This is a good, inexpensive and versatile knife that can be used as a spreader and server. I stumbled upon it when I needed an inexpensive item to meet the free shipping requirement.It's good for cutting soft & leafy vegetables (lettuce, tomato), things that can be cut with sawing motion. It will not cut hard vegetable (carrot) that requires chopping motion.
It's particularly handy for making sandwiches. I can use it to spread the condiment, then slice the tomato or sweet pepper, and cut the sandwich in half at the end with just one knife. It's also great for cake, breads, brownies, etc.
It washes well in the dishwasher. A great buy overall!

I was surprised at the number of people who have no idea that the brown edges on cut lettuce are from the metal on the knife they use. (Supposedly, this is rust.) I have used a plastic lettuce knife before and just recently found this one. Great price. Works just like it should. Once you try this, you'll NEVER cut lettuce with anything metal again.
