This spatula is just about perfect for many tasks and I reach for it regularly. It is super thin and strong, springy and responsive, which makes it easy to slip under delicate foods as well as basics like fried eggs. I took away one star because at just under one year the seam between the handle and blade started leaking and allowed water to collect in the handle. Victorinox replaced the item after some discussion of the timing of the failure and returning it over the holidays. Found out that the "Lifetime Warranty" is only good for one year. After that the replacement costs a bit more than buying a new one and certainly when you count shipping the old one back it's more economical to toss it and buy a new one at this price point.Victorinox 3-Inch by 5-Inch Chef's Slotted Fish Turner Head, White Poly Handle

We have been using the food grinder attachment for 15 years with no complaints. This repacement blade is nothing like the original. It is lightweight junk. I will try to sharpen the original blade. This was a very flimsy version of the original that I misplaced. I paid more because I understood it was an authorized replacement. It was thinner than the original.Buy KitchenAid mixer cutter blade knife for food meat grinder. Now
I'm truly not happy with this blade at all. It's not as heavy duty as the one I have and so far..doesn't seem to do a good job at all. I'm glad it wasn't expensive!Read Best Reviews of KitchenAid mixer cutter blade knife for food meat grinder. Here
A new knife blade for the food mixer is a God send if you're grinding meat. When the old blade gets dull, it causes tendon and ligament striations to clog the holes in the grinder plate which turns the meat into goo. The new blade solves this problem by cutting off the meat as it presents through the holes in the grinder plate so the grinding process takes much less time, as well as eliminating the messy chore of unclogging it. This is particularly nice if you are grinding "select" grade meats for pork or pizza sausage. If you're still using youe original cutter blade, this replacement blade will put a smile on your face.Want KitchenAid mixer cutter blade knife for food meat grinder. Discount?
Found this blade at Amazon, read the reviews, some were puzzling. I needed a new blade because the original one just wasn't doing the job. Ordered this blade and when I received it placed it along side the original and it looked like a clone. Attached the blade, used it, it works fine, I'm satisfied.Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1
This is the best silverware I've used. It even stands up to the "eating-out-of-the-carton-of-hard-ice-cream" test without bending. We have had 8 place settings for 9 years and they still look like new (except the one that went down the disposal).Juilliard is the best patten for both casual and fine dinning. It never goes out of style and it matches so well with any decor. It is the price point it is for a reason...worth every penny you pay! Beautiful and great, great quality! I have had this pattern for over 20 years and I just keep adding to it and you can't tell the new pieces from the ones I started with years ago. Unbelievable value!Buy Oneida Juilliard 5-Piece Place Setting, Service for 1 Now
I appreciate the simple elegance of the Juilliard design. It is not too ornate and not too plain, rather, just the right amount of decorative flair. Too, the utensils feel balanced and of a comfortable weight. I purchased the one set to begin with because I wanted to see how I liked the design before buying the four set. There comes a time in every cook's life that they realize that it would be easier to have multiple cutting boards instead of taking the time to clean and re-clean a single board multiple times just to make one meal. This is a nice little collection. They all fit in the dishwasher, and even the smallest isn't so small that it has no utility. The bundle also was priced less than I found similar sized boards for in local stores.
They may not last me the rest of my life, but they are sturdy enough that I've already got more use than I paid for, and they've still got plenty of use left in them.
You're not going to get your picture in Better Homes and Kitchens magazine for having these in your kitchen. They make no fashion statement at all. But they do have plenty of utility, and isn't that what you're interested in when you need to chop, slice or dice something? This is a good, very useful type of cutting board. The sizes provided are handy. However, in the set I received, the largest board was substantially defective: the color is irregular in places, and the thickness in inconsistent. The board is thicker near the edges than it is in the middle, which is a serious flaw since the knife needs to contact the board throughout the cut.
I've owned several cutting boards, and never had one with a defect. It's an extremely simple product, and almost all types are flawless. To receive one with two separate, easily noticeable flaws is very disappointing. I cannot recommend this product.

I bought two sets of these. They're great for smashing wet things like handmade paper and pasted items. But both of the largest boards were warped--tippy on one side and stable but not flush with the table on the other. Still, for the money I'm very happy with the small boards which *are* perfectly flat.Read Best Reviews of Farberware 3-Piece Poly Cutting Board Set Here
I agree with some earlier reviews: These boards have uneven thicknesses, and the cutting surface is not flat. This means the boards can wobble on the countertop. Farberware may be inexpensive, but it's no bargain. Spend the extra dollars on a KitchenAid cutting board, which is thick, perfectly flat, and has non-skid rubber grips. If you're on a budget, Ikea cutting boards are even cheaper than Farberware but still better.Want Farberware 3-Piece Poly Cutting Board Set Discount?
Whenever I see the name "Farberware", I know I am assured of high quality cooking utensils. I was not disappointed with this 3-piece "Poly Cutting Board Set". The picture here does not do this product justice. They are not transparent, as they appear to be here. They are solid and sturdy,a good weight, make food prep and clean up easy, and are a great price to boot. The three sizes (14-1/4x10-3/4,10x8, and 7x9-1/4)are just about perfect for anything you may be preparing(I might have like the largest just a little bigger for say, cutting up a whole chicken). Each has a convienet handle, making it easy to move around or even hang up if you choose. The paddle shaped board has a channel around it for catching juices that usually flow off the board. I used that one to cut a pineapple up recently and had much less of a sticky mess to clean up. It would have been great if the larger board had these channels too, for catching the juice from meats before they hit the counter.
These boards can double for serving fruits and cheese and are nice for slicing bread or bagels as well. They are a good quality with a nice textured surface, that,so far, have not shown any wear from the knives. They are easily washed, dried and stored away. Another reviewer mentioned that their's was not flat, mine are, and I would suggest if you happen to recieve a set that is not flat, it should be returned for a new one.
The boards are treated to protect them from odor and stain causing bacteria, but must be throughly washed after food preparation.
A good buy for your kitchen, making life just a little simpler...Now If I can just get someone else to actually do the cooking......
thanks and enjoy.....Laurie

Hampton Forge Silversmiths Rena 17-Piece Flatware Set with a Purple Caddy
Now that I am living alone again, it was time to clean things out like all the odds and sodds of flatware and kitchen tools that my roommate didn't want to take. So I threw out the old and have been delighted with this replacement set. Just the perfect number for me (very small apartment so I don't entertain mobs) and hold up well to tossing in the sink and washing later. Also came in one of my favorite colors so it is a win-win.The Hampton flatware set is very attractive and feels well made. I have not used them much as they just arrived a few days ago. Ginkgo Panda-Babies 3-Piece Child Stainless Steel Flatware Set
What a great thing to make...Toddler sized flatware! My 3 yr. old daughter was so excited when I gave her all the flatware to set the table and she had her very own. Goodbye to all her baby flatware because she is a "BIG GIRL" now!I am so upset with this seller! These were purchased for my twins because they were claimed to be made in USA. They are made in Mexico! They didn't even come in the original box! They came in a cardboard box with the silverware wrapped in nothing but one piece of tissue paper. These were bought as a gift and I feel uncomfortable asking for a order # so that I can place a return. No one would ever spend $15 on a child's silverware set that they could simply buy for $3 at Walmart! I am a VERY upset customer and shame on this seller for misrepresenting this item! Le Creuset Stoneware Large Teapot with Stainless Steel Infuser, Fennel
I absolutely love the color and style of this teapot. I have only had it a couple of months but we use it almost every single day and it has held up very well. I especially love that it has an insert for loose tea. We have put the tea pot in the top rack of the dishwasher with no issues. I always wash the insert by hand since it seems pretty delicate. My only complaint is that it drips pretty badly when the tea is poured. I am not sure if the top just doesn't seal well or what. I have had this problem with many teapots and as a result I do not think this issue is unique to this particular item. Overall I would recommend this beautiful piece.Progressive International Set of 6 Chopping Mats
These aren't the most durable, but they do last through quite a few uses. The colors are cheerful, and they work fine. Their thin shape makes them easy to store. You can even curl them in your hands to make a sort of funnel to easily dump the chopped food into a pot. Nice item, and a bargain. And you can clean them in the dishwasher.Recommended, but with these limitations: (1) Because they are so thin, you don't want to put anything hot onto them -they will warp. (2) Because they are so light, they can slide around the counter. These limitations eventually made me switch to much more expensive, thick, rubber-footed cutting boards -but only after a long period using these with good results.I purchased these because they were highly recommended by Cooks Illustrated. The best chopping mats I've used to-date. Love the individual colored mats for fish, meat, veggies, etc.....helps avoid cross contamination. Will purchase sets for my children when they go out on their own.

These chopping mats are useless and a total waste of money. They curl on the sides so that they don't lie flat making them impossible to cut on. Do yourself a favor, buy one of these knives and start breaking down your own chickens. If you took apart just 2 whole chickens yourself as opposed to buying pieces at the store, this knife will pay for itself. If you enjoy cooking, it's a rewarding experience and you can use the carcass for homemade stock.I'm not trained or a professional cook I bought this knife after reading the America's Test Kitchen review and began buying whole chickens. After watching a few youtube videos (Andrew Zimmern's is my favorite), I grabbed my new knife and successfully took a chicken apart. After my second try, the breasts I removed look even better than the premium quality packaged breast meat from the supermarket.
The handle is large and textured so even when wet, the knife is easy to hold. The slight flex lets you work the knife up against bones and get the most meat off. The blade arrived sharp and is easily sharpened. It's the perfect tool for breaking down chickens, de-boning, fileting, and also removing silverskin from tenderloins and flank steak.
Fantastic product, one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. Don't buy an expensive forged boning knife!I am a hunter and I process the game I take myself. This boning knife was just what I needed to speed the process along. I recently processed a 100 lb. hog. The knife was flexible and narrow which allowed me to get the most from the bone. The handle was easy to grip. The blade held a good edge through the entire hog, I did not need to stop and steel the blade.
I used it the following week to process a deer with the same good experience.
At this great price how can you go wrong.

America's Test Kitchen recommended this boning knife and they were right. This knife is sharp straight out of the package. I used it the first time to cut the silver skin from some beef and it was so easy using this knife. The sharp point and long thin blade enabled me to get right under the silver skin and I did not cut into the meat itself. I was able to cut neatly and precisely where I wanted to due to the comfortable handle and sharp blade. Why pay a fortune for a boning knife when this one gets the job done quick and neat. Good job America's Test Kitchen and thanks R H Forschner for making another affordable but quality product.Read Best Reviews of Victorinox 47513 6-Inch Flex Boning Knife with Fibrox Handle Here
Had I known it was possible to fall in love with a set of knives, I would have given up my eharmony membership long ago. (Just kidding) I have a set of Calphalon Contemporary knives and thought they were great. After reading an online review at a reputable cooking site however, I bought this set for a friend. (Price to quality ratio was well-reviewed) OMG, everything you cut is like butta (except for butter itself which is like watta) Whether you buy the set or just the pieces you need, I cannot recommend these knives enough.Oh, and though I love them to much to do so, I believe they are dishwasher safe.

First, being a bit of a traditionalist, I much prefer a solidly crafted forged blade to a stamped one. But this knife was highly recommended by Cook's Illustrated, along with a number of other knives in this line. I was curious to see if such an inexpensive line of knives could compete with the very expensive knives which I am used to using. Since I was in the market for a boning knife I decided to order this knife to evaluate the Victorinox line. While it will vary from person to person, I find the handle slightly uncomfortable to hold. It seems a little bulky, especially for the application. On the other hand, the blade appears to be very well suited to the task at hand, and this may be an application in which a heavier forged blade is at some disadvantage. The blade is flexible, but not overly so. Initial sharpness is good, as is the blade shape. It has a good sharp tip for piercing silver skin.
I have only had this knife for a short time, and I look forward to seeing how it will hold up. Will it hold its edge? Will the tip break when it hits one bone too many? Will I ever get used to the clunky feeling handle? Time will tell, and I will share these things here as I learn them. But at this point I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for an inexpensive but effective boning knife. Over time I plan to try the rest of the knives in this line. It will be interesting to see if I can replace a $2000 set of knives with a $200 set and be happy with the change.
While I will never lose my love of the beauty and craftsmanship of a set of fine forged knives, Victorinox/Forschner is offering an interesting practical alternative to the "work of art" knives we have grown to love. Interestingly, All Clad cookware is facing a similar challenge from low cost multi-ply cookware.

Never had a decent chef's knife until I finally bought this based on reviews for it's cheapness and quality. Hitherto, I had an old cheap dull knife that could hardly even slice a raw potato. I had to strain to get the blade through. Then I got the Victorinox, and as I struggled to release it from it's vinyl sheath, it fell out and sliced my pinky finger. I was scared of this knife. It was the sharpest knife I ever handled. But oh man, I can't believe how effortless chopping/slicing can be. It practically will slice a potato by itself. I've had this knife for about 3 weeks and I'm still amazed when I chop up veggies and lament having been content with a crappy knife for so long.I don't know any better, but this knife impresses the hell out of me. Maybe knives that are 100-200 bucks do a better job, but it can't be that much better. The Victorinox does the job a knife is supposed to do cut food with ease. I also bought the matching steel sharpener which I use maybe once a week only because it's there, not because the knife is too dull to use.

The Kyoto Ceramic company makes all kinds of stuff out of ceramics. From circuit boards and transmitters in mobile phones to excellent writing pens with sturdy ceramic tips, they've got their brand of excellence in everything. Their entire line of ceramic knives is no different!Being hardened ceramic, this knife and its brethren cannot be rusted and the blade seems to stay sharper a lot longer because the edge doesn't need to be trued like steel. It's non-reactive to acids and bases and you can easily clean its surface with warm, soapy water. The weight balance and blade control are excellent and the knife seems to dance as it cuts. I am really impressed with the overall quality of the blade itself.
There is only one caveat, but it is a BIG one: the blade WILL chip if you are not careful! Cutting on surfaces other than cutting boards (i.e.-plates or pizza stones) can cause tiny chips in the edge. Improper sharpening (you should get a sharpener specific for a ceramic knife and use it exactly as instructed) and throwing the knife in drawers without a blade cover will also chip the blade edge. Dishwashing is a no-no, since the edge might be damaged, as well. If you get some chips or nicks, the blade will still cut, but the edge will slowly become serrated instead of smooth.
I recommend getting a proper sharpener, bamboo cutting board and blade guard for this or any other ceramic knife so that you can make the knife last for generations!
A good buy, overall, but only if you take care of it.I've tried traditionally made, good steel blades by Wusthoff and Henckel. I enjoy using those blades, and hate going back to cheap blades. As big a difference is between cheap metal blades to good metal blades, the difference between steel and ceramic is many times greater.
You'll spend the first week just wanting to find items to cut. It cuts effortlessly through everything. I found it best on things that are soft (or mushy) but where you still want precision. You can get detailed control with any type of uncooked meat (chicken breast). Dissecting tomatoes at any stage of ripeness is easy.
A couple notes of caution:
1. Watch your hands. I cut my finger with one of these blades. It was so sharp I didn't feel it at first.
2. Don't let beginners use. For the reason above primarily, but also because they'll try it in unattended ways that damage the blade.
3. Watch for chipping. The blade can be sharpened, but you want to be somewhat cautious. The tradeoff with an extremely hard blade is it becomes a little less malleable/more brittle.
Buy Kyocera Revolution Mini Santoku, 4-inch Now
This is a must for anyone who longs for a sharp knife. For many people this type of sharpness is unknown, and should be experienced
and enjoyed. Sharpening should be left to Kyocera, as they can do the best possible job, and this knife should only need to be sharpened about every 5-10 years based upon how often you use it. I agree with the chipping liability but this is a small price to pay to have an INCREDIBLE knife in the kitchen, be sure to keep your eyes on what you are slicing!

OXO Good Grips Locking Can Opener
I used to work in a cooking supply store, and I saw so many of these returned. The idea is great but the lock breaks way too easily. Most of the OXO Good Grips items are great, but they need to work on this one. If you want to risk it, get it.Last Xmas (1999) I bought my wife two of these. The locking mechanism broke on the first one in January of 2000. The locking mechanism on the second one broke in mid 2000. From what I'm reading in the other reviews, this is a common happening. From that part of it, the thing probably deserves 1 star. However, the thing still works as a can openener, even though the lock broke. Taken strictly on the can opener part of it, it's got a nice grip feels better than most can openers, but probably isn't worth the extra money.
Overall, it's just "OK". If you like the rest of the Oxo line, you'll probably like this although I bet your lock will break before too long, and it'll just be any other can opener then.

I bought this because it is simply good design. Best damn can opener until the plastic latching mechanism failed. Being a self-righteous designer who believes in buying good design I went out a bought another. Same thing happened.OXO is an excellent company with many good products -but the life expectancy of this puppy is less that a year. After having a mediocre electric can opener for years, I got the OXO locking opener at the store. At first it looked questionable... plastic handles, a little release button on one side. Then my friends and I opened a half dozen cans for a party the day after I bought it and it was like a hot knife through butter. Nobody complained about having "can duty" at all for a change. Once you click the handles together you just have to hold the can level so you don't spill no squeezing involved. The knob turns very easily, which was also a surprise. Never in a million years did I expect it to work this well. Even though it's marketed as the low end model of OXO can openers, I would highly recommend it. The higher end OXO models are just glitz for more $$.

Maybe in the Cutco sense of the word "sharp" where sawing motion somehow equates to a knive's razor-sharp cutting ability. These knives feel light and cheaply made. They perform equal to the way they feel in your hand.
Here are some tests I've done:
First was with some tomatoes. Each of the knives in this set had trouble breaking the skin while my 8" Victorinox and the pride & joy of my cutlery 10" Messermeister both sliced through the tomatoes like butter. The next test was with lemongrass. Each of the ZX Kitchen knives tore through the stems leaving splintered ends where again both the Victorinox and Messermeister did actual slicing. Final test: apples. I was sure the ZX Kitchen knives would get a passing grade with these but once again I was left disappointed. The ceramic knives had trouble breaking the skin of the apple.
Messermeister San Moritz Elite 10-Inch Chefs Knife
Victorinox Swiss Army 8-Inch Fibrox Straight Edge Chef's Knife
Sharp knives slice and dice while dull knives smash and tear. These are dull knives and would be overpriced at even $80 less considering how poorly they perform. I'm going to attempt to return them to get some ceramics from either Victorinox or Kyocera.
