Old River Road 3-Piece Cheese Knife Set

These work so well with the Old River Road Cheese Knives! I love them, my guests love them and they're easy to wash up and hand dry. Bought another set for my sister!

The only issue I had was that these were packaged in a cheap, flimsy box something like you'd see in a bulk shipment not in a nice presentation box as you often see cheese knife sets in stores. The look is perfect for the person on my Christmas list, and she did love them. I purchased a nice Christmas tin to present them in and pretty them up a bit.

Unique and artsy serving set with reasonable quality. I ordered 2 sets as gifts. Do not get these gift wrapped; one set arrived with the fork and two of the serving pieces, but no knife. I wouldn't have known if i had had them gift wrapped. Plus they will present better if I wrap them in a nicer box and not in platic bags (great for shipping, but not for presenting). The handles are beautiful but the stainless areas had some pitting and other minor flaws. I did chose to have the set that was sent incomplete replaced though because overall I haven't found any set as interesting for the price.

Global G-11 Yanagi Sashimi Knife, 10-Inch

I bought this knife only because I had a gift card and have a discount at a certain culinary-related store for being in the industry. Needless to say, it's a rather good yanagi, but just rather good.

It's definitely overpriced at $108+ since the steel (56-58rc), while still being harder than German (52-56rc) knives, is still softer than some other stainless yanagi (60rc) at the same price. Ok, you can get carbon steel, but some of us don't want to maintain one. It's even harder to maintain one when you're a cook whose job is not just to cut fish, but a variety of things all day. Another thing I'll mark this knife down for is that it doesn't have a continuous hollow ground back like most yanagi, but you can just wet the blade with a damp cloth to keep fish from sticking.

DO NOT USE A STEEL ON THIS KNIFE OR ANY SINGLE BEVEL KNIVES. This knife should only be sharpened on a high grit waterstone (6000+) and do not sharpen it only on one side as that'll weaken the edge. Even the box says sharpening it at 70/30, but 80/20 should be fine so long as you're only cutting fish.

If I had to pay full price for this knife, I'll have to give it 3/5 stars because although it's a softer steel and doesn't have a hollow ground back, it's stainless, requires extremely low maintenance for a yanagi, and it's more sanitary than an unsealed Japanese wood handle.

I have 5 slicers: 3 double edge slicers (Mac, Shun, Henckels) and 2 single edge (this one and a cheapy Kai Wasabi). This one is by far the best knife for slicing seafood. It is well balanced and has the sharpest blade. It has good weight that along with it's edge makes slicing the densest seafood (like Conch) easy. Many reviewers have commented on the handle's tendency to be slippery. I totally disagree. Traditional Japanese knives are designed to be pulled, not pushed. The handle is designed to be anchored by wrapping the index finger around the top of the handle. This is secure even with oily hands as long as you pull through the cut. You must use the knife the way it was designed, it is not a western styled knife. Also, this knife is one of the few Yanagi that doesn't have the traditional Japanese handle. I dislike traditional Japanese handles because they tend to unbalance the knife and make it blade heavy. To me this knife is the best since it offers single edge sharpness and a full tang-like handle. And it is very affordable compared to other Japanese Yanagi's. Can't recommend it more.

Victorinox Swiss Classic 15-Piece Cutlery Block Set

We just bought a new Airstream RV trailer to do road trips and rather than use old knives in the trailer, this was a great excuse to buy this set from Victorinox because my favorite knife is a Victorinox 8" chef's knife. That knife was highly rated by Cook's magazine. When I first got it, I thought it looked cheap because of the plastic handle, but I was wrong. Having used it now for several years, I love it (and I have other knives from companies such as Henckels, Hoffritz and Wusthof.)

I love to cook and rely on good knives. This set has been excellent. Good balance in the hand, very sharp, and a nice variety of types of knives. I really liked having the steak knives in this set, too. (The steak knives are serrated.) The cutlery block holds everything well, and has a couple of extra slots. The only knife I really need to add to the set is a boning and/or filet knife.

I had looked at other Victorinox knife sets, but this was a perfect variety of knives for what I needed.

This is a fantastic knife set. The handles are a textured, durable, hard plastic that reminds me of my Glock. The edges are very sharp as expected. I've only had this set for a few months now but they've been performing well as you would expect. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because my personal preference is that of heavier forged knives. Don't let that discount this set they are fantastic and the price can't be beat.

But like I said it's really big. I know it says ten inches, and you think, 'A ten inch knife.' But ten inches is how long the blade is, the handle adds another six or seven inches, at least.

Oneida Sheraton 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1

The Sheraton stainless that was made in the USA is simply exquisite and easily rivals any sterling set and I would highly highly recommend those. However, I recently purchased service for 4 from Oneida through Amazon. Big disappointment. Although Oneida failed to mention where the flatware was made on their website, when it arrived a 1" bar code sticker affixed to back of the box stated in very tiny print "Made In Indonesia" and after examining the set I found serious flaws.

The beautiful detail of the Sheraton pattern was not evenly imprinted. There were areas on the knives, forks and spoons where the pattern actually became lighter and then invisible. I have never seen anything like this! In addition the Oneida mark was not done well at all. It was much too large and garish and actually interfered with the pattern even tho it was on the reverse side. The Oneida mark on the Made in USA set was very fine, subtle and tastefully done.

It is sad to see such a lack of quality control from a great company like Oneida. On the plus side, Oneida responded very sympathetically to my complaint and promised to send a postage free return label. So I give them 2 thumbs up for that. Also their customer service person Jennie was extremely courteous and accommodating. It is still possible to find Made in USA Sheraton that is new or like new in sets and/or pieces which I am happy to say I was able to do.

I've had the same 5 5-piece place settings for the last 12 years. Anytime we eat out or at other people's houses I always notice the difference. I'm 36 but with arthritis. The pieces have a good weight and rounded barrel, so they're fairly easy to hold. They're not heavy; they're not weightless. They are easy to care for, simple and elegant looking. I love this pattern!

My only complaint is that they're cold in the morning, but that's just because they're metal. LOL!

I bought some rubber coated flatware from IKEA about 4.5 years ago and they've literally fallen into pieces.

One day, I realized they are grown up, and I am still using mismatched, mystery flatware. Zyliss Carving Knife, 8-Inch, Green

I have always been a fan of Zyliss products, every since I purchased my first salad spinner from them many moons ago. They have yet to disappointment me, and that holds true for this great carving knife. Love the 8" size, which is kind of perfect and easy to manage. Love the grippy handle, it's really comfortable and easy to hold even when wet. Love the blade sleeve so I can safely keep it in a drawer. But what I love most, and the reason I am going with 5 stars is... this knife is sharp. Really sharp. When I was preparing salmon filets last night I was amazed that it sliced through the skin without hesitation. I received my Zyliss Carving 8" Green knife about a week ago and I use it almost daily (except the days I refuse to cook!!) It is one VERY sharp knife. I've used it from cutting chicken to chopping vegetables to slicing cooked meat to even cutting tomatoes. It seems to do the gamut of kitchen slicing needs. I love the green color and I still have all my fingers because of the great holder it comes in. I'm notorious for reaching into a drawer without looking and a couple of times my fingers have run along the edge of the knife holder. I would highly recommend this knife because it is efficient in it's design and fun in it's color.

The first thing about this knife that jumps out at me is the color. I LOVE the green. It goes perfectly with my kitchen I think this is soon to become my new favorite knife! WMF Manaos / Bistro Dinner Knife, Set of 4

I am very satisfied with having bought these instead of more of the cheaper junk I had been using. The blades are sharper than all of my other table knives, the whole piece looks nice, and they are actually clean when they come out of the dishwasher. It's all a solid piece with no stupid grooves or rough stamped-out edges to hang onto gross food.

Silverware is one of those things which I could never make myself pay much for, and I previously wouldn't pay more than about ten bucks for a full 4-person set of all items. But the cost of each individual piece of this WMF stuff isn't really that much. I don't know why the simple math went over my head before, but when you buy the really cheap stuff, you are only paying about half a dollar for each piece. No wonder the cheap stuff sucks.

I am very pleased that I purchased WMF Bistro forks, knives , spoons and teaspoons. Excellent quality, no need to dry them with a towel after the dishwasher. Very very shiny, with a clean design (the incrustations on the surface of some other expensive silverware make it so difficult to maintain it clean and good looking). WMF is an old company with a great reputation and I've always been pleased with the high quality of their products. The knives have printed WMF logo (with no taika or china). Also this Bistro edition silverware is much cheaper than any other WMF silverware set. I will definately get esspresso an desert sets.

These are great little knives and I am planning on adding many more RADA knives to our household. First. I was a bit confused about these knives. They are advertised as dishwasher safe. That is the ONLY reason I bought them. When I opened them it says you should hand wash them. I guess with all knives, the best practice is hand washing. Customer service said I could try them for a while and if I end up not liking them I can return them. Mac Knife Damascus Chef's Knife

I can't believe no one has reviewed about this knife. Its scary sharp outta the box, but it's hard steel will take and hold a steeper edge with ease, you just have to be sure to take care of your knives properly. But i don't honestly see anyone in their right mind spending this much on a knife and mistreating it. Anywho, the knife is a very beautiful, well made tool. You can spend hours just staring at it. The Damascus look is great, and does a very good job at hiding some scratches (in case u get is scratched). The balance is spot on, and the over sized handle is the best i've seen and felt, really. The pakawood is really beautiful. It's a knife with its own personality that (i bet) will last a life time. If it's in ur budget, buy it, its a no brainer. I own wusthof and global knives, the handling and looks of this Mac is head and shoulders above 'em. I still love my globals and wusthofs, don't get me wrong, but this is knife is in another league.
