I bought the knife from Wal-Mart, so I can only assume it's the same as this one. My excitement for having a dedicated "veggie" knife quickly faded after having cut my first tomato. Then any enthusiasm that was remaining has completely died in the few uses after that.My biggest gripe with this knife is in the way it is sharpened. The blade is only sharpened from one side. It is very sharp; however, the sharpened portion is shaped like a wedge. I'm not sure if this is standard practice for veggie knives, but it makes it extremely hard for me to use. The knife drifts horribly to the right while attempting to cut things. I can't cut anything straight. I've tried it with tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, apples, onions, peppers, and pineapples. Everything I try to cut suffers from the same drifting problem. I get the feeling that if I were left-handed I might be able to use this to my advantage, but alas I am not a lefty. This is the best knife I have ever known to cut vegetables and fruits. Makes cutting easier and quick and you don't have to strain while the knife does its part. Excellent buy!

I have a friend whose a chef who covets my knife so I figured Id look on Amazon and unbelivably they had it and it was still $60.00. I know guns and knives pretty well and I would say that blade is worth between $150.00-$200.00 no problem. It also makes a fantastic fillet knife for large fish like White Sea Bass. I see the deckhands on the dive boats I frequent with a more comercial kithen knife white handle but same blade configuation.I got this knife after being in MI and seeing all the charter boat aptins using is to cut up all the fish. I have never seen a knife just slide right though a 20lb samon without any effort. I have used other kifes and electric ones in the past. This putts all other knifes to shame. Lets just start with the fact this is a 12inch blade you might not need this but once you get used to it you can go through fish like nothing. I have also gotten the 8 inch breaking knife and another great knife. If you want to cut alot of meat and fast this is your knife. Hamilton Beach 74250 Carve 'n Set Electric Knife with Case, White
This is a really nice electric knife carving set. I bought it because it was such a good deal and also because i always find myself saying, "Gee, it would be much easier to cut this up if i had an electric knife." And now i have one. The nice storage box, not mentioned very well in description, makes it very easy to store. It is very annoying with other knives i have seen to have blades in one place, electrical part in another and carving fork somewhere else. this makes it very easy to store in one place. And its from a name you know and love! This is a great little electric knife set. The knife is powerful, the blades are sharp, and the handy cutting fork and storage box make it a sweet deal. It took me only a minute to figure out the best way to open the plastic storage box, so don't be too discouraged by the other reviewers. I didn't find it all that difficult, and it's so handy to have everything stored neatly together. If you're looking for a good deal on an electric knife, I recommend the 74250 Hamilton Beach Carve 'N Set.

I have carved up approx. 24 roast beefs and 3 turkeys since having it and it hasn't stalled out yet and doesn't seem as though it will. I hope I am not jinxing myself by writing this but give it a shot the worse that can happen is you will return it for a full refund. I hate this knife. I've had it for a year now and every once in a while I figure I'll give it another shot so I pull it out again and am quickly reminded of why I hate it.First: the two blades are too far apart I end up with a good fraction of what I'm cutting getting shredded BETWEEN to the two blades.
Second: there's no lock for the trigger so you have to hold it down for the entirety of the slice (and if sawing through a thick roast, you're holding it down for a REALLY long time).
Third: The handle is large and awkward. I don't have small hands but just to be sure, I had my large handed friend try it. He didn't consider it to be particularly comfortable either.
I'm going to see if I can find a better electric knife because, lord knows, a good one could get a lot of use in my kitchen. The "try agains" for this one are over I'm putting it on Ebay for some other unfortunate soul to use. Clearly there are a lot of positive reviews so I'll sell it to someone who might actually like the thing!

This sharpening steel was by far the lowest quality product I have ever ordered. The rod was not even round, as there were dimples along the body where apparently the grinding process to get it round never even touched. This produced a very uneven surface that was at one point fine, then coarse, then fine again which would play hob with any knife edge.... not to mention the changing of angles as the knife moved down the rod. Nor was the rod straight. It looked as if the rod was warped in the manufacturing process. It's too bad because this sharpening rod is a great idea that could have worked very well, but the quality and manufacturing process was the worst I've seen to date and the rod I received was totally unusable. A sad reflection on how cheap this coutry has become. However, Amazon was very helpful and polite, and made arrangements for a return and complete refund.for who likes cooking with knifes they are cutting well this tools is probably the best balance between quality and cost

I used them all the time in New Zealand. However, when the knives arrived, only one of the knives is serrated? Never mind, they are still very good knives at a reasonable cost.Buy Kuhn Rikon Classic Serrated Utility Knives, Set of 3, Yellow, Green, and Red Now
I've been using these knives for years for camping/car camping. There are three different knives: Green, straight 3 5/8" blade 8 1/4" OAL (over all length), good for pairing knife or cheeses; Yellow, serrated 4 3/4" blade 9 3/8" OAL, good for breads; Red, straight 6" blade 10 3/8" OAL, good for misc slicing and chopping. Very light weight sturdy design, the sheaths fit snuggly and ventilate the knifes if still wet. The blade is extremely sharp, and stays very sharp (I use a nice set of Wusthof knives in the kitchen, and would compare their performance to these). I've already have had friends that have camped with me buy a set. For the price, you really can't get a better set for camping, or an RV, tackle box, survival kit, etc.Maybe it's just me, the green knife is useful and used, the yellow knife used rarely, the red knife is very light weight and doesn't cut very well, I don't recommend them.Want Kuhn Rikon Classic Serrated Utility Knives, Set of 3, Yellow, Green, and Red Discount?

Global GSF-17 - 2 1/2 inch, 6cm Bird's Beak Curved Peeling Knife
Among my assorted bird's beak paring knives, this one has a special place. There's no hiding place for any transfer of salmonella bacteria from poultry to produce, for this knife is made of a single piece of steel, and the solid handle has good weight. (Not all knives in this line have a solid handle.) Furthermore, it stands up to use and abuse, unlike any other knife I've ever had. I bought mine in a specialty knife store (which has since gone out of business) close to ten years ago. After a nameless family member helped out in the kitchen, it seemed to have disappeared, and I mourned for this little knife. Turns out said family member had accidentally dumped it in the composter, along with a small mountain of vegetable waste. I boiled it and it rejoined the household.
Comfortable to hold, it does a variety of paring tasks well in the kitchen. Slipperiness mentioned in reviews of other knives in this line has not been a problem. Weight and balance are excellent. I like the completeness with which it can be cleaned.
If you have a kitchen or flower garden, you'll find good uses for it outdoors as well. I grow edible ginger, as well as the kind with flowers. For cutting the rhizome from the plant, this can't be beat. I also use it when it's time to thin the heliconias and strip old leaves off lilies.
In perusing reviews about other knives in this line, there appears to be concern about sharpening the Japanese-made steel. I use a Chantry knife sharpener and find it brings this knife back to an acceptable edge.
BOTTOM LINE: If you like the bird's beak style of paring knife, you are likely to find a use for this one. Amazon's price is excellent. I paid about twice the amount and would recommend it even at that price. If you've never tried a bird's beak paring knife, this one is reasonably priced and especially versatile for the reasons mentioned.First thing to note, if you've not used a bird's beak before, is that this is a specialty function knife. Don't buy it before you get (at least) a few other kitchen knives, especially a parer/utility and chef's knife. Some relatives have come over and tried to use it in conjunction with a cutting board and quickly set it aside--which is fine because they were getting ready to slice a finger off.
I've used it for fluted mushrooms, which is still more work than I'd like, and it does the job fine. It also works well with paring hand-held fruits and vegetables, but not being an expert, I still prefer the conventional gizmos for that.
Where it excels for my wife and I is in cutting up poultry. We usually buy our birds whole. The only time we carve is Thanksgiving. The rest of the time, whether before or after cooking, the knife of choice is this Global bird's beak. It is a veritable joy to disencumber our fowl of their appendages and such. "A hot knife through butter" as the saying goes, applies perfectly here. A whole bird is easily sectioned into six to twelve pieces in seconds. A cleaver can work as fast, but we're more joint-finders than makers, and the small knife and no-cutting board approach works great for us--less space taken, less washing, less mess. The curved point and shorter blade make the non-cutting-board approach such a good choice--I sure wouldn't recommend this technique using those 10-inch "broadswords." Of course a good chef's knife can work well too--you gotta have them, but this Global is perfection.
Sharpening takes extra time and care, but it rarely needs it--keeping a razor edge for at least half a year with about once-per-week use.

I'm not going to spend a lot of time discussing this knife as it is very much the same quality of knife that you would expect from Global. Just like all Global knives, it is a solid, one piece knife that has a razor sharp edge that stays sharp longer than most other brands of knives.I originally bought this knife for use in culinary competitions, and it's one of those knives that really doesn't get a whole lot of attention, but sure is handy when you need it. I use it primarily to tourne potatoes. The shape is designed for that purpose, and the knife is therefore often described as a "tourne knife". Sure, you could use it to complete many different tasks from food to general house hold needs, but I wouldn't pay $30 to use it as an all purpose knife when there are so many cheaper options out there.
If you're less interested in the uses of the knife and more curious of the quality of the knife, feel free to read one of my other reviews on Global knives. I use them every single day at work, and I have very little interest in exchanging them for any other brand.

Contrary to what you might have read before regarding this product. This meatloaf pan works just as discribed. Just don't accidently lift it out of the oven by the inner rack handles. Lift the whole pan out of the oven and then lift off the meatloaf. Love the non-stick. Meatloaf just slid onto my serving plate. I've been cooking meatloaf for over 35 years, worring about the grease, etc. This is the best pan I've seen on the market and we bought one for our daughter for Christmas. This meatloaf pan does everything it claimsdrains the grease, creates a perfect "loaf", and easily comes out. Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 8-Inch High Carbon Stainless Steel Bread knife
After buying a bread machine, we now no longer buy our bread. Everyone (children and adults) cuts their own bread, at the table, to the slice thickness they prefer. With my old bread knives, the slices quite often came out looking like an ocean surface (waves and all). After upgrading to this Henckel (to match my other Henckel knives), we can now all cut straight slices. It doesn't matter if the bread just came out of the bread machine (yum) or if the bread was baked yesterday. No longer is the French bread (hard crusts) squashed while we try to slice it. This is definitely the "best thing since sliced bread"!This knife's best at slicing tomatoes and other veggies. It's a bit short for cutting big peasant loaves, and the straight blade makes it harder to cut at an angle down through the bread, since the sharp point, while great for starting a cut through an obstinate veggie skin, can get stuck in your cutting board. The serrations work great, however, slicing through both crust and soft inner breadness.Buy Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 8-Inch High Carbon Stainless Steel Bread knife Now
I've had this knife for over ten years and have never had it sharpened. It still works great. This is possibly the best Santoku knife you can buy, unless you are willing to consider one of the (really expensive and non-stainless) high-end Japanese knives. The quality of it is very strong and sturdy, plus the blade is super sharp and keeps a great edge! A sharpening steel has keep it like brand new sharp when needed! I have a Henckles 5 Star Santoku and this is several classes better. The steel is ZPD-189 which is a new super steel that can get to a hardness of 67-69 vs about 58 for the 5 star. That means it can hold a much steeper angle and therefore be sharper, it will stay sharp longer too. It's difficult to sharpen but not impossible. The handle for me is comfortable. The only negative is you can get the Miyabi 700MC a lot cheaper. It is the same blade (owned my Henckles, makes the blade for this Twin Cermax) with a different handle.Want Zwilling J.A. It is made of wood (not composite board), but that wood is laminated with a white vinyl finish, not painted. One of my pieces came with three parallel slits in the laminate that would face out and front. I requested a replacement on the manufacturer's website on a Sunday afternoon and the piece arrived by Priority Mail on Wednesday. The top is lacquered wood, so you will want a cutting board any time you use a knife during prep work. It was well packed--the defective piece went into the box that way. Assembly is always the hard part with this sort of furniture. It was harder than good Ikea pieces and not as hard as the worst I've done over many years. It looks nice when assembled.Make sure you have Goo Gone and some soft paper towels at hand because all the pieces have sticky labels. Goo Gone will remove the glue but not harm the laminate. Other solvents are deadly for laminate.
The instructions are almost all pictures with a few cautionary words here and there. Caution: don't use a power screwdriver. I have arthritis in my hands, and I have a cordless power drill/screwdriver with 22 torque settings. Using the lowest setting VERY slowly I was successful--but you do this at your own risk. My hands are too weak on their own.
Some of the screws are nearly impossible to set, even with the power tool, because the holes are not drilled deep enough. The parts list distinguishes between the two slightly different crossbars called 2 and 2(i). It fails to distinguish between the differences in the two crossbars numbered 3: the one with two grooves should be called 3(i). Get a rubber mallet and also an old towel as a cushion to use under each crossbar when you find that you must hammer in the pins.
The other caution is not to tighten the eight bolts that hold the side panels to the cross bars. Insufficient instructions! You should tighten the bottom four well enough to allow you to insert the casters and set the partly assembled cart upright on the floor. The upper four should be less tight. They illustrate putting both the base and mid panels in place at the same time before inserting the casters. Don't do it. Put the base panel in and also the bottom back panel, then tighten the bottom bolts enough to hold the base panel in place. Then the casters go in (rubber mallet help here) and the cart can stand up.
You now may even need to loosen the upper cross bar (the one to which you have already attached the door magnets). Being able to rotate this crossbar a good bit is ESSENTIAL to getting the doors on. Otherwise, you'll never have the clearance to get the hinges in place.
Re-orient the upper crossbar and tighten the bolts enough to hold the doors in place. Insert the mid panel and the upper back panel. NOW tighten all eight bolts to final position. The two side panels of the have an UP and a DOWN (look at the hole spacing) that is not labeled anywhere! Put the drawer together carefully because you must get all the screws lined up with their predrilled holes. Don't tighten any screws until all of them have been properly started. The knife rack is just a little slit between the edge of the top and the outside of the box you attach.
The main problem and the weakest link in this assembly is attaching the top. You have to align holes on the UNDER side of the top with holes in the support bars (that you attached to the side panels way back in the beginning), then set screws from BENEATH the support bars up into the top. But the drawer guides are in your way--I had no choice but to take them off. AND, there is simply not enough working room to screw in the rear screws all the way. You cannot leave any of the four screws sticking out because they will prevent the drawer from going onto its glides and and/or from pushing all the way in. I had to go buy shorter screws--none that I had on hand was the right size. Catskill Craftsmen really need to rethink how this assembly works!!!!I bought this cart because Catskill makes some really nice hardwood carts and this one was inexpensive. The site is not explicit that this cart is not hardwood, it is fiberboard laminated with a white material. The site said it is a lacquer finish but that implies a painted finish, not a laminate. The top is wood. The rest is not.
That said, it is a very well made sturdy cart. I only cried once when putting it together.

So, after a grueling early evening of tennis, I sat myself down to assemble this 63 lb flat pack cart, anticipating a multihour ordeal as per some of the previous reviews. All in all, took maybe outside of an hour, and the instructions were fairly clear. If you've put together one flatpack item, you've put together them all. Shipping was a breeze, and it arrived mostly intact, with just some of the interior styrofoam lining broken. All pieces were wrapped in foam wrap and arrived in excellent condition, each piece numbered. So, as any good assembler & follower of instructions, I unpacked everything and laid it all out, counted the pieces, and got to assembling. The only problem I could see with the instructions is some of the pieces need to be oriented in a specific direction that is of the two number whatevers, one of them is meant to be mounted on the right, and one on the left. THIS IS WHY YOU DO NOT TIGHTEN THINGS UNTIL FULLY ASSEMBLED.
Attaching the top was also kind of awkward, as if you're using a power drill, you'll need an extended bit, or number 18, the bottom guide of the drawer will get in the way. Problem solved by removing #18 (which they tell you to install in the first step), attaching the top, and then re-attaching 18. Easy peasy.
Everything seems solidly assembled when complete, the unit is a bit smaller than I anticipated (SHOULD HAVE MEASURED), but it fits well in our space and is a great value. Two of the coasters lock, and I accidentally installed them on opposite corners, but no big deal there any way you install two locking coasters of 4, its going to stay in place.
One warning I would give is that I don't think the drop leaf is meant to support someone leaning on it, eg a breakfast bar type situation. The supports that extend out from underneath the top are galvanized steel, and very securely held in place, but I still have my apprehensions.

This was exactly what we were looking for. Sturdy, small enough to fit in our space, with a drop leaf for a breakfast bar or more serving/prep space. It works well. Although we will not be using the knife block due to a 9 month old in the house and on the floor!
However, the assembly instructions were terrible and unclear. One would have thought this would happen from something manufactured in a different country not one in the good ol' US of A. And when I mean awful, it took my mom (since I was watching the baby) hours yes that is right hours to put this together and she is a pretty savvy woman, usually has no problem with assembling baby items (if you have kids you know what hell that is) and other flatpac furniture! The diagrams were unclear and it took several trials to figure what parts went where when we were assembling the cart.
I would encourage the company have someone they pull off the street who is completely unassociated with them and has no engineering degree or carpentry experience assemble this and make notes where they need more detailed drawings or clarification to make this a less painful experience. It wasn't as hard as expected since we read all of the reviews. The key was to install part #18 (drawer slide) after the top is installed. After laying all the parts on the rug, and digging out a cross-point screw driver and my own allen wrenches it on lt took us 1.5 hours....and that's two of us doing it "without disagreement or in-depth discussion." Just need to use a little logic and vision while assembeling. If you rely purely on the picture instructions it may take longer ....I don't know. But without the instructions the assembly would have taken much longer I believe.
Chicago Cutlery Fusion 2-Piece Knife Set (Parer/Partoku)
I love Chicago Cutlery, and this set is no exception. The knives are light weight, but they are well balanced. The blades stay sharp a long time between sharpenings. The handles really allow for gripping without slipping.I'm even thinking of buying a second set!I had purchased the Fusion Partoku knife seperately for my own use. I loved it so much that I purchased this set for my daughter for Christmas. The balance and texture of the handle is perfect for all those who have come to my house and used it. The blade retains its sharp edge wonderfully. I wash and dry it religously and replace it in a plastic sheath before storage. My only complaint is that Chicago Cutlery seems to have ceased manufacturing these so I would buy them as soon as possible, if you can find them. My son was disappointed that he didn't get one as well. I also purchased a Fusion Santoku knife for her larger items. She is very proud of them.

out of all of my cutting boards i have, i love this one the most. it is a decent size. not too oversized, but just big enough for cutting up all types of vegetables and fruits. the thickness of it makes it easy to stand and dry on its own (which should always be done so a cutting board doesn't warp). not only is the board unique in the sense that it is two-tone, but it is also pretty difficult to stain. i have been using it for a while now and it still looks very good and i cut a lot. i recently purchased another one as a gift because i know the quality of it. there has been no splintering of the bamboo, no cracks yet, and no deep knife marks even with all of my mincing. i know i should use an oil to preserve it, but i haven't since i bought it two years ago and i am still impressed by the durability of it. for 25 bucks, i would definitely buy it again. thanks cc.Not really too much you can say about a big ol' slab of wood, but I guess it's worth mentioning that I chose this board because it's visually appealing. It's snazzy, well-made and looks nice in my kitchen! If I had to find any cons to it, I guess it'd be that board is that is is incredibly large and rather heavy, but I knew what I was getting into with the dimensions clearly stated! Ultimately I satisfied with this purchase, it has held up well (no flaking or water damage) and looks nice! :)Buy Chicago Cutlery 16-inch by 12-inch by 1-inch Woodworks Bamboo Two Tone with Hook Now
It is fairly large and sturdy and cleans up well. Gives you enough space to cut and put items to the side on the board while you move on to the next item.I haven't seen the cutting board, which I bought for my sister and her family, as they're moving to Kuwait. The real benefit for me was that the seller ships to APO addresses. This was part of a $1,000 order to outfit their new kitchen abroad.Want Chicago Cutlery 16-inch by 12-inch by 1-inch Woodworks Bamboo Two Tone with Hook Discount?

This is an ok knife set. The block that comes with it is cheaply made. The slots for the steak knives are too close together so the handles (which are a tacky rubber) rub against one another, so you may accidentally pull out two knives when only trying to take one out. The bread knife is too serrated to the point where you destroy bread as opposed to cutting through it. They seem to hold an edge farily well for the price, and I like the size of the french knife. I've come to the realization that a knife set like this is really unnecessary for me personally. I'd rather buy the knives I need. This was a 10th Anniversary gift for work, so I'm glad I have it and thank work for it. It should last awhile if I keep them sharp (and safe).I've had my set for many years. Other than the knife block having knicks from missed insertions, each and every knife is as good as it was since I got the set. Had them professionally sharpened for the first time last year.I've only ever hand washed them, as instructed.

Kitchen Aid used to be a brand name you could depend on to mean "quality". I think my mixer will last 100 years. Unfortunately, this knife set is not one of their better products. The knives are supposedly made from stainless steel, but if so it is very low grade, because these knives rust!!! Even running them through the dishwasher leaves little rust spots on them. I'm very disappointed by this purchase.Read Best Reviews of Kitchenaid 14-PC Fine Edge Forged Cutlery Set with Bonus Here
I can't say I have the same complaints as some of the other reviewers. The knife set is solid, and they knives are well balanced. I agree that the wood block isn't stellar, but it's not bad, and the knives don't crowd one another.Maybe they've changed the set over time, but my handles aren't rubber, I'd say they're a ceramic composite. Hard to the touch and smooth.
The knives are all quite sharp, and I haven't had any issues with dulling yet, though I've only had it for 4 months. Time will tell if they also rust like other users report, however I would hazard a guess that some user's issues with rust are due to running the knives through the dishwasher. It says on the box, and in the description online that the dishwasher is not recommended to clean the knives, which is common for any higher quality cookware.
Everyone will have their own expectations, but personally I find myself happy with the set, and variety of knives provided.

I received this set as a gift for Christmas. I use some of them, don't really use others... I take care of them as per the instructions that came with them. I mean, they are knives so it's not rocket science, right???Well, they are all rusting! The knives and the scissors. This is not a cheap set of knives and the blades are all rusting. I can't believe my eyes and it's embarrassing because when I have my mother over, she wonders why I'm not using them... Thinks her money went to waste but I don't want to embarrass her further by making her think she bought an inferior product. In the process now of trying to get a replacement to a completely different set because an entire set cannot be simply defective and must be poorly made. Wish I could get a refund and buy a completely different brand.
I'd give it zero stars if that were an option. Don't waste your money.
