Trudeau Stainless Steel Grapefruit 5-Piece Set, Yellow

Trudeau Stainless Steel Grapefruit 5-Piece Set, YellowThe knife is terrific. One end has two parallel blades, serrated and sharp, with a small gap in between. You position this over a radial membrane to quickly and easily separate the grapefruit from both sides of the membrane. After zipping down each membrane, you can efficiently slide the knife's curved other end around the circumference of the grapefruit. Voila!

The spoons are nothing special. They're OK, but don't win any style points.

This would earn five stars if the spoons were nicer than diner-quality.

Grapefruit knives and spoons are very difficult to find. Amazon helped me find them, and the company they suggested fulfilled the order just as they said they would. The spoons and knife are of good quality, and the knife especially makes grapefruit easier to cut and eat. I would recommend this set for purchase. It is a good value for the money.

Sharp utensils, well balanced. I really enjoyed the length of the spoons. Will eat more grapefruits from now. Like the yellow color. Amazon has many choices for battle with grapefruits. Bought two, one for Chicago, the other for Sunny Isles Beach in Florida. Niam, niam, niam, goooood.

This set was made poorly. The spoons and the knife have a raw metal edge that has not been finished, was made cheaply and poorly. We could not use the spoons as they gave a strong metallic taste in your mouth. At first I thought the design of the knife was smart, but found that although the curved side of the knife works well for cutting around the edge of the grapefruit, the straight side of the knife, meant for cutting sections, is actually a double knife and it ends up massacring the grapefruit. I actually cut off one of the double knives and now it works ok.

we had to throw out the spoons, the knife also has a raw metal edge that catches and does not cut cleanly or smoothly. Not worth the purchase!

The spoons work very well and are solid. The knife is great but the spoons can be used well even without the knife.

Ginkgo Naples 20-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 4

Ginkgo Naples 20-Piece Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 4This flatware is really a fine bargain. It has the look and feel of a more expensive set of flatware (There is usually some trouble figuring this out from photos). They are not flimsy at all. The pattern is simple and contemporary and they are also very well-balanced. They are just slightly larger than standard flatware which is a feature I like, i.e. the tablespoon ladle seems to be slightly larger than the ones I've been using. I was afraid they might be too shiny and although they have a nice bright luster it is just slightly muted so they don't have the tacky look of cheapo flatware. It does have "China" stamped into the metal near the bottom of the knife blade by the handle. It doesn't bother me at all but make sure it doesn't bother you before buying.

Just beautiful! Can't find silverware like this in the stores for this price. Very elegant and will definitely last for many years without scratching or ever bending. Beautiful shine and a nice weight. The knife can also be used as "steak knife" as the edge is slightly serrated and very sharp. GREAT VALUE and superb quality!!!!

It is now February,2013 and my Flatware is still like new. . The inside of the spoons and the sides of the knives don't have any scratches and still shine with a mirror image. It's really amazing!

The Naples pattern is well balanced, a pleasure to eat with, comfortable to hold. It feels substantial, not like the fork tines will bend if you press down hard. I recommend the Naples pattern, and expect similar high quality with other Ginkgo patterns.

I didn't notice it is 18/0 stainless steel .... and in a matter of a month ( I purchased two sets ) they were discolouring and getting dark spots ... really a shame ... I wouldda paid a bit more for a better quality product of this design. I will say return was mega simple I first ask to exchange, and when I got the new pieces they were flawed as well, I re-opened a chat and in a few minutes a I had a return slip and credit and different brand of flatware on the way

How disappointing. They are solid, nice weight and seemingly flawless finish BUT we bought two sets for Christmas and found imperfections throughout. Unfinished metal, blemishes and areas that are painted/coated evenly. No problem, they sent us a new set. Problem solved. WRONG! After putting them thru the dishwasher a few times they are showing signs of RUST!

We are contacting the seller for a full refund

Very disappointed because these are identical to the ones at Williams Sonoma we'd been pining for.

Guess the saying is true: you get what you pay for

Fox Run Cheese Knife

Fox Run Cheese KnifeI bought this to go with a slate cheese board but the cheese board was broken sent it back and got a different sort of tray for this knife that was so awesome.

I am VERY pleased with this cheese knife, it is ideal for any kitchen duty. I recommend it for anyone that is tired of dull cutting knives.

I had a similar knife that I liked very well and wanted another. Most of those offered are way over priced. This blade was reasonable and does a great job on cheese and is also good for fruit.

Wasabi 6716N Black Nakiri Knife, 6-1/2-Inch

Wasabi 6716N Black Nakiri Knife, 6-1/2-InchJust to put it simply, we have a lot of knives from a very wide price range.

This is the knife I ALWAYS grab for general usage. I prefer it to knives we have that cost 10x as much.

Thin blade, perfect shape and light weight.

NOT a chopper, not a heavy knife for butchery, but a great general usage veggie knife for the price.

I used this knife professionally for 3 years until I lost it recently and I am buying another! I've seen it crash to the floor during many busy dinner rushes and it never took any damage (strength of a Global without the cost). The nakiri style is great for tight spaces or cramped cutting boards (its hard to stab yourself with it! :) Two other people I work with both bought this knife after using mine. Also, the handle is great for either hand and I like its antimicrobial properties.

Buy Wasabi 6716N Black Nakiri Knife, 6-1/2-Inch Now

A very economical nakiri. Out of the box it wasn't very sharp. One section of the blade was sharp enough to cut a tomato well, but the rest was not, very inconsistent. For the money though it works pretty well and feels ok in the hand. In general, if you can, save up and buy a real Shun or similar higher quality product. Ultimately value is better.

This knife is my perfect veggie prep knife. I've been going through different styles (santoku, nakiri, Chinese cleavers, etc.) and have always had some beef with the various designs. Whether too small, too dull, too wide or just not comfortable, this knife beats them all.

First, it's long enough. I have a nakiri that's an inch shorter and the Wasabi is perfect. It's also wide enough. A smaller blade is usually skinnier too and I love the width of the Wasabi. Not too wide as Chinese cleavers can be (though I still use a cleaver for large, rough cuts for veggie prep). Lastly, this blade is nice and sharp. It glides through every chunk of veg I have thrown at it.

Fit and finish is awesome and I really enjoy how it feels in the hand. I'll definitely be purchasing other varieties of the Wasabi line in the future. It's the perfect balance of features for the money that I have seen. I highly recommend.

Want Wasabi 6716N Black Nakiri Knife, 6-1/2-Inch Discount?

this is a very sharp knife. Used for first time to cut romaine and bitter melon. Almost no effort to cut cleanly and easily. Knife itself has more of the weight in the blade than the handle, not as "balanced" as other knives but in this case, it serves its' purpose very well. Sort of reminds me of the Chinese Cleaver that I used when I was a kid helping out cutting meat and vegetables, just not as heavy. Never tried this brand before. If the product line is this consistant, I would buy these. Have been using, and still love Henckels twin but those knives are pretty pricey. I will update should the this knife become dull or developes a problem, which I am not anticipating.

Wusthof Classic 7-piece Slim Knife Block Set

Wusthof Classic 7-piece Slim Knife Block SetI focussed on this maker after seeing it featured (and highly rated) on the Crate and Barrell website.

We wanted to get some really good quality knives, but didn't want one of those ridiculously massive, monumental wooden blocks which is the range of options you typically find when looking at knife sets. This setup is perfect without overdoing it. Has all the key pieces we want, without including a bunch of pieces we'll never use.

Beyond the set, we liked this model because it wasn't the cheapest (those looked pretty rickety), and it is also not the ridiculously high-end professional model either. Just right. Extremely well made and will probably last a lifetime. We're completely happy.

Wusthof Gourmet 5-1/2-Inch Tomato Knife

Wusthof Gourmet 5-1/2-Inch Tomato KnifeI recently found a replacement on Amazon.com for my 10 yr old overused and often re-sharpened Wusthof Gourmet tomato knife. I was amazed at the low price of $29 when this knife in retail stores has been on sale for $55 or $60. Now I know why. The blade itself is the same as the original blade, but the handle is just a groved piece of plastic or composite with rivets holding the flat blade in place-the same a any other cheap knife found at discount stores. I think I bought a $29 knife for $29not the great deal I thought it was and it doesn't exactly match the handles of my "Classic" Wusthhof knife set. But I'm certainly not sending it back. It works really well, just like the original one-just a little more cheaply made.

I know it seems excessive to buy an entire knife just for tomatoes ... but it's gotten to the point where I buy tomatoes JUST to be able to use this knife I love it so much. It slices through the fruit's skin as effortlessly as through softened butter, while other knives (even my other razor sharp Wusthof ones) just bruise and squish the fruit. Definitely worth the cost. I just bought a second one as a gift!

Buy Wusthof Gourmet 5-1/2-Inch Tomato Knife Now

Have had this knife for a while now and have to say that for slicing tomatoes and other veggies like cukes etc this knife cannot be beat. It is the right knife for that task. You can slice a tomato paper thin to beefstake thick and the slices are perfect and clean everytime! The only negative comment I have is that the handle (as on all newer gourmet series knives from Wusthof) seems to be more light-weight and somewhat cheaper. Not that this ruins the performance of the knife...it is more an esthetic / ergonomic thing. Thus four stars instead of five. I hand wash all of my good knives so it will never see the dishwasher so i doubt the handle will ever become an issue.

Bought this for my daughter, she loves it. Easy to handle, excellent for slicing tomatoes.

A1 quality! Anybody who wants a gourmet tomato slicer, this is the one.

Want Wusthof Gourmet 5-1/2-Inch Tomato Knife Discount?

This knife allows you to thinly slice delicate fruits and vegetables without tearing. I can achieve a near paper thin slice of tomato with it, which makes this worth every penny to me.

This is a high-end home or semi-pro grade knife. It's stamped instead of forged, which cut some of the costs between this and the high end Classic series. For me that is not a problem due to the nature of the knife. Had I been in the market for a chef's knife I would have spent the extra money and purchased a forged knife. I will say that this one holds a razor sharp edge as well as some forged knives that I own.

It is also missing the bolster that forged knives have, so it does not have the balance of a high-end knife, but for what it was designed to do that is not necessary. It's light, easy to use and the handle provides a nice, no slip gripping surface.

I love the way this knife holds its edge. Some of that is due to the serrated blade, but it's also because the quality of the steel used for the blade is the same quality that the forged models use. In fact I need to insert a caution: you need to be careful when using and cleaning this knife because the blade is extremely sharp. Make sure you store this in a block or roll too because this is not a knife you want loose in a drawer it can inflict a nasty cut if you accidentally grab it by the wrong end while rummaging through a drawer.

One final note: this, like all serrated blade knives, is designed to be used in a pulling motion in order to obtain the thin slices as well as safety when you are holding a tomato while cutting. The reason I mention this is because I've had guests who have assisted me in cooking use this knife with a pushing motion and it does not perform nearly as well.

This is a quality knife that should last a lifetime if you properly care for it. On the stamped vs. forged issue, I personally do not think there is a difference when it comes to some specialty knives like this one.

OXO SoftWorks Can Opener

OXO SoftWorks Can OpenerAfter going through a bunch of not-much-cheaper can openers we gave in and bought this one. My mom has had hers for years and it still works perfectly.

An electric can opener is great ... when you have electricity, if the blade is not dull, if it does not chew the label, if it handles tall and fat cans without splatter. This opener handles everything and turns with ease. I have been ignoring the electric monster in favor of this smooth operator.

Buy OXO SoftWorks Can Opener Now

This manual can opener works wonderfully on small and gallon sized cans. I ruined my electirc can opener using it on gallon sized cans. This doesn't slip out of your hand or off the can. After ordering and trying it out, I ordered two more for my twins.

Read Best Reviews of OXO SoftWorks Can Opener Here

I got this can opener hoping to save money and space over an electric. For the first year or two this one worked perfectly, and I didn't at all miss having an electric opener. It did the job well and was comfortable on my hands. But I started having trouble after a couple of years, and at the 3 1/2 year mark, it needs to be replaced. It's getting a little rusty and hard to use; now I can open a can with some effort but have a lot of trouble prying it open again to take it off the can. I risk spilling the contents of the can. Also, the handles are coming a bit loose so that water seeps down into them, gets gross, and occasionally squishes out when I try to push them back in place.

Granted, these issues may have been avoided if I didn't wash the can opener, or washed it much less often. But it seems to me a can opener needs to be washed when the juice from the can gets on the blade. (On the other hand, you can't throw an electric one in the dishwasher at all, which presents another issue.) So take your chances. If you're willing to handwash and meticulously dry, go without washing much, or know you just need an opener occasionally or for a couple years, this may be great for you.

Want OXO SoftWorks Can Opener Discount?

Well, maybe it is because I have used so many crappy openers in the past (my fault for being a cheap-o), but I am just overwhelmed at how effortlessly this gadget works. I could not believe how easy and cleanly it opened the first can I used it on.

A real WINNER!.....just hope it holds up.

BOSKA Holland Monaco Slate Cheese Board

Boska Holland Monaco Collection Slate Cheese Board, 13 Inch by 4.5 InchI ordered two of these to serve cheese at a party I hosted for a business event. When my wife first saw them, she exclaimed, "Ooh, we have to keep those!"

The boards are better looking than is evident in the photo here. They are also quite heavy -thick, sturdy slate, with the dimensions as indicated. Besides the appearance, they worked well to serve the cheese -it held up nicely and looked good all evening at the party.

The boards did not scratch from the cheese knives as far as I could tell. I've also dishwashed them a few times now and they held up well.

Two cautions I'd suggest: first, only use cheese knives and dull blades on them. Using them as a cutting board (e.g., with a chef's knife) will likely harm you, the knife, and the board. Second, the edges are slightly sharp in places with the randomly scalloped edge. Nothing serious there, and it improves their looks, but you don't want to run exposed skin along the edge.

For the price ($18 when we ordered) they exceeded our expectation. Recommended.

I was a tad leery of this cheese slate since, at the time of my purchase, over 50% of the published reviews were solicited by the manufacturer. Whereas I ultimately trust my fellow reviewers to be unbiased even when receiving a free item for consideration, I also appreciate the delight in discovering a surprisingly well reviewed product not promoted by the maker.

However, skeptics should know Vine reviewers aren't whistlin' Dixie with their positive feedback. This dainty-sized slate is ideal for cheese for 2! And it's priced right too. Score!!

I'm a cheese addict but I'm also a cheese GARNISH addict. Most restaurants serve their cheese plates on, well, a board or large plate--a single dedicated spot to offer both cheese and all the accompanying goodies. However, if you're greedy like me and don't skimp on the raisins, olives, capers, grapes, and other equally pesky round cheese companions, you'll discover that a single large board isn't terribly practical for serving a significant amount of garnish--especially if you dine al fresco. Unless you use individual cups or lettuce beds, etc., everything rolls off, runs together, looks messy, or is impossible to safely transport.

So I decided to find a small cheese board and let the cheese be a star on its own; I take a less rustic approach and serve the garnish separately on a bamboo 3-tier tray.

Slate is ideal for keeping cheese at a sustained cool temperature, can be marked w/soap stone if you desire to label each type, and, well, looks darn cool. This board, like most slate, must be handled somewhat delicately as slate can chip or shatter. But mine arrived perfectly intact and the literally 'rough around the edges' organic design looks fantastic.

Although it is dishwasher safe, I prefer to wipe it down with a steaming hot washcloth and a diluted solution of whatever bacteria-killing cleanser I have on hand.

There's covered feet on the piece but they're not raised significantly so the board sits flush on a table. The listed measurements are accurate. The slate quality is superb and appropriately thick. Other brands' cheese slates looked a little thin & brittle. I think the slate on this piece is even less compromised due to the handy compact size.

The board is the ideal size for serving 4-5 different cheeses, two small blocks of each. I use 3.5" bamboo paddle skewers (available here on Amazon) and prefer these as ad hoc cheese markers over using soapstone. Additionally, for a really cool presentation, paired with Nortitake's "Colorwave 6 1/2 inch Mini Quad Plates" in 'Graphite', also sold here on Amazon, you'll have appetizer plates that match the cheese slate practically perfectly. I see Boska Holland makes a matching coaster should you go the wine route.

If you're after a small slate that lets the cheese do the talking, it's hard to find any reason not to recommend this. Lightweight but sturdy, super cool looking, inexpensive, AND kind to cheese? Check, check, check and check!

Great board for the price. Nice size for 3-4 types of cheese, easy to clean and good quality. My only complaint is that it did soak up a bit of the oil from the cheese and I couldn't get it off. Not that big of a deal, I guess it just gives it more character. Will definitely buy another if I'm having a bigger gathering.

I received this from Culture/Boska to review. Slate always makes a beautiful rustic presentation for cheese. I love the look. The board has small feet on it that raises it just 1/8 inch or so off surfaces so it is easy to pick up and does not scratch anything. Because it is slate you can write on the board. My only objection at first was the size, it is small but then I realized the are other sizes available this is perfect for small single cheese or a few pieces with some quince paste, nuts, etc. my husband and I have used it at dinner putting a few small pieces on it for our cheese course or for a snack in mid afternoon. So really it is the perfect size for that......

KitchenAid Box Grater

KitchenAid KG300 Box Grater, Empire RedI have to give this grater only 4 stars due to a design flaw. More on that later, but first, the good news:

-The main reason I was so happy to find this greater is that the two main grating surfaces are COARSE and MEDIUM, not COARSE and FINE like virtually every other grater in the world. Why not more MEDIUM graters? I don't know. All I know is that I prefer to use a medium grater for most everything, and this is one of the very, very few MEDIUM graters (there's also one known as "the Greater Grater", which is pretty cool but is not as sturdy as this one and falls apart too easily.)

-Yes, it's big. My other box grater fits comfortably *inside* this one. Which makes storing the two together rather convenient, actually. Anyway, a bigger grater means more grated cheese more quickly, right? I like the size just fine, but don't expect to stick it in the back of your silverware drawer...

-Seems built like a tank. I'm sure it will last a long time.

-The Empire Red color is really cool. If you don't get the red grater, you're missing out.

-Yes, the rubber rim on the bottom *would* collect junk and be hard to clean, if I hadn't ripped it off and thrown it away immediately. Who needs it? The handle on the top is so big and sturdy, it's not like it's difficult to hold the grater in place or something... unless you like to grate cheese on top of greased glass?!?!

-Can't comment on the tupperware catch-bin that comes with it. Seems fine, but I don't really use it as that's not how I operate.

Now for the bad news: On the first trip through the dishwasher, the tubular handle became filled with water. This water did not drain easily at all, in fact it's pretty much impossible to get out; however, just enough leaks out that you'll get grungy dishwater dripping into your grated cheese if you let it. Yuck!

However, the problem was easily rectified by two minutes with a power drill -I just drilled a small 3/8" hole in each end of the plastic frame that's holding the handle in place. Now the water drains out just fine.

However, this is a phenomenally stupid design oversight on KitchenAid's part. Didn't they even test thing thing after a trip through the dishwasher? The handle could get water trapped in it even with hand-washing, I suppose, unless you were extraordinarily careful.

So, I would not advise you to get this grater unless you have a drill and some drill bits and don't mind making a slight modification to it after you receive it. Once the modification is complete, it's truly a great grater.

This is an attractive and easy to use box grater. Love the container which goes with it (under and in the grater for storage) for storing cheese, etc. The container sits under the grater when in use and also serves as a knuckle saver, as it raises the grater surfaces about 3 inches off the countertop.

Buy KitchenAid Box Grater Now

The tupperware-like container that you can stick onto the bottom of the grater to store grated cheese, zest, etc. is a good idea, but the hard plastic is very brittle and an edge broke off just from the pressure of grating some cheese on the grater. It's a sharp edge, I might add. The container still functions, but it's dangerous.

My second complaint is that there's a somewhat flimsy rubber piece that goes around the bottom of the grater, which fills up with cheese, vegetable pieces, or whatever else you've been grating, and after only putting it through the dishwasher 2 or 3 times I noticed how all the gunk in there had gotten REALLY gross. Luckily it comes off easily and I just rinsed it off, but I'm not a fan of things like that, which just make this thing more of a pain to clean. I'd like to find a grater that looks this nice and works this well but doesn't have an issue like this.

This thing would be worth 5 stars if it weren't for the strange plastic ring around the bottom and the easily-broken plastic storage container that it comes with.

Read Best Reviews of KitchenAid Box Grater Here

This is just a great grater! High quality materials, has not rusted, and the plastic container fits perfectly on the bottom to collect the shavings. Comes thru dishwasher nicely. I couldn't wait to trash my piece-of-junk rusted grater for this one.

Want KitchenAid Box Grater Discount?

This grater looks great and works really well. I'm a big fan of the containter that fits in the bottom to collect whatever it is that you're grating!

However, due to a couple of issues, I will most likey not be keeping it.

The rubber piece at the base of the grater collects cheese/veggies, etc. I have to remove the piece entirely after every use to clean it and it can be somewhat tricky to get back on.

I ran this through the dishwasher one time, when it came out, the handle was full of water, even though the item is supposed to be dishwasher safe. Most of the water drained out, but I don't like the idea of old water being left in the handle.

CulinHome Melrose Collection 8-Inch Chef's Knife

CulinHome Melrose Collection 8-Inch Chef's KnifeI like this knife, but it only stayed sharp for maybe a few weeks of constant use and then had to be sharpened. other then that, nice and heavy, sleek look, great grip, but you will need to invest in a knife sharpener.

The rest of my knife set is cheap junk, but I couldn't stand for the primary Chef's knife, which accounts for about 85% of my kitchen knife usage, to be so junky. I replaced my set's knife with the CulinHome Melrose Collection 8-Inch Chef's Knife, and couldn't be happier.

I've gotta say this item is severely underrated, and perhaps that's because at its current price point it is targeted towards those who want a cheapy knife that they can toss into the dishwasher. No good knife is going to be completely dishwasher safe. This knife is somewhat in-between, meaning you can let it sit with water on it for several minutes without worry, but still needs care and really shouldn't be tossed in a dishwasher (although it is pretty cheap, so you decide if the convenience is worth it).

The knife easily, and most importantly, cleanly cuts through most objects thrown at it. My previous knife had a terrible habit of not cutting through bell pepper completely, meaning just a tiny bit of skin would be attached, which meant when dicing I would have to go back and manually pull pieces apart. This goes through bell peppers with ease, but that's not really too hard a task. Carrots, squash, zucchini, it cuts cleanly and easily. The only thing I can think of that even gave resistance was a whole raw potato, but it still went through pretty easy and cleanly, just felt like it was cutting through a sticky substance. It cuts neatly through meat and poultry.

The knife also does not hold an edge very well, but it does in fact sharpen very well provided you have the right tool; I recommend the AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener.

The solid body is a pro and a con. The pro is the easy clean; with how sloppy I am preparing raw chicken, I couldn't imagine having a wood handle again. There's also not really any area for the knife to "break" at; if anything, the tip would chip off, but I couldn't imagine a way for the handle to break. The largest con happens to be it can be slippery. I've never had it slip, and at least it is ergonomically designed so you can grip it, but I could see if you didn't have a strong firm grip and your hand was wet, this could easily slip.

Not getting too specific or scientific with exact measurements, I can say that this performs at a class above its price point, but not at a professional level. Because of this, I can say the knife is a great addition to amateur and home chefs, as it makes cooking far easier and more enjoyable, so long as you don't run it in the dishwasher, remember to clean and wipe off after use, and purchase a good knife sharpener.

I am not a chef. I am a regular Mom who cooks for her family. I love this knife. It's beautiful and has a good weight, not too heavy. The packaging says it's "made from surgical grade stainless steel..." It's "smooth and seamless design with no joints and gaps will prevent bacteria growth." I recommend it.

Update: I took off one star because it's acquired some rust stains. I wash it usually in the dish washer.

I like the aesthetics of the knife, it has a wickedly sharp edge, and it's comfortable to use. However, the balance is off, for me too blade-heavy to become my everyday knife. Still a nice value, and I definitely do use it often, if not all the time.

I never get tired of looking at them!

They withstand dishwasher pretty well. I have Waterford flatware for 2~3 years and they are all scratched up really bad compared with Federal Platinum.

They are elegant, have great balance, and can be used for daily dining as well as for formal dining. Highly recommended!

Have owned this set for 7 years and it has held up very well. Classic design that has coordinated well with different sets of everyday and formal china.

I have been using Lenox Federal Platinum flatware for more than ten years. The first set I got 10 years ago is still in great shape. They do not scratch easily so I can put them in dishwasher without worrying about damaging them.

They are beautiful, well-balanced, and feel great to my lips and fingers.

Wusthof 4013E Emerilware 3 inch Paring Knife

Wusthof 4013E Emerilware 3 inch Paring KnifeI bought these as I used to have a set of Emerilware Wusthof knives that I adored! My fav was the 3" paring knife which I just now chipped after 8 yrs. So I bought these... I am sooo unhappy with them, although through no fault of the seller. What I got was cheap, flimsy knives with plastic handles. Since the handles are plastic I can not see how far the tine goes, but I am positive it is not all the way through. The blades, while sharp as all NEW knives are sharp, are extremely thin and can easily be bent. Not happy at all, but this was what I ordered, so I will keep them... but I would never recommend these knives!

I had one of Emeril's paring knifes and found myself reaching for this knife first. I was determined to have a backup knife available since utensils seem to disappear from my kitchen. I was thrilled to find the exact knife on Amazon. Love it, Love it. Comfortable grip and sharpens up beautifully.

These are the best knives of any kind I have boughten. They are very sharp (be careful) and cut everything so easy. The black handles are so nice because I can put them in the dishwasher and they do not discolor like the all silver ones do. They are also very easy to sharpen. I recommend these knives to anyone who likes a sharp knife.

This set of Rada Cutlery was a Christmas gift from my husband. The knives are very sharp, so be careful! These knives are of very high quality, yet they aren't very expensive. I love it that they are made here in the US! Also, it is nice that they are dishwasher safe. If you are looking for a good quality cutlery set that is affordable, you will not go wrong with these

I absolutely loved my set of knives, They are extremely sharp and retain that same sharpness cut after cut after use....... the only problem I have seen with them is you CAN NOT toss them into the dishwasher along with everything else, you have to be extremely careful and handwash these kn ves or they will turn a blackish dirty color. In order to retain the nice stainless color and shine you have to use a brillo pad if you mistakenly wash in the dishwasher, other then that these are the best knives ever even for the price! I would definitely recommend them for personal use or as a gift!!

My entire life I've never heard my mother rave about cutlery like she does with Rada. She's used this brand for as long as I can remember and I got her both this set and the Paring knife set for Christmas and she loves them.

I'm personally more of a baker and don't find myself using knives as often as she does but you can tell they're far better than 95% of the ones you buy at any other store out there. They feel like they're professional quality without the price tag and I'd recommend them to anyone (though I personally prefer the black handles, the aluminum ones feel strange to me!!)

Mundial Solid Wood KB-23 Series 23-Slot Knife Storage Block

Mundial Solid Wood KB-23 Series 23-Slot Knife Storage BlockThis was one of the cheapest knife blocks, for the size, that I could find and it is wonderful. Well made looks nice and really accomodates the knifes that I have.

I have quite a collection of Wusthof knives which would not all fit in the block I had, and some were stored in drawers making it inconvenient so I purchased this knife block because it has 23 slots and I thought that would solve my knife storage situation.

When I opened the box I was not pleased that the block was not wrapped properly and somewhere during shipping it had received a nasty blow to the edge leaving a dent and splinters.

After contacting Amazon a replacement was sent out, and yes, the same situation, it also arrived damaged.

Before sending the second one back I decided to see how well the knives would fit in the block and again I was disappointed. Most notably, the clever slot was not wide enough to accommodate, as was the case with most of the slots. In addition, the edges of the slots were poorly done and had very rough edges. The block itself had a nice finish but overall it appeared to be a low quality block.

I sent both blocks back then purchased a 25 slot block by Wusthof. The price was much higher but so is the quality. It has a lovely finish, smooth edges and everything including the clever fits beautifully.

I would not recommend the Mundial KB-23 block, especially if your knives are by Wusthof

We tried to buy other blocks to hold our mundial steak knives and none fit. So we had to get the Mundial brand. I love it, it is very large and holds a ton of knives.

If you dont have alot of counter space, wait until you get a new house. If you are thinking of getting a knock off block for your Mundial's dont bother, they dont work.

Mundial 5100 Series 6-Inch Boning Knife, Black

Mundial 5100 Series 6-Inch Boning Knife, BlackMundial 5100-series knives aren't the least expensive of the forged knive brands, but they seem to have a leg up on the Chinese-made brands for steel and construction quality ... and they don't cost that much more. This boning knife is one model where better steel makes a real difference. It will take a razor sharp edge that holds up quite well, even when you scrape bone. If there is a complaint, it would be that the handle is a bit on the small side for a male chef's hand.

When attempting to bone a chicken or trim a roast without a decent boning knife I often ended up with sliced fingers and a less than ideal end product. I decided to shell out the money and buy the Mundial 5100 Series 6-Inch Boning Knife. With the money needed to buy comparable fancy brand name knives you could probably buy a used car, so I found the price of the Mundial 5100 very attractive. The knife has exceeded my expectations. It has kept its sharpness, even after a couple of months of heavy use. All I have to do is a little honing before using it. I do recommend washing it by hand and drying it promptly to avoid stains. With a little care this knife will last for a long time.

I home cook for my two Great Pyrenees dogs, so I have to cut up about 20 pounds of meat a week. With this knife, it makes the job effortless. I am very pleased with the craftsmanship and feel of this knife. It's been used now for some time and has retained its sharpness. I can hardily recommend this knife.

My 4th Mundial knife and I was not disappointed. I own some über expensive knives but don't use a boning knife often enough to drop a ton of dough on one. Works beautifully. Great value

Madesmart 2 by 15-1/2 by 6-1/2-Inch Butcher Knife Drawer OrganizerI like this. Much cheaper than a wooden block, and if you don't have many knives, it's very nice. A little too much wasted space if all your knives are short, and very wide knives stick out just a bit.
