We have 2 of these bags at work, and I love them!!! I take them to off-site catering events, and all of our chefs and servers know exactly what is in the "TC Kit" as well call it. I also send them with our chefs for smaller private chef events. Took it on the plane to Germany last year when we cooked at the Rheingau Food and Wein Festival. It held up fabulously through the flight and customs. It even got lost on the way back to the US, and when i did get it back, everything was in place, nothing missing, all compartments closed. I've checked other chef cases before on airplanes (i was a private chef and did tons of traveling). NOTHING has held up the same as this bag, and that I can easily take it from private chef dinners to 200 person events AND the airplane and have it work for what I need....totally worth every penny.I have owned a lot of bags in the past and this is the best bag I have owned so far. This bag is extremely sturdy and rugged. The wheels glide smooth and quiet over all surfaces including rough pavement. I love the functionality of the bag. It has pockets everywhere for everything. I could not recommend this bag more. You will not be disappointed.Sous Traveling Culinarist 2nd Edition

Kyocera Ceramic Santoku Knife-Pink - 5.5 Inch
I bought this knife for my wife, and even though it is increably sharp. I'm afraid that I may inadvertently break the blade by putting any side pressure on it. It hasn't done anything to make me suspect it might break, it just lingers in the back of my mind. That being said, it's easy to clean, can slice anything so thin you can see through it. I'm very pleased, just have to get past the thought of breakage.I have had knives which dull over time or are very heavy. This knife is so light and chops so well. Everytime someone comes over and uses it, they comment on how great of a knife it is. I want to buy another one because I use it that much. Ceramic is the way to go!Buy Kyocera Ceramic Santoku Knife-Pink - 5.5 Inch Now
I have had this knife for a long while...at least 4 years.....and it has worked beautifully for me. It has become the "go to" knife, meaning I pull it out of the rack most often for different type of food jobs. It is easy to clean and stays sharp. Just had many staying for Christmas and found the tip chipped. So I'll buy another soon.Read Best Reviews of Kyocera Ceramic Santoku Knife-Pink - 5.5 Inch Here
I am in love with these knives. They cut just about everything, they stay sharp, and are easy to clean. Unfortunately, if you aren't careful, they can break. My husband broke my first one in the garbage disposal and I recently broke my second one trying to pry apart two frozen hamburger patties. :( I almost cried, i'm that sad about loosing another one of these knives. I still recommend them highly am currently buying myself another one. I more than got my moneys' worth out of them. I don't use any other knife (even the henckels and wustoff knives i own).Want Kyocera Ceramic Santoku Knife-Pink - 5.5 Inch Discount?
Okay I admit it, I am a knife junky. I love knives. I can't resist the various blade thicknesses and the chime of the metal or the single molded steel. This knife manufacturer really did an outstanding job of making a lightweight knife that can cut through almost anything. It comes in an array of gorgeous colors and in the years I have had them (yes I have a few of them) I have never had to sharpen one. Pretty impressive since I own Henckels and have worn them out by sharpening. So go ahead, make that persons day and buy them a special color for a special occasion. They will remember and love you forever. I promise. Enjoy and Mangia BeneJ.A. Henckels Twin Cuisine 3 1/2-inch Kudamono Hollow Edge Parer
The blade is thin, and the handle is heavy for such a small knife. The shape of the blade is great, and the steel is great. If I had it to do over again, I would have went with the Shun Classic series, but this is still a very well made knife with great steel.Great, well balanced knife. I get much better control in peeling with this knife than your standard peeling knife. Henckels (from Germany, not International) has always had great quality knives. This particular set is a bit on the heavy side.Buy J.A. Henckels Twin Cuisine 3 1/2-inch Kudamono Hollow Edge Parer Now
Picnic Time Fontina 20-Inch Cheese Board/Tool Set
After looking at several cheese board/serving trays on line, I landed on this one and am so glad I did. This was a gift for my cheese-loving husband-I figured he'd use it to serve on when company comes, but he also loves it just for personal use! The compartments are the perfect size for crackers, nuts, snacks, and the removable cheese board is big enough for a couple of cheeses. The quality is lovely: sturdy with a smooth finish, and the included cheese knife stays in place with a small magnet. Perfect gift for someone who likes to entertain, or for someone to use as a personal "snack tray."This is a great product. The wood was quality and the knife too! I gave it as a gift so was very pleased with it, The receiver was too! the shipping was very timely also!J.A. Henckels Couteau Series 10-piece Forged Knife Set
These knives have a number of features that set them above the cheap knives that most people accumulate in their early years of independence. They are made of good steel, so they hold an edge well. They cover the gamut of needs, from bread slicing to meat carving to full on chopping. They have a large bolster, which helps the balance and heft of the knives. For the price, they are a very good purchase for anyone who is furnishing their first solo kitchen. The only thing about the set I really don't like is that the chef's knife isn't quite tall enough for good chopping. When looking for chef's knives, one should check so see if they can perform the orbital chopping movement without their knuckles coming close to the cutting board. The 8" chef in this set will barely pass this test for a medium-sized handed person.I received these as a gift from my BF for Christmas. Let me tell you, I did not KNOW that I was torturing myself with such awful knives until I used these! I've had them for a year now and they've held their edge thus far. They are really easy to clean (NEVER put your knives in the dishwasher, they will dull!), and I dry them completely before putting them back in the knife block. Ready some reviews on Costco about rust problems, but I haven't had any yet. Take good care of these knives and they will be good to you!Only a few cons:
I rarely use the vegetable knife or the carving knife
My knuckles come really close to the cutting board when using the chef's knife (my hands are small-medium sized). Therefore I prefer using the Santoku for most tasks.
Great value, you will love these knives!

Both knives are razor sharp. Great balance and heft. The kudamono knife (3-inch) will even slice easily through a large carrot. These knives are built to last. (I've had my other ones for probably 20 years) The 7" knife is far superior to the regular chef's knife, too. My new favorite knives, for sure! With so many foreign "knock-off" high-end articles it is good to read the comments of others who made the mistake and purchased a knock-off. Well, you pay for way you get, and I paid a lot for their wonderful knives; I've am amature chef, so I appreciate quality knives and have had a very nice set for 20 years, but never the ones with the bevels in the sides, basically making whatever you slice just fall away with little or no effort. PullParrot Red Corkscrew w/ Contoured Steel Handle Inc Double Boot Lever,Serrated Knife Blade And T
I've tried a lot of corkscrews over the years. All kinds, from the Ah-So, to the Screwpull, to the Rabbit etc. etc.I was drawn to the 'automatic' extractors like the Screwpull and their Chinese knock-offs because they seemed quick and easy to use. And for a while they are, but with the new kinds of corks their teflon coating deteriorates and very soon they break.
Plus after the novelty wears off, you look like a nerd opening a bottle of wine.
I did have a number of 'manual' corkscrews that LOOK like the PullParrot, with a 2-stage kind of opening design. But in fact the 'first stage' doesn't really work right, and they essentially only have 'one stage'.
If you look closely at the design you will see the little gizmo halfway down from the 'beak' that is the first stage of the cork extraction. It's got a little spring that moves the gizmo in and out. This is what distinguishes the design from the look-a-likes, which have a single molded in 2-stage stop, that don't really work.
To use the corkscrew, start with a few turns into the cork. Then push out the little spring mounted gizmo, and pull the cork out a little bit. Then let the gizmo retract, re-seat the corkscrew with its main ledge on the top of the bottle and continue the extraction.
The next time you are in a restaurant, look closely and you will see that EVERY waiter in every restaurant uses a corkscrew with this design.
Once you start using this, you will NEVER go back to the big fancy corkscrews.

Architec Gripperwood Hardwood Cutting Board, 8 by 11-Inch
I felt I took a chance buying this board with no picture and no reviews to tell me if it was good, or if it was what I wanted. Well, I was pleasantly surprised, it was exactly what I wanted. It has non-slip gripper pads on each corner to keep it up off the counter, and to keep it securely in place. It has a very large cutting area (almost too big for my counter space), even with the grooves around the edges to capture juices. It is very sturdy and made of a nice quality wood. Overall a very nice and inexpensive board.ORIGINAL 2/17/09: I purchased this cutting board almost two years ago and have loved having such a large work surface, and I prefer wood boards over plastic so I was glad to find this size at such a good price. At first I loved the feet kept the board in place, even with rigorous chopping. However, right now, the middle sags to the point that the board rocks when sat on the counter. Could it be from overexposure to water, like when my husband thought it should soak like our pots and pans do? Sure. It could also just be a flaw of the design, with a heavy wood board not properly supported in the center. Hard to say. Either way, I will probably not buy any cutting board with feet again. If you are solely looking for a cutting board that will not move around on your counter, just buy a roll of grippy (but not adhesive) shelf liner and cut a swatch to slip between your non-footed cutting board and your counter it keeps the board in place, and you can fold it up and shove it in your drawer when you're done using your board.EDIT 2/22/13: I bumped up my review to 5 stars from my original review of 3. I have continued using this cutting board for the past 3 years. I do not notice the rocking anymore, but it was stored for about 9-10 months without any use shortly after my original review. Not sure if it flattened back out during that time seems ridiculous to think that, but the board really does seem flatter than it used to. Anyway, I have been treating it with mineral oil every few months and it is holding up very well, even with near daily use.
I love the size, and love the fact that it is easy enough (size and weight) to store in my cabinet when not using it (I had purchased a 2" thick, very heavy 20x24 cutting board to replace this one, but didn't like leaving it out and it didn't fit in my cabinet). Overall I am very pleased with the Architec board and I would recommend it to others. Just don't soak it in water and you should be fine!

The cutting board is raised from the surface by the rubber grippers. The one I got was broken within a day. Not sure if it arrived that way or if maybe it broke after we used it once. The center really needs support; perhaps with another strategically placed gripper. More protection when shipping may also be in order.Want Architec Gripperwood Hardwood Cutting Board, 8 by 11-Inch Discount?
Pass on this product.....I bought this for my wife for her birthday on Oct 6. The board arrived promptly and good condition...kudos for amazon. The appearance was like I expected and she was excited. We used the board a few times for steak, chicken, a turkey and it worked fine.Hand washed. Split within the month. Crud. The old adage of "you get what you pay for" certainly is applicable here. Now I have to buy another one. I will certainly pay up to get quality that will last.
10" Magnetic Knife Holder by RSVP International
I had a very limited space for the holder: the side of a cabinet above the kitchen sink. This knife holder fit perfectly. The magnets are strong enough that I trust my $140 Shun chef's knife to it but not so strong that it's a chore taking the knife down. Very sturdy, very easy to install overall a perfect choice for my needs.Needed 10" rack. This is perfect. Magnetic contact strips are not co-planar.IE the knives don't touch all four contact points, always touch 2 points, usually 3 points. Seems adequate, knives attach strongly to the strip.Buy 10" Magnetic Knife Holder by RSVP International Now

I've used other magnetic knife bars before and have NEVER had this problem.I ordered 3 of the RSVP 10" magnetic knife holders. On all three of them, there were severe manufacturing defects that prevent the four magnetic bars from lining up with one another. If the bars don't line up, the knife isn't supported well on the wall, often only held by 2 of the bars instead of four. This results in the knife being barely held to the wall.
I hoped that it was a problem with just one or two of them, so I ordered three total. All of them were bad, some of them were worse than others.
Terrible knife bar. I suggest a different model!
I'm returning mine...

This apple corer is very nicely made ... stainless steel blades embedded in aluminum handle. Two minor complaints:
1) Made in China (I prefer to buy U.S. built products whenever possible)
2) center hole for apple core is a little small. Even if perfectly centered on apple, I occasionally have to dig out pieces of apple seed from the apple segments.I've tried many of these slicers and the plastic ones will usually break st the handles after some use. This one is made from cast iron and is solid all the way you can feel the difference just by picking it and it has a protective blade cover. I've been very pleased.

This is a sturdy, well-made cutter. The extra wide handles also help in forcing through a large apple. I purchased this product to replace a plastic-rimmed apple cutter, and this one is far superior. It is definitely worth the few extra dollars.Read Best Reviews of Amco Clean Cut Apple Corer Here
This apple corer is very well made; maybe a little too well made. The blades are very thick and not as sharp as I would have expected. When coring an apple you need to push down very hard and fast. It definitely slices and cores, but it spits apple juice all over the counter and into my face.I can't complain about the quality or the function, but it is a little messy.I chose to buy the Amco because it was made completely from metal and not plastic. It requires some force to use, but it slices well. If the apple is not uniform, you may have to trim some seeds. Overall, I am happy with the purchase because my kids want to eat more apples now that we have this corer.
Chicago Cutlery Insignia2 3-Piece Knife Set
Very good knives at a very good price. Like similar, higher priced knives, hand washing is recommended. Chicago Cutlery merits consideration if you're in the market for these better quality knives. The knives work fine. The polymer grips makes the knifes feel light weight. The edge on the blades are sharp, but rough. It looks like a low grit grind. It can cut paper, but the sound is of a blade that is sawing through the paper rather than slicing. I'm not a great or even good edge sharpner, but I was able to put a cleaner edge on the blade with some whetstones. The longer paring knife had an odd irregular shape to it. It just might be quality control of cheaper blades letting less than perfect items through. I only really noticed it because I sharpened the knives.I do like the fact they included reusable transport/storage sleaves.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Pure Multi-Grater Set
I was skeptical of purchasing this since there weren't any reviews yet, but I'm glad I did. I own other Henckels kitchen gadgets and have been satisfied with them. This grater is sturdy and comes with an additional grate grid (one is for a fine shred and one is for a medium, coarser shred) that can be popped off the handle base. I worried that because the grid can be popped off the handle, that it might not be sturdy. But it is, and I had no reason to worry. It grates a hard block of parmesan like a dream, and washes up easily in the dishwasher.
The only drawback is that the weight of the handle is almost too heavy. When rested across the top of a smaller bowl, the weight of the handle will tip the bowl over. But I wouldn't let that stop me from purchasing this again.Very nice looking grater with two attachments, does what it's intended to do. Item arrived on time with no complaints.

This is the perfect silverware set. I looked at several different sets and this one won out. It has slender but balanced handles so 2 sets fit nicely in my silverware drawer. This is the first one star review I've written. I was so excited to buy new flatware. Reed and Barton is a well known brand. We still have the hammered antique 18/8 from 20 years ago when we got married and I still love it so I thought I could trust the brand. I wanted an every day set and thought this was nice and the price was great. I didn't expect the quality of the more expensive end of the line and I don't have a problem with the lighter weight. Opening the box I thought that the tines of the forks looked pretty delicate but that didn't bother me so much. I washed them all at once before using them and as I gathered a small bunch to rinse, I got a fairly deep slash on my finger! It was not from the knife so it could only be from a fork. Examining the forks more closely (and I did not check each fork but checked a bunch) I ran my fingers along the tines at different angles and found they have a sharp edge that can catch skin. What? A fork that you put in your mouth that has parts that cut? That is unacceptable by any standards. I was so looking forward to having this set but this flaw is too disappointing. Of course I can not recommend this line. In fact, unfortunately, the opposite. I recommend that you look for something else.Edit: I want to note that I wrote Reed and Barton and their response was very fast and helpful. I'll edit this review when safe forks replace the cutting forks.
Edit 2: The company could not replace the forks and I was asked to pick a new pattern. I chose to upgrade to a heavier pattern and we love it. Kudos to Reed and Barton for standing behind their product. I still give this set a low rating but R & B gets five stars.

Classic 4.5" S-11 serrated/fine edge combo utility knife
The quality of the knife is excellent -no complaint there. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because the handle feels a little small in my hand. I am a man with a medium sized hand -about 3 3/4 inches across the palm. It probably would be perfect for most women, but I personally would prefer a little bulkier handle. Knife is sharp as a razor, and the serration works really well for peeling tomatoes.I am not a knife expert, nor a chef, but this knife goes a long way towards making food preparation more enjoyable, I am happy with this purchase. I like the weight, the feel in my hand, and it's attractive. The length is perfect for small jobs, and it's sharp. I haven't found as much need for the serrated end as I thought I might, though I expect it will come in handy from time to time. I've had the knife for a couple weeks & use it daily. I've used it mostly for fruit and vegetable preparation. I only hand wash & dry this knife, so far it's retaining it's good looks. I am curious to see how well it holds up long term and am also curious as to any unique requirements for sharpening the combo blade when the time comes.Buy Classic 4.5" S-11 serrated/fine edge combo utility knife Now

I had seen this knife in a catalog, and thought: "What a neat idea -a longish paring knife with a bit of serration at the bolster end." But it was too much money. As soon as Amazon.com had it on special, I grabbed it. It is ideal for slicing tomatoes, peaches, cucumbers, etc. Any soft fruit or vegetable with a skin tougher than the flesh; the serrations start the cut, and the smooth portion of the knife finishes the cut.Want Classic 4.5" S-11 serrated/fine edge combo utility knife Discount?
