed as $88 at my local department store. Buy some and enjoy!

The Oneida Act I flatware is the most beautiful flatware I've ever seen! I absolutely love it and my family and friends that have seen it love it, too. If you buy it, make sure you buy extra pieces because, as someone stated, this particular flatware has been discontinued.

I registered for Act 1 when I got married in 1978. We received four place settings and four ice tea spoons as gifts. Since then, I have added additional place settings and accessory pieces so I now have service for 10. The marriage did not last but the flatware certainly did.

I love these pieces and enjoy using them everyday. But buy carefully Act 1 was discontinued by Oneida a few years ago. If you are trying to build a new set, you may not be able to find enough pieces. Good luck! I hope you love it as much as I have.

Trudeau Cheese Spreaders, Set Of 4

Trudeau Cheese Spreaders, Set Of 4I bought these to have for a cheese ball over Christmas but plans got changed and I didn't end up using them. I really wanted to try them out so I made a baked brie appetizer for our New Years celebration and these speaders worked wonderfully! They're just small enough to not feel overpowering to the dish it was used in, yet they are very sturdy so you won't feel like they might break if you are trying to dig into a harder cheese or in my case a baked breading exterior. I had initially looked to get a themed spreader to use for the holidays but then thought it would be best to get a simple, generic kind of design that can be used year round. The fact that this set came with 4 speaders at such a great price was what sold me on them and I'm really glad I decided to go with these and not holiday themed ones so that now I know I can use them anytime.

I ordered these spreaders to wrap individually with homemade jellies and jams for Christmas gifts. Will serve the purpose well.

Love these spreaders! Just what I was looking for. Even my husband, who has huge hands, has no problem with them. I do handwash them because, in my opinion, they are a bit small to stick in the dishwasher. My only complaint is that I was expecting red as was pictured. I received black. Not a huge deal, but it would have been nice had the description indicated that others colors may be shipped.

Oneida Colonial Boston 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8

Oneida Colonial Boston 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8BUYER BEWARE! These are being offered at a low price because they are actually 18/0 stainless steel, not 18/8 as Amazon specs incorrectly state.

The numbers 18/0 and 18/8 refer to the percentage of content of chromium and nickel. To be classified as stainless steel, the metal must contain at least 11% chromium (no nickel required). Stainless steel used in cookware is normally 18% chromium and 8% to 10% nickel.

Low end stainless steel cookware, mixing bowls, stockpots and accessories are usually 18/0, which are usually not highly polished, and could be subject to some rust spotting.

This is the third time I have purchased this pattern, the first two times having been a number of years ago. It is very similar to my sterling pattern, International's 1810; but as the price of silver increased over the years, I could not afford to add to my sterling. Boston Colonial was attractive and affordable for our growing family.

I went ahead and purchased it again in spite of negative comments here because I needed it for a visit from children and grandchildren. The set is basically attractive, and I have found that differences between the new set and my old set are not readily apparent in normal use. However, I agree with those who are disappointed in the downgrade of this pattern. Pieces feel lighter, particularly the knives, and the effort to make the knife handles look as hefty as their predecessors is unfortunate.

I have had the set only about a month so can't really assess its durability. However, so far I don't notice many scratches; and I am washing it in the dishwasher without seeing any corrosion.

I ordered this set because Amazon specs say it's 18/8 steel. However, when I received it, the box says 18/0 which is much lower quality. The pieces look really nice, and I wonder if maybe the box is wrong. Can't know so I'm sending it back.

I received this set and returned it within a month. It started rusting. I finally went to the Silver Superstore on line. They have a line of flatware that is made in the USA. Unfortunately, after Oneida closed their USA plant, it has become harder to find flatware that isn't made in China, Vietnam or Indonesia. Check out silversuperstore.com. They have a whole section of "not made in China" flatware.

Want Oneida Colonial Boston 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8 Discount?

This flatware set is the same pattern I have had in the past. I was given some when I went away to college and they were great. The set I have were stamped S.S.S made in USA by Oneida and were virtually care free, just use em throw em in the dishwasher and rinse and repeat. Normally I don't take time to review, but this set is so bad I just have to warn anyone looking at this item. This set I bought from amazon is absolute garbage, they were terrible from the moment I took them out of the box. They were clearly very poorly made. First of all the box says they are 18/0 steel which is not what I ordered, the utensils themselves say 5/10 made in Indonesia and the website here said 18/10...very confusing. So I looked it up, Oneida's website classes them as casual flatware, which is listed as 18/0. The pieces themselves looked like they had been quickly polished, or dipped in some kind of plating that was not on the handles. The handles look more like brushed steel, and there were definitely a difference between the handles and the business end. Also, the handles were rough and sharp on some sides, and smooth on others with no consistency at all. They were also covered in spots with a black soot that might have been from the forging but did not come out with washing. I should have sent them back but I'm new to amazon and don't have a lot of time and I did not wan to mess with it for 50$. So I kept them...and things got worse.

A mere 4 weeks after purchase, I had washed them about 3 times (I don't go through a lot of utensils)and I began to get rust pitting on the spoons, clear evidence of the poor quality steel. I am using a dishwasher with a main brand of regular gel detergent, nothing fancy. The knives however were even worse! On some of the knives I got SEVERE rusting ALL up and down the handle to the point where its not even usable. Its to the point now where I find new degradation on every wash cycle, yet my old utensils Ive had for a decade are just as perfect as when I got them. The bottom line, this set is absolute garbage and I would not recommend this set to anyone. In fact, I am going to call Oneida and tell them how bad their product really is.

In regards to amazon, my order shipped out slower than EVERY other company I've ordered from online. The price was good which is why I purchased here and others seem to like Amazon but it has not been a great experience for a first time buy, I'm very skeptical about what you can get on here but ill give it another chance.

Togiharu Virgin Carbon Steel Gyutou

Togiharu Virgin Carbon Steel GyutouI took the next step to full carbon steel versus high carbon stainless (HCS). I have other Togiharu knives and knew that the fit and finish would be very nice. Indeed, this gyutou is beautiful but also very functional.

The whole knife is light for its size and well balanced. The edge is thin and holds its shape very well. It is like an oversize scalpel.

The down side to carbon steel versus HCS is the staining aspect. Some foods change the color of the blade while others can give it actual rust quite quickly. I have to always clean it right after I use it. In fact, Bar Keepers Friend does a great job in shining it back up.

I know that some chefs prefer carbon blades but I wonder how they take care of them while using them throughout their shift. I'm certainly glad I bought the Togiharu Virgin Carbon Gyutou. It's one great knife and I'll continue to take care of it to keep it that way.

One last note. Togiharu is a great company. If you don't want the hastle of carbon steel, consider the Moly or Inox lines that Togiharu offers. As said by many people, Korin is a great place to buy a knife.

Oneida Satin Dover 20-Piece Stainless Flatware Set , Service for 4

Oneida Satin Dover 20-Piece Stainless Flatware Set , Service for 4I bought my original Oneida Dover satin flatware a few years ago. I wanted something pretty but not as demanding as sterling silver. I only use it a few times a year. I needed some additional place settings for Thanksgiving, so I ordered them online. After receiving them, I noticed that the raised floral design on some pieces was inconsistent. For instance, what was supposed to be a flower was just a flattened disk. And in fact, when comparing the old flatware with the new set, which was made in Viet Nam, it is obvious the patterns are not exactly the same. The "Easy Care Tips" that came in the box said to avoid detergents containing lemon, avoid prolonged contact with acidic foods, wash the flatware separately from aluminum, sterling or silverplate, never let your flatware soak, even in plain water, do not store in plastic, wash and dry immediately after use, etc. All and all, it seems to be every bit as demanding as sterling silver, if not more so. Every time I use this flatware, I will have to jump up from dinner to wash and dry it to avoid pitting, corroding, or discoloration. I would rather be able to spend a little time socializing with my company, and wash dishes after they leave. I purchased Oneida because I still have a set that my mother gave us around 30 years ago, and you don't have to baby it like this.

I registered for Oneida Dover 7 years ago when I became engaged. I bought it because it looked similar to the pattern my mother had.

When I got my first place setting in person, I was a tiny bit disappointed that it wasn't exactly the same as the ones my mother had. I put it back in the box, planning to think over whether to exchange them for a different pattern. They ended up sitting in a cabinet... for 7 years.

Just a few weeks ago, I pulled them out again... and was absolutely delighted with them. They are the perfect weight and feel in your hands. They are delicate and beautiful, but not *too* frilly/girly/ornate (or my husband might protest!). Just pulling a spoon or fork out of the drawer is a thrill... they are little works of art. They really are the perfect flatware that will become a family heirloom... how many family heirlooms do you have the joy of using several times a day? I've now purchased more place settings to complete the set. My only regret is that these sat unused and hidden away for 7 years... I could have been enjoying these every day all that time!

Winco 12-Inch Fine/Grain Knife Sharpening Stone, Medium

Winco 12-Inch Fine/Grain Knife Sharpening Stone, MediumFirst of all, this is a big stone. It's 12 inches long and it weighs over 3 lbs. It is not a natural stone. I like to use oil on a stone, and this stone soaked up an enormous amount of oil. Don't use sharpening oil; use 2 cycle motor oil, the kind that is mixed with gasoline. I don't think water would work to keep this stone from clogging up. All that being said, it does what you would expect: it puts a pretty good edge on a large knife without too much work. It's a pretty soft stone so it's hard to say how long it will last before it losses its flat surface. Knives sharpened on this stone need a few strokes on a finer grit natural stone to finish the job. No instructions included.

***Knowing how to sharpen a knife is a skill that must be learned, I do not recommend purchasing this if you do not currently know how to use it OR do not intend to learn. You will only ruin your knives, or at best, require the assistance of a professional to repair them.***

This 12" non-natural stone is ideal for replacing an edge on your cutlery or sharpening tools such as axes or pruning sheers. It can be used with oil, if you use it, plan to use it, or even would ever consider using it on a piece of cutlery that MIGHT contact food, DO NOT USE INDUSTRIAL OILS! ONLY USE FOOD GRADE MINERAL OIL. It can also be used with water very well, adding a few drops of household dish detergent to the water will help it stay with the stone and reduce some friction as well as aid in keeping the stone clean/free of metal particles. Out of the box, the stone should be "dressed", this can be done with a dressing stone or with the blade of some old tool... ax, lawn mower blade, etc. before using it on an expensive knife.

This stone cuts quickly and is ideal for the ultra-wear-resistant German stainless steel used to produce some of the worlds most renowned cutlery, Wusthof, Henckel, etc and will allow you to repair and resharpen your knives quickly. I would avoid this stone for use with any knife of Japanese make, the steel such knives are made from is very susceptible to wear and should not be sharpened on *whet* stones any courser than 750 grit, the grit of this stone is improvidently 80/150grit.

Pros:

1) Large at 12" long

2) Hard, very slow to wear, with proper care, the average person will get a few lifetimes out of this stone.

3) Easy to clean and maintain.

4) Consistent, even texture through out the stone.

5) Heavy... it makes a great paperweight when dry and not in use...

Cons:

1) Does not fit in most stone holders.

Bottom line, I would recommend this stone to anyone who knows how to use a sharpening stone to sharpen knives/tools and the difference between sharpening German and Japanese knives, for your German knives and many of your tools, this will not disappoint you.

Buy Winco 12-Inch Fine/Grain Knife Sharpening Stone, Medium Now

I have several abused knives with terrible edges on them, and this stone is exactly what I needed. The stone I received is grey and black and marked Winco #83, not purple like the one pictured. The black side is very coarse for removing a lot of metal quickly. The grey side is medium, not what I would call fine.

After some practice with a couple junk knives, I was able to restore a proper bevel to the edge of my kitchen and pocket knives. Then all it took was a little finishing with my hard Arkansas stone to put a sharp edge on them.

I would not buy this as your only stone, as the "fine" side is not fine enough for finishing. However, the size made it easy for a novice sharpener like myself to get a good bevel. Buy this stone, and another fine one for finishing, and you will be set.

Final thought: This thing is a sponge, and will absorb a ton of water. I definitely would not use oil on it.

This sharpening stone is 2 sided, coarse and medium. This stone is great for yard tools and very beat up blades, but I found even the finer side to be to coarse to put fine cutting edge for my kitchen knives. It will quickly fix a damaged edge but after using this you need to use a finer stone or a good stop to get a really sharp edge.

This stone arrived well packaged and on time.

Plastic Safety Bagel Knife 636Your fingers may not get cut, but the bagel does...although quite a bit of pressure is needed and the bagel gets a little mishapen.

I love ordering from Amazon but am now leery of their secondary vendors. This knife broke at the handle while slicing a sheet cake! We don't normally have bagels but I've had a knife like this before and used it on baked items without issue. I would think a sheet cake is easier to slice than a bagel... Norpro Icon Cut N Slice Flexible Cutting Boards, Set of 3

Norpro Icon Cut N Slice Flexible Cutting Boards, Set of 3I was really leery about these mats, but find we are using them every day. They wash well in the dishwasher. Their flexibility is great while cooking... especially when you're putting cut up food into very hot pots. They take up virtually no room to store.

Maybe I'm lucky, but Amazon shipped these in a flat box, instead of rolled up. So, the mats go back to laying perfectly flat after temporarily curling them to carry chopped veggies. Like competition brands, they work very well as cutting boards.

Semi transparent to show the counter top underneath, which is great only if the counter tops themselves look nice :). Understated designs without technical pie charts, and cheap enough to leave out for placemats under the flour crockery. A stack of 3 are still thin enough to stack on top of our pull out cutting board and still be able to slide the board back in for storage out of sight.

Some may call me lazy, others may call me efficient. For me, I just don't like dish washing. In any event, I placed two of these brand new, used-only-once mats into our dishwasher only to find that the product came out looking like a pair of wrinkled jeans.

Aside from that, they are great. The small fish/meat/vegetable icons are very useful. Just make certain you know that these mats will have to be hand washed to keep them clean.

I changed to the flexible cutting mats when they first came out and never use the others, ever. These are so easy to just pull out, little space needed, sanitary, fold for spout to pour in bowl. I can use one for cutting veggies, use another to cut meats, another for making pies or cookies...then just rinse and put in top of dishwasher in just a few seconds. I still am using my first set from years ago. No more wooden cutting boards for me.

Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 8-Inch Chef's Knife

Calphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 8-Inch Chef's KnifeSince I was planning to spend a few days in a commercial kitchen, and my 6" Henckels knives are both embarrassingly small for serious work and embarrassingly dull because I'm too lame to sharpen them, I decided to grab the 8" chef's knife (at Bed, Bath & Beyond, with a 20% off coupon.)

It worked extremely well for all the tasks I set it to today, including mincing parsley and chiffonading mint as well as the usual cutting tasks. Despite its shallow curve (I strongly prefer knives whose edges are mostly straight, rather than the curved French style) the blade rocked very well for mincing, and was flat enough to cut completely through the rolled mint leaves in one short stroke. Furthermore, the sharpness impressed the other people who used it, though we shall have to see if it can be REsharpened to the same degree.

The handle design is clearly not for everyone, but I found it very comfortable when I held the knife as many cooks do, with the back end of the blade pinched between thumb and forefinger(s). In particular, most knife handles/bolsters seem to be designed for people who grip knives solely by their handles but the integrated bolster made it feel *right* to grip knife at the blade. The handle *seems* to be just the right weight to balance the blade, but I'll reserve judgment on whether it actually IS that well-balanced until I've spent more than a few hours using it.

I'm impressed enough with the 8" chef that I'm considering getting the block set, which includes the chef and a paring knife (I have no idea if the handle design will work well for that, though) as well as three other not-entirely-useless knives: 5.5" serrated, 6" utility, 5" santoku (which probably would have been great for the chiffonade.) I must admit a 6" chef is probably marginally more useful than a 6" utility, but it's nice to have at least one knife you're willing to hand to your less skilled friends. It also has a diamond hone, which will actually sharpen knives, not just align their edges (though I use a DMT diamond hone for sharpening.)

I find this assortment considerably more useful than many others, which include things like boning knives, carvers and bread knives--all of which are IMO far too specialized to include in a basic knife kit, especially for home cooks. The only shortcoming of the block set is the inclusion of laughably dubious kitchen scissors. I hope that Calphalon will see fit to add to the line at least a 10" chef, and a 9-10" santoku, but most of the funkily ergonomic (or just funky) knife lines I've looked at don't have those, alas.

I have no idea if I'll continue to like this knife as it enters daily use. I hope that Amazon will let me revise my rating later if it turns out to be overly optimistic, but based on this one afternoon's use (and since they force me to rate it) I'll give it five stars.

~ Kiran

I am not a professional chef but am a foodie who loves to cook. My wife noticed the way I ogle the fine knives when we are out shopping and so decided to surprise me with this knife for Christmas. I have used it several times in the last few days and my initial impression is "what a great knife"!

Specifically, here is what I like about it:

1. The edge expertly sharpened right out of the package. It cuts cleanly and easily. The core in made of VG-1 steel. VG-1 is high carbon steel which should take a very nice edge when resharpening is needed.

2. The Damascus style stainless steel layers provides a degree of rust and stain protection and has great eye appeal.

3. The handles integrate with the blade without the use of rivets or other fasteners. I have fairly large hands and the shape of the handles are very comfortable for me.

4. The wedge shaped bolster, integral to the blade, is fantastic for people like me who mainly use a pinch grip on the rear of the blade.

5. The knife has a good heft to it without being so heavy that it is tiresome to use.

I am rating this knife 4 stars instead of 5 simply because I have only been using it for a week and would want to use it for a while to confirm it is as good of a knife as I think it is.

i've had my 8" katana for about 4 years now, and i'm just as much in love with it as the day i bought it. like others have mentioned, it's amazingly sharp right out of the package, and i can confirm that a few swipes with a steel bring it right back up to speed years later. beyond keeping it out of the dishwasher and only using wood cutting boards, i certainly don't baby my knives i generally forget to wash it and put it up right away, things dry on it, etc. still, it cleans up and sharpens up with no problem. the unique handle shape (wider at the butt, narrower at the bolster) means it's comfortable for either a standard handle-grip or for the "chefs grip" where the knife is pinched between the thumb and forefinger right at the back of the blade in front of the bolster. unfortunately, this handle shape also means it might not fit quite right in a standard knife block (it does in mine, but it doesn't in a friend's).

my best advice: go to the store and pick one up in your hands! everyone has different fingers, and some knives will be more or less comfortable to you get ones that work for your hand shape and grip style. personally, i hate most wustof & henckels knives for this very reason, since i find their squared-off cross-sections very uncomfortable. this one, though, feels great in the hand to me, and has served me well for quite some time.

I am no chef, just a granny who cooks huge meals regularly for a very large extended family. The knife was a gift over a year ago and I love it. It has become something of a workhorse for me and after all this time and use (almost daily) it has begun to lose just a little of it's edge. I also have very small hands(my eight year old grandsons hands are the same size as mine, which he finds amusing) and I don't have any problems handling the knife. This knife and an ancient, but very reliable faberware paring knife are practically the only knives I use. I cannot say about how a professional chef would view or rate this knife. I have a sneaking suspicion that our chopping and cutting techniques would be VERY different, but for the kind of cooking I do, this knife has been wonderful, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others like myself.

I bought this to replace a damaged Eberhard Schaaf Goldhamster knife, thinking that the replacement would be "just OK". The Katana is fantastic! Super-sharp out of the box, nicely balanced, with a wide bolster to easy the pressure on my forefinger when I have to apply a lot of pressure. Looks good, if a bit "different" next to my collection of classic Schaaf knives. However, I'm probably going to buy more of these over time, so it'l look less strange.

18 months later, I am still in love with it. The knife feels like a natural extension of my hand, and is super-comfortable. The blade does;t seem to stay sharp for as long as the Schaaf knives, but maybe that's because I use it far more. Five minutes with a Spyderco Sharpmaker and you could shave with it, so no big deal.

If it doesn't hold up for the next 20 years, I'm going to buy another.

Peacock Flatware, Sold by the Dozen

Peacock 18/10 Stainless Steel Teaspoons-1 Dozen PackThe spoons are fine, but these guys charged me almost as much in freight as the spoons themselves cost.

The second order i placed was through a different company.

Never again !

The Oneida stainless I received as a wedding present lasted us for a long time. Then, we moved to a place with caustic water, and it succumbed piece by piece to the minerals in the water.

I started looking for stainless that would be able to stand up to the water, and I found this Peacock flatware. I ordered spoons and forks, as those were what had been eaten up the most by the water.

I've moved several more times since, but recently realized that I had only 5 dinner knives left from my original dozen. Afraid that Peacock flatware was no longer made, I did a search. I was so happy to find it!

I received the knives. As you see in the picture, the peacock design is not imprinted as deeply into the knife handles, but that's alright. They are very nice knives.

Rada Cutlery Regular Paring Knife, Made in USA (Pack of 2)

Rada Cutlery Regular Paring Knife, Aluminum Handle, Made in USAThese are sharp knives, physically as well as artistically...

We have a paring knife like this that I think my folks had from the 1970's, it is dulled in color but awesome for cutting up apples, fruits, veggies, etc. A woman at work several months back had a catalog and I bought one, and wanted some more.

The handle is polished aluminum, and the blade is thin and very sharp. It is hard to find a good paring knife at the general local store most paring knife blades are too short, and also too THICK so when you want to cut up an apple, say, it jams up and doesn't work very well.

We only hand wash them; the RADA site recommends to only hand-wash the aluminum ones. Then it is ready for action instead of having crusty old food on it...

These are thin and sharp, and are awesome for cutting up foods. The price is also very reasonable, more so for the 2-pack. Go ahead and buy 2, otherwise when you like the 1 then you'll have to pay another shipping cost. So overall, a very satisfied customer.

I Started with Rada Knives as a fundraiser and from the first slice I was hooked. These are light weight and feel good in the hand, the grip is perfect for those with hand issues. Slicing is a breeze as the knife is so sharp it actually does the work for you. You should be careful as it easily slices through bones in meat it will slice a finger too as I have had this happen. Handwash these to maintain the finish on the handle. I store these with the cardboard protector on it ot in a knife block eith the edge up (upside down) as taping sufaces will dull any knife. Price you can't beat it! Quality It's here! Made in USA? Check! This is the only brand I will own!

These knives are super sharp and are nice looking. Definitely a great buy, especially for the price. The packaging says you should hand wash them, but they've fared well in the dishwasher so far.

I like this paring knife because the blade is very sharp, it is made in the USA and the handle is metal which makes it easy to recycle when the time comes. I would have given it a 5-star rating except I feel the metal of the blade is not thick enough. Sometimes it flexes which leads to miscuts or makes the start of a slice hold.
