Towle Wave 20-Piece Flatware Set
You will not be disappointed with this flatware! It is sturdy, has a nice heavy-weight feel, great balance, beautiful set that can be dressed up or down, and cleans up easily in the dishwasher. Knives are sharp enough that my steak knives are gathering dust. Spoons are sturdy enough that I don't bother with an ice cream scoop because these won't bend a bit.Maybe it's the by-product of too many years eating with cafeteria silverware and hand-me-downs, but when I went shopping for a new set of flatware, I knew that I wanted something that felt substantial in my hands. I went to the local Bed, Bath and Beyond, and picked up every knife from their various display sets to find one that didn't feel flimsy or awkward to hold. As soon as I picked up the Wave knife, I knew that I'd fallen in love (I didn't know that was possible with flatware). Each piece is balanced wonderfully, and the handles are comfortable in your grip. Amazon had a much better price, so I bought online, and had the benefit of knowing that these are so much more impressive in person than they initially appear online.
If you are only going to buy one set of flatware, I recommend the Wave. It is sturdy and dishwasher safe, making it great for everyday use, but it looks striking laid out on my dining table with good china as well. I've received lots of compliments on this set.
Very highly recommend! Best silverware for the price, hands down.I love the feel of this simple, yet elegant set. However, within a very short time of owning this set the pieces seem to be falling apart. It looks like the silverware is actually a silver coated plastic, and some of the silver has come off.

im very picky about my silverware and just recently rid myself of a great set because i purchased this Wave flatware. I am fond of a rounded handle because i want to be able to fork cut something on my plate without the handle digging into my other finger. This flatware exceeded my expectations for quality and looks. I am not fond of having to put them in the dishwasher (handwashing them creates finger prints/smudges on the handles) but they come out shiny perfect everytime. i am using these as everyday silverware but for some people it'd be the "good silverware" to put away for special occasions. I did, however, have to purchase another (bigger) set from another website because my family is larger than most and amazon did not have the 42 piece. I am happy with this product and Amazon shopping.Read Best Reviews of Towle Wave 20-Piece Flatware Set Here
This set looks nice and arrived in time but the very first time I used them, I noticed one of the forks had gotten scratched. It was a small party with just four adults and I hand-washed them immediately after. Needless to say I was very disappointed.Want Towle Wave 20-Piece Flatware Set Discount?
I love this flatware. The stems have a round cross-section, not flat, which means that not only does it have good weight, but that they are stronger in terms of bending. I plowed through rock-hard ice cream (freezer on too cold) without any bending at all. They also look really nice, and dont get spotting from the dishwasher. There is only one problem I see, and that is on that most people probably wont have. I eat my meals from the coffee table/sofa/my lap, and the weight of the flatware often causes it to fly off the plate if I move the plate. This was never an issue with crappy lightweight flatware, but if you dont move your dinnerplates with the forks hanging off the edge, lol, you shouldnt have a problem.
All in all, I am really happy with this set. Good job.
Wild Eye Designs Standing Cheese Knife, Stainless Steel
This little gadget works great for parties or for spreading butter, peanut butter, salad dressing, or the like when making multiple sandwiches, wraps, crackers, or other finger food. It stands up instead of having to rest it on a plate. As such, the blade is less likely to become contaminated with bacteria etc. For this reason, it works well for parties. Although it is suppose to be used for cheese, I use it for other spreadables. I haven't used it for cheese.FABULOUS!! Quirky but so practical. Conversation piece on the table. So cute!! LOVE IT. Wusthof Silverpoint II 10-Piece Knife Set with Block
Granted, I've owned these knives for almost a week now. However, I have been finding reasons to dice everything just to get a feel for them. TRUE, they are very light and thin. However feel very sturdy at the same time. German engineering I supposed. I was trying to bend the blade and it feels very solid despite it's light weight. I can understand people thinking that light would correlate to weak and or flimsy. But, these are actually the opposite of that. So far I have been able to slice through bagels and all sorts of fruits and vegetables to create paper thing slice. All of them clean, easy cuts. My last set of knives were from Chicago Cutlery and these knives put them to shame. Hopefully I'll feel the same a year from now, however my first week I can't be happier with this purchase. My wife and I got these knives from Macy's the day after Thanksgiving for a super deal of 80.00 and we have loved them ever since. I had two Chicago Cutlery sets that these replaced. They are excellent knives 5 months later still very very sharp and cut with ease I was able to slice flat iron steak almost paper thin for fajita. I would highly recommend these. They are light in the hand and pretty well balanced. The Santoku (spelling?) and the Chef knife are easily my favorites. These are the best knives I have ever used. We've had these knives for a couple of weeks now and my wife really is impressed. They are VERY sharp and well balanced. She keeps talking about the knives and was somewhat resistent to my wanting to buy them. I suggested we keep them in the cupboard but she insists on keeping them on our kitchen counter top in full view. They do come with a very nice knife block made of hardwood. I received this item very quickly and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The set is beautiful, thick, and sturdy. Looks very difficult to dent up. The handles do not get hot (even on high heat) and are very attractive. Cleanup is easy. I chose this product because of the amount of pots and lids, and a lid for the frying pan is included. I would highly recommend this product.Nonstick works wonderfully, bowed bottom of sides is perfect fit for big plastic spoons so no sauce is ever left over. Cleanup is super quick and easy, they heat evenly and quickly. Also the shape of the sides where it bows out makes the perfect controlled boil for pasta, spaghetti, even fettuccine and macaroni require 1/2 the stirring as before.Buy Vinaroz 12-Piece Vicenza Stainless Steel Cookware Set Now

10" Crust Buster Knife - Wusthof Gourmet
I have several serrated kitchen knives, however this one surpasses them all. I bought it because I have a bread machine and I started baking my own loaves. It is very difficult to get evenly cut slices without a knife like this. This is my "go to" knife for slicing bread and larger items like watermelon. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving to see how well it does on a 20+ lb turkey...Zhen Japanese VG-10 Light Slicer Chopping Chef Butcher Knife 6.5"
The Zhen light "cleaver" isn't a cleaver at all. It's a Chinese vegetable knife the Asian version of the chef's knife that coincidentally has the same profile as a western style cleaver. Unlike a cleaver the blade is thin and the grinding is a much more narrow angle. This means that the blade is too delicate to operate as a cleaver, but is excellent for fine dicing and thin slicing when used as a chef's knife. Like a chef's knife the blade is slightly curved and is used with a rocking motion. Chinese vegetable knives have the edge over chef's knives because their higher mass and blade height give them more inertia and cutting power. Their high blade height makes them a bit awkward for newbies however. You must hold the food carefully on one side of the blade and feed it into the blade. That's where the Zhen light cleaver comes in. With it's lower blade height it feels more agile and has less of a learning curve for western cooks learning to use this excellent type of blade. Held choked up on the handle the balance is perfect. The factory grind on the edge is excellent. The edge is razor sharp and has held for dozens of uses so far.Zhen is a Taiwanese knife company that specializes in knives reminiscent of the Japanese line called Shun. They have two main lines: a carbon stainless steel series and a fancier prettier damascus steel series (not the item on offer here). The carbon stainless series uses 3 layer construction, with a core of high carbon "VG-10" stainless steel in the middle (to constitute the edge) with layers of high carbon stainless on either side. The use of VG-10 steel and the 3 layer construction is a definite homage to Japanese high end knife manufacturing. The principle benefit of VG-10 steel is that its high Rockwell hardness value which means it will hold an edge better than normal stainless steel. The downsides are that it is more easy to chip, and will be less stain resistant. The handle is made of a rubber type material which is comfortable to grip. The edge of the blade is heavily frosted on the grinding bevel above the edge. I don't know if this is meant to hide the fusion line of the two types of metal or improve the release properties of food on the broad surface of the blade but it is attractive and does help vegetables release. The blade is surprisingly thin and light for such a broad profile. The thin-ness translates to agile slicing. I doubt it has the strength to chop bones or other very tough food items (such as the stems of winter squash, for example). Indeed the instruction sheet for this knife specifically warns against using it for bones underscoring the fact that is is a Chinese vegetable knife and not a cleaver.
All in all, the construction is amazing for the price. I will follow up on how well it holds up over time. I will say for the moment that initial quality is surprisingly high for such a reasonably priced item. At this price level you usually get rustable carbon steel with a rat tail tang and a cheap wooden handle with rings of loose metal as the bolsters. Here you get an exotic fused blade of the type used in the manufacture of Samurai swords, using an exotic type of steel I've never seen outside of Japan before. The blade shape is clearly forged, not stamped, with impressive grinding and finishing. The full tang and nice heel piece are also unusual at this price. Performance in use has been in line with the luxury appearance: excellent. So far I'd rate this item as an extreme bargain when used as a chef's knife not a cleaver. It's a taste of high end Japanese materials and construction, but made in Taiwan, with a price to match. My wife is very happy with me for buying her this knife. It is sharp and beautiful. I do like using it, and I think the way it was built to last.

I love to cook and like anyone who spends a decent amount of time in the kitchen experimenting and trying to turn our culinary delights to impress family and friends, you come to rely upon your tools. And a good knives are one of the key items. I have a few good ones that I have invested in. I wasn't so sure about a 'cleaver style' knife and if it would work for me, so I liked the price point of this, it seemed enough to get a decent knife without paying a kings randsom for something I wasn't sure I was going to like.I'm so glad I did, this is a fantastic knife. It's really light and easy to use, but the edge is razor sharp on arrival. I've had it 3 months and have used it nearly every day since then, and it hasn't needed sharpening, its still as sharp, so I'm very impressed. If you do a lot of vegetables and want to get through them fast, this is a great slicer and dicer that you won't regret and shoots way beyond the price point, its more comfortable to use and keeps an edge better than knives that I have that are 3 or 4 times the price. I recommend it to anyone.

Wusthof Culinar 6-Inch Carving Fork
I have used three carving forks over the past 30 years. This one is by far the best I have used. It replaced a carving fork from Wusthof's classic line the line that set the standard for kitchen cutlery for a century, until Wusthof introduced the Culinar line. The Wusthof classic fork had in turn replaced a stainless steel fork from another German manufacturer.I originally wanted this Culinar fork to match my Culinar knives, even though I figured the match would just be a matter of looks rather than functionality. I was wrong. The difference between this fork and other carving forks is even bigger than for the knives.
Perhaps the biggest difference is in the handle. The handle of most carving forks does not fill an average to large size hand. This allows the fork to move a bit even with a firm grip, limiting how well one can hold the roast still. That's only a minor inconvenience for a sirloin or tenderloin roast where one is making vertical slices against the carving board, but can be major annoyance with a larger rib roast or a whole turkey, where some cuts are made horizontally or at other angles.
The handle of this Culinar fork allows a much surer grip, making it a breeze to carve. That's true whether you have large or small hands, thanks to the taper of the handle. The butt end of the handle is quite beefy, but even a toddler can get a sure grip by grasping the narrow end of the handle just below the neck. While the stainless steel of the handle looks smooth, the brushed surface actually makes it less slippery than even composite and wood handles.
This fork has other advantages as well. The tines are straight, making them much easier to place out of the way of the knife, even with more complex cuts. The fork is slightly flattened, allowing parallel slices to be made closer to the tines, as well as reducing the loss of juices while carving. And while the overall length of the fork, at 11 inches (28 cm), is the same as for the equivalent classic Wusthof fork, the tines are a bit longer at about 5 inches (12 cm), permitting better handling of larger roasts. (The "6 inch" measurement in the description includes the length of both tines and neck.)
My wife got me this fork for Chistmas from my wish list, and after carving Christmas dinner with it, I never want to use another carving fork again. If you know someone who regularly makes roasts or who you would like to make roasts get them this fork. Or get it for yourself, if you enjoy cooking. You will not regret it!This Wusthof Culinar 6" meat fork does an excellent job of holding meat and poultry in place so that they can be carved. Although this fork is a little on the expensive side, I find that it is stronger and sharper than cheaper forks such as the Calphalon meat fork. Compared with similar stainless handled forks by Global and Henckels, this one has a more comfortable grip, and the two piece construction really is not a disadvantage. The Henckels felt too slippery, and I really find the Global handles to be very uncomfortable in my hand. The Culinar fork also has the right amount of heft, and the best balance of these three that I have tested.
While this may be too expensive for those on a budget, I have to rate this fork five stars since it is clearly the best in its class.

Let me tell you folks, when my late husband received this fork as a gift from one of his clients, my first thought was, "Return it and let's get the cash!". Luckily we kept it around long enugh to realize what an asset it is to our kitchen. This fork has two prongs which is perfect for any job you would want it for. Our cook, Frances, just loves it, and refuses to carve with anything else. In fact, I just bought him one for his own family for Christmas! Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Super Slicer
This is a great all-around slicer. We've used it on very soft, moist cakes and breads both soft and crusty. But, thanks to a sharp edge and the length, it does a great job on meats. It breezes right through a London Broil and does a beautiful job slicing up an entire beef tenderloin into individual filet mignons. Sharp enough and long enough that you can usually complete a cut in a single stroke, providing a cleaner cut. I even tried it on a turkey last Thanksgiving and it worked great.
One really nice feature of this blade over many other slicers (including some other Wüsthofs) is that it is scalloped on only one side, so you can still take it to a steel between professional sharpenings. This amazing knife breezes through super hard, crusty day old bread, making sharp clean cuts. It is long and wide enough to cut beautiful cake layers. This is one awesome knife. I bought it on Amazon, but wish I had shopped around a little first, I would have saved $30.

Often enough there's a watermelon or big round loaf of bread or turkey or some other thing that's broad enough that I can't quite get any of my "regular" knives through it in one downward motion. It's awkward when you have to cut things by halves, trying to meet in the middle, etc. Or sometimes I just need the leverage of a long blade for some reason. That's when I turn to my super slicer. It has yet to be bested by anything in my particular kitchen. It cuts great, is sturdy, sharp, menacing even. I love it.Read Best Reviews of Wusthof Classic 10-Inch Super Slicer Here
Great knife for breads, sandwiches, cutting sausage, hams, roasts and turkey or anything which a wave edge is preferred. No bending, good weight, precise cuts and balance. A delight to use in the kitchen. This is a huge knife that is great for cutting large items. I have a 10" chefs knife, but this one seems larger as the blade doesn't taper to a point. It was initially a little difficult to handle, but since I've had the opportunity to work with it more I have found it less unwieldly.Mercer Millenia M22907 7-Inch Vegetable Knife

OXO Good Grips 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife
Oxo's knife glides over the item you wish to peal, sharp and easy to direct. The gripping piece is larger than normal knives and shaped more comfortably in the palm making it feel lighter in hand than our other knives. We have this knife (back to get a few extras) and the swivel top parer that is also a delight to use--head and shoulders above the regular parer for ease and comfort. Both Oxo items highly recommended. This would be a fantastic knife if it had a better blade. Like all OXO Good Grips products, it is ergonomically designed and would be good for long use. Unfortunately, the blade is light and made of shoddy metal. It will not hold a good edge. Of course, I normally use good German knives, so I may have been spoiled.Buy OXO Good Grips 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife Now
I own three of these knives and use them daily. I think it's fair to consider myself an experienced home chef and I do also own several very good pieces of cutlery, including some Wusthof, Global, and Shun.I have long hands (no arthritis) and enjoy the grip of these handles and find myself grabbing them all the time for paring, peeling, and various other small knife-work kinds of tasks. I particularly like that the handle doesn't get slippery when I'm trimming vegetables as I rinse them.
The main criticism I have about the knives is also something that I've personally found to be easily fixed. Several people have commented about the quickly dulling edge true, but using a regular old honing steel on it every few months or so (as all well-used knives need from time to time to stay in top condition) keeps them perfectly sharp and maintained.
So far I've really liked all of the Good Grips equipment I've tried (paring knives, bread knife, veg peeler, zester, and can opener) except for the chef's knife not enough heft for my taste.
Read Best Reviews of OXO Good Grips 3-1/2-Inch Paring Knife Here
I'm a big fan of most of OXO Good Grips products, but after having purchased two of their knives, this one and the 5" mini-chef's knife, I feel compelled to warn people not to waste their money on OXO knives. To be blunt (that is the OXO knife's fate in life sorry about the pun), the quality and intelligent design for which OXO products are well known does not extend to their cutlery line. First, the handles on these knives are a very sloppy ribbed rubber that provides no more firm of a grip than a dog's rubber squeaky toy. The grips aren't particularly ergonomically shaped, either. Even worse than the grip is the blade itself. Honestly, this knife would have a difficult time cutting cold butter taken straight from the refrigerator. The blades when brand new are dull and have not been ground, sharpened and honed to a useable edge. However, I seriously doubt even a professional knife sharpener could do much with this. Made from cheap stainless steel, this OXO knife's blade is simply not meant to obtain or keep a sharp edge. Avoid this and buy one of the plastic-handled $3-4 Heckels or Victorinox paring knives instead they are vastly superior and cheaper to boot. Or, for a real change, try one of the Kyocera ceramic paring knives. They are obviously a lot more expenisive, but you still should be able to pick one up for around thirty bucks on Amazon and you will be amazed at how incredibly sharp they are. I was able to slice a section of a grape that was transparent and a mere fraction of a millimeter thick with my Kyocera.Love this knife. It is so easy to hold, particularly if you have any arthritic or other problems. It is also great for small hands. It does not slip and cuts beautifully. This is my second one: the last one was accidently damaged by someone who used it to pry something and bent it. It is meant for cutting food, not cement.John Boos Newton Prep Master Reversible 18" Square Cutting Board with Juice Groove and Pan
This hardwood cutting board is built sturdy and withprecision. It is beautiful as well and fuctional. It is very heavy, so it needs a space where it doesn't need to be moved each time it is used.I love this cutting board! Used it over the holiday's with a nice big juicy turkey on it to carve and the juices ran right into the pan and we were able to add them to the gravy. The drip pan is also convenient for pushing aside scraps when cutting vegetables and other things just pull out and toss. A nice solid board with the flip side being smooth, it has a nice working space for cutting up just about every thing. Be warned, it is heavy and the metal drip pan is not attached, it slides in lose so I have dropped it a few times when I have moved my board.

After using my previous stainless steel flatware for more than 30 years, I decided it was time for a change. This flatware is everything I hoped it would be. Beautiful, versatile and practical. I did follow the manufacturer's directions and changed my dishwasher powder from lemon-based to regular to avoid spotting and discoloration, but if I follow the manufacturer's instructions, this flatware should look good for many years to come.As icing on the cake, so to speak, I hunted around (both at stores and online) to get the best price for this beautiful flatware. I found the best price on Amazon.com.I ordered two place settings to supplement the settings my wife and I received 25 years ago as wedding gifts. I was not sure that the new settings would exactly match what we had. Amazingly, they matched exactly except for the new shine. Twenty-five years and 6 kids later our everyday old place settings have been going strong without any sign of wear and tear. The new settings look and feel that they can also go the distance as well. Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch End Grain with Bowl Cut-Out
The reason I picked this one is that it's large enough to really make an impression. It pretty much covers up my boring old kitchen island. I look at almost like a piece of furniture. I've had it for a year and it shows almost no wear -which is another good reason to spend the money and go end grain. If you want to make an investment in a professional grade cutting board that makes your kitchen look about 10 times better, teak is the way to go. People aren't used to seeing that funky wood grain and there's just no other cutting board that's going to get as many compliments. This kitchen tool is a work of art. Beautiful word grain patterns. I purchased this with the recommended conditioner and gave it four or five treatments before using it to season it properly. Don't skip this important step. The only thing I would have liked are small silicon pads on the reverse side to stop it from sliding around. It looks impressive sitting on the counter and suggests you take your cooking seriously.

Upon receiving my new cutting board I loved the initial size and appearance. However, after looking at it I noticed that it has three places where the wood is not bonded well together and is actually separated. I don't know if this will cause a problem with warping or if sealing the board (with Boos) will correct the situation. This is a beautiful chopping block that really saves my knives. Tons of surface area to chop or display cheeses, etc. The bowl cutout if helpful...I place a plate under it and then sweep my chopped veggies for soup, salad or whatever onto the plate for transfer. I think it would also be nice with the bowl cutout side up with a bowl resting on it and crackers and cheese displayed so it is also like a serving tray. Only negative it is a bit cumbersome to clean because it is so big and heavy but it is worth it. I love having the prep surface a few inches off the counter. Worth the $I ordered this board from ProTeak on Amazon after trying 3 other boards from 2 other companies. First of all, returning with Amazon selected sellers is a breeze. This Teak Cutting slab is the perfect size and thickness. The board arrived in perfect condition and absolutely beautiful! After the board block oil was applied, the color just jumped out! I love the cut out, it looks like it will be very handy. I have not yet used the board, as I am treating it right now. But I expect to enjoy it immensely! YOSHIHIRO- Shiroko-Kasumi Yanagi Sashimi Knife Shitan Handle 11.7" (300mm)
I purchased this for my son who is a sushi chef in Hawaii and he loves it. He uses it daily.I'm a professional cook and I have to say this is by far the favorite knife I own. I've worked as a sushi chef for a few years and none of the knifes I used before this one made me so excited to cut some Sashimi. The steel is beyond beautiful and the high carbon / craftsmanship is what makes this knife. The knife cries too you to cut anything into paper thin slices, I find excuses to use this knife.Getting this longer 11.7" is recommended by me, having the extra length puts less stress, throughout the stoke, on the fish and with proper execution lets you get to best out of your cuts. Not to mention, everyone watching you do it will slightly open their jaw.
This is my second knife by Yoshihiro and it will certainatley not be my last. The high carbon requires more attention too prevent rust stains, but it's no more than basic cleanliness that you should account for anyways (plus a few squirts of knife oil at the end of the day). If you want a knife that you can use and feel proud to own, Yoshihiro is a great choice.

A Cook

They are a pleasure to use especially if you have pain or strength issues.I purchased this knife due to arthritis pain in my hands and it has turned out to be my all time favorite cutting utensil. It is wonderful. Very sharp, ergonomic and easy on the wrist. The price is a little high but it is well worth it.Buy Dexter DuoGlide 8-Inch Carbon Steel Chef's Knife with Soft Grip Handle Now

This knife has such a unique grip, once you've used it, going back to a traditional knife seems awkward and difficult. It's very sharp, and stays sharp for a long time. It takes very little hand strength to cut through vegetables, meats...anything!Natural Arkansas Hone, Ultra Fine
This is an excellent polishing stone that will give you a factory sharp edge on any almost any knife that isn't beat up or dented badly. That is if you use the right shaping stones before it correctly. Lansky is the best sharpener company for the money you will ever find.So if you want to know about the item itself, it gets FIVE STARS. The problem with this listing is this is not actually an "Arkansas" stone as stated. It will still work with the arkansas stone kits because it is the last step polishing stone you would use. I bought it along with the arkansas three stone kit after I had used my friends five standard stone kit and the major banefit to the arkansas stones is they are supposed to last longer. They also take off a little less metal to a comparable grit regular stone and thus can produce a somewhat more even edge, again this particular 1000 grit stone is so good it doesn't effect the finished product when used in conjuction with the arkansas kit like I am doing. So that's why I'm not trying to return this to the seller. However I should tell you that the regular stones will still do wonders for a non abused blade edge and I bought the arkansas kit because I am a bit obsessive about my knives and if I can make a better edge I wil usually try. If you do beat your knife up a bit the regular five stone pro-kit has more corse grind stones that will be much quicker at reshaping your blade and can actually eliminate some small dings and burrs from it completely.
So if you are not experienced at sharpening knives and I mean Really sharp, the standard stones will do you no wrong.
This is a standard stone that can give you a razor edge if used right.
