Kuhn Rikon Julienne Peeler with Blade Protector, Stainless Steel Handle

Kuhn Rikon Julienne Peeler with Blade Protector, Stainless Steel HandleI can't say enough good things about this julienne peeler. I first bought an Oxo julienne peeler, and it was really a piece of junk. I used it twice and saw that it was steadily going downhill from the first use (the little tines started bending right at the first usage when only julienning a carrot!), so I returned it right away. I had remembered seeing this much more expensive Kuhn Rikon julienne peeler with much better reviews and decided to give it a chance. Oh my goodness, the difference is amazing. It performs so much better, and I've now used it several times and the tines have not moved a bit out of position. I love the nice all-over stainless steel design. Very functional, beautiful, and looks like it will be very durable also. WELL WORTH the extra money! Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I also used it on zucchini and didn't have any trouble. I took a little bit lighter approach to the zucchini than I would with a carrot since it is a softer vegetable. The way I avoid hurting my fingers is to lay the vegetable on the cutting board and spear one end with a fork. Hold the vegetable by the fork and then julienne away!

Now, to be perfectly frank, I like this peeler. However, it does merit a little extra finger watching when using. I won't call myself an expert cook by any means, but I know my way around a kitchen.

Using this peeler I've managed to cut myself quite a few times. It's not for lack care it just slips sometimes and the sharp, knife-like tines that make the julienne cuts very easily can slide and julienne your fingers or the area between thumb and forefinger.

Again, it's a good piece to have in the kitchen. It just merits a little care in its use.

I julienne lots of carrots so this works great! Seems like there's a bit of a trick to using it w/o having a clump on bottom where all the julienne pieces stick. It depends on how you use it. I was able to mess around with it and get julienne strips no problem. Recommended purchase, am buying several more for family members.

Nice sturdy peeler. Very sharp. It looks like it would last for years to come. The only down size is the Julienne size is a little too thin for Thai papaya salad. I had to return this and got the Kiwi Pro Slice Peeler (perfect size for papaya salad). I found the Kiwi peeler at a local Asian supermarket for 3 bucks.

Want Kuhn Rikon Julienne Peeler with Blade Protector, Stainless Steel Handle Discount?

I love julienned veges, but when dealing with just one carrot (eg for garnish) it seems a tad excessive to assemble a mandoline then do the cleanup (let alone pull out the food processor). This little gadget solves that problem perfectly. I've found the best way with carrots is to peel and trim both ends, then julienne one half of the carrot (working middle to end, rotating a quarter every cut), until you end up with a thin scrawny core attached to the rest of the carrot, which then becomes the handle to julienne the other half of the carrot. I end up discarding the core no real tragedy there since the core is usually a little bitter (and if not, hey, I'll just eat it).

John Boos Au Jus 18-by-24-Inch Maple Cutting Board

John Boos Au Jus 18-by-24-Inch Maple Cutting BoardThis is big, thick, heavy board. It's not the biggest they make but it's right on the edge of huge. If were any larger my wife would have a hard time moving it. So when doing small jobs, we tend to grab one of our smaller boards. Now before this scares you off you need to consider that this may be one of the most used and underappreciated tools in your kitchen. When making a big meal, or when cooking all day, we take this board out and leave it out all day. The groove is deep and ample enough to catch the drippings from a turkey or a large roast. Flip it over and you can chop veggies on it all day. It's been really nice on my knives too. Treat this board well by giving it a light coat of mineral oil and I bet it will outlive you.

Possibly. I find myself caressing it now and then, and pay much more attention to its care than other cutting boards. The 1-1/2" thickness is just right for us, not too heavy and doesn't add too much to the counter height. We've been using both sides, with one side for vegetables and the au jus side for meat and fish. The gutters on the au jus side can probably hold 2 cups of liquid from cutting up BBQ, tri-tips or a turkey. The 18x24 on the island is big enough for 2 people to work on at the same time. I have started noticing the Boos boards on cooking shows and noticed Paula Dean adding another cutting board on top of her 2" Boos. Is that for protection or added height, I wonder... :-)

WOW. I have heard about these boards for a while now but thought what could be different. Well seeing is believing. This is a great board. I used it throughout Christmas Eve and Christmas day. One side for chopping and the other for carving a prime rib.

One note this is a huge board. Make sure you have room for it. I measured out the smaller one and did not think it would work; I thought I ordered the next size up (thinking they would be small jumps in size). This thing is HUGE. Not a major problem for me but I could see someone with a small kitchen having trouble.

I have a feeling I will be ordering another "small" one for daily use.

Orka Mastrad Ceramic Paring Knife

Orka Mastrad A22112 Ceramic Paring Knife, White, 3-InchThe design and functionality of this knife is top notch, I really like it. On Thanksgiving everyone envied it; they loved the blade-cover concept because it travels well (which we all did for the holiday and were cooking together) and stores well. However, even though everyone knows that ceramic is fragile, the next day (the second time I was using it) the tip broke right off. It is a shame but the bigger shame is that I contacted the manufacturer TWICE to find out if there is a repair warranty and NEVER got a reply. I would pay to sharpen the tip! Knife sharpening businesses will not handle ceramic blades, I tried. I was told that if my knife was manufactured by Kyosera, they would repair it.

I looked it up: Kyosera stands behind their ceramic knives and offers FREE repairs because they know these types of knives have their limits and people want to keep them for life. Even though I wasn't expecting Mastrad to replace my brand-new knife (I purchased it only a week prior), I thought they would at least reply or somehow stand by their customer.

Think more than twice before investing in any Mastrad product and as wonderfully sharp as ceramic blades are, buy from a company that understands that sometimes they need repair like Kyosera.

I saw this knife in a flyer for the home show and thought it looked pretty cool, and wanted to try it out.

I was always interested in trying out a ceramic knife, and this is my first one.

I like the idea that the blade folds/gets covered. I think the quality of the knife is a little bit lacking though. The handle has some wear / rough spots where the hinge / friction hold open thing is. (like imagine too big of a pin going into a small opening, causing wear on the area around the hole).

The packaging for this was overkill. It has a fancy magnetic box, and I do not see the purpose of that. Would rather see it in a clamshell and have the price a bit less.

Closing the blade is a little scary. Like it seems like it would be easy to slip then trying to close it. It is hard to initially get the blade to close, and there is really no good way to get a grip between the rubber handle and the hard plastic handle.

Also it does seem like it is meant to be open, more than it is to be closed. I thought it would be a nice knife to take on a picnic and put in a bag, but I do not feel it is fully secure when it is closed.

Lastly the blade itself seems pretty sharp, but not what I was expecting. I have a Shun paring knife that was crazy sharp when I got it. This one just seems sharp. So so far I am not too impressed with the ceramic aspect of the blade.

One thing I would add would be some metal somewhere in the handle so I could stick it to a magnetic knife rack while it is closed.

Not sure if I would recommend it or not at this stage. I think there are better options as far as cheap paring knives, and if you want something for a picnic or camping I would go with Kuhn Rikon Instead.Kuhn Rikon 4-Inch Nonstick Colori Paring Knife, Red

I will update when I use it more.

Buy Orka Mastrad Ceramic Paring Knife Now

If you want a knife that never needs sharpening DON'T BUY THIS ONE.

I got this knife in the mail today, and I was somewhat disappointed in two ways.

#1. I guess I did not understand from the pictures how this knife folded. I expected the blade to fold into the handle, much like a pocket knife, not the handle to fold up over the blade. I like that it protects the blade, but I expected this to be more of a space saving pocket friendly design.

#2. (and this is far worse than #1 in my opinion)

This is my first ceramic knife. I have been intrigued by them but have never bought one. I have a nice set of sharpening stones and can hone steel blades as sharp as a scalpel. Ceramic knives can't be sharpened the same way, but I thought "hey, it might be nice to have a knife I don't have to maintain." The flaw in my thinking is that this knife really isn't very sharp. It will not shave the hairs from my arm, and will just barely slice thru the skin of a tomato(you have to saw a little). This is the point at which I consider my steel knives to need a sharpening. I could have a perpetually dull knife just by not sharpening my existing knives, I certainly didn't need to purchase one that comes dull from the factory and stays dull forever. A serrated knife would be a better purchase.

This is a very well made little knife that slices veggies and the like with ease. The folding part is a bonus as it will protect the sometimes delicate ceramic blade. I love ceramic knives and don't plan on using anything else but they do have a drawback of the tip chipping off if you're not careful. With this there is less risk of that since the blade folds into the handle. I would recommend.

YOSHIHIRO- Hammered Damascus Japanese Sushi chef knife Petty Gyuto SET -MADE IN JAPAN

YOSHIHIRO- Hammered Damascus Japanese Sushi chef knife Petty Gyuto SET -MADE IN JAPANwhere do i start. The hammered damascus is great. Its balance is good and correct weight for a japanese gyutoh. dont expect german kniives weighting because japanese blades are usually much lighter. thin blade and looks to me about a 14 degree angle on the blade. if you want to do heavy prep work which includes chops and boning dont use this knife. it is made for fine prep work.

if u want to cut meat and fish and poultry go get a deba not a gyutoh. great prep knife and extremely sharp out of the box. I ran in it on a 8000 grit whet stone out of the box after and a natural stone after and it so sharp that i can split hair, and shave my entire arm in on pass dont try this at home if youve never done it before with an exteremly sharp knife. all in all 5 out 5 i love it. the petty or fruit/paring knife is also great nice light weight for intricate cuts and super thin slices and vegetable peels. i like it making rolls with petty's way better than a nagiri. buy it cuz for the price you cant beat introductory japanese knife. If you worked alot with japanese knifes go buy ao-ko steel and be prepared to spend at least a thousand or 4k in fact for a real ao ko steel knife.

I recently ordered the sushi chef Petty Gyuto Set from Yoshihiro Cutlery. The hammered Damascus blades are well-made & truly works of art! Both the Gyuto & the Petty are easy to use, even for a complete amateur like myself, cutting effortlessly through everything I've thrown at them. The price was hard to beat, as well, especially after looking at comparable blades from some better-known brands. My only disappointment is that I did not find them sooner!

Like almost everyone who buys this kind of knife, I have many examples of quality cutlery including Wusthof, Zwilling, Kai and Shun, As this was my new condo present for myself, I wanted something really special. The Yoshihiro design is obviously beautiful, and the its balance is great and its handle is surprisingly very good and light,

providing excellent comfort and control. No presure required for cutting and carving. Therefore a 5+ compared to my other knife and hope to enjoy cooking in my new place.

True quality of Japanese workman ship.

After reading several books on knives and food preparation, I was advised to buy knives a la carte. Most chefs will favor the benefits of slowly building a collection of knives that precisely suit your needs, as opposed to buying a set. The two most important of which are the chef's knife and the paring knife.

This Gyuto and petty epitomize the lighter, sharper style of Japanese knives that differentiates themselves from the German styles of major western companies like Wusthof and Henckels. While the petty is slightly longer than the paring, it can serve the same function. Further the craftsmanship is a level above some of the more major brands that have wider distribution. It cuts through tomatoes, onions, and poultry like butter. The Damascus layering is beautiful, and the oak is smooth and polished.

These two knives will provide any chef with a solid foundation upon which to build a top-knotch kitchen knife collection.

Cucina Pro 681 Mezza Pizza Knife

Cucina Pro 681 Mezza Pizza KnifeThe pizza slicer in the illustration is NOT the same product that I received. I know the Cucina Pro brand and they make great products, however, this is not by any standard a high -end porduct. The stainless steel is not heavy gauged if that's what you're looking for. It will definitely slice pizza ,but with a some effort. The box reads for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY, so not commercial obviously. Who knows how long it will last. One last detail , the item does not come with a hole in it , if you decide to hang it somewhere.I will probably return it and get one will a little more steel.

Awesome pizza cutter. If you are tired of stripping the topping off your pizza, get this. It's not as sharp as I would like, but I eat my crust crispy, so It still slices through it easily.

Laguiole Steak Knives-Multi color handles- Made in FranceGave two sets of these as a gift to my daughter...they're very fun and work like a dream. However, I just saw them in TJMaxx for a fraction of the price I paid here. Oh well....

I absolutely adore these knives! Prior to buying this set I'd received another Languiole knife set as a present so I was well aware of their quality and design. To me these knives represent the perfect marriage of function and style. The blade is perfectly sharp and cuts through various cuts of steak and other meats with ease. The handle is also easy and comfortable to hold while also being beautiful. The colors are even more vibrant in real life than they appear in the picture and add a nice pop of color to the dinner table. I also love the little detail of the bee on the handle because it makes the knives seem even more special. I've really enjoyed having these to myself but could also see them being a fantastic gift for a foodie or a fun ad to wedding registry. They're perfect for when I want to pull out my nicer silverware and plates for a sit down dinner, but when I don't want things to seem too stuffy.

Global GS-8 - 3 inch, 7cm Bird's Beak Peeling Knife

Global GS-8 - 3 inch, 7cm Bird's Beak Peeling KnifeI have purchased many Global knives and love them all. For the money I feel like they are hard to beat. However i am very disappointed with this knife. Out of the box this is the most dull Global knife I have ever used. I had a hard time pealing a potato with this knife. I will be purchasing more Global knives I am sure, but I will be purchasing them from a brick and mortar store where I can test the knife before I purchase it as I have my other knives.

This is Ari Aroma, the Sage Chef of Sage Chefs,

I endorse this product all five stars goes to global. Not only does this baby look dangerous, but it works just as good as global's original paring knife, all in skilled hands, of course.

I thought I wanted a "birds beak" shaped knife. However after using it, the curve is useless. There is nothing this knife can do that a straight paring knife cannot do. The turned blade makes it difficult to find the edge while cutting through a fruit or vegetable. Also, this design is very difficult to sharpen.

Global makes a good product, and I have many Global knives that I love. However, this design of knife I would not recommend, pick out a regular shaped paring knife. You will be happier in the long run.

Kyocera Revolution Series 4-1/4-Inch Utility Knife, White Handle and White Blade

Kyocera Revolution Series 4-1/4-Inch Utility Knife, White Handle and White BladeWow. What an incredible slicing knife! Ceramic is amazing and if you havent tried I DEFINITELY recommend this little guy! It is sleek and sharp in design, and will cut through vegetables, meats (without bone), fruits, etc. like butter.

An amazing steal at a this price, and well worth much more -I set the knife down on a tomato and guide the knife through. Its so easy and the knife basically falls through the tomato with no pressure at all! Super sharp and amazing.

Storage is an issue, though, becuase you must store these knives properly so they will not get destroyed or chippped. I recommend investing in a sheath or buying the same brand of knife that comes with one already. I am cheap and havent gotten around to buyingone, so I just keep ours in the plastic case that it came with. Good stuff.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this to family, friends, whoever. Definitely my favorite knife!

It id better than most knives including metal ones . It cuts thru vegis like they arent even there Thanks

Very light weight, good handle, EXTREMELY sharp!! Best knife for cutting boneless meat. Read instructions; knife cuts utilizing a straight slicing motion not intended to carve or chop straight down on tile, glass or plates. Must be used with a cutting board do not use on a cutting mat, the blade will slice through the surface. If you allow children to help with meal preparation I would not recommend that they use ceramic knives.

True Fabrications Slate Cheese Board and Chalk Set

True Fabrications Slate Cheese Board and Chalk SetOrdered this and it arrived cracked. The problem with cracked slate is that even if you super glue it, it flakes off. So you will have slate flakes on your cheese! In addition, the "soap chalk" arrived completely crushed and unusable. It is packaged very poorly, which is probably why it arrived broken. In essence, this is what you get: a thin layer of easily-breakable slate (about the thickness of a CD jewel case) with felt glued to the bottom. No cleaning or care instructions are included or printed on the box!!! So, even if this arrived without cracks, we still wouldn't know how to properly use and clean it. You could probably go to a quarry and make this yourself for free. Crappy product, rip-off. You get what you pay for.

The packaging seemed protective but the slate was broken off on one corner when received. Did not re-order but will shop around. It was one of the least expensive ones on here so i guess you get what you pay for.

This board is simply too small. It barely holds 2 different kinds of cheese, and if you want to use the chalk to write the name of the cheese you have to really be sure that the cheese doesn't touch the writing or it comes right off. The concept is great, but I wish I had gotten the bigger one.

Mundial W5621-10 10-Inch Curved Micro-Serrated Edge Bread Knife, White

Mundial W5621-10 10-Inch Curved Micro-Serrated Edge Bread Knife, WhiteI bake incredible loaves of bread three times a week in a cast iron dutch oven. The loaves are nearly 10 inches in diameter with a crispy crust and a moist interior. This incredible knife will cut these big loaves of bread even when they are still too hot to touch from the oven. A room temperature loaf can be sliced 1/4" thick which makes a see through slice. Hard crust, soft crust no matter what crust or interior, this knife slices bread like it was butter. The blade has micro serrations and larger serrations and is curved perfectly for slicing bread. This amazing Mundail knife has a large handle, sized to fit a man's large hand. The handle looks big and my wife complained about how big the handle was UNTIL she cut her first slice of bread. It instantly became "her" bread knife, the result of one slice. My wife would never have purchased this knife due to the lack of a wooden handle and no made in Germany etching. As for me, I would by this knife again even if it only came in pink. LOL Five other bread knives, all way more expensive, have now been retired permanently. What a slicer!

This one is going back. It had just a few reviews, though they were positive so I gave it a try. I wanted to like this knife, but I just can't. The handle is fine, the blade material is even fine, but the fundamental design is flawed. If it weren't advertised as a bread knife, it might even be fine. If you buy this for bread slicing though, you'll be disappointed. The pictures don't reflect it, and the "micro-serrated edge" is misleading. This knife is fairly thick for bread slicing, and the poor edge design more rips and tears than slices cleanly.

Their definition of micro-serrated is that one side of the blade has serrations (which feel more like protrusions from the edge, rather than being inset and ground into the blade) with scallops on the other edge. This causes your nice soft loaf of bread to be ripped and shredded, not a clean swift slice at all.

I was expecting it to have scallops on both sides, or even just one side with smaller serrations or scallops within each larger scallop on the edge. This was not the case, leading it to be thicker than it should be (makes lots of crumbs).

I've always used the forschner/victorinox scallped bread knives as my every day tool for slicing breads and pastries, and many other tasks. The mundial was a disappointment and will be returned to amazon, in favor of another victronox.

Wallace 5086468 45-Piece Continental Hammer Flatware Set

Wallace 5086468 45-Piece Continental Hammer Flatware SetThis set is an excellent alternative to Reed & Barton's Hammered Antique which costs 4 to 5 times more!! Really, this was a great deal!! This set by Wallace is also 18/10 stainless just like the Hammered Antique! The quality looks pretty much equal. And after making a comprehensive, detailed comparison, we went with this Wallace Continental Hammered because we liked the larger, continental style Soup/place spoons. And, we liked the price of $72.44 with Free Shipping from Amazon-can't beat it!!

The larger set, service for 12 is not 18/10-it's 18/0 and not as heavy and there were a few negative complaints about that. So, stick with this set....service for 8.

First, I should say we wanted to get a complete set of flatware for our anniversary. So we looked around, 10-12 stores at least. Macy's and similar, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's etc. Not looking to spend $10k on real silver-ware but we can afford more than $30 at W-mart. We spent about 4 weeks before choosing this set (x2). So this was a serious choice we put some effort into. We wanted a whole matching set to keep for many years.

So early on we found we had to try and see if there was still a reputable manufacturer that didn't just ship junk in from overseas. The problem seems to be so many sets made overseas have started having quality issues in the last 5-10 years. It seems all brands that were originally manufactured in the US/Europe are made in Asia to varying standards. I am sure cost-cutting is a big problem for many companies, it's not just this category item. I saw people reported online getting the same setup from the same company a few years apart and they got very different results. Many buyers left reviews about rust and other problems on most sets we looked at in the stores. We expect for $60-100 a set of "stainless steel" flatware they they are not going to start rusting in 3-6 months. We had gotten some (cheap) pairing knives, 100% stainless (blade and handle) and seen rust spots after a few months I said maybe that is okay for a pairing knife but it would be unacceptable for our regular silverware.

The other problem was finding something we could both agree on. We saw two sets of the hammered style, and we both liked those well enough. BB&Beyond has pieces out where you can handle them. The feel in the hand is important. I liked one hammered set as the pieces were heavier and comfortable. Reviews on the store set were mixed however, with rusting on the two-piece knives an issue apparently. The sets we looked had review that were only 50-60% positive. So we had a style, we just had to find the best maker.

Wallace looks like a higher-end manufacturer, part of a family of flatware companies. The top-level Wallace items are $10,000+ silver sets online if you want to lookso I was reassured this wasn't a cheap company that has just popped up or is a "store brand" that changes factories every year. So that matched our desire to avoid a low quality company. Macy's website had this set (with some good pictures) but the 2-3 Macy's we checked locally did not have Continental Hammer. We did get to look at other Wallace sets, and they looked quite nice.

We ordered 2 sets of 8. Several pieces were slightly scratched or scuffed, only one really badly enough to worry about. The hammered effect is well done, better than others we saw in stores. The handle is flat (not shiny) and the 'business-end' is highly chromed and very shiny. We think the pieces are very nice looking. We find the handles comfortable enough to hold and usewith a narrow neck and wide tail.

The other reviews online for this set had some comments that I noticed, and I can confirm them as issues for us as well.

First, the flatware is all printed (not stamped or indented) with Wallace, China, 'c' and 'r' marks in black "ink". On the forks and spoons it is on the back side (no big deal). On the knives it is on one side, mid-way on the blade. Quite noticeable and detracting from the appearance. It looks tacky and cheap. I tell myself it may be better then imprinted/indented which possibly harbors bacteria long term. It's only a minor annoyance for me.

Second, the handles are thin, not as thick as other hammered styles we saw. This makes these pieces somewhat lighter. This was a slight disappointment, since there was no way to judge weight from looking at it online. We decided we could live with it. A full set of 5 (large and small spoons and forks, and one knife) weigh in at 9.7 oz on my postal scale. The knife has a nice, thick rounded hollow handle and is a single cast piece (no seams to rust).

Third, if you are not sure what the "Continental" part of the name iswell, it's not just a flowery adjective. It means "European size" and by that I mean REALLY LARGE on the large items. NOT standard size, which may take a little getting used to or may make this more appealing to some buyers. I have seen these sizes in Europe too, so it's not a made up term. Some people might say ridiculously large, though. I will upload a photo with a penny in the large spoon. It's not a problem for us, but it could be for some folks. The wife and daughter only use the small spoons, but that was true when we previously had "normal size" flatware. The old standard spoons setting inside these Continental ones showed 10-20% more "spoon surface area".

Fourth, and most importantly is durability of the finish, or lack of it. Within a month we can see minor scratches and scuffs turning up on some pieces. These are easy to see because the surface it so shiny, these are not marks you would otherwise notice on flat/matte surfaces. Like a little watermark smudge you can't wipe off. We think that at this rate after a few years all the pieces will be scratched and scuffed to the point that we may have to consider replacing them. Most likely they will still be functional, but less attractive. We will see, I may come back and update the comment after 6 months. I think the "instructions" that came with the set mentioned placing them carefully in the dishwasher to they were not scratched. Our dishwasher has a cover kind of thing over the flatware compartmentsort of like a loose peg-board arrangement of slots where you drop each piece in and it is held apart from the other pieces. I guess it's possible in theory the dishwasher is blasting the water so hard the flatware is banging around the getting scratched against each other. However, as the pieces are not changing their orientation and we can't hear any clinking (from an ultra-quiet washer) I kind of doubt it. However we may try and isolate pieces to see if it helps any. Other buyers complained online of the same and I wondered if they were being super-picky. It appears not. No small children, we are not being rough on the pieces, just what I would consider normal use.

The chrome finish looks nice when it is cleanso I AM being picky in wanting to take a microfiber cloth and wiping these off after they come out of the washer. Just so there are no streaks or water smudges on them. Mostly on the knives. It takes a few moments, but I only mention it as I can guess some people might be put off by the appearance of the watermarks. (and yes, perfectly clean clothI am sure I'm not introducing those scratches I mentioned). ;)

Overall, I will rate these a 4. I want to say 3 to mark down for the minor issuesbut if I am honest in comparing them to the other hammered sets we looked closely at the Wallace set is still much better. Some room for improvement in the weight and finish durability perhaps, but we are happy with our selection.

I had been trying to find a flatware set like this for a long time. I was thrilled to find this on Amazon and at such a good price. It made it possible for me to "gift" someone with something they really wanted. It is a lovely set and good weight too. I had looked long and hard and you will not find an equal to this anywhere! If this is the pattern you like then go for it. The service from Amazon and all their vendors is the very best!!

The flatware is nice weight and feels good. I like the style but to tell the truth I was more concerned with good quality and that is what I got.

I was looking to replace my flatware for our RV as it was not holding up well even though it was seldom used and never put in dishwasher. In doing my research I discovered that there is a huge difference between flatware rated 18/0 (which my RV flatware was) and 18/10 (which my household flatware was). The "10" or the nickel makes all the difference in the world. This Wallace set is 18/10 -is very confortable to hold and has a very nice weight to it. It has now become my household flatware and I am ordering another set for extras. The pattern is really pretty and goes with everything. My household flatware is now in our RV and my previous RV flatware is GONE!!

Spatulas - Rosewood - Tapered Blade 8"

Spatulas - Rosewood - Tapered Blade 8'I thought the BLADE itself would be 8" long, but the entire product is only 8 inches long! The blade is tiny! Dang. I might as well just use a table knife to do the icing. It's a nice spatula, but only really good for small projects in my eyes.

White Chopstick Rest

White Chopstick RestThis chopstick rest is functional, attractive, and cheap. It arrived within a week of purchase. Can't find a thing to complain about.

It's a really nice product. It looks good on the table and serves its function well. Only downside is the shipping cost is way to high....double what the actual product costs.

Culinary Institute of America Masters Collection 8" Chef's Knife

Culinary Institute of America Masters Collection 8' Chef's KnifeNot much to be said, other than this knife comes ground to the correct angle and very sharp. It also holds its edge for quite a while. It isn't the heaviest chef knife around, but if you are accustomed to the cheapo gift set knives, your hand and wrists will need to get adjusted to the heftiness of a professional instrument; expect a slight reduction in speed until your muscles catch up. But when they do, you'll wonder why you didn't get a knife like this before, it makes cutting so much easier. A major advantage to a heavy, sharp knife is that it doesn't hurt your index finger because you use less force to cut, the knife's weight and edge does the work for you, and it remains stable. So don't feel the big knives are only for the big guys like Mario, they are actually safer to use!

Bought it in Nov. of 2010, honed it but I have yet to sharpen it. With daily use, and some abuse, it is still going strong. Perfectly balanced and super sharp. Just about as good as my Wusthof Classic.

I purchased this knife because it received excellent reviews. I must have received a defective item, because it was totally dull. Would not cut vegetables, chicken, nothing. It was worthless and was returned today.

Winco Oyster/Clam Knife

Winco Oyster/Clam Knife1 out of the 4 knives we bought broke first time using it. The other 3 knives held up fine.

I like this type of oyster knife best because of the hand guard. Seems like it will be durable for years to come!

I bought 6 of these for an oyster roast party we were hosting. They aren't the best quality, as the hand shield bent easily, but for the price you can't beat it. In short, I'd buy more for future parties but the ones we own for personal use are much better quality.

Opens sea animals for eating.

Yum.

The little disk hand protector thing wobbles and bends but it doesn't much get in the way of opening sea animals for eating so whatever.

Oceanstar KS1194 Contemporary Knife Set with Block, Elegant Black, 15-Piece

Oceanstar KS1194 Contemporary Knife Set with Block, Elegant Black, 15-PieceI am more than dissapointed with these knives. I gave them 5 stars at first but after a few month they now deserve 1/2 star. The plastic handles break really easy!

I like this because the old set was "old" so we updated and all the knives work well, very sharp and are holding up.

Wusthof Classic 3-Inch Hollow Ground Paring Knife

Wusthof Classic 3-Inch Hollow Ground Paring KnifeThis is a great paring knife, peels garlic beautifully. Fits my hand well with nice balance and a comfortable handle. The blade cuts through everything as if it were butter.

I now use this little guy as my paring knife most of the time, it's very handy since I do more small chopping than peeling. Get the big one too, it's great also.

This is a great knife sharp and well-balanced. I used to use either one of my chef's knife (Mac & Wusthoff) or the Wusthoff Santoko, but, frankly, they were too large to use comfortably to slice garlic and other small items. I have a ton of professional knives Wusthoff, Henckels, Global, and Mac, and I reluctantly decided to add this one to the collection. It is now one of my favorites. THE favorite for smaller jobs.
