i purchased this chopping block and used it for less than a month and already started cracking (picture enclosed). we had purchased two other Boos but they have been great for over three years.

This product is quite expensive for its size. Yet, the quality just doesn't justify the price.

I got this on Jan 3, 2013. It's a little heavier than I expected, but overall it felt solid, and I was happy with the purchase. I used it for only three weeks nothing heavy duty, and I applied the board moisturizer that came with it weekly. However, I noticed a crack yesterday (will upload picture later).

Initially I was upset, and submitted a request to return the board. But then I thought the better of it, since this already dealt with food, I might just keep it. But anybody who is considering getting an end grain chopping board, skip this one. It's not worth the money.

I've owned this 18 inch Boos round maple chopping block for about two weeks and so far I'm very pleased. First off, it is beautiful to look at. You can tell by the weight of this item it is designed for real use. I've had several other wooden cutting boards. They have split early on in use. This board came oiled but I did purchase the board butter to keep it moisturized. If you are going to invest in this piece you need to keep it oiled. Its also important if you will be using it to chop or cut meat to seal the wood from bacteria. I love using this. Somehow the round shape, while large and spacious to use while chopping, seems less bulky than the square boards. Like another owner said, you can hear the quality of this board while you are chopping. I own mostly Wusthof knives and they work fabulously w new board. I have moisturized it 3 times but I do use it heavily. I do not feel I got ripped off at all. You get what you pay for. Do not hesitate to buy if you own nice knives you want to keep nice. Just a word of advice to new board owners, do read the care instructions. How you care for this item determines how it will wear.

My wife gave me the John Boos 12x12x3 End Grain Maple Chopping Block for Christmas 2012. The block has a very nice size, heft, and stability. It is a delight to cut on. The recessed side grips are very convenient. I applied John Boos Board Cream to the block that evening. However, small gaps between the little blocks making up the whole chopping block began appearing almost the next day. I purchased a 5-oz tube of John Boos Board Cream with Beeswax and gave the chopping block several applications of it over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, the separations between the little blocks did not close up, and some new gaps opened up. I live in a very dry climate, and winter is the driest season. However, the chopping block should be better constructed so that the little blocks do not separate (especially after only a day).

Jean Dubost 3-Piece Cheese Knives Set in Box, Ivory

I love tasting and serving cheeses paired with wines, so I've accumulated a number of cheese sets. I love the Jean Dubost Laguiole sets so much that this just became my third set.

All are different in color and set composition, but all do share the classic Laguiole look and feel that distinguish these serving tools from all others. I love the balance, for I also love the fact that these come with a coverless, wood storage box that keeps the set together in drawers. The box also protects from inadvertently cutting yourself when reaching into a drawer for a loose knife. That is a big plus because the knife in this set is extremely sharp, and the fork tines can also do damage.

What drew me to this particular set is the color. Most of my serving plates, dishes and whatnot are white porcelain. While the ivory color on the handles in this set are a shade darker, they still fit into the visual serving scheme. Frankly I do not care for the gold accents, but that is a personal issue others may love that touch so much that it's the sole reason for purchasing them. But I do love the overall look, and especially the traditional design of each utensil in the set.

One other reason I personally love this set is the utensils that comprise it. The presentation knife is a common design for cheese knives, but this one is versatile enough to cut through most cheeses ranging from hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano to softer ones like brie. The spreader is a great addition because once a soft cheese like brie is sliced, the spreader is ideal for evenly spreading it over a piece of baguette or a cracker. Frankly I rarely use the fork that comes with the set, but it would be a perfect utensil for serving dry sausage like salami or even marinated vegetables like roasted peppers or artichoke hearts.

This is a high quality set that is as functional as it is beautiful. I am sure it will not be my last Jean Dubost Laguiole set, but it may remain my favorite among them.

Henckels Twin Gourmet 6 inch Cleaver

Bought this to complete and compliment the J.A. Henkels 21 piece Twin Pro S set I bought. This is one serious piece of cutlery. the weight is going to make cutting through anything in it's path easy. Wilton Decorate Smart Small Cake Leveler

When I first tried to use this product I was very disappointed. The metal string in the middle broke off while i was adjusting it. I wished the ends were more durable! Then when i went to walmart i noticed there was the same product for $3.

I read the poor reviews regarding the wire/cutter breaking but thought I'd take a chance on this tool because if I could make it work and hold up it would be incredibly accurate and a great time saver.When my wife and I removed the tool from the box to inspect it I started to pull on the tab on one end of the wire in order to adjust it to a higher level. Almost immediately I realized a great deal of pressure would be needed to get the needed slack to move the wire to a upper notch and also this was the wrong way to adjust it and additionally was why folks were breaking the wire.

The best way we found to adjust it was to place a damp dish cloth at the front edge of the counter to prevent slipping, point the open end of the "U" shaped tool toward the rear of the of the counter and hold it exactly vertical, rest the bottom leg on the counter and in about an inch and then press down on the top leg this will give the necessary slack to adjust the wire without straining the connections.I find it impossible to understand why these instructions were not included either in or on the box a diagram and a few words certainly seen necessary and would be much easier to understand than what I have written here.

We also found the best way to cut through the cake way to use a sawing motion with short strokes.

With the use of this tool I cannot imagine a professional doing any better [cannot get better than perfect].

Ok I didn't buy this to cut lettuce. I bought it because the blade is safe for non-stick surfaces. I bake brownies in a non-stick pan and am forever getting frustrated trying to get them out without marring the surface of the pan.

That's the sole purpose for this knife for me. My non-stick cooking pans are metal utensil safe and I buy lettuce already cut up.

The balance on this is great and the handle is a terrific shape i have arthritis so handle shapes are an issue and this is easy to hold but Good Grips usually are.

Been thru the dishwasher several times and it looks new. I was worried about the plastic blade breaking but so far so good!

So, I bought this for our commercial kitchen since we now offer salads. I was very excited to get this in. I told everyone how our salads were going to last longer because of the plastic knife.

Well, that's all crap. I did a test where I cut up part of a lettuce head with a metal knife and this plastic knife. Guess what...the both turned brown at the same rate, 2-3 days. What a joke. Don't bother with this, it is all hype.

Bella Cucina 17-Pc Rocket Blending System 10029

I have been looking for a blender/food processor/blending system that could hold up to the ingredients I put in my smoothies, and this one works like a charm, even when my ingredients include big chunks of nectarines or walnut halves. All of my smoothies have come out smooth, not chunky, and this is even replacing my Cuisinart mini-prep as go-to kitchen appliance of choice.

Other things I love about this blender:

There's a locking mechanism that allows you to set it to blend and walk away.

With the multiple blending cups, I never have to worry about having a clean one handy. I wash the blades by hand, but put the cups and lids in the top rack of the dishwasher.

A screw-on cap is included, so I can take my smoothies with me if I don't have time to drink it at home.

Finally, my smoothie recipe (which I now consume every morning):

1 peach or nectarine, in big chunks

handful of fresh blueberries, if available (otherwise, frozen)

handful of fresh raspberries

1/3 c. lowfat cottage cheese

1/3 c. plain lowfat yogurt

5-10 walnut halves

Blend.

When you get this item for less than half the price of a Magic Bullet, I was tempted to buy this Overall it is a good blender and does pretty much most of the things which a Magic bullet can do, but my only disappointment is that it is not built well, here are some details:

Plus:

* Does the job well, but not as good as the Magic bullet. something which would take 1 minute on the Magic bullet would probably take about 1.5 minutes

* Poorly platic quality on the mixer jars The jars have lost their shape to a slight degree after a few times in the dishwasher can't these guys put some decent plastic in their jars ?

* Poor quality gaskets and sealing There is a small rubber gasket (sealant) which seals the blender jar and the blade the gasket is so poorly designed and build that it sometimes leaks and spills liquids into the blender, sometimes drops off into the contents of the blender

Overall, my suggestion is that if you are planning to use this to make some quick smoothies & shakes go ahead and buy this at $17 it is worth every dollar, no need to pay $60 for a Magic bullet.

But if you are planning some heavy kitchen work stay away from this blender you will have to trash this in a 2-3 months.

~ Update: 12/30/2007 ~

If you are planning to buy this blender: I just saw that the price on this item was $59.99 (offered by Macys) it is a ripoff by macys. Try looking elsewhere on the net for prices around $20-$25, or hopefully amazon will offer this directly as better prices.

We received this as a Christmas present 10 months ago and we've used it almost daily since. In that time, the only problem has been a gasket on one of the blending heads coming off. This thing cleans itself very easily: just put in some water and a bit of soap and let it run for a minute. It's fast, it can make small batches, and it cleans easy.

I am a knife fanatic. The only knife I have in the kitchen that is better than this is a hand made Japanese chef's knife, which I prize. I bought Shun Knives that looked promising, felt good in the hand, were fantastically sharp but would develop mico chips in the blade. I do not mistreat my knives in any way. I figured they were too brittle....such a shame. I reground the paring knife to a less thin edge and it is OK. These Ergo knives have a completely different feel. I can imagine a professional chef appreciating them for their ease of chopping etc. The Sanduko does not stick as some others do . I like the contoured handle in the Guy Fieri line but alas they do not have the very sharp point as in the 6 inch version. A knife which tapers to a very sharp point has advantages to a drop point. But enough for now, for the price this is probably a life time knife if you know about knife care otherwise Victorinox is a good buy.

I bought this knife but for more money with a 30 day Money back guarantee and it was worth every penny. I will have it for life. It's light weight & rocks nicely through foods. I have a smaller hand and it's a perfect handle size and very comfortable. Love it!

Wusthof Knife Edge Guard - Slicer/Utility

I really have to wonder about the review that says the Wusthof Blade Guard falls off the knife. Certainly not my experience! It slides easily onto my Dexter-Russell Chinese Cleaver (8" x 3 1/4), stays put, doesn't scratch the knife thanks to the velvet lining, protects the edge from damage, and avoids accidental cuts when rummaging in the drawer where I keep the cleaver. What more could anyone expect from this product?

I purchased this blade guard for my electric fillet knife blades. I had trouble keeping the blades loose, it was hard to take the knife on trips because they would cut through bags and keeping them loose dulled the blades. Now I can transport the blades safely and they stay sharp. The guards are tight and do not slip off, I would recommend these blade guards to anyone.

There doesn't seem to be a middle ground.

I like Rada as they are nearly indestructable. Since I abuse my cutlery by throwing it in a drawer and washing it in the dishwasher, ease of sharpening and steeling to straighten abused edges is most important. The balance of the knife is good enough so that you don't really notice the knife--it is not flimsy or cheap. I don't have a need to impress anyone, I just want a comfortable knife to use.

I am not crazy about the feel of the handle on this knife but it cuts great! It feels kind of light and hollow at the handle--maybe I'm used to a heavier handle BUT it slices and cuts as well or better than any knife I've had. I've used it on all types of fruits and veggies and even a cake with hard fondant icing and it made quick clean cuts.

It comes with three so I don't have to wash between proteins, veggies, and strong tasting items like onions or jalapeños; just grab a new one! Several reviewers commented on its flexibility, I found it to be appropriate for a cutting board. I don't really want it to be too flimsy, which it's not, but it gives enough to neatly dump its contents.

After using these chopping trays for about a month, I've decided that I like them well enough to order another set in the future.

They are roomy enough to handle any cutting or chopping job that I've had, and the rim is low enough that it doesn't impede your knife hand, while being high enough to corral stray bits of whatever is being cut.

The only drawback I've discovered is that they do show the scratches and incisions caused by the knives. Careful washing in soap and hot water, preferably with a brush, is in order. It would be great to have these made of some "self-healing" material.

Hi, I am pleased with this board. It's a little too big for my limited counter space and not as flexible as I'd like. Would have liked the overall size. They are great gifts.

I was looking for something like this to take the cut up pieces and parts from the counter and move them to the pot on the stove in some easy way. This is the answer. And, for a small price, you get THREE of them. I think that they could be a tad better if they were to bend easier, but that may not be possible to do. Regardless of the minor bending issue, these took care of my problem and I'm very happy with them. Use them constantly. No longer dropping pieces on the floor in transit.

I've used various cutting boards over time, and I have a bunch of plain flat ones that I always use to protect my counter tops, but these cutting boards (chopping trays) are best for vegetables, fruits or meats that might create a mess.
