Stelton EM77 Vacuum Jug, 33.8 oz, red

This is nothing short of beautiful. I own 3 of them, two large and one small, all in Stainless Steel.

The carafe is easy to use, and you can even fit most conventional plastic filters over the spout to make coffee right in the pot. I bought my coffee filter, along with the carafe in Denmark, but I think you can use the Alfi Aroma 3-Part Coffee Filter that should fit. The construction is solid -this will hold up for years. My Danish in-laws use their Stelton pot daily and have had it for many, many years. The Stainless Steel is brushed, and not the cheap kind you get in some other carafes. This is high quality stainless -durable and beautiful.

The only criticism about the carafe is that the it does not keep hot liquids as long as I would expect -after an hour or so, that piping hot coffee is no longer piping hot. I did use it everyday for years, but then decided on a carafe that is better insulated (Bodum). I still use the Stelton -mostly when entertaining. It's a beautiful carafe -traditional minimalist Danish design at its best. It's among the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.

I use my Stelton to make pots of tea. It stays piping hot for hours and is economical (one tea bag per pot). Love the design and nice red color.

Zyliss Fresh Cut Salad Knife, Green

This is a good, inexpensive and versatile knife that can be used as a spreader and server. I stumbled upon it when I needed an inexpensive item to meet the free shipping requirement.

It's good for cutting soft & leafy vegetables (lettuce, tomato), things that can be cut with sawing motion. It will not cut hard vegetable (carrot) that requires chopping motion.

It's particularly handy for making sandwiches. I can use it to spread the condiment, then slice the tomato or sweet pepper, and cut the sandwich in half at the end with just one knife. It's also great for cake, breads, brownies, etc.

It washes well in the dishwasher. A great buy overall!

My husband loves to eat iceberg lettuce salads. I got tired of tearing the lettuce up, so I decided to try this. Not only was the knife bigger than expected, but it's very sturdy and sharp. The grip is also very good for the average cook, but not as good as the grip on the Oxo Good Grips Lettuce Knife.

My boyfriend hates the sound of metal on metal, so when I saw that this knife is recommended for cutting cakes and brownies, it had even more appeal. This is my favorite kitchen tool. It chops salads into even pieces in seconds. Just make a few slices in one direction and then across in the other direction. If you really want small pieces like gourmet chopped salads, just continue.

My wife had me order these knives since we just had a baby and wanted a full set for our kitchen. I received the package and to my disappointment 3 of the knives had chipped blade edges. The bagel knife was in horrible shape and the tomato knife had a large chip in the blade edge. We also bought the pink knife, Santoku knife, and it was totally fine so I'm going to blame the company that shipped this set because they didn't do a good product inspection before shipping. I'm returning the set but it will have to be a refund because it wasn't originally through Amazon... I'm crossing my fingers that the next set I buy isn't in as bad of shape as this one... I know the knives are awesome but I would like a new product, not a defective one...

I'm tired of my old pastry brush, the bristle is coming off! Time to replace it. I am careful this time to choose what brush to buy. I came across with this brush which is made in france. Oh my, I was very happy with this brush, it is well made and the brush is very soft. I run my hand and kind of pull it lightly see wether any bristle will come off but no bristle came off. The handle is made of light high quality plastic. I just love this brush. I will buy some more.

I have used this pastry brush by rubbing it in my palm oil shortening, and then rubbing the brush on my waffle iron heated plates.

I used to use similar brushes from painting sets, with the metal band to hold the bristles: the bristles would fall off.

Lunch Skins Snack Size Bag, 4 x 6.5.

I use these in my children's lunches instead of hundreds of ziplock baggies each year. They're pretty simple, and could be easily made yourself, but when would you ever sit to do that. They go through the dishwasher well, the velcro closure holds, designs are nice. They sometimes hold colors, like orange from cheetos, but wash out well with a good gentle scrub. I would buy these again, and just might. I haven't had them long enough to attest to longevity, but they look & seem like they will hold up well worth the price, and Im doing a little part for the Earth, while saving a little on those plastic bags.

I bought this and now love it! I had never used these types of things before but find it so easy to keep around and pack stuff for my lunch at work. I have four boys, and when I consider how many snack & sandwich sized baggies we go through...well, these turn out to be a great value. Use it for more than one school year, and you SAVE money.

Not to mention, they are easily washable -I've never put them in the dishwasher -usually, I just rinse or use a sudsy cloth to quickly wash them out. They hang out in the dish drain to dry.

Trust me, these are easy to use & worth it.

Velcro works nicely.

Fabric is great...NO initial stink or anything.

I sew (costumes, upholstery, draperies, etc), and it is not easy to find food-grade fabric to make these yourself.

The idea of a reusable bag is great but these are really only useful for things like pretzels or Goldfish. There's not a lot of room in there so you can't pack it in like you can a regular plastic bag. I would say if you are only looking for something for a dry and small snack, these will work.

Knife is sharp, sturdy, well made and performs just like the more expensive ones.

We are not professionals by any means, but still know quality. My wife and I love it and easy to clean. Plastic sheath is ok, but works well to protect fingers and other items when rummaging around in drawer.

The only thing I notice is since this is a large blade (height) knife it tends to grab when cutting potatoes. My wife doesn't agree, but perhaps I cut potatoes differently. Thin blades (height) work better for that.

Still a great knife all around.

Saw this knife in The Week judged against more expensive knifes, so decided to try it and it is everything they said, a great buy.

This flatware set is shown in a nice display box, but when it came it was just loose inside a cardboard box on some ripped up tissue paper! The pieces have smudges, fingerprints, and scratches all over them. We ordered this for a baby shower gift but there's no way I can give it to someone in this kind of shape. I'm extremely disappointed!

Tossed in a brown box with all the piece lose banging up against each other. As bad as that was I was SHOCKED and angry to read that the peices are actually made in Mexico and not the USA!!!! You have to read the very light stamping on the back of each pieces. I could have bought the same set at Walmart for $5.00terrible quality. Completely disappointing and disgusting that they would sell Mexico junk and try to pass it off as USA made product!

Like the previous reviewer, my flatware arrived in a plain, white cardboard box with all pieces in individual plastic sleeves all wrapped in tissue paper.

I ordered this knowing that mine may not arrive in the gift box shown in the product listing so I am OK with this. The flatware is for my kids, not a gift.

The pieces are nice. No scratches on mine and the finish seems good on all pieces. I am adding a photo above so that you can see the sizes of the pieces in relation to common kids flatware.

My daughter had been using the blue Gerber fork shown since about 20 months without any trouble. She is now 3, so I just wanted some 'real' flatware for her since our salad forks are still a bit big. The Ginko Panda child's fork is a bit narrower and the tines are longer than what she is used to.

The baby spoon is a bit smaller than a 'standard' Gerber rubber coated spoon and the toddler spoon is just a tiny bit bigger than it, but they are almost the same. In my opinion, the 'baby and toddler' set Ginkgo Panda-Babies Made in the USA 3-Piece Baby & Toddler Flatware Set is just a baby set and the 'child' set Ginkgo Panda-Babies Made in the USA 3-Piece Child Flatware Set is a toddler set.

If I order more sets (planning to let my daughter test them for awhile first) I will only order the child set of just the larger fork, spoon and knife.

Wusthof Classic Ikon 8-Inch Bread Knife, Creme

It is a snap to slice bread with these knives. I use it to make Bruschetta on a frequent basis. Very sharp.

Wonderful knife, the Wusthof Classic Ikon are excellent knives. I usually get a Creme handle bread knife for a set of regular knives so that the bread knife is easy to find. I have purchased several for myself and as gifts. I find the German knives are the best for gifts as opposed to the Japanese knives as the German are heavier and less delicate, slightly less brittle metal, easier to resharpen, hold up much better and will not rust when left wet. The damascus folded metal Japanese knives will slowly develop small rust spots over time as it is imposable to maintain perfect formulation and consistency of stainless steel alloys when doing the folding. The Japanese knives are unique and the more expensive brands are beautiful and truly excellent if cared for carefully however they are brittle and prone to tiny chips in the cutting edge and the mentioned rusting if not dried after use. Leaving them in the sink wet is totally unacceptable where the German knives will generally be OK. The best knife I have is a Japanese folded metal $240 for one knife, but the best overall and by far the best for gifts are German especially the Wusthof Classic Ikon. I have purchased many knives of many brands for gifts and am only trying to help others benefit from my experiences.

Wusthof makes outstanding knives. No question. But from online images at Wusthof and here, I thought these particular knives--the Classic Ikon Creme--would be a lovely addition to my kitchen. I liked the cream-colored look so much more than the standard black (or stainless) so ordered three of them: the bread knife, the paring knife, and the chef's knife.

I was unpleasantly surprised when they arrived to see that the handles (not the blades) appeared "dollar store" cheap. They had very little weight to them and actually gave the appearance of being cheap plastic. I was initially astonished, then dismayed, then bitterly disappointed. I have no doubt that the knives themselves are of excellent quality. Wusthof is known for that. But I was so disappointed with the look and feel of the handles that I didn't even bother to try them out. I re-wrapped them within a half-hour of receiving them and notified Amazon that I wanted to return them.

It's a shame really. I would have been proud to have a set of Wusthof knives in my kitchen. Probably another of their collections would have more than satisfied me, but I ended up going with the recommendations from ATK and got knives that are not only better looking and of equal quality but were much less expensive.

Wusthof has a good reputation for quality. And it has some lovely knives. What a shame this Classic Ikon Creme is not among them.

I keep it in tip top shape with special conditioner designed for wood that is food safe. The handle on one side is just slightly bent, most people wouldn't notice, but I'm very pickey and notice what others usually would not...otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.

The metal band is not tight against the wood. In several places, it's loose enough to catch something, like fingers and hands. Since the metal edge is also very sharp, I managed to cut myself four times before I finally threw the blasted thing away.

An excellent sharpening tool. If you know how to use a whet rock, you will like this item. I have used mine for three years and have given several as gifts. All reports I get are good. Use with or without water. Use a brush with water to clean.

I owned one of these before. Somehow, in a recent move, I lost all but the finest grit plate. The set will bring a blade to an edge suitable to fillet fish. The coarser plate I used to touch up the edge of my tools, block planes, chisels, etc. It is a must for my machete.

I've been using this sharpener on my knives for 2 years now. I love it.

I just bought another one as a gift for my dad. I don't know how much

more of a 'testimonial' a guy can give a tool than to have and use it

for two years and then buy one as a gift for his dad. They just work.

I'm not a great knife sharpener. I just can't get one razor sharp, where it

can cut the hairs on my hand/arm. I've tried to be. I know guys who can do it.

I bought a knife sharpening book, and bought a motorized whet stone that also has

a leather wheel. And I can absolutely get a knife VERY sharp with it. So sharp that

the edge will 'stick' to my fingernail at very sharp angles from both directions

(ie: doing test with both left and right hands). BUT I can get a knife JUST as

sharp with this little tool, which is MUCH cheaper, handier, faster, and easier to use.

I love the fact that it doesn't "load up" much, and stop sharpening, as regular

stones and ceramics do. Doing mostly knives, I don't use the coarse plate much.

About twice a year (after sharpening something like 15 knives), I clean the medium and

fine plates by putting some gun oil on them and brushing with a toothbrush, then

wiping with a rag. Voila. Good as new. And even that isn't absolutely necessary.

They work fine with no cleaning at all for a long long time. Perhaps not AS good

as when they were new, or after a light oil cleaning, but they still work.

Arcos Regia Slicing Spanish Flexible Ham Knife

It may sound silly, but you really do need a special knife to slice Jamon (spanish cured ham). This knife works perfectly. This is my second as I gave my first to my cousin who marveled at how well it worked. This knife will work for any slicing job where you need very thin output. I make my own Gravlox and this slices beautiful thin slices every time.

This knife is large and really, really sharp. Don't know if it will keep it's sharpness forever but at the present moment its working like a charm for my "jamón serrano".

Magnolia Yanagi Knife Sheath 270mm (10.6")

Handsomely made and a perfect fit for my 270mm Yanagi even though it was from another manufacture. Best way to protect the oneself from the razor-sharp edge of a Yanagi and to protect the edge from damage during storage.

Only disappointment is that it has a hole drilled to fit a paper clip instead of the ebony pin usually used to secure the blade.

I have more kitchen gadgets than a sane person should admit to so I can be a little hard to impress in this department. This perfect saute tool by Epicurean meets all the claims in its product description in a very Apple-esque/Steve Jobs worthy-way, making it one of the few items I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. Unique and stylish design works in my eclectic kitchen, complimenting both the rustic wood accents and modern touches. The shape is genius gets to every nook and cranny in my straight sided saute pans as well as the more sloped edged fry pans. It is heat resistant to 400*F not sure how hot my saute pans actually get on full blast but no signs of melting or warping. Came out of the dishwasher looking same as new. Non-porous did not absorb smells or color from a chicken tikka dish with heavy curry and tumeric spices. Eco-friendly/green materials used in construction are a plus and came with just a label instead of excessive packaging. Made in USA to boot!

Towle Stephanie 42-piece Flatware Set

Just picked this item up and the description is NOT correct! This item is 18/0 and label on the fork as so.

It feels solid and happy I bought it, made in USA! Just wish the description was accurate.

Very disappointed in the quality of this silverware. About one quarter of the pieces were defective -knifes with the tips cut off, bent forks, etc. Stay away from the Towle brand.

Update: Towle sent free replacements after I contacted them.

I absolutely love this silverware pattern! It's a nice weight...heavier than most standard everyday silverware, & the quality is superb. I plan on ordering another set in the future to give me more place settings, so I made sure to keep the pattern name. I do wash my silverware by hand so it stays nicer longer, even though it's dishwasher safe. I highly recommend this pattern, especially if you prefer a more plain setting like my husband & I do.

This was the first time I purchased expensive flatware with the "superior" 18/10 stainless steel. (Supposedly, this higher level of nickel content makes the metal more resistant to damage and wear). I like it, but I don't really see it as much superior to the standard (cheap) 18/0 stainless steel flatware that I have used in the past. I am basically happy with my purchase, but I don't think I would say it was worth the extra money.

The metal does look slightly dull after a few uses and it has minute scratches. It doesn't look bad. It just doesn't look any better than the cheap flatware.

That said, it has a nice design, goes well on any table and has a good hand feel and weight to it. Its good flatware. I like the flatware. I would just advise you to find a good sale price as I don't see the justification is charging so much more than the 18/0 flatware which has served me well for many years ( or did until my rotten stepdaughter swiped it....but that's another story....)
