Kuhn Rikon Strawberry Knife Colori

Kuhn Rikon Strawberry Knife ColoriIt's a really cool little gadget for gadget collectors. It folds up into the handle so it avoids injury and protects the sharpness. Ingenious.

This is a pretty handy combo, combining both the huller and a knife. It hulls very well, even cutting through the stem area with ease. However, the hinge does not lock in place, so if you are not careful the huller is trying to close. The opposite is true about the knife end. That hinge is so tight that when I'm closing or opening the knife I'm afraid I might cut myself. Overall, with some care it really is a handy tool!

The stemming tool is really useful. However, I found that when I used the knife I sliced my hand to bits. It's extremely sharp, dangerously so, and when I sent one of these to my mom I warned her to just close that side of the tool and never open it.

This is the handiest tool for hulling strawberries and the built in knife is a bonus. I lost my first one and I'm buying it again because I can't go back to the old way of hulling strawberries. This tool makes it so fast. Love it!

Want Kuhn Rikon Strawberry Knife Colori Discount?

Yes, we're a house divided.

From my perspective, I like the huller at one end and the knife at the other. My husband's take on this is that it is just another knife and you can hull just as well with the knives we already own.

Bottom line, it's a really cute little knife. We don't have any more room in the knife block, so it's just as well that this folds up and stores nicely in the drawer.

Chicago Cutlery Landmark 14pc Block Set

Chicago Cutlery Landmark 14pc Block SetThese knives look great and work great in person. The cutting block is not as dark as in the picture. The knives look great in stainless steel and have a black rubber material on the handle which provide great grip and the knives are super sharp. The first set I received had some minor blemishes but the customer service team was very helpful and helped me to get a replacement set. I think these knives could be even better with higher standards of quality control from Chicago cutlery but, overall, it's a great set of knives for the price.

Top Chef by Master Cutlery 5-Piece Chef Basic Knife Set with Nylon Carrying Case

Top Chef by Master Cutlery 5-Piece Chef Basic Knife Set with Nylon Carrying CaseReceived these for a Christmas gift. I use Henckel Profi S at home, and was looking for a cheaper set to stash in my locker at the fire station. Using German Henckels, my standards are pretty high, and I have to say that these inexpensive knives were a pleasant surprise! They have good balance, and are most definitely ice-hardened stainless, same process as Henckels uses. Tradeoff with stainless is that you can't get quite as sharp of an edge, i.e. you probably couldn't shave with them, but they are well beyond adequate for most kitchen tasks. If you need razor sharp (sushi, filet knife, etc.), you will probably want something other than these for a couple of reasons. They come with a great edge right out of the box, but this stainless doesn't hold up quite as well as other stainless knives I've used. I have been surprised to see that the faces of the blades have scratched all over from handwashing with a green scrubby on one side of a sponge--I would never expect hard stainless to do that. I don't care about that cosmetically, but that just tells me that the steel is a bit softer, and I definitely have to hone and/or sharpen before preparation of each meal. I have definitely been spoiled by the abuse that Henckels will take before needing honing!

The downside in my opinion is the case. The knife pockets are created by sewing a piece of flat nylon stock to a flat backing, which leaves the threads fully exposed to the edges of the knives (there is no permanent insert in the sleeves). The knives come in thin plastic sleeves, and with a plastic cover on the tips, but these will probably be quickly lost or cut through. Replacing the plastic covers on the tips is not a good idea anyway, much like re-capping a needle. In any case, I have used the plastic sleeves every time, yet the stitching has come out of the case to the point where it no longer holds the knives (after two weeks' use). The knives also have a velcro tab around the handle, which I find to be a hassle--a well-designed case won't need this and it's one more thing to mess with when your hands are covered in food. If you use this case, I'd suggest getting some edge covers that are more substantial and designed to last.

I am returning my defective set, but will likely order another of this product in hopes the case defect on my case was an isolated incident. The quality of the knives is worth the hassles of the case. Alternately, I may buy a better case and keep just the knives--at $48, the knives are a steal even without the case!

For another excellent budget knife brand, look at Forstner by Victorinox. They are a stamped blade (not forged), but their 9-inch filet and 14-inch slicer (with granton edge) are the finest function I've used at any price.

Isabella, you need to do some research before smearing a product through ignorance.

These knives are X30Cr13 stainless steel, the same steel used in many high-quality chef knives, and it is decidedly NOT carbon steel.

If you honestly believe that stainless steel means it will never stain, you should likely drop out of culinary school and choose a vocation where you won't be exposed to such illogical concepts.

Stainless steel doesn't develop the patina that carbon steel does, and cannot be sharpened to the same razor edge. It stays brighter and is easier to clean, but can definitely stain or discolor with use.

These knives are an excellent bargain I'll be using them as a Christmas gift, myself. I may even get several sets, depending on who needs them. :)

After losing my beloved Shun Kaji knives in a divorce, I had to find a new set of knives for a bargain price more in line with my new budget. Being a Top Chef fan and foodie, I decided to take a chance and get this inexpensive set.

One thing I love about these knives is the nicely round shaped handles which are great for eliminating hand fatigue. I've recently been suffering with severe carpel tunnel and arthritis in my right hand which makes it hard to use most kitchen utensils for an extended amount of time without pain and hand fatigue. These knives I can use for hours without any pain.

These knives are also very sharp. I've cut, chopped, diced and minced carrots, potatoes, cheese, onions, etc., all with no problem. It was very important to me to have a knife that could cut a carrot with ease and these knives fit the bill. If you have any knife skills at all you should have no problem using these knives with ease.

So far, my set hasn't stained or discolored. Though, I always hand wash them with a soft cloth and dry them immediately.

I love the nylon carrying case as well, as it keeps my good knives out of sight from my fiance who used to grab my good knives to use for some outdoor project!

Overall, this is a good basic set at a great bargain price and they should work for any basic kitchen tasks. I love them.

Farberware Resin 8-Inch Chef Knife with Sheath, Purple

Farberware Resin 8-Inch Chef Knife with Sheath, PurpleWhen I saw the price I hesitated... after all, who can get a good knife that will last at that price? I bought it thinking it would do short term! OH YEA, then I bought another and now I'm planning on one a month to get the whole collection. If your budget is tight, or even if you can splurge, this is a great buy!

It's a great kitchen knife for home use, looks good but my huge guy hands are a little too large for the handle. My wife who loves purple says it's awesome. she's biased. edge stays sharp and the sheath is good for drawer storage, protecting the knife and hands as well.

I initially ordered this knife because I am addicted to purple (true story!) and wanted a sheathed knife for my everyday utensil drawer. I have found it to be safe and reliable for the general tasks of salad and vegetable prep, and the sheath is a reminder to myself and the grandkids that this is sharp! We can safely store it in without worry of accidentally stabbing ourselves when reaching for a steak knife or other utensil. It is extremely sharp, and as with any good blade is hand washed immediately after use; I expect to get many years of use from it.

Want Farberware Resin 8-Inch Chef Knife with Sheath, Purple Discount?

The sheath has a right way and a wrong way to go on, which is far from obvious. The knife gets very stuck almost all the way in if it is done incorrectly. Even with the sheath on correctly, a very small but sharp corner of the knife still sticks out by the handle.

The knife cuts well enough and is fun to look at. The color tricks you into thinking it is plastic, though! If you need a sheath, this is only OK, but there aren't a lot of choices of sheathed chef knives. If the sheath is not needed, make a different choice.

EdgeCrafter M420 Diamond File

EdgeCrafter M420 Diamond FileThis is a clever product for sharpening chisels. It has a firm base for holding or clamping in a vice and three magnetic blades of varying courseness. These are virtually indestructable and do not need oil. A must for every workshop.

An excellent sharpening tool. If you know how to use a whet rock, you will like this item. I have used mine for three years and have given several as gifts. All reports I get are good. Use with or without water. Use a brush with water to clean.

I've been using this sharpener on my knives for 2 years now. I love it.

I just bought another one as a gift for my dad. I don't know how much

more of a 'testimonial' a guy can give a tool than to have and use it

for two years and then buy one as a gift for his dad. They just work.

I'm not a great knife sharpener. I just can't get one razor sharp, where it

can cut the hairs on my hand/arm. I've tried to be. I know guys who can do it.

I bought a knife sharpening book, and bought a motorized whet stone that also has

a leather wheel. And I can absolutely get a knife VERY sharp with it. So sharp that

the edge will 'stick' to my fingernail at very sharp angles from both directions

(ie: doing test with both left and right hands). BUT I can get a knife JUST as

sharp with this little tool, which is MUCH cheaper, handier, faster, and easier to use.

I love the fact that it doesn't "load up" much, and stop sharpening, as regular

stones and ceramics do. Doing mostly knives, I don't use the coarse plate much.

About twice a year (after sharpening something like 15 knives), I clean the medium and

fine plates by putting some gun oil on them and brushing with a toothbrush, then

wiping with a rag. Voila. Good as new. And even that isn't absolutely necessary.

They work fine with no cleaning at all for a long long time. Perhaps not AS good

as when they were new, or after a light oil cleaning, but they still work.

Winco Heavy Duty Cleaver with Wooden Handle

Winco Heavy Duty Cleaver with Wooden HandleI use this cleaver in processing pigs, sheep and goats on the farm. I needed a sharp and heavy cleaver that would crack through bone quickly. This one sure does that job and hasn't failed me yet. I agree with the other reviewer that the handle has a little play to it, but while that is annoying it doesn't affect the knife in use. So why three stars? Its first day on the job we used it to help divide a hog carcass in half. We used the cleaver to knock the skull in two no easy job, and the cleaver did just fine but afterwords the edge of the blade was nicked and pocked and very dull. We sharpened it back up and still use it, but it's a clear sign that this is a low grade steel that won't hold an edge or take any real abuse.

I'll keep using it, and sharpening it, and using it, and sharpening it, since there is plenty of steel there, and we don't need it but 3-4 times a year. If you just need it for specialized jobs, like I do, it's fine. If you're looking for a stout knife for daily abuse, this isn't it.

(December 1, 2011: I just recently added a photo to the Amazon description page.)

This product -Heavy Duty Meat Cleaver 8" Blade -is labeled as model "KC-301" below the name "Winco." A sticker says it's made in China.

There are pluses and minuses to this meat cleaver.

On the plus side, when new the blade is deadly sharp. It literally cuts paper in a stroke. It has no trouble slicing into a tomato. That won't last long, of course, after several minutes of whacking into Beaver pelts and June bugs and Wallaby carcasses and then afterWard often whamping into the presumably hard surface beneath. But it is unreasonable to expect any blade to stand up to such a beating and stay sharp enough to slice a tomato. When it gets too dull you can sharpen it, which means regrinding, and until then you can hone it every so often, which means using a butcher's steel to realign the very edge of the edge.

Here, in case you believe it, is what the Wikipedia article says: "A knife-sharp edge on a [meat] cleaver is undesirable because it would quickly become more blunt than it if were less sharp but sturdier to begin with. The grind of Eastern Asian kitchen knives is 15-18 degrees, and for most Western kitchen knives it is 20-22°. But for a meat cleaver it is even blunter, more like 25°."

Also on the plus side, this meat cleaver weighs 15-7/8 ounces, which I'd pretty much call one pound, which is heavy, which is just what I wanted for hacking through bones. Also also, if you don't own a meat tenderizer you can flip this cleaver over and beat your meat with the totally blunt far upper corner (which you can do with any other cleaver for that matter).

That said, this is by no means a high-quality meat cleaver.

One defect, at least on my exact one, is that at least two of the three rivets are a bit loose. When you hold it by the handle in the usual way and waggle it, you can feel the tang of the blade swing back and forth a tiny bit inside the two grips.

Which leads to my second complaint, which is that there's room between the grips and the tang for food and bacteria and molds and viruses and other ick to slip into and propagate and later end up in your turkey stock or your acorn squash ice cream. (This would be true even if the rivets weren't loose.) Any such crud that gets in there is going to be impossible to scrub away. The only solution (ha) I've thought of is to swoosh the handle around vigorously in a solution of vinegar and water, or maybe even bleach and water, and then pray (ha ha).

There's a total of about 22 inches of linear space where such crud can get into (and, more importantly, out of) the grip. This is simply a design defect, unless it's a gross manufacturing defect. Either way, for this I subtract 1 star.

My third complaint is about the grind. You would expect the top of the grind line of a high-quality cleaver to exactly parallel the sharp edge, but it doesn't. And in two places you can see where there's a third grind line, which is indisputably a mistake. Either this was sharpened on a machine that was adjusted wrong or, much more likely, it was sharpened by a human that was careless.

Because of the cross-contamination problem I rate this product at 4 stars. If it cost $30 or more I'd rate it at 2 stars, but it's only 15 bucks.

So you can buy two.

P.S. Did anyone get the Beaver, June bug, Wallaby, afterWard joke?

This cleaver is of best quality. The construction is solid and heavy. The blade is 8 inches long and sharp....so sharp that when I unpacked it I cut my finger open before I knew it but my clumsiness is too blame for that. This cleaver is a great balance between heft and value. It goes about its business, in your hand, with clinical precision and power to spare. Cuts are very clean, and the nicely balanced blade makes short work of any bone which might challenge a lesser cleaver. I could barely contain my glee as my prep time was literally 'cut' in half, and in so doing, made a mundane task almost enjoyable. I would recommend this product to any chef worth his/her salt...the price is an added bonus.

I purchased the set at Sur La Table for $99. It was a great value because I wanted a long lasting knife set to start with. I was between the 6" and the 8", but the value for the 6" was much greater and it still had some weight to it. As far as the blade goes, everything I've cut through, cuts like butter, from lettuce, vegetables, chicken, etc. As long as you have the blade sharpened regularly and take care of the knife and hand wash, not dish wash it, it will last forever. I highly recommend this for new home owners or as a gift to someone special. Its a great set and a great gift idea at around a hundred bucks. Its an investment that lasts forever, that's how you need to think about it when buying these knives.

Melange French Classic Premium Porcelain 40-Piece Place Setting, Ivory, Serving for 8

Melange French Classic Premium Porcelain 40-Piece Place Setting, Ivory, Serving for 8I ordered this setting right before Christmas and so far it's been a great everyday set. The design is simple but elegant, nice enough to use with dinner guests but not too fancy for everyday. We've put them in the dishwasher nearly everyday and in the microwave, too, without incident. They are sturdy, however not too heavy like some other dinnerware we've had.

There is a small protruding line on the bottom of the dinner and salad plates as another reviewer mentioned as a quality control issue. I don't believe this is a mistake, as other dishware has had this element, as well. The protruding line is a little over an inch long and very thin, and the result is that the plates do not rest evenly on top of one another in the cupboard. This is only noticeable when they are stacked on top of each other and does not create any issues whatsoever when they lay flat on the table during a meal.

The bowls are traditional 'soup' bowls so very wide and elegant looking. I think it's worth mentioning that they are not handy for cereal where I prefer a much higher bowl to keep the milk and cereal in. But I just use another set of bowls for this purpose. I think the bowls are much nicer looking for entertaining guests and they can double to put candy in or appetizers since they look quite nice.

Overall, I'd recommend these to a friend for the price and quality. They are similar to the Mikasa set but more affordable.

I was in need of new everyday dishes and was tired of expensive stoneware chipping and showing scrape marks from flatware, ultimately looking terrible on the table. I still wanted something microwavable, ovenproof, freezer and dishwasher safe though. I purchased the Melange French Classic 40 pc set at Amazon recently. Although they are porcelain, Amazon's sale price was great and far cheaper than stoneware too.

These dishes are absolutely great! They are a creamy white color, with subtle non circular shape and not as heavy as stoneware. I have used them in the freezer, microwave, oven and dishwasher with no problems. If you want to create a great table setting with creamy white color that looks very nice against any color tablecloth and/or napkins.

I am very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend these dishes.

We received the set and immediately noticed an interesting "rib" protruding from the bottom of all the plates. At first, we thought it was some innovative new way of keeping the plates from rubbing against each other while stacked. After about 12 hours, we finally determined that it was a manufacturing defect on all of the plates in the set. Clearly it's not supposed to be there. We repackaged everything and shipped back to Amazon. It's a shame if you could trust the quality, it would be a nice budget set of china. However, the poor quality control from the factory in China makes it not worth the risk of needing to repackage and ship back the 40 lb box. Who knows if your set will come off the same factory run as ours?

I bought these dishes for a party and was pleased with how well they mix and match with my Mikasa Antique dishes? The pattern was subtle and timeless meaning they will be easy to use for a long time. The creamy color was soft and matched my linens as well as a nice blend with the decor of my home. The weight was easy to use, not too heavy but a strong medium weight. I loved the size of the dinner plate, a nice easy to use size. They do not chip, microwave and dish washer safe, good for every day use. I recommend these dishes as a personal use purchase or a wonderful gift. Simply put, they are useful, a great bargain and pretty too!

Victorinox Swiss Classic 3-1/4-Inch Paring Knife with Spear Tip, Orange Handle

Victorinox Swiss Classic 3-1/4-Inch Paring Knife with Spear Tip, Orange HandleI love this paring knife so much that I purchased a second one to make sure that I will always have one handy. It is perfect in every way. The size is just right. The handle fits my hand like it was made for it and it is ergonomical. The blade is very sharp and shaped perfectly to cut through the hardest veggies, like carrots, without any effort at all. I really love the colors available, also. I have the orange and the pink colors. They are both beautiful. After so many years of wasting money on expensive paring knives that I didn't like, I am so happy now with the Victorinox knives and will never buy another brand again. I also purchased the utility knife and love it just as much as the paring knives. It is perfect for cutting larger veggies, like cabbage.

I was disappointed with this knife. The blade is not as thin and sharp as the review led me to believe. I have another pairing life that I like much better.

J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 6-Inch Utility Knife

J.A. Henckels International Forged Synergy 6-Inch Utility KnifeWhile it is not the high-end Henckels knife, it is still great.

It has a nice weight to it, it feels very sturdy in your hand. If you are petite, or have children helping you cook, it may be just a little too heavy to use as your main knife.

It is insanely sharp too. This knife can cut half-frozen chicken like butter. I havent had it long enough to really know how well it keeps its edge.

I chose the 6" utility version over the 8" chef version because I felt the 8" was just slightly too large. I am average-size, and I find the slightly smaller knife gives more control when cutting.

If you want a great low-cost chef/utility knife, I certainly recommend it.

As with all my previous purchases with Henckels knives, I am absolutely thrilled with this one! Excellent quality at a price that wont break the bank. I would recommend this knife and any other Henckels' knives to anyone looking for something that holds up and is affordable! A++++ all the way!!!!

The only problemthe 6 in utility knife, which you use practically every day, separated from its handle and couldn't be fixed or replaced. Very disappointing. I bought this knife to replace it. It looks similar and although a little large, basically fits in the knife set holder. What I love is it is all one piece so won't come apart on me. Why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it started to go dull kind of fast. Other than that, I like it very much.

Santoku Knife, 7.13 in. Black Ceramic Blade,Ergonomic Handle

Santoku Knife, 7.13 in. Black Ceramic Blade,Ergonomic HandleThis is a cool knife, half cleaver and half chef's knife. Although, generally you use it more like a knife, because a cleaver doesn't have a bevel edge. The thing about this knife is that it is sharper than any steel, due to being ceramic. The blade is very wide too. If you slipped with this knife, it would make a horrifically deep cut. Since it is so damn sharp, I've been using mine to cut things. Haha. It is good for cutting ribs off a rack. The handle is unconventional, but you can get used to it. Overall, if you want to try a ceramic knife, this one is not bad. If I could change it I would make the point a bit more pointy, get rid of the bevel edge, and put a conventional handle on it. Still, it is 4 star knife.

Jaccard ABS Safe Hands Mandolin Slicer with 7 Interchangeable Blade Cartridges

Jaccard ABS Safe Hands Mandolin with Seven Interchangeable Blade CartridgesI bought this because, as an engineer with a background in Safety, I thought the guard is exceptionally well designed. I tried the straight slicer, two of the juilenne blades and the serrated blade. I found them all so dull that they tore rather than cut the food. The cabbage in my coleslaw, well, I ended up cutting about half of it with a knife. I tried peppers, onions and celery, all of which looked chewed rather than sliced. The celery was really rough looking, strings hanging out all over the place. When I tried to slice sweet potatoes into rounds, they cut part way and broke off the rest. I tried all of the above both with and without the guard.

My fingers are intact, but I wrenched my back from all the effort that I had to use to get the food to slice, if you can actually call it slicing.

I was not impressed with this slicer at all!! The blades seemed very dull. It mangled an onion rather than dice it and the only way I could get a tomato sliced was to wiggle it back and forth over the blade without the guard. The guard is very cumbersome to use and would not work if you wanted long slices of things like zucchini. Needless to say, I will be looking for another slicer.

Buy Jaccard ABS Safe Hands Mandolin Slicer with 7 Interchangeable Blade Cartridges Now

I haven't had much use with the device, so I'm sure it will get easier with time. Use and ease of cleaning is very simple for a first time user of a mandolin. However, the sliding mechanism is difficult to use if you want to slice a potato or carrot other than lengthwise, making it as "unsafe" as other mandolins. Unless the potatos are small, they don't fit in the sliding mechanism at all.

Not bad for the price, but still not as safe or useful as originally thought.

Read Best Reviews of Jaccard ABS Safe Hands Mandolin Slicer with 7 Interchangeable Blade Cartridges Here

I found this difficult to use right out of the box. The sliding mechanism may be safer than other mandolins, but it is clumsy and hard to keep on track. The blades are not as sharp as advertised. I think this may suffice for an periodic use, but it has no place in a serious amateur kitchen.

On the plus side, it is very easy to clean.

I agree with all the other poor reviews, for the same reasons. It just doesn't do a very good job of slicing, dicing, grating; whatever this thing was designed to do, it doesn't do it very well. Bad toad, Jaccard!

Oenophilia Barracuda Corkscrew

Oenophilia Barracuda CorkscrewSome might call me a seasoned professional when it comes to opening wine bottles. Not for a job, more of a hobby. I went through countless wine bottle openers including the rabbit, old school with the arms, and the powered ones that charge up. All that said, the screw on the rabbit breaks over time and the powered ones stop charging / working over time. This one works. Period. It does not require batteries, it does not break, it works. I'm not sure what the other review was referring to when they were talking about getting wounds from this.. All you need is a little forearm strength and the desire to partake in some vino. It's less than $10 and I've had it now for 3 yrs.

I'm not sure what product the previous reviewer is talking about, but the one I have is nothing like what he describes. Mine doesn't have any mysterious protrusions or sharp bits of metal anywhere. I think it's an excellent little corkscrew with a good feel and a nice design.

Buy Oenophilia Barracuda Corkscrew Now

I purchased this corkscrew at a specialty wine shop.

It looks real fancy even though it's made in China.

How it is supposed to work is it has a folding out edge that rests against the lip of the top of the bottle's neck after inserting the screw into the cork. This is a point of leverage with which you are to use it as a crowbar to remove the cork. The edge has two minute points of contact against the glass, so there is tremendous force against the bottle's lip. You will hear the glass start to fragment as you leverage the handle, and if you continue, you can end up breaking the bottle, severing your arteries, and getting a trip to the hospital assuming you survive at all. It is fundamentally flawed and dangerous in its design and should be withdrawn from sale immediately before people die.

Alternatively you can attempt to use it without the lever as a conventional corkscrew, wrap your hand around it, and pull. In this mode, you will discover that hidden beneath the folding lever in the above photo there is a sharp metal edge that will cut into your skin, causing excruciating pain.

Avoid this product at all costs.

John J. Steuby Co. Ez-duz-it Can Opener - Red

John J. Steuby Co. Ez-duz-it Can Opener - RedI have bought the expensive battery operated can openers, and some that were manual that were HORRIABLE!! I know THIS MADE IN U.S.A. IS THE BEST!! I can't even explain the frustration I've had with other can openers, they either don't allow you to drain off the liquid because it takes the outside seal off, or it chops into the metal and it takes you (me) about 15 minutes to get the darn lid off. Just buy this if you are done with being frustrated! Buy this if you have hardly any strength and just want to open a can! I've even named mine, BIG RED. You will not be disappointed!! And your welcome :)

This is an excellent can opener AND it's made in America. I do not support evil China enslaving people nor communism, so I was THRILLED to finally find a can opener that is NOT China made. (It was very difficult and I searched several brands at several stores. Plus it opens cans perfectly. This will last forever.

This product is a high quality USA manufactured can opener. Its price @ Amazon.com is competitive. Years ago I owned one made in USA and it lasted for years. I believe Americans could manufacture quality built to last products at competitive prices. Or perhaps foreign manufactured products are over-priced?

If you are in the market for a quality can opener, I would like to recommend John J. Steuby Co can opener.

I have been searching for months for a can opener made in the USA. Lately, it seems as if my can openers are only lasting about a year. This is just like the old fashioned one most people know and love and (unfortunately) are now made in China. Highly recommend this product!

I ordered this one after buying a similar one at WM. It last through about 3 cans. This one is like the swing-away I owned for so long. Just be sure not to wash in dishwasher as it will dull the cutters.

Jamie Oliver Knife Block, 6-Piece Set

Jamie Oliver Knife Block, 6-Piece SetI had previously purchased a very well known brand of knives from a major department store via the internet. Upon inspection, it was apparent that the knives were of inferior quality and were promptly returned.

To determine what to look for in a quality knife, I went to a store that carried knives and studied what an expensive set (which I could not afford) offered. The better knives had a "chunky bolster" which protected the hand and gave it more weight. There were also other considerations such as "full tang." I had also seen sets that had knives that I would never use and were missing a bread knife that I always use.

The Jamie Oliver Knife Block Set (purchase the sharpening steel also) has the knives that you will constantly utilize. They have wonderful balance and are quite "weighty" which results in less pressure needed for chopping or cutting. They cut easily and the handles are extremely comfortable. The set is aesthetically beautiful.

I am amazed that this set can be offered at such a wonderful price point.

Product seemed nice at first. Had to get around the fact that I couldn't set them near my stove since the block is too high. Started noticing a few rust spots then last week I was in a hurry so left a rinsed knife in the dishwasher to drain (did not run the dishwasher but closed it). The side up is completely rusted where the water was! Glad I didn't throw away my 30 year old Sears set. Never had a problem with them I'll go get them sharpened.

the knife are made with chinese steel and in china, some of the knife are not sharpned, therefore had to return the products.

we have these knives at work and I thought they were the best, so i ordered this set and i LOVE them!

cutting anything is like cutting thru butter! i highly recommend these knives. Well worth the money!!!

Good set of knives for the price. I don't love the star trek like design cut in to the wood so I tried to turn the block around...the unfortunate part is that the knives go in only at one angle, making it too awkward to take them out when the block is turned around.
