Cambridge Asher Sand 30-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 6

This silverware was inexpensive, basic and utilitarian. I was a little disappointed because the silverware seems to develop white spots after washing in the dishwasher. I choose it mostly because my son's name is Asher.

This was a wedding gift for someone. The flatware was a really nice gift for a starter set. The couple likes it.

Fiesta Tangerine 6-Piece Steak Knife with In-Draw Tray

These steak knives are sharp and feel great in the hand. I was hesitant to order the "tangerine" color at first, but I've come to really like the color once these came in.

Kyocera Ceramic Santoku Knife-Pink - 5.5 Inch

I bought this knife for my wife, and even though it is increably sharp. I'm afraid that I may inadvertently break the blade by putting any side pressure on it. It hasn't done anything to make me suspect it might break, it just lingers in the back of my mind. That being said, it's easy to clean, can slice anything so thin you can see through it. I'm very pleased, just have to get past the thought of breakage.

I have had knives which dull over time or are very heavy. This knife is so light and chops so well. Everytime someone comes over and uses it, they comment on how great of a knife it is. I want to buy another one because I use it that much. Ceramic is the way to go!

I am in love with these knives. They cut just about everything, they stay sharp, and are easy to clean. Unfortunately, if you aren't careful, they can break. My husband broke my first one in the garbage disposal and I recently broke my second one trying to pry apart two frozen hamburger patties. :( I almost cried, i'm that sad about loosing another one of these knives. I still recommend them highly am currently buying myself another one. I more than got my moneys' worth out of them. I don't use any other knife (even the henckels and wustoff knives i own).

Chef Craft 21526 1-Piece Adjustable Cheese Slicer, White, 8-Inch

We had a zinc cheese slicer that broke after 16+ years of good service (parent hand-me down). I couldn't find a "replica" of the broken slicer until I came to Amazon and found this little "jewel."

We were happy for about two weeks, and then it broke; the zinc that holds the roller snapped, and just like that, it was trash.

Not worth returning; so, I guess we'll have to try again.

Classic Chai Dao Knife - 7"

This is a well-made knife. I expect no less from Wüsthof, and I'm pretty sure the build quality isn't your primary reason for reading a review. What you want to know is: how is it to use?

For comparison, I'll bring in my Shun santoku and Victorinox Forschner Fibrox chef's knife. The chai dao weighs just about the same as the santoku, and more than the Victorinox (everything weighs more than the Victorinox--but that's not a complaint). The balance at the bolster is excellent. The blade is just a shade thinner than that of the santoku, and wider than that of the chef's knife.

For dicing an onion or other softer vegetables, all three knives do a great job, and choosing one of them is a matter of whichever you find more comfortable to hold. I give the chai dao an edge on this (okay, pun intended) because I find the santoku a little uncomfortable to hold at the bolster, and the Victorinox definitely wants to be held by the handle. For dicing carrots, the Victorinox doesn't work as well as the other two because it's lighter, and the heft of the santoku and chai dao knives helps one get through the carrot.

For slicing chicken breast for stir-fry (or whatever you're making), the chai dao shines. When I slice meats I usually have a little wrist action involved as I pull across the flesh, and the curvature of the blade keeps the edge where it needs to be. The santoku's lengthened curve tends to pull away from the board for that, as does the chef's knife; the shorter blade length of the chai dao also seems better suited to this task.

For chopping herbs I find that I'll choose either the chai dao or the chef's knife. I think I like the chai dao somewhat better for this, but I'll need a few more trials to firm up that opinion.

I used the chai dao today to de-bone a pork shoulder I roasted, a task I wouldn't try with the santoku or chef's knife because they're just too long for the task. For the detail work I did finish with a boning knife, but the chai dao did a superior job taking the larger meat chunks off the bone with little effort involved.

So, in my kitchen at least, this is a very useful and usable knife from which I expect to get years of service.

Very good knives at a very good price. Like similar, higher priced knives, hand washing is recommended. Chicago Cutlery merits consideration if you're in the market for these better quality knives.

The knives work fine. The polymer grips makes the knifes feel light weight. The edge on the blades are sharp, but rough. It looks like a low grit grind. It can cut paper, but the sound is of a blade that is sawing through the paper rather than slicing. I'm not a great or even good edge sharpner, but I was able to put a cleaner edge on the blade with some whetstones. The longer paring knife had an odd irregular shape to it. It just might be quality control of cheaper blades letting less than perfect items through. I only really noticed it because I sharpened the knives.

I do like the fact they included reusable transport/storage sleaves.

This was a good fit. They are sharp, easy handling and takes limited storage. I use all three pieces regularly, the paring knife to least as I find the blade could be a bit longer. Deli-Pro Slicing Knife

This serrated knife is very sharp. The cutting guide is excellent for slicing bread evenly, meats, cheeses, even cutting fruit like tomatoes. The guide and adjustment knob make it take up more room in your drawer than usual, but this useful tool will more than replace the knives you have to store in other places.

I bought this knife specifically to cut my fresh homemade bread. Got tired of the uneven slices of hand cutting it with a knife that squashes it anyway.

This worked perfectly! Got the even slices I wanted, and no squashed bread.

We've also used it on other things, such as slicing ham, carving turkey....has worked wonderfully each time.

The dial to adjust the width of the slice is easy to use. Just be careful not to loosen too much or it just comes off. You can easily reattach it, but just beware so you don't lose the screw or something when doing it.

The Ex 5-Piece Knife Set with Unique White Holder Designed By Raffaele Iannello

I fell in love with this at first sight -it resonates with my rather odd sense of humor, I guess. I decided to take a chance on it -I needed a set of decent knives for my "home away from home," and after reading the reviews, I ordered.

It's very sturdy -heavy plastic, it arrives in two pieces, and it takes only seconds to mount the figure onto the base.

The knives are very good quality, nicely weighted stainless steel. The "block" has heavy clear plastic sleeves in back to protect both the knives and the user, and the knives are secured in place with hidden magnets that "grab" each knife as it is slipped in place -nice safety feature.

This is a fairly large unit -14+" tall, about 8-9" in diameter. I purchased the white one, to work with the rest of my counter-top appliances, but it comes in several other colors (red, green, black, chrome).

This would be a great housewarming gift for a divorced friend.

All I have to say is that this knife set is the S-word. Once I found out about it, I knew that I needed one in my life. I had bought one of these at a local store a few years ago to use for camping. But, I took it to a group pie bee and the lid didn't come back with it and the local store stopped selling them. I appreciated finding the same knife here. I love having a knife with a lid for food prep during camping so that I don't cut something else by mistake when all my utensils are in a bag together. I bought this tomato cutting board and loved it the first couple of times that I used it. I thought it was so cute. After that, the tomato "sticker" that was on the back pulled off in places. I couldn't believe it is just a sticker on the back. They could have sealed in on there is some way. I ended up having to pull the whole design off because it looked bad with it pulling off in areas. The legs also pulled off with the sticker since they were attached to the sticker. I NEVER put it in the dishwasher even though it states it is dishwasher safe. It was only hand washed. Now I have a flat, clear cutting board that is difficult to pick up b/c it lays flat on the counter top without the legs.

I have purchased a number of Joseph Joseph Worktop savers. They first came to my attention in the MOMA catalog. I loved the strong vibrant designs but not the designer price. I began searching the internet for alternate (translate cheaper) sources & other designs. I have purchased the Orange slice, Kiwi, Hot Lips, Marilyn & Elvis to name a few & have given many as gifts. They are tough, functional & very eyecatching. I have never had any problems with any of the other designs. The Watermelon however did not live up to its promise of being dishwasher safe. My mother had admired my Orange slice & Kiwi savers but because her kitchen is accessorized in red I chose the Watermelon as the best color for her. The first time she ran it through the dishwasher she noticed a blurring around the edges that she attributed to dampness. The second time the design was really & truly damaged. Apparently moisture seeping or forced between the design & the tempered glass left puddles & ripples & strange white watermarks across the face. Since I purchased it as a gift there was a significant lag between purchase time & the gifting occasion & then by the time the two trips through the dishwasher were accomplished months had elapsed. That's a little too long to return for a refund and since Joseph Joseph is in Britain I guess I am stuck with an expensive Watermelon Rind.

If you really love the design go for it. But handwash only!

Great as a worktop saver for putting hot things on (I use this round one for my crockpot) but don't soak it in the sink to clean it, or the backing (which isn't painted on -it's a sheet of plastic) will separate from the glass and peel off. Don't cut on it, because it will dull your knives. Don't drop it, or it will break.

Alaskan Ulu, Inupiat Style with Polar Bear Etched Handle, 6"

We use is to cut up silver and pink salmon, it is on the small side but this ulu is made solid and it is real firm. Cuts through the silver heads nice. I need to buy a ulu sharpner, I'm not sure if this ulu is snarpened on both sides but a triditional ulu only has one side sharpened. I need to look when I get home.

I use this knife all the time. Also bought some for each of my kids. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and is so often better than a traditional knife because it saves motions and therefore time.

Mikasa Riverside Satin 18/0 45-Piece Flatware Set

I ordered two sets of this flatware. While I thought it was beautiful, I have had issues with the quality of the flatware. The second set arriveded with three pieces that were chipped. It took 6 weeks to get replacements, after countless emails...and the replacements didn't match the originals in style or size. This morning I discovered that the knives are chipping as well.

I hand-wash my dishes and flatware and I have never left the flatware to soak. After I use it, I wipe it off with a paper towel and then place it on the counter for washing. Mikasa advertises that the flatware comes with a lifetime warranty....but I don't want to spend the rest of my life asking for replacements, piece by piece.

I wish I could return BOTH sets to Amazon. I am very unhappy.
