I'm kind of surprised that this set carries the Wusthof name. For the price I paid I wasn't expecting much, but figured if it was a Wusthof set it had to be decent. I have a couple other lower-end Wusthof knives and these knives are several notches below my other Wusthof's. The blades seem to be sharp but the handles are really flimsy and made out of rough plastic. There isn't much "heft" to these knives at all and they don't balance well in my opinion. I have a feeling that the blades will stay sharp for a long time because these knives won't be getting much use in my kitchen.Wusthof Silverpoint II 5-Piece Studio Knife Set 8665SB - Blue Handles

The Kuhn Rikon Nonstick Paring Knife is a very good value for a quality knife. We own several of these knives in different colors for use at home and in our shop. The different colors allow us keep the ones we use to cut materials in our workshop from accidently being used for food products. The blade is *VERY* sharp and holds it's edge very nicely. The nonstick coating on the blade is a real plus as it helps to keep the knife clean as well as to keep it moving through thicker items. The snug fitting platic sheath is a welcome addition to safely store or transport the knife.
My only complaint is the light feel of the plastic handle. It isn't flimsy exactly, just lacks heft. This might just be a personal prefference issue and it hasn't stopped me from buying more of them.
Overall this is a very good paring knife at a reasonable price. Recommended! This paring knife is the prettiest thing I have ever seen. Available in 6 attractive colors. The knife's non-stick surface coating is such a clever idea. Why they have not think of it before? The coating helps to make the blade glide with less effort. It seems that the blade is super sharp because of this. Perfect size for peeling fruits.
It comes with its own sheath that is very useful when you bring the knife with you. Kuhn Rikon is a Switzerland brand, the knife is made in China. At a very affordable price of 10$, this is my favorite knife that I bring at work.
J.A. Henckels International Everedge Plus 3-Piece Starter Set
The knives work well and I truely appreciate the fact that they don't need sharpened. Feel a little light but get the job done.Kind of reminds me of Ginsu knives, all have a serrated edge. Okay for the purpose as a starter set for my daughter-in-law. Fine at $19 but I would have been sorely disappointed if I'd paid $45.Buy J.A. Started by looking to buy a nice top end knife for my sister and realized it would be a waste. She is rough on knives but needs them for her family. Messermeister 12" Slicer Edge-Guard
I bought this guard to go with my "Victorinox 12-Inch Granton Edge Slicing Knife with Fibrox Handle". I wasn't sure how it worked or if it would fit before I bought it, but it is essentially a sleeve with the long edge and two adjacent small edges open so that it slips over the blade starting from the sharp end of the knife. It doesn't slide over the entire blade, it more "clips" to the sharp edge of the blade, and the back side of the blade (dull end) sticks out slightly. This is even better than I had imagined because it can fit virtually every knife the ONLY dimension you need to check is the blade length and it can be used on any blade thickness / depth. Anyway, it is very useful on my 12-inch slicing knife because it protects the blade and my fingers going into the drawer. I used to put my knife back into its original packaging each time I was done with its use, and this is a much faster and more effective way to use it. Fast, easy, protective very handy!!The Messermeister slicer edge-guard is great to protect the knife itself and your fingers. The stainless steel granton-Edge is very sharp.Buy Messermeister 12" Slicer Edge-Guard Now

This is a great edge guard for the price. Fits the 12-inch Victorinox Granton-Edge Slicer perfectly. Its adjustable style makes it universal to just about any 10-12-inch knife. Go with the Messermeister if you want a great edge-guard.Adequate product, serves the general purpose for safety. Be careful when setting or removing the knife...easy to cut yourself. I would recommend it, but a better product would be a 12" Victorinox (if you can find one).Victorinox Forged 17-Slot Bamboo Knife Storage Block
This knife block is very attractive. I first bought the Kapoosh to fit my Victorinox knives, but after reading the reviews I decided to opt for a block that was a better fit and longer lasting. It fits my 10" Chef's knife, 7" Santoku (w/ a little wiggle room), Henckles bread knife, 4 1/2" utility knife, 6 Steak knives, Kitchen Aid kitchen Shears, w/ 6 empty slots remaining to fill. However, I was a bit disappointed that their didn't seem to be a slot that fit my Santoku or my Steak Knives perfectly. I just thought it odd since the brands matched.
I am happy with the overall look and organization of the slots. Prior to purchasing I reviewed the Henckles blocks, but found there slots and layout a little odd. It might have worked, but I had the money and figured I go with the matching brand. If I had to do it all over, I would have bought the Block w/ the matching set. Prior to buying my first two Victorinox knives, I didn't know I was going to like this brand that much. After receiving the rose-handled Victorinox steak knives as a wedding gift, I wanted to upgrade our storage block as well. I shopped around and couldn't beat the price, the storage capacity and the attractiveness. I would have purchased one from a different maker if made better sense. It looks great-very eye-appealing. I would recommend on the factors stated above.

The slots are too narrow to hold other than 2 8" Victorinox knifes.I can't fit my 7" santoku, 10" bread and 8" chef into the block at the same time.
Save your money and buy the snap guards or find another block.
I don't have room for a mag-strip or I'd go there. I figured this block could
accommodate at least 3 top end knives from the same vendor but that's not the case.
It is well made and works for knives that fit. Maybe it's perfect for you if you
don't have any large knives but I can't really recommend it to anyone.

i was VERY HAPPY when i read the reviews about this product being "too thin" for their liking. i had purchased (few yrs ago) several farberware 9x11 thin (hair over 1/8") poly cutting boards. i used them DAILY and liked being able to have them on hand for different foods while i was cooking. well, they were getting old & beat up with heavy use, so it was time to replace them. i searched all over and couldn't find them anywhere! then i found the larger size here, but was concerned that maybe the dimensions might not be accurate (it was described as .2" thick). imagine my delight when the reviews confirmed they were indeed the 'thin' boards. they arrived yesterday (i ordered 4!) and i LOVE THEM!!! i use them for EVERYTHING!!... vegies, fruit, meat, etc... and they clean up beautifully in the dishwasher :-)i just wish they still made the 9x11 size in this thinner board...

I just learned a lesson. Never leave feedback too soon. I'm leaving my original feedback below but here's what I say after using it quite a bit today. Oh..I also gave it another star. Yes, the board is as thin as described below but I'm starting to think it's no big deal. I just diced and chopped and minced and sliced using this board. It has remarkably few scratches or marks of any kind after all that. This thing is really dense...more so than a more expensive one I bought not too long ago. I'm going to be very happy with it. Oh...and I diced red peppers and no stains. Now to the original feedback.Nice but expected it too be more substantial. This one is shy of 1/4" thick. It will be useful and I'm sure I'll be happy with it but might still look for another one a tad larger and at least a full 1/4 inch or even a wee bit thicker. It's great to have a selection of board in the kitchen anyway. For $10 bucks it's a good deal.
Bakers and Chefs 3 and 3.25 inch Restaurant Quality Paring Knives 4 Pack
These are fine knives at any price. The quality is head-to-head with the Victorinox, without the much higher price.I'm sort of a knife nut and I'll tell you these are certainly commercial quality. Might sound creepy, bet these knives will outlast all of us.
I'm really quite sure you'll be very pleased with this set. AND you really can't beat this price.

Shun Higo Nokami Personal Folding Stainless-Steel Steak Knife
It's a bit expensive, but it's also a one-of-a-kind knife. It comes with a very well made carrying box and a belt holder. It's a lockback design, when fully opened it locks into place with absolutely no play from front to back or side to side. It's good steel and comes with a razored edge, but it's not Shun's 32 layer "damascus" steel disappointing. Overall a great collector's piece.I collect quality stainless knives. This SHUN like all there knives, exudes quality.
And yes, I use it to cut my steak.

Very sharp and nice to hold.
Sits well on the dinner plate.

What a pleasure to use a knife rather than a saw when dining out. I am amazed at what some very good and very expensive restaurants provide for cutting beef, lamb, pork, etc. By the time you apply enough pressure and take enough strokes to carve a bite size piece so much of the taste has been lost. Be prepared for some stares, but realize most of them are caused by envy.Tuftop Crystal Clear Cutting Board
The article is not as described -it is not "crystal clear." It had a brushed pattern on the top that I did not like at all -the whole point was to let my granite countertop show through, and that was not as expected. And it doesn't feel right when a sharp nice slices down against glass. This can't be good for your sharp knives. I do not recommend this product -I returned mine.8PC CUTLERY W/CUTTING BOARD

Good solid wood, really easy to install.

Glue was blatantly visible.

LamsonSharp Stainless Steel Pizza Rocker Knife
I worked at a Pizza Hut in college, and we used this type of pizza cutter. It was so much easier to use than the traditional rolling cutters. Cuts fast and mess free. I've always wondered why these were not found in stores. Anyway, I finally have this one, and it works GREAT. Nice clean cuts, and as someone has said, no pulling the toppings off while ROLLING a wheel cutter. I give it only four stars for one reason, although it will cut a frozen or bobali size pizza just fine (14"), I wish it was bigger for my larger homemade pies. It still works great for them (with 2 cuts), but I got spoiled working in that pizza joint cutting every size pizza with one cut. But I'm definately happy enough with this to buy again as gifts. This is the greatest pizza cutter I've ever had! It's so quick, clean and easy! Also works great on fudge (been making plenty of that lately). Cleans up easy. I love that it doesn't destroy the pizza when you cut it. I'd love to give these out as gifts.Buy LamsonSharp Stainless Steel Pizza Rocker Knife Now
I was concerned that this pizza knife might not be quite long enough for my homemade pizzas, which I bake on 14" pizza stones. Although the blade is actually 13" long--not 14" (believe me: I measured), the rocker action helped me gain the other 1" needed to slice thru my pizzas without repositioning. (The blade is sharp MOST of the way around; the first 1" of blade closest to the handle on each side hasn't been sharpened to protect you from cutting yourself.)If you're cutting a 14" pizza or smaller, you'll enjoy this knife. But it's a little more difficult to reach 14" needed than with a longer knife. (You have to go for the FULL rocking action to reach 14".)
Yet for the huge savings over most 20" rocking pizza knives--I'm happy. If I get tired of the "full rocking," I can always make my pizzas a tad smaller!

I was looking for a professional (like the ones I used while working at a certain pizza chain) rocker knife and was completely fooled by the picture of this item. It is a nice knife, but the size leaves something to be desired, along with the fact that you can't hang it without drilling your own hole. (As another reviewer stated)Want LamsonSharp Stainless Steel Pizza Rocker Knife Discount?
If you've ever used an ill-fitted tool for the job at hand you'll know this is the right one at first try. With excellent slicing action and size this pizza cutter has replaced all my previous (and good) cutters. The rocker action is much better than rollers or chopping knives, and the handles are well matched for good control.Global GS-7 - 4 inch, 10cm Paring Spear Knife
While renovating my meager kitchen, I recently splurged, spending over $330 on two Shun Elite knives. They were hand made Japanese knives--sexy and sleek, beautiful to look at it--and very sharp with a gleaming edge. They caught your eye with a dazzling patterned blade.A friend, inspired by my kitchen equipment renovation, went out and bought Global knives, preferring them for his high-tech shiny stainless kitchen. He asked me over for a cutlery show-down with my new Shun Elites. I was ready to rub his Globals into the dust with my Shun Elites!
After an entire afternoon of chopping and comparing, we both came to the same overwhelming conclusion--the Globals were sharper and easier to use. It's not that they are sharper per say, but if you examine them closely, the Global's edges are slightly concave, and are burred and rough, while the Shun Elites are polished to a gleaming and shiny finish, and taper to a much more straight point. My friend and I both felt that the Global's burred concave edges allowed the Globals to sorta gripe and slice/slid through everything from carrots to meat with more ease than the Shun's polished and acute edge. Because of this ease, we can also logically foresee the Global's staying sharper longer as well, despite the higher rockwell rating of the Shun's high tech SG-2 powder steel. However, who knows...?
We even tried shaving hair off of our arms, and the Globals won this test with ease. They are incredibly balanced and just seem to bounce in your hands.
This "Spear" 4" paring knife in particuar has a funky "ergonomic" handle that many have critizized, but I LOVE it! I fits my large manly man hands WONDERFULLY and makes this knife everything I have wanted in a small paring style knife. I can see where if you had smaller hands, this might not be the right choice for you--you might want to check out Global's Western style paring knife, which feels like the same ol' Henckels or Wusthoff to me--MUCH prefer the more comfortable and molded feel of this much more modern design...!
I loved my Shun Elites--they were sexy and beautiful. But the Globals were obviously designed by and for chefs--they are much easier and nicer to use, and as I said, they just effortlessly (read rip) through any food with no effort at all; I was very impressed--so much so that I returned my Shun Elites and exchanged them for a complete set of Globals, which are less than half the cost of the Elites--and I got twice as many knives (never have had a good bread or boning knife before!)
I highly recommend that if you are searching for truly sharp (as in Hello, Mr. Winter Squash!), easy to use kitchen cutlery, that feels like an extension of your hand and arm, that you check out Globals--the Shun Elites possibly as well. They are both wonderful knives, but I genuinely have to say I see why Globals are so popular with professional Chefs--they are awesome knives--maybe not as sexy and hand crafted as the Shun's, but they more than make up for that with an incredible ergonomic ease and free flowing sharpness that makes them a joy to use.I bought this knife after it was recommended in the book Kitchen Confidential. The knife is razor sharp, well balanced and it's very comfortable in the hand. Also, I accidently nicked myself with it -I was shocked both by my own stupidity and how flawlessly the cut healed because the knife was so sharp!

we already owned the 7-inch santoku knife, purchased locally from a kitchen retailer, and loved it. we were a little hesitant at first since we've only ever had cheaper knives, but as soon as we felt it in our hands and tried the knife we were sold. still, the 7-inch is a little big for small jobs, so we decided to get this 4-inch paring knife. i coupled a gift certificate with an amazon.com kitchen coupon promotion and was able to get the 4-inch paring knife and the 8-inch bread knife for a very good price. this should pretty much complete our knife set-from my experience these three knives are versatile enough for almost any job.the 4-inch paring knife, specifically, is great for smaller jobs where the santoku would be awkward. it's balanced perfectly, stays sharp, and since it's a single piece it cleans easily and you don't have to worry about the handle breaking.
all in all, great knife, and highly recommended.

I ordered this knife after being disappointed by the western style paring knife by Global. I sent it back because it was dull and I didn't like the way it felt in my hand it just felt too small or like it was gonna slip out of my hand so I spent a few more bucks and got this paring knife by Global... I love it. It came very sharp in fact I cut myself twice the first time I used it...I'm not complaining though it is what I wanted. I love the design and the way it fits in my hand I have small hands and I just hold it close to the top and hook my finger back behind the blade. This is by far my favorite knife in the kitchen I cut up fruit and vegetables everyday and I will wash this knife several times rather than reach for another. I bought these for my 4-year old to begin helping me with vegetables in the kitchen. We've been quite happy with them and he enjoys getting to help prepare dinner. As a bonus, these knives don't brown lettuce, so I'm using the large one to chop lettuce for salads and having it last longer!I bought this set because my kids showed some interest in cooking. They wanted to help me. At the time they were 4 and 6.
Those knives are great for cutting canned peaches, bananas, something really soft.
They will not cut carrots, tomatoes, etc.
It's not that they don't cut, it's just that the cut is rough and it's as good as snapping them with your hands. And the food flies everywhere(carrots and cucumbers). Kids might find it entertaining to see you picking them up, but it's not fun.
I will recommend this set to kids who want to "play chef", but the quality of the cut is not very attractive on the plate...

Obviously they do not just as well as a regular knive, but are great second option.
