Tuftop Country Morning Bluebirds Cutting Board

Tuftop Country Morning Bluebirds Cutting Board Size: MediumBought this for my wife as a Christmas present. She's a big Blue Bird fan. The picture is really nice. Clear and crisp colors. Good size for just about anything in kitchen.

One slightly negative comment. This has a "Super strong tempered glass" and it does. When chopping harder items, like carrots, the knife hits the glass after cutting through and makes a loud clicking noise everytime time it hits. I'm being picky, but the noise started to drive me crazy. Really nothing you can do about it. Different than cutting on wood or plastic, which absorbs the noise.

We like this so much we, I, can put up with the clicking noise.

I bought this flatware to go with my tropical decor and have had them for nearly two months. They're very attractive and I do put them in the dishwasher, however I'm cautious about using them daily because they don't feel super sturdy. I'm very happy with this set and receive compliments from guests.

My ex and I bought this less than 3 years ago at TJMaxx for about 20 bucks to go with our Florida/tropical decor. After several runs through the dishwasher, they have tarnished and cracked and I'm looking into buying a new set now. They we're nice for a short while as they obviously serve their purpose, but don't expect them to last long.

Wusthof 4-Piece Classic Knife Set

Wusthof 4-Piece Classic Knife SetVery nice knives, heavier than the cheap plastic handle sets you get at department stores. Also VERY sharp, cut my wifes finger the first time she used the bread knife (5 stitches)! Be careful.

I love these knives. The bread knife especially handy. Its perfect for tomatoes. Just be careful they are really sharp (my wife sliced her finger while cutting a bagette). You don't need any other knives except maybe a smaller chef knife. Worth every penny.

This is my first set of really good knives and it is amazing how much easier they are to use. The chef's knife makes cooking prep a joy rather than a chore. The 8" knife felt big at first, but after using it for a while, it's feels like the perfect size. I've been using the steel to hone the knives daily when I use them and they stay sharp.

BUILT Neoprene Origami Wine Bottle Tote, Black

BUILT Neoprene Origami Wine Bottle Tote, BlackI bought this Built NY wine bag because I liked the idea that it was collapsible. Unfortunately, in person it's not as neat as I expected.

First, the texture of the bag isn't soft and wetsuit like the other Built NY bags. It actually feels like a thin layer of neoprene over cardboard or rigid plastic. Second, the bag itself pushes back (or resists collapsing) more than I liked when I collapsed it; I can only imagine my dexterity getting it closed after I drank said bottle. Last, when it does collapse it was far bigger than I would've liked; it wouldn't fit in my shoulder bag discreetly; I'm better off with their signature wine bag shoved in my purse.

RETURNED.

I bought this for my boyfriend's mother and it was a hit. It is very cool looking and well made. It is stylish and practical. Makes a great gift.

(Pack of 4) Kid Safe Poly Sandwich Spreaders (Colors May Vary), 7½"

(Pack of 4) Kid Safe Poly Sandwich Spreaders, 7½'I am terrible about reading the dimensions of items, assuming the size based on the typical size of an item but these are really pretty big. I purchased them to go on a colorful cheese display as spreaders as they came up on an Amazon search for such an item but they were way too big for that purpose. They are very pretty and seem completely safe for kids I am glad I purchased them for my son to use but they didn't suit the purpose I actually purchased them for. My fault for not reading the dimensions!

I don't like it when I try to spread mustard on bread and the knife cuts the bread. Use this spreader and you can get the mustrad evenly with one swipe and no fear of ripping the bread. Low-tech and it works. What else could you ask for?

Epicurean Gourmet Utensils Nylon Sauté Tool

Epicurean Gourmet Utensils Nylon Sauté Tool, Natural with BlackI now have 2 of these, the big spoon, the spatula, and 2 cutting boards. It is great to cook with, cleans nicely in the dishwasher, no worries about harboring bacteria, nontoxic. I'm very pleased with this product, and plan to replace all plastic in the kitchen drawers with nontoxic alternatives.

I love, love love this saute tool! It is the best tool for stir-frying that I've ever used. My husband got our set of Epicurean utensils one year at an office party, and they're all great. I also recommend the turner (we have a large one) These items have really withstood a lot of use and dishwasher abuse. You won't be sorry about buying this

I have more kitchen gadgets than a sane person should admit to so I can be a little hard to impress in this department. This perfect saute tool by Epicurean meets all the claims in its product description in a very Apple-esque/Steve Jobs worthy-way, making it one of the few items I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. Unique and stylish design works in my eclectic kitchen, complimenting both the rustic wood accents and modern touches. The shape is genius gets to every nook and cranny in my straight sided saute pans as well as the more sloped edged fry pans. It is heat resistant to 400*F not sure how hot my saute pans actually get on full blast but no signs of melting or warping. Came out of the dishwasher looking same as new. Non-porous did not absorb smells or color from a chicken tikka dish with heavy curry and tumeric spices. Eco-friendly/green materials used in construction are a plus and came with just a label instead of excessive packaging. Made in USA to boot!

Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommended!

UV 6 piece Fruit and Vegetable Carving Set

UV 6 piece Fruit and Vegetable Carving SetAlthough the seller I bought these from overcharges severely for S&H, I have had trouble finding this set. I wanted this set (or one like it) for some time. Everyone who sells these sets seems to sell the kind with the wooden handles (which I do not like, as a personal choice), or without this many size choices.

Exactly what I wanted for fruit carving and garnishing.

I am a professional cook who uses these at work...

I use these tools almost every day in the work place. It is almost impossible to create certain garnish work and centerpieces without these. The stunning artwork created by the use of these tools will be limited only by the immagination of the Chef. Guests will be greatly amazed at your presentations once you become accomplished in using these tools.

I picked these knives up to replace another somewhat inexpensive set that I've had for years. I wasn't sure if I'd like the serrated edge as I've found that this just normally tears the food instead of cutting it. These knives however are incredibly sharp and the serrated edge works well without tearing your food to shreds.

They are pretty basic in terms of construction but I don't feel as though that will be an issue with longevity. They're also fairly light in your hand but again, I don't think it really has a negative affect on the product.

If you're looking for a basic set of steak knives, I think you'd be hard pressed to find another set that work as well as these for the money.

Global GF-33 8 1/4-Inch, 21-cm Heavyweight Chef's Knife

Global GF-33 8 1/4-Inch, 21-cm Heavyweight Chef's KnifeIf God's mighty Hands are big enough, He definitely uses the 8 1/4" heavyweight Global. If not He wields a mighty regular 8".

These knives appear at first like Pacific Palisades yuppie display pieces, purchased to never be used, highly crafted but without mind towards function. Nothing could be further from the truth, however; these knives mean business. Built with Japan's modern chefs in mind, they have the balance of a Katana, highest quality steel and a wicked edge. They're suitable in construction and balance for everything from sashimi to butchery.

This heavy knife (Global actually refers to the heavier knives as "forged", probably because their lighter knives have ground hollow handles) can deftly mince shallots or rip apart a chicken in the same breath. The balance is so perfect that it really feels like nothing at all in your hand.

Care and feeding are trickier than a Henckels or a carbon-steel knife; the molybenum/vandium alloy is extremely hard and hard to influence outside of a full grind. I'm using a ceramic finishing stone to hone the edge (which does slip around; a downside of the extremely acute angle of grind), and I expect that I'll have a professional grind it when needed, something I don't do with my Henckels knives.

I'm buying the lighter 8" knife as well, now that I've had my hands on it. I really think that between the two of them there's nothing you can't take down.

I bought this knife almost three months ago, and have been nothing but impressed. I am a professional chef and have used this blade almost non-stop since its arrival. Despite daily use and infrequent passes on a global ceramic steel, it still remains near razor sharp. The feel, the balance, the way the blade will hold an edge, everything about this knife is amazing. It has quickly grown to be my favorite knife, surpassing even my ceramic knife which cost me three times as much and hasn't held up nearly as well. Only complaint I have is because of its heavy weight, delicate cutting such as basil julienne (which I do frequently) are exceptionally difficult without bruising the herbs. Its possible to do the job with the knife, but not really what it was designed for either in my opinion. Every knife has its purpose, this is the best general purpose knife ive ever used.

Buy Global GF-33 8 1/4-Inch, 21-cm Heavyweight Chef's Knife Now

I've been a professional chef for almost a decade now, and I've tried dozens of high-end and mid-priced knives including Shun, Calphalon, Henckels, Wusthof, Furi, and plenty of others. This is the best. Hands down. I had previously purchased the G-2 chef's knife and really loved it, but it just wasn't quite beefy enough to take down things like sweet potatoes, butternut squash, or cleanly cut through a chicken spine. The extra blade thickness (and weight) at the hilt is a huge advantage for tasks like shredding cabbage for slaw or finely chopping herbs. That being said, the knife is balanced so well it feels like a part of your arm, and is sharper than some of the ceramics out there. the steel is harder than all but the most expensive german lines, but it flexes more than the folded japanese knives. The result? The Global cuts smooth as buttah, stays sharp longer than a Pro-S Henckels, but doesn't chip or crack like a Shun. It's also just a really beautiful and elegantly designed piece of steel. Showroom-quality, as they say. The one real caveat is that you really need a ceramic honer to keep the blade in top form. Standard chrome or diamond steels just don't hold up. I recommend the Wusthof Ceramic Honing Rod. 5 years in, and it hasn't lost a bit of its grit.

Invest in this knife (and a good sharpening stone). It is heavy but with experience, that's a good thing. "Let the knife do the work" and all that. I got used to the weight quite quickly.

I have regularly used German, Swiss, and American steel blades and this Japanese Global puts them all to shame across the board. A bit higher on the price scale than some of it's "competitors" (if you can call them that), but it MORE than makes up for it in performance, durability, ease of use, comfort, and craftsmanship. Hands down the sharpest blade I've ever worked with. I highly recommend that you hone this knife on a soaked wet stone rather than a traditional steel though, as it takes a 10 degree angle on the blade edge, where most every steel is designed for a 40-45 degree edge. Probably the last chef knife I will ever need to buy.

AccuSharp 015C Knife, Garden Tool, and Scissor Sharpener Multipack

AccuSharp 015C Knife, Garden Tool, and Scissor Sharpener MultipackI have only used the knife sharpener and not any of the others, so extrapolate to those at your own risk. I used it about two years ago when there was one on site in the kitchen of the Inn where I was contracted to cater for an event. My experience was positive in the moment, but I would not get one personally. Here's why:

This will put an edge on a knife. It will do so quickly, easily, and with very little skill or effort required.

HOWEVER it puts this edge on at the expense of the knife. It removes way more material from the surface of the knife than a normal sharpening on a stone. Furthermore, the edge it places is indeed sharp, but does not last. The angle is likely to steep to be maintained even with regular honing. Continuing to sharpen a knife over the course of a single weekend left me with a constantly sharp knife, but one where I'd removed a full 1/8 of an inch of material from the blade. Since it wasn't my knife I didn't much care, but there is no way I would ever let this touch my own personal knives, or any expensive knives really.

If you buy cheap knives in the first place and just replace them when they dull, you should seriously get this. It will save you a lot of money. BUT, if you care about the longevity of your blades, move along. Most likely your knife will only need to be honed anyway, but if it really needs to be sharpened, get a wet stone and learn to use it.

Edit: People are reacting negatively to this review in part because amazans mobile app posted my review when all I had listed was the positives, before the "HOWEVER". It took a long to to figure out how to edit the review from the mobile site and in the meantime damage was done.

That said, let me also clarify another point. Under normal sharpening conditions on a wet stone as you would find in a commercial kitchen it would take years to remove as much material from the blade as this thing did in a single weekend, and the edge would last a lot longer.

Note that this review pertains only to the knife sharpener, not the garden tool or scissor sharpener. I am buying the multi-pack today, based on how well the version for knives has worked for me.

In 2006, Cooks Illustrated magazine did a product review of knife sharpeners, and the AccuSharp was deemed the best of the manual sharpeners that they tested. Then I found out that a friend of mine owned one, and I borrowed it. It worked like a charm, and I immediately bought one for myself, which I have been using for the last five years.

Sharpening is fast and easy. If your knives are not ridiculously dull, one or two passes is sufficient to restore the edge to better-than-new. The Cooks Illustrated review points out the only downside: If your knives are in really bad shape, this will not remove nicks from the blade it just doesn't remove enough metal.

Final thought: There is another review which states that repeated use over a weekend removed 1/8" of the knife blade. I don't see how this is possible, unless one is using it incorrectly (like sticking a new pencil in a pencil sharpener, and continuing to turn the crank until the pencil is sharpened down to a stub). Regular use is just a couple of passes, and removes almost no metal.

I have been using Accusharp for about ten years on everything from Kershaw, Cold Steel, Spyderco, Gerber, and SOG folding knives to Wusthoff, Sheffield, Forschner, Sabatier, and Henckels kitchen knives. None of my knives have been significantly reduced as described by Daniel in his review. I'm not arguing with his statements, just saying that my experience has been considerably different than his.

If starting with an extremely dull blade, you might have to take quite a bit of metal off to achieve a sharp edge, but after that all you will need is a few light strokes to maintain the edge. And remember that you should use a butcher's steel or ceramic rod MUCH more often than a sharpener.

There are any number of similar sharpeners, and I've tried many of them but none work as well as the Accusharp.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I have been using the AccuSharp multipack of sharpeners for many weeks now. The multipack consists of sharpeners for Garden tools, Scissors, and Knives and Tools. There is some overlap among functions; for example the Scissors sharpener can be used for hedge clippers per the instructions, and so can the Garden sharpener. Basically the differences between the sharpeners is how the sharpeners are mounted. The Knife sharpener has "v" shape array which fits over typical knife blades. The Scissors sharpener is a single flat, horizontal sharpener that you rest on the beveled scissors edge and draw it across. The Garden sharpener is "v" shaped like the Knife sharpener, but the notch is wider and one of the sides of the "v" is more prominent: that is the side that goes against the beveled edge of the blade.

With these 3 sharpeners, I feel like there is nothing left in the house that I can't sharpen.

I have fine Wusthof kitchen knives, and a couple of swipes with the Knife sharpener and they are slicing tomatoes like they are new. Old scissors (and when I say "old," I mean from the 1960s) have been rejuvenated. The scissor action is a bit loose still, but the scissor blades are sharp as can be now. My lawnmower blade gets a few strokes each time I mow, and the grasscutting action is the better for it. Every time I come across something old and dull around the house, I have applied one of these sharpeners to it, and every time the performance has been improved.

These sharpeners are extremely effective, and thus it is VERY important to follow the instructions (just a paragraph or 2 on the back of the package) ... the most important of which is to use a LIGHT touch. It does not take much pressure to remove metal with tungsten carbide sharpeners, and you can do more harm than good if you press too hard. So remember, light touch improves much (I just made that up, good, eh?)

So, here are my pros and cons for this multipack of sharpeners:

Great value: Three sharpeners for a very reasonable price.

Excellent performance: As I described above, I have sharpened fine kitchen knives, VERY old scissors, newer scissors that had become dull, lawnmower blade, utility knives (not the razor type, the blade type), and every time the sharpeners have done an excellent job.

Color coded: Green for Garden, Yellow for Scissors, Blue for Knives. As well, the names/functions are printed or embossed on each of the sharpeners too.

Reversible sharpener: If you ever manage to wear down the sharpener, the tool can be disassembled and the sharpener can be reversed. This effectively doubles the life of the device. Awesome.

Protective handle: Because the usage is to rest the blade sharp side upward and draw the sharpener across, there is potential for slippage and injury WITHOUT a protective handle ... however the protection is there but care should still always be used when handling sharp objects.

USA made: Gotta love that one.

Lifetime warranty: I seriously love a company that stands behind its products.

Cons:

I just sat here for 5 minutes and couldn't think of a single one I have personally observed.

Bottom line:

This is a great set of knife, scissors, and garden tool sharpeners. It's effective, easy to use, made in the USA, and has a lifetime warranty. Highly recommended for household sharpening needs.

I got one of these as a stocking stuffer 15 years ago from my uncle. To say I was thrilled would not exactly describe how I felt about it. But he was enthusiastic and so proud of this wonderful gift. He went right to the kitchen and got out knives and proceeded to show us. Well, ya know what? For once, it was just exactly what it said it was, a fantastic knife shapener. I have used nothing else for 15 years, I use mine on scissors, and kitchen knives. I didn't know until today that they had other kinds.

I was so happy to see this today as a multi-pack deal. I will be ordering one for myself and one for my daughter, son, and mother.

I promise, if you get this sharpener you will love it. I have used it on serrated knives, carbon steel, stainless, all of them, and it works on all of them.

Reed & Barton Falmouth One Drawer Flatware Chest, Dark Espresso with Brown Lining

Reed & Barton Falmouth One Drawer Flatware Chest, Dark Espresso with Brown LiningI've never owned a silverware storage chest before so this one seems pretty expensive for what you get. There is no "brown leather inlay" so buyer beware. You can see some wood grain showing through the coating on the top and the coating almost seems like plastic. With that said, there is a slight bow to the front which is attractive and the drawer pulls are burnished which look nice also. The lid knob was a little loose but I was able to get a small screwdriver up in there to tighten it. The inside is roomy although my new knives are so big they were difficult to fit in the slots on the inside of the lid. Overall it's okay so I'm keeping it, but it seems a pretty expensive price for the defects on the top of the lid.

I purchased this item after carefully viewing it on site but when the item arrived it was different to the advertised product.

Amazon then sent a replacement product to me, unfortunately the second one was also different (like the first one) no leather inlay on the top, so returned both items back to Amazon.

I have to give credit to Amazon as they were extremely helpful to me with sending both items back with return mail addresses, also the refunding in full, the cost of each chest & the mailing/postal charges. As I live in Perth, Western Australia the postage for these heavy items was very expensive & Amazon have also refunded the postage that I paid.

I was very impressed with the communications with the staff & would encourage anyone to contact a staff member when a problem arrises no matter how small & regardless of the time difference.

Good Work Amazon & Thank You. I will continue to buy the great products you have up for sale.

I purchased this flatware chest elsewhere; but since I shop a lot with Amazon, I thought I would let Amazon customers know my opinion of this product.

Quality: it really is a beautiful chest, finely crafted of nice polished wood and decent shiny brass hardware. I saw no leather inlay as stated, but the inside was nicely lined with a soft dark brown felt fabric. I was very pleased with the quality of the chest.

Configuration: I wanted a flatware chest specifically to protect my 8-setting Nikko Happy Holidays stainless flatware, because it's such a pain to wrap and rewrap with tissue and baggies every Christmas season. Upon loading the pieces in the chest, however; I found that the overlarge round ceramic handles of this specialty flatware prevent more than two pieces to be stacked in each slot. Therefore, 4 soup spoons, 4 teaspoons, 4 dinner forks, 4 dessert forks, 2 spreaders, and all 8 knives in the lid are what fit in the main compartment. Other than the knives, a second service for 4 would not fit. A big plus: 8 hostess serving pieces (2 large and 2 medium serving spoons, meat fork, small ladle, sugar spoon and cheese server) fit well in the nice-sized drawer; which was thankfully NOT separated into slots.

Overall: I realize the handles on my flatware are large, but there should be more depth to a product advertising that it holds 180 pieces, which is why I only rated the product 4 stars. To be fair, perhaps none of available brands of flatware chests have the depth that this set would require. I do really like this chest, but I will have to purchase a second one to protect the remainder of my holiday flatware. Which is somewhat acceptable, because I have a few more serving pieces on my wish list!

Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery 6-1/2-Inch Sandwich Knife

Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery 6-1/2-Inch Sandwich KnifeThis knife is amazing!!! it replaces a bread knife, a paring knife, and a Chef's knife... because it can do everything!!! I work at Bed Bath and Beyond and we don't carry this knife at the moment but i have been doing my very best to make sure we do, a Calphalon rep. gave me one of these knifes to try out, and i haven't been able to put it down since... On a regular basis i refer people to Calphalon's Website to check this thing out, for anyone who is fed up with trying to sharpen your serrated bread knife look no further, as it has no serrated edge but still cuts through bread, and even if you were to allow it to get dull, due to the wavy pattern of the blade it still slices through tomato(even squishy tomatoes) with ease. I really can't say enough... best design of a knife i've seen, hands down... who knew a sandwich knife was the missing tool of my kitchen... also well weighted, and solid in the hand as with most other large Calphalon Contemporary knifes... To whoever takes the plunge and buys this unique knife, you will be happily surprised... and did i mention it also cuts through sandwiches really well( as to be expected i guess).... i'll say it one last time, because it really is that good, amazing Knife!!!

Yes, it is a stupid review title, but I honestly was at a loss so forgive my lack of creativity. This is a great knife. It is well made and solid, and definitely has a use. It is not, however, the all-purpose instrument that others have indicated. It is very sharp, and unlike most serrated knives you could re-hone the edge of this because the edge is wavy with large scallops. However, this is a blade designed to chew through bread crusts and maybe some onion. Soft sliced white bread and too-juicy tomato will tear or crush, and toppings will be pulled out from between slices of bread, no matter how careful you happen to be.

It is a great bagel knife, and a good choice if you like bakery breads with firm crusts. Knives are one of those kitchen tools I think should be pretty multidimensional and have multiple applications. This is not that kind of tool, and pretty single-purposed. It also fails at doing a major part of what it was supposed to do well. Great bread knife, bad sandwich knife (better review name!) It is nice enough that I am not sorry I bought it, but wouldn't buy it again.

[If the star system allowed, I'd give a 4 for quality/workmanship and a 2 for design/application. Man am I picky today.]

Update: June 2013. It rusts terribly. If you put it in the dish drainer to air dry it will rust.

Buy Calphalon Contemporary Cutlery 6-1/2-Inch Sandwich Knife Now

I've made a number of purchases in my quest for the ultimate sandwich knife, and this is the best. My last purchase was a zylis sandwich knife and it couldn't slice straight. This knife on the other hand, is a fantastic slicer not just for a sandwich knife, but compared to all knives. The tip profile works perfect for getting at the bottom of the mayo jar without scraping up the plastic, and it spreads very well. Works great as a bread knife too. No, it doesn't look like it'll be easy to sharpen if the time ever comes, but it performs excellent. Go ahead and buy it, you won't be disappointed with this one.

Wusthof Classic Hollow Edge Chef's Knife

8' Cooks Knife, Hollow EdgeI bought a set of 3 Wusthof knives for my father for Christmas. My boyfriend started complaining about the lack of a good knife in our house, and my dad seemed really happy with the Wusthofs, so I thought this would be a good choice for his birthday.

I have 3 ceramic knives that I love, but they're more fragile then I expected, so he won't use them. This Wusthof knife is just awesome. Heavy duty, nicely weighted and feels great in the hand. Perfect balance. It's a universal kind of knife that will feel comfortable for just about anyone. I'm used to putting some pressure into cutting things, especially sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. With this, it just slices right through it, with no effort. A gorgeous cutting experience.

The only warning I'll give, this knife is SHARP. Be extremely careful, because I have no doubt it will chop thru your finger just as easily as it will slide thru a tomato! Otherwise, take care of it, and it will last a lifetime.

I bought this knife for my husband for christmas.

He is a chef, and really appreciates quality knives.

It was a great buy and the delivery was prompt.

Good service overall.

I would give this knife 5 stars. I love it.

The supplier I bought it from, though, is just okay. Maybe 3 stars. The price was great, so that's good. But shipping was very slow, especially considering I paid extra for expedited shipping. And when I contacted them with concerns about shipping time, I never received a reply. Everything worked out fine in the end, and I love the new knife, but I might be leery about ordering from them again, especially on bigger items.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He used it last night and said it cut through our chateaubriand like butter. He was also impressed that the metal come through to the end of the handle because in his eyes that makes a better knife. He also likes the one edge because when cutting veggies etc nothing sticks to the side...just falls to the side. So glad I made this purchase!

Enduring Bamboo 3 Piece Cutting Board Set - Large Small and in Between You'll Have the 3 Best Woode

Enduring Bamboo 3 Piece Cutting Board Set - Large Small and in Between You'll Have the 3 Best Wooden Chopping Boards on Your Kitchen Counter - Breads Meats Vegetables - Hardy Bamboo Care Instructions & Lifetime GuaranteeI was excited when I found the boards at a reasonable price. They came right away with easy to follow care instructions. I'd been using a plastic cutting board and constantly had to sharpen my knives...and frankly, my plastic board was looking a bit funky. I had planned to use one board for veggies, one for meat and the smallest for cheese. However, that isn't the way the plan turned out. Make sure you open your package in private unless you really want to share, the boards are beautiful and anyone watching will want one. My daughter just came back to Indiana to live (from California) and left her trusty old wooden cutting board behind in the move. When she saw the bamboo, she was ecstatic. We're primarily vegetarian, so I figured I wouldn't miss one of the boards and gave her the medium sized one. We cooked together on the Fourth and didn't have to sharpen the knives once. I also understand the bamboo has antibacterial properties, so I don't have to worry as much about the health of the family, particularly since we eat most of our vegetables raw.

This is a great quality product a great value for the price paid. The three different sizes will be useful depending on what my husband and I are cooking. The instructions included with the product were very helpful, especially since I didn't know you can't use food oil (olive or vegetable) on the boards to protect them. There were great instructions about oiling the boards, disinfecting the boards, and other helpful tips. I would recommend this product to others who are looking for a set of cutting boards.

I didn't expect to be so thrilled to get a set of cutting boards, but these are really nice! They're super thick and of excellent quality. They don't wobble on my counter and are sturdy, and the weight of them feels good. I like the three sizes, especially the smaller one for when I'm just cutting up an apple or cheese or something and don't want to take up half the countertop with a big board. The boards came with a very informative insert about how to prepare and care for the cutting boards which was helpful. I wish I had known some of the information before so I could have applied it to my old cutting boards that these are replacing. I didn't know how to care for them and they split (they were not bamboo), and ewww, who knew about the bacteria they could have been harboring. The insert also told me how to avoid that mess. Also I like that these are bamboo, I like how the grain pattern looks, plus is it's a strong and sustainable wood. Great cutting boards! Wow, I didn't realize that I've gotten so domesticated to be this happy about cutting boards, but hey, happy is happy, and all is good with this purchase.

Ginsu 05836 Comfort Grip Series 4-Piece Green Steak Knife Set

Ginsu 05836 Comfort Grip Series 4-Piece Green Steak Knife SetHandles are sort of a green/yellow. Not really a mainstream color. My wife says it resembles the peridot gemstone.

Everything else about the knives is top-notch. Good weight, and length. VERY sharp. Looks like they'll last. These will be our everyday steak knives (we like the color).

Swissmar Cheese Knife, Universal, Stainless Steel

Swissmar Cheese Knife, Universal, Stainless SteelContrary to the unfortunately very silly previous review on this item (the one that complained it was too sharp) this is a nice, general purpose, all-around cheese knife. Admittedly, its a jack of all trades though master of none, but I wouldn't be without it. Its useful for things from soft moist cheese (the flat, solid blade is convenient for spreading) through semi-soft cheese. Too firm, and the blade isn't an ideal shape to bring weight down through the cheese. Not the first knife I'd get, or even the second get Swissmar's planer and a knife from Henckels J.A. Henckels Twin Collection Cheese Knife but I've found it useful as a small, handy knife.

Works well. We like it. Not sure why others rated it so low but it works for us just fine.

Wanted a simple cheese knife for my husband and upon inspection my son cut his finger on it. Way too sharp for anything. I feel it is not necessary for a cheese knife to be this sharp!

Chicken Deboning Knife, Black Fibrox, 3 in.

Chicken Deboning Knife, Black Fibrox, 3 in.Been using it to debone legs and thighs, it sure makes it a lot easier to have the right knife for the job. Cant really compare to other deboning knives because this is my first. Im no professional but Victorinox knives work well for me, I can grip them better and even though its a plastic handle it still feels sturdy.

Victorinox Forged 8-Piece Knife Set with Block

Victorinox Forged 8-Piece Knife Set with BlockI've lived in Europe most of my life and I know a good knife. These are excellent quality knifes! However I was quite disappointed by the quality of the block and the cheap looking emblem on the front. Doesn't even look like the picture on Amazon... and of course it wasn't made in Europe.

To start with; Unlike some other reviewers, I like the wooden knife block. It is weighty, well balanced, not easily knocked over and has wide slots for the knives. To my eyes it looks balanced and fits well into a kitchen counter corner. The set also includes other practical kitchen items, such as the high quality steel, a santoku knife, a boning knife and good quality kitchen scissors/shears. These are expensive and quite useful items, often missing in other maker's sets.

The handles themselves are weighted, well rounded, and called an ergonomic design. They are a little longer than most and raised towards the rear. This allows the heel of the palm, to assist more in cutting and in theory, reduce fatigue in extended use. They fit all hands well but those with chubby or large hands have found their knife. I found them roundish and comfortable but didn't notice a huge difference between these and the classic style.

The bolster (metal between the handle and blade) doesn't extend to the bottom of the blade. This is an advantage for some slicing operations and doesn't give the knife that worn out look after repeated sharpening.

The 20cm (8") Chef's knife has the largest handle of the set and weighs in at 293 grams; with balance on the handle side of the bolster. This is close to perfect for a heavier professional knife, where the weight can assist in cutting. Interestingly enough at the halfway length of the blade, 10mm in from the edge, the blade thickness measured 1.1 mm. Just about a perfect balance between a thin (for ease of cutting) but weighty blade. I am impressed with this particular knife. The carver weighs 206 grams and the Santoku 214 grams and both feel good in the hand.

After several weeks of favourable use, I sharpened the knives to a standard 20 degree grind. This sharpening is where I often find quality or lack of it in a knife, which you can't see on purchase. They sharpened without much burr, indicating between a medium to hard, fine grained, well tempered steel. The surprise came on the sharpness test. Rarely have I had knives come out this sharp from a standard sharpening routine. In daily use the edges held well, didn't chip (unlike many of the harder Japanese knives) and a good edge came back with a few strokes from a carbide (Accusharp type) sharpener. The only minor change I would make to the set, is to the Santoku knife. There I would add a bit more taper from the bolster to the blade, to allow for a little more pinching between the thumb and index finger for some slicing operations. Plus I would prefer the grooves on the blade to be higher up, as they may become too close to the edge after several years of sharpening. A preference only and not really a fault.

I am a retire e who sharpens a couple hundred knives a year(for pocket money)and owns or has owned many expensive, moderate and cheap knives. The Victorinox Forged Knife Set has in practical use, been just about perfect for me. I highly recommend their purchase and they are worth the premium price. UPDATE: After several months of use. The Santoku is a real performer and ideal for the expensive minimalist who wants to own just one knife. It is the knife I now INSTINCTIVELY use for most cutting. It is hard to quantify but it has a feel/weight/edge/comfort/balance that merge together for a superb knife. Secondly I am surprised by how good and how often I pull the kitchen scissors from the block.

I ordered these knives and they arrived promptly. The knives themselves are very nice, but a little heavy. The block however is a total piece of crap! It has a thin layer of lacquer that had the edges worn away where the knives are slotted, likely from shipping. The small knives fall over because the block gives no support to them. The slot is too big. I returned them and will likely get Wusthof because, after looking at them in the store, their block is solid oak. I have always liked Victorinox but please step up your game and spring for a real block when your customers drop $300+ on knives.

Knives are well made and they cut nicely. It's good range of knife types that you will actually use. The blade's finish will mar easily even if you use something like a Scott scouring sponge. This is probably true for most other knives so not really an issue. The block is indeed terrible. The knife slots and overall block quality just isn't there, but then again I don't buy a knife set for the block. I'll probably get a magnet knife strip instead at some point.
