However, the beautiful fabric wrapper does me no good -I didn't realize the gold circles were glitter, which comes loose all over the place. Glitter on the inside of my backpack, glitter on my hands, and most of all, glitter on the silverware. Were I not too busy to return this, I would exchange it for a different design, one without glitter.

I'm happy with the purchase, I keep my set in my back pack and wha la -like magic I do not send plastic utensils to a land fill. As a student seeking a BA that respects a triple bottom line, ethical treatment of People, Planet & still being able to produce Profit, my Bamboo Utensils make sense.

The package arrived promptly and I'm happy. I did however make 1 change, I added my chopsticks!

I've been using this set for about two months and it is holding up really well. My only real complaint is that it would have been even better if the middle sized spoon was replaced with a second fork with smaller tines to make stabbing salad pieces easier. The large spoon works well for soup and stews, it looks somewhat shallow but you still get good sized bites with it. I use the smaller spoon for stirring drinks and eating yogurt or pudding but the middle spoon seems redundant. I have used the knife several times for cutting soft fruit and meats or bread and it actually cuts, though not as well as a metal knife of course. The knife is showing a little wear after several uses, I chipped one of the teeth on the stem of a pear, so be careful what you cut. But honestly for a wooden knife you can't expect much more.

They clean up easily with rinsing in them in the sink with a little soap and water and they don't show any signs of stains even after homemade chilli or curry.

I get lots of compliments from my coworkers on them and it is a great set for the price.

I even like the carrying pouch, it doubles as an impromptu napkin and is easy to clean in the sink if it gets dirty, it's also large enough that I added my own chopsticks and chopstick rest and it still rolls up nicely and is secure.

I loved this set and used it camping, just because I could. However, just a note for anyone who hates glitter everywhere: the fabric, at least on the one with little circles, has glitter all over it. I tried washing it alone once, to loosen the glitter and remove it. That worked partly, but I still ended up with glitter on me, my camp gear, and my food. A few more washes or some extra scrubbing would remove that isssue. The utensils themselves are fabulous.

I've used it for parmesan and cheddar so far and am very pleased. It's easy to hold at a slant or simply rest on a board (with a hand on the large ring handle) to grate. It doesn't slip around because of the silicone feet, and its curved surface allows turning the cheese at different angles so none is wasted. Little tools like this that really work are a joy to have.

Love it, easy to use, easy to clean! and doesn't take too much space.

I'ts been a year since i bought it and i use it very often for grating aged parmesan cheese, dry hard bread, lemon or orange zest, and looks feels like new.

The only thing I don't like is the inscription on the server set is very fine and kind of hard to see! The glasses aren't like that -you can see the etching on them perfectly! All and all, I like them a lot!

First of all I have never purchased anything so cheap from Amazon...such a disappointing product. The description is very misleading...they've advertize as a high quality product an alternative to the more expensive glass sterling silver products. Dexter-Russell S5198 Chinese Chef's Cleaver 8-in.

Dexter-Russell S5198 Chinese Chef's Cleaver 8-in.Chinese chef's cleavers are somewhat a mistranslation, as they are not true cleavers. It is actually used for as a slicer and chopper. Much like a French chef's knife or a Japanese Santoku bocho, a Chinese chef's cleaver is an all-purpose knife with a medium blade. It is known as "vegetable knife" to Chinese. This is not a thin blade slicer, nor a thick blade meat cleaver. Chinese chef's knife sits between the Chinese slicer and the Chinese cleaver. It is not designed for hacking through big bones, though thin chicken bones are acceptable.

I bought this knife on March 2009. Dexter-Russell Chinese chef's knives are highly regarded among Chinese chefs in America. This particular model S5198 is the best selling of them. Its blade is 8 inch in length and 3.25 inch in width. It spine is 3/32 inch thick, which is 1/32 inch thicker than my previous Sekizo Chinese chef's cleaver. The thicker spine gives the knife a sturdier feel and a heavier chop. The 3-1/4 inch walnut wood handle is nice. A wood handle is warmer to hold and allows a non-slip grip compared to a steel or plastic handle. I oiled the handle with tung oil to prevent it from absorbing too much water. The tang extends 40% into the walnut wood handle and can stand up to 500 pounds of pull. According to customer service, this Dexter-Russell S5198 is constructed out of 420 stainless steel and harden to Rockwell 54-56 HRC. Because normal 420 cannot be harden much above 50 HRC, this knife must be made of 420HC and not the normal 420. 55 HRC is normal for kitchen knives, but soft comparing to hard steel Japanese knives, like Shun or Hattori cutlery. For a given steel, there is a trade-off between strength and toughness. A very hard knife is resistance to low level impact, but will chip/crack when the force is great. A softer and tougher knife tends to give and have its edge roll up easier, but has greater resistance against chipping and cracking. As Chad Ward pointed out, "The most extreme examples of both would be the extremely hard, yet shatter-prone ceramic knives from Kyocera compared to very tough, soft stainless Chinese cleavers". Chinese chef's cleavers often are made out of softer and tougher stainless steel due to their all-purpose function. This is a stamped knife with no bolster, finished with a saber grind profile. I ground mine with a 15o back bevel and a 20o on the edge face. Finally, this knife is made in USA by Dexter-Russell, the largest and oldest American cutlery manufacturer. I rate this Chinese chef's cleaver between a 4-star score and a 5-star score. I am quiet happy with this knife and it is certainly a fine cutlery for its $30-40 price, so it deserves at least a 4-star rating. I am just not sure if it is exceptionally great given its 420HC stainless steel grade is rather common.

I have now moved toward the Chan Chi Kee (CCK) thin blade chef's knife due to its thinness.

*Skip the bottom if you already know how to hold a Chinese cleaver.*

Some of you probably are Chinese cleaver veterans, but for those of you who are not, here are some suggestions for holding a Chinese chef's cleaver. It is a pinch grip just like a French chef's knife. Hold your knife with your dominant hand. Have your thumb and index finger hold on the spine (slightly passed the bolster section), while the other three fingers wrap around the handle. Alternatively, have the thumb, index and middle fingers on the spine, and hold the handle with ring and little fingers. Both grips are acceptable. Hold your foods with your other hand with your fingers tips curl inward, allowing your minor knuckles or your joints exposed. Lean the side of the cleaver blade against your knuckles or your joints and you are good to chop, cut and slice, but never lift the blade edge above the knuckles/joints. In other words, your knuckles/joints will guide your cutting motion and preventing you from cutting yourself. I have uploaded a photo of this in this review.

Calling this a 'cleaver' is a bit off. Cleavers

are usually thought of as heavy, axe-like blades

ground to a convex profile and used with a swinging

motion to break or separate bones. This knife, on

the other hand is intended for all the cutting

tasks that one does in a kitchen with other knives.

What makes this the almost perfect knife is the width

of the blade. At over three inches, it provides a lot of

control surface in relationship to its edge. So the

cook who has learned to chop by guiding the knife

with his or her knuckles is almost immune from accidents.

The wide blade also makes this great for whacking

a clove of garlic before mincing it and for scooping

up chopped food from the cutting board.

The edge is easy to maintain-not too hard or too soft.

I use a chef's choice sharpener and keep the knife

on a magnetic tool bar to avoid knicking the blade.

The only thing wrong with this knife is the handle,

which is in a barrel shape and uncomfortable and

insecure in the hand. I modified mine with a bit

of coarse sandpaper, making grooves where my fingers

wanted to land.

This is my most frequently-used tool and one that I

recommend to students and friends.

I own a full set of J. A. Henckel Professional "S" series knives, and I love those... but it's this Dexter-Russell Chinese Vegetable Knife (the technical name) that I use for everything. It is easily the sharpest blade I have ever encountered, and easily the longest lasting edge I have ever encountered. When I first used my Henkels, I thought "Okay, this is what a great knife is..." and yes, that was great. Then, when I used this knife (after being inspired by the Chinese Made Easy show with Ching-He Huang), I realized that "THIS" is what a great knife is, and there is nothing like it. Just get it. You'll use it for everything. Careful thought, this thing will cut you up like crazy.

Although it is billed as a cleaver, I would not use it that way.

It is a beautifully weighted versatile knife with a comfortable handle.

This is a wonderful implement for rapidly chopping, pressing garlic quickly, etc.

It is very easy to care for. We keep the handle out of the water & wash it with warm, soapy water. It is then left either to air dry or wipe dry with a soft cloth.

We've used this knife for 28 years & it has held up well. The handle NEVER became loose. The original one was bought in Chinatown in NYC for about $5.00 (1981). I've seen this same knife in stores for $58, so this price here is quite good.

We thought we had left the knife somewhere, & decided to check with Amazon if they had it. Great news, it was there! After 28 years, we didn't expect it to be $5. Got it to Alaska for additional S&H-about $51 all together. Still less than the price in the store, no gas, no poking around looking for it.

Well, the original knife turned up after all, so now we have two & are happy for that-it is that good a knife! Actually-gave the new knife away as a present. It is a beloved, useful accompaniment-no, A NECESSITY in that household, too.

The knife was shipped all the way to Alaska in great condition. It was well packaged. NO problems.

You'll certainly be glad to own this knife. Yes, if you have access quickly to a Chinese grocery, you may find it. But absent that, this is a great alternative!

This is just simply a great versatile knife-good for bluntly chopping meats (thru bones, too), finely chopping herbs, etc.

NO complaints. Would buy again. (If the one from the 80's ever falls apart).

This particular knife was a present for my cousin who is just starting to get interested in cooking. I have many knives in my kitchen, most of them presents, and most of them junk. I use only two knives: this one and a 4 1/2" Wusthoff paring knife. Aside from specialty knives like ones to cut bread or open oysters, those are the only two knives you will ever need.

This knife looks like a meat cleaver. It is not, and never use it like one. It is a Chinese chef's knife and is a precision instrument. You do not wrap your hand around the handle your thumb and forefinger should extend beyond the handle and end up on either side of the blade to guide it through its stroke. Draw the knife gently through whatever you are cutting. You will find it wonderful for cutting vegetables for salads, and after you have sliced or chopped your onions or peppers, simply tilt the knife until it is nearly parallel to your chopping board and slide the chopped food onto the blade to transfer it to a bowl or pot.

Always rinse and dry your knife immediately after use and store it in the box in which it comes or in a proper knife block. This knife hold an edge better than any other knife in your kitchen. Eventually, however, you will need to dress the edge of the knife. When it refuses to cut a tomato as a razor would, use a good quality diamond-hone electric sharpener. You should need only the "hone" part of the device you don't need to take off any metal.

Never use the knife on anything other than a wooden or polyethylene chopping board never on a hard or brittle surface.

If you follow these directions, your knife will last almost forever and give you years of satisfying service. Mine is over 20 years old.

I really wanted to try them out so I made a baked brie appetizer for our New Years celebration and these speaders worked wonderfully! They're just small enough to not feel overpowering to the dish it was used in, yet they are very sturdy so you won't feel like they might break if you are trying to dig into a harder cheese or in my case a baked breading exterior. I had initially looked to get a themed spreader to use for the holidays but then thought it would be best to get a simple, generic kind of design that can be used year round. The fact that this set came with 4 speaders at such a great price was what sold me on them and I'm really glad I decided to go with these and not holiday themed ones so that now I know I can use them anytime.

I ordered these spreaders to wrap individually with homemade jellies and jams for Christmas gifts. Will serve the purpose well.

New Owners Advice! 4/19/2013

Small portions size pans, just the right size to start with and add to if necessary. You do want to have a good hot pad because the handles get warm, my guess being on the stove to long could cause a burn so my other piece of advice is this keep a baggiemarked FIRST AID FOR BURNS of flour near the stove should you get burned stick your hand in the baggie of flour for 30 minutes. You will thank me later! I hear their hot pad type not for handles like these, but have not found them l. My guess is there are some on this website(Amazon.com)! 4stars for hot handles otherwise it's a 5++++

Oggi 4-Piece Stainless Steel Cheese Knife SetI bought this item as part of a Christmas gift. When it arrived, I was very disappointed in the appearance of the packaging. It was in a plastic container that was all scratched up and very little other packaging. The items inside were of good weight and size. So if you are buying them for personal use, they will be very pleasing. But beware, if you are giving them as a gift, you may need to repackage them.

I had driven around town to every housewares and cooking store in hopes of finding a contemporary cheese knife set to go with the ceramic plate I had purchased. Most were too expensive, too fussy, or cheaply made. Then I spotted this one on Amazon. It's exactly what I was looking for. Modern. Small size. Easy to keep clean. The product is similar to what is pictured, the only problem is that on the other side of each cheese knife, the brand "oggi" is imprinted on them. This was not shown in the picture. I wish i had known that the imprint existed prior to purchase, it might have changed my purchase. The item pictured just shows plain stainless steel which is what i prefer.

Wusthof Classic 4-Piece Mignon Steak SetThe knives are made very well and look very nice but be carefull washing them. The wustof sysbol on the handels are just a sitcker and after being wased by hand about 18 times the label is peeling off from some of them. Why would the label on a $250 set of knives be made out of vinyl or some type of plastic? Still an excellent quality knife but what a cheap touch.

I have nothing but good things to say about these steak knives, which I bought from Amazon more than six years ago. They work perfectly for their intended purpose, and I sharpen them when it's necessary... but they don't lose their edge as fast as other knives I've used. I put them in the dishwasher every time, with no problems with handles or blades. When they're not in use, I keep them in the knife drawer -so they get used for a lot more than just meat. You can't go wrong with these knives, and they look beautiful, too.

Wusthof Gourmet 6-Piece Steak-Knife SetI have had these for a few years. After the first year one of the tips broke off. A couple of years later another tip broke off, this time cutting an apple.

I don't have the warranty to know where to return these to, so I am stuck with them, but seriously I just want some better knives rather than paying to ship the bad ones somewhere and wait for a possible refund.

Even through I prefer Wustof to Henkels on the high end stuff, we have a cheap set of Henkels stamped steak knives that seem more sturdy and cut better than these.

These are not what you'd expect from Wusthof. The Wusthof symbol on the handle is a STICKER (!!!) which bleaches out after washing. Also, after 1 months use and washing, we're getting rust spots. While these knives are sharp, they are not holding up appearance wise. Very disappointed.

I have a set of these steak knives and love them.

Unlike most inexpensive steak knives these knives are fine edge and not serrated. I like the cut of fine edge knives. They make clean cuts without shreading. These are stamped knives which are a lot less expensive than the forged Classic knives in my set but they look the same and for how much they are used they perform well at half the price of the forged knives. I have never had the rusting problem, but I hand wash all my knives. These are not stainless steel. I heard once that most of the time when knives rust it is because they are put in the dishwasher. The dishwasher leaves metal deposits on your flatware. When those deposits dry they turn to rust. Come to find out it is usually your dishwasher that is rusting when this happens. I never stick good knives in the dishwasher.

These "fine" knives doesn't stay sharp as long my Chicago Cutlery steak knives and the handles crack at the rivets. The logo-labels peel off leaving the adhesive on the handle. If they had a different sticker on the handle, they would be one quarter the price. I have a full set of Wusthof knives and there is no comparison.

These are quite flimsy and develop rust spots extremely easily. Not the quality one would expect from this company. We have several of Wusthof Classic's line (Chef's, paring, utility, etc) have found them to be sturdy, true, well-balanced in the hand and have held up very well over the past 3 years in our busy kitchen. We didn't expect these steak knives to be of the same quality, but they were suprisingly low quality for the brand and the cost.

Mikasa Classico Satin 18/0 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8I had bought this product in a Mikasa store a while back and was looking to add servings to the flatware I had. I was so excited to see Amazon had these, but when I got the box, it was completely different than those I had purchased from the Mikasa store. The original Mikasa flatware I have is made in Korea and is 18/10, the ones from Amazon I got were made in Indonesia and are 18/0, quite a difference in appearance, weight, etc... The Mikasa pieces I have came individually wrapped and in their box, these came all together in bags wrapped in a rubber band, and all together in 1 box. Very poor presentation and not to mention quality. The original flatware I have is dishwasher safe, these are not! So I'm definitely returning! I was looking in the Miksasa online store and they have this flatware, but again in 18/0 and they don't mention wether made in Indonesia or Korea... I assume Indonesia, but very disappointing to see they have lowered their quality standards.

I ordered this to replace pieces of this original flat ware made in Korea and it is 18/10 steel. This is low quality attempt that does not match. It is very crude and disappointing even if it was not a mismatch for replacement. They should give this another name since it is so different and low quality.

I bought a service for 8 at a Mikasa store in 2002 for our vacation home. It is beautiful, 18/10 flatware that has held up well. (I would rate that flatware 5 stars.) Now someone we let stay at our home has lost three salad forks and I am having difficulty finding replacements that are 18/10 and not 18/0. (I would not purchase 18/0 flatware because it won't match.) I looked on the Mikasa site where they still sell sets of 18/10, but did not find a way to purchase individual pieces. All of the replacement pieces I have found online are 18/0. The set is not serviceable with only five salad forks, so now I'm looking for a new set of flatware. Not happy.

I rarely get another knife out anymore as I leave this knife handy for immediate use. I cut all my veggies, cheese plus bread with it. I cannot be happier!

My wife had a single knife for 30+ years and finally agreed on a new one. The set arrived in a beautiful wooden box and the quality of the knife is still execptional. The rounded tip is especially useful smf safe for the many daily slicing chores we use it for. The laminated wood handle with the finger notches is both comfortable to use and a pleasure to look at.

I'm so glad I got these because they also look great in the cake cutting photos. Really worth the price! They're classy and not gaudy at all.

Nice set, I only hated that I was not given the option of having them engraved...It would have been a plus if engraving was offered.

I have the red-handle version of this. It was fine for a few cuts, then duller than typing paper and it absolutely will not take an edge. Kitchenaid is a great company, and I really wanted to like this knife, but it's garbage beyond its initial use.

Zhen Japanese Damascus VG-10 Large Slicer Chopping Chef butcher Knife 8'Background (1): I'm not Asian, but I've been using Chinese cleavers for over 30 years. I used to own a restaurant, and when I first started cooking I gravitated toward Chinese cleavers (somewhat unusual for a white guy); they just seemed to me to have a very practical, common-sense design when you pick one up and use it. (The wide blade makes it much easier to guide the blade on the knuckles of your food-holding hand so that you can't cut yourself; and it also allows you to scoop up what you've chopped so you can easily move the food wherever you want it to go.)

Background (2): I used a Dexter/Russell Chinese cleaver for many years. After that I bought a Chinese cleaver made in Japan by Mac, for Martin Yan (same approximate dimensions of the Dexter), which I really loved; but I broke the blade cutting frozen chicken and couldn't find another since they stopped making it. Since then I've purchased maybe 10 Chinese cleavers -Martin Yan; Joyce Chen; Messermeister; Forschner; a heavy-duty Chinese cheapie ($6) for whacking through bones; and a few others. But I've never purchased a super-expensive one (e.g., one of the Japanese ones sold at JCK, some of which sell for close to $400). The most expensive Chinese cleaver I own is the Kershaw Shun DM0712, which now sells for $200, more or less. The Shun is very finely crafted, but it's small, heavy for its size, and, because of the weight of the blade, not particularly well-balanced.

Now, as for the Zhen Damascus -My initial impression is: (1) It's very very sharp; (2) It's extremely and surprisingly light for its size -light to the point that I'm a bit worried that it might be fragile. (Only time will tell.) The blade is thin at the spine (less than 2 mm.), and narrows severely to the edge -almost like a straight razor. However, there is no taper on the spine, from the heel to the point. (3) The craftsmanship is good to very good, but not obsessive/perfectionist, like top-level Japanese craftsmanship is; (4) It's well-balanced and well-designed (assuming, again, that it holds up); (5) The handle is very comfortable -but this may be a matter of personal preference; (6) Over all, it's pretty much what you should expect it to be, given its description and price.

$130 for a knife is not cheap; but it's less than half the price of top-tier Japanese knives of similar design. And the Zhen is clearly a knock-off of the Kershaw Shun -similar metal in the blade; similar handle design. But the dimensions (of the Large, which is what I bought) are very different from the Shun; and the workmanship is not quite as good. The blade out of the box, while literally razor sharp, had tiny burrs on the side of the edge. I could feel them with my fingernail. They were easily removed with a honing steel or fine stone, but it's the kind of thing that a high-end Japanese craftsperson would never have let go. Similarly, you can feel just a bit where the rear bolster attaches to the handle -it's not perfectly smooth. And where the bolster is welded to the blade, it's not as uniform and nicely done as the Shun. I attribute these slight imperfections to the fact that this is a $130 knife, not a $330 knife. If I had paid $330, and the knife was made in Japan, I'd be seriously disappointed, even though none of these things affect the knife's functionality.

That's about as much as I can say after just a day's use. I personally like this particular handle design -I find it very comfortable (similar to the Shun, but without the bulge toward the palm). So far the knife has been easy to use, though I'm still adjusting to its dimensions. (It's about 8" x 4"; the other cleavers I own are about 3" wide; but many of the top-end and commercial Chinese cleavers are 4" wide, or wider.) My primary concern is that the blade will prove to be fragile. (While I don't plan to whack bones with it, I do expect it to hold up when used as intended. And I'm trusting Zhen that the knife is really made from first-class Japanese steel. I hope they are telling the truth, but how can one really know?)

[Regarding fragility of blades: I've been surprised before. I found that the blades on my Dexter/Russels were easy to deform and knick. But the blade on my Messermeister -which I bought on E-Bay for $40 a few years ago -seemed very thin and light, to the point that I was worried that, though made in Japan, it could be fragile. But I was surprised to find that that thin and innocent-looking blade was actually really tough. Since it was only $40, it became my work horse, and I kept pushing it to see what it could handle. I eventually starting using it to chop chicken bones (both raw and cooked), including leg bones -and the blade doesn't bend or knick or anything. Pretty amazing.]

Anyway, the bottom line for the Zhen Damascus is that it seems well designed; it's very very sharp; craftsmanship is fine but not perfect; it's too early for me to report on the quality of the blade; and finally, relative to high-end Chinese cleavers it seems to be reasonably priced at $129.

UPDATE 6/15/12

Well, I've been using my new Zhen knife for about a month now. Overall, I'm very happy with it. For the first couple of weeks I was very cautious; the knife and I were getting to know one another. Among other things, it's so sharp that it tends to catch on the cutting board when I scoop up veges. (The remedy is to scoop, spatula-style, at a very very low angle.) But just a few days ago I realized that I was becoming very comfortable with the knife. At first I would have been more comfortable using one of my old knives, because that's what I was used to. But I now prefer the new one to my other knives -a good sign.

As with any razor-sharp blade, the edge dulls with use. But I've been able to keep it sharp with a few strokes on a stone (my main stone is soft arkansas) or, my favorite, a ceramic sharpening rod.

I still find the handle very comfortable. And I'm liking the extra width -it's great when cutting something big, like napa cabbage, or watermelon. And it also means I can scoop up a larger pile of stuff in one scoop.

Having said all of that, if you've never used a Chinese cleaver before, but you're thinking of giving one a try, IMHO this would not be a good choice. I say this because a 4" wide blade is indeed quite big; and the width of the blade definitely alters the ergonomics. All of my previous chinese cleavers had 3" wide blades. If you're thinking of trying out a Chinese cleaver, I'd suggest getting one with a 3" wide blade first. There are plenty to choose from. Get used to that. The 4" wide blade makes for a big knife.

Ergonomics note: If you get a chance, watch some cooks and prep-cooks in a Chinese kitchen. Chinese kitchens are set up very ergonomically -but they are very different from standard western kitchens. With respect to chopping and food prep, the counters tend to be lower, to make room for (1) the big fat round of a fir tree that is the chinese chopping block, and (2) the wide chinese cleaver. With a standard American kitchen counter, you may find (depending on your height, of course) that the 4" blade of a big chinese cleaver requires you to raise your arm and wrist higher than you're accustomed to. To a certain extent, this can off-set one of the advantage of a chinese cleaver -which is that you don't have to "push" the knife very much, because the cleaver's weight does much of the work.

Paderno World Cuisine Chestnut Knife, 6 1/4'When I first received it, I tried it out on a chestnut only to find out that the knife wasn't even scratching the skin of the chestnut because of how dull it was. It was worse than a butter knife and I could press my finger against it as hard as I could without cutting myself. The handle is cheap plastic but I didn't buy it because I wanted something fancy, just something that could make scoring chestnuts a bit easier.

Luckily, I had a decent knife sharpener and after many, many passes through that, this thing was actually able to begin scratching the chestnut. A few more passes and it was ready for use. The angle for the tip makes it easy to first puncture the skin, and then drag it across the nut to score it. Great design, horrible quality, and horrible sharpness but I gave it 3 stars because after some extensive sharpening, I can't imagine going back to using a paring knife for scoring chestnuts.

This handy little slicer is easy to use and retrieves all of the edible parts of the pineapple with very little effort from me. Our kids get a kick out of watching the pineapple being cut into a fun swirl before digging in and enjoying. The empty shell can be used as a decorative server for cut fruit or drinks. The only problem we've encountered is if we cut the pineapple too close to the top it creates a suction when pulling the cut pineapple out out of its shell which results in the handle disconnecting from the bottom portion of the slicer. I think its a great gadget and have purchased one as a gift for friends.
