I love all Wusthof knives, but this little one and my 6-inch Chef's knife are my two very favorites and I probably use the two of them almost every single evening when I cook dinner. I adore this little straight edge paring knife and use it for everything except very large chopping jobs. It is beautifully made and sharp as all get out. I don't think there is anyone who would not enjoy owning and using this knife. I am about to order it as a gift for someone.

I got this as a wedding gift, and I was amazed at how much of a difference it makes in the kitchen! Good knives make cooking such an enjoyable experience, and Wusthof is well-known to be one of the best out there. The 8-piece set is perfect for people who want to start with a good set and build up on it. Of course I use the chef's knife the most, but I also use the bread knife and paring knife a lot too. I think a santoku knife would be a nice addition to this set, and perhaps steak knives would be wonderful to fill in the 6 slots on the bottom of the block, but in terms of practicality, I never feel like I need more than what I already have (but this is coming from a person who is a beginner in the kitchen). I have been using my knives for about 1 1/2 years now, and the knives are still as sharp as they were when we first bought it. I'm sure we will have to sharpen them eventually, but with good care I expect these to last a very long time.

The knife block itself has room for many other knives, and 6 steak knives. The knives themselves are extremely well made. The black handles with metal rivets are definitely a classic/elegant look, and the knives are incredibly sharp. Heavy and sturdy, these knives also hold their edge very well. My favorite knife is the 6" utility knife, because it's not too big, it can be used by men and woman alike (the 8" chef's knife may be a bit big for smaller women), and it's thin enough to get into smaller areas. Bought a set of these very knives 25 years ago and have never been disappointed. At that time, we had a problem with one knife, which was immediately replaced at no charge. Three years ago we bought a set of Chicago Cutlery knives as a gift for our daughter. It quickly became apparent that they were mediocre knives that quickly dulled and performed poorly. They were an embarrasment for us. We bought this set as a replacement. The contrast is remarkable. These are truly classic, top quality, high performing knives.

Little did I know how much I would use and LOVE this chopper!! I make "chopped salad" almost everyday I tried a friends "double blade" salad chopper only to get very annoyed about everything getting stuck between the blades and a bit afraid of cutting myself trying to get it out! Looking again on Amazon I ran into the"Ulu"!!! I asked a few questions and got such a "TREMENDOUS" response from people that owned one I ordered mine I would be lost without it now!! I received this knife after sampling both Henkels and Wusthof Classic knives. The Mercer Genesis series gives absolutely nothing up to either of these high end knives. The griping and balance feels perfect in your hand. Highly recommended.
Best knives I've ever used, and I was a professional cook/saucier for almost fifteen years. I've used almost every make Forschner, Dick, Shun, and three different Henckels series, and the Profection knives are the best designed and very well made.Weight, balance, finish, are all exactly right for my hand; the new bolster shape makes sharpening the full length easy, and the thick back provides better stability over long use. This is the 'bread slicer,' but it's also great for cutting up fish, frozen food, and cutting through bone.
I have been looking for a really good fillet knife for several years. I wish I had the money I spent on all the fillet knives I have purchased. I was always dissatisfied with the edge retention on even some of the higher end brands. I finally decided to go with a battery operated fillet knife and it does a pretty good job. This knife was suggested and I was fore warned that it would NOT be a cheap purchase. I bit the bullet and ordered the knife and went with the custom blade after reading the reviews. When the knife arrived I was pleased with the flexibility and the keen edge and scarey sharp point. I finally managed to clean a few fish after a recent trip and was pleased with the edge retention, I did use a leather strop on the knife prior to use. (I didn't have to stop half way through the filleting process and sharpen it). As I said it is not a cheap purchase and like any good knife does require a minimum of maintenance (i.e do not store it in the a wet leather sheave, clean it thoroughly after use... common sense things) to maintain this high quality knife. I will be going on a Canadian fishing trip this summer and will put the knife through a very vigorous usage. I will update my review after the prolonged "test".

Got this knife as a present for my parents as their carving set is a million years old and dull. Didn't have much to spend but the price made me a little wary anyway as I didn't want a cheap knife. Didn't have anything to worry about as it turns out. Overall, I am very pleased with the knife and fork. The knife was incredibly sharp, had a good weight,and a thick blade so it did not bend at all. It went through the turkey like it was cutting butter. Can't speak to the longevity obviously, but this was really nice for the price.
These aren't fancy silverware, obviously, but I was having trouble finding iced tea spoons, and these were extremely reasonably priced. Their long handles make them ideal for more than just iced tea. I use them in jars of jam or mayonnaise when I don't want to get my hands sticky.

What is this thing for? It's duller than a piece of plastic silverware, oddly shaped, and I believe they sent me the ugliest color they had... it's a kind of dull, dirty yellow. I guess it would be OK if you had a three-year-old who wanted to "help"" in the kitchen, or chop her play-doh into shapes... it's badly molded, too; there's a sharp ridge (mold mark) on the underside of the handle, which makes it uncomfortable to grip. After years and years of using regular tweezers to get those pesky bones out of my fish, I purchased these tweezers. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I'll never shuck by hand again. This opens the oyster with some force and then you just cut the attached parts from the top and bottom of the shell. No more worries about getting cut. With a thicker gauge metal and longer handle, this would be perfect. All others I found were so much more expensive that I wouldn't buy them unless I was going to use for restaurant quantity production. Very happy with my purchase!

Don't buy this knife unless you own a battery store. I cut four pieces of chicken and it used up the six AA batteries that I had just installed. I bought it yesterday, and I am returning it today. I had to give it one star because you can't rate something with zero stars.

I got this as a holiday gift for my mother, who suffers from debilitating arthritis in her hands. She has recently began to have problems with cutting meat, and was about to resort to plugging our electric knife in at the dining table to cut her steaks. This knife is small, but it has a pretty powerful motor! The only reason I would give it four stars instead of five is that (even before you put in the 6 AA batteries it requires) it is a pretty heavy knife to hold. Sharp and works as described, very sturdy!
The product information says that this tray is 7 x 10 x 2, so surely it will fit in a drawer that's 9 1/4 x 10 1/2 by 2 1/2, right? Nope. I even remeasured the drawer and clearly this product is bigger than the description says. The other problem is that it doesn't hold anything unless you have enough room to expand it. I admit that this one is really my fault. I should have measured my knives too, because they are too long and the bins are so narrow that it will only hold two of them side by side. The picture indicated as much but I failed to notice.

Good weight. After trying out many knives, I would say that this fits my average size hands very well and is not too heavy to wield and maneuver around. After cutting my food to prepare an entire meal, my hand, wrists, and arm still feel comfortable.
Paid a few dollars for the shears. They are a little loose and cheap. They might last awhile, if I don't try to cut anything hard. It's worth few dollars.
