Diamond Cut Supreme 2pc Kitchen Shear Set

Diamond Cut Supreme 2pc Kitchen Shear SetWe seem to go through kitchen shears like they are paper towels in this house, but these have lasted and lasted. They are sharp and the added jar openers are an added bonus. They cut up crab legs and chicken with ease.

We kept losing our expensive kitchen shears when children would run off with them for various projects, so I decided to get this pair of expendable kitchen shears. They are more cheaply made than I expected but do work.

The product picture showing the package with the red background is exactly what I got. The two shears are slightly different. The "poultry" shears have a little slot which we use for things like flower stems or green bean ends. I doubt they would cut through a chicken leg, but we haven't actually tried it. They might get through a joint between the bones though. Unfortunately, since the blades don't line up perfectly, the notch will often catch. I can only use the tips for cutting, such as last night opening a frozen spinach bag.

The other "all-purpose" shears is the same but without the notch. Both are 8" long with 2.75" blades and have white hexagonal plastic covers on the rivet joint. There are notches along one blade but these are only for decoration; the cutting edges are straight, not serrated.

There doesn't seem to be much if any quality control at "Diamond Cut Supreme". The blades on our poultry shears don't even touch as you close them until about half way down the blades. The all-purpose shears don't quite finish closing, leaving the tip slightly open. But both are sharp and can cut through plastic blister packs with ease.

If you only need one the all-purpose shears are available alone: Diamond Cut Multi-Purpose Kitchen Shears.

These are (of course) made in China. There is a Dallas Texas address for warranty service listed on the package; you must include a check in "an amount equal to what you are paying to return the defective product." Obviously your cost would be more than what you are paying to buy these.

These are OK for disposable purposes, but if you want nicer kitchen shears, try Chicago Cutlery Centurion Shears. Ours were great until they ran off. I also bought Betty Crocker Scissors / Kitchen Shears from a dollar store, and even they are much more smooth and better made than these.

Bought these to replace a similar one that died after years of abuse, brand initials c.c. Unfortunately these two have no edge at all, they seem sturdy, though you can't detach the halves to clean, but doesn't really matter if I can't manage to cut a piece of string with them they won't ever get enough use to get dirty.

I bought these as backup for the kitchen since our scissors always seem to disappear. I tried using them all last week on different items in the kitchenbags, paper, produce, and it honestly could do the job at all.

The only part of the scissors that actually cuts is the first 1/2 inch.

Seriouslydollar store kids scissors would cut better than these.

the only thing I dont like this that the shears are a bit short and the handles are not comfortable to hold. I do like that they dont come apart. I hate the meat scissors that come apart they always seem to break apart and go falling towards your foot.

Misto 3pc. Salad Set with Gourmet Oil Sprayer, Knife, and Peeler

Misto 3pc. Salad Set with Gourmet Oil Sprayer, Knife, and PeelerI already owned one of these, purchased from Sam's club. (For my expensive olive oil i cook with...) I wanted another for my Orville redenbocker's fake butter oil spray. Found it here on Amazon, (prime of course,) and snatched it up. Got a second lettuce knife, and peeler i don't need, just to get the oil sprayer. this is actually one that works well, over an extended length of time, multiple daily uses.

Highly recommended.

The frosted glass bottle Misto is what this purchase was about. Bottom line they can break. If this thing rolls off the counter and hits the tile floor, it is going to break. If you forget it on top of the BBQ lid, and then open the lid... It is going to break. If these seem like extremely specific examples of how to break a glass Misto, you're right.

What keeps me coming back in spite of my clumsiness is the fact that it is see-through glass. You know when it needs to be filled and by how much. If you love your Misto like I do, the transparency is a tremendous benefit. I use it every single day, no exceptions. The only problem is that the frosted glass version seems to have been a limited time manufactured item because they are almost impossible find anymore. The only way I could find a replacement was in this three-piece set. The other two items are a waste a plastic knife and gimmicky peeler. Who cares? This set cost about $1 more than a non-transparent, metal, standalone Misto so I gladly bought it. The peeler is in the drawer and it may come in handy if all my other ones are in the dishwasher. I'm waiting for an excuse to through away the kindergarten chef's knife. And "yes," totally worth it.

Al Mar AM-UC4 Ultra-Chef's Utility Knife, 4.75 in., Cocobolo Handle, Plain

Al Mar AM-UC4 Ultra-Chef's Utility Knife, 4.75 in., Cocobolo Handle, PlainI am very pleased with the performance of this knife. If you are new to high-end kitchen cutlery, you are in for a pleasant surprise. If you have yet to experience VG-10 steel and it's 60-62 Rockwell hardness I can only describe it as like cutting with ice. If you look closely at the edge of this knife, you see that it is mirror-like, not coarsely ground. I have five of these in different sizes, and while I'm also a fan of Global and Shun, I don't have five of either of them. To me, this knife is the perfect combination of Japanese blade tech with the looks of high-end German cutlery.

Pedrini 12-Piece Plastic Handle Flatware Set, Black, Service for 4

Pedrini 12-Piece Plastic Handle Flatware Set, Black, Service for 4I bought this product looking for an inexpensive yet stylish flatware set. I liked the way it looked (save the minor scratches that it came with), but they are EXTREMELY fragile. The black handles broke off of 1 fork and 3 spoons. A spoon broke when I was stirring a bowl of oatmeal and a knife broke as I was cutting into butter.

I may be at fault for putting them in the dishwasher. The heat o the dishwasher must have weakened the plastic, making the flatware brittle. If you avoid using a dishwasher, you may be able to enjoy this flatware set for a longer time than I did. The set looks nice enough, but who wants to buy cheap flatware you can't even put in the dishwasher?

Decent cheap flatware. Nothing special. It does what it is supposed to do. They feel cheap because they are cheap but that's what you pay for. I would buy these again

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 7-Inch High Carbon Stainless-Steel Fillet knife

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Four Star 7-Inch High Carbon Stainless-Steel Fillet knifeI have owned this particular knife for 5 years now and it is one of my favorite and most useful knives. As a professional chef, i own several boning and filet knives both curved, straight, and stiff and flexible. At 7 inches it is long enough tobe used for everything from trimming tenderloins to cutting through tuna loins. it has a decent heft and the handle is large enough to fit my hand (a problem i found in other knives) another feature i enjoyed with this knife is how smooth itis without any crevices to harbor microorganisms in its handle or bolster. My girlfriend on the other hand finds the blade a bit too long for use in our home. prefering the 5.5 inch pro s boning knife. I also enjoy the slight flex in the blade it allows me to use knife in situations suitable for either a flexible or a stiff bone. All in all it is extremely useful in a professional kitchen and not a necessity in a home kitchen but it is very nice to have in both settings.

I have used this knife for almost 30 years and rate it #1. This time I'm buying one for my daughter.

I'll admit it up front; I'm a hardcore Henckel's fan. I know there are more expensive knives out there, but I prefer these. I purchased this knife to replace one, that I suspect, went out to recycling with a pizza box. It's got a great edge on it. I find myself reaching for it more than my santoku's now. It's a bit lightweight though. If it weren't for that, I'd gladly give it a 5-star rating.

Ginsu 2-Piece Bakelite Carving Knife Set Fork & Knife Stainless steel Blade

Ginsu 2-Piece Bakelite Carving Knife Set Fork & Knife Stainless steel BladeI really like Ginsu knives. They're super sharp, well balanced and they're inexpensive enough that you don't worry about simply replacing them someday when they get old. I have a block of regular Ginsu knives that include steak knives which we use regularly so, when I needed a carving knife for Thanksgiving, I gave this set a shot. I'm very pleased with them. The fork/tine piece is effective to let you position and hold the bird, and the carving knife itself is razor sharp.

This set was super cheap and worked fine on Thanksgiving, my only time using it so far. For the price, what else could you want?

I have a wusthhof classic knife set [forged high quality knives $300]. i was looking for cheap carving set to complement the set and fill the empty slots in the block.

These ginsu knives are the perfect match. It is hard to tell the wusthof handles from these ginsu knives. The triple rivels and handle color and design are right on.

Although blades are not made of forged hi carbon steel[ it's stainless steel], the knife the and fork are able to dissect the occasional turkey/roast.

American Metalcraft 18" Two Handled Pizza Knife (12-0471) Category: Pizza Cutters and Utensils

American Metalcraft 18' Two Handled Pizza Knife Category: Pizza Cutters and UtensilsWOW! This knife is a monster comparable to a machete! I had to hang it on the inside of a large cabinet as it will not fit anywhere else. This is comparable to the knife at my local pizza joint. It works just as well and as fast. Totally a top choice in this price range, don't be scared off by the plastic handles, they are of pretty good quality. The hole at the top is perfect to hang it. My dogs barked at it when I picked it up, ha ha, probably a good thing on scary movie nite! I've included some photo's with different pizza pans for comparison as well as to show it will only work on a flat surface when cutting. The blade is about 1/8" thick & SHARP, most pizza cutters say their sharp only to arrive very dull. This one is sharp right out of the very nicely & professional packed box. Looked like a large picture frame box!! I love my pizza's and hate putting in all the work only to have a cheap cutter rip off all my toppingsno more! Problem solved, you'll really like this cutter. It took me 5 different knives to get to this one, and one rocker cutter. I do not like the rocker cutters myself, I find it too hard to cut same size pieces accurately, and it was time consuming. I want to cut it fast & enjoy. The overall measurement is 23 1/4" from tip of blade to end of handle!

Buon appetito!

What a quality item this is! What I like about it is that you can make a pizza on a pizza stone, cut it right on the stone, and have the pieces be as small or as large as you want. The advantage is that you can cut the pieces much smaller than usual with the greatest ease and thus pretend that you are not eating as much as you usually would. It also works with pizza shop pizzas to make the slices much smaller. This would make the best father's day gift, combined with an Emile Henry pizza stone. Or THE wedding gift. I just came back to order some for gifts, since at one point they were down to just one when we originally bought ours. We have used it for a long time now and it seems as sharp as ever.

Solid feeling handles, sharp blade that cuts easily and cleans up just as easily. What's not to love? The hole at the end of the blade is a nice touch. I have it hanging on the rack with my cooking pans. Both of my sisters now want one of their own.

We all love how you can cut straight down through with little to no effort. The toppings all stay where they're supposed to instead of getting shoved to one side in front of even the large pizza wheels. It's also much easier to get accurate cuts than with a pizza wheel. No more having several large pieces and several much smaller ones.

This cutter should last me the rest of my life. I used to buy a new pizza wheel every couple years because they would dull and/or the rivet and hole would get worn out and the wheel would get sloppy. If this ever gets dull, I can just run it through my knife sharpener.

Chroma Type 301 Designed By F.A. Porsche 6 1/4 inch Japanese Veggie knife

Chroma Type 301 Designed By F.A. Porsche 6 1/4 inch Japanese Veggie knifeI purchased this knife to add to my set of chroma type 301 knives. I was already sold on this line after my first purchase of the 10" chef knife. I love the angle of this knife, It adds comfort due to the upwardly inclined handle and allows you to chop quite quickly. It is well worth the price and I will continue to purchase the rest of the set. Super quality tool.

Chroma is certainly not your traditional knife brandI have Wusthof and Henckels knives as well... but this is my favorite. Generally speaking, this line of knives has a great feel in your hand and is razor sharp. Don't use a regular steel on these guysuse a ceramic steel. But you will be pleasantly surprised about what a pleasure these are to use.

As for this knife in particular, it's on the small side to be your all purpose chef's knife, but it works great for smaller fruits and vegetables.

Classic 4.5" S-11 serrated/fine edge combo utility knife

Classic 4.5' S-11 serrated/fine edge combo utility knifeThe quality of the knife is excellent -no complaint there. The only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because the handle feels a little small in my hand. I am a man with a medium sized hand -about 3 3/4 inches across the palm. It probably would be perfect for most women, but I personally would prefer a little bulkier handle. Knife is sharp as a razor, and the serration works really well for peeling tomatoes.

I am not a knife expert, nor a chef, but this knife goes a long way towards making food preparation more enjoyable, I am happy with this purchase. I like the weight, the feel in my hand, and it's attractive. The length is perfect for small jobs, and it's sharp. I haven't found as much need for the serrated end as I thought I might, though I expect it will come in handy from time to time. I've had the knife for a couple weeks & use it daily. I've used it mostly for fruit and vegetable preparation. I only hand wash & dry this knife, so far it's retaining it's good looks. I am curious to see how well it holds up long term and am also curious as to any unique requirements for sharpening the combo blade when the time comes.

I had seen this knife in a catalog, and thought: "What a neat idea -a longish paring knife with a bit of serration at the bolster end." But it was too much money. As soon as Amazon.com had it on special, I grabbed it. It is ideal for slicing tomatoes, peaches, cucumbers, etc. Any soft fruit or vegetable with a skin tougher than the flesh; the serrations start the cut, and the smooth portion of the knife finishes the cut.

J.K. Adams HKG-1SM Kangaroo Slanted Knife Block

J.K. Adams 8-Inch-by-11-Inch Maple Wood Large Kangaroo Slanted Knife BlockThis is one of only two knife blocks that I could find online with a space for a cleaver. It is well designed, slanting enough that it can fit under a cabinet and still provide easy access. The quality is excellent. The price at Amazon was significantly less than other merchants, at the time I purchased, it was easily 40% of the others. It seems to have gone up a little. Always shop around-I could have paid as much as $170 for this at an upscale online merchant.

This was the solution when we wanted to replace a couple of cheap knife blocks. We consolidated all our knives, of all shapes and sizes, into this one block. The quality is good and free shipping was a good deal as it was very heavy. We have upper cabinets that are a few inches lower than average. This block easily fit underneath with room enough to pull even the longest knife. There was a slot large enough for our small cleaver and we used the row of small slots below for paring knives.

Wusthof Gourmet 8-Inch Serrated Bread Knife

Wusthof Gourmet 8-Inch Serrated Bread KnifeTypically I will spend the extra cash on Wusthof's Classic line of knives because they are not stamped, rather forged (and trust me hold a much keener edge) and as I put these knives to work 40 hours a week i need that, but in the case of serrated knives, even with heavy usage(with proper care of course), the gourmet line holds up.

That said, if you are purchasing knives for your home, i.e. light usage, and not a professional environment I would lean toward the gourmet line for all of wusthof's products.

We bought this knife for my father-in-law for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He said that he didn't realize how bad his other bread knife was until he started using this one. I've owned the black handled version of this knife which I got from Japan about 5 years ago when it wasn't available here in the USA. It is far better better than any of the steel edged serrated knives for everything from tomatoes to bread, and the 7" length sure beats the smaller "tomato" knives. The tiny serrations do a fabulous job. Still seems as sharp as it was when I first got it. The only caveat is that unlike steel knives, ceramic can be chipped or broken so you need to handle them with a bit of care. I've had many ceramic knives for many years and never had a problem, just don't drop them or smash the edge and they should be fine. No need for a dishwasher, they clean easily by hand no matter what you've been cutting. Just bought a couple for my daughters.

WMF Royal 20-Piece Flatware Placesetting, Service for Four

WMF Royal 20-Piece Flatware Placesetting, Service for FourI first bought a set for 8 a couple of years ago. Since then the finish on this stainless has not scratched one bit. It remains solidly glossy, despite much abuse. I have never had stainless over the years (many) that avoided some scratches over time. Also the pieces are quite heavy for stainless ware. I just today bought the set of four to add to the collection. BTW these could take the place of silverware very easily because of the very impressive look (yes, I grew up on silverware).

hoped it was made in Germany, as WMF is a German company and it is a fairly expensive silverware set. But it has embossed "China" on it. Not sure if it worth the money compared to other silverware from a German company like Zwilling that is also made in China but a lot cheaper and also 18/10 stainless steel. And yes, like another reviewer stated the knives are quite heavy...

Zhen Japanese Steel Santoku Hollow Ground Chef's Knife 7" + Vegetable Knife 5.5"

Zhen Japanese Steel Santoku Hollow Ground Chef's Knife 7' + Vegetable Knife 5.5'I am a pro, I use knives all day. The knives came razor out of the box, it was an unfinished stone grind that could have lost its edge fairly quickly (nothing wrong with that for $38). I stropped them on a piece of cardboard to make that razor last longer (if you don't know what "stropping" is look it up, very good thing to know). Today I diced 15 lbs of carrots, 10 onions & chopped 10 lbs of zuchinni alternating between the two knives for different cuts. They are still razors and I did not steel them at anytime during the prep work (look up "steeling a knife" if you don't know, also a very good thing to know). All in all, I am very! impressed with the quality for $38. You will have to care for the edge more often than one of those $118 knives, I'm not saying these knives dull quickly.. they dull less than average, 440c is a good blade steel. But the $118 knives that these knives are modeled after are made of a steel which will hold an edge a little longer.

What I'm saying is... :)

If you don't know how to maintain a blades edge, learn how to by watching videos online. Anyone reading this review obviously cares about quality. All knives dull, all dull knives are equally cruddy. So no mater what knife you buy, it would suit you well to learn how to maintain an edge.

These knives are well worth the price, I don't regret it and don't feel that I ever will. They will be in my prep bag and commonly used for years to come.

-Ken

Outstanding knife set and a great value. I bought these as a replacement for a set of Paula Deen santoku knives. Those knives are well made but I didn't like the clearance between the handles and cutting board. I also didn't care for the fact that the bolster went fully down the heel of the blade. The Zhen knives are well made. The integrated handles provide a good grip, adequate clearance from the cutting board (no hitting your knuckles) and won't crack as plastic handles are prone to do over time. I like this combo as the 7 inch does the "heavy lifting" while the 5.5 vegetable knife with it's angled blade is excellent for dicing. I'm not sure you would be able to do better for the money.
