Cheese Knife/Server with Bamboo Handle (Stainless Steel)

Cheese Knife/Server with Bamboo HandleI own a few of these knives because (1) they are economical, and (2) they are sturdy and functional. For personal use or small gatherings I use a Boska Holland Explore Cheese Set. However for tastings and for multi-purpose use I use these.

Aside from the excellent price, these are sturdy, reasonably sharp (helped by the serrations on the blade), and are easy to clean. I especially love the handle, which is bamboo, and strong and less porous than other woods.

Regarding the multi-purpose use I mentioned: this knife works beautifully with dry sausages like salami as well as cheese. When I have larger gatherings I will put out a spread of antipasti and aside from Olive Strainer Spoons for olives and Appetizer Tongs these knives are the only serving utensils needed.

Please see my customer-supplied photo at the top of this page for the relative size of this knife. The cheese shown in the photo is a little over a half pound, so that should give you an idea of scale.

If you host parties or have large family meals these are handy to have around. The quality is better than I expected and the functionality is perfect for the uses I described.

Swissmar Stainless Steel 3-Piece Cheese Knife Set

Swissmar Stainless Steel 3-Piece Cheese Knife SetI received two pieces from this set for Christmas. They are nicely lightweight, since the handles are hollow.

The soft cheese knife cuts fine, but the hard cheese slicer takes a lot of force to cut through harder cheese like mahon curado. Even on not-so-tough cheeses like gruyere, I have to struggle to get nice big shavings.

The biggest problem is the quality of the stainless steel: it rusts very easily. I left it on the dish rack to dry after washing it, and when I returned a few hours later, I discovered rust stains in several corners. These knives are beautifully designed, but I wouldn't recommend them if you plan to actually use them.

The design is very modern and the quality seems high, however the cheese slicer has developed some rust stains on it, which I've been able too polish out.

Farberware Resin 8-Inch Chef Knife with Sheath, Purple

Farberware Resin 8-Inch Chef Knife with Sheath, PurpleWhen I saw the price I hesitated... after all, who can get a good knife that will last at that price? I bought it thinking it would do short term! OH YEA, then I bought another and now I'm planning on one a month to get the whole collection. If your budget is tight, or even if you can splurge, this is a great buy!

It's a great kitchen knife for home use, looks good but my huge guy hands are a little too large for the handle. My wife who loves purple says it's awesome. she's biased. edge stays sharp and the sheath is good for drawer storage, protecting the knife and hands as well.

I have another smaller Zyliss knife and this is not as sharp nor stay as sharp. It's hardly been used and had issue cutting a tomato. I'll stick with Zyliss from now on.

I initially ordered this knife because I am addicted to purple (true story!) and wanted a sheathed knife for my everyday utensil drawer. I have found it to be safe and reliable for the general tasks of salad and vegetable prep, and the sheath is a reminder to myself and the grandkids that this is sharp! We can safely store it in without worry of accidentally stabbing ourselves when reaching for a steak knife or other utensil. It is extremely sharp, and as with any good blade is hand washed immediately after use; I expect to get many years of use from it.

Want Farberware Resin 8-Inch Chef Knife with Sheath, Purple Discount?

The sheath has a right way and a wrong way to go on, which is far from obvious. The knife gets very stuck almost all the way in if it is done incorrectly. Even with the sheath on correctly, a very small but sharp corner of the knife still sticks out by the handle.

The knife cuts well enough and is fun to look at. The color tricks you into thinking it is plastic, though! If you need a sheath, this is only OK, but there aren't a lot of choices of sheathed chef knives. If the sheath is not needed, make a different choice.

Sage Non-Skid Carving Board

Sage 12 by 18-Inch Non-Skid Carving Board, NaturalI brought home my first Sage cutting board last month. I plan on ordering another this week. Why?

1. Non-skid feet keeps the board from slipping while you cut.

2. More durable surface than wood with a similar look even though the Sage cutting board is thin enough to store easily.

3. Easy clean-up.

4. Slight curves have a nice look.

The second one I plan to purchase will be one without the groove for catching liquids since my primary cutting board use is for prepping vegetables.

This is the best cutting board I have ever owned, it's always on our countertop! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a quality cutting board.

It has non skid studs attached to the board and I have removed them in order to eliminate the "hollow sound" when I do cutting on the board. Very good quality. Much cheaper by Amazon, even includes the delivery charges, than from the local retail. Good buy.

I decided to redo the accessories in my kitchen and this was the perfect addition. This is the perfect size for cutting and doesn't take up too much space in my small kitchen. Swiss Army Brands 40090 Cleaver Chinese, 8-Inch

Swiss Army Brands 40090 Cleaver Chinese, 8-InchArguably, this is one of the better chopping, cleaving, broad utility kitchen knives on the market. It's thin enough to slice very well, and broad enough to act as a scoop to place diced herbs where they need to go. Like all Victorinox / Forschner knives, it's easy to sharpen and maintain. It's weakness, if you want to call it that, is a walnut handle held on by one rivet. (It's a narrow stick tang with solitary pin point if that means anything to you.) Other than that, it's one marvelous example of minimalist extravagance. It'll do what you ask of it, so long as that doesn't require heavy chopping. It's a natural slicer, not a hacker. Learn to choke up on this thing and it becomes a total substitute for a classic 8-10" French Chef's knife.

This identical model was my first kitchen knife 25 years ago. I used it for everything, as I taught myself to cook through my batchelor days. This new replacement has the same balance and control of my original, but the metal is a bit thinner and lighter. Its still a formidible, affordable, and worthy knife for almost any chopping/dicing application.

Buy Swiss Army Brands 40090 Cleaver Chinese, 8-Inch Now

I always had great experience with Victorinox knives. This chinese cleaver was very sharp like all Victorinox knives. It cuts through carrots like butter. The blade is very thin so it might appear to be flimsy. The thin blade makes it very light, which is great if you do alot of chopping. Do not use this knife to cut through bones or other hard substance. It is great to chop vegetable and slicing meat. When you wash it, water tend to collect in the handle. the handle needs to face up in order for the water to drain. Overall, this is great value for everyday chopping and dicing. It may appear not well constructed but is comfortable enough to use. It has not fallen apart on me yet. If you like a lightly constructed knife with a very sharp edge, this is the knife for you. For the price, this is a good starter knife for someone new in the usage of the chinese cleaver. Once you get use to it, this maybe the only knife you will be using. If you want something with more heft, look for the Dexter brand or the more expensive alternative like shun, global, or Wustoff.

The blade is strong, light, easy to sharpen. Overall, very well balanced and easy to handle. The handle is solidly attached to the blade and seems as if it may last that way. This may seem like an odd comment, but you'd be surprised how shoddy some of the handle-blade attachments are. Lose that firmness and you lose the functionality.

Handy Gourmet Vegetable Peeling Gloves

Handy Gourmet Vegetable Peeling GlovesBeware of spending your hard-earned money on this product. They say put on the gloves and simply rub to remove potato peels WRONG! What they don't tell you in their ad, but it is written in the instructions that come with the gloves is that you have to boil the potatos for 5 to 6 minutes, let them cool and then peel them. I don't know about you, but that sounds like MORE work than just peeling them the old fashioned way. It's not an expensive item, but when you tack on the Seller's shipping and handling costs it comes to about $15.00. And if you return it, not only do you have to pay return postage (which is normal), but in some instances you have to pay a 25% restocking fee. DON'T FALL FOR THIS LIKE I DID! Remember the old adage (which I forgot momentarily) that "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"! In this case, that is absolutely true!

I thought these gloves sounded great so was stupid enough to

buy one for me and three for my daughter and daughter-in-laws!!

They are completely useless!! You can peel the potatoes in 1/4 of the

time!!! What a waste of money!!!

I'm a impatient person when it comes to cooking. If I can't prepare my foods in under 20 minutes I won't bother.

I seen these tater mitts on TV and was thinking someone out there loves me! It took me a while to get but I ended up winning this off of Ebay because I'm a Ebay junkie and is ticked off!!!

When I took the gloves out of the box I was greeted with a greasy feel and an unpleasant smell. I had to pre-wash these greasy smelly gloves. I went to rub the potato and nothing. I read the instructions because I thought maybe I was doing it wrong but I found out that you have to cook the potato beforehand and then peel it. It claims it's water proof but not heat resistant and the instructions tell you to remove the hot potatoes from the pot and let it cool and then peel. What??? So I tried to do another alternative...Run the potatoes through hot water first and then peel. I will admit the more I rubbed the potato showed some sign of peelage(I know that's not a word)but that was it. I wanted french fries not mashed potatoes so I stopped running it through the hot water. I will say one positive thing about this, if you want a baked potato run the potato through cold water, then rub it with the gloves for a few minutes. It will remove all of the dirt residue off the potato. Other than that, this is a piece of junk.

Have never tried these on vegetables, but got them for pulling (shredding, for non BBQ folks) BBQ pork and beef and they are fantastic! The one size fits all claim is a stretch, as they BARELY fit on my hands. Don't understand the "hard to clean" comments. Just leave them on and wash your hands with dish soap. Voila! Clean gloves.

If you go through all the cooking instructions you will get a pretty much peeled potato, however it is a lot of work. What these glove are really good for is skinning raw chicken. The abrasive gloves grabs on to the slippery skin and that ordinarily hard job is made easy! Canned 17 quarts of chicken legs, all without skin! Beautiful! Easy too!

Rada Cutlery Regular Vegetable Peeler, Made in USA (Pack of 2)

Rada Cutlery Regular Vegetable Peeler, Made in USA, Aluminum HandleMy opinion, because I personally prefer the larger Deluxe size and I use a dishwasher: Three stars for the regular size aluminum version; down one for aluminum handle and one for regular size. Four stars for black handle, regular size. I rate the black handled Deluxe version as five stars. In spite of variable star rating, for various Rada peelers, the unobstructed high quality blade is superb. Read on.

The Amazon descriptions for the great (see other reviews) Rada vegetable peelers sometimes lack key information which, from the radacutlery dot com site, products page, is as follows. Pay attention to the model numbers; assume a smaller size if model number is not listed.

There are TWO peelers:

The Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R132 / W232) is blade 1 3/4", overall 7 1/4".

The Deluxe Vegetable Peeler (Item #: R141 / W241) is blade 2", overall 8 3/8". Note longer blade & handle.

There are TWO handles, one aluminum and one black dishwasher safe. This explains some of the differences in price between listings and some reviewer comments. In reviews, pay attention to the "This review is from:" line, because Amazon groups reviews, not making distinctions between aluminum handle and black handle reviews.

To make comparisons of all the peelers, search within Amazon for, simply, Rada Peeler. That gives you the aluminum peelers with the option to click on black handled version. But, if you click on black handle option you cannot review the item. If, however, you search "Rada peeler black" you can then review the black handled version. I now have only black handled Radas.

If you have a dishwasher AND plan on cleaning your peeler in it, I'd stay away from the nice looking but impractical aluminum handle models, because aluminum reacts with dishwasher detergents, causing it to turn color and over time to look horrible (my opinion) compared to an original finish. If you hand wash the aluminum handled peeler (or knives), no problem. Other reviewers have mentioned the color change. My comments on aluminum and dishwashers is not based on the Rada product specifically; they are based on long, long experience with many different aluminum products in dishwashers.

I wish Rada would make an all stainless handle, but the black dishwasher safe handle models are quite fine. Buy two, one to give to a relative or friend; you'll like it enough to share it.

If you are considering getting some (highly rated) Rada knives, be sure to go to the products page of the company website to get the blade size dimensions which are not given for many knives listed via Amazon, yet which is key info for online purchasing, so you can compare to your knives currently in counter-top holders or your drawers. Buy black dishwasher safe handles!

This is the very best vegetable peeler I've ever used, in four decades of cooking. It was given to me as a gift 10 years ago from a friend in the food-service industry, and it is still as sharp and effective as when it was new (I DON'T wash it in the dishwasher.) In fact, I so fell in love with this peeler, that when I replaced my old knives two years ago, I replaced them with Rada steak and preparation knives. They keep an edge like no other (JA Henckels doesn't compare), and when they do get dull, they sharpen up with just a few quick strokes. And they're WAY less expensive than their better-known competitors. And they're made in the USA.

I bought these to give as gifts after some friends came to my house to help with a large-quantity cooking event for our church, and was shocked at how easy to use, how well-balanced, and how SHARP this peeler is.

I wasted lots of money on peelers from the local stores, including Oxo and Zylis, and none were as good as these. I think there may be better peelers out there in the world (hence 4 stars), but I've never used one.

I swear I still have my first Rada peeler and it is still pretty sharp after 10 years! I was still using it when I came across these at such a great price. I thought I would stock up because these are so so good. I've tried so many other peelers and hate the little curved protectors the newer ones have nowadays. They dull so easily. But not this one! You will truly find it to be your best friend in the kitchen. I cook everyday and I use it constantly. I have Rada knives also and would highly recommend them also.

My wife just returned from Alaska to here (Samoa) and brought this for me (I am the cook). Fanatastic! I have Arthritis in both hands and using this little beauty is a breeze. The bowl makes it almost as fast as a food processor but more fun and useful exercise for these aging joints.

This came from the Great Alaska Ulu Company. The best quality in a low cost knife I have ever owned. Wish I had this 30 years ago. A keeper for sure and a place on the bench for ever.

The knife came with the bowl/chopping board and (knife holder), cookbook and DVD. A class act for sure.

All Ware Stainless Steel Pineapple Easy Slicer and De-Corer

All Ware Stainless Steel Pineapple Easy Slicer and De-CorerI bought the stainless steel pineapple slicer because I had been given the plastic model. The plastic slicer did a very nice job, but I knew it wasn't going to last very long. However, for some reason the steel version is smaller than the plastic model, and as a result, the core often isn't completely cut out, resulting in some tough pieces attached to each slice. Also, since it doesn't slice as wide a diameter as the plastic model, I am forced to manually trim the pineapple that the cutter failed to remove from the outer skin, in order to reduce waste. However, the steel slicer cuts much easier than the plastic model because it's edge is much sharper. I am very disappointed with the steel model, especially since it costs 2 1/2 times as much as the plastic model.

I purchased this item to replace a plastic version of the pineapple slicer. The handle of my original slicer broke after about three years use. The stainless steel version uses the same handle, so it is probably the weakest item of the slicer and may also break in the future. The stainless steel slicer requires much less force than the plastic version to cut through the pineapple. However the center coring portion of the stainless steel version is so sharp, it doesn't necessarily follow the core of the pineapple to the bottom of the pineapple. The plastic version always centered on the pineapple core.

The stainless steel slicer produces thicker slices, which is a plus. However I was disappointed to find the diameter of the steel slicer smaller than that of the plastic version. This results in useable pineapple not being removed from the shell of the pineapple. I would have preferred having the steel slicer cut at the same diameter as the plastic version.

In summary, the Pineapple Easy Slicer Stainless Steel is a useful tool for coring and slicing fresh pineapple. It could have been even better if the diameter of the pineapple slicer were the same as that of the plastic version.

Buy All Ware Stainless Steel Pineapple Easy Slicer and De-Corer Now

The slicer works just fine but where the blade is attached to the handle there is a small space that is very hard to clean. You have to use a pointed knife to remove the pieces of pineapple that get stuck there. I had a plastic slicer before where the cutting blade and the handle were one piece and very easy to clean.

Read Best Reviews of All Ware Stainless Steel Pineapple Easy Slicer and De-Corer Here

It's strong and easy to use. Just slice the top off the pineapple, put the slicer on top and turn, it cuts and cores in less than a minute and you have the pineapple sliced and ready to eat. Plus you can use the remaining shell as a cup or bowl. No more slicing the pineapple in half and then slicing the halfs again and again to get wedges and then trying to cut off the outer skin and picking out the "eyes" that remain in the pieces , now you still had to cut the core off and each wedge into pieces -it was a lot of work and always made a mess.

Want All Ware Stainless Steel Pineapple Easy Slicer and De-Corer Discount?

Super easy to use and it does not shred the pineapple. It cuts it in one continuous spiral. And I love how it leaves behind the core and the shell, and if you break off the core, you have a nice drink container!

Wusthof 5-in. Gourmet Sandwich Spreader.

Wusthof 5-in. Gourmet Sandwich Spreader. This Wusthof "spreader" combines a serrated bread knife with a spreader head. The knife edge side has serrated pointed teeth like a bread or tomato knife which makes it easier for me when I cut sandwiches, slice bagels, slice crusty rolls, and even slice tomatoes. The knife/spreader is just under 9 ½" long (from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle). The blade is both longer (just under 4 ¾") and the head of the knife is wider (just under 1 ¾" at its widest) than the spreader knife I use. There is just under 3 ¼" of serrations from the lower tip of the front of the knife going back to the handle. And the remaining edge is a straight knife blade that is a little over 1 ¾" long. Because this knife has no pointed tip, it takes just a bit of patience to carefully make that first opening in a bagel or roll before I can really begin slicing. Because this knife has sharp edges, use care if you have young kids helping to make sandwiches.

I prefer to put on spread using the non-serrated side of the knife but I'll have to keep the serrated side of the knife in mind when I put icing on things like cupcakes to put on fancy swirls.

This Wusthof's Gourmet knife has what I'll call a full half tang. Huh? I can see a full tang on top of the handle while the bottom of the handle has no exposed tang. I'm guessing this gives the knife strength and me control when cutting. I like the fit between the tang and the handle: there is no gap just like any better quality knife.

The instruction on the back of the blister package says they recommend hand washing the knife. Heck, it even recommends storing this knife in a knife block or basically treating the knife like it's a cutlery knife. So I wash this knife by hand and I use a knife guard to store this knife in my knife drawer.

PROS:

Combines a tomato/bread knife with a spreader so you can use one knife for making sandwiches or preparing your morning bagels.

A larger head means less scooping from a jar and fewer strokes to put on spread.

The longer blade means you can reach the bottom of most jars.

CONS

The wider head may make it difficult to get into some jar necks when compared with other spreaders.

If you look around, most sandwich spreaders are small, frumpy blades that are made for little more than buttering a muffin. Not this Wusthof, which includes its classic handle design along with a strong sharply serrated blade that flexes slightly. As usual, Amazon has the dimensions wrong. This knife measures 9.25 inches long and its blade is 2" wide. You're not cheated on handle length either; it's the same as other classic Wusthof knives. That means it can reach to the bottom of most jars with ease. If you've never had a spreader around the house, you're in for a treat. It's a tool you will use for the rest of your life, and one of these Wusthof spreaders will last that long. Don't leave them soaking in water nor submit them to the dishwasher; they clean quickly and easily, then wipe dry.

Buy Wusthof 5-in. Gourmet Sandwich Spreader. Now

I purchased the Wusthof Gourmet block set and a few other Wusthof knives. I came across this sandwich spreader and it reminded me of when I used to work in a little deli in college so I purchased it. I have to say I use this for any spreading needs now, in place of using a butter knife. I have used it to spread butter, peanut butter, jellies, condiments, etc. It spreads better than a butter knife and the wider spreading area makes the job quicker. It is also serrated on one edge which allows for cutting toast etc. It is sharp enough on the serrated edge that I actually cut myself on it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a new utensil for spreading that works better than a butter knife.

Read Best Reviews of Wusthof 5-in. Gourmet Sandwich Spreader. Here

This little spreader makes spreading peanut butter, mayo etc so much easier and faster. The blade is short than a typical butter knife and certainly much wider so keeping the jam or whatever on the bread works very well. This certainly isn't a "need" item, but if you make a lot of sandwiches like we do in our household (peanut butter is food group for our boys) this little gadget will make life a little easier.

Sagaform Black Picnic Backpack for 4

Sagaform Black Picnic Backpack for 4The pack itself wasn't too bad although not exactly like the picture displayed as it does not come with the detachable wine bottle holder. The picnic supplies were cheap though and looked to be poor quality. We have a more thorough picnic backpack we received as a wedding gift years ago (now chewed thanks to a new puppy!) and I decided I'd much rather spend a little more for the quality. The main reason not to buy this though is the horrible customer service if you want to return the item. "If" you're lucky enough to get someone to answer the phone, be prepared for the run-around. Sent it back insured with delivery confirmation and have been waiting 4+ weeks for a refund. Overall disappointed in product and even more so in the lack of customer service by this seller.

Mac Knife Superior Santoku Knife

Mac Knife Superior Santoku Knife, Set of 2For many years I did my chopping with a high-quality Henckels Twin chef's knife. I had received an Anolon Advanced 5-Inch Santoku as a gift, which was so bad that I dismissed the value of Santoku knives for a long time. Boy, I didn't know what I was missing! Santokus are incredible, as long as you buy the right one.

The MAC Santoku has an incredibly sharp and narrow blade. It requires so much less effort to cut up vegetables than a chef's knife. It also makes it much easier to hold an onion together while chopping, as you don't have a thick blade pushing the pieces apart. The MAC also holds its edge very well, and only requires occasional sharpening.

This isn't appropriate as an only knife. The thin blade means that it's really not useful for anything where the blade might get bent or hit something hard. It's not for jointing or boning poultry, cutting super-hard cheeses, getting chunks off of thick blocks of chocolate, etc. However, for chopping and slicing vegetables, this works so much better than a chef's knife to be well worth the money.

America's Test Kitchen rated this #1. I bought it even though I have the Shun knife which cost more than double what this knife does. Well, the Mac knife is amazing--it is hands down my favorite knife and I have many. Buy the Mac ceramic sharpening steel as well. This knife should not be sharpened with an electric knife sharpener.

Also, the blade is very thin so don't use it to try to cut off a wedge of Reggiano cheese---you can break the blade.

Buy Mac Knife Superior Santoku Knife Now

I bought this knife after doing lots of research because I wanted one good knife that would do the job and would be built to last. After a recent trip home to my parents house, I realized I made the right choice. They have terrible knives. I will be buying them one of these for Christmas this year.

This knife is fabulous. It cuts well without needing any of my strenth to force it to do so, which I believe to be the true test of a good knife. You shouldn't have to force it to cut. It works well on everything! I can't imagine owning anything else.

About 45 years ago, I purchased this knife in a neighborhood cooking shop. I asked the salesman about sharpening and he showed me that I could pass its blade gently on the rough ceramic base of a coffee mug. I have used and abused this knife for years and it has never failed. A few weeks ago, it was misplaced by houseguests who were cooking in my kitchen. After frantic searches, I ordered another Mac knife, the mac MTH 80 8" version. By the time it arrived, I had found the smaller one. Now I have two great knives that will certainly outlast me. I think I'll put them in my will for future generations.

Want Mac Knife Superior Santoku Knife Discount?

I first tried a Mac side by side with a Global and a Forschner. A professional chef laid a piece of red bell pepper down and filleted the meat off the skin. I tried the same with all three knives. I came home from that knife skills class and ordered my own Mac santoku. Cutting is effortless and a pleasure. Even thick carrots and potatoes offer no challenge.

Buy this knife, and you will not be sorry.

My other knives just sit in the block and get jealous.

Be very careful, this knife is SHARP out of the box.

I suggest the Mac ceramic sharpening rod to go with this, to keep that edge.

Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Stone Pro Sharpening StoneI just purchased this product to use on my Henckels knifes. About two years ago i purchased a set of 5 star Henckels knifes, after good use they were starting to become pretty dull, the sharpening steel that came with the set did the trick for about 2 or 3 uses but then it was back to being dull. I was told what i needed to have was a sharpening stone and use it in conjunction with the steel.

The written directions were straight forward and somewhat easy to understand. The diagrams though were a little difficult to understand for a novice, but i jumped on Youtube and looked up knife sharpening which made it pretty complete.

There's two side, one a rough sharpening stone and the othere a smooth for finishing. I put a little bit of water on the stone, after i was done using both the stone and the steel sharpener my knifes are just as good as when i bought them.

No good kitchen is complete without a stone sharpner, sharp knifes equals safe fingers.

This product effectively sharpens Henckels knives after they begin to dull over time. I would definitely advise practicing with some junk knives until you are familiar with the sharpening motions. I won't say the stone restores the original sharpness, but I have been very happy with the results. I imagine that with time and practice, one would be able to sharpen knives to near original sharpness. I prefer to use the stone to other knife sharpeners because it will not gouge the blade as long as the instructions are carefully followed.

The only problem I have had with this stone has to do with shipping. I ordered one for myself and it arrived with a cracked and chipped case, which I fixed with super glue. I ordered a second stone as a gift and it also had a cracked and chipped case. I did not have any problems with broken or cracked stones on either order. The merchant should probably better prepare this product for shipment.

This stone gets my cold forged, stainless steel knives razor sharp. I have had this stone combination for a couple years now and it works great. The plastic case with rubber stops holds the stone well on the counter top. The coarse grit side quickly get all the nicks out of the blade and reshapes the bevel. The fine side puts on a mirrored, razor edge. You have to know how to do the work but after a little practice you can feel when the angle is right. I am very satisfied with this product.

I do the cooking at my home. I took a free knife sharpening class at Sur la Table, then bought this. You can buy something fancier, but this is all you need. Take that free class at Sur la Table first to make the most of this modest investment.

I like the price and having 2 surfaces in one stone. Storage case/holder makes the stone easy to use. It took a couple uses to get the knack but now all my knives are in good shape.

Ateco 1398 Pastry Cutter with Fluted Wheel

Ateco 1398 Pastry Cutter with Fluted WheelThe product arrived promptly however, it is a very thin quality metal and I expected something heavier in guage. Do not like the "feel" of it when used. I will be searching for another that has a wooden handle.

Buyer beware! This pastry cutter is indeed stainless steel however it is 2 dimensional and is so small that it is hard to work with.

I was disappointed with the quality. Very thin material. I think it will break if I apply any pressure while I cut my pasta. The wheel is not sturdy, and the handle is not at all comfortable.

This was a good buy...for what it's worth. It is made of a thinner metal than I thought, but it works well despite that.

I expected a little better quality. It looks cheap and I would be willing to pay more for a better made product.

Microplane 34007 Kitchen Cut-Protection Glove

Microplane 34007 Kitchen Cut-Protection GloveI bought this glove to use with my mandoline slicer, but now that I have it I use it with my microplane, other food graters, and sometimes when I have a lot of knife work to do I put in on my left hand while I slice, dice and chop with sharp knives in my right hand. I thought it might be a bit cumbersome, but it's not at all. I think it's important to remember that this glove is cut RESISTANT, not cut proof, so reasonable precautions should not be abandoned.

The glove fits my hand very well, but I can see that it might be too small for others. I normally wear a woman's size small glove. This Microplane glove is quite flexible though, and I'm certain it would easily fit a woman's size medium or even large. One man's review here indicates he struggled but managed to get it on his bigger hand. I agree that it would be helpful if the manufacturer offered another one or two size options.

Obviously the glove will need cleaning after using it to hold food. While the glove is machine washable, it's not machine dryable. Here's what I do to clean the glove in between machines washings => with the glove still on my hand, I squeeze some dish soap onto it and then wash it under warm running water with the help of a small kitchen cleaning brush if needed. Then I rinse it, blot most of the water off with a hand towel, and let it air dry. I've had no problem with lingering odors using this or the machine method of washing.

Although expensive, this glove is a time and hand saver! I use it regularly when slicing horizontally into onions, shallots, etc. to protect me from cuts when the knife blade slips. It also works great for protecting my fingers and fingernails when I grate cheese on a box grater. Using the Microplane glove means that I can grate gruyere right down to the rind and avoid nicking my fingers up or having nail polish chips getting into the food.

I bought one of these to provide some protection for my thumb when pushing odd-shaped vegetables through a v-slicer. I've maybe done this 6-7 times for a few minutes, very carefully. Good thing I watched what I was doing the glove is cut cleanly through part of the thumb. This is on a crappy home v-slicer, not on a piece of professional equipment or a ninja's sword or something. I think a leather driving glove would provide better protection.

Essentially, this product is worthless. Unless you're concerned your fingers are too long.

I absolutly love this. I bought this to use with my mandolin. It's a piece of mind knowing that in case I slip with the guard, I have this glove as backup. I think in the near future I'll buy another glove for the othr hand, just in case I forget and do something stupid with the other hand! Getting cut is no picnic. For me it takes about a week to heal (minor cuts/no tendons involved) and doing my daily chores takes forever.

I had the same bad experience as the reviewers who dealt with HTW. I did NOT receive the Microplane brand glove listed and described. Instead I received a different brand glove. Unfortunately I didn't do my research by reading the reviews for HTW before buying. If I had, I wouldn't have made the purchase. The one good thing was that the return process was fairly simple. Hopefully Amazon will make the proper adjustments with this product and seller.

Unica Flatware Collection "Daniel" 24-Piece White-Handle, Vibro Finish Flatware Set plus Hot Pink O

Unica Flatware Collection 'Daniel' 24-Piece White-Handle, Vibro Finish Flatware Set plus Hot Pink Organizer, Service for 6I got this set in a pinch when my roommate moved out and I needed silverware. They're inexpensive and definitely wouldn't fool picky mother-in-laws but they're just fine for everyday use and especially first places. I've had no issues with them being cheap, rusting, etc.

I'm allergic to nickel which means I need acrylic handle flatware. Our old set was falling apart so we shopped around and found a beautiful (very expensive) set. It's so beautiful that now I just want to keep it for best. So, we were back to square one as far as replacing our existing flatware. The pictures of this set look similar to the new ones we purchased but that's about it. I should have taken the other reviews seriously. It's So very small. The knife length is 8 inches. the handle part is 3 3/4. The fork length is 5 inches

This would be good for a child or very old person with tiny hands (like my mum). It has no weight whatsoever. I hate to leave a bad review but I would NOT recommend this product to anyone! I'm not even going to bother to send it back, I've already wasted my money.

Chef Works WBLK-000 Women's Chef Pants, Black, Size XS

Chef Works WBLK-000 Women's Chef Pants, Black, Size XSThe first chef pants ever that make you feel and look like WOMAN!!! I love them!!! no complaints! Not a stupid Baggy pant!

Granddaughter loves these pants -she just graduated last May with her degree in Culinary Arts and now is the "grill chef" at a resort on Kentucky Lake. They wash beautifully, tumble dry without the need for ironing, and I had to cut off only about 4 in. from them instead of the usual 6-8in. She's only 5'2". We'll buy more as soon as she makes some money!

After a month wearing the school-issued (men's) pants at my pastry school, I ordered these women's chef pants. I love them! Rather than cutting a huge, elastic-y mark across your midsection like the men's pants, these rest on your hips the way they are supposed to. Infinitely more comfortable than the one-size-fits-all men's versions.

Note: I also ordered the cargo version of these Chef Works pants, which are also great-fitting for women, but I prefer this boot cut more. No complaints here other than I wish I had ordered two pairs.

These pants are advertised to be more "lady-like" but they look just as bad as all the rest of the kitchen wear. I usually wear a Med. and these look like clown pants on me. Maybe a small will look more like normal pants.
