NEW ROBOT COUPE 3/4 HP COMBINATION FOOD PROCESSOR R100 R101

NEW ROBOT COUPE 3/4 HP COMBINATION FOOD PROCESSOR R100 R101I use this R100 at work and it is underpowered and lacks options. The work bowl is too small for bigger jobs. The grey bowls are inferior to clear bowls. I purchased a 14 cup (3.5 quart) Cuisinart at home and it works much better, stronger motor, includes more options, and has a much better bowl capcity by a full quart. The price difference is very substantial; even without consideration of price, the Cuisinart is far superior.

That being said, I use the RobotCoupe R2 and an R3 at other work places and they are very powerful and xuperior to the Cuisinart; but their cost is prohibitive unless you can business justify them. That being said, Robotcoupe has some great (and expensive) options for the R2 that MAY fit the R100, but it will still will be underpowered.

Don't waste your money on the R100.

Absolutely awesome!

I've been using it for over 2 years, did not buy any additional disks, it come with 3 and that's plenty good, but you can buy some really neat ones if you are into parties.

Make sure you choose a clear bowl as it fills up fast.

I grate mushrooms, zucchinis, apples, and many other veggies.

I was considering Kitchen Aid, but it looked flimsy, just as expensive and who needs 12 speeds and 12 discs?

I'm glad that R100 is being offered through Amazon.

You won't be sorry for buying it.

Zwilling JA Henckels TWIN Pro-S Classic Parer

Professional S 3' Paring KnifeWhile visiting friends in KC, I happened to try their Henckels 4-star knives and was amazed at their sharpness, balance, and comfort. I immediately decided I NEEDED to get a set of these knives.

I quickly settled on the 4-star chef's and fillet knives, but tried paring knife after paring knife without finding one that really felt right. The 4-star handle is great on the big knives (where one grips the handle with the entire hand), but didn't feel right on the paring knife; it felt like my pinky was in limbo, not meant to be on the handle, but not meant to be off it, either.

Then I tried THIS knife. The Pro-S 3" paring knife just felt *right* it fit perfectly, it had just the right heft, and it was far more agile than the longer 4" knives. I've had it for six months and it performs exactly as I expected it to; this knife is just a joy to use.

I love the thing, but you'll probably want to do exactly as I did, trying a number of high-quality knives to find the one that feels right to you.

Henckels is the best quality if you stick to their Pro series. Skip their International line. This paring knife will last forever and fits well in the hands of both me and my much larger housemate. Holds it's edge well. Good tools make the job go well!

Buy Zwilling JA Henckels TWIN Pro-S Classic Parer Now

This knife was a Christmas present, and a replacement to a Forschner 5" utility knife that got lost (probably in the trash).

The Henckels Twin Pro S line are great knives. Professional quality stuff here including features like high-carbon, no-stain steel, drop-forged construction, triple rivets, full bolsters, full tang, and POM handles. It's weighted well, and feels good in the hand and pretty controllable for a 4" knife. The blade is long enough to use as a utility/sandwhich knife.

So far after 9 years it's been a good knife. It came from the box sharp and held it's edge for a good while before I sharpened it. The steel takes a great edge, and stays sharp for a while, but still needs to be re-sharpened after about a month of continuous use. This is respectable, but not great, especially for a knife costing $50.

I am impressed with the quality of this knife...no gaps anywhere between the handle, rivets, tang, or bolster and its balance.

However, I am not particularly impressed with the steel. It hasn't stained or discolored in 9 years, which is what I expected, but fell short of my expectations of edge-holding and ease of sharpening (I use diamond sharpeners). The angle of the edge from the factory was also over 20 degrees, which is too tall for kitchen cutlery. I compared this to my Forschner rosewood handled paring knives ($40 for a set of 3, 3" straight, serrated, and 4" utility), and the performance is so close that I wouldn't justify spending $50 on this knife. The Forschners are stamped knives, and performed very well for a fraction of the cost.

If you are looking for a good paring/utility knife, and have money to spend, then this will work very well.

I bought this thinking I'd be happier with it than a shorter paring knife, but I think that may have been an error. The blade itself is sharp and cuts nearly anything, but I find I use it minimally. Its too big for any high detail work, where I find myself fumbling and too small for any rougher work, where I endlessly reach for my santoku knife.

Remarkably, the only area I've found it highly effective for me is for sandwich making, where I previously used my santoku and a dinner knife. It can easily work its way through an onion or any other vegetable you'd want on the sandwich and allow for more simple tasks (like spreading condiments, cutting the sandwich, etc.) due to its nice length.

I bought this knife as a replacement for an older cheap one I had. I would say this knife is worth the money. Very sharp and it looks like it will last a very long time.

Montana Knife 10" Cook's Knife with White Poly Handle

Montana Knife 10' Cook's Knife with White Poly HandleGood balance, resharpens easily, fits hand nicely, great value for the price, hard to find any knives at all in this size.

This is the knife used in professional kitchens, that do a lot of good serious, unpretentious work. No frills. Great steel.

I just received my knife. This is a BIG knife and I have small hands, but I found it very easy to use. It feels good to cut with and it cuts easily and well. The handle feels secure. The blade is thin but does not feel flimsy at all. Supposedly the knife is dishwasher safe; I rarely use my dishwasher but I haven't ever seen a new stainless steel object emerge from a dishwasher the same as it went in. The hardness is good, hard enough to hold a fine edge but soft enough to retain some flexibility and not resist sharpening. Do not put this knife in a drawer with other knives; even if that is what you do with your knives, this knife is too big. Put it away carefully by itself or on a magnetic rack.

Kuhn Rikon Corn Zipper, Stainless

Kuhn Rikon Corn Zipper, StainlessI recently purchased the corn zipper. Absolutely terrific gadget. Fast, fun to use, easy to use and a nice sturdy quality tool. I have other gadgets for removing corn from the cob but this one is by far the best.

I want to love this product but it's not perfect. However, it's still better than any other way I have found.

Very well made (as are all Kuhn-Rikon products) in hefty stainless, with very sharp blades. The blade is about two-kernels wide and strips two rows per stroke. Which is ok, but of course, the varying widths of a kernel guarantees you are slicing through kernels much of the time. Still, beats a knife which always slashes kernels open with every stroke.

Best feature: You can generally get it to remove the kernel without leaving much behind or snagging some cob. This is fairly easy to do but not without some struggle to keep it from hanging up mid-stroke.

Someday, someone will think of a way to strip kernels off cleanly and wholly. Until then, this is the best.

Buy Kuhn Rikon Corn Zipper, Stainless Now

I bought this so I could put up a bushel of corn quickly. It worked. I read the other ratings for corn zipper and was a little apprehensive about getting it. I shouldn't have been. It worked beautifully.

Read Best Reviews of Kuhn Rikon Corn Zipper, Stainless Here

I tried the corn zipper and think that an old fashioned knife still works better. With the Corn Zipper it only cuts one row of corn and a knife you are able to one whole side of the cob and can do it in half the time. Didn't work for me Sorry!!

Want Kuhn Rikon Corn Zipper, Stainless Discount?

The Corn Zipper works great really great the only negative is the small amount of corn it removes at one time. (1-2 rows) I will still use it because for some reason I make a lot less mess than when I use a knife. I'd be really excited if they'd make a wider one and I'm sure they will give 'em time.

Furi FUR626 Ozitech Diamond Fingers Pro Knife Sharpener

Furi FUR626 Ozitech Diamond Fingers Pro Knife SharpenerMy wife was given an expensive Furi knife as a gift. I didn't want this to be relegated to the bottom of the kitchen odd-and-ends drawer because I couldn't sharpen it properly. I have (or had) number of different sharpeners, all useless or difficult to use: tungsten carbide pull-through, traditional steel, can-opener &c. So I got the Ozitech because it's Furi's own sharpener.

It's brilliant and easy to use. Not only does it keep the Furi in good shape it did a terrific sharpening job on a lot of other knives I haven't used for years. A quality Victorinox boning knife is now razor-sharp and a pleasure to use. I resurrected a couple of cheap-and-nasty stainless steel Chinese knifes even they are now useable. We tried the tomato test with the cheap carving knife just pressed it flat. Ten strokes through the Ozitech and it slices it neatly and easily, and I went to on to carve the roast lamb with it later that evening. It might not hold an edge but with the Ozitech it's quickly restored with 3 or 4 strokes.

The Ozitech isn't in the bottom drawer. It sits next to the knife block on the bench ready to be used when required.

Tried this on my favorite but often dull chefs knife and after 4-6 strokes was very very sharp. Works great as promised. casing cheap so not sure how long that will last or if it will hamper it's operation. compact, stores well, would be great for motor home or other small kitchen. For $29, makes me wonder what the $99 version does that Amazon also carries. knocked a star off for the cheap plastic case.

Buy Furi FUR626 Ozitech Diamond Fingers Pro Knife Sharpener Now

Easy to use and it works as advertised.

I had one really dull knife and I did 6 swipes through the thing as suggested. Didn't do much. I thought the gizmo might not be any good or at least not up to this particular task . Another 10 swipes and this knife is sharp as the deuce.

I'm pleased. Beats trying to get the angle right on a steel or living with dull knives.

You can see the diamond pieces and really feel them sharpening as you pull the knife through the fingers. An ingenious device.

They give you ample warning, but be careful opening the thing. It's plastic and you can break it in an instant if you try to force it the wrong way.

I bought this knife sharpener because I was tired of knives that would not cut & the vender I brought it from, The Handy House, told me that it worked and I had bought things from her before on her word. And it works. My knifes are old & dull. A few swips through the sharpener blade & I had a brand new knife & the price is also good.

This sharpener is a God-send. Trying to sharpen knives is always a pain. There is a real art to doing that and I am definitely challenged in that respect. Using a stone is really hard to learn but just pop this open and away you go!

The only issue I have is the cheapie clips on the side that you have to pop open to open the pack. Why use such flimsy plastic that will eventually crack instead of some sort of a hinge?

Zenker 11-Inch Springform, Tin Plated

Zenker 11-Inch Springform, Tin PlatedI needed a new pan to replace an older springform pan. This pan is a larger size than most, which is exactly what I needed for my cheesecake recipe. It is well constructed, better than other pans I looked at. How well it will hold up through out the years, I do not yet know as I have only owned this product for a few months. but so far so good. *** I have now owned this pan for 6 months and thought I would give an update. I have made my favorite cheesecake recipe several times, which calls for 2.5 lbs of cream cheese, and this pan does a wonderful job! The cake has always come out easily, and it bakes nice and even each time. The pan cleans up nicely and still looks new.

I love the rounded shape of the spoons, particularly how they contrast with the lines of the handles and the tines of the forks. So far, they do great in the dishwasher. I highly recommend them.

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set, Butter

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set, ButterI Loved the color of the pans. I love that they all had lids. The only reason I did not give these pans a 5 star is because I do not know what happened to my medium sized pot, but it bent, my lid does not fit on it now, I didn't drop the pan, It was fine when I first cooked with it, my second use of the item I noticed it was bent, maybe it was during my cleaning, but it is very sad because now the lid does not fit on correctly. It would also be awesome if there was a lid for the smaller cooking pan. Other than that, I love this set! But I did notice it was alot cheaper at Wal-Mart after I purchased them online, and that was also disappointing, and I mean almost $30 cheaper. But the set, I like it alot.

It's been 6 months and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pans. I read reviews that they can't handle the dishwasher and I can't say if they do since I hand wash all my pans and plastic. I also read reviews that the color wipes off even when had washed but I wanted the color so much I took the risk and the color has lasted easily. In fact one time I need to use soft scrub on the outside of the pan from an over flow that cooked on and I was careful at first but quickly realized the color doesn't come as easily as some reviews I read. The non stick has lasted too but I do put a cloth between the pans so when stacked the metal doesn't harm the non-stick. They're a joy to cook in.

At first I was very impressed with this set. They were very pretty. I have had them about 2 months now. Even though I hand washed them like the directions said and I didn't put them in the dishwasher, the copper plated accents have peeled off! I received a set of 2 skillets from my son for Christmas so I decided to buy the entire set to replace my very well used set of T-fal cookware. I normally won't consider the purchase of cookware that is not dishwasher safe, but this set is easily cleaned with soapy water. I like the ceramic coating on the outside of the pans and the yellow colors are very attractive. This cookware is lighter than some I have had in the past and I have found they tend to slide on the cooking surface. One skillet has a chip in the ceramic coating and I am concerned this can be a problem with the set in the future. The set includes a very nice chicken fryer and a small sauce pan that is perfect for a can of vegtables or a can of soup. I like the rubber coated handles and the clear glass lids. I do recommend this set, expecially at this price.

Reversible Mini Bar Cutting Board by Trudeau

Reversible Mini Bar Cutting Board by TrudeauI really like the reversible feature. Also it has a rubber edge so it does not slide around the counter. In addition, as of yet it shows no knife marks like some cutting boards.

Nancy from Chicago

I purchased one of these at BevMo about a yr ago because it was cute, and now its something I use all the time. Its pretty thick and does great in the dishwasher. Its perfect for things like cutting fruit, garlic and making guacamole. What I like best, it matches a covered ceramic knife i have and I can bring both to work or events because its somewhat small, safe and portable!

Camp Chef KSET9 Knife Set with Stainless Steel Rubber Handle and Deluxe Carry Bag, 9-Piece

Camp Chef KSET9 Knife Set with Stainless Steel Rubber Handle and Deluxe Carry Bag, 9-PieceI love this cool new 9 piece knife set, from Camp Chef .

It is a great value ,without sacrificing quality.

The stainless steel blades keep and hold a sharp edge. The rubber ergonomic grips ,keep the knife steady, in your hand. It will be very useful, in any camping /fishing /hunting situation, or your home kitchen. I cut up food, wild game, and fish a lot, in all of my culinary adventures ,and have seen a lot of cheap knives ,but this is a quality set for the money . The shears can cut thru a chicken leg ,in a heartbeat. I give this knife st a very high recommendation for Value ,The way they handle, and quality at an affordable price.

Pros // the balance and feel makes working with them easy. The grips feel great in my hand. The case keeps it all handy.

Cons// The cutting board is a little small ,but works well .

Fishgriller approved, I hope this review is informative and helpful.

In most cases a set of knives you get for this price in a set are usually "one time use products"

The GOOD

This kit has the perfect blend of quality and selection you could want.

Handles quality with a solid ring to keep out unwanted food.

Blades have a great out of the box edge.

Scissors, contoured cut a chicken into a quarter with no effort at all.

Great Case

I have not used the filet knife yet but think it will be good also.

The BAD

Cutting board is nice but if you cut any meat or fish on it you really cant just throw it back in the sleeve.

a pack of disposable cutting boards should fill out the kit Norpro Cut-N-Slice Flexible Cutting Boards, Set of 3

Messermeister Pro-Touch 2-3/4-Inch Shellfish Knife

Messermeister Pro-Touch 2-3/4-Inch Shellfish KnifeThe things I look for in a shellfish knife are a rigid blade and a good grip. This one has both. I'm not terribly afraid of the blade snapping off if I find a particularly stubborn clam, though the tang is significantly smaller and thinner than the blade, so snapping might still be a possibility down the road. The blade is sharp enough to wiggle its way into the shell, but not so outrageously sharp that a slip would require a trip to the emergency room. Most importantly, the handle is rubberized, so even when your hands are wet you are able to maintain a decent grip on it. Probably not the greatest shellfish knife ever made, but for the price I'd take it over the OXO any day. Perfect for occasional use, but probably not for everyday employment.

MIU France Stainless Steel Magnetic Knife Bar

MIU France Stainless Steel Magnetic Knife Bar, 20-InchI ordered two of these, and just put them up today. After reading other reviews of magnetic knife holders, it's clear that the main complaints are 1) the magnet is either too strong or not strong enough, and 2) some of them are just too flimsy.

This knife holder is perfect in every respect. Both the body and the mounting brackets are made from very heavy-gage stainless steel. It is easy to mount, easy to clean, and the magnet seems to be just the right strength, which is critically important. Either too strong or too weak would be flat-out dangerous!

Figure that the 15-inch model will hold 6 to 8 knives, depending on the size of the knives and how far apart you like them.

I have an incredibly small kitchen that's just finishing a remodeling two years in the making. Since no walls were knocked out, utilizing every square inch of space is still a priority, and this knife rack does it in style.

But since the kitchen's so small, you might be wondering why I went for the bigger knife rack. That's cause the place I intended to put it is on a cabinet that butts up against the cooktop. The cabinet's the traditional 24 inches wide, so this rack centered perfectly in that space, and enabled me to toss the counterspace-eating knife block.

Stainless steel's a big component in this remodel, so this knife rack fits in perfectly. I put it up myself, so let me warn you it's HEAVY. I drilled two holes at the right height, but for the life of me, I couldn't screw in the rack towards the backsplash. A hint you might helpful is to use masking or painters tape to tack up the center of it until you can drive the screws in (leave the easier screw out a bit so you have room to maneuver; when the back screw is in, you can tighten both.) See? All those hours watching home improvement shows weren't for naught!

The one thing I found a bit puzzling was the "S" design in the rack. I couldn't tell from the pictures if that was a recessed or raised design. Well, if you were wondering, let me tell you it's a cut-out S. At first I thought if it was raised, I'd only have enough room to store the knives between the raised design, but because it's just an incised figure, you can put as many knives on this thing as you can jam! (There are two magnets, the long, thin, horizontal strips that frame the S design.)

The knives are held firmly, but it's easy to remove them with little effort. I know some folks seem to be having a problem with it. I'm scarcely Superman, and I have no difficulty pulling them from the rack without beheading anyone.

If you have the space, go for the 20 incher. You'll save $20 over Amazon's suggested retail, and it's a better buy than the smaller model.

I highly recommend it, esp. if you want a design statement that adds to the appeal and space demands of a small kitchen.

Buy MIU France Stainless Steel Magnetic Knife Bar Now

Contrary to other information you'll find here, this knife bar is not too heavy, nor are the magnets anything but perfectly powered.

The mounting hardware provided will safely mount the holder to any horizontal surface, even drywall. All you need is a drill and a screwdriver. It takes about five minutes.

The magnets are strong, but not too strong. Weak hands can always slide a knife off instead of the brute force horizontal yanking method.

I purchased two of these and mounted them under my cabinets. One wouldn't be large enough to store all of my metallic goodies. In addition to knives and cleavers, I also stick accessories like my peeler on there. The knife bar is so stylish and its stored items so conveniently located that there's no notion of clutter.

These are a must-have for any kitchen.

My knives are a crucial part of my kitchen and I want only the best for them, so I wanted to go with a magnetic strip.

Hiding your knives in a drawer is a shame, can be dangerous if they're just free floating in there, and can also dull them if they bang around with other items. Not good

Keeping knife blocks on your counter eats up counter space and is just bulky. Many times I have to guess which knife is in which slot too, and if I have knifes that don't fit in the block, or more knives...I end up with knives in the drawer or multiple blocks. Not good.

My knives are beautiful and I love having them displayed out in the open. It also makes for easy retrieval. I hung this strip up right up above where I work, so when I need to switch from my Chef's Knife to a Paring knife, I just reach up, grab the handle and there it is! Very easy, no having to fumble to open a drawer or guess which knife it is in the knife block.

Of all the magnetic strips I've seen, this one is the largest, heavy, durable, great styling, and has the best quality. My only want for it is to be bigger...although, if it were any longer, I would have a hard time finding a place to mount it, so I think just buying another one would be the way to go.

It doesn't have to just be for knives either. I have many steel items that I think would be perfect mounted on this strip. The possibilities are endless!

Bottom line, I would definitely recommend a magnetic strip as a way to store knives. I would definitely recommend this strip over the others if you care about quality and looks.

This item is extremely well built, sturdy and very easily mounted, with easy removal should it be necessary for moving, remodeling, etc. Extremely good with holding lOTS of knives of all sizes. For lack of horizontal space to mount, I had to mount it vertically, and attach knives on an angle even with this unusual mounting, the knives are held very securely and do not shift or slip. I am VERY pleased with this product.

Bob Kramer 10" Carbon Steel Chef's Knife

Bob Kramer 10' Carbon Steel Chef's KnifeThis knife stands alone in combining incredible blade design, balance, fit and finish, with a carbon steel blade that is easy to sharpen to a razor sharp edge. Zwilling and Kramer have got the heat treatment down because this knife holds a long lasting edge. Bob Kramer has designed a fantastic chef knife here. I think that Zwilling has carried through on Kramer's design and produced an exceptional chef knife. It is in a class of its own.

I routinely cut through bone with the sturdy heal but, the tip is thin and works well for delicate cutting. I end up not reaching for other knives because this knife is such a good all around chef knife. It has not been prone to chips and it takes well to the stones. This knife is a versatile work-horse. Mine has taken on the most beautiful patina with some hints of blue. Beautiful knife.

If you need only sharpness on kitchen knife,

you should buy a japanese knife that is made of yasuki-hagane.

(For instance, if you are going to cut a tuna for sushi)

But If you want useful one ,I recomend you Bob Kramer.

In my opinion,Bob Kramer-henkel has two strong points.

Point 1

Is made of 52100 steel.

This steel was developed for bearings,so very high quality and will last long time.

(Of course,you should avoid stain)

Point 2

Has good shape and weight balance.

For instance, the center of gravity is in the border between blade and handle.

So, you can rotate easily and utilize the weight in cutting.

And long distance from edge to spine is useful to avoid touching your hand on the things cut.

In addition,

My knife was shparpend to clear Bob's 5 test in the factory.

But If you can hadle a japanese natural water stone, you can get more sharp edge.

At last...

This good knife is made in Japan, but not be selling in my country japan.

I envy you.

Just got this knife this week and love it. Really sharp out of the box, though it can be sharper, esp. since it's carbon steel. Handle is beautiful and fits like a glove in my hand. You can't neglect this knife; it needs to be washed and thoroughly dried each time you use it. But it doesn't need to be babied. A real pleasure to use.

Update: My opinion of this knife has dropped dramatically. Tried cutting a beef rawhide for my dog this week and not only did the knife fail, but the attempt left a gash in the steel! My much cheaper Forschner goes through these easily. VERY disappointing. Am returning the knife and not getting another.

They didn't come very sharp. I had to work both of them over. One even had a small steel burr on the handle.

They are partial tang with a very light weight wood. It isn't really a problem, just the balance feels different and they took getting used to.

They are better than a lot of low end paring knives, but I don't recommend them unless you're prepared to do some sharpening before use.

Shun Reserve ND0718 Hollow-Ground Santoku Knife, 7-Inch

Shun Reserve ND0718 Hollow-Ground Santoku Knife, 7-InchI bought this knife because of the SG-2 microcrystalline steel. I am truly surprised at the beauty of this knife. Getting past the beauty, this knife does everything it is supposed to. It glides through vegetables with ease. I found the edge was ready to touch up after one month (most of my German knives require touch weekly or more often. I used a leather strop with 1 micron polycrystalline diamond paste. Just a few passes restored the edge to factory sharp. This knife is low maintenance, easy to use, and a pleasure to own. While this quality of knife is not for everyone, those who enjoy slicing vegetables, even to paper thin slices, will love this knife for the rest of their lives.

the price and quality of this shun sano was awesome i love it . this is my new go to knife without a doubt. no ?????????????? about it!!!!!!!

This is a Bob Kramer-designed knife (a primo knife designer). The blade is SG-2, a next generation steel with layers of other alloys sandwiched over the blade to prevent corrosion, etc. The blade itself is very hard, as in Rockwell Cscale 64, which means you will probably destroy both the blade and whatever motorized sharpener you are using. This blade demands sharpening by hand on an Arkansa white stone, lots of honing oil, a load of patience, and learning what a 16degree angle is all about. Don't wait for this blade to get really dull; hone it a little when you notice it not gliding through whatever you are slicing or dicing. Learn that and life will be good. Knives of these quality are not for the amateurs who use the cheapo crapper knives you buy for $1.99; these are for people who love to cook, can appreciate GOOD QUALITY knives, and faithfully clean them when finished. I use veggie oil to simply wipe the blade down and gently wipe with an old clean piece of terry cloth so as to leave a lite film of oil on the blade. This knife is as sharp as a scalpel so be very careful. Do not drop it or hack at bones with it (buy a cheapo cleaver instead). As you become more at home with this knife, you will soon appreciate its capabilities. Yes, this knife is pricey but you get what you pay for, especially in kitchen knives. I have over two dozen top of the line kitchen knives from Germany, France, and Japan, and this one is the perfect blade and handle design and made from near-perfect steel by Japanese craftsmen who know their trade.

Wusthof Knife Block, Walnut Finish

7263%2D3 22 Slot Block %2D WalnutThere are a limited number of wide slots if you have primarily wide chef-style knives. Despite the appearance in the picture, on the block I received, the edges of the slots were not cleanly fitted together; rather than the lines being perfectly perpendicular, the small slats of wood between the knife slots were pretty rough and somewhat hastily assembled. I ended up returning this block mainly because I didn't quite care for the color. It's kind of dull and ashy in appearance. In the end, I rated this down one star due to the sloppy appearance. I'm sure it would function just fine.

With the above said, one of the reviews on the knife block I ended up with (Wusthof 35 Slot Storage Block, Cherry) included specific dimensions of the slots, so I thought I'd break out the digital caliper and post similar measurements for this block. The sizes of the slots from top to bottom, left to right, are:

Row 1

1. 2.47" x 0.25"

2. 1.19" x 0.22"

3. 0.69" x 0.62"

Row 2

4. 2.13" x 0.25"

5. 2.13" x 0.25"

Row 3

6. 1.82" x 0.19"

7. 1.19" x 0.19"

8. 1.19" x 0.19"

Row 4

9. 3.17" x 0.25"

10. 1.25" x 0.28" (0.55" to the top of the semicircle)

Row 5

11-14. 1.00" x 0.15"

Row 6

15-22. 0.13" x 1.00"

I received this product in great condition and it looks just like the picture. I have been able to put all my knifes in there and I still have a couple spots. It looks great in my kitchen and I would recommend this product.

When you spend money on quality knives from Germany, it's only

normal to expect the same quality with the wood slot block.

What I received looked nothing like the picture. Basically, a

white hardwood with a bad walnut stain. Also, it didn't come

from Germany, it was made in China. Very poor quality. Many

splinters around the knive slots, excessive glue around joints.

Tried another company with the same German picture and received

the same thing. Sent that back and gave up.

Still looking for a knive block that I can buy in person.

Exactly what we've been looking for. The color is great--the darker stain looks more quality than the normal pine color. I only wish there was a shine to the stain--it came very dull. We put some wood polish on it and now it looks perfect.

Magic Knife As Seen on TV

Magic Knife As Seen on TVBeware the advertisement on this gem. It does nothing but take up space and cringes when it sees a cake it has to cut! Ranks high it wasted money on my part. Would have loved to see it do just one 'magic' trick.

Definitely doesn't do what the description states that it should do. Wears out quickly. Pretty much garbage.

I have had one of these knives for years. I bought it for the purpose in which it was made. This is a great knife for cutting LETTUCE. It won't cut cake because it is not made to cut cake. I just bought one for a friend.

Metal knives destroy vitamins in lettuce and make the lettuce go rusty faster. Before this knife was invented it was better to tear the lettuce. Now we can cut it with the "PERFECT LETTUCE KNIFE"!!!!
