Arcos Maitre 7-Inch Granton Edge Santoku Knife
Really good product from a good company. It's not heavy, actually even lighter than I expected. The grip is good and comfortable even for people with big palms like myself.It's not forged so it's probably not the best chef's knife you can find but it's very decent for the price and fun to use.
One thing I noticed and was weird but honestly I don't know if it's me or it should be like that the grooves on the knife are on the left face of the blade and if you're right handed then you should hold whatever you chop with your left hand. since the grooves are on the left face then the "non sticking" benefit happens in the side you don't need it... Again, I don't know if it's a problem or not but I got used to it and I enjoy working with it.
Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

I've had these knives for about 4 months. They can cut well for how cheap they are, but I snapped the handle trying to cut through pepperjack cheese. The metal part of the blade does not go far enough through the handles. Not a quality product by any means, but they are good if you need a cheap set of knives. They work for my college dorm kitchen.

I would give this knife 6 stars if I could. I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law and I'm not sure I can let it leave my house. It is crazy sharp and incredibly well balanced and aside from function it looks AMAZING!!!!!I would also give Yoshihiro Cutlery a 5 star seller rating as well. It arrived 2 days before it was estimated to arrive and the knife was exactly as pictured.

This is my first set of "quality" knives that I've actually picked out and bought on my own. I bought the set from a local department store. I did not intend to buy these knives, but I came across them while browsing for knife sets just to get some estimates, and I ended up with them in my cart. I hardly get a chance to cook and really just wanted a set for decoration and for special occasions. But, I found this set to be a great starter set. Right out of the box the knives were sharp and they feel pretty well balanced; they also have a pretty decent weight. So far, I have used one of the steak knives to cut a sandwich...so far, so good :-). I was really looking for something to cut my "Famous" New York Style Cheesecake. I make cheesecake and when I cut it, the cake sticks to the knife or whatever I am using. The slices pretty much crumble as I am cutting. Fortunately the taste compensates for the appearance!Using this slicer, I figured I might be okay using it on a flat bottomed cheesecake out of an expansion pan. The cheesecake still stuck. The only difference was before I would have one little mess at a time with each slice. When I went to complete the cut with this new device slicing for the first time, there was an "Uh-oh" as I started pulling it up finding that I could now create messes on a much grander scale since I could now cut (or destroy) multiple slices in one stroke as they all stuck to the slicer and crumbled at once. This "Perfect Slice Slicer" did not solve my problem. This was a waste of time and money just enought to make it not worth sending back. I don't foresee any special uses for it to occupy space in my kitchen and it will likely end up at a local Thrift Store.
This device will only slice as long as the food item is on a flat surface (nope, don't see how it would slice pies). If it is used to cut anything that might stick to it, (like maybe cheesecake or very moist cake), it will stick as you come back up to complete the cut. I suppose one could use it to mark absolutely perfectly even sized portions, but I guess I'm just not that anal. I think a knife and pie server work as well or better.
I have been looking for something that will slice my cheesecake (kind of like those presliced cheesecakes in Costco where there are slices of plastic between every slice) and I have become frustrated in trying to find something... Still Looking!

The tip, however, seems very cheap, is not well attached, and really isn't all that "nonslip. I usually dont hold it against a surface, but if you do, just be careful, and maybe put the tip on a damp rag to further avoid slippage.

Oneida Damask Rose 20-Piece Flatware Set, Service for 4
This is not the same quality as the old Heirloom Damask Rose Oneida used to make, but this is very good quality and made in the USA. Finish is very nice, no problems with the finish or quality. I was pleased to add it to my Heirloom that needs a few extra pieces. It is acceptable in all ways, but I wish they still made the 'old' Heirloom Damask Rose. :(

I am a knife fanatic. The only knife I have in the kitchen that is better than this is a hand made Japanese chef's knife, which I prize. I bought Shun Knives that looked promising, felt good in the hand, were fantastically sharp but would develop mico chips in the blade. I do not mistreat my knives in any way. I figured they were too brittle....such a shame. I reground the paring knife to a less thin edge and it is OK. These Ergo knives have a completely different feel. I can imagine a professional chef appreciating them for their ease of chopping etc. The Sanduko does not stick as some others do . I like the contoured handle in the Guy Fieri line but alas they do not have the very sharp point as in the 6 inch version. A knife which tapers to a very sharp point has advantages to a drop point. But enough for now, for the price this is probably a life time knife if you know about knife care otherwise Victorinox is a good buy.
Shun Premier Paring Knife, 4-Inch
This is a gorgeous knife. As soon as it arrived I was in awe of it. I also love the handle, it fits in the hand very well, and lets you grip outside of the danger zone of the backside of your knife. The blade is razor sharp, I have no doubs that a fast swing could cleanly remove a finger (bone included).Now to the dissapointing part of this knife. After only having the knife for about a week, I was cleaning it and tapped the side of my sink. Not hard, not even enough to make me take a second look at the knife. Then when I put it up I saw it, the tip bent, not bad, but enough to notice. Having a lot of experience with knives, I just kind of frowned and give it a light push back into place. With almost no force applied the tip snaps off. Now I'm officially upset, for a knife of this price I expect much more. Again, I shrug it off becaause it's nothing I can't have ground down. Now I'm treating the knife with kit gloves, not even so much as washing it with a rough sponge. Everything went well for about another week. Then without cause I notice the tip has begun fragmenting off. Now it's in too bad of shape to be fixed and will soon be unusable.
I sincerely pray that there was a defect in the making of the blade because I do want to give these guys another try, I absolutely love the look, feel, and function of this knife; but be warned, handle this knife like it's piece of antique china.

I love my new Shun paring knife. I use my knives a lot, for many catered events.It makes quick, and easy work, of all of my paring needs. The 16 degree cutting angle, on each side, and the flat grind, with the quick taper , make cutting veges, and fruit, a pleasure. The Isuchime ,or hammered look ,helps the knife to be smooth, and to slide easily, thru the food, it is cutting.

My wife enjoys watching the cooking shows and trying out new things in the kitchen but our previous knife sets were all garbage at a third or less the price of these. Amazon as usual had the best price on this item even though these high end knife sets are WAY overpriced in my opinion.As far as the quality, I've never seen or used better. They are sharp out of the box and you can feel the difference in these and your standard knifes. There is a reason you see these used by professional chefs once you bite the bullet and incur the initial cost you will be glad you made the switch from the "disposable" big box store sets.

2 of the new knives have flaws in workmanship.One knife has a flaw in the SS Blade "quit noticeable"
and the other flaw is only half of one blade was polished at the top section of the handle.
MY first thought is these knifes are rejects and therefore they are sold cheaper.

Shun Premier Slicing Knife, 9-1/2-Inch
This knife is very sharp, thin, and well balanced. It wasn't finished with quite the care of the 6" chef's knife I bought just before purchasing this one, in that the metal of the handle was slightly wider than the wood creating a tiny sharp edge at the boundaries. I took a diamond sharpening tool and a fine finish stone and about an hour's work to bring the metal edge down flush with the wood, until now it feels perfect. This tool makes slicing bread, roast beef, fish, etc. a real joy.

Love Shun knives..probably the best I have ever owned. They slice through a melon like it was butter. They do need to be handled carefully...always cut on a block and don't bang them around in the sink when washing..the tips are fragile and I actually broke off the tip somehow. The knife could be repaired fortunately since it was just the very tip. Expensive..but well worth the price. Oneida Flight 45-Piece Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8
I've had these for over 5 years now and aside from my own mistakes (bending the spoons in hard ice cream; losing pieces) I haven't had any problems with them. I don't understand what the 18/0 rating means or why other people find it substandard, but I can tell you this: I'm buying another set to replace all the ones we've lost or accidentally thrown away because all the remaining pieces still look perfect after 5 years. If people need anything better than these, I can't understand why. No stains, no rust, no discoloration, no significant scratches, no gouges, no dulling of the finish, nothing. What else could people be looking for?One side note: I've seen a different cheaper version of this same style at Wal-Mart, but the pieces there are thinner and not as substantial as these. The set pictured here is the nicer, beefier version.

We've have two of this set (Service for 16) for over 6 years now and they're still in good shape. Let me tell you, we are heavy duty eaters here! They get used daily and also at frequent large family gatherings. The utensils have held up against being used as tools, run through the dishwasher hundreds of times, lost in the disposal and they are still able to shovel food into our mouths! Sure, some of the spoons and forks have gotten bent when abused but they straighten right up with a tweak or two. The stiff knife blades will cut right through a steak. They've got a nice heft to them that gives you confidence that your food will make it to your mouth without the fork bending. People who have complained that these are 18/0 and not 18/10 Stainless are lame. For this use 18/0 is more than adequate (I'm an engineer so there!) They've never rusted. They are not as shiny after being abused for six year but that has nothing to do with the type of steel. I am extremely pleased with this set. It is amazing for the price! I've been looking for a casual set for a while now, and found this one. I played with the idea of purchasing it, then the price went down to 39.99, and I was sold!!I read a reveiw that said the knife was 2 separate pieces, and can thus separate, but the knives I received are most surely one piece of steel. They are very nice, not too fancy. I have square plates and wavy glasses and these go great! They are basic without being dull. I love them!!

This was my first set of flatware when I moved out on my own. After years of handwashing and everyday use, the necks of the spoons and tines of the dinner forks started to bend.Since I needed more place settings and at the time was not aware I could go online find the pattern, I replaced Flight with Mooncrest and am INFINATELY happier with the Mooncrest pattern.
Mooncrest is twice as heavy, practically destruction-proof, and are holding up MUCH better than the pieces of the Flight set I still have left.
Flight is OK for everyday use, but I would never use the same set for casual entertaining because of the use they cannot sustain.
Get the Mooncrest pattern if you need a sturdy set that you can interchange with everyday use and casual entertaining.

This is a very funny item to give to a man (or woman) who can't get enough tools. I gave it to my boyfriend to cut his birthday cake with and the laughter was widespread. It is a bit to large and could really have a better cutting edge, plus the color is a bit bland, but for the price it is a fantastic gag gift item and certainly worth the giggles!
