Hand Crafted Hard Wood Magnetic Knife Rack, 18" Maple, Wall Mounted

Hand Crafted Hard Wood Magnetic Knife Rack, 18' Maple, Wall MountedWe bought very expansive, and very nice knives, so we decided to display them in our kitchen but it was not easy to find the best way. Most commercial knife racks are made of metal which is really bad for the knives and the few wooden once we found seemed to be too expansive for what they were. With this rack, I would say , we found the perfect combination: very nice looking, solid wood and most important not dangerous for the blade! :) In a sentence: we are really happy with this product!

Johnson Rose Offset Spatula, 8 1/4 inch Overall Length -- 1 each.

Johnson Rose Offset Spatula, 8 1/4 inch Overall Length -- 1 each.I was looking for the Wilton offset spatula, but only found this one, so I bought it. The metal blade is very flimsy. You have to have a light, fluffy frosting if you want to spread it easily with this knife. Good for glazes, too. The Wilton knife I had was at least 3 times as thick in the blade...darn kid lost it somewhere, ugh.

I will continue the search for the Wilton.

It's great for frosting cupcake and cookies. You need a bigger one for most cakes, like a 13 inch. It's very easy to use and fun to lick the frosting off.

Love the spatula. I am looking into getting another one that is larger. Use it all the time. It came before they said it would too.

We usually use Ateco spatulas at the bakery, but decided to try this brand. It's a little thinner and a touch shorter than the Ateco spatula, but in some ways, that could be an good thing.

Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1This is the best silverware I've used. It even stands up to the "eating-out-of-the-carton-of-hard-ice-cream" test without bending. We have had 8 place settings for 9 years and they still look like new (except the one that went down the disposal).

Juilliard is the best patten for both casual and fine dinning. It never goes out of style and it matches so well with any decor. It is the price point it is for a reason...worth every penny you pay! Beautiful and great, great quality! I have had this pattern for over 20 years and I just keep adding to it and you can't tell the new pieces from the ones I started with years ago. Unbelievable value!

I appreciate the simple elegance of the Juilliard design. It is not too ornate and not too plain, rather, just the right amount of decorative flair. Too, the utensils feel balanced and of a comfortable weight. I purchased the one set to begin with because I wanted to see how I liked the design before buying the four set. I am very pleased with this product and recommend it highly.

This pattern is great for both casual and formal dinners...it is timeless. It will look as wonderful in fifty years from now as it does today and I love the shiny finish. This is truly a classic! Thank you Oneida.

I am so glad they still have this pattern. I have had it over 20 years and need some more pieces to replace some that have disappeared over the years. They still look amazing. Nice balance in your hand.

"Spatula City", Similar to Remington? Shavers. Anyway, it's a great product that should give years of Food Service usage.

Yoshihiro Cutlery Hammered Damascus Petty Chef Knife, 5-Inch

Yoshihiro Cutlery Hammered Damascus Petty Chef Knife, 5-InchSpending almost a month doing research on Amazon's wide selection of kitchen cutlery, I'm so glad I ignored the previous 3 star review on this knife and bought it on a hunch. I think this is AWESOME value for such a great knife. Out of the box, it showed no mercy prepping onions, garlic cloves, mushrooms, carrots and celery with buttery precision. Also, I really love the taper design of these Asian petty knives as it allows me to speed up at the tip for smaller veggies. I think this knife actually looks better in person than the picture as the blade's almost chrome-like finish mingled with the damascus swirls is a testament to the fine finishing craftsmanship of the blade. If you need a small prep knife, THIS IS IT!

Wanted to buy a real Japanese kitchen knife. Really glad that I bought this one from Yoshihiro Cutlery. The craftsman ship and beauity is stunning. The wood handle on the full tang that extends from the hammered damascus blade, has so much depth that no photo can show the full detail. As for cutting, the blade is the smoothest and sharpest that I've ever used. Service was the best, shipped, solidly packed-so arrived in perfect condition. My score is a 5+ as every aspect of this transaction was flawless.

Out of the box, this is the sharpest knife I have ever owned. Feels great in the hand. Light. Works wonders. Made me order another from the same seller who included a $10 off coupon with this knife. Better than any of my 4 Shun knives.

I just received this product today. The seller was also very quick with their service.

I haven't been able to play with it long, but here are my first impressions:

1. It's well built. No noticeable edges or gaps. The handle feels good. The blade looked good. It looks like like the picture. So, it's obviously a western style handle.

2. The blade is crazy sharp. I only cut carrots so far, but it was pretty effortless. It came with a great edge. I didn't need to fix it.

3. Price is great. I mean, Shun gets all the love, but seriously look at the prices between the two brands for Hammered Damascus VG-10 steel. I actually work in a lab, so if it will fit, I may just get the blade tested in the SEM to verify the material. ;)

I can't wait to cook more things with it. I'm honestly just looking for excuses to use it. I'll update more later after a week or two of use.

11/12/12 Update. Just was cooking chicken breast in the pan and I had to butterfly the chicken breast to cook it all the way through. This knife cut it like butter. I never have used a knife that cut so well. I applied almost no pressure. Very easy to control the cut.

Picnic Time Wine Country Tote with Cheese Service and Corkscrew

Picnic Time Wine Country Tote with Cheese Service and CorkscrewI got this as a wedding gift. We use it all the time. It easily fits two bottles of wine, snacks and comes with a board and knife for cheeses. We use it more often for road trips to hold all of our snacks and a couple of bottles of wine to enjoy once we reach our destination. The only thing I would change about the bag is the long strap for carrying. It connects at both ends on the front of the bag. If you have two bottles of wine in the bag it evens out but if you don't it feels like you are going to dump your contents without an extra hand on the bag for stabilization. It's not a big deal but I would have liked it better if the strap was on each side of the bag not just the front side. Other then that the quality is great and we will continue to us it often.

Jamie Lynn Silver Stacked Hearts Knife and Server Set

Jamie Lynn Silver Stacked Hearts Knife and Server SetThese are just perfect for our Big Day,arrived quick, packed well and I am very happy.I also brought the matching champaign flutes wich together look amazing.

1. They are not "Silver" (except in color) as stated in the description or title, they are "Silver Plated" (which is what you would expect for these sets especially at this price.

2. The ones they shipped me were not secure in the packaging and when arrived were not in their separate placeholders so rubbing against each other.

3. The knife was slightly bent near the handle (and appeared to be rebent to look straight. I was able to fix it though and straighten it out correctly.

4. they looked used. The packaging was very beat up and as stated they weren't in there correctly in the first place.

5. But I couldn't find any scratches on the product so will probably keep because very nice looking set. Plan to add some ribbon to the base to really make them unique.

Wusthof Culinar 6-Inch Carving Fork

Wusthof Culinar 6-Inch Carving ForkI have used three carving forks over the past 30 years. This one is by far the best I have used. It replaced a carving fork from Wusthof's classic line the line that set the standard for kitchen cutlery for a century, until Wusthof introduced the Culinar line. The Wusthof classic fork had in turn replaced a stainless steel fork from another German manufacturer.

I originally wanted this Culinar fork to match my Culinar knives, even though I figured the match would just be a matter of looks rather than functionality. I was wrong. The difference between this fork and other carving forks is even bigger than for the knives.

Perhaps the biggest difference is in the handle. The handle of most carving forks does not fill an average to large size hand. This allows the fork to move a bit even with a firm grip, limiting how well one can hold the roast still. That's only a minor inconvenience for a sirloin or tenderloin roast where one is making vertical slices against the carving board, but can be major annoyance with a larger rib roast or a whole turkey, where some cuts are made horizontally or at other angles.

The handle of this Culinar fork allows a much surer grip, making it a breeze to carve. That's true whether you have large or small hands, thanks to the taper of the handle. The butt end of the handle is quite beefy, but even a toddler can get a sure grip by grasping the narrow end of the handle just below the neck. While the stainless steel of the handle looks smooth, the brushed surface actually makes it less slippery than even composite and wood handles.

This fork has other advantages as well. The tines are straight, making them much easier to place out of the way of the knife, even with more complex cuts. The fork is slightly flattened, allowing parallel slices to be made closer to the tines, as well as reducing the loss of juices while carving. And while the overall length of the fork, at 11 inches (28 cm), is the same as for the equivalent classic Wusthof fork, the tines are a bit longer at about 5 inches (12 cm), permitting better handling of larger roasts. (The "6 inch" measurement in the description includes the length of both tines and neck.)

My wife got me this fork for Chistmas from my wish list, and after carving Christmas dinner with it, I never want to use another carving fork again. If you know someone who regularly makes roasts or who you would like to make roasts get them this fork. Or get it for yourself, if you enjoy cooking. You will not regret it!

This Wusthof Culinar 6" meat fork does an excellent job of holding meat and poultry in place so that they can be carved. Although this fork is a little on the expensive side, I find that it is stronger and sharper than cheaper forks such as the Calphalon meat fork. Compared with similar stainless handled forks by Global and Henckels, this one has a more comfortable grip, and the two piece construction really is not a disadvantage. The Henckels felt too slippery, and I really find the Global handles to be very uncomfortable in my hand. The Culinar fork also has the right amount of heft, and the best balance of these three that I have tested.

While this may be too expensive for those on a budget, I have to rate this fork five stars since it is clearly the best in its class.

Let me tell you folks, when my late husband received this fork as a gift from one of his clients, my first thought was, "Return it and let's get the cash!". Luckily we kept it around long enugh to realize what an asset it is to our kitchen. This fork has two prongs which is perfect for any job you would want it for. Our cook, Frances, just loves it, and refuses to carve with anything else. In fact, I just bought him one for his own family for Christmas! What can I say, I know how to treat my staff!

Zoom Infant Feeding Spoon

Zoom Infant Feeding SpoonThe shape of this spoon was perfect for our 16 month old because it was oval and fit into her mouth easily. So many baby spoons are very round and either way shallow or way deep and they bump the edges of baby's mouth and the food falls off, etc. This was perfectly oval and was just deep enough to have a nice-sized bite (but not so deep that baby's lips didn't clear the food off).

Unfortunately, it only receives 2 stars because the spoon handle became discolored after only 2 weeks of use. It started with a small spot and spread all over the spoon's handle within a week. Although the spoon says it's dish-washer safe, I hand washed mine every time, so I know it got good care.

I gift wrapped this spoon for my sons 1st birthdate because he loves to unwrap things. He got lots of wonderful toys, but kept reaching for the spoon. I finally had to hide it to get him to open hs other presents.

Gordon Ramsay Chef Knives Maze 6 Piece Knife Set

Gordon Ramsay Chef Knives Maze 6 Piece Knife SetI wanted to add a bit of info, since the description is pretty sparse.

The blades are all "European" (I am guessing German) X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, which is a good quality steel, a little softer than the Japanese steels but easier to maintain. It is used on other quality knives like Messermeister. The handles are either a polymer or a resin. I haven't had a chance to use all the blades yet, but so far they all seem to be sharp, decently balanced, and well put together. On mine, the polymer-to-metal fit is seamless on all the knives. While the steel used may be European, the knives themselves are made in China. I don't think that is too uncommon for high-value knives, as I have one J.A. Henckels International knife that is the same, but it is worth noting, especially if comparing to premium brands made in Germany (Wusthof, Messermeister, etc.) or Japan (Shun, Global, MAC, etc.).

The knives have a full bolster, which can help with balance, but requires a bit more maintenance than a partial bolster, since the bolster itself will need filed down over time to maintain balance. The knives have a flat, steel pommel, which is nice for crushing a bulb of garlic or the like.

One notable weak point is the honing steel. It is a flattened oval rather than round, and it has an extremely course grit which looks to be diamond coated. The grit is so aggressive, I'd never let a decent knife touch it, since it could easily destroy the edge in a few passes. Even in the best case it would be removing a ton of metal, which is not what you want to do when honing. Last off, on mine, the fit of its "blade" to the grip (unlike the knives, it isn't a single piece of steel) is less than perfect.

All in all, a pretty decent set, as long as you don't pay too much. They are nicer than the J.A. Henckels International knives, but you still don't want to pay too much more than for a similar J.A. Henckels Premio set--after all made in China is still made in China. RD recently had these on sale for 75% off. If you are looking at 65-75% off (~20-25 usd per knife), these seem like a good way to get a versatile set made from quality steel. Save a bit out for a new honing steel though.

*ADDENDUM*

For those just starting out on a collection, you may wish to consider a MAC Original chef's knife and paring knife. The two knives you will be using 95% of the time will be top quality, and only cost around 85 usd together. Really top quality, but not so expensive that you cannot replace them if a mistake happens as you learn to sharpen and care for them. Early on, those knives are where the focus should go. If you already have some nice blades like that, or are planning to get some, this set really shines as a compliment, as it is a decent way to round out the odds and ends like a bread knife, utility knife, etc., made out of good steel, without spending a fortune.

Faberware Annatto Satin 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8

Faberware Annatto Satin 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8I thought, because of the low price, this flatware set would not be of very good quality, but fine for everyday use. I was pleasantly surprised that this set not only exceeded my expectations, but the care and upkeep is fabulous. Does not water-stain at all in the dishwasher,(we have extremely hard water) and the set is also quite heavy. It doesn't bend and is quite sturdy. I highly recommend this set and would buy it again.

There is not much that needs to be said about this set. They look good, are comfortable in the hand and are very durable. Unlike some cheaper sets, there are no machining errors on these such as unfinished sharp edges on spoons or nicks and pitting. I bought these to replace my old set of Faberware, which had lasted years. However, they had met the sink disposable many times and needed replacing mainly from issues like that, not from a manufacturer defect. I would have no problem recommending these to someone.

For the money, this set is just okay. It isn't as heavy as I was anticipating, actually a little flimsy. They look really nice, but just don't feel particularly durable.

Want Faberware Annatto Satin 45-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 8 Discount?

You get what you pay for. This set gives you a service for 8 at a cheaper price than a lot of services for 4. I fell for the bargain and while it "serves" the purpose ... it's definitely as cheap in quality as the price would indicate. The bands at the head of the stem are not particularly well defined; the difference between the "brushed" handles and the regular shiny tines, bowls, knife edges above the bands isn't very distinct. The pieces don't have a lot of heft to them but I wouldn't say they were flimsy either. They seem to be fine going through the dishwasher (even with hard water). Simply put ... this flatware does the job but they don't really impress.

I love this set. I can put some cheese and crackers and veggies on it, and put it in the fridge for my son, and he has a nice snack all ready for him. Plus, since I can serve it up ahead of time, he doesn't leave my cheeses unwrapped in the fridge to dry out when he serves himself off the main wheel. It's saved me cheese, and a certain amount of frustration.

Chef's Choice 310 Compact Diamond Hone Sharpener

Chef's Choice 310 Compact Diamond Hone SharpenerIf you're anything like us, you probably spent a lot of money on your knives a while back but secretly ask yourself "why did I bother?" because they just don't special anymore. That's because they've never been as sharp as when you bought them something this gizmo can DEFINITELY change.

This is a superb knife sharpener Cooks Magazine rated the Chefs Choice absolutely the best electric model. It puts the kind of edge on your old knives that makes you realize you'd forgotten the true meaning of "sharp".

There's only one flaw in their basic model, though. If your knives have gotten very dull, or you want to be a hero once in a while and put a better-than-new edge on a friend's knives, buy the model 110 instead. That model adds a heavier "grinder" blade (seen on the far left of sharpener in the picture) that can take off more metal quicly while creating the basic, third bevel on their "trizor" edge. Once you have that 3-beveled edge, touch-ups with the lighter grinding wheels seem to keep the knife sharp indefinitely.

You never need this more than once for all but the most neglected knife, but when you do it's nice to have. I've used it to sharpen a cheap fish fileting knife we bought while camping that turned out to be so thick and dull you could barely cut cheese. Now you could shave with it...

Even though I normally use a diamond sharpening block and know how to check the angles of the bevel, I have to admit, this device is quick and easy.

It gives an acceptable edge as long as you use it according to directions. It is convenient, as it can sit on your counter or be pulled out of the cupboard in a jiffy. So you tend to keep your knives sharp. The problem with hand sharpening is that it is finicky work that takes time. This is faster and easier, so you tend to do it oftener.

A sharp knife is actually a safer knife as it cuts easily. If you force a dull knife, it can slip and make a nasty cut. (The worst cut I ever saw was with a knife too dull to cut wax. It had no edge, but made a nasty, torn gash. The user was forcing the dull edge through wax and got injured.) So keep your knives sharp and in a block and use them with respect. This sharpener will certainly help you do that.

Buy Chef's Choice 310 Compact Diamond Hone Sharpener Now

I have been sharpening knives for over 45 years and this is the fastest, easiest way to get an excellent multi-angle edge on ALL of your knives. I orginally purchased a Model 300 about 12 years ago. The 310 is much better because it sharpens all of the way to the handle, a big issue with small blade pocket knives.

If you like sharp knives and either do not have the skill or the time to do it by hand get yourself one of these.

I have had this sharpener for several years and am quite satisfied with it. When you sharpen your knives for the first time, it takes many repetitions with both wheels, but you get a very sharp edge. After "setting up" your knives with the first sharpening, you'll find it fairly easy and quick to resharpen every few months. I'd recommend it if you want to get good sharp edges but don't want to spend the extra $ for the top of the line sharpeners.

Dexter-Russell V-LO 9-Inch Carbon Steel Scalloped Offset Sandwich Knife

Dexter-Russell V-LO 9-Inch Carbon Steel Scalloped Offset Sandwich KnifeI bought this knife almost 2 years ago at a commercial kitchen store, based on a salesman's recommendation-he actually steered me AWAY from the >$100 name brand knives and told me that this brand is well-known in kitchens for its durability and performance.

The V-lo handle with a soft nubby texture is quite comfortable, and the raised position for the sandwich knife allows you to slice bread all the way through quickly and easily without banging your knuckles. I also appreciate that the handle is non-slip when your hands are wet (less of a concern for this bread knife, but definitely helpful with my santoku and paring knife).

I bought a few other Dexter Russell knives and am extremely pleased with the brand's performance. The knife is light but well-balanced, making it easy to leverage. The blade is still sharp (I use the sandwich knife about every other week for crusty french bread, and more often on softer breads) and the handle is intact with no peeling or separation of the different parts.

If I ever need to replace this knife, I'll be going back and getting the exact same one. Well worth my money.

I am in charge of the galley of an ocean going ship (Chief Steward) this is my third one of the same kind. By far it is the single most used knife in the galley. Easy for those with limited knife skills as well as seasoned profesionals. We use one that is 3 years old to cut thick heavy rope and line. The new one is excellent for slicing paper thin fresh bread, tomatoes, and hot meatloaf. The blade can be sharpened and will give 1-2 years of hard everyday use in a production kitchen or galley. The handle is better than others of simliar construction. Can be sanitized in a 180 degree commercial machine day after day. The blade is a no stain type steel so it always looks good too.

I am a professional chef. I have Wustofs, shuns, and henckles in my kit. This offset serrated knife is the only knife I use. It is easily the sharpest knife in any kitchen and can do anything. I wouldn't suggest breaking down a beef tenderloin with it, but cutting vegetables, fruit, and bread, look no further. I get about a years worth of heavy duty use out of this knife, pass it on to someone else in the kitchen, and buy myself a new one. No need to ever worry about sharpening. No need to stress out if you drop it on the floor. You can go a long way with just this knife.

Side note, if you have read Anthony Bourdains "Kitchen Confidential," he advocates using an offset serrated knife the same way I do (more likely vice versa).

New Pourfect 27Pc Bowl And Measuring Set Break-Out Gull Wings Dripless Spout Bowl Pivot Channel

27Pc Bowl & Measuring SetPOURfect IS A MUST HAVE!

I purchased my POURfect set months ago from another website and just love it. I use it everyday and to the point that I just keep it on my counter. You'll find many, many other uses for these bowls, measuring spoons and measuring cups other than measuring.

I really like all the additional measuring sizes like the 2 cup or 1 1/2 cup or the pinch (1/16), drop (1/64), dash (1/8) and smidgen (1/32) included with the spoons. The measuring spoons and cups are even marked in braille! They all nest neatly together. I keep the measuring cups inside the bowls. The only downside to the measuring spoons is that there are sizes that don't fit inside my spice jars but that is not a big deal.

I also like how you have to pick up the bowls too. You palm the bowls with the "handle" over the top of your hand. It really gives you better control of the bowl and I would bet this feature would be helpful to someone with arthritis. No drips with the bowls either. I use them when making pancakes or pouring batter into cupcake pans. I did make the mistake of using my hand mixer with one of my bowls at it scratched the inside but I'm sure a wire whisk would be fine.

This set featured also has many more pieces than I got with mine and I'm jealous plus the price is terrific!

I really think the POURfect is a must in any kitchen and a great gift for a new bride (or groom).

You won't be sorry that you made this purchase!
