Set of 5 Cheese Knives - Stainless Steel with Rosewood Handles

This set is beautifully constructed and appears to be made by Chicago Cutlery, which is the manufacturer of another set I own that is no longer being sold.

The blades are both sharp and sturdy. I have used the knives/cutters on different densities of cheeses and the right knife for the right cheese works perfectly. Among the cheese densities I have used them on are soft cheese (brie), medium (gorgonzola) and harder cheese (Parmigiano-Reggiano). The spreader (second to the left in the photo above) is superb for mascarpone and spreads like cream cheese and herb style spreadable cheeses. The small fork in the set looks cool but I honestly have to say that I have never used it, nor have I witnessed any of my guests using it.

You definitely need to hand wash the knives and other tools. I fear that even one cycle in a dishwasher would damage them. They are easy to clean by hand so this requirement does not diminish their utility or value as far as I am concerned.

Overall, if you entertain or like me have a cheese addiction this set is great. I will disclose that I purchased my set locally and paid more than these are going for here. I also seem to collect cheese knife sets, so I have more than a few with which to compare this set and can attest that it's a value. Also, if you are a serious cheese connoisseur you may want this set plus Boska Holland Explore Cheese Set, which will add additional cutters to your arsenal.

TBCL Utility Knife 17 Centimeters

I think $100 knives are hype so I took a chance on these more moderately priced knives and I believe it was worth it. They are the most expensive knives I have and now I have two of the utility knives (did give one away though), one of the boning knife, and one of the 15cm kitchen knife. You have to be careful with these knives because once they start cutting they will slide through, so you have to have good control and positioning or will cut yourself. The bad is that the one 17cm utility knife I'm using came with a not so perfect blade though it's still very sharp. It has like three tiny knicks that are hard to see. The blades are thinner then normal blades but I was hoping the material be harder then this. Another problem is that even after washing/drying the utility knife after every use there is a tiny spot on the blade with a small discoloration in the metal. I wonder if it was used for something it shouldn't have been used for or maybe the crafting was bad. The first utility knife didn't have the same problem and is slightly sharper than the imperfect one. Other reasons I chose these knives were their all metal construction and good grip. They are well weighted (on the light side). They have a sharp tinging echo to them when you hit the blade with a fingernail, different then most other knives. This makes me think the handle is hollow and maybe welded onto the blade. Comparatively, my mom has two dollar asian knives (extremely good knives) and those are almost as sharp as these and probably much easier to sharpen. So there is a question of value when I bought these but still think my purchase was well worth it. I hope they last a long time and I won't have to break out my sharpener. I have 15 dollar big company knives I bought at the local store and I thought I was rip-offed in terms of usability! btw the boning knife is thicker then the other two knives and none of the knives have the indentation pockets that reduces food stickage. I think for my next blades damascus steel or ceramic blades will be something i will look into.

I've used some of the finest knives made, and this one is right up there with the best, but at a more reasonable price than many. The blade is NOT too thick don't know what that's about. I am a female with smallish hands and I find it absolutely balanced and easy to work with. And a knife is SUPPOSED to be as sharp as possible dull knives are the most dangerous! I just love it and use it every day, in fact bought a whole set just based on how pleasing this one is to use, not to mention to look at! BIG RAVES!!

The top edge of the blade is too thick, so you often need two hands to slice things. The cutting edge sharpness seems fine, but it's too heavy and the balance is not quite right (blade heavy). After using the Mac knife, I'm spoiled. Spend the extra money (not much!) and get the Mac knife which is a top quality knife and the best value on the market right now. It's in a different league.

I purchased this item with my credit card points, because I was not sure if it would be a good use of money otherwise; now that I have one, I can say it would definitely be a good purchase.

The set is great to look at and makes me laugh. You can pick up a shaker at a restaurant supply store for under $4.00, so it did not bother me that one was missing in this set.

*side note the wmf sticker was extremely annoying to remove from the top of the holding tray.

Very cool looking design and high quality!! Each tool is heavy and made to last, and has a good feel when using them. The jigger is very convenient to use since it is attached to a rod. I haven't seen it designed this way before, but it sure works well (just pour and twist!) The spring on the strainer seems extra fine, and thus allows less small chips of ice through than the average. The ice bucket is on the small side, and will need to be refilled frequently if you're making a lot of drinks, but it sure looks good! All-in-all great quality, functional, and artisticly designed to be a great conversation piece. Everything you need to set up a home bar except a shaker set.

Furi Tech Edge Restorer Replacement

I saw it but did not believe the product actually worked. I was pleasantly surprised. I now have two of the Furi Tech products including the restorer.

Believe me they both work and work well. I am using old knives that I long ago thought could not be sharpened...they cut now like a razor. I would recommend purchasing the restorer for those knives that have long ago lost the angled edge and the diamond 'fingers' for keeping the edge on a regular basis. Wish I could find the replacement for the fine edge fingers.

Pure Komachi 2 Series Citrus Knife

I have several of these knives....bread knife, paring, slicing. I love the quirky colors, they make me giggle....

We have had this for a year or two now, and it still works well. It's light and fairly sharp for its age (never resharpened it). We don't have a dish washing machine, so I can't attest to its longevity under that type of washing.

The non stick coating won't last forever, but I can say it will last a few years, anyway.

We mainly use this knife on lime, lemon, sandwiches, tomatoes, etc.

bottom line-

can't beat it for the price. don't hesitate if it looks right to you.

Generally speaking, all of the Komachi knives are amazing. This knife is great not only for cutting fruit but is great for day to day cutting jobs. The serrated edge does make it limited with some veggies but for the most part it glides through anything.

Highly recommend, they stay sharp a long time (at least over a year).

Wusthof Culinar 6-Inch Sandwich Knife

Some people might note that you don't really need this particular size and shape knife. If you have an 8" chef's knife, a paring knife, maybe a long carver and a bread knife, you can pretty much do anything. However, to my mind, that is irrelevant to judging the quality of the tool. The Culinar knives are beautiful, superbly balanced, and, in my experience, take a great edge.

This knife is perfect for making a sandwich, carving a modest sized roast, doing many of the things a boning knife would do. Slice a tomato? Done. Cut raw meat for serving size, or for a recipe? No problem. And, with the nearly seamless stainless handle, it's easy to clean to prevent contamination.

I like this knife. I don't use it as often as my chef's knives, or my paring knife, but it is a useful tool, and I'm glad it's in my collection. Additionally, I have read some reviews from people who complained that they had Wusthof knives that were dull, didn't sharpen, or wouldn't hold and edge. This amazes me, and is not at all my experience with their fine products.

Purchased these steak knives because I like the "aussie steak house" knives. The knives are well made. Blade is stiff and features a serrated and honed cutting blade. Handles are comfortable. Handles secured to full tang with three rivets. The knife cuts well and worked quite well on porterhouse steaks. Good price and super saver make this a winner.

These knives are very similar to the ones in steakhouses everywhere. They are beefy, durable and comfortable to use while performing great. We had some nice looking, expensive steak knives that looked nice on a properly set table but the serrated teeth were so fine that steak would get stuck and hard to clean out. These work just fine with both casual and more formal settings. I only bought 8 but think I will order more. Also, I order from Amazon on a regular basis. Chicago Cutlery Essentials 4-3/4-Inch Utility Knife

For the price its a good deal since this and the 3 1/2" paring knife together are under $12 on here and sure do come in handy for smaller kitchen prep work. They sharpen easily and have a good handle. The blade is thin enough to make fine slicing easy but also sturdy enough for tough skinned lemons and limes. I leave one on the bar with a mini cutting board for cocktail prep and its held up well for several years now.

Normally this knife is good. I own one which i got from Walmart and it is super sharp. So wanted to get one more and guess what, I choose to get it from amazon. (Big Mistake). The knife that arrived is like a peice of log does not cut anything. So it would be better to get from Walmart than from Amazon.

I wanted a knife with a non-porous handle for occasional use cutting up melons in season. I don't have use for a knife of this size for other reasons so I did not want to spend a lot of money. I do not think this knife will stand up to a tough watermelon.

The knife blade is too thin for the length. The knife is not sharp. It won't slice a carrot. It splits it instead. The handle is too small for the length of the blade. I don't feel comfortable (safe) using it. I have another Chicago Cutlery knife that I like a lot and that has served me for many years. It is still sharper than the new knife.

I have a set of Resplendence and found this set on Amazon. I was so excited to add to my existing set at such a reasonable price; especially since it's a discontinued pattern from Wallace. Too good to be true :( The box,paperwork,printing looked EXACTLY like the real deal. The flatware was junk! :( It was stamped 18/10 but having real Wallace Resplendence, I could easily feel the weight difference.."extremely light". In addition, the pattern was a poor imitation with shallow detail and the thickness of the pieces were half the proper depth. Wallace Resplendence 18/10 was even stamped on the TOP side of a spoon instead of the underside. What a disappointment. I called Amazon,reported my disgust, and returned it.

We ordered 2 sets and both arrived very quickly. Its sophisticated yet uncomplicated design works well our good china as well as our everyday dishes. I actually think it is nicer in person than in the picture. Pieces are a good weight giving them a very solid feel. We use this flatware everyday and it has stood up well in the dishwasher. We are very pleased with this product.

This product is a bad imitation of the brand name. The knives are too thick; this wouldn't be bad if the blades weren't as dull as they are and could cut the food as easy as the genuine Richardson Sheffield knives do. The blades don't grab any type of food well and the knives slip, making them dangerous. The packaging is deceiving because it shows the laser-cut grooves on the side you see; the opposite side has no laser cut so they will have to be sharpened even when the description says never do it. I agree with the other reviewer; I took them from the package and already can see the red under the coating so they will rust or peel, even if washed by hand. I'm giving them two stars because the size of the parer and the all-purpose are the correct sizes. If you need knives, buy the Laser Soft Touch that are really sharp, but be aware, the smaller size is really a small cook knife, not a standard parer or all-purpose size. Have some 17-year old knives of this brand and are still as sharp as the first day even when I use them to cut anything (even plastic packaging) and wash in dishwasher daily. Very dissapointed about this product. My mistake I didn't use them earlier so I could return the two sets I bought.

A good price and simular to some I bought Eons ago at Kmart. Do get stained or rusty from dishwasher and don't seem to be as sharp. Keeping clean and hope they season in.

These knives are sharp. I have both the serrated and non serrated steak knives. They are the best value of cheap, quality steak knives I have found. The only reason it did not receive 5 stars is I wish the handles were a little bit bigger. Even with my small hands, my pinky finger is right on the edge. The handle could also be a little thicker for more comfort. Overall, I love them and they are dishwasher safe. A word of advise: It's cheaper to buy 3 packs of 2 rather than the six pack.

We were given Rada knives as a gift about 15 years ago and have always referred to them as the 'good knives'. I just ordered an entire set through Amazon and were amazed at how affordable they are. They come surgical sharp and keep their edge for a LONG time. Just hand wash them to keep the handles from greying.

Bottom line: EXCELLENT quality knifes, affordable, and MADE IN THE U.S.A! How can you beat that!

The two-in-one feature is useful as you can also handle pieces of smaller cakes and tarts. Heavier cakes such as a cheesecake require to put the two parts together for more stability thus forming a small edge which makes it a little tricky to get well under the cake. The cutting feature unfortunately is not much of a use as it works only for very soft textures which then require rinsing after each cut to get cuts clean and so you need a knife anyway. That's why I gave it only 4 stars.

LEM Products 32 Tinned Bolt Down Hand Grinder

I bought this meat grinder with the intention of grinding deer meat. I took my time removing the silverskin to limit anything that might clog it. It didn't work well at all. I thought wrongly the large size might make it "heavy-duty" or robust. Instead, the large spiral provided a large area to hold the meat. It didn't really grip and advance the meat forward. I tried pressing the meat down while spinning it, and it merely squished back up around my hand. I tried both the large and small orifice plates. Neither worked well. This unit would not be a good candidate for hooking up to an electric motor either. Near the handle is a plastic bushing (not a bearing). With the extremely rough finish, I expect it would get chewed up quickly. The cheap plastic sausage stuffer attachment doesn't much look like it would hold up. The threads that hold the big retaining nut are super course, it seems they are cast threads. I ended up returning this product.

1. The inside components of the product get rusty easily.

2. This product is very heavy and rough, it was very inconvenient to clean and wash.

3. If you want to return it, the seller will ask you to be responsible for shipping cost. I paid UPS shipped it back.

Made almost entirely of rough castings. Virtually no machining on it. I tried using it to grind pork into sausage. It worked poorly and never did stop wearing and putting metal in the meat. A great deal of the meat stayed inside the grinder. It was very wasteful. This is not the only hand powered grinder I've used, but it was the worst. I returned it for a refund. I wanted a large grinder that would work faster than the old Universal I have. This one was inferior in every way.

Wusthof Precision Edge 2 Stage Knife Sharpener

This sharpener does a good job and, while not the over $300 professional quality, it is excellent for the everyday chef. Great price and did very well with my knives in developing a nice edge. Use the fine section of the sharpener for keeping your knives very sharp. Rarely will you use the coarse part. It's not necessary unless you cut concrete!

Great price for how well it works. If you don't have practice using a steel, then this is a great alternative. Like other reviews, use the fine slot for every day honing. You should check your knife before every use. It doesn't take long and you'll keep it sharper longer. You shouldn't use a knife that isn't sharp. It isn't safe. The sharpener doesn't put a professional edge on your knife, but it does put a consistently even one. This helps the edge last longer. The handle is comfortable and the bottom is made from silicon/rubber that keeps it from sliding. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I would prefer the angle of the sharpening slot to be at a full 90 degrees. It doesn't take any getting used to, however. That's just my preference.

This was chosen because of other reviews. I agree with the determination that this is a fine product. I immediately sharpened an older and dull butcher knife. It required about 10 draws through the course and 4 through the fine to put an extremely sharp edge on the knife. Great results for a good price!
