Ikea 36 Pcs Kalas Kids Plastic BPA Free Flatware, Bowl, Plate, Tumbler Set, Colorful

Ikea 36 Pcs Kalas Kids Plastic BPA Free Flatware, Bowl, Plate, Tumbler Set, ColorfulLike most people with toddlers, my cupboards were overflowing with mismatched dishes. I had to do something, and after reading the reviews i was attracted to these primarily because they are microwave safe. Now that I have them, I couldn't be happier. The colors are bright and fun. The dishes are the perfect size. The flatware is big enough that she will be able to use it for years to come, the spoons actually hold food, the forks easily grab onto things, and the handles are thick enough for little hands to hold. The lip on the plates help keep everything on the plate when she is digging in, and the little cups are short enough that I don't worry about her knocking them over. Best of allthey all stack!! Great buyin fact, I might grab another set to give as a gift!

I bought this set for myself to take to work to use for lunch. It's just the right size for smaller meals, so is not just for kids. The colors are cheerful and the set is heavy enough that I believe it will be very durable.

I have bought a few other kids plates and cups over the years and these are by far the sturdiest. The plastic is very thick and sturdy. I am very impressed. My kids are 2,4,6 and they love to pick the colors that they are going to eat with.

I absolutely love these! My daughter is one and a half and she can use them! They are a little large for her but the forks actually keep food on the spokes, they are a bit pointy but very kid friendly. They're super sturdy, non of this flimsy plastic crap. Love love love them.

I haven't had these very long but they seem to be wearing well (they haven't stained or turned white in spots from the microwave/dishwasher). The large handles make it easier for kids to use and the mix and match colors are fun. For the price I paid and the amount of stuff I got, I have no regrets. Very good purchase.

Bodum Bistro Ceramic 9 cm 3-1/2-Inch Fresh Cheese Knife

Bodum Bistro Ceramic 9 cm 3-1/2-Inch Fresh Cheese Knife, GreenThis Bodum Bistro Creamic knife is for fresh soft cheese like Cream Cheese, Feta, Roquefort. It will not stand up to hard cheeses like Gouda. It does the job it was made for very well, and as a benefit it doesn't pass on any metalic flavors to the cheese. I love mine!

The knife handler broke internally while cutting a small piece of gouda cheese. I probably used this knife 5 or 6 times.

Oggi Pro Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cocktail Shaker and Bar Tool Set

Oggi Pro Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cocktail Shaker and Bar Tool SetI ended up sending this back.

The knife didn't cut at all and the shaker didn't seal well.

Overall I thought it wasn't great quality.

I think if you are young and just want something to get by this would do it.

However, if you are looking for something substantial and classier looking... this isn't it.

I love the way this set looks on my bar. Classic. The shaker is the style I wanted, it leaks once in a while, but I think it is more me than the shaker. I have found it is best to keep it more upright when you shake, then it doesn't leak. It is great how the set includes all the basic tools and has a place for everything. I thought the price was a deal as well. The details do not specify it but the jigger is a 1 oz. / 2 oz. jigger. Overall, very satisfied.

The shaker is not of the best design, but it gets the job done. It has everything you could possibly need to get a home bar going at a reasonable price. The components are all made using high quality materials and everything is durable.

I expected something a little nicer but it is a decent deal for the money. Knife wont really cut anything and the shaker will leak sometimes but not very often. Kind of nice to have everything in a set and readily available.

Want Oggi Pro Stainless-Steel 10-Piece Cocktail Shaker and Bar Tool Set Discount?

We received this set as a wedding shower gift, and thought it looked very spiffy on our little home bar. The problem is, the shaker leaked like crazy! Anytime you tried to shake a cocktail in it, liquid would spray all over the kitchen. We wanted to give the shaker one more try, figuring maybe we didn't create the seal properly, but this time...the two pieces were stuck together completely and would not come apart! AND IT STILL LEAKED.

We both tried forever to get the thing open (my husband's no small guy, and he couldn't do it either) but finally we gave up and threw it in the trash. The other pieces that come with this set are fine, and the shaker stand now holds our old, mis-matched cocktail shaker. But what good is the set if the most important piece is a dud?

Messermeister Meridian Elite 3-Piece What a Steel Knife Set

Messermeister Meridian Elite 3-Piece What a Steel Knife SetThis is the second set of these knives I've purchased this one as a gift for my son. These are excellent knives that hold their edge well and respond to honing quickly. Much better than other brands I've tried.

The Messermeister knife set is a good choice for someone who needs that big and small knife in their kitchen. The sharpening steel is really handy to give your knives that touch up when they seem a little dull. I use it with my other knives as well. I was, however, slightly disappointed that the Messermeister knives didn't hold their edge as well as I thought they would and it's not like I cut through tough stuff. I use them mostly for vegetables and sometimes trimming meat. The handles feel good and are of quality workmanship but I do wish the handle on the small knife were a little bigger around for better grip.

All in all I am pleased with the set.

Wsthof Classic 8-Piece Knife Set in Block

Wsthof Classic 8-Piece Knife Set in BlockI recently became a homeowner and decided a "decent" set of knives was needed. I'm no chef, so I never really tried good knives--old cheap ones were what was available at the places I lived and that's what I used. Now, I can't imagine trying to cook and not using good steal like this! They feel great in my hand and I never struggle to accomplish any task in the kitchen.

Buying advice: Amazon sells this set for $299 like everybody else. You can get them for that price almost anywhere. So use a coupon and get a discount from the $299 price elsewhere. I used a 20% off coupon at Bed, Bath & Beyond and ended up getting this great set for $240! I like Amazon but not enough to give them $60 for nothing.

EDIT, Jan. 3, 2011: 6 years later, now that this is $350, I would say that after 6 years of use, I am still totally satisfied and would not hesitate to spend $350 to get this today. Although I may upgrade eventually, I have no reason to think these knives won't last a lifetime.

Until you cut with a Wusthof knife, you cannot comprehend what knives are supposed to perform like. Essentially, these are profoundly heavy straight edge razor blades. Everything they go through melts like butter. Chopping vegetables with them is actually a soothing, zen like experience. I've tried other knives, but none have come close to the precision of Wusthof. The way they feel in your hands, their weight, their amazing balance, is really the mark of flawless German engineering. Think driving a beat up Chevy on a gravel road versus driving a brand new Benz on the autobahn. Get them. Have them professionally sharpened once a year. I guarantee you, if your home goes up in flames, you'll run back in to get them.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 4-Piece Steak Set

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 4-Piece Steak SetExtrordinarily sharp knife set. I was able to cut clean through a steak just by holding the tail end of the knife between finger and thumb and letting the weight of the knife do the cutting. They aren't serrated because they don't need to be.

If you drop one do NOT try to catch it, and be careful cleaning as they'll happily shred sponges, cloths and dish brushes too.

After doing a lot of research on the different types of steak knives, I decided to pay the extra $ and buy this set. Let me tell you...totally worth it! Yes, they aren't cheap but I can almost guarantee you that you'll never have to buy another set for a VERY long time. Just an FYI, never buy serated steak knives...completely defeats the purpose. They just shred up the meat as you cut into it. I tried these knives for the first time a few weeks ago. I made stuffed pork chops and these bad boys are so sharp and smooth I simply used one stroke when cutting through the pork chop and that was it! It was so easy!!!! No need to sit there and cut back and forth multiple times to cut through a piece of meat. I can't say anything bad about this product. Well, the only thing I could say that I'm a bit sad that when I opened up the package there wasn't the Zwilling JA Henckels logo on the side of the handle like there is on the image above. However, the base of the handle has a metal cap and the logo. I just would have liked to see the color logo and name on the side of the handle like it shows in the picture. Yes, a stupid thing to cry about but I'm over it. =) I may have to go and buy another set of these steak knives to get me to 8!

Buy Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star II 4-Piece Steak Set Now

Don't get me wrong, these are wonderfully sharp blades and they will last you a lifetime if you sharpen them correctly--for that they deserve a five star rating. But, the shape of the blades is a personal preference and should be taken into consideration before you make a life-long commitment.

Maybe it won't matter to you if you're buying a good set of knives for the first time, but I have owned the classic shape for a long time and I like that shape better. The difference? On these blades, do you see how the blade curves down from the tip, then follows that curve for about two-thirds of the blade, then tapers in a bit? That's what I have a problem with--the little tapering in, then tapering back out to "meet" the hilt. On the classic shape the blade does not make that little inversion before finishing off.

Regarding Henckels and regarding the expense? You cannot go wrong with Henckels and it IS A VERY GOOD DECISION to go for the more expensive knives. If you are looking at less expensive blades, remember: "You don't get something for nothing" and "You get as good as you give"! Look at your budget and spend a little MORE than you think you should....I believe you'll be happier down the road.

It's always nice to actually hold a knife and get a feel for it before making it yours, but the return policy is so easy here that it's worth taking a chance.

I still can't believe the price I paid for these. Incredible deal for some super sharp knives. I was using my pairing knife and 5 inch serrated knife to eat with as the cheap steak knives I had sucked. After these arrived, I washed them and bought some beef to test them out. All I can say is WOW! So sharp, and a pleasure to hold in my hand. My wife loved using the knife also. Even at the current price, I would say these are a buy. An absolute pleasure to use.

X50CrMoV15 German steel. Very stain resistant. Other than that not much to speak of. The cryptic X50CrMoV15 stands for 0.5% carbon, the other 15% is composed of 14% or 14.5% of Cr, some Mo and V. I don't know who in German marketing came up with the idea to use X for Carbon, in periodic table it's C. 0.5% C content means, by definition X50CrMoV15 isn't a high carbon steel, despite of some marketing claims. In fact it has less C content compared to 440C steel. However, it's plenty tough and resists corrosion well. If you don't want to bother maintaining your knives this is a good choice. Except for the low edge holding ability of course. In the end, you end up sharpening it a lot more often, so low maintenance statement is really arguable. Used by Wusthof, Victorinix and others in their high end knives. Ref X50CrMoV15 Steel Composition.

HRC 55: Very hard steel (e.g. a higher quality knife blade): ( Hardened High Speed Carbon and Tool Steels such as M2, W2, O1, and D2, as well as many of the newer powder metallurgy Stainless Steels such as S30V, 154CM, CPM-M4, ZDP-189 , etc.

downside: made in China, but Hey, for the price and the German material, is not a big deal, as long as you sharpen it once received, for sharpening advise check

I love this knife.[period]

I work with knives all day and night. This is a "best buy" for any person who wants a good knife... I have had this knife for three years. I have sharpened it only once. Between, beef bones, chicken bones, veal, pork, mutton and allot of vegetables, it comes out clean and sharp. Something about the Cro Vd steel just makes it a joy.

It's balance is better than any Global of the same type , and really does hold it's edge very well . The silicone gripe is actually better than most pro grips.

I'm saying buy this knife... after three years of use and abuse , I reach in the drawer and choose it every time. This knife is a great for anybody who cooks ...

p.s. I wrote this while buying one for my girl friend, she loved it so much that I had to buy another...

I bought a paring knife from Norpro based on the reasonable price and nice weight of the handle. Next tried the smaller Santoku which was wonderful. The grooves help the blade go through more smoothly. Many knives which are more expensive than this do not have good balance and feel. The weighting of the handle is perfect. I love all 3 of the KLEVE knives I have. After 6 months (and buy a magnetic hanging rack so they don't get dull in a drawer) they are all still sharp with no sharpening yet! Wonderful and very nicely priced!

Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich Knife

Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich KnifeI just added this knife to my Wusthof collection. I arrived extremely sharp, and is nice for semi-fine work. Activities like dicing shallots, which are too small for a large 8 inch knife and to big for a paring knife, are nice with this knife. Be careful though, the tip of the blade is quite thin, and will not stand up to abuse.

My old favorite for almost 30 years was the 6" chef's knife until this one moved in a year ago.

One reviewer opined that the 4" and 8" blades take care of either end of the spectrum, so who needs this knife? Me. Think of it as a broad spectrum knife! I use it and skip the 4" and 8" knives. Even though the other knives are available, this is the one I go for most of the time. I also prefer it to our beautiful Santoku knife.

Another reviewer thought it too expensive. Well, not when it's my favorite knife! It's a comfortable and capable tool, with an edge that won't quit. The shape, length and weight of this slightly slimmer blade as well as the overall balance in my hand are perfect for me.

Buy Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich Knife Now

There are really two main competitors in the high-end mainstream kitchen knife market: Henckels and Wusthof. Those who have used both usually have a preference. My preference (and therefore bias you should know about) is for the Wusthofs.

The Wusthof Classic line is the more conservative counterpart to the Grand Prix line. The only difference, however, is the handle style. I personally prefer the Grand Prix, but this is an issue of personal preference. The balance and grip of these knives are as close to perfect as I have found. For those wondering what benefits a higher priced knife provides, one benefit is that the blade (or tang) is one piece all the way through the handle. This makes the blade much stronger, and less likely to snap.

This particular model is the 6 inch sandwich knife. I don't find this knife to be particularly useful in everyday usage. The 8 inch chef's knife, or 4 ½ inch utility knife work just fine for jobs on either end of the spectrum. Do you really need this expensive of a knife to cut baloney? I don't.

Don't get me wrong; this is a good high quality knife. However, for the mainstream chef, I think its usage will be minimal, and thus it is overkill.

Read Best Reviews of Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich Knife Here

My most used knife in the kitchen in my Wusthof 4" paring knife. The next most used knife is my Wusthof 6 3/8" Sandwich knife. This knife stays incredably sharp. It's blade is thinner than most other knives in its size, including the Henkle. The blade taper starts almost from the very edge. These two factors helps it slice through what you are cutting easier that thicker knives. I have found the blade thickness to be a very big factor when cutting. I have Henkle knives also, but they do not hold their edge anywhere as long as my Wuthof knives. My teenage kids refer to this Wusthof knife as the "death knife" because it is always so sharp, and scarry to them. I use it for cutting bread (works better than a serrated knife), vegtables, mellons, and carving meats. The only use I have for my 8" knife is lettuce and carving turkeys. I get much more use out of this 6" knife. I never use my knives as a screew driver or to pry anything, so the thinness is not a problem. Wusthof knives last a life time and are worth every cent you pay for them.

Want Wusthof Classic 6-Inch Sandwich Knife Discount?

I bought this knife for my dad a few weeks ago (for fathers' day). He uses it almost exclusively in place of his older knives now! The 6-inch design is a perfect length for almost any job, too.

When I was researching, a good number of people said that it was not multi-functional enough to be worth the price. I found that the knife definitely has some things it does better than others, but it still does a fine job cutting vegetables; the taller blade does optimize it for sandwiches and such, but does great with many utility knife jobs.

YOSHIHIRO- Shiroko-Kasumi Yanagi Sashimi Knife Octagonal Shitan Handle 11.7" (300mm)

YOSHIHIRO- Shiroko-Kasumi Yanagi Sashimi Knife Octagonal Shitan Handle 11.7'I just finally got a chance to sit down and sing my praises to this product. I am one of the only 2 "white boy" rollers at my sushi bar and all of the other chefs, myself included have been amazed by the quality of the knife and its ability to hold an edge through 2 entire 8 hour shifts. compared to my previous knife this blade is at least 45% lighter, preventing fatigue and making most of my other cutlery feel like boat anchors. All-in-all excellent knife and beautiful craftsmanship.

There's really not much I can complain about this product. I was in the market for a sushi knife to be used everyday as I work long hours. After shopping around and constantly changing my mind I ended up picking this one because the rosewood handle caught my eye. I even did my research on different knives I was consider buying. I actually ordered a 10.5" Yoshihiro yanagi similar to this one, but with a Water Buffalo Horn / Magnolia handle, but canceled that order right away after discovering this product. I love the sharpness of the product right out of the packaging and consistently stays sharp for a good amount of time before having to sharpen it on a whetstone. I recommend you do pay attention to the knife care and use the tsubaki oil they provide so the product doesn't rust. I really enjoy the weight and balance of the knife, considering it's 11.7 inches. The handle feels solid and the etching on the knife is flawless. I plan on using this product everyday, and wanted something that I could be proud of using.

I would recommend this product to anybody looking for a sashimi yanagi. Although if you are a beginner a shorter length would be better.

I have more knives than my old block could accommodate. I've been searching for a block. But every one I've seen in my local market were part of a knife set. I was really pleased to find this one at Amazon. It is a nice quality item. Heavy and sure. The slots are long enough to cover all the blades and a sharpening steel. None of the knife blades extend the length of the block. I originally thought the price was too steep; but , after checking with other online retailers realized that it was the best price on the market. If a knife block is all you need this is an excellent item. There is also a larger 20 slot version if you require storage for a set of steak knives.

Progressive International Set of 4 Chopping Mats

Progressive International Set of 4 Chopping MatsPrevious to purchasing this set of chopping mats, I had one fairly large chopping block and one quite small chopping block (both porous) which seemed to always be dirty. If they weren't dirty, I needed to cut all the vegetables before I cut any meat, and I'm not always that organized. These solve the problems, don't stain, and hang neatly on a nail inside my pantry. The flexibility is an added plus, as vegetables and meats can be swept into pots/pans of any size with ease.

These are handy mats that don't take up too much space, and the quantity of mats saves me the chore of having to wash the sole cutting board I used to have every night after dinner. They're also a good large size, which I like.

The main drawback is that the edges of these things curl a lot. I've tried flattening them under cookie sheets and heavy pots, but even after a couple years they still curl, which occasionally makes chopping awkward and messy. I've since bought mats that stay perfectly flat from Sur la Table, and which have a grippy silicone side to keep them from sliding around on the counter, and I'm much happier with those.

Bottom line: they're okay, and I use them, but I'd probably recommend something else.

Buy Progressive International Set of 4 Chopping Mats Now

We don't use these color-coded chopping mats to separate our meat and vegetables. Our extended family gets together every week for make-your-own-sushi dinner, which can be messy. We use these reasonably priced chopping mats in lieu of plates. We each have our own mat on which to construct and cut our sushi roll using very sharp knives -which do not leave any visible scratches on the mats. The mats clean easily and take little storage space. We wash and dry the mats by hand so haven't experienced curling problems mentioned by others. The hole at the edge of each mat is perfect for storage on a hook or nail in the pantry or cupboard. Several sets of these mats have really taken all the mess out of what used to be a rather messy process.

These are great. You can chop more than one thing at a time, and the flexibility allows you to bend it up and slide it straight into the pot. These are just heavy enough to be durable but still very flexible.

Be prepared for these to curl up after the first pass through the dishwasher. It's not a complete nuisance, but it can be a little annoying.

They curl to approximately the arc of a hula hoop not quite a burrito, but certainly not flat.

Also, the photo (due to the corner of the red mat being folded up), makes these appear to be a floppier, silicon-like material, but they are actually a semi-rigid plastic.

All in all, at ~2 bucks apiece, they'll do the job, and I won't feel bad when I toss them in a year or so.

Mercer Cutlery Renaissance 7" Santoku Knife

Mercer Cutlery Renaissance 7' Santoku KnifeThis knife is very sharp. Excellent cutting from any angle. The grip feels very comfortable. I am gled I stepped up to this Mercer, it's definitely worth the little extra for the larger benefit.

I received this knife as a gift a couple of months ago and it has become my new go to knife for just about everything. About once a week I cut up whole chickens to BBQ. This knife is perfect for that task. I have an old set of Chicago Cutlery that I keep in good condition but nothing in that set compare with this Mercer. Maybe because its newer and the technology is now more advanced than the older CC knives but this Mercer has a much better feel and it appears to keep a sharper edge. Looking forward to buying a couple more Mercer pieces that will complement this 7 inch.

Wusthof 15-Slot Knife Block

Wusthof 15-Slot Knife BlockThe box says "Made in Germany" but the block itself is labeled "Made in China". This is not a big deal since it is just the block and not the crazy expensive German-made knives; it's just a surprise to see the contradiction on a product. There is also some slight wood mold on the bottom part of the block but it doesn't hurt the aesthetics (which is why I got this). I got what I paid for, which is a typical $40 -$80 knife block for $30. I'm not a knife block connoisseur, I just needed something to put my knives in and that's exactly what I got.

Block has 15 slots as described although picture showed only 13. The 2 extra slots are handy, other wise the product looks just like the picture. Very pleased with purchase. Looks great on the counter and helps to organize a nice collection of very sharp knives.

Attractive wood grain and solidly made. Arrived very promptly (with in two days) from the supplier.

After cutting my food to prepare an entire meal, my hand, wrists, and arm still feel comfortable.

However, this knife is not as sharp as I would like. It is definitely better than bargain knives you can find in the $10 range but you can sometimes tell that it is not as sharp as you would ideally want in a perfect knife.

1 small nit is that packaging says "Santuko" and not Santoku

It's almost as good as a much more expensive knife my sister has. It does a good job chopping vegetables for salads/recipes.

2-Piece 12" x 15" Flexible Food Chopping Cutting Mats

2-Piece 12' x 15' Flexible Food Chopping Cutting MatsThe product itself looks like it'd be great if I bought it from a store, but the boards were folded in half when they were sent. Now they have ugly creases in the middle, which I don't mind as much as the fact that the boards cannot flatten out anymore!! A non-flat board means food rolling either to the center of the board if I use it concave side up, or worse, off it if I flip it over. Highly annoying.

I bought these to take camping. I liked the cheap price and that they are lightweight and can be rolled up. I like them so much that I use them daily at home. I keep several tucked behind the knife block. The mats do show scoring from slicing on them, but I don't view that as a problem.

I got a set of these chopping mats recently, and I am loving them! They are a great size for most kitchen tasks. I love the flexibility of the mats when transferring food into a bowl or cooking pot. Since they come in a pack of 3, I always have a clean one! They wash up beautifully in the sink or dishwasher!3-Piece 12" x 15" Flexible Food Chopping Mats

Absolutely love these flexible mats. They are almost invisible on the counter, you can cut your onions, veggies, what ever, pick up the mat and slide it into to pan to be cooked. So easy. And they wash up quickly, too

Guy Fieri All Skin Peeler, Black

Guy Fieri All Skin Peeler, BlackI hate peeling veggies. My hand usually cramps up and the blades are dull. This peeler is the best one I've ever used. It glides along like butter with very little effort and is super comfortable to hold.

Not nearly as well-made as the knives in this series. Damn sharp though. First time I used it I peeled the tip of my thumb off. Why does a peeler need to be serrated, anyway?
