A little corny? Sure, but this poem is what is written on the 1950's era packaging this comes in...just a simple cardboard box (no clamshell packaging), everything is written in English and is MADE IN USA! There is a drawing of the other Kwik-Kut on the box that has the plain edge which would seem the better option for cutting out biscuits or cookies.

I NEVER remember a time where Mom did not have this chopper in the kitchen and as a young boy, I HATED IT. The reason?---One of my chores was that when Mom was making slaw, I was responsible for getting the cabbage chopped for seven people, not counting if we had company. Back then, I was the food processor and this was "The Slaw Thing". Thinking back, I should've loved it because even though I didn't have a lot of strength in my young arms, this tool did most of the work for me. Mom's slaw always came out tasting great and I like to think part of that was my excellent chopping skills with her Kwik-Kut. It always felt like a good accomplishment afterwards and although I might've have had some cabbage in my hair and a jelly-arm, helping Mom in the kitchen was still better than pulling weeds out in the hot sun.

Fast-forward to a few decades later and I have finally bought my own Kwik-Kut. I like making slaw my way instead of store-bought and this is PERFECT for that. I'm happy to say that I haven't lost my touch. It will quickly chop up the cabbage and I don't have to bother with cleaning the food processor which is messier than a 10 yr old with a bowl full of cabbage. Whether doing a little or a lot, this gets the job done and I'm still able to get the cabbage to the perfect consistency for slaw that I always have to eat when I have fried fish and hush-puppies, hot-dogs or a pork barbecue sandwich.

It is VERY SHARP which is the way a good chopping tool should be because THE TOOL DOES MOST OF THE WORK. The serrated edge on my Mom's Kwik-Kut is still very sharp after decades and I foresee mine lasting just as long. You'll never have to worry about buying another unless of course it gets lost or "borrowed". There's nothing to rust and free of any plastic or wooden parts. Like the packaging states it's "The Ideal Food Chopper. Easy to use and clean--Light to handleKwik-Kut."

Mom found a lot of uses for this food chopper and you'll likely find just as many. It might sound strange, but for me, the best thing this made was some great memories.

My mother has had one of these choppers for probably 30+ years and still uses it. I have had a Pampered Chef chopper and used it for the past nine or ten years; however, I don't like to use it often because of the hassle in cleaning it, particularly if I only have a very small portion to chop. Therefore, I purchased this simple chopper for the smaller jobs (i.e. chopping hard boiled eggs for egg salad or a handful of pecans to top a serving of ice cream). It is fabulous and much easier to clean than the aforementioned P. Chef chopper. Plus, it is made in the USA, which is something we try to shop for as much as possible.

Just loved this chopper. We used it all the time. Worked great on Deviled Egg yolks. Just don't take it out of your house, because you will lose it, then you won't have it. That is what happened to us. We took it to Christmas 2 years ago and left it there and never saw it again.

We will be ordering more than one. Just love it. Warning, it is very sharp, but man does it work.

We have been lost without ours.

Rada Cutlery Granny Paring Knife, Made in USA (Pack of 2)

I do a lot of canning from greenbeans to peaches. This knife is comfortable in my hand, super sharp, and an absolute must have. My kids have used it and it doesn't slip out of their hands. We actually fight over who gets this knife. That's why I'm ordering more.

The sharp blade is a little bit like an eagle claw and is about 2 3/4" long which works good on small to meadium size fruits and vegetables. It cuts meat without a problem. The blade thickness is a little thin and bends if you push against it with a finger. Otherwise, I would have given it a 5-star rating. The oval handle is not something I am used to but do not forsee a problem. I like that it is all metal, so when its life is over, it can be recycled. Also, I like that it is made in the USA.

Knife and price would be ideal if the blade were longer. The entire knife is just too small for my hands.

Great blade for canning...stays sharp with perfect shape for peeling/paring...aluminum handle doesn't like dishwasher as it gets discolored, but blade holds up great...can hand wash if worried about the handle...bought them for mom, mother-in-law and both love them too.

J.A. HENCKELS INTERNATIONAL 15-Piece Fine Edge Synergy Block Knife Set

These are the "arm candy" of knives. They're pretty to look at but are essentially useless.

My blades began rusting a day after I used them. I've only had them since Christmas and am shopping for replacements as we speak.

Don't by these.

Whoa...my sisters have this set at their house, which I used extensively last night to cut with. In a word? Terrible.

They have not used them much, and all they had for me was a glass cutting board (I know, terrible). Due to the glass cutting board, I knew these edges, had they been used, would not be terribly sharp.

I made a point of sharpening them on the included steel using the procedure outlined in the manual.

Anyhow, I found myself both struggling and TEARING vegetables when cutting them. To slice red pepper, I was having to pull the remaining portion of the pepper up to tear it off of the piece I *thought* I'd just cut.

Perhaps this is a terribly unfair comparison, as I am used to my Henckels Pro "S" set. But for crying out loud, I didn't think it would be THIS bad.

While I cannot speak for the rest of the Henckels "International" (meaning "Made in Spain, not Germany") line, this set was very much unacceptable. You would literally get a better value buying a Henckels 4-Star Chef's Knife instead of this WHOLE SET. At least you'd get some real use out of it.

The steak knives feel cheap. This is definitely a $60-feeling set, no great "value," in my opinion. I would never, ever, ever buy a Henckels International product after this interlude and will happily return home tonight to my Henkels Pro "S" set...where cutting through ANYTHING is like gliding through soft butter.

Henckel along with manufacturers of other cutlery, utensils, cookware and kitchen accessories always state whether or not you should wash them in a dishwasher. PLEASE pay attention to their instructions! Henckel manufactures a fine product. I always hand wash the knives -as they advise -then dry them immediately and store them safely. I don't want to discount others' reviews but those who have had problems with "rusting" have either not cared for the knives properly or have had a very rare low-quality product they should ask Henckel to replace.

Not everything goes in the dishwasher. Just as with garments, read the label before you wash! :)

Prior to this set I had a cheap Chefmate set for maybe 20 or 30 dollars. After a year or two the handles started to detach, so I decided I needed to buy a better set. Trusting in Henckels name I bought this set. The knives are made in China. Regarding quality, the knives are still holding up great after almost 5 years of use. While it is really recommended to hand wash and dry your kitchen knives, I always put mine in the dishwasher instead. Maybe due to this after about 4 years they started to show some rustmarks, but this turned out to be no big deal. With the help of some "Barkeepers Friend" I was able to quickly and easily remove those marks again.

The knives are "stamped knives", making them rather light in weight. The handles feel good and the set will look nice in your kitchen.

Regarding the material of the blade Henckel does not advertise them as a "carbon blade" but rather as a "stainless steel". I therefore strongly suspect that this is not a carbon steel blade.

After about 5 years despite being able to get rid of the rustmarks, the blades have become worn. Sending them for resharpening is not really worth it and buying a whetstone is almost as much as the set costs by itself. So after close to 5 years it haas come close to where the set needs replacement.

Really good knives that you want to use for 10 or 20 years should be "carbon steel", which can be made much sharper than stainless steel and also hold their edge longer. Still if you want a set that is able to handle your basic daily kitchen duties for the next 5 years and will not break in the process instead of a set for life, you will be perfectly happy. The next step up from this set are carbon steel knives, either stamped or forged, that can run you anywhere from $300 to $1000 for a good set, but those will also last you longer and give you a better cutting experience. For the money this is a great set I was very happy for the time owning it and I therefore recommend it.

Swissmar Spachello

I bought this for peanut butter sandwiches. I buy peanut butter from Costco in the huge containers and you cannot reach the bottom without getting peanut butter fingers with a regular knife. This looked interesting. It is long enough to reach the bottom of a large peanut butter or mayo jar. The spreader side works well. The knife side cuts well too but is a bit awkwardly placed. The blade also makes me a bit nervous. It is very sharp. I think if you work with this utensil a bit and get the hang of it then you will be fine. Although I am not sure you save time or effort with this all in one. Maybe I am just a spazz. In retrospect I think I would have opted for just a bigger longer spreader with a silicone edge without the knife edge. It also seems to retain a lot of the peanut butter or mayo on the blade as it is not perfectly flat and smooth. Still a cool product and it is now part of my knife drawer. Which is another problem I wanted to put it in my gadget drawer but the sharp blade prohibits me from putting it there where I root around for stuff.

I bought this because I wanted a long spreader for large sandwiches, but it cuts great too. This isn't the first thing I'd buy if I was stocking a kitchen drawer with knives and such, but I really find it useful. If you don't make a lot of sandwiches I'm not sure you would need it. This is a fairly specialized item. I paid a lot less than 25.00 for mine too. I think I paid 11.95and I'm very happy with it for that price.

Mundial Solid Wood Cutting Board, Medium

I bought this board as a Christmas present for my son-in-law, and he loves it! His criteria for a new board included: reasonable size (so he could bring it to the table) and a trough and well to catch meat juices. This board has those attributes, plus it is well made with small rubber feet to hold it secure while carving and handles (carved into the underside of the board) so it can be carried easily to where ever you like. I looked at every carving board on Amazon and on many other websites; many were nice, but none had ALL of the features I've mentioned -plus -a very reasonable price! I would not hesitate to recommend this board. By the way, there is NO ONE on the web that has the selection of carving boards you find on Amazon - thanks, Amazon!

I thought I had read enough reviews before clicking the 'buy' button...maybe I missed the one that happened to mention that this very nice-sized cutting board is not a raw wood board, it has been dipped (or painted) with a varnish type of coating. This means that every time you chop/cut on this board, slivers of the coating will be coming off into your food--This 'coating' should be mentioned and defined in the description. I thought others would want to know.

Magnetic Knife Bar, 18'', Wooden

I use this to hold metal tools in my garage and it works well for that purpose.

Pros:

Nice looking piece of somewhat heavy 7/8" oak.

Good magnetics without being overly strong.

Cons:

The mounting screws provided where 1 1/4" which provide inadequate leverage for the heavy 7/8" oak into

wallboard. Mounting directly into wood would be OK. I used my own mounting hardware for wallboard.

If you use as a knife holder, the knife blade rests directly on metal bars which some people object to for fear of dinging very sharp blades.

My sister loves the knife holder we got her for Christmas. I have one a bit shorter, so will be buying this same one again only this time for myself. I really like being able to have ALL the knives I use over and over handy rather than having to dig around in the knife drawer for them. This is a GREAT ORGANZING TOOL. The magnets are nice and strong so the knives never slip. The shipping was quick, it was well packaged, so I was ALL AROUND PLEASED with this purchase!!!

I love this Knife bar, put it on the wall in the kitchen, all my knives and kitchen scissors stuck to it.

However I am moving and the first couple that came through thought that it was a very bad idea due to the age of their children.

And since the device comes from China, it's quite likely that it includes Cadmium and/or lead, both of which are highly toxic.

The importer, PRI Industries, promptly issued a return authorization number, but the sum of the shipping cost & restocking charge exceeded the price I paid for it in the first place.

This grinder is very powerful it chews up pork and beef with little effort. I was amazed after dealing with small hand cranked models or even my kitchen aid. A manual would have been great, it was a pain to figure out how to put it together and take it apart for cleaning. I haven't used the part that allows you to motorize it but it seems pretty easy if you need that much power. Make sure you have a way to bolt this down it needs a solid base.

I was surprised at how fast this grinder chewed up meat. After a more expensive electric grinder with a small auger, this equipment was a welcome relief. The prior comment about solid mounting was well taken, as it could well grind 500 pounds of meat an hour. But that is a lot of force, so mount it securely. I love this grinder, but after stuffing sausage for the first time with it, I realize why it has a wheel that can be motorized. My arms were tired!!!

Good grinder, just make sure you mount it securely and keep your arm muscles in shape.

I am from Missouri on this product. (It is going to have to "Show Me".

The first grinder came and the main bearing at the business end of the grinder was off center. I thought I could fix it myself but upon examination saw the casting itself was off center.

There was also a 3/4 inch crack through the grinding end of the casting. I sent it back.

PRI industries Inc. was EXTREMELY helpful in returning this product. I received a return shipping label the same day I inquired about a return. A new unit was promptly shipped and arrived within days of return of the original unit.

Now the problem: The new unit is also cast off center, one side of the casting is 1/4 inch thick, the opposite side is 5/8 inch. (a cheap charlie Chinese product for sure [no offense Charlie!])

I have not used this product for grinding but other reviews praised it's grinding capability so perhaps it will do the job it was bought for even if the quality of the product is not as good as I was hoping for.

Overall I will wait and see so far I'm not impressed.

WOW! This knife is a monster comparable to a machete! I had to hang it on the inside of a large cabinet as it will not fit anywhere else. This is comparable to the knife at my local pizza joint. It works just as well and as fast. Totally a top choice in this price range, don't be scared off by the plastic handles, they are of pretty good quality. The hole at the top is perfect to hang it. My dogs barked at it when I picked it up, ha ha, probably a good thing on scary movie nite! I've included some photo's with different pizza pans for comparison as well as to show it will only work on a flat surface when cutting. The blade is about 1/8" thick & SHARP, most pizza cutters say their sharp only to arrive very dull. This one is sharp right out of the very nicely & professional packed box. Looked like a large picture frame box!! I love my pizza's and hate putting in all the work only to have a cheap cutter rip off all my toppingsno more! Problem solved, you'll really like this cutter. It took me 5 different knives to get to this one, and one rocker cutter. I do not like the rocker cutters myself, I find it too hard to cut same size pieces accurately, and it was time consuming. I want to cut it fast & enjoy. The overall measurement is 23 1/4" from tip of blade to end of handle!

What a quality item this is! What I like about it is that you can make a pizza on a pizza stone, cut it right on the stone, and have the pieces be as small or as large as you want. The advantage is that you can cut the pieces much smaller than usual with the greatest ease and thus pretend that you are not eating as much as you usually would. It also works with pizza shop pizzas to make the slices much smaller. This would make the best father's day gift, combined with an Emile Henry pizza stone. Or THE wedding gift. I just came back to order some for gifts, since at one point they were down to just one when we originally bought ours. We have used it for a long time now and it seems as sharp as ever.

Solid feeling handles, sharp blade that cuts easily and cleans up just as easily. What's not to love? The hole at the end of the blade is a nice touch. I have it hanging on the rack with my cooking pans. Both of my sisters now want one of their own.

We all love how you can cut straight down through with little to no effort. The toppings all stay where they're supposed to instead of getting shoved to one side in front of even the large pizza wheels. It's also much easier to get accurate cuts than with a pizza wheel. No more having several large pieces and several much smaller ones.

This cutter should last me the rest of my life. I used to buy a new pizza wheel every couple years because they would dull and/or the rivet and hole would get worn out and the wheel would get sloppy. If this ever gets dull, I can just run it through my knife sharpener.

Shun Classic Left-Handed 6-Inch Stainless-Steel Utility Knife

This Japanese knife is fantastic. It is sturdy but lightweight. Easy to hold, it cuts like you cannot believe. We have always had Henkel and Wustof knives and thought they were good. You haven't cut until you've cut with one of these though. I wish we had a whole set of them. Fully worth the price.

BOSKA Holland Monaco Slate Cheese Board

I ordered two of these to serve cheese at a party I hosted for a business event. When my wife first saw them, she exclaimed, "Ooh, we have to keep those!"

The boards are better looking than is evident in the photo here. They are also quite heavy -thick, sturdy slate, with the dimensions as indicated. Besides the appearance, they worked well to serve the cheese -it held up nicely and looked good all evening at the party.

The boards did not scratch from the cheese knives as far as I could tell. I've also dishwashed them a few times now and they held up well.

Two cautions I'd suggest: first, only use cheese knives and dull blades on them. Using them as a cutting board (e.g., with a chef's knife) will likely harm you, the knife, and the board. Second, the edges are slightly sharp in places with the randomly scalloped edge. Nothing serious there, and it improves their looks, but you don't want to run exposed skin along the edge.

For the price ($18 when we ordered) they exceeded our expectation. Recommended.

I was a tad leery of this cheese slate since, at the time of my purchase, over 50% of the published reviews were solicited by the manufacturer. Whereas I ultimately trust my fellow reviewers to be unbiased even when receiving a free item for consideration, I also appreciate the delight in discovering a surprisingly well reviewed product not promoted by the maker.

However, skeptics should know Vine reviewers aren't whistlin' Dixie with their positive feedback. This dainty-sized slate is ideal for cheese for 2! And it's priced right too. Score!!

I'm a cheese addict but I'm also a cheese GARNISH addict. Most restaurants serve their cheese plates on, well, a board or large plate--a single dedicated spot to offer both cheese and all the accompanying goodies. However, if you're greedy like me and don't skimp on the raisins, olives, capers, grapes, and other equally pesky round cheese companions, you'll discover that a single large board isn't terribly practical for serving a significant amount of garnish--especially if you dine al fresco. Unless you use individual cups or lettuce beds, etc., everything rolls off, runs together, looks messy, or is impossible to safely transport.

So I decided to find a small cheese board and let the cheese be a star on its own; I take a less rustic approach and serve the garnish separately on a bamboo 3-tier tray.

Slate is ideal for keeping cheese at a sustained cool temperature, can be marked w/soap stone if you desire to label each type, and, well, looks darn cool. This board, like most slate, must be handled somewhat delicately as slate can chip or shatter. But mine arrived perfectly intact and the literally 'rough around the edges' organic design looks fantastic.

Although it is dishwasher safe, I prefer to wipe it down with a steaming hot washcloth and a diluted solution of whatever bacteria-killing cleanser I have on hand.

There's covered feet on the piece but they're not raised significantly so the board sits flush on a table. The listed measurements are accurate. The slate quality is superb and appropriately thick. Other brands' cheese slates looked a little thin & brittle. I think the slate on this piece is even less compromised due to the handy compact size.

The board is the ideal size for serving 4-5 different cheeses, two small blocks of each. I use 3.5" bamboo paddle skewers (available here on Amazon) and prefer these as ad hoc cheese markers over using soapstone. Additionally, for a really cool presentation, paired with Nortitake's "Colorwave 6 1/2 inch Mini Quad Plates" in 'Graphite', also sold here on Amazon, you'll have appetizer plates that match the cheese slate practically perfectly. I see Boska Holland makes a matching coaster should you go the wine route.

If you're after a small slate that lets the cheese do the talking, it's hard to find any reason not to recommend this. Lightweight but sturdy, super cool looking, inexpensive, AND kind to cheese? Check, check, check and check!

Great board for the price. Nice size for 3-4 types of cheese, easy to clean and good quality. My only complaint is that it did soak up a bit of the oil from the cheese and I couldn't get it off. Not that big of a deal, I guess it just gives it more character. Will definitely buy another if I'm having a bigger gathering.

I received this from Culture/Boska to review. Slate always makes a beautiful rustic presentation for cheese. I love the look. The board has small feet on it that raises it just 1/8 inch or so off surfaces so it is easy to pick up and does not scratch anything. Because it is slate you can write on the board. My only objection at first was the size, it is small but then I realized the are other sizes available this is perfect for small single cheese or a few pieces with some quince paste, nuts, etc. my husband and I have used it at dinner putting a few small pieces on it for our cheese course or for a snack in mid afternoon. So really it is the perfect size for that......

This knife is made for one thing-slicing bread and it is the best there is. Two things--don't put it in the dishwasher and DO NOT hit your finger. I've had mine for many years, I think around 25 or so and it is still like new and still sharp as a razor.

Mercer Cutlery Renaissance 7" Santoku Knife
