It may be intended for "little cooks" but Mom loves it too. Great for frosting both cakes & cupcakes, nice size, cleans up really easy, doesn't scratch my nonstick bakeware. Seems pretty durable too. It's ok. I was looking for something that would make icing easier. This is good. The blade is thick, the handle thicker and comfortable, but almost immediately I went back to using a regular knife.Curious Chef Nylon Frosting Spreader

I own a few of these knives because (1) they are economical, and (2) they are sturdy and functional. For personal use or small gatherings I use a Boska Holland Explore Cheese Set. However for tastings and for multi-purpose use I use these.Aside from the excellent price, these are sturdy, reasonably sharp (helped by the serrations on the blade), and are easy to clean. I especially love the handle, which is bamboo, and strong and less porous than other woods.
Regarding the multi-purpose use I mentioned: this knife works beautifully with dry sausages like salami as well as cheese. When I have larger gatherings I will put out a spread of antipasti and aside from Olive Strainer Spoons for olives and Appetizer Tongs these knives are the only serving utensils needed.
Please see my customer-supplied photo at the top of this page for the relative size of this knife. The cheese shown in the photo is a little over a half pound, so that should give you an idea of scale.
If you host parties or have large family meals these are handy to have around. The quality is better than I expected and the functionality is perfect for the uses I described.
Proctor Silex Traditions 74388 Electric Knife, White
This knife was purchased to replace an eons old Sunbeam Electric Knife. This Proctor Silex is heavy and too large in diameter not for arthritic hands and the first use to slice an Artisan Loaf of bread was such a trial that I gave it up and used my regular bread knife. This was not purchased from Amazon but rather from a local retailer and now I'm shopping Amazon to find a good electric knife which is what I should have done in the first place. Hope the Amazon reviewers of electric knives are telling their true opinions of the electric knives recently purchased. This is a good knife. It doesn't seem to be quite as sharp as the old knife but has a good feel and is easy to use. The cord is permanently attached which eliminates the problem with our old knife of the cord disconnecting in the middle of a cut.Buy Proctor Silex Traditions 74388 Electric Knife, White Now
I bought this knife for Thanksgiving to replace my old one and it worked great! It sliced my turkey just fine...
I thought it would just get put away and that would be it.
But I've been using it at least once a week for roasts/london broils etc.

I've used a Black & Decker slimline knife for 15 years. It still works better than the new Traditions electric knife by Proctor Silex. The new Trimline is heavier, and so large that I can't get my fingers all around it.Also, it cuts with a ragged look. My turkey breast had ridges. I'll keep my old Slimline.

Chicago Cutlery Landmark 12-Piece Knife Set with Block
Like another reviewer, I was swayed by the recommendations of CR. Unlike several of the other reviewers, I have not yet experienced the problems encountered by them. So far, no rust spots, but I hand wash & dry immediately after use. When the set arrived the block, while not exceptional, was undamaged, and again, so far, the guides have not come loose. Perhaps customer complaints have led to a resolution to this problem?Having never had a "real" set of knives to compare these to makes a ranking difficult. However, I am satisfied for the return on the money I spent. On a further, note, my daughter, who is in culinary school, stated that these knives are a little on the lightweight side, but the balance (feel) appears good, and that they cut very well.
UPDATE: I've had this set a year now. So far no problems and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I've had no rust: I DON'T put 'em in the dishwasher; I hand wash & dry immediately. I still hold to my initial assessment: This set is a good, not great, value for the money.I like the knives. The sharpener works well. These are hand-wash-only knives. Take good care of them and they will take good care of you.
For $100+ I was surpised that they were Chinese made. The block is ok not up to German, American or Japanese/Korean standards (slight imperfections). The knives are well designed and with proper care sharp and very good to work with.
I would have preferred American Made (Chicago cutlery used to be 100% American Made) but that would probably have been 3-5x the price.
Overall I am happy with the knives and will tolerate the imperfect block with it.

They were great, until I washed them. Now they have little brown spots all over them. It looks like rust to me. Since you kind of need to wash your knives now and again, I would say to avoid these. After revewing knife sets and checking CR recommendations I decided to purchase this set. CR said that Chicago cutlery was the way to go if you do not want to spend a small fortune on knifes that were still of decent quality. This is the first time I buy something that did not have a review and the first time I write a review because I was so upset with the quality. The knife are not sharp, and they rust and the block is cumbersome and the inserts that hold the knifes come out it was actually missing one when it arrived.
I hastened to open it and set it up before I noticed, otherwise, if I still had the box, I would have returned it.

This knife set for a new product, is very diappointing. I'm returning mine. Out of the box it looked cheap. I agree with other reviewer that the little plastic inserts on the block don't stay in. You have to peal if off the knife everytime you pull a knife out, to put it back on the block-CC needs to try some glue to hold them in. CC makes much nicer sets for less money-this would be a hassle to use to use and why pay more a poorer set?Kyocera Revolution Series 4-1/4-Inch Utility Knife
This is the sharpest knife I have ever used. And I use good German and Japanese steel knives. It is so sharp it is dangerous if you are not careful. If you play with it like an inept clown and drop it and chip the blade, you might give it one star. But if you know your way around the kitchen, it is five star for sure.I use it for fruits and vegetables only. It is light and very sharp, doesn't stain, easy to wash. It was amazing to discover that I could slice a large juicy tomato while holding it in my hand, with no juice lost! I keep it in a drawer in the original plastic container: it sits there firmly and is easy to pull out. I strongly recommend it for those who can limit it's use to gentlier jobs. Very happy with the purchase!Buy Kyocera Revolution Series 4-1/4-Inch Utility Knife Now
I bought this knife directly from Kyocera, though it's a little cheaper here on Amazon, and have been more than impressed with it. This knife is perfect for your smaller cutting jobs. It is razor sharp, and super easy to use. I have been using it just about every day for the past 3 months and have had no problems what so ever. It is still just as sharp as the doy I took it out of the box. If you keep it away from bones, and frozen foods, and only cut on a wood cutting board, I am confident this knife will last you the rest of your life.Read Best Reviews of Kyocera Revolution Series 4-1/4-Inch Utility Knife Here

This knife can take a nice edge and holds it relatively well -tho not as well as many other Japanese knives, but it is not carbon steel as advertised. It appears to be stainless steel. And more importantly, the back is not hollow ground. For only $50 bucks I didn't expect much, but this is more like a $20 noname knife.R+B EveryDay Daria 45 Piece 18/0 Stainless Steel Set, Service for 8
This is the perfect silverware set. I looked at several different sets and this one won out. It has slender but balanced handles so 2 sets fit nicely in my silverware drawer. This is the first one star review I've written. I was so excited to buy new flatware. Reed and Barton is a well known brand. We still have the hammered antique 18/8 from 20 years ago when we got married and I still love it so I thought I could trust the brand. I wanted an every day set and thought this was nice and the price was great. I didn't expect the quality of the more expensive end of the line and I don't have a problem with the lighter weight. Opening the box I thought that the tines of the forks looked pretty delicate but that didn't bother me so much. I washed them all at once before using them and as I gathered a small bunch to rinse, I got a fairly deep slash on my finger! It was not from the knife so it could only be from a fork. Examining the forks more closely (and I did not check each fork but checked a bunch) I ran my fingers along the tines at different angles and found they have a sharp edge that can catch skin. What? A fork that you put in your mouth that has parts that cut? That is unacceptable by any standards. I was so looking forward to having this set but this flaw is too disappointing. Of course I can not recommend this line. In fact, unfortunately, the opposite. I recommend that you look for something else.Edit: I want to note that I wrote Reed and Barton and their response was very fast and helpful. I'll edit this review when safe forks replace the cutting forks.
Edit 2: The company could not replace the forks and I was asked to pick a new pattern. I chose to upgrade to a heavier pattern and we love it. Kudos to Reed and Barton for standing behind their product. I still give this set a low rating but R & B gets five stars.

We have been using it for a few months now & have had no problems washing it in the dishwasher. The design is very attractive, & the pieces have a solid feel -not super heavy, but not flimsy like some inexpensive flatware. The size of the salad forks seems tinier than usual, but overall a great value for the price.I am a person who reads reviews before I buy anything and I wont write a 5 star review unless I truly believe in the product. I bought this set about seven months ago and its great!!! I use them every day I have two sons ages six and four and this set is just what I was looking for they are very durable they have seen there fair share of abuse and they still look great just like the day I pulled them out of the box! They are heavy the will not bend with normal use and they truly are dishwasher friendly! Like I said I use these everyday and put them in the dishwasher everyday they will not rust! So if you are looking for a great set that will last you a life time look no more you have found them! Chef's Choice 415 Exact-V Diamond Hone Manual Knife Sharpener
This sharpener is overly complicated for the results. It's bigger and harder to use than one of those little $6 carbide/ceramic two stage V-sharpeners, and the results are no better. This sharpener does work pretty much as advertized, but you can get as good or better results with a little pocket V-sharpener, for about $35 less. One advatage of this sharpener over a simple V sharpener is that it does put a double bevel. This is a technique of sharpening where the main blade bevel is, in this case 20 degrees, and the honed edge is at a slightly wider angle, 24 degrees in this case. Ideally this gives a more durable edge and allows you to re-sharpen with just a quick hone. Even with this fact, and the compulsion I'll have to use it just because I spent $40 on it, I don't see myself using this over my pocket V-sharpener.I have since purchased a couple of other knife sharpeners. This one was "OK", but kept falling apart on me. I ended up purchasing a "Chefs Choice" Electric Knife Sharpener and gave this away to my oldest son. It works if you can get it to stay together.

Mac Knife Superior Paring/Utility Knife, 5-Inch
I purchases a set of Mac knives about 1975 and we used them so much we wore them out. Ever since, I have been searching for them to replace them without luck until I found them on Amazon. This paring knife is the best I have ever used. We love it.This is my favorite knife of all. In fact, we bought two of the 5" ones (because each of us always wants to use one, usually at the same time) and one 10" one, and I've given them as gifts too. I love the rounded tip and the overall balance. It does need to be sharpened quite frequently but when sharp is superb for dicing, peeling, and slicing almost anything. Wusthof Gourmet 4-Piece Steak Knife Set
I essentially agree with what other reviewers have written (except that Mn is molybdenumMn is manganese, Mo is molybdenum). Are they of the superior craftsmanship of the Wusthof Classic line? No, they are not. But at a fraction of the price of Classic, you already knew they wouldn't be. The plastic handle and thinner steel do feel a bit on the cheap size when holding the knife, but they look great alongside the rest of our Wusthof cutlery (which is why my fiance and I bought them). And don't worry about performance; all meats that I've cut succumb nicely to the straight edge blades. What I can't comment on is the blades' longevity. We've only had them a short while, and I don't know how they'll hold their edge.My final word on them is that those who can afford the Classic line (and I truly wish I was one of them) should purchase the Classic. But for those who can't, don't be shy about purchasing Gourmet. You'll get what you pay for, and since you're paying for Wusthof, how disappointed can you be?Just received these knives and they seem to be a fine set of steak knives. However, I noticed that these gourmet series (with the exception of the 8" chef's knife), use different steel than their more expensive classic series. Specifically, the classic series uses "X50CrMn15" material, whereas these gourmet series uses "X46Cr13". The major difference being that X46Cr13 contains less carbon (0.5% vs. 0.46%) and that it does not contain Mn (molybdenum), which is needed for knives to be totally dishwasher safe. ...

Wusthof is a producer of quality knives, but double check your order, especially if you ordered more than one knife at a time. I have read many consumer reviews on the block set where consumers found that only a couple knives from the set were quality while the rest were not. I received a block set (8130) of Wusthof knives for Christmas. After close investigation, I noticed that most of the knives were not what I ordered. While I ordered the Gourmet line, most of the knives received were of much lesser quality. Only three knives were the actual gourmet line of knives as they are stamped with serial numbers. If your knives are stamped with a number beginning with "8", then chances are you received the incorrect knives in the set. Wusthof quality knives begin with the number four (including Grand Prix, Culinare, Gourmet, etc). I have contacted both the Food Network and Wusthof to make them aware of this issue. It appears there has been a problem in the shipping area of one of the two. The Food Network has been great when speaking with them. I want to make sure everyone has actually received what they have paid for. As far as the three Gourmet knives I received, they are very good quality. I sent the entire block back (paid for by the Food Network) and am looking forward to "playing" with my new set of Gourmet knives.Read Best Reviews of Wusthof Gourmet 4-Piece Steak Knife Set Here
I searched through Amazon looking at the different steak knives and their reviews. I decided on these because of the following: 1. They appeared to be of a medium vice entry quality; 2. They are non-serrated thereby allowing me to sharpen at home using my honing steel and/or knife sharpener; and 3. They go well with my mid-quality J. A. Henckels International Classic kitchen knives. I am not a knife expert, but an average person would be hard pressed to not like or find any material fault with these steak knives. I noticed one reviewer mention that they were a bit thinner than other Wusthof knives. However, I found them to be reasonably thick (they are not tinny) and quite satisfactory. They are steak knives, not kitchen knives. I feel this is a good quality product and am well satisfied with my purchase of them. I hope this review helps fellow Amazon customers because I know many of the reviews for steak knives are quite diverse.Want Wusthof Gourmet 4-Piece Steak Knife Set Discount?
These are by no means cheap knives. They are inexpensive relative to the quality they deliver. The knives I really wanted were also from Wusthof. Unfortunately, they were $180.00. So the decision was between a.) the best knives which will last a lifetime or b.) the best knives which will last 25 years for less than a third of the price. The gourmet series knives cut through steak like "buttah". They feel good and well balanced in the hand. The fact that it's not a full tang has no effect on the usefulness or performance so I am happy with these knives and recommend them to you if you want the best and if money IS an object.

This is the best knife and best kitchen tool I have ever had. I have three myself and have showered these knives on all my friends. These knives are fantastic! They are light, sharp and useful for a multitude of kitchen and generic uses. The handle is rather slim for extended use, but that's the only criticism I can think of. I must say I was a bit skeptical about purchasing these Kitchen Shears...After all, they're definitely one of the cheaper if not cheapest pairs in terms of price that I've seen on Amazon. However, never fear! The scissors work like a charm. I've used them with chicken and other meats with no complaints. Recipe calls for chopped parsley? I get out the scissors and "snip, snip!" The scissors come apart at the hinge so you can stick them in the dishwasher separately and ensure they are fully clean and bacteria-free.The other features (screwdriver, bottle opener, etc.) are not necessary but can come in handy. The jar opener is not that great if you need to open a large jar, but I didn't buy these scissors to open jars so I still say, five stars! You Just Gotta Have A Pair OF These!!!
This is my second pair of these scissors. The first pair was never returned after lending them to friends. They were missed very much in our household. They are very sharp and are very versatile around the home. Also work great in the garden for trimming Hosta and roses.
The price is great too. Seen in outlet stores for $10.00.

The Mundial 5614-8 has been a favorite fillet knife for many years. The blade has some stiffness to it, giving this knife a much better "feel" than almost all other fillet knives, in my opinion. If you think most fillet knives bend much too easy, and prefer a blade with some " spine" to the blade, try this one. Fit and finish of the knife just a bit less than that of my old model 5614-8 knives made long ago, but still rather good. wish Mundial would make a sheath for this, with a sheath this would be a great " tackle box" fillet knife about as good as any and better than most knives sold to sport fisherman.
