My order just arrived today, 12/26/07 and the steel was 18/0 NOT 18/8. The difference is huge, the /8 means 8% nickel, which improves the finish, but more importantly gives stainless dishware its corrosion resistance. 18/0 will corrode in the dishwasher rapidly, 18/8 or /10 will last many many years. If you aren't sure what you have, 18/0 is magnetic, 18/8 or 18/10 aren't.

I bought this set to replace lost pieces in our old Colonial Boston set. Unfortunately, Oneida has changed the pattern of the knives. The picture shown on this page is not what I received. I did notify Amazon of this change. Hopefully they will change the picture. But be warned if you have an old set of this pattern, don't expect this set to be a perfect match.

These knives are amazing! Cutting veggies is a snap-even hard veggies like potatoes and sweet potatoes! And bread is cut easily, without any smushing. I would highly recommend to anyone. I love this organizer! It expands to fit, so it isn't awkward and makes the most of your drawer space. This item is disappointing. The plastic is flimsy and there is nothing holding the 'expanders' onto the center section. They collapse and get turned crooked very easily. It is not the look I was going for. I would recommend the wood version of this instead, I have one of them, and it is alot sturdier and higher quality. It fits and stays together much better. I really didn't want white, but after reading reviews about other similar products made of different materials, I swayed back toward this one. It is really working out well for me! It fits in my drawer perfectly and use every compartment available! Some people complained that the side pieces come off easily, but if you sit down and open it to its maximum size and then sit your items in it, it will not move. At least mind didn't. I would definitely recommend this product!
This is one of Wusthof's lower end cheese knives. It does not cut cheese smoothly and effortlessly like their other cheese knives do. It is not meant for softer cheeses. A word of advice, avoid this cheese knife and buy one of their other higher end cheese knives.
I bought this board as a Christmas present for my son-in-law, and he loves it! His criteria for a new board included: reasonable size (so he could bring it to the table) and a trough and well to catch meat juices. This board has those attributes, plus it is well made with small rubber feet to hold it secure while carving and handles (carved into the underside of the board) so it can be carried easily to where ever you like. I looked at every carving board on Amazon and on many other websites; many were nice, but none had ALL of the features I've mentioned -plus -a very reasonable price! I would not hesitate to recommend this board. By the way, there is NO ONE on the web that has the selection of carving boards you find on Amazon - thanks, Amazon!

Definitely worth the money for this. I used it on Halloween at our carving party, and then my boyfriend used it, and then my mom used it, and her friend used it and my friend used it... I think you get the idea. Comes with several extra blades (not that we needed them) and will pay for itself in one Halloween if you're like us and usually buy handfuls of the cheapo carving knives each season.
I have had this knife for about a month now, it looks great, and just as sharp as my $180 chefs knife. I would highly reccomend this knife over any others because it is such a good price for the quality.

I've had this knife since early 2012. Dropped it yesterday and the blade broke in half about an inch from the handle when it hit the ceramic tile floor. Broke my heart! I absolutely love kitchen knives! I got this knife after seeing a review about it in a magazine. It came super sharp and so far has kept it's sharpness well. I like the wooden handle. This cleaver is quite good for breaking down tough proteins and fowl. It was sharp out of the box and ready to go to work. It's heavy and cuts with authority through bone, hard fat and tough sinew. You can do with this what you can't or shouldn't do with your Chinese style chef cleavers. Great knife for the price.

Unfortunately, I paid twice the www.Amazon.com price from a local store several years ago, and I must say it is one of the few kitchen appliances I have been disappointed with. It takes a long time to get all the knives honed to the angles of this sharpener. Then keeping them sharp seems to take a long time and they never seem to get as sharp as one would expect. The motor heats up quite easily after a few knives and begins to smell like it is overheating. I think the product has always been over-rated. I might buy it at this price but a simple non electric works just as well at less money.
Just got this set in the mail today. Good weight on them, heavier than I expected. Did some research and they are suppose to be 18/8, but they fell more like 18/10 in my hands. (Don't quote me on this) However, when compared to my other Laguiole steak knives, the bee on this set is different. Different detailing. This makes me question the authenticity of the product. Am I being too neurotic? I mean, Amazon wouldn't sell fake ones... would they??? Also, the set did not come in their usual wooden box...I mean, I don't need the box nor do I have room to store the darn thing, but does this mean this is not from the real LeBrun??? These are decent knives for the money. Sharper than they look at first glance and seem to have nice solid handles...I like the straight cut handle better than the traditional curved handle on many other sets. Good price and quality for a basic set of steak knives.

I purchased three of these sets to accommodate a service of 12. The flatware has a sturdy feel and is well balanced. It looks fantastic on the table. I wanted something dishwasher safe and low maintenance while still formal enough for a dinner party. This set is perfect! I get tons of compliments every time I use it!

Perhaps the first reviewer had a defective knife because I can only give this inexpensive little knife the very highest recommendation. Initially, I had purchased a very (in my opinion) expensive electric knife ($65) which lasted all of, what? Two months? Yup, two months. Since I couldn't really afford to drop that kind of cash so soon again on an electric knife I got the Black & Decker EK700, not expecting it to last for very long because on average I bake at least a dozen loaves of bread a week, half of which are heavy wheat or rye breads.

Arthritic hands make for difficult handling of tools. My former electric carving knife works just fine for spouse and grown children, but I was unable to keep it running long enough to make a cut. This implement allows me to depress and keep depressed the cutting trigger. I've carved some fairly tough meats and some very tender cuts. The knife has worked equally well for both. I haven't yet tried it on anything frozen. The blades are easy to attach and detach. Great product at a resonable price. This knife is comfortable in your hand, (left or right.) It cuts smoothly without applying undue preasure. The offset blade allows cutting through to bottom of bread or meat without racking your knuckles or repositioning your grip. I keep an electric knife plugged in on my counter for all kinds of cutting. I have had several electric knives over the years but this is the worst. It has a small gap between the blades and this allows the meat that you are cutting get between the blades rendering it useless. I have only used it on roast chicken/turkey so I cannot comment on how it is with bread. Others seem to have no problem cutting bread. But if you want to use it on poultry, buy something else.
I purposely bought this sharpener that grinds the finer 15 degree edge for all of my knives.

Brought my Global knives back to a very sharp edge. It was not as sharp as when I first got it but that is unrealistic. I am very happy with the ease of use and effectiveness at this price.
It is a bit tricky buying things on line at times. This flatware set is everything I wanted and more. The pattern is simple, yet lovely, and the weight of the pieces is perfect. They really feel like they should have cost a lot more than they did. The included tray is so nice, I threw away the one in my drawer and use it instead. I would certainly buy another set if I need more place settings in the future. They would also make a lovely "new home" gift.

We purchased this same set at Target in 2007. I loved the detail and weight of the silverware. However, when I got this new set to add to our collection, I found that they were lightweight, the detail wasn't as defined, and they rust easily. I bought this set of silverware a couple years ago and it was awesome. It was made out of quality stainless steel, each utensil was thick and it NEVER rusted. I have since lost a few pieces so I ordered the same set because I loved my original one so much. The set I just received was NOT the same quality. They are a lot thinner than my old set, and they RUST really bad in the dishwasher. I am very disappointed in this set of silverware. :(
