J.A. Henckels International Eversharp Pro 3-Inch Stainless Steel Paring Knife

When I first saw this knife featured for a nominal price, I had to rub my eyes to be sure I was seeing right. The word Henckels for cutlery is synonymous with top quality...like Mercedes or Jaeguar is for automobiles. I own some of their premier line of cutlery, the Pro S series, and am spoiled for life. I have paid a young fortune for some of my Henckels knives. (By the way, Amazon is offering several Pro S series knives at a very sweet price right now. Check out their chef's knives.) Since I did not own a 3-inch paring knife, I decided to give this little guy a test drive and am happy to report that it went through the cones with flying colors.

Henckels simply does not make junk, so even with this knife, which is one of their lower end models, you are still getting a good knife. It fits nicely in the hand (especially if you have small hands), and it has good balance. The handle and rivits appear to be the same or very similar to my Pro S series knives; the only difference I see is that the blade is a little thinner. Since paring knives aren't intended to replace the larger utility or chef's knives, just be sure not to tackle large or thick objects with it and you'll do just fine. For the price you get a big bang for your buck. Oh, by the way, invest in the Henckels stone honing tool. Always hone your knife before each use, and clean it (by hand) immediately after use. This is essential to keeping your knives their sharpest and insuring their use for a lifetime.

This is a great knife. I had one for 5 years before the tip broke when my boyfriend used it to pry apart two frozen hamburger patties (which was "user error" in my mind). It stays sharp and was inexpensive enough that I don't fret about putting it in the dishwasher, which I would never do with higher quality, more expensive Henkles.

I have never bought a paring knife before and have always used a steak knife for small jobs. I decided to try a paring knife after trying one at a friend's house.

I am very happy with the performance and convenience that this knife affords.

The construction seems excellent with the blade running all the way through the handle and the sharpness is excellent. Only time will tell how long the sharpness lasts.

Used to be Eversharps paring knife was smaller and it fit in my hand better. These work well for a larger paring knife. Love the fine serrations in the smaller knives in this line. The Chefs knife size was a tosser. The serrations were too rough.

LEATHER KNIFE COVER

These leather knife blade covers work good as the leather provides great protection for the carver. Some carvers use wine corks but the blade edge isn't covered. With these covers, the blade is inserted into paper that is inside the sleeve,thus the tip and blade edge is protected. This is a great tool for running around the edge of a cake pan to loosen the cake, for mixing smaller bowls of dip or frosting and for spreading frosting or smoothing the top of batter before baking. It's smaller than a regular spatula but long enough to use mixing in a small saucepan. These tools will not melt. My other spatulas from Gastro Max are 8 years old and have outlived many inferior look-alikes that have not had the strength or heat resistance. I was delighted to find these tools on Amazon.

I use the module for professional knife sharpening. I use a second, cheaper machine for deburring, and then use the stropping wheels to finish. Doing this, I get some 500 knives per module sharpening mostly home damaged knives, meaning rather heavy sharpening. Knicks and broken tips are dealt with separately. A couple years ago there was a run of these modules with poor quality cubic boron nitride wheels, (not diamond, by the way)that only lasted about 200 knives. These seem to have worked their way out of inventory and the modules are now back to as before.

Picnic Time Wine Country Tote with Cheese Service and Corkscrew

I got this as a wedding gift. We use it all the time. It easily fits two bottles of wine, snacks and comes with a board and knife for cheeses. We use it more often for road trips to hold all of our snacks and a couple of bottles of wine to enjoy once we reach our destination. The only thing I would change about the bag is the long strap for carrying. It connects at both ends on the front of the bag. If you have two bottles of wine in the bag it evens out but if you don't it feels like you are going to dump your contents without an extra hand on the bag for stabilization. It's not a big deal but I would have liked it better if the strap was on each side of the bag not just the front side. Other then that the quality is great and we will continue to us it often.

Slitzer 8pc Professional German Style Jumbo Steak Knives

I bought these knives as extras for when I have people over for a BBQ. The serrations are very large,the blades are dull and just tear the meat rather than cut it. For the price they work with some extra effort and as basically throwaways they meet the need, but if I was looking for day to day steak knives I would have sent these back.

As other reviewers have noted,these are large German-style steak knifes. The handles and blade are about 2x as wide as a typical steak knifes and about 1/8th longer; the blade thickness is the same as a typical steak knife but the handle is about 1/3 thicker I still find them comfortable to hold even though I have very small hands, but I would think these would be too big for most kids under 12. They have nice, smooth contoured black wooden handles with full tang blades with 3 rivets. The blades are stamped stainless and look and feel like good quality high-carbon stainless steel, which is what it also says on the box they came in. The curved portion of the blade is serrated from 1/2 inch below the point through the curve of the blade and the rest is just a straight edge (except there is about one-third inch of the bottom of the blade with no edge, which is typical on most steak knives I believe this is a safety feature so you don't cut yourself if you grip the handle too high). These were a little dull out of the box, but sharpened easily and seem to hold an edge well. I've had them about a month and so far I like them a lot they are surprisingly comfortable to hold and use, cut decently, wash easily, look great and seem to be wearing well. I've had guests over a few times and used these the size got smiles and laughs every time, followed by exclamations on the nice quality, how comfortable and easy to use they are and where did I get them, lol. So if you want a bigger, more substantial steak knife, these are a good choice. The only caveat is since they are only half-serrated, you need to keep them sharp so they will cut well, which is why I removed one star have to admit I'd like them even better if the blades were serrated along their entire length.

Others have written how good these knives are. Presumably one of three things happened in that case. 1: I did not get the same knives they did, 2: they got good versions of the junk I got, or 3: They were not honest about their comments. I do not know which it would be, but I can state, categorically, that these knives are pure junk. Not sharp, rip meat, loose handles that allow matter to seep under them, and leak water after the knife is dried. Two handles really bad, with cracks round the rivet and rough edges.

If you receive the same knives I did, you will be truly sorry, even if they were inexpensive.

I've had my very own black granite board for 2 weeks now. It rocks.

For 5 years, I've been feverishly cutting, dicing, and slicing on a set of white plastic boards from IKEA. I only ever used the large one--really, when do you need just the small one? At this point, it's gotten so knicked up I fear I'm ingesting more extra harmful bacteria than my immune system can handle.

Enter--this fabulous cutting board. It's pretty, which earns it some points, and super easy to whip in and out of the cupboard (it easily fits in the same one I keep cookie sheets in) with its handle. Its rubberized grip keeps it firmly planted on the counter so I don't unwittingly fling little bits of onion into the eyes of innocent bystanders. Unlike other reviewers, I haven't noticed nicks yet. I do keep my knives super sharp with sharpening stones and a leather strop (maybe that helps?). If you don't, I highly recommend it--plus you get the added bonus of telling people you use a leather strop.

The only con would be the meat cutting side. Somehow I overlooked that small detail when I ordered. I thought the cutting board was the same on both sides. Alas. I'm a vegetarian, so I don't have a use for that side. Or at least, my creativity hasn't rose to the challenge.

Summary: It's a cutting board. It works. It's big enough for whatever your heart desires, but not too big. Goldilocks would approve. Happy chopping!

Cuisinox Stainless Steel Water Pitcher in Satin Finish - 2.1 Quart

I got this pitcher because I often use one to serve beverages for dinners with company. My sons in law both commented that it poured a nice stream that didn't come back and wash down the side. It does seem to make a nice, even stream which does not dribble. I especially like that the pitcher is metal and therefore cannot break. The metal also has a buffed finish that does not show finger prints. I use it for juices in the morning, water, iced tea with dinner...you name it! Great pitcher!

Glass breaks, but metal rusts. Due to the thinness of the metal in this pitcher and the spot welding I can see this pitcher rusting sooner rather than later which is disappointing. Maybe it won't. The handle is hollow, not solid.

Other than that, the pitcher has good balance when filled: it won't topple over and it is easy to pour. The ice guard is handy if you want one but the pouring hole is smaller than I would like so you can't quite pour drinks quickly like a battle-tested trucker diner waitress but more leisurely like a country-club gentleman in waiting.

Metal pitchers are great for cooling down hot drinks...you dip them in cold water and the conduction rapidly cools off the liquid and you don't have to worry about shattered glass in your mint-julip. I wish it wasn't so expensive, I would give it 5 stars even with the thin metal.

This pitcher was kept in a cool and dry Connecticut home.What's more, it was never even used! My wife had it in a cupboard and was planning on using this for an upcoming family gathering.

This product only has a 14 day return policy and it's obviously because it's a lousy product and the seller knows it. I paid 37 dollars for this thing and it's not even worth what I could get for 10 dollars at the grocery store.

The pitcher is not the quality I was expecting. I needed a handsome stainless pitcher to use for BBQs on the patio as well as serving at the dining room table. By looking at the photo, it appeared to have all the qualities I was wanting. However upon opening the box, the pitcher is light weight and more troubling, the ice guard is nearly flat and with the small hole for the liquid to pour from, it is a normal reflex to tip the pitcher more which allows the liquid to pour over the ice guard (not good). In addition to the ice guard being nearly flat, unlike the photo shows, the guard is attached to the pitcher a little off center and the weld is not complete around the guard to the edge of the pitcher. Very disappointing, but I needed to use it so did not have enough time to return it and look for another. Disappointing, at best.

It works ok, it's a little tricky to put the can in the right spot to open it, but after you properly place it, it opens it very easily. In regards to the "knife sharpener" that it's included, it's the worse, I actually though it didn't have it. It's manual, not electric, it's like a little splice on the back where you're supposed to pass the knife back and forth. I kept my old can opener just so I can use the electric sharpener that it has. But overall it's a good value for the price

A constant fight to get the can on the opener, big cansforget about it. My wife has gone back to the manual opener. Honestly, I had a better can opener in the 70's.

Bellamo 26 piece bamboo look flatware set

I purchased two sets of these and came back for a third set. the set itself is well made and very elegant. I would definately recommend this to my friends.

Received two sets (service for eight) in perfect condition. I will give it to the other reviewer that these are not the highest quality items ever made. But, at the price they are sold, do you expect that? I hope not. For the price, they are more than acceptable. I love these because they are fun, but they don't hold up forever. I have a tiki themed motorhome that i use these in. Since they just get occasional use they are fine. I had some that i used in the house for regular use and after a couple months the handles start to fall off. I won't use them in my kitchen any more for that reason, but as a novelty for camping trips i'd say they were worth the price and will buy more when the ones i have break.

I regret ordering these -we just got these a few weeks ago for outdoor eating, and four forks have snapped in half already. I cut my finger when one of them snapped in my hand while holding a piece of meat to cut. Unless you're just eating soft food, I don't recommend this product at all.

We ordered 12 place settings of black flatware based on previous laguiole buys and their reputation. We were very disappointed. The teaspoon is child size as though it had been pulled from a child set and substituted in. It is literally non functional. With the exception of the knife which was lovely weight and design, the rest of the set was light weight and very cheap feeling and looking. I have bought many things on line and this is the first time I am sending an item back. Would not recommend to anyone.

My experience with a set of Laguiole flatware is the same as the other two reviewers. The rivets are poorly made and, consequently, the pieces used most frequently [teaspoons] "boing!" apart. I had gotten this set [yellow with a design of olives/leaves] as I liked the idea of having something from France be part of my day [unabashed Francophile here]. So disappointing. And, yes, the teaspoons are quite small almost demitasse size. Great for cutting down on super rich icecreams.

part that breaks is the small silver cap. The rivets are poorly secured and they just fall apart. Others, the black plastic

We have had a multicolored set (for 18) for about 5 years now. We HAND WASH them, as dishwasher detergents and heat-dry can damage ANY plastic handles (as has happened to other sets of ours.) We have not had a single problem with them and what gorgeous accessories they are for setting our table! Yes, the teaspoons ARE small, as they are in two Italian-designed sets we own, but, so what?!?! They still function.

Global G-19 - 11 inch, 27cm Flexible Fillet Knife

We were in the market for a flexible fillet knife of the "chef's knife" style, as opposed to the hunting style thin, crescent ones (that are often serrated and smaller). Global is a name brand manufacturer of stamped knives, so we decided to give this a try. *I had also seen this knife in the hands of many a sous chef on Iron Chef and thought that should be a good indicator for its quality.

Apart from the commendable construction, the blade is in fact extremely flexible, and the knife itself is super light. If you are tearing into a large salmon, or meat, it is nice to be able to smoothly glide the knife's edge along without ever really feeling it in your hand. It has done an great job at holding its edge, and of course if you do sharpen it you will want to use a whetstone or send it to be done properly.

You should be aware that this is longer than a 10 inch chef's knife, and therefore may not fit in many knife blocks. We purchased the Wusthof 35 Slot Storage Block, Cherry that works wonderfully with it. A magnet strip would also work nicely (or a drawer).

Perfect for filleting. We still use our 10 inch chef's knife and YOSHIHIRO Hammered Damascus Japanese chef Knife Usuba /Vegetable Knife 6.3" 160mm MADE IN JAPAN knife for most day to day work, but in a pinch this would be a worthy substitute for most kitchen chores.

Chicago Cutlery Insignia Kitchen Scissors, Blue

They may come apart a little too easily, but the screwdriver end is handy for prying and the blades are sharp and strong. I've been very happy with these after another brand failed on me.

I think I had a brown pair for about 15 years that we used for every thing and everywhere. They cut through chicken bones and all of my other kitchen and garden needs. Cuisinart CA-X Open Stock Santoku Knife

I travel quite a bit, and I don't want to take my expensive knives with me. Enter little Cuisinart santoku! I love it, because it's small, yet I can use it to chop vegetables without mashing my knuckles on the cutting board. We don't even need a paring knife, because the santoku can handle little jobs too. I haven't had any trouble with rusting, except a few times when it got left in standing water--and the rust sharpened right off.

For the price, what's not to like?

I got this santoku as part of a general kitchen improvement. I found myself running out of knives when we had largish groups of people here for various special days. This is one of perhaps 6 of this style that I bought this santoku gets a lot of use, as does it's smaller brother. The 8 inch chef's is another contender for most-used. Overall, I rate this knife and all the members of its set as totally acceptable they take and hold an edge well, they're comfortable in (my) hand, and they were reasonably priced. For me it was a winning combination.
