LamsonSharp Oyster Knife - Walnut

LamsonSharp Oyster Knife - WalnutOn my first day ever shucking some soon-to-be friends at the table next to us allowed me to use this. I didn't find it flimsy or of poor quality. Actually, I found it to be quite sturdy. The owners were seasoned oyster lovers and claimed this to be "the" knife which other should be compared. Yes, it has a slightly curved tip. I don't think I needed the added safety of that, but the more cautious of the two diners appreciated the added measure. The wood grip was thick and did not slip even when wet. As a rookie user, I found it excellent and actually wrote this review because it will soon find a place in our utensil drawer.

The blade of this knife is thin and curved. They don't tell you that in the specifications. I bought two of these and the tips of the knives are so thin that they break off and send metal flying.

Buy LamsonSharp Oyster Knife - Walnut Now

I had a more narrow knife before this one...which broke. With the more narrow knife I put it in the oyster and twist. I tried twisting with this knife and almost hurt myself several times. I was confused, it looked like a great knife but wasn't working well.

I then noticed that it had a curve on the end and was more broad that my previous knife, so I just pushed it up to the shell and pried it open with a downward movement...it works flawlessly!

Godinger BAROQUE CAKE KNIFE

Godinger BAROQUE CAKE KNIFEHad this at our wedding and we kept it afterward and also got the matching flatware. Love the design and very good quality.

I originally bought this set because I have the server which I bought at a small boutique for my wedding. I wanted to find the matching knife. However, since the knife is never sold separately I decided to buy the set.

It arrived sooner than expected in good condition at an excellent price. There was some tarnish but that is to be expected because it is silver. Matches the original server I have perfectly, but then again it does not have to because it came with both the knife and server.

Overall, very happy with the product. It is beautiful!

I wanted to edit my review. My seller was M & S Gifts to be clear.

Gastromax Heat Resistant Nylon Pastry Spreading Knife and Mixing Spatula - 9.25 Inch

Gastromax Heat Resistant Nylon Pastry Spreading Knife and Mixing Spatula - 9.25 InchThis is a great tool for running around the edge of a cake pan to loosen the cake, for mixing smaller bowls of dip or frosting and for spreading frosting or smoothing the top of batter before baking. It's smaller than a regular spatula but long enough to use mixing in a small saucepan. These tools will not melt. My other spatulas from Gastro Max are 8 years old and have outlived many inferior look-alikes that have not had the strength or heat resistance. I was delighted to find these tools on Amazon.

I needed a nylon knife to work around inside my non-stick pans. The last thing I want to do is to use a metal utensil in my non-stick! The problem I faced was that I couldn't find a sturdy enough nylon knife to do everything I needed it to do. Enter the Gastromax knife. This nylon knife is unlike the poorly made plastic and nylon utensils I have used in the past. It is sturdy, rigid, and yet flexible enough to work around the edge of a non-stick pan without cutting into it. The bonus is that it can be used to spread frosting, to work hot chocolate in your double boiler, or a wide array of other cooking needs. It is quite versatile in my kitchen.

I am not at all disappointed with my purchase and I don't think you will be, too.

Chicago Cutlery Metropolitan 8-Piece Block Set

Chicago Cutlery Metropolitan 8-Piece Block SetBest buy by Consumer Reports but quality disappointing. After only a couple of months there's space between the blade and handle of a couple of the knives. Would not order again.

This set is a steal at under $50US and they cut very well and got great remarks in consumer reports. However, they certainly arn't a Henckels and feel light in the hand.

If you want a basic kitchen set, this is the way to go. If you appreciate finer things, buy Henckels or Wüsthof

Excellent razor sharp knife set. This set is not drop forged, but is very well made and holds a razor edge with just a little sharpening once in a while. I bought this set because it was highly recommended by Consumer Reports Magazine, and I was not dissapointed in its performance. I gave it four stars because it is not drop forged and the balance is not great, but I still highly recommended it.

I've had a Chicago Cutlery set for 21 years, and it's been great. I've lost about three of the knives in that time, but the others still work fine. When I wanted to replace the set, though, this was the closest I could come to the Walnut set I had. I'm okay with the black, and the knives I received are quite sharp. But I was sent a 9-slot block for 8 knives, and the biggest disappointment is that there is no bread knife. So I am keeping my old set on the counter, something I'd wished to avoid. Also, the black knives are just not of the same quality as what I received for my wedding over two decades ago. Still, they are better than other knives I've tried, and if you don't mind unused slots in your block, this set is a good as any other.

Decent for price but seem to constantly need sharpening and blades developed rust spots pretty quickly.

All-Clad Stainless 7-1/2-Inch French Skillet

All-Clad Stainless 7-1/2-Inch French SkilletHaving owned a restaurant and now retired, All Clad are the pans we use and trust to provide even heat. Now having added an INDUCTION cook top this SS magnetic pan works great so we save on electric use, don't have a hot stove top after cooking so don't overheat the kitchen. Highly recommended.

I had to alter my cooking procedures slightly from what I did with my old non-stick surface. Using spray olive oil and heating the pan slowly before adding food but once you figure it out the pans work great and omelets and eggs come out perfect with virtually no clean-up. The pans heat evenly and look great on the rack.

All Clad really needs to up their standards and stop making their crap out of RECYCLED stainless. Only heaven knows what this pan was before it was a pan!

Sabatier 10 Inch Forged Carbon Steel Chef Knife Made in France

Sabatier 10 Inch Forged Carbon Steel Chef Knife Made in Franceif you know knives, and you like carbon steel, you will love this knife. this knife is not faberware. its not high chromium super hard steel. it is NOT stainless and does require more care than german stainless knives such as wusthof or henckels. it must be dried immediately after use to prevent rust, and will require a few extra passes across a steel each time you use it. it will oxidize and the shiny finish will darken the first time you use it on anything containing iron (meat). this is NORMAL. it is part of the characteristics of carbon steel cutlery. if you look on ebay you will see old grungy looking knives covered in dark patina selling for upwards of $250 and in good condition they are worth every penny. to find a k sabatier at this price without having to pay $30-40 for international shipping from france is unheard of.

this is a relatively new seller on amazon, without much of a track record. i decided to take a chance and am very satisfied. they shipped within 48 hours, and i have the knife 48 hours in advance of my expected delivery date.

the feel, fit, and finish is exceptional. it has a full tang, brass riveted handle which is just about perfectly balanced so us pros that have a knife in our hand 40+ hours a week can use it with little fatigue. once you develop a good patina on your knife you will also notice that food sticks less to carbon steel than high chromium stainless. the shape of the french chef's knife is slightly straighter and thinner than german cutlery which makes it less suited for a rocking motion, but its like a razor when it comes to slicing. one last time as a caveat, this is carbon steel, you cannot dunk it in a bucket of sanitizer and leave it there all night, and if you ever put it through the dishwasher (which will not only stain and pit the metal, but will remove the temper from the blade), please immediately remember this review and slap yourself for me.

with proper care, this knife will end up with your children, and thats no exaggeration as i know people with both solingen (germany) and thiers-sabatier (france) cutlery that is upwards of 80-100 years old.

This knife is excellent. Amazon and China Fair Inc. are great to deal with. The bottom line for the knife is that dollar for dollar carbon steel will out perform stainless by a good margin. Terminology can be confusing since all steel contains carbon, and can be a "high carbon" version. However, stainless steel also has about 13 percent chromium alloyed with the steel to resist rust and stains. The newer tech stainless "super steels" and Japanese layered steels give incredibly outstanding performance but are both very expensive. In this price range, however, you simply can not beat carbon steel for ease of sharpening, attaining a very smooth, sharp edge, holding the edge, and maintaining the edge. The only drawback is a little extra care and maintenance and appreciating the beauty of patina over shine. This knife is a quality carbon (not stainless) knife. Choose a stainless knife if you prefer easy maintenance and shiny looks. Choose carbon for cutting performance.

Steel is iron with carbon. Carbon makes steel harder than iron and makes the steel able to be heat treated and tempered to a very high degree of hardness. Plain carbon steel (without the chromium) is better with this process because stainless becomes more brittle during heat treatment. Also, carbon steel will sharpen into a nicer edge just like smooth peanut butter spreads smoother than "chunky". Also, when you straighten out an edge with a steel rod the plain carbon is more forgiving of being worked back into place and can do it more times before needing actual sharpening.

Dulling of a knife edge starts with tiny bends in the extremely sharp thin edge. If neglected, the edge becomes really dull when these tiny bends bend clear over and sometimes break. Frequently "steeling" a knife with a honing rod straightens the small bends back in place and greatly slows the dulling process. Sharpening (cutting the steel edge with a stone) is postponed for a long time by keeping the edge straight. All knives need this, but plain carbon steel tolerates this better and will last longer between sharpenings and then even be easier to sharpen. A smooth honing steel like the Victorinox, and an easy to use sharpening guide like the Lansky will keep your good carbon knife a superior performer that will last your whole life.

I communicated with China Fair Inc by e-mail before ordering. Their incredibly quick response and good information convinced me they are indeed knowledgeable and passionate about their lines of quality French and German knives. They shipped really fast. I highly recommend China Fair and this particular knife.

Buy Sabatier 10 Inch Forged Carbon Steel Chef Knife Made in France Now

As far as I can determine this is an authentic, Thiers-forged K-Sabatier knife, offered here for about the same price that K-Sabatier charges through their website. The rivets on the knife that I received are brass, rather than stainless as in the image (brass rivets may indicate an older date of manufacture, which is probably a plus for those who want to buy this kind of knife). Other than that the knife is exactly as advertised.

This knife has a classic French shape. It offers the robust construction of a German knife (like Wusthof or Henckels) with nearly the grace and lightness of a Japanese knife. The blade has a small, thin bolster or finger guard, a large, heavy, comfortable handle, and a relatively narrow profile. From the edge of the blade to the spine it is shorter than a classic German knife, though it is not so thin or so straight that you cannot use it to rock cut when mincing. It is very well balanced. The blade is thicker than many Japanese knives, but not obtrusive or clumsy.

Sabatier finished this knife very well I found no aesthetic or manufacturing flaws, only imperfections that show that the knife was made by hand.

Sabatier makes this knife from carbon steel, not stainless steel. As other reviewers have said this requires some special care. I found the carbon steel of this particular Sabatier to be less reactive than some (much less reactive than the similar carbon steel of my Sabatier Nogent chef's knife). I cut onions and shallots with it for a few days before it began to develop a faint patina. The metal never stained food or caused a foul odor, which is apparently a problem with some low-quality carbon steels. I like the patina so I haven't tried to remove it; the internet claims that you can do so with baking soda and a champagne cork.

The knife was not particularly sharp when it arrived; this is reportedly not unusual for Thiers-manufactured knives. It took a very fine edge when I sharpened it, and it has held this edge well during use.

On a less tangible level I find this knife fun to use and well behaved. You can tell that Sabatier has made knives of this shape and profile for so long for a reason it feels comfortable and natural in the hand and it excels at all kinds of food prep tasks, from mincing herbs to portioning raw meat (of course this should be true of all chef's knives, in an ideal world). This K-Sabatier feels tough when using it I never worry that it will chip or bend, as I sometimes do with more delicate Japanese knives (many of which imitate this French blade shape).

It is difficult to believe that you can get a knife of this quality for less than one hundred dollars. This is an absolutely superb chef's knife, and it should last a lifetime. I recommend it very highly.

This is the real deal. If you want a great chef's knife, buy this one. I have dozens of high quality kitchen knives (Wusthof, Henckels, Sabatier, Masamoto, F. Dick, Suisin, etc., etc..), but this is now my favorite of all of them. It feels sooo good in the hand. Perfect balance, light, agile. Honestly it feels like an 8" knife, not a 10". That's the first thing: a knife has to feel good when you use it. Secondly, it sharpens wickedly sharp in just a few minutes. So easy to get a razor edge on it. Third, and most important for some, it's LESS than HALF the price of anything comparable. Downside? Nothing for me, but some people will object to it being a carbon steel knife. You don't need to do anything different to maintain this knife vs. stainless, BUT, you need to do it right away. You cannot leave it lying around wet. It must be wiped and dried promptly. Is that too much to ask? Yes, it may discolor from acid foods. So what? If you don't like that, simply go over it with a Scotchbrite or a wine cork and some scouring cleanser or baking soda. In other words, this is a terrific knife for those of us who take care of our knives.

Wow! This is an amazing chef's knife. I work in the culinary industry and use my knife extensively each day and where my previous knife quickly would lose an edge even with honing the K Sabatier does not. It is easily the best chefs knife I have ever owned my career. There is one point I would like to make there is the many questions I have seen on Amazon about is this a real K Sabatier? Because I guess evidently there are some fakes out there. The knife in the picture featured shows silver rivets, but the knife you will receive if you purchase the carbon steel will have brass rivets. I to of course was concerned with this. I went to K Sabatier's company website and noticed they did not have any knives posted either with brass rivets. I then e-mailed the company and asked them about this issue. The official answer is the knives with brass rivets are carbon steel knives and that is how the company distinguishes carbon steel from stainless steel is with the brass rivets and they were able to verify its authenticity. So when you're carbon steel knives has brass rivets don't be alarmed and be prepared to use an amazing piece of cutlery.

Chicago Cutlery Accessories 4-Piece Paring/Utility Knife Set with Colored Handles

Chicago Cutlery Accessories 4-Piece Paring/Utility Knife Set with Colored HandlesI have owned Global, Shun (ken onion series), Furi, Ran, Henckles, Wousthof, Chroma, Mac and most recently, got myself a Haiku. I cook professionally, spend my days in a professional kitchen, I have 14 sets of knives ranging from 3pcs to 8pcs sets. I love knives.

So, here is my review of these knives. Good utility knife set. Handles are big enough to fit in your hand, sharp enough to do "simple" cutting, blade is thick enough to stand abuse and they are very light. Rating, Price, quality and performance were all considered as a WHOLE.

Workmanship, I would say, it's excellent for a $4.00 knife set. I can't compare them to my other knives which cost 10x or 20x more than these. But, considering the price I paid for, they are great. I keep them by my side especially the serrated ones.

And I'm just sadden coz, people should know, there is no such thing as "stainless steal" or rust proof knife. They all stain. That's why never, ever put your knives in the dishwasher. Wash them by hand and dry them with a towel. Even with care, with age, you'll notice staining on your knives. Good luck.

For the current price (four bucks) these are a good deal. Just don't expect them to be very sharp. The blades are unusually large and unusually thick. This makes them strong, but not sharp.

So sharp I cut myself the first time I used them ... I must have been thinking of my OLD knives that I passed along to someone else. This little set was such a good buy! I am quite impressed and didn't think I would like the colored handles... I do! It is very easy to pull them out of the block and know which knife it is because of the color. Granted, they don't match my wooden Chicago Cutlery set, but the quality is still there! I liked them so much I bought TWO sets. You can't go wrong @ 3.99 for FOUR knives! A+ in my book.

Three out of the four knives began rusting after only one or two uses. I am not suprised because they were so cheap, but I am surprised by the good reviews. Perhaps my situation is unique, but nothing else in our house is rusting!

This set of four knives is the same great quality of more expensive knives and they are a fraction of the cost. The knife blades are Chicago Cutlery quality at the best price I've ever paid for a knife (much less a set of four) ever in my life. The sturdy colored handles make it easy to identify each knife blade, they contour fit the hand well and you can leave in water without the worry of warping. With four knife blades to choose from there is a knife for almost anything you need to do in the kitchen.

Arthur Court Grape 5-Piece 20-Inch by 13-Inch Entertainment Tray

Arthur Court Grape 5-Piece 20-Inch by 13-Inch Entertainment TrayA little pricey? Yes. But I've got lots of Arthur Court pieces and first, they are easy to care for. Hand wash and dry. No polishing required. Second, they are metal so they can stand up to a little abuse...you don't have to worry about it cracking or chipping if you accidentally set it down too hard. This Grape Entertainment Tray is definitely one of my favorite pieces, and I guarantee it will be used more than any other tray I have. It comes apart so it's easy to clean. You can have two kinds of dip, or if you prefer cubed cheese, ham or turkey thanks to the two bowls that hook onto the sides...and they stay in place ! And there is also the plateau in the center for a block of cheese. There is plenty of room left over for crackers, sliced pita bread, or party bread. This platter is TO DIE FOR! Matter of fact, I'd like to have a second. Buy it..you will NOT be disappointed. It is a beautiful work of art that you can use every day.

John Boos 18-Inch Octagonal Cutting Board

John Boos 18-Inch Octagonal Cutting BoardI bought this item so that I will NEVER have to buy another cutting board again. My cabinet is full of warped, cracked "quality" boards. The delivery box was broken and the board was loose. I expected to see the board was damaged but it was not. It is a sturdy, very thick (3 inches!), gorgeous cutting board with handles for ease of cleaning. The problem was it was very, very dry and needed to be oiled immediately. You should order the oil at the same time so you can treat it right away. Now that I've oiled it several times, it is the best cutting board I've ever used. Although it is quite heavy. I recommend Boos. I understand they are the BEST cutting boards you can buy and mine was worth the $$$.

Amazon did a great job of packing this item: the box was gigantic and well padded. The board arrived in perfect condition. We have not yet had a chance to use the board, but it looks beautiful.

Excalibur 9 Tray Large Food dehydrator with 26 hour Timer + Preserve It Naturally Book + Paraflexx Premium Reusable Sheet 14X14 + Knife Set 7PC with Pine Block + Bamboo Toast Tong - 6.5 Inch LongFirst of all, let me say that I love this Excalibur dehydrator. I use it all the time because I am a Raw Food Vegan and this has been such a great product. 5 stars for this dehydrator. I love the fact it has a timer and how easy it is to use. However, I recommend buying the dehydrator by itself and ordering the Paraflexx nonstick sheets separately. The knives that came with this item are cheap and very dull, and note that you are only getting ONE Paraflexx sheet for the 9 trays in the dehydrator. When I bought this, the title said sheets, so I thought I was getting 9 sheets. When it came with only one, I contacted the seller and discovered that only one came with it. I was upset that I had spent the extra money to get things I didn't need when I could have used it to buy all 9 Paraflexx sheets. Thankfully, the seller was helpful and sent me 4 more sheets because of the misunderstanding, so at least I have 5 nonstick sheets.

Anyway, overall this deal isn't worth it. I strongly suggest you buy this dehydrator along with the sheets separately. Don't waste your money on this deal. 5 Stars for the Excalibur 3926TW Dehydrator though.

Chroma 3-Piece Knife Set

Chroma 3-Piece Knife SetThese knives are amazingly sharp. They slice through everything with ease. Butterflying a chicken breast was a breeze, the knife sliced through like a razor blade. Even though the handles look like they could be uncomfortable, they fit your hand perfectly. I have also handled these knives wet and I didn't get the feeling that they were going to slip out of my hands. I beleive the pearl between the blade and the handle helped me keep a secure grip while the knife was wet. Overall these knives are terrific and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitating.

Beauty, elegance, and balance. I own A LOT of kitchen knives. I'm addicted.

The design and thought that went into this knife is amazing. At first, it seems uncomfortable to hold, or weird. But, once you've taken this knife and held it and chop a couple of vegetable, you're hand will quickly form onto the knife as you grip. Your palm will gently rest on it's handle and because of the design, more of your power will be transfered thru the knife and into the vegetable or fruit you are cutting. This knife is beautiful, useful and ergonomic.

Toastmaster 6102 Electric Carving Knife

Toastmaster 6102 Electric Carving KnifeOkay, I bought for the price. And it is effective enough. But it is very clumsy and unergonomic, so that after a couple minutes of use it is difficult to handle any longer. The main problems are: Balance of weight, and the switch.

First, the switch: Because it is a cheap push-in button, which must be constantly depressed to keep the knife on, you lose optimum control quickly. The handle is badly placed for this, as your thumb must always be on TOP of the handle and forward toward the front of it, but you can't hold your hand up there because your wrist angle will be completely wrong for cutting. In addition, keeping that button depressed is difficult not only because it does require a constant application of pressure at a different direction from both the grasp and the application of the knife, but because the button sinks deep into the handle, so your thumb is inside the handle as you're trying to hold and control the knife: Quick cramp. Moreover, as you're pushing it in, if the food you're cutting is moist (like a turkey), juices may run onto the handle, your thumb--and into the hole into which you're pressing the button. NOT safe. A couple times I've wondered whether that shooting pain in my thumb was from nerve torture or electric shock; either way, it wasn't good.

Then the weight distribution of the knife is not very good. Look at the huge bulk of the motor--and then look at where the handle is located, and how it is designed. There's no way to hold this at a proper angle with the handle shaped as it is. Add in the need to be depressing the power button as you're holding it awkwardly, and...

2 stars for effectiveness; minus 3 for bad functional design.

This knife was purchased for us as a wedding gift and we've used it for 10 years. Not all the time, mind you, but for special occasions like Thanksgiving. It's always worked well, never jammed, and it just slices through a turkey like it was butter. We've had nothing but good to say about this knife and for the money, well, it's hard to go wrong! But, if you are looking for something to use more consistently, I would definitely recommend a better brand because I honestly don't think this one would hold up well under a lot of use.

Buy Toastmaster 6102 Electric Carving Knife Now

Price was a factor in buying, but I wanted mostly for slicing bread machine bread. The bit at the end of the blades get hung up in my Presto slicing guide as the blades are too short; further, the switch is extremely temperamental and only works if you move your thumb around a lot. I'd return it, if the postage, packaging and trip to post office were worth it + trying to dig up original cash receipt! These people do NOT want return business! (They've been bought by Salton, so they use this brand for junk)

The Toastmaster electric knife is great, especially for adults with small hands. Most of the current models of other electric knives don't have a handle to grasp; and because the outside of the knife is smooth, it is quite slippery. Thus, it is difficult to grasp the knife. The Toastmaster's handle makes for easy holding during use.

However, all the manufacturers would be wise to lengthen the knives to the size they were decades ago and charge a few more bucks.

This is the biggest drawback of the Toastmaster -it's blades are shorter than other models.

I received my shipment in record speed timing! Brand new, still in the wrapper. Works beautifully! Although I must confess, I'm using it to cut foam wedges (up to 8 " thick) for upholstery cushions. It works perfectly, doesn't get hot after long non-stop cutting. Excellent clean cuts.

... Not exactly what it's made for... but then again, I'm a vegetarian.

Apple Peeler Pro Replacement Blade

Apple Peeler Pro Replacement BladeI thought I was going to get four blades in the set per order as stated but it was actually only one blade. (I had ordered four sets (so I expected 16 blades) so the total with shipping was about $25.) I only got four blades! I was very disappointed as the entire apple peeler with three replacement blades cost only $10 when I bought it at Christmas two years ago. The product itself is great, but this is a rip off! Bottom Line: they are cheap plastic disposable blades that would reasonable cost about $1 each. (Again, worth the initial $10 for the peeler, corer, slicer, and three blades when all packaged together...NOT $4 each blade!!!) Additionally, they charged me almost $10 in shipping when on their web link they say maximum cost for a package under 1lbs in the continental US is less than $6. When I got the package I saw that they paid only $1.75 to ship it. The site was misleading saying there were 4 blades per order...I want my money back!!

Sellers like this are the reason for "buyer beware" warnings.

$3.99 for the blade, $6.40 for the shipping.

Don't let them slip one by you. You will pay over $10 for this item. You can get a NEW PEELER for less than that, with free shipping.

Very happy to have replacement parts. The only reason I took off a star is because it was only last year that I purchased my flatware and the price of this recently-purchased set was MUCH higher. Otherwise, it's a great set, just much more expensive here for only 20 pieces (4 of each).

Ontario Knives Household Boning Knife

Ontario Knives Household Boning KnifeI grew up with Old Hickory knives in general and the boning knife(among others) in particular. Living on a farm, we butchered our own livestock and this was one of the knives of choice. I have a variety of Old Hickory knives (including a boning knife in my kitchen even today. They are a good high carbon steel and are easily sharpened and resharpened.

For those of you used to the stainless steel knives that flood todays market, a work of warning and advice. Carbon steel will rust! Never, ever, put these knives in a dishwasher or leave them in water. Always hand wash with hot soapy water, rinse, and then hand dry. They're well worth the little extra care.

I bought one of these for my first college apartment, and still have it today, 20 years later. The wooden handle has suffered a little water damage (mostly from my neglect) but the handle's brass rivets still hold securely.

For the price, it is an awesome knife.

Not nearly as pretty as the stainless-steel knives which are so common these days -the blade of mine is stained and tarnished -but it can be sharpened -and holds the edge -better than any other knife I own.

Not a knife for everyone....if you want stainless steel, put it in the dishwasher and forget about it....it's not for you.

I hand wash and dry this knife and sharpen it each time with a $3 Walmart sharpener, and it takes an edge that is much sharper

than a stainless steel blade. If you like cooking, and want/need a razor sharp blade for dicing, slicing, etc., than this is

the knife for you. I have several and truly love them. It's hard to find non stainless knives these days, but their attributes

make it worth the search these are excellent knives for food preparation....you just have to take proper care of them.

I sharpen my own knives and so I was glad to find these. It is very hard to find high carbon non-stainless steel knives. You can't beat high carbon non-stainless steel for taking and holding an edge.

The factory edge on this knife was atrocious. I had to actually grind it off completely on a Chef's Choice electric sharpener "Stage 1" slots (grinding wheel), and start from scratch. But it sharpened up real nice after that, mainly on coarse and then fine diamond whetstones and then on a very fine ceramic whetstone. All in all, about a half hour spent to bring it up to a good edge.

The handle is comfortable and the knife is well balanced.

You have to wash and dry knives like these by hand and even so they will tarnish.

They are a bargain at $9.99, and as far as the sharpening goes, you will have to sharpen any knife after a few months use anyway.

I've used OH knives for most of my life (I'm 50+ years old), and the quality of these knives is still right up there. I bought this knife to replace a Pacific Rim-made boning knife, which won't hold an edge anymore. The OH knife took an extremely sharp edge (I hone my knives), and the edge holds up well.Re-sharpen as needed, hand-wash and dry after using, and this knife should last for decades.
