Global G-61 Hollow Ground 8" Chefs Knife
This is a great knife for a cook who cares a lot about quality and blade design. It has the Japanese angle (which I believe is a 15 degree compared to German much more abrupt), so it is very very sharp. It's ready to use straight out of the box, but you might want to give it a rinse to get any packaging gunk off of it. It uses great steel, and I grew up using a lot of different hunting knives, so I care a lot about the quality and grade of steel that is used. This is a very light and well balanced knife as well. I highly recommend this knife if you want to break away from the heavier German knives. As a Food Service professional I always need sharp knives in the kitchen with me. Whether it's cutting tomatoes or dicing raw sweet potatoes. It the best knife I've ever owned. My German knives can't top this and I've been using German steel for years.Buy Global G-61 Hollow Ground 8" Chefs Knife Now

Wusthof Silverpoint II 8-Inch Cook's Knife
Great knife! Cuts like butter. I work in a professional kitchen and i purchased this knife for use at work. I love it. It has great balance fits my hand well. It doesn't fatigue my hand. Blade is sharp and perfect thickness. Great product for a great price.Wusthof knives are excellent but normally are pretty spendy. This is a great knife without the high price. Only drawback is it doesn't have the fancy wooden handle.Buy Wusthof Silverpoint II 8-Inch Cook's Knife Now

The knife works great, but it needs a case or holder. Very sharp and if you want it to be kept nice for a long time, that's what I would recommend.I bought this to try out a Wusthof before buying one of their higher quality knives. The first thing I noticed upon handling it was the weight: even for a small woman like myself it was very light. The handle seems like a very cheap plastic; even on less costly knives I've never felt a handle like that. I didn't notice any faults with the blade, but it was so unbalanced for me that I returned it.Wusthof Gourmet Wave 7-Inch Multi-Purpose Utility Knife
Oh my goodness! I LOVE this knife and use if for almost EVERYTHING! Where has it been all my life? I bought one for a friend also who has a catering business and she adores it. She feels the same way I do...where has it been all her life? May order different Wusthof knives in different sizes soon, too. Way to go Wusthof!FAB knife! I originally bought it for cutting homemade bread (which it does soooo much better than reg. serated knives), and I find we use if for everything. Even strong enough to easily chop right through a hard peach pit like it was, well, something really soft I can't think of :).Buy Wusthof Gourmet Wave 7-Inch Multi-Purpose Utility Knife Now
My husband loves great knives so I got this for him for Christmas last year. He loves it as it slices foods like tomatoes that are easily squished with dull knives very thinly and easily. The downside is that you can't sharpen the knife because of its wavy edge. When cutting thick items like squash or watermelon it's difficult to get a straight cut. But it's a great knife!Read Best Reviews of Wusthof Gourmet Wave 7-Inch Multi-Purpose Utility Knife Here
I ordered this at Christmas. We've only used it 6 or 7 times but each timewas for a different type of meat and chopping vegetables (roast, whole chicken, steak, corned beef ....).
It works great. I would like to buy the little bit longer one also.

This knife is 16 cm. or 6 & 5/16" and should not be called a 7" knife! That said, it is a really nice little knife and very very sharp. I have several of the Wusthof reverse wavy edge knives and they never really get dull. However, they do wear down and need a occasional touch-up with a steel or sharpener. It is a really good size and shape for an all around utility knife; perfect for making sandwiches, it slices bread, cheese, tomatoes and meat all equally well. I did not think it would be any good for chopping but if you use a forward rocking motion it does a great job. I really like this knife and gave it 3 stars instead of 4 because I was disappointed by its smaller than expected size and light weight. After using the knife for a week, I gave it to my girlfriend. It's just too short and I don't like the rounded tip, which reminds me of a child's safety scissors. If they made this in a 20 cm. size with a normal sloping and pointed Santoku style tip it would deserve a 5 star rating; as it is, 3 stars are plenty. However my girlfriend really likes it.
Tuftop Sussex Pair Cutting Board
Silvermark Folding Cutting Board
I like this product, but I find that it is a bit of a pain to have it lay flat as you cut. It tends to want to fold up a little and is wobbly. I don't know if it will lay flatter when it is more "broken in" (I have only had it a month). I store it open rather than folded in hopes that it will be flatter! It is still very nice to funnel everything into the pan, so I do still use it.I am in the process of listing this with Consumer Safety Commission. I purchased three and all the magnets pulled out. Can get mixed in the food. Company had me return them and reimbursed my shipping. I hope its not on the market anymore. Life threatening if one swallows magnets.Don't know how I did without this cutting board now! I use it everyday, & it's the perfect size for my needs.Chef's Choice 250 Diamond Hone Hybrid Knife Sharpener, White
After being really disappointed in the local knife sharpening availability and asking all my friends who they use (turns out most of them are not as concerned about sharp knives as I am) I turned to electric sharpeners after a friend mentioned he uses one in his business for blade cutters. I started researching, wanted to purchase the model 220 but with little availability, I decided on the 250. I am very happy with this unit. First off, I watched a number of You Tube videos about using electric sharpeners, very helpful. I carefully read the instruction manual, also, very helpful. There is a slight learning curve, but after sharpening 4 chefs knives, I was able to cut paper easily but most incredible was the ability to slice tomatoes to a very thin less than 1/4 inch cut. There are a couple of limitations to the unit. Can't use it on ceramic (I don't own any) and you won't get as great a result with Japanese style knives, but there are other models that will do the trick. My Victornox and Henkels are wonderfully sharp. Again, watch the videos, take your time, read the instuctions. A great product, assembled in the U.S.I don't sharpen good kitchen knives as a career, so the big expensive sharpeners were not for me. My interest was a good sharpener that did not ruin my very good German, French & Japanese blades. The really cheap sharpeners would grind my knives down quickly yes, exactly what the local guy with the old grindstone did when given a cheap test knife. This CC 250 sharpener fit my requirements fair price, good sharpener. And if it hadn't or wears out too quickly, then my investment in this sharpener was not high enough to cry over. As always, Amazon shipped & delivered quickly. The sharpener has proved itself with all my blades & it's a keeper. The only downside is that the CC people will replace it with a new model with is not as good as this but will come in different colors & will be advertised as improved because colored sharpeners work better.Buy Chef's Choice 250 Diamond Hone Hybrid Knife Sharpener, White Now
Good product, does what it says it will do and does it well.I must admit that I, personally, am very stingy with 5-star ratings.
A 4-star is usually about as high as I will go unless the product is exceptionally great.
If I could have I would have given this item a 4 1/2 but, obviously, that is not possible.

This is one of those items that you buy, try it out once and then try fo find something better. I actually have a non-electric hand held version of this and they both sharpen part of the blade. This electric one didn't have enough power to keep the stones turning when the knife approached the tip of the blade. I used this on a variety of blade types and found that on the larger blades, it didn't sharpen about an inch of the blade nearest the handle. It might be a "Chef's Choice" but it's not mine. The Ultimate Edge Model 2001-12BN 12 Piece Knife Roll
This holder for 12 knives does exactly what I want it to do. Safely transport very sharp knives back and forth to my church culinary chores without taking a chunk out of an unsuspecting colleague. I give it only four stars because it doesn't seem quite as good as some similar products I've seen on various Food Network documentaries, which seem to easily carry things which are a lot less flat than the average knife. But, if the price is right and carrying knives is what you want, get this product, it is especially good at being stiff, avoiding the risk of pushing a sharp tip out at you at an awkward moment.I am overall pretty happy with this case. It is so large though, that when you need to open it, it requires a large open area, and kitchens can often be short on that kind of space. I'm not currently doing any meat carving but this would hold a substantially large knife, perhaps up to a 14".
I do have issues: First, the velcro that folds over the handle was not sewn properly and will be a problem for me soon. It will be too thick for me to sew, so I will have to glue it on. The handle closure is necessary to keep the wrap from unfolding while you carry it. The only other issue I have is that the shoulder strap attachment points are awkwardly offset, so that it makes it odd to carry. One strap attaches at the handle side and the opposing end on the bottom of the roll.
The knife area is beneath a zippered cover, and the zipper is fine. There is a net zippered pouch on the outside of the zippered cover for smaller utensils. There a pocket for business cards and two holders for pens etc, but they are not protected much from being able to slip out of the end of the wrap. The case holds the knives very securely though. I don't think this would be a good case for someone who would use it to carry other gear such as metal spatulas or whisks, it would be too cumbersome. I carry an 8" and 12" french chef, an 8" santoku, a large Chinese chef, a 12" bread slicer, a 6" boning knife, a 12" scimitar, a paring knife and a half dozen or so other small tools, and it fills it up nicely without cramping for space.

This Knife Case is nice. I use it everyday. It is a little hard to close once you fill it up, I have to hand carry it, I cant use the strap because the velcrow (not sure I spelled that right :) ) is not too secure. I'm a Sous-chef at one restaurant and a line chef at another so getting my knives back and forth is a big reason why I needed a knife roll. I loved that this product was cheap, had plenty of space in it. the only thing I don't like about it is the design for the strap. when I carry it one side of the strap always tries to fall off. that being said it's an easy fix. just find a large knife or honing rod the length of the knife roll on either ends of the roll to keep the strap in line.Want The Ultimate Edge Model 2001-12BN 12 Piece Knife Roll Discount?

Oneida 13 Piece Dual Rivet Cutlery Set With Block
I was unsatisfied with the quality of this cutlery set. There were several stains on the blades already when I received them and the blades were rather dull, especially the steak knives, which were more along the lines of glorified butter knives. Overall, shoddy manufacturing that shows, and I'm returning them. Not worth your time or money.8" Block with Deep Dish Chopping Bowl and Alaskan Birch Handled Ulu
This is my favorite kitchen tool. Makes fast work of chopping nuts, veggies, herbs, frozen foods. Also onions & garlic if you wash the board carefully after. The blade fits the bowl's curve perfectly so you can scrape out the contents in one sweep. Stays sharp a very long time. Like the fact that it doesn't have brand words printed or burned on it.If you would enjoy a simple approach to quickly chopping lettuce and vegetables, while avoiding pulling out a lot of electrical devices, then the Ulu should be in your kitchen. This knife is made with Alaskan tradition of quality and durability. The knife has a past history for skinning purposes, but it has the same design as some copy-cat mezzaluna knives that are now available for salad and vegetable preparation.Personally, having lived in Alaska, I trust Alaskan quality and design, thus, I appreciate the Alaskan heritage of the knife. The Ulu knife can be ordered with a quality concave cutting board that will help keep the chopped items from running away from you. Just a caution, the blade is wide and sharp, so this knife should be used with all due respect, so watch your fingers! This is not a knife for children or inexperienced cooks. Our knife came with a cutting board and a small block of wood, cut with a groove to hold the blade and knife in an upright position for counter storage, but the knife should be kept away from irresponsible usage or access.
We enjoyed our first knife so much, we ordered a second.

Little did I know how much I would use and LOVE this chopper!! I make "chopped salad" almost everyday I tried a friends "double blade" salad chopper only to get very annoyed about everything getting stuck between the blades and a bit afraid of cutting myself trying to get it out! Looking again on Amazon I ran into the"Ulu"!!! I asked a few questions and got such a "TREMENDOUS" response from people that owned one I ordered mine I would be lost without it now!! The bowl is Wonderful I thought it would be too shallow and everything would fly out while chopping....it really doesn't!! Now & Then something pops out but it popped off the cutting board also. The way the blade fits into the bowl also makes everything easy yes I have to chop each item individually just as I did when I used a cutting board but its soooo much quicker and chopped sooo much better.YOU WILL NEVER REGRET THIS PURCHASE!!! It owns a very special place in my kitchen. I am not a gadget person..if I don't use it I get rid of it! Hummm I wonder if my cutting board will be the next to go!! I'm thinking of getting one for each of my kids for Christmas!! Again thanks to all the reviewers!! This is why I take time to review my purchases the reviews really do help people out!

The pattern is the same and these knives are great, but... they are different than what we have owned for 28 years. After counting only five from the originals, we needed to fill out the set. This newer version is longer, has a thinner handle, and has a much more serrated edge than the originals. We had purchased forks from another seller and found those also were longer. Obviously a later cast. Considering the age of our set, we are not complaining; it's just good to have a larger, more-matching set. This is not the same as the original. It is a cheaper manufacturer and materials. The serrations are bigger and sharper, so the knife is less elegant.6 Straight Edge Boning Knife --- 1 Each.

There are some chef's that use expensive brands and styles, but this is a real workhorse.
Why?
They stay relatively sharp, compared to how much they are used. I use it to break down lamb legs, about 5 per day.
They are economical.
Comfortable [this is the most overlooked quality].
You do not need expensive Japanese or German knives to do the job. They have there place, don't get me wrong.
This knife [under 30 bucks] will do the job no problem. are
Victorinox knives are very proven, don't be fooled by the cheap looks, they are only made to do one job, work.
Wusthof Silverpoint II 4-Piece Steak Knife Set
I did a lot of research on the popular, better knife brands before buying. I was torn between the two most well known: Wusthof and Henkels. I saw a lot of reviews regarding Henkels about them not lasting long or living up to expectations. According to Wusthof's website, all their knives have the same blades in them, in all their knife lines. Perhaps I misunderstood their descriptions, but this is the meaning I took away from their own website. That being said, the only difference between their cheaper and most expensive (Classic) lines is the handle. I purchased a set of the Classic line for cutting and chopping. They are definitely superior to these steak knives. However, since I am using the steak knives only for dining and not every day, these are more than adequate. The blades are very sharp and cut easily through all meats. The only thing I can really say isn't perfect, are the handles. They could be better quality. I personally felt, for the amount of use I get from the knives, the handle quality vs. price is worth it. You can spend $100 on a set of Classic line steak knives that you use twice a week, but I think most people would be highly satisfied with this set.
As others have mentioned, nicer blades like these should be treated a little bit differently. Do not put these into dishwashers. They will bang around and become dull, quickly. The heat will also damage the handles. Hand wash and towel dry immediately after use. The steel will rust quickly, otherwise. These are great knives, and they need exceptional care to last.I have slowly been filling a knife block with Grand Prix II knives for my girlfriend, and it came time to get steak knives. We wanted a good quality knife, but when my girlfriend saw the price of the Grand Prix II steak knives, she said they were just too pricey. I came across these silverpoint knives and decided for the price, I'd give them a shot. If they're not that great, I didn't have a lot of money invested in them, so I ordered them.
We're not disappointed. They are extremely sharp and cut through steak like butter. The handles match the Grand Prix II handles, so they keep the look in the knife block. The only difference I've noticed so far is that they stain if you don't wash them right away, which hasn't been an issue with the Grand Prix II knives she has. I would recommend these knives for anyone who doesn't want to cough up the dough for the Grand Prix steak knives. Just make sure you wash them immediately after dinner.

I have wusthof knives that are more expensive. They have the more expensive handles. I purchased the Wusthof Silverpoint II knife set and steak knives for my daughter and one for my son. They work great. They both appreciate having a nice steak knife set. The old ones were dull and worthless. Great knives! Stay sharp a long time. Get the steak sharpner and they will be just like new after using this sharpner. Be careful not to cut yourself, using new sharp knives are a hazard after having dull knives. They cut right through food, veggies and you want to be careful to keep your fingers out of the way!Want Wusthof Silverpoint II 4-Piece Steak Knife Set Discount?
Like other reviewers, I am the happy owner of a set of Grand Prix II knives, and I absolutely love them. However, when the time came to add the steak knives, one look at the price of the GP II version made me nervous simply too expensive for someone who does not eat steak that often. So I ordered a set of these. I have to say I hated them at first. They are lightweight, and one can feel the quality as being different to the Grand Prix II. Ultimately, you get what you paid for. But, despite the weight, the blade is Wusthof quality; it cuts through steak without a problem (as much as I would like to claim that it is my excellent cooking of the steaks). Plus, the weight of the knife is a really minor issue when enjoying a steak, at least for me. So I bought a second set a couple of months later. If I had an infinite budget, I would have gone for the GP II, but as it is, these are good enough.Chef'sChoice AngleSelect Knife Sharpener
I have been sharpening knives for more than 60 years. I require my knives to be sharp enough to shave my arm. This sharpener has done that with every knife I own.I own a Gerber Chef's knife. It is no longer made. The Gerber food knives had the hardest steel and were a devil to sharpen. Because it was so hard, I could not get this knife sharp so it just sat in the knife safe. In less than five minutes, this sharpener made my old Gerber sharp enough to shave my arm. It is now my only Chef's knife.
The final sharpening stones work like a fine sharpening steel. It makes the edge straight and perfect. A few passes on this final stage keeps the knives sharp. After getting the knife sharp the first time, you should use this stage many times before you need to use the more aggresive first stage.
You must be careful. Knives sharpened with this sharpener will cut you -I did it twice, and I know how to use a knife. My wife did it once. You must get used to sharp knives.
The advanced mode of using either 15 or 20 degree sharpening is great for me since I have one of those oriental knives that want 15 degrees.
It is quiet and fast. If you want it sharp. This is the one;
WilI am somewhat of a craftsman and have been addressing knife sharpening with stones (manually) for many years. This was an arduous task as honing is an art that requires time, patience, and most importantly, precision to maintain a 20 degree angle. To be frank, I elected to give up knife sharpening by hand. I did my homework and read many product reviews before purchasing the Chef's Choice model 1520. It was expensive but, no more so than buying multiple stones of varying grit plus my time.
Upon sharpener arrival, I immediately went to work on our knife sets. Was I impressed with this tool yes!! It was fast. The sharpener took only 20 minutes to do my entire drawer. It was precise as it held both the 20 degree (German knives) and 15 degree (Soduku knives) angles by virtue of the tool's design. The finishing hone provided the edge which the diamond faced stone had prepared. I warned my wife that the paring knife was sharper than new but, she cut herself anyway.
I also had a Gerber 7" knife which was 10+ years old. Gerber is out of business now but, they were renowned for manufacturing knives which had the ability to retain an edge. That is, their knives were made from very, very hard steel. However, all knife edges succumb to time/use and my knife died years ago. I could not sharpen the Gerber knife with my stones so it mostly sat in the drawer. The Chef's Choice made short work of the Gerber's dull edge by returning it back to the sharpeness I remembered and wanted.
I then did my neighbors knives and, on the following weekend, my daughter's household knives. Very fast, very sharp. I justified the sharpener as an heirloom for the daughter. In the meantime, I will keep the neighborhhod sharp.

I have Henckel knives in both the American/European and Japanese knife angle and after reading Cook's Illustrated review of knife sharpeners, I decided on this recommended model. The instructions were easy to understand, my knives are sharper than the results of my previous handheld sharper and my neighbors all agree: if you like to cook, this is a essential product to own. It even sharpened a rustic cleaver that the Mr. brought back from Thailand over 20 years ago that collected dust in my drawer because it was so dull. At the same time of this purchase, I bought the scissor sharper Chef's Choice ScissorPro Diamond Hone and I couldn't be more pleased with the two purchases. If you made an investment in quality kitchen tools, this product will maintain their quality, with little effort.I have always sharpened my knives manually on a stone and never believed that an electric sharpener could get my knives as sharp as I required them to be. Boy was I wrong. After reading reviews about electric sharpeners I decided on the Chefs Choice 1520. The vender that I purchased it from was very prompt in shipping this to me and it arrived in excellent condition. This sharpener exceded my expectations. It is very quiet, and with just a few passes, the edge on all of my cutlery, even the longest filet blades, was razor sharp. Something I didn't believe to be possible. The motor is very strong and doesn't slow down even on my heaviest blades, while sharpening. So far I've only needed to sharpen my knives once as they are holding their edge, after daily use for about three months now. I would definately recommend this sharpener to friends.10 PC PROFESSIONAL CUTLERY SET

Mikasa Sophia 65-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 12
The size seems to be about 1.5 times larger than a normal set. The size of the teaspoon with this set it almost the size of my regular serving spoon! If you have children, this would not be a good set for you. I really liked the design, but I had to send it back for being so ridiculously large. Was looking for an elegant flatware set, stainless steel 18/10, service for 12-18, reasonably priced. Did a lot of looking online and in stores, and found most sets were at least $200 so this one was reasonably priced. It is however, somewhat more rugged looking as opposed to elegant looking. And the teeth of the dinner forks are so long I'm afraid I might hurt my throat with them. The salad forks are about the size of standard dinner forks so we've been using the salad forks as our dinner forks.Buy Mikasa Sophia 65-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 12 Now
I am furnishing a second home and have been on the market for things I haven't purchased in a very long time. I was shocked to see how few high quality 18/10 Stainless Steel flatware sets were available, and those I could find were at very high prices. A previous poster complained about the large size of the flatware. I believe this is "continental size" flatware. I tried to post a link that explains the various sizes of flatware available and the differences in size, but apparently Amazon deletes external links. This set works for me. I have Le Creuset stoneware. My dishes are large (dinner plate 12") and small flatware would look strange.
